International Alliance of Nations RP (Closed)

Postby City States Alliance » Thu Aug 20, 2015 9:49 pm

Alright, so we will be establishing the RP for the International Alliance of Nations. This post will be used to establish the initial facts and info to start the RP. If you would like to add to the information on this post (such as info for where you're nation is starting out) please message me and I will add it.

Allowed/Accepted Aspects of the World

Powers
City States Alliance = An alliance of several city states and territories. While the CSA cooperates on almost all foreign and domestic matters the allocation of tasks and duties typically falls on the individual nations. The nations that comprise the CSA are Ellis (Isolated island-nation), Vault (Military power of CSA), Megapolis (Political and trade capital of CSA), Utopia (Technological power of CSA) and the Territories.
Thassiphora = Uses alternate tech due to its previous period of isolation (mechanical computers and resonance instead of electricity for data distribution), wary of strictly religious people and nations. Socially-minded and economically important government, and most of the Thassiphoran people share a love for science.
Floppieland = A socialistic nation, used to be Stalinist, wants peace.
Kalatun
Waltarnuss = The United Kingdom of Waltarnuss consists mostly of nearly undisturbed nature inhabited by four primitive nomadic tribes which have been united for 212 years under the rule of the monarchy after King Walter the Great of the Desert Tribe united them after having domesticated the local dinosaur population. It is a peninsula approximately the size of Asia including Russia which is connected to Floppieland via a large and, at least with Waltarnussian tech, nearly impassible mountain range. These tribes are: the Desert Tribe, the Swamp Tribe, the Tundra Tribe and the Field Tribe. During these few centuries almost all of the nation's technological development has taken place. Most Waltarnussians adhere to a religion based on ancestor worship which teaches that the people of Waltarnuss must advance themselves so that they can fulfill an as yet unspecified destiny , led by the Unusual Council, consisting of the four Councillors of each of the tribes. They have weak supernatural abilities of various kinds and have a large hierarchy of Elders under them. The entire Council with the exception of the Desert Councillor only begrudgingly accept the reign of the monarchy, which enjoys the fervent support of the people. Waltarnuss is rich in salt, oil and fresh water and contains an extensive highway system and several large buidlings made almost entirely out of salt.

Eastern Territories
1330 hours, September 7

The day couldn't have been any worse for working. The rain had not let up since morning, and judging by the clouds it didn't look like anything was going to change. For the Project Manager tasked with looking over this crew of foresters and maintenance workers, all he could forsee was day after day of problems. If those all-powerful Utopian Unions didn't stop them, the weather certainly would. He grabbed his radio to get a report on what was occurring at the front.

"Hey Paul? Are we making any progress up there?"

"Couldn't say yet Rick" the voice over the radio buzzed. "We have never gone this far into the woods before. I hope the Ministry of Forests knows what they are doing."

"I doubt it, but orders are orders. They want us to start developing this far out than we better do what they say." He was starting to sweat despite the rain. They had enough things to worry about without the unknown being one of them. Monsters were all over, and they had no support save for a couple of low-rent mercenaries that were sleeping in a truck somewhere. If anything was on the other side of this forest, they wouldn't have heard them even if they tried to listen.

"Ah hell, why am I worrying?" He muttered to himself. "We got weeks before this gets completed. If I start jumping at my shadow now we're done for"

CSA Capital, Megapolis
1400 hours, September 7

"Well gentleman, let's get right to it" the voice of the president was sharp and clear, and it cut through the room silencing everyone still gossiping over the news of last week. It had been a busy one for the CSA all right. The elections had finished and everyone was abuzz at the results: A new president after 3 terms of the old guard. President Ted Malcom was a man born of progress; he cut his teeth establishing the International Alliance of Nations, a regional alliance which allowed the CSA to cooperate with nations outside of it's national alliance. He also established the first embassies that were sent from that region, which established much needed foreign trade. He also spearheaded the modernization initiatives that updated everything from the language of the laws and policies to the very flag of the CSA itself. But there was no time to kick back and relax, his first term in office was just beginning. "Let's hear from Trade first."

"Well sir, we are starting to go into a crunch this year. Domestic trade is starting to stagnate, we just don't have the numbers and cooperation needed to grow. We have always relied on foreign trade for that and our old contacts are awfully quiet lately."

"Can we get in contact with our embassies to try and get them back to the table?"

"We have been in contact, but both embassies are reporting that they can't get anything off the ground. We aren't in conflict with them, we've just been cast aside for more lucrative trade."

"Well we're going to have to find a solution for that. I think we need to start looking towards new contacts. Get in touch with our representatives in IAN, let them know we want to start pushing for some trade and see what they can come up with." President Malcolm leaned back in his chair, letting out a big sigh. "Alright, let's hear from Defence. What do you have?" A short stocky man rose up from his chair so that the group could see him. When a Utopian admiral was elected as the Minister of Defence for the CSA, it was unheard of that anyone other than a Vault general would have been elected. Needless to say a certain level of coercion and bribery helped to make that a possibility.

"Well, it's been busy. Ellis reported that they have started their Fall Campaign. They are hoping to have 10% reduction of Red Zone and 20% reduction of Yellow Zone. That's about all we are getting from them, they aren't promising anything to us."

"Well that's pretty much normal at this point. What else?"

"Megapolis and Utopia don't have any operations or missions going on, so we are good for that. Vault is getting impatient though, and are starting up their special operations again. They have just launched several operations to capture enemy intelligence and leaders without any CSA involvement or even letting us know!"

"God damnit, we can't have that going on right now. We are trying to get trade going on with other nations, we don't need those war-hungry fools starting trouble. What has the Military Council in Vault have to say about this?"

"Like I said, they aren't happy with our lack of support. They have been going it alone for the most part, and haven't kept us up to speed on what's going on."

Malcolm let out another sign while holding his head. This couldn't be tolerated, the whole point of the City States Alliance was that all these nations would cooperate. But on the other hand this was Vault, and there wasn't a whole lot that could be done to put pressure on them. They were the military backbone of this alliance, and without them the CSA would be in big trouble from those that would want to destroy it. "Alright, we can't leave this to solve itself. Get a hold of Admiral Hackett and tell him I want to speak to him. And send someone to go over there and discuss what they want from the rest of us." Malcolm stood up from his chair, with the rest of the cabinet and advisers following his lead. "That will be all for now, dismissed."

Halli Schnurr was excited. He was going to make official trade agreements, with Katalun. Besides a couple of embassies and the IAN, floppieland's politics where isolationist. Starting with something small, they would slowly become an important nation.
Everything was organised perfectly, nothing could go wrong. In the party afterwards, Katalun’s delegate would be the first foreigner to hear the electar(a guitar made out of electrum), Floppieland’s national instrumental. First they would play classical and folk music, then Floppieland’s take on rock music, better known as floprock
While Halli was daydreaming, a guard walked in. He was panting, with all his might he said:” you… not …. Believe … cavemen … nunun.” And then he passed out. When he regained conscious, Halli gave him a glass of water, and said: “Now calm down and tell me again, but slowly this time, ok?” The guard drank the water and said:” A group of cavemen walked into nunun today, they came from the eastern part, At first we thought they were lunatics, but then they showed us dinosaur leather, and we knew they must have come from an unknown land. ”Brilliant!” Shouted Halli “send them over here, and our best linguist to make sure they learn our language, I want to know everything about them and they’re land."

The state-secretary's chamber, Triforam, 2 september 18:00h

''Lord secretary, the results are in.''
''What manner of results are you referring to, Herbert?''
''Sir, I am referring to THE results, They voted yes. The people voted yes.''
''Oh goodness! This is unheard of! No more than 14% ever voted in favour of the expedition before.''
''We must notify the council at once!''

The great debating chamber, Triforam, 2 september 19:15h

''...and therefore... ah yes, good to see you Henry. We were just inclining about you. Are the results in yet?''
''They voted yes, my Lady''
(Most of the great seven are visibly shocked and silence takes over in the great debating chamber, until...)
''Okay, we all know what this means. The Thassiphoran people chose they want us to seek contact with other countries, so that is what we will do. I suggest we create a delegation, comprised of a top official, his or her supporting staff and small armed escort and let it travel past our western borders to look for another country there. Does everyone accept this idea? Yes? Well, then we will only need an official to represent our country to lead the delegation in search of other lands. any volunteers?''
(Everyone is silent for a moment)
''I would like to volunteer, Sir.''
''Henry? Good, you''ll make a great representative for our country. Now, let us prepare the escort and meet us on 6 september.''

Memory square, Triforam, 6 september 13:00

(A member of the great seven is giving a speech about the ''heroic members of the delegation''.)
''...their finest hour. Let us say to them farewell and hope for the statistical anomaly called luck to be on their side. Farewell, brave souls! Farewell, Henry.''

And so, our brave heroes start travelling east, in their charcoal-powered land-ironclad convoy, looking for lands unknown. Who knows what fate awaits them. Will they find new allies, or people akin to the ones they went into isolation for into the first place?

These were wondrous lands indeed, that much was certain. Beyond the mountains they had seen the broken ruins of many large buildings, made of stone and wood and other materials they couldn't identify, and at the end of this wasteland they had met with what appeared to be a scouting party. They wore black furs that had somehow been perfectly cut in the shape of a man and made very smooth, and they spoke a strange tongue, but they seemed friendly enough. "What is it?" said His Majesty Jeroen III, "Do you want us to follow you and meet your leader?" He followed them to their camp, which was made up of castles of various sizes, made once again of stone rather than wood and salt. There were more people there, including one who looked like a Councilor, though they were not the same as the ones they had. "Your eminence, our blessings and those of our ancestors are upon you. We come here together with the seventy surviving members of my party seeking allies. Our nation is being tormented by a terrible plague, and there is no one who knows how to cure it."

Halli, pointed at himself, and said: "Halli Schnurr"
He, then pointed at the ground, and said: Floppieland.
He then pointed at another man, and said: "Karl jeffer"
"He'll give you food" said Halli, while he put his hand to his mouth, as if he was eating.
"And after that he"ll teach you our language" he said, while pointing to his throat.

Unknown Location
0600 Hours

The light coming over the landscape was starting to get brighter. The cover of night was fast disappearing and yet they had still not completed their mission. The scout unit had been ordered to look into an anomaly that was appearing close to a development project; some deforestation in the Eastern Territories, so that the Utopians could build a highway or something.

"Command, this is Charlie 5-1. We are at the location of the anomaly." The lieutenant radioed in to Vault Command, crouching down behind a rock so that his location wouldn't be compromised.

"Roger that Charlie 5-1. Do we have eyes on the anomaly?" The lieutenant made a wave of his hand and one of the marine scouts moved along the crest of the hill to try and confirm a visual. As he peeked over the hill he could see several large vehicles moving along the treeline, thick black smoke billowing from their exhaust. He turned to the lieutenant and nodded.

"Copy that Command. Charlie 5-4 confirms we have visual of the anomaly. Appears to be a convoy of some kind, unknown vehicle type."

"Understood, do we have a count?"

"Negative Command, treeline is obscuring most of them. Seem to be old tech, can't tell if they are military or civilian." A long pause at the other end. Obviously they were chatting among themselves to determine what to do. The lieutenant waved to his unit to prepare to move.

"Copy Charlie 5-1. You have orders to withdraw from the area."

"Understood Command...should we pass this on to the Utopians?"

"That's a negative Charlie 5-1. This mission was off the CSA books, don't need to bring anyone else into it. Judging by our trajectory estimates they will miss the contractor crew in the forest." The lieutenant turned back to his unit and signaled to head back to the rendezvous. They would be back in Vault within a couple of hours, for now the convoy was someone else's problem.

Henry's logbook

8 september 13:00h

We have been traveling for precisely two days now and the landscape has changed drastically. The land is much flatter here and I saw many as of yet unknown species of plants when we were out refueling, just eight hours ago. I put some berries in the floral preservation chamber, so that we may analyze it after our return. IF we return. I am worried that we will meet another country of warmongering intolerants. Our finest armaments might still be nothing compared to who we might find. Perhaps they are so advanced that they have weaponry that will devastate a land ironclad in a single blow.
Or maybe I am just worrying too much. Maybe we will find new allies. Or maybe we'll be the technologically superior ones. I mean, we have built a nation-wide communications network!
(I am quite annoyed by the fact that I may not use it to speak with the council though. They still want me to come over to them if i have to speak to them. Frankly, it doesn't make any sense.).
Or maybe, we won't find anyone.
Either way, we are making steady progress at an average speed of aproximately 60 km/h.

"We thank you for your generosity, lord Halli Schnurr." the king replied, bowing. "I am king Jeroen III." he said, pointing to himself. "Waltarnuss" he said, pointing out towards the horizon. "The land we come from. We are eager to help you fight your enemy." He held up his fist and waved his other hand backwards. "I will go get half of my warriors. Wait up!" he said, pulling his fists to his neck. He then went back to his camp and returned with eight warriors dressed in dinosaur leather, some of them with masks made from giant arthropod exoskeletons, armed with spears, clubs and axes made of wood, cactus, flint and bone.

Most of the people were frightened when they saw the warriors. But Halli Schnur calmed them down, by saying: "Jeroen is telling us that his warriors want food too, Karl jeffer! Give these men our finest spareribs!" Karl ran away, and came back with 10 portions of spareribs, he gave everyone from Waltarnus a portion, after that he took a big bite , and said: "eating"

Henry's logbook

12 september 15:00h

I found something peculiar today. It is a long object with a metallic part that has teeth-like protrusions on it and a part made out of an as of yet unidentified (but presumaby carbon-based) material that functions as a grip. it seems to activate by pulling the cord on the ''grip''-part, which makes the protrusions spin around the metallic part. Because it has enough power to tear off someone's arm, I've decided to take out the fuel
(which is being stored for examination upon our return).
Apart from this peculiar device, something else worth discussing happened this morning. I felt like I was watched and I even think I saw a head. If we weren't being watched, I should really not try eating any of those spicy west-Thassiphoran foods anymore.
If we really were being watched, why would they hide from us? This doesn't bode well.

September 13
1100 Hours

Jake was starting to sweat, he had been cursing himself since he came into work this morning. Apparently he left his equipment out on the job site yesterday, and the boss wasn't too happy. Only thing that saved him from getting replaced by some backwater Territory man was his union; you could count on one thing for Utopian unions, and that was that they knew how to keep their boys from being outsourced. But that didn't stop his supervisor Paul from marching him back out to find his gear.

"Got to be around here somewhere..." Jake muttered to himself, trudging through the brush to where he was working last. Clearing out some old timber at the far east of the clearing, he thought. Finally he saw the treeline, but his gear was nowhere to be found. Stranger still, there were some strange tracks on the ground that he didn't recognize.

"What the...Is someone poaching our wood?" Jake began to walk along the track. Suddenly a huge crash to his right side, and a large hulking machine was beside him. Jake dove straight into the bush beside him, thinking that a monster had come out of the woods. A few seconds passed, and he was not being devoured. Jake stood up and brushed off his pants. While he gathered his wits he fumbled for the radio on his belt, almost dropping it with how bad his hands were shaking.

"Uh, Paul? You're going to want to come down here real quick."

The unknown lands, 13 september 11:05h

''Steward, why did we stop?''
''There was a man standing in front of us, Sir. He did not look like one of us''
''Are you positive you saw someone?''
''Yes, Sir.''
''Then I will go out there to see whether you are correct. If you are, this is an important moment in the history of our country. If you aren't, you should really lay off that ''cough syrup'' for a while!'' Henry proclaims whilst stepping out of the vehicle.
After a bit of searching and joking about Steward's ''cough syrup'', Henry spots movement in one of the bushes.
''Hello? Is someone there?''

The king retrieved the rest of the group and told them all that they would be guests in Floppieland and that they were allowed to take of the food. Everyone was eager to get some food and rest, and a cheer went up. The king and three of his elders spent some time learning the English language. They then went on to explain the situation with the plague. How people were dying everywhere, how inflammations and festering sores appeared all over their bodies and how their organs began slowly swelling up and leaking out of their bodies. How none of the new medical techniques, which the medical elder described in some detail, nor the magic of their Councilors, had been able to cure it. How they had traveled across the mountains and through a land of ruins to request help. He said that, if the president was willing to help them, he could request what he wanted out of the things they had, and would be likely to get it. He then suggested that the president might show them his land.

“Alright, we’ll send a boat full of doctors, scientist and medical equipment to your nation, if it’s spread by a Bacteria, we’ll be done in no-time, if it’s spread by a virus, it will take some more time.” Said Halli Schnur. “A tour around Floppieland is a great idea, we’ll start here, in Nunun. The city of Ruc is where we are now, We’ll go to the harbour, it will blow your mind! We’ll go there in my car, that’s a cart, which is powered by a specific liquid.” After a short ride they arrived in the harbour, it was massive, there where huge boats docked everywhere, big containers stacked higher than the flats surrounding the harbour, even higher cranes moving containers around, and, of course, masses of people moving around like ants. “What do you think? Makes a man look small doesn’t it? Halli Schnur asked.

Somewhere on the sea between Floppieland and Waltarnuss
Anna was one of the smartest persons of Floppieland, only 17 years old and she already was a doctor in medical biology, chosen to go to Waltarnuss, to cure a mysterious disease, she would be the first foreigner to go there. She should be proud and happy, but instead she was scared, according to the legends, this sea was full of monsters, and no-one should ever try cross it. She decided to go to the captain, hoping he could cheer her up. All of a sudden, she was catapulted into the air, and then thrown back to the ship, she lost consciousness.

At Ruc harbor.

Everyone was very impressed with the ships and gazed in awe. One of the elders translated what Halli Schnurr had to say, and then the king spoke: "We thank you for your help. I do not doubt you can help us. The things you have shown us are more awesome than anything we have, however, so I do not know if we will ever be able to repay you. Just tell me if there's anything you want from us. If you want, we can give you access to the royal brachiosaurus herds. By the way, could you perhaps explain more about what we are seeing?"

Meanwhile in Waltarnuss, in a medical camp in the north of the Field Province.

There were hundreds of patients here and only about a dozen medical elders, and although they were doing all they could, testing every new experimental treatment they could think of no matter how unlikely it was to work, they had yet to cure any of them. In fact, quite often they only served to make things worse, and increasingly often people requested to be allowed to die quickly. Councilor Mies was in her tent, contemplating over a thin, hand held wooden spike on which were impaled several pickled songbirds. She didn't like seeing her people suffer like this, but she couldn't let them give up when help was underway. It was a long journey across the mountains, but she estimated that the king would be across the border by now, and the disease took a long time to kill, which was both a blessing and a curse, though generally more curse than blessing. This was especially true considering that whatever strangers could live beyond the mountains might very well not be able to help, or might even be hostile. During the last Council meeting Melchior had spoken of a very old ritual developed in the days of king Walter of which there was a small chance that it might work, but if it didn't, it could doom the whole Kingdom. Just as she was about to consider the specifics of it so she could decide if the situation was dire enough, she had a premonition: help from strange lands was coming from a specific place in the sea by the mountains, but it was being attacked by predators. If they could build vehicles that could travel across the water that far from the coast, they were clearly powerful people. She promptly swung around her spike in a wide arc, causing the birds to fly away against the walls of the tent. She then called one of her elders and quietly told him to alert the others, to make sure the patients didn't find out and might get false hope, and to send a runner to alert the Salty Structure military base at the coast of the Field Province.

Immediately afterward, in Floppieland, at Ruc harbor.

Jeroen was awaiting the president's response when he suddenly got a vision from Councilor Mies. The message disturbed him, and it was obvious that he had to tell Halli Schnur immediately. "Mister president, I've just received a message from home, from one of my Councilors, who's at one of our medical camps. At sea, three-hundred kilometers from the coast near the mountains a powerful predator is attacking your boat. Our air force is incapable of reaching that point, but we have sent word to their bt equipped base." He then proceeded to give the location of the boat, the medical camp and the military base. He sincerely hoped the two of them would be as capable of standing up to the pestilence, lack and hostile others both human and less so as were the monarchs before him, but he wasn't the least bit sure of that.

"Fiddlesticks!" said Halli Schnur. He took his cellphone out of his pocket, and called the air force: "Our medical ship for Waltarnus has been attacked by a predator, get 10 zeppelins out there in 6 hours"
"Sir 6 hours is too short, it will take at least 8 hours."
"Alright, you got 7 hours."
"OK will do."
Halli schnur turned of his phone, and said: "everything will be alright, we've sent 10 zeppelins, they'll solve everything. Let's continue the tour, to get our mind of things, shall we? You were wondering what this is, didn't you? We produce a lot of food and plastics, we can't use it all, so we sell it to other nations. And we produce no paper, so we buy that from other countries, get it?

Somewhere on the sea between Floppieland and Waltarnus
when Anna regained conscious, the captain started talking: "When I was a little lad, they told me to never sail on the northern sea, it was a sea full of monsters, according to the legends. There were no legends about the south sea, but they told me that that was best avoided as well. If you go south from Ruc and follow the coastline, there's no problem, but you should never go east, they told me. When they decided to go to Waltarnus, I said: take the south sea, no horrible legends. But no, they had to be brave, and "disprove" some legends, well the legends are true! Nice to know! It's 3 a clock in the afternoon, and it's bloody dark, because there's no bloody wind to blow away all these clouds, they're here for ever! gps stopped working, radio's bust, and engine's broken, bloody hell!" "But what caused the bump?" Anna asked carefully. "I don't know lass." And at that moment 10 predatory tunicates, each the size of a small appartement, popped out of the sea.
Somewhere above the northern sea.
"Zfk3 to base."
"What is it Zfk3?"
"We had to act so fast, that you guys forgot to tell us what the hell is happening."
"Oh, sorry. The ship send to Waltarnus is being attacked, and you guys have to help it."
"Attacked by who?"
"We don't know."
"Great, Gaaaaah!!!"
"What's happening Zfk3?"
"Lot of wind, but it's gone now, there's absolutely no wind. Oh bloody hell, there are too many clouds, I can't see a thing!"
"Fly l...e.... 3...."
"Bloody hell, radio and gps don't work anymore."
The 10 zeppelins flew back to the point where the radio and gps still worked.
"Base can you hear me?"
"Zfk3 what happened?"
"I don't know, but you'll need to send a hell lot more than 10 zeppelins."
"OK, I'll contact the navy, and tell them to send every ship we can spare."

One of the elders, a scribe who had been taken notes for a while on his clay tablet, briefly looked questioningly at Jeroen, who nodded. The scribe then said: "I'm afraid we still lack some necessary context. For example, what do the words "zeppelin", "plastic", and "paper" mean? Also, if I may, there is clearly a lot that you know that we don't, so perhaps, to avoid confusion, one of us might stay here so that he can learn the ways of your land."

"I think it's best, if we give you guys some lessons, and then continue the tour." said Halli schnur "I'll get the best tutor from Floppieland for you guys." They went home, and got their first lesson. In the evening, Halli was quietly reading a book, when a messenger ran in: "Emergency, meeting in room A." "Room A!?" Halli Schnur screamed surprised, "I'll be there in 10 minutes."
Halli walked into the room, and asked: "Why are we having a meeting room A?"
"See this photo?" asked a general.
"What's that, a hurricane in the northern sea?"
"No it's a cloud, when you enter it gps and radio stopped working."
"That's no reason for room A."
"We assume, that whatever is attacking our ships, is also preventing our gps and radio from working."
"What kind of creature could cause this?"
"We assume it's a really powerful enemy ship."
"OK that's a reason for room A, what do you recommend we do?"
"Send half the navy, and thousand zeppelins, in the hope it's enough to destroy it."
"Isn't that a bit much for one medical ship?"
"It's really close to our nation, and acting hostile."
"Alright do it."
"Also, Halli we have a safer plan to explore the world."
"Tell me."
"We'll launch an observation-satellite, which will map the world east of us."
"Brilliant, how long will it take before it's in orbit?"
"2 days"
"Alright launch it."
"Will do"
Medical ship
"Do we have any weapons on this Ship?" Anna asked.
"Lass we're on a ship meant to sail an unknown sea, which, according to legends, is full of monsters. This ship is armed to the teeth." Said the captain.
"They seem hostile, should we attack?"
"I think it's the safest thing to do." And while he said that he pressed some buttons, shortly after that a missile flew to the the creatures, and exploded. It didn't hurt them, but they got scared, from the sound and dived back into the sea. "I don't know you, and you don't know me, seeing we've got some time lass, I think it's best if we tell each other our live story. "
"Sure, but where's everyone?"
"Down below, attempting to fix the engine. I'll start: I was born in 1945, I was a young prodigy, I was so smart, that the communists allowed me to study whatever I wanted, i was going to be useful anyway. I chose literature, for years all i did was study and read, to become a better person, the communists managed to get books through a deal with another nation. I know words in languages, of which you don't even know the existence, jij wortel-teef. During the civil war in the 1980s, I fought for democracy, in the 1990s for socialism. After that they said, that I could have my old position back, I said: no I want to see the world, and became a captain."

Zfk3 was preparing his zeppelin for flight, in 5 minutes he would fly away, to fight an unknown Incredibly powerful enemy, he was ready to die for his fatherland, he might never see his wife and kids again. All of a sudden he heard a known voice behind him: "Harry? mate?" "Jeromilo? I haven't seen you since high school." They hugged each other, after that a voice came from the loudspeakers: "Everyone go in your zeppelins now." "If we get out of this alive, you have to visit my family." Harry said. "I will" Jeromilo said. After that both went into their zeppelins, ready to die for their fatherland.

Ellis Naval Detachment: Battleship Naimen
0930 hours

Admiral Petrus was expecting news soon. The weather North of their position had become a major concern, and there was talk of sea monsters becoming active again. Many of the nations had abandoned the sea for this very reason, and the CSA was just starting to bring their naval capacity back up from nothing. Suddenly his radio began to crackle.

"Sir...this is...we have reports...from Vault...monsters in area...be advised..."

"I want our radio back up and running now!" Petrus shouted towards his crew "Send the call to our cruisers, we are moving out" He stared back at the map on his desk. This would be uncharted territory, but orders were orders.

The Utopian bureaucrat began to wipe his brow. He was totally out of his league, he spent most of his time making sure that the roads were paved and that taxes were being paid. He had no diplomatic experience, especially with an unknown nation. But the CSA representative would not be there for another 3 days, so he would have to do.

"So, uh...Thassiphora? That's it? May I, uh, ask what is the nature of you entering our region? I mean, if you will tell me, of course" He took another wipe of his brow, shifting in his chair uncomfortably. "I have, umm...I have notified my government and they will be sending representatives to speak to you. We will, we will find accommodations for you in the meantime. I mean if you wish to have accomodations, I mean we can find some suitable..." His stammering was starting to get out of hand, one of his assistants grabbed his shoulder to try and calm him down.

"What he means to say, sir, is that we would like to extend our hospitality to you. I hope that you will accept, at least until our professional diplomats arrive and can assist you."

The ''Eastern Territories'', 11 october 11:31h

''Why of course. I understand that you may not have expected this kind of thing to happen. There is no need to be nervous though. We did not come here with hostile intent, only to look for other nations in the world, like yours.
But in the meantime, if we have to wait for proper diplomats to arrive, we would very much like to learn more of your culture. Perhaps there is some kind of cultural repository* nearby that we can visit?

Township of Ericsfield, Eastern Territories

The tour guide was a little out of his element today. Typically he carts around seniors, the occasional tourist going from town to town, maybe a school bus of children if the day was going to be a challenge. But a delegation, a foreign one at that, this was something else.

"...and here we have the collection of flags, these are from the nations that make up the City States Alliance..." He pointed to a small gallery of the flags of the nations of the CSA, the reds of the Utopian flag, the black and silver of the Vault flag, and above them all the Blue flag of the CSA, with it's silver star and wreath in the middle. There wasn't a whole lot to show the delegation, this was just a small town museum out in the sticks. But they seemed to be happy, chatting among themselves and taking notes.

"...and over here we have a copy of the original Declaration of Alliance that took place in Ellis, one of the founding nations of the City States Alliance. The original document is located in the state hall located in Megapolis..." The museums and archives in the big cities would be much more awe inspiring than this place, he thought. Luckily the delegation would be arriving soon and would take over the talks with this group. For now all they could do was show what they had out on the edge of the nation.

Admiral Hackett was rubbing the temples of his head for a while now. He was supposed to be retired at this point, but there was noone that would replace him as the head of the Military Council. Special Forces Commander Ehn was off looking for artifacts in the desert, and every other officer was too damn humble to take the position. He let out a long sigh and returned to his papers. Ellis was moving their navy out into open waters, towards some anomaly of unknown origin. Monsters most likely, the sea was large and monsters were plenty, it was why most of the nations the CSA dealt with in the past, including the CSA itself tried to stay out of naval warfare. Guess it couldn't be helped now, but what was odd was that Ellis was the one heading out, and without notifying Utopia. Utopia was the head of the CSA Navy, and Ellis typically wasn't interested in foreign affairs; the battle on the homefront was enough of a challenge for them. Hackett hit the call button on his desk.

"Switchboard, this is Hackett. I need you to send my call to Ellis Command. Tell them it's about the naval movement."

A hotel in the ''Eastern Territories'', 12 october 13.45h

''This was all very interesting! We didn't discover just one nation, but several coöperating ones! Well, lads. What do you think about this country?''
-The economist:
''If they are speaking the truth, we, as a country, are now ''set for life'', as they say here. We have eclipsed them completely chemistry-wise, it seems. They use petrochemicals for everything; packaging, colorants, fuel, etc. If we sell them our better versions of those chemicals, we will already have a steady source of revenue from international trade!''
-The diplomat:
''We can learn so much from them. They have a completely different culture and political system. It will be a wonderfull learning experience for all of Thassiphora! There is a slight air of militarism around here though... That i do not like.''
-The lead researcher:
''We can learn from them in other ways, too! They are more advanced than us on several fields of research, like jet propulsion and eärodynamics. They also have a field of research that we lack entirely! they call it ''elektrotechnology''. I presume it has something to do with the ethereal force, for their electronic device in the museum they called the ''van de graaf generator'' produced sparks akin to lightning.
They can learn from us as well! We seem to be more advanced in chemistry, resonantic induction and analog computation, among others. Working with their researchers will surely be a blast!''

-The general:
From what conversations I have overheard, I think it is safe to say that we shouldn't mess with the inhabitants of this country. From what I've heard, one of the countries in this alliance is strictly militaristic and full of fighting spirit, which doesn't bode well for us if we end up as their enemies. I advise caution.

I will keep your advises in mind. Now, let's get back to work until the diplomats arrive.

room B
"Alright the satellite is in orbit for a day now, and we found something interesting." said a general.
"What did you find?" Halli asked , curiously.
"East of Waltarnuss there's a sea, followed by a continent, which has urbanized regions.
"Good, send a delegation to them, through the southern sea."
"What kind of delegation?"
"Our best diplomats, and scientists."
"OK, will do."
medical ship
"That's very interesting" said Anna, "but you forgot one thing."
"What's that lass? "
"your name."
"Oh, how did I forget that? Well, my name is: captain Ahab"
"that's a beautiful name, now my life-story: I was also really smart, I finished high-school when I was 13. I became a doctor in medical science when I was 17, my research found a cure for the blueliver disease, and that's about it. While she said those words, the predatory tunicates came back, and took a bite out of the ship.
"Crap" said the captain.
Zeppelin above the Northern sea
"We're entering the cloud."
"OK Z...3....t...r......n
Harry turned on his lights, he could still barely see anything. Even though he was in a big group, he was scared, whatever he was going to fight, it was going to be powerful, he might never see his wife and kids again. And why did Jeromilo join the army? Last time they saw each other he was going to be a successful doctor, they had some serious catching up to do. He could remember the day they became friends like it happened yesterday. He stood with his back against the wall, cornered by his classmates, when all of a sudden, Jeromilo charged at them, like a madman hitting them with a stick, till they ran away, they've been friends ever since.
Harry almost stopped being scared, when, suddenly, countless predatory tunicates popped out of the sea, looking hungry. Harry, trained to be a thoughtless machine, started shooting, everybody started shooting. He zigzagged through them, while shooting, it took many bullets to kill them. He saw tunicates fall everywhere, zeppelins being bitten in half and tunicates crushing ships. After hours of mindless shooting, they killed all the tunicates, but the medical ship was nowhere in sight, they decided to move on.

The great debating chamber, Triforam, 23 October, 14:50h

''And now we will hear what sir Elwood has to say.''
''Thank you, lady. Ahem:
At 11 o'clock this morning, we have been contacted by a small group of people from a previously unknown nation, called ''Floppieland''. They speak a language that is, curiously, almost exactly the same as ours. Therefor, we could quite easily communicate with eachother. They travelled here in a vehicle equivalent to one of our Zenith-class airships. Their nation's technology seems to generally be more advanced then ours, to an extent, although we do have an edge on them on several fields of study. They assured us that their nation has no hostile intent. Do you wish to speak to them yourselves?''

-After some debating, the council agreed on an answer-
''We would like to speak to them, yes.''
''Make sure that their stay is a comfortable one.''
''Would that be all?''
''No, one more thing. Progress on project daedalus is, unfortunately, grinding to a halt. The memory units are not efficiënt enough. we could always use more, but that will cause far too much time to be wasted on even the simplest tasks. However, I believe that some of our guest's technology holds the key to space-efficiënt data storage and, therefor, our succes in completing the project.
