Sebrenskiya initiates an aggressive transportation overhaul
Roadwork crews use a concrete slipform paver to build a bridge over a creek in northern SebrenskiyaPANCEVO, Sb - Sebrenskiya's Ministry of Transportation have initiated a major project: adding a new lane to all of the Autoput system dedicated towards semi-trucks, 2 express lanes in every city with an Autoput bypass, and a total of 6 toll lanes, 3 north and 3 south, on the Autoput 1 all the way from Kyustendil to the Letnian Border.
The project is expected to create thousands of jobs, increase international commerce, and help to futureproof the current Autoput system. The Ministry of Transportation claims that adding the new systems will create a "series of new expansions which can help transportation flow more easily than ever before."
The toll highway between Kystendil and Letnia, which will follow the A1 highway, will not be excluding truckers, however, the express lanes, set to expand 30km from the bypasses, will exclude truckers. The reason? The express lanes are supposed to ease future commutes, as the nation continues to expand near its cities. They also provide a way for traffic, if they are willing to reach into their pockets, to avoid accidents on the major highways, which cause issues in most major cities. The toll highway, however, is not intended to ease commute, but rather to provide ways for vehicles to reach Pancevo easier, by bypassing most of the significant traffic around cities.
Speeds on the toll highway are also expected to exceed 160km/h, due to the road's enhanced safety and limited exits. The express lanes, however, will be limited to the same speed limits as their non-toll lane counterparts.
Construction is slated to begin later this year, with it having an expected finish date in 2027. the SebMoT is stating that it will focus on the toll highway first and the lane addition, stating that additional work needs to be done on the surveying for the express lanes.
