Just because I successfully "Reconquista" Iraq from a military and ethnically Feng dictator who couped the Feng government in 2009 and stole power doesn't mean we should go into the Middle East again. As for me I'm just forming alliances with Hejaz and Israel, to gain the three holiest cities in Islam under my sphere of influence and to further my already decent ties with Muslims to prevent a Jihad against Feng by all the other Muslim nations.

We just want to be able to make a story of our own creation, passion, joy, and interest without being criticized by the nationalists who can't see past that.

Not really. I've seen people get pissed off about Balkan Wars, WW3's, etc.
We try to be realistic enough to make sense but not realistic enough for the series's to get repetitive, we like to make things as interesting and unique as possible. If that means make a fictional nation or two or have someone colonize someone than so be it. The events are loosely based off of reality, very loosely, but the events are ours to make.
It's a weird kind of pseudo-reality that bridges reality and unreality. We try to make it consistent and make it realistic(Like Albania can't take on and beat all of NATO in a world war by itself) but unrealistic enough to make for very unique and unlikely ideas(Like recolonization, or a new antion, or restoring Yugoslavia, or Iran annexing Iraq, etc.)
So it's very hard to explain but we have a version of realism and consistency all our own that is unique enough to give us a ton of flexibility. But random events like Croatia conquering all of Balkans and Italy by itself are often criticized by mappers as too unrealistic. So it's very weird.
Still, main point still stands: Slavic nationalists are awful to deal with especially Balkan ones.
