Britonisea wrote:Hey, guys, is it too harsh to add on a rule where a user can only vote for someone else once? For instance, some nations gave the same or more amount of points to someone else as they did with their puppet. 40th edition saw a rise in this scenario happening. Even me, I gave Kalosia 24 points, but I do think that was unfair, looking back on it. I know some people (Electrum I think) has this system where the two best acts get the 12 points, the second best two acts get ten and so on so forth. Wouldn't this be a way to stop the problem happening here? The negatives about this really is that it would be harder for a nation to beat Polkopia's record. Oh and it be a harder process.

Oh but I dont regret giving Kalosia that 24.

Yes! I've been insisting on this for a few editions now.

Todlichebujoku wrote:Or 16; I think it would be better that way as a nation can give 12 and the puppet can still give points to the same entry, but not too many.

Something like that, we'll figure it out with the committee when it gets revamped. It'll be interesting to see the five-seat arrangement return. yes, manifesto incoming

This was something I had in mind. My rationale would be two of the big three points = 16 points, and that would be enough rationalisation for that. I know I would be upset if I lost to someone who had gained 24 points from someone like that -- I get you like the song, but 24 is too much of a reward to give.

Currently thinking of writing a manifesto/going for the committee. Probably won't since I don't have time what with end-of-year-exams determining which university I go to this year, but I will vote on someone who does that.

Also, is the committee going to be increased up to five? Or was that a suggestion Tod? O_O

Yes, the Committee is being increased to five. This is to prevent situations such as last edition where Ekoz had to do it by himself as I had techincal problems, and I'm not sure about Yttribia.

BGSONG is the new national final for Bloodbathian entries in both Worldvision and the World Hit Festival. 5 artists will compete to earn the right to represent the nation; the winner goes to Worldvision, while the second place finisher goes to WHF. TG Bloodbath Generation your ranking 1-5, with 1 being your favorite song.

SONG 1: FROZEN-KEEGAN TRUPP
studio version live performance

Keegan Trupp is the latest winner of the Bloodbathian verison of the Voice. At only 16 years old, this is her debut single. With a song that's rising up the charts, she's one to watch.

SONG 2: NOBODY'S GIRL-DASHARA
studio version live performance

Dashara is an R&B artist who has only just now made an impact on the music scene. Nobody's Girl is described as an "empowering break-up song", and Dasahra's soaring vocals compliment the song.

SONG 3- MY LOVE REMAINS- SEJYA
studio version live version

Sejya is considered a legend in the Bloodbathian music, film and TV industry, with her impact spanning decades. She has sung standards and powerballads all her life; this song is the only new piece off her "Greatest Hits" album, and is the theme song for an upcoming movie of the same name. Highly regarded and rarely problematic, she is the odds-on favorite to win.

SONG 4- GIVE ME A REASON- JAMES ROBERTSON
studio version live performance

James Robertson was discovered on the Internet, and has ammased a following on social media. His new song "Give Me A Reason" is the highest-charting of the 5 songs as of today.

SONG 5- B.A.G (BLACK AND GOLD)- VIBRATA
studio version live performance

Girl group Vibrata bring their first new song in 3 years with "BAG (Black and Gold)". An upbeat, modern anthem for the country, the lyrics are slightly nationalistic but incredibly great to dance to!

In a press conference earlier this morning, ETV has announced that the rock trio Halstroff will be representing Elejamie in the 41st WorldVision Song Contest with the song But Will I See You Again?. Not only that but, once again, Cerin Erali and Flynn Taggart will be commentating the event, as usual.

When asked about how he felt about it, lead singer Marty Halstroff said "It might be worth a shot. We tried a while back but didn't make it. But now we've got a song that might give us our first top ten finish. Will that happen? We have to wait and see, since we've got a while until the contest starts."

@Euski: WV35, one of Britonisea's puppets. I only remember it because I was having this videoblogger livestreaming with her cats at the venue, where she snagged a press box and said something like "I want a happy DIVA all over me" at the entry, but with more innuendo.

The entry had very little RP and I don't think it did well, thus why I doubt anyone remembers it.

The Free Republics Manifesto - WorldVision 41 Committee Elections

Hello WorldVision,

I'm Free Republics and I've participated in 7 out of the last 9 editions of WorldVision. If you're familiar with the songs I've entered, you'll know that my songs have generally written for the purpose of advancing my RP lines elsewhere rather than as a serious attempt to win WorldVision. However, I have quite a bit of experience in these kinds of roles. I've hosted almost every major NS Sports tournament and am currently the Commissioner of NSCF and the President of the World Bowl. I also finished third in the recent election to choose a World Cup President and have written the proposed Constitution for our basketball tournament that will be voted upon soon. Now, I have some ideas for improving WorldVision and am running for the Committee in order to implement these ideas:

Firstly, I support voluntary voting and wish to repeal Rule 4. I'll readily admit that I have voted in the past, more often than not, without having even glanced at the songs I was voting upon! When you force people to vote, the quality of the vote decreases. Its a bad policy for WorldVision and it is an especially disastrous policy when it is adopted by a nation for political elections.

Secondly, I propose adopting a one vote per user rule. I believe that entering a puppet should be done for the sake of entering a second song that you want to enter, not entering some half-assed song just to have twice as many votes.

Thirdly, I don't think the current timetable makes any sense whatsoever. The signup and host bidding process literally lasts twice as long as the period for posting songs. What I propose instead is moving the host vote into the second week of signups and limiting host voting to those who sign up within the first week (but allowing those who sign up in week 2 to participate in the contest). Then, extend the time for posting entries from 10 days to 14 days. Thus, WorldVision would last 5 weeks from beginning to end: 2 weeks of signups (with host bidding taking place in the first week and host voting in the second week), 2 weeks for posting songs and commentaries and a week for voluntary voting on a 1 vote per user basis.

If you agree with my platform, I ask that you vote for me. If you disagree, I ask that you find another candidate to vote for. Thank you for your consideration.

The STE and Ekoz publicly announced its intent on not running for the next WorldVision Committee elections however, after a long deliberation, Ekoz has decided to release a preliminary manifesto for the upcoming elections.

While Ekoz and the STE pride itself on being democratic, fair and approachable, there are a lot of mistakes in which were made first hand within the previous Committee. While I believe that the previous Committee were successful in changing the face of WorldVision for the better, there are still a lot of things in which could vastly improve the contest ensuring a pleasurable and enjoyable experience for all participants.

The Aims

1. While the previous Committee was moderately efficient, I believe the Committee need to do more to ensure the contest runs smoothly. The introduction of a five-member Committee would allow each Committee member to be assigned a specific role within the Committee.

  • Public Relations: this Committee member will be the direct port-of-call for communication between competing nation 's and the Committee. This Committee member would deal with any queries or complaints of participating nations.
  • Director of Committee Meetings: This Committee member will be responsible for the the liaison of all Committee members. This Committee member will be responsible for organising meetings/discussions with attendance of or all or at least 60% of the Committee members.
  • Secretary of the Committee: This Committee member will be responsible in the documentation of Committee meetings. All Committee documents will be made available to the public directly after a Committee meeting. to ensure that the Committee is democratic, fair and open to public opinion. This ensures that that participating nations do not feel the Committee are being secretive.
  • Promotion: This Committee member will be responsible in the growth and promotion of the Contest through unique and imaginative ideas/initiatives. It is imperative that the Contest continues to grow and evolve.
  • Overseer of the Contest: This Committee member will be responsible for overseeing both the Contest and OOC thread ensuring the protection of the contest and it's participating members. This Committee member, should a problem arise, express neutrality throughout.

It is important to stress that although these are roles in which the particular Committee member will specialise in, not one Committee member will be responsible for duties such as updating the OP. Each Committee member will be expected to fulfil such duties without fail.

2. During Ekoz's previous term as a Committee member, the limiting of master/puppet voting was put into place. However, to ensure a completely fair and equal opportunity for all of the participating nations, I would push to ban all the participation of a puppet nation if the master nation has already signed up to the same Contest. Whilst it is important to consider that many nations have IC reasons and/or enjoy entering two songs, I believe it should be one user, one song contest.

3. Similarly to the Eurovision Song Contest and other contests, I would also introduce the opportunity for the previous winner to be given the opportunity to host the next edition of the Contest thus making the WorldVision experience even closer to that of Eurovision. Should the winning nation refuse to host the contest, the Committee would open a call for host bids. The winner of the contest would have 48 hours after the win to decide whether or not to host. This gives both host bid cities and/or the winner enough time to prepare the contest/host-bid.

Whilst I understand and agree that the Committee should be refreshed to maintain new and fresh approaches to the contest, I believe that I would still be an asset to the Committee and I agree would push for the above ideas to be put into effect. Nonetheless, I do feel it is important for each nation within this contest to be given the opportunity to run and be elected as a member of the Committee and would encourage any nation to put forth a manifesto. You all have an opportunity to put your mark on the Contest.

Thanks and Good Luck.

So... is the question/answer session still gonna happen? The one where we TG'd our questions to the Committee and they'd answer it... about now?

Also while we're at this, how do you guys imagine the WV Committee to be like ICly? I imagine an organization with people of various nationalities, with a Reference Group (like the Eurovision Reference Group) consisting of representatives from each of the OOC commitee members (so currently, I imagine the WV Reference Group to consist of 3 members - a representative each from Ekoz, Mister X, and Yttribia).

I want to release my bid. But I can't click the submit button...huh.

What nation would refuse to host WorldVision!? Unless it is RL issues, I understand. But at this standard I won't ever host this competition.

They were supposed to be in WV40, but I don't actually remember any questions being TG'd.

With the admittedly disappointing finish of Kiraya in WV40, TÖBUK is releasing its WV41 entry and hoping that it will do better this time. With "Single Tear", Sudet, a rising star in the Tödlichebujoki music scene known primarily for a song of his played at an emotionally heavy part of a soap opera, joins with ZTA, an EDM producer and DJ known in WorldVision circles for closing WV36 and playing at the after-show concert. Fans of both artists are extremely excited about their collaboration, and fans of Sudet in particular are hoping for this to be the song that cements his place in the nation's music.

Artists: Sudet + ZTA
Song: Single Tear
Tune: Zedd ft. Troye Sivan - Papercut (stop at 3:45)

Meanwhile, rumors are circulating that the broadcaster has something big planned for WV42.
