Preliminary Dates
Contest opens - July 3rd, time TBA
Contest closes/Voting starts - July 8th, 20:00 GMT
Voting ends - July 13th, 20:00 GMT

The current edition marks the fortieth edition of the world-renowned WorldVision Song Contest. For forty editions, nations from around the world have been united through the medium of music regardless of ethnicity, culture and political ideology to create one of the worlds biggest musical competitions. WorldVision enters a new era; the contest is growing and excelling each edition and the Committee, due to rising interest, decided that an anniversary edition of the WorldVision Song Contest should be held. Hense, WorldVision: The 'Best Of' Edition.

Information regarding the 'Best Of' Edition

Image

'WorldVision: the 'Best Of' Edition' will be an opportunity for nations to re-enter their highest placed artist, or their most-loved entry into the WorldVision Song Contest in a one-off, all-star edition. Should the edition prove to be a success, the Committee could consider investing in future special editions of the WorldVision Song Contest.

Image

In a WorldVision first, two nations will host a WorldVision Song Contest. Both the Kishraeli and Polkopian national television broadcasters will be working closely together to produce this special edition of the Contest. Both Kishrael and Polkopia have won the WorldVision Song Contest a record four times and were an obvious choice in regards to the hosting of the 'Best Of' edition. In regards to how the contest will be set IC'ly, the even placed nations will perform in one city, and the odd placed numbers will perform in another. There will only be one contest thread. Below are the preliminary rules of the 'Best Of' Edition. The host cities are Valinkova, Polkopia and Shatilaurchev, Kishrael.

  1. The 'Best Of' Edition will follow the same format as the regular WorldVision Song Contest. The voting format will remain exactly the same.
  2. Unlike the regular edition, no puppets are allowed to enter the Best Of edition
  3. Nation's are free to enter any entry that has entered a previous edition of the contest under the same name of that nation: nations are free to edit the entry's performance, however nations cannot edit the lyrics. If a nation is found to have edited their lyrics, their entry will be disqualified.
  4. Unfortunately, debutante nations cannot enter the contest, however, if a debutante nation has signed up for the 40th WorldVision Song Contest, said nation will be able to vote in the 'Best Of' Edition.
  5. See here for information on the format of the regular edition of the WorldVision Song Contest

BNRT will happily take place in the 40th Anniversary celebrations for WorldVision. As this is a 'best of' edition, it made obvious sense for BNRT to send the best act from Normandy and Picardy, The Subtle Swords, who came 7th with 104 Points in WV36. Details are below. We here at BNRT can't wait to see what this special edition brings.

Song: Wrong Side
Artist: The Subtle Swords
Tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGdGFtwCNBE

Izmedu signs up. To commemorate this special WorldVision event, RTI selects Jolana Perko & Arijana Kovac's "Illusion," winners of the 38th WorldVision Song Contest and achieving Izmedu's best ever result to date, to represent the country once more.

Artist: Jolana Perko & Arijana Kovac
Song: Illusion
Tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h05-x741Xis

Two other entries, debut entry Anthony Bernardini's "Until the End" and WV37 entry Dejana Horvat's "Harmony" were in consideration for the event due to an expressed desire to return back and celebrate the more traditional style that the country initially sent in its first few entries. Both entries, despite bringing in Izmedu's worst results in the contest, are fondly remembered by Izmeduan WV fans. However, due to availability issues as well as a lack of support within RTI to re-adjust both entries for competition, Illusion was chosen instead.

A poll by TÖBUK has found "Cyanide Eyes" by Veli Pinheiro, Tödlichebujoku's WV32 winning entry, to be the runaway favorite for the 40th anniversary "Best Of" edition, beating out the nation's other winner "Take Me Away" by Seppo Takala and fan favorites "Love Lies" by VulkanischenJáán and "Shadow" by Valtimo and LUMI. Veli himself has gladly agreed to represent his country once more on the international stage.

Artist: Veli Pinheiro

SariSong - WorldVision 'Best Of' Edition

Vidi - "Sing Together"
Emmelie de Forest - "Rainmaker"

The first, and most successful, sari entry to WorldVision, Vidi appeared in the thirty-seconded WorldVision Song Contest, placing in fourth position due to her message of peace and unity. Since WorldVision Vidi has continued her blossoming singing career and has become the face of WorldVision in the islands and will be the commentator for the fortieth addition.

"Oh, I sing, I sing for unity
It's in our hands, join the world band
Oh, I sing, I sing my favourite song
United we sing, divided we fall"

Original Performance

Two Steps Closer - Your Country's Expecting
Within Temptation - "Whole World is Watching"

Duo Lani Decosse and Robert Westley opened the show in Carnise with their stirring patriotic anthem about love in the times of war, although only placing in a mediocre eleventh place in the contest, the song has become the best selling WorldVision entry in The Sarian. Despite the duo breaking up shortly after WorldVision, the two have remained on good terms and Lani has gone on to be a successful artist in her own right.

"Your country's expecting,
Yeah, your country's expecting,
Stand up high"

Original Performance

Rebekka Layce - Revenge Will Be Mine
London Grammar - "Devil Inside"

Before the contest Rebekka Layce was an unknown sixteen year old singing gloomy music, after it she was the gloomy teenager who told the audience to fuck off in the WorldVision Song Contest, despite this she managed to secure the eleventh place for the second year running for The Sarian and has become moderately successful in the dream pop scene, though it was her role in the hit drama, Oakhurst, which she in now best known for.

"Revenge will be mine, revenge will be mine
I hope that you all know that, revenge will be mine
Revenge will be mine, revenge will be mine
I hope you fucking know that revenge will be mine"

Original Performance

Samee - Can't Hold Us
Mika - "We Are Golden"

Despite getting more points than both Two Steps Closer and Rebekka Layce, Samee only managed a disappointing thirteenth place finish in the 35th WorldVision Song Contest, due in part to a performance that was largely described as 'lacklustre' and 'completely uneventful'. However, Samee has gone onto star in the reality TV show "Keeping Up With Kensingtea" and has become in lead voice in the gay rights movement in The Sarian.

"We will always reach for the stars
You can't hold us, You can't hold us
We will always reach for the stars
You can't hold us, You can't hold us"

Anollasia has expressed interest in joining The Best of WorldVision, despite not participating in the contest since the 25th edition as a form of boycott. NATV Music confirmed Anollasian participation and will send the following entry to the contest.

Artist: The Can Band
Song: Home Sweet Home
Tune: Several

The above entry was performed in WorldVision 23, and is Anollasia's highest placing in the contest, at 14th place with 62 points.

Kalosia's in with a national final. Also, "under the same name of the nation" means that I may have enter as Mediterra instead of Kalosia? But it shouldn't really be a problem since puppets aren't allowed. We can't edit the lyrics at all (which means minor updates probably aren't allowed), so I'll just write my WV27 entry off as a dialect. The national final is purely OOC, ICly it's an internal selection.

WorldVision 22, Mediterra: Drums of Love by Sasha Whiner
English language song, came 2nd in Monterra, Mediterra (now Kalosia)
[to the tune of L'Amore è Femmina - Nina Zilli, 00:00 - 01:28]

Can you hear the beat?
What I hear is that the drums of love
Are beating away - boom, boom, boom!

If you listen close
You can hear it too - the drums of love
That makes my heart go boom, boom boom!

(It goes on, it won't stop) It beats just for you
'Cause I love you too - Oh, oh, oh, oh!
(But have you done the same?)
Will you love me too, and beat your drums?

I play the drums of love
No matter if it's day or night (tick tock, 24 hours a day)
I play the drums of love
Loud enough for you to hear it too (that's right, loud enough for you to hear)

I know you're there, hiding somewhere
So come out and join me in my game of love
Drums of love - come here and play with me too
Dum du-dum du-dum du-dum

WorldVision 27, Kalosia: Ležonë d'amurë by Letizia
Kalosian language song, came 2nd in Monterra, Kalosia
[to the tune of Lieblingslied - Mia Diekow, 00:38 - 01:51]

One, two, three, four... five!

Ja kruror tu sur u men korë
E tu vul teži ežistar u la
Afin vulǧa t'amirar ditro
Mi, tu se men karo

Tu se men solo amurë
Komprendrël kë ja bisañ te
Lë monda puve eža nušën
Ja spirar tu vul ež' men

Së's unë ležonë d'amurë

(Men penšëri) Tu laša ǧame
(Ten vocë) Së's teži u men mentë
Kadë tu laša mi per ankë unë minutë
Ja mankë te komë t'lašat unë anni

(E ur) Sedertël ši akant a mi
(Venurël) Tu puve eža men rej
Pe këlo sof, paroli dulci
Nël laš' mi kon nuello

Ja supusa amurë se nušën destina
Sitarëz te men amurë?

I believe you're in my heart
And you'll always be there
So will you love in return
Me, you're my sweetheart

You're my only love
Please understand that I need you
The world can be ours
I hope you'll be mine

This is a love lesson

(My thoughts) You never leave it
(Your voice) Is always in my head
When you leave me even for a minute
I miss you as if you've been gone for a year

(And now) Sit here next to me
(Come) You can be my king
Soft skin, sweet words
Don't leave me with nothing

I suppose love is our destiny
Do you accept my love?

WorldVision 30, Kalosia: La Sitriana by the Dicktators
English and Kalosian language song, came 3nd in Restnov, Polkopia
[to the tune of Krapuleo - Las Ketchup, 01:21 - 02:35]

So we’ll wait for your arrival, or your return if you’ve been here
Take a look at all the neat stuff you can see and do and hear
It might be the pretty coastline or the hotties you’ll come across
Or it might be all the good parties, if you don’t join then it’s your loss
Whatever floats your boat, let’s make sure that it stays like that
You don’t wanna get a sunburn so prepare your favourite hat

Fal la Sitriana-yana-yana-yana-yana
Fal la Sitriana, a si
Fal la Sitriana-yana-yana-yana-yana
Fal la Sitriana
Fal la Sitriana-yana-yana-yana-yana
Fal la Sitriana, a si
Fal la Sitriana-yana-yana-yana-yana
Fal la Sitriana

Surprise the prostitution
Providing eternal heaven
Then rewrite the constitution
So we’ll have fun 24/7, hajde

The Polkopian National Broadcaster had narrowed their selection for the 40th Anniversary special to the four winners of the Worldvision Song Contest. However, it was decided by the Polkopian juries that the song which received the highest amount of points would be the one to represent Polkopia again. Thus, it was decided that Victoria Magdalena would return after securing a win in Worldvision 39, with her song, Galobaya Ceri, which translates from Polkopian as "Blue Skies". The song had received an impressive 183 points, and was the obvious choice for Polkopia.

Song: Galobaya Ceri
