"Six months from Sunday, in her hometown, Barrier City. But the problem is there's almost no weaknesses in her game, I don't think I can do it, so I might jump leagues to A1..." sighed Anja. "A1 is the gladiator competition in Armeia, and even though we haven't had any deaths since 2003, it's really dangerous. But they pay a lot of money just for showing up there."

Ji An
"Are you not ever allowed to lose?" Ji An asked "Because the way you make it sound is to avoid potentially losing you will join a division where even if there hasn't been a death since 03 which means one is overdue and is guaranteed more money you will do it because they have a lot of money?" Ji An asked incredulously

"It's not like that," Anja said frustratedly. "But I send most of my money back to my mom and Tori, that's why I can't lose. I only make half as much when I'm not holding a title. I want to make sure I can take care of them..."

Nita nodded. "We can head to the center city first, I guess."

Anja

Anja put her hand around Ji An's waist but kept looking at Salman. "If you want," she shrugged, wondering if Ji An had heard the whole conversation.

"Sounds good. It is getting close to lunchtime, and I haven't eaten a thing since I got off the plane earlier. Want to see if we can find a restaurant?"

"That's probably a good idea, I think there's one close to campus," said Nita, taking out her phone and looking up directions to the one she'd saw earlier on her way here. "It's not very far, we can walk."

Anja paused for a minute. "We should figure this out later, I'm feeling stressed from all the stuff going on."

"You don't drink? What's wrong with you?" asked Tarik, shocked that there was someone who didn't drink alcohol. "Also, Mavis, grab the strongest thing you can find in there for me."

"There's nothing wrong with that, Tarik." Mavis was suddenly downtrodden, staring at the ground, the cheeriness in her voice suddenly gone and replaced by a monotonous, melancholy somber. Her visage was one of a shameful tiredness, no longer showing a willingness to do anything for the sake of doing it, rather a willingness to do nothing but cry. "Come on, let's go."

"What's wrong?" asked Tarik, guessing that it was something he said. Was it the drinking comment? He didn't know it would offend her... But it really was strange for him to hear about someone who didn't drink at all, because in Armeia and the Keystone Islands, everyone drank, everyone. He put his arm around her to comfort her and touched her cheek.

She shook him off. "Nothing. Let's go." she repeated forcefully with obviously fake, wavering happiness.

"It's obviously something or you wouldn't be reacting like this," Tarik said calmly. "Whatever it is, I'm always here to talk about it..."

Anja sighed, knowing Ji An was right. "I know... The problem is Rose is basically unbeatable, when she fought my best friend in the league, Jayna Tera, she literally broke her face, two rounds in."

Anja paused for a minute. "We should figure this out later, I'm feeling stressed from all the stuff going on."

Ji An
"You'll think of something, I'm sure of it." Ji An replied reassuringly before kissing Anja.

Axelle was going to respond to Tarik, but Mavis beat her to it. Axelle put two and two together easily. Oh dear, she thought. She felt bad for Mavis and her problem. As Mavis ushered Tarik and herself to the liquor store, Axelle walked up beside her.

"Sorry."

"I'm sorry," Tarik said weakly. He backed away, not sure what he could do to comfort Mavis. Every time I feel like things are going good with someone, I mess something up... Am I autistic or something?

Axelle decided to throw in an attempt to the lighten the mood. "Well then... let's get to the liquor store, shall we?"

She stopped, burying her face in her hands, sobbing silently. She sniffled a few times, wiped away the tears, and turned around, noticeably better. "I... I'm sorry you had to see that. It's not your fault." She smiled weakly. "Let's get going, shall we?"

"Yeah, let's go," nodded Tarik, but he was still feeling bad that he'd upset her. I'll make it up to her later, Tarik thought, guessing that something about alcohol made her upset.

"Wait," she paused and opened her purse, handing a wad of stolen items from the pharmacy to Tarik. "Hold these. I'm gonna need room in here." She walked into the liquor store.

Tarik took the items and watched as she walked in. Should I follow her and help? Nah, I have no idea what I'd be doing... Better to let her handle this.

Ji An smiled and didn't care if anybody saw what happened. "How do you feel, did you let it all out?" Ji An asked

"Not yet," said Anja before pulling Ji An in for another passionate kiss. "Now I did," she laughed.

"Not as soul gripping as the first one but glad you are feeling better." Ji An said with a smile before a thought crossed her mind and she faced palmed. "Well Anja I don't mean to add more stress after you just distressed but how do you think Jess is doing right now?" Ji An asked

"Yup, probably for the best if we get out of here," said Tarik, following Mavis. "You'll have to teach me your skills someday, they could prove to be useful."

Anja

Anja considered this. "I haven't seen her since she walked out of class... I should check on her, shouldn't I?"

Anja considered this. "I haven't seen her since she walked out of class... I should check on her, shouldn't I?"

"It'll be better if you do," said Anja. "I might not know what to say, Jess is... Unpredictable when she's upset about something."

Jess

Jess was walking around campus to get some fresh air when she saw a awkward looking boy near the edge of campus. She made a mental note that he was there, but didn't speak.
