Well, we technically shot it down. But we were not actually aiming at it, the Drones simply detected it and assumed it was an enemy. We didn't even know they were in orbit.

FT: Ashkera + PTFS + Andromeda Confederation + Arpeggio of Blue Steel + Ryoko Hakubi.

To be expected. It's obvious to put robots in charge when you're an FT country - synthetics can have minds that are massive and able to conceive ideas that can't even fit inside of a human's head.

Actually, it isn't really, is it? But I'm sure neither of our civilisations want war...

My leaders would find this rather insulting, especially since in the 4 canon encounters they have had with mechanocracies, they didn't find the machines particularly wise or bright (although a few are legitimately scary). If anything, Tinfect's human(?) WA ambassador has the highest standing (In the opinion of various Excidian leaders) among leaders of the League of Mechanocracies, and the leader held in the highest regard of any Excidian leader is the R.u.B.'s Grand Admiral Zahnbruck, who is also human.

Actually, I believe a huge problem is that transapient machines are being roleplayed by sapient humans, and thus are about as intelligent as a human. That and Excidians, like myself, have big egos.

This is kind of an underlying issue with pretty much everything in most Sci-Fi/Fantasy settings. I mean, it is impossible for a human to think like something that is not human.

I personally try to get around the whole "Transapient Machine" thing by stating that the transapient machine leading our nation is always drunk. I have no idea how a machine becomes intoxicated, but it is stupid, and does sort of explain our incompetence.

Aight. Let's just say we were a democracy for 500+ years. We reach the stars, become rhe first interstellar nation on our planet, all that jazz. Then we get our asses handed to us by an FT empire that immediately plunges us into almost 300 years of despotism.

Well we didn't like that. So we screwed them over in 2300 using a lot of underground technology, such as Project Afterlife and the Vox. Basically, when one of us was shot down, they would just come back in an hour or so. I'm not saying we zerg rushed them, but we did. Now? We are all part of the singularity, and we download ourselves into bodies because we like to and to do functional tasks like mining and mass fabricating. Apparently we still have our own consciousnesses though, which makes me question: do the people control Vox? Or does Vox control the people?

It's honestly part of why Ashkera is vague and spooky and its internal bureaucratic structures aren't defined.
They're supposed to be defined using an organizational science that doesn't exist yet. Obviously, since it doesn't exist, I don't know what it would output.
And if their goals and actions are covered in layers of secrecy and conspiracy, then it's unclear whether or not they're meeting their real intentions.

Honestly I think the best solution for writing for a computer in an RP is to write up a list of goals for it and follow them as literally as possible. If it is programmed to increase net happynes, put everyone on drugs and make something like brave new world; stability, 1984; win battles, bioweapons and terrorism. A non biological (brain) computer acts literally and strangely from a human perspective.

To show my respect to Mr. Sam Brown (which is supposedly the guy that made the tank concept art stolen and pasted in many factbooks) I've decided to finally provide a CrappyPaint™ render of the Provost MBT to replace the original image.

The gun was ripped from a Frenkish Greatsword and poured some mountain dew over a modified Rheinmetall gun.

anyway....

the PTFS issues military equipment to its civilians, barring advanced automatic rocket launchers and armoured vehicles, and allows civilian barangays (which are military units themselves) to operate local flak batteries, making the entire citizenry essentially the reserves.
