New Regulations of the Council of Ministers strive to improve food security after series of droughts
VETROMEST, 15th August (Itielian News Agency) - The Council of Ministers in its monthly meeting addressed the issues that affect the agriculture of our country. The meeting presided by comrade Chairman Alexander Stasiuk, has reviewed the report read by comrade Deputy Chairman Boleslav Swarc new challenges that endanger the economic wellbeing of workers in countryside. Irregularities in water supply will also significantly impact the fulfilment of plans of people-owned and collective farms, and other enterprises of state agricultural industry, in particular, comrade Swarc has cited that New Glade Farm in southern Itielia is expected to underfulfil the plan of crop supply by 62%. Furthermore, comrade Swarc has noted that failures of state retail system for agricultural produce and several components of rural infrastructure has led to further disruptions in supplies and even lead to shortages of several key products in isolated communities in southern Itielia. Comrade Swarc has concluded his report with a number of measures to combat the crisis, including consolidating state retail system, strengthen state supervision over the maintenance and proper operation of roads and railroads, and provision of zero-interest credits to developers to expand anti-drought security systems.
Comrade Minister of Agriculture Olga Bogomil reported that in line of the directives of the current National Plan for Economic and Social Development, the Ministry of Agriculture has undertaken important work in increasingly important field of preparing the national agricultural system for the climate transition experienced throughout the world. Comrade Minister of Transport and Communications Severina Zyma noted that the systemic irregularities of the fulfilment of transport development strategies by local authorities, and as she pointed out, the fleet of trucks in critical areas has significantly aged beyond the range permitted by the regulations set by the government. Comrade Minister of the Environment and Ecology Dmitri Rog has reported that the national plan for carbon emission reduction, set by the decisions of spring and autumn plenums of the Party's Central Committee in 2021 has successfully been completed, but as he noted, the further efforts for tackling the global climate change requires cooperation of all countries.
The Council of Ministers has adopted the proposals submitted by the reporters, and on the proposal of the comrade Chairman of the Council of Ministers, legislative bills will be submitted to the Supreme People's Council and its Presidium to combat the decline in food security produced by recent droughts. Furthermore, comrade Stasiuk has stated that new technologies must be used to effectively combat challenges provided by the climate change to agriculture. Future relevant decisions will be discussed on the meetings of the Council's Presidium in subsequent weeks.
