Ministry of Industrial Development, Commonwealth of Hintuwan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | 2022 | January 26th

The Ministry of Industrial Development reports that pork price continues to fuel an elevated inflation. Based on our findings, Hintuwan pork CPI increased by an average 8% for the first eleven months of 2021. Meat price inflation topped 16.8% in 2021, the highest annual price increase of any major food item since 2012. To put this into perspective perspective, rice, another trade regulated commodity, was 11.0%, back in 2011. The Ministry blames the lack of competition for the high pork price inflation. We estimate that only four large conglomerates control 55-85% of the pork supply chains in the country. Furthermore, an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in May of 2021 severely crippled the capabilities of those manufacturers to maintain the usual rates of pork sales. With this industrial structure, the bargaining power over pricing is stacked against farmers and ranchers and, ultimately, consumers.

In order to meet consumer market demand the government of Hintuwan recognizes the need to continue importing pork products and immediately compensate for the shortfall in domestic supply. This afternoon, President Bulalacao approved an increase in the maximum amount of pork to be imported from abroad under the minimum access volume (MAV) of the country's current trade policy by 23,290 metric tonnes (MT).

The logistics of granting tax incentives to foreign pork producers and manufacturers is currently being debated by our national legislature, the Kapulungang Bayan. Other political responses to the ongoing crisis are also being considered. Nonetheless, the Ministry of Industrial Development calls on the international private sector to invest in Hintuwan during this time of need and help in stabilizing our emerging market economy.

Signed,
Benaiah Magbantay
Minister of Industrial Development

Weekly Presidential Election Poll Shows Increase in Support for Free Trade and Social Democrat Parties, Drop in Support for Conservatives

Image

ALLIN --- Ten Scaedodej's weekly Presidential Election Poll has shown a decrease in support for the Conservative, Libertarian, and Independent candidates president along with an increase in support for the Free Trade, Communist, and Social Democrat candidates. Political analysts still say it is still too early to conclusively predict who the leading candidate will be in the coming month. The poll surveyed a representative sample of 1,000 citizens of Scaedia to determine who they plan to vote for in the coming election. Experts suspect the increase in support for left-leaning candidates was in part caused by the Daet's choice refusal to expand the public health system to include dental procedures, which was shot down by conservative members of the Daet.

The most recent poll had 35% of respondents state that current president Ashi Banglar was their first choice for the election. Ara Barus, the candidate from the Social Democrat Party, came in second with 33% of the vote. Both of these candidates saw an increase from their support a week ago, with 33% of participants supporting Banglar and 25% supporting Barus in the January 18th poll. The Communist Party's candidate, Solmun Ande, also saw an increase in support by one point.

Peaceful Demonstration Calls for Daet to Protect Right to Display Throngist and Other Controversial Imagery

BEJORN --- The negative pushback against new legislation restricting the display of political imagery deemed too controversial has reached a climax in the city of Bejorn. Over 500 protestors began marching around Bejorn City Hall carrying signs with messages criticizing the government and the police for the controversial addition to the Scaedic Legal Code. Ten Scaedodej interviewed several protestors during the march and found that there is a great deal of diversity in thought among the demonstration. Most came out to the march in support of free speech and compared the legislation to the "thought policing" experienced during the nationalist regime of the early republic, however there is a minority of demonstrators that seem to support Throngism. Throngism was, according to these protestors, unfairly and unreasonably included within a bill that mostly forbade Scaedic Nationalist iconography. Though there are not many self-proclaimed Throngists in Scaedia, they were quick to complain about the government's sudden attempts to restrict Throngism. Even some who are not Throngists took issue with their inclusion in the bill as there is no major Scaedic Throngist movement. They claim that the move was an attempt to get into the good graces of nations that oppose the Eastern Tripartite.

Scaedic Nationalism's dark shadow looms over modern Scaedia whether their images are outlawed or not. Fraed Hunko, chairman of the Scaedic Society Against Hate or SSAH, has been among those who oppose the bill. Hunko believes that attempting to outlaw public nationalist demonstrations will only push them to be more radical. The SSAH's official stance states that the best way to prevent hate is "[an] open and reasonable discussion" as it will surely "reveal the fallacious arguments of [nationalists]." The SSAH's official website has a list of various icons and sayings that Scaedic Nationalists use to identify each other in public forums or on the internet. Hunk told Ten Scaedodej that he believes preventing them from openly revealing their ideology will simply create more "dog whistles" with which to identify one another.

There are, however, still supporters of the bill. Some Dredic advocacy groups believe the bill is a step in the right direction to prevent hate crimes against the Dreds of Scaedia. Dreds in particular were often targeted during the nationalist regime as political prisoners and forced into labor camps. Within 2021, over 25 violent hate crimes were committed against Dreds. This number is down from past years but is still far too high according to the Dred Advocacy Alliance (DAA), which is an organization which publishes yearly reports on the difficulties Dreds face in Scaedia. Many Dreds report that they've experienced harrasment at the hands of Scaedic Nationalists, who view them as a lesser people. The DAA believes that the Act Against Controversial Imagery will help reduce some of the open harrassment Dreds and other minorities experience in Scaedia.

Aprosia Daily

— 20th of January, 2022 —
Estral imperialism threatens Keverai, President Hamaném; "All options are on the table"

KEVARA, STATE OF KINSLAND, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF KEVERAI / DAŠARÓD, DAŠARÓD CAPITAL REGION, STATE OF MÍNŠEI, APROSIAN UNION

With continued illegal Keveraite and Estran security actions against ethnic Aprosians and Tsunters in the Republic of Keverai, the Estral Republic has continued to pressure Keverai to follow the Estran security policy. As the mass arrests of minorities in Keverai continue, actions condemned by several nations, including the other members of the Eastern Tripartite, Aizcona has doubled down its pressure on Keverai in the form of increased "defensive" flights over Keverai by the Estran Air Force.

The Estran authorities have accused Aprosia and the other Eastern Tripartite members of "collectively bullying Keverai''. These accusations follow a combined statement by the Minister of Ethnic Affairs and the Minister of Foreign Affairs against the illegal mass arrests of ethnic Aprosians in Keverai, declaring the possibility of diplomatic actions if Keverai and Aizcona do not cease their actions against one of the largest minority communities in Keverai. Aprosia's line was supported by its Eastern Tripartite partners Balnik and Lesva, both declaring the possibility of economic actions against Keverai.

Following these accusations and actions by Aizcona and with the lack of statements by the Keveraite authorities despite Aprosian requests, the Federal Government of the Aprosian Union held an extraordinary meeting yesterday in Dašaród, with the main point of focus being the current "Keverai issue" as the Minister of Ethnic Affairs Muhámad Sardeží called it. Referred to as the "most recent disturbing foreign development against Aprosia" by the President of the Union Alí Hamaném, the President continued to state;

"Despite differences in nationality, an Aprosian is and shall always continue to be an Aprosian. It is the natural responsibility of Aprosia as the continuation of the ancient Aprosiatic civilization to actively protect and guard the wellbeing of the Aprosiatic people, be they wherever in the region. In these situations, where the security and stability of Aprosiatic communities is being actively threatened and where the ways of diplomacy have been proven ineffective, it is our duty to consider all possible actions. And as of now, all options are on the table."

The Council of Federal Economics has stated in their press release on potential economic actions against Keverai if the situation in Keverai is not solved. Major Aprosian companies have invested into the Keveraite economy, especially outside the major cities.

Additionally, the President of the Union under his role as the Commander-in-chief has scheduled a meeting with the General Staff of the Aprosian Revolutionary Armed Forces following the usage of the Estral Air Force in the advancement of Estral imperialism to counter the aggressive posturings.

Arcadia, 15/01/2022

INTERNATIONAL: Diplomatic delegation leaves Arcadia
The diplomatic delegation, led by Minister Ignace Saunier, was seen at Arcadia International Airport boarding a flight to Arnton, the capital of Ainslie.

On the morning of this Thursday, the 27th, a large diplomatic delegation was spotted at Arcadia International Airport, departing towards Ainslie. Since the worsening of the medical crisis in Laeden, the support provided by doctors, nurses and health consultants from Ainslie has proved crucial to the stabilization of health services in the country, and the Ministry of Health in Laeden has already announced that it is studying the adoption of new care protocols and the organization of care services, based on advice and technical opinions offered by professionals at Ainslie. According to government sources, there is a feeling behind the scenes of politics that Laeden owes a debt to Ainslie for receiving such significant help at such an urgent time. For this reason, Consul Gaspard d’Albignac determined that a diplomatic delegation be sent to the country, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ignace Saurnier, in order to demonstrate to the Ahnslen authorities the high level of appreciation the Laedenian government has for the assistance that has been received.

Internal sources also confided that Minister Ignace Saurnier was sent to offer an invitation directly to Prime Minister Elliana Gifford to appear in Arcadia for a high-profile ceremony. The ceremony, rumor has it, will be intended to celebrate the friendly relations between the two countries and to present Prime Minister ahnslen with a medal from the Legion of Honor, the highest order of merit in Laeden, which is seldom awarded, especially for foreigners. If this is true, then it is a great honor that is being bestowed towards the Prime Minister, and it is expected that this gracious gesture will help bring the two peoples closer together.

Rumors aside, the explanation for the diplomatic delegation’s departure to Arnton is official that negotiations are to be had in areas such as legal cooperation, extradition of wanted criminals and further collaboration in ongoing criminal investigations. The Laedenian Ambassadors are also keen to discuss matters related to buzz control and to piracy fighting in the southern seas with their ahnslen counterparts. However, while those topics are certainly important and very relevant, they do not explain why such a senior ranking official such as the Minister of Foreign Relations himself, an elderly man, would be going along with the other diplomats, which also adds more fuel to the rumor that the Laedenian government is indeed determined to give one step further in their relationship with Ainslie.

POLITICS: Officers protest against the lack of investment in the armed forces
Members of the military complain about the dwindling numbers of soldiers and the state of disrepair of the laedenian equipment.

In a very rare case of breach of discipline, members of the Armed Forces of Laeden went public to denounce what they call “the scrapping and disuse of the defense forces”. Although the military itself is legally prohibited from making any kind of public statement of a political nature, their wives serve as a spokesperson for their dissatisfaction, giving interviews and narrating the difficulties experienced in the barracks in order not to compromise their husbands. According to Marie Chalon, vice president of the Laeden Military Family Association, she told the press: “A country that cares about its security and sovereignty cannot subject its armed forces to such a secondary importance. The military helped write Laeden's history and today they are not even remembered by the government. The working conditions are bad, the equipment is in poor condition and often the military has to spend their own money to buy weapons, uniforms and security equipment that should be given by the government!”

Internal sources in the Armed Forces confirm that the situation is precarious. Although the Air Force personnel were less emphatic in their criticism, since the FAeL has managed to maintain a good level of preparedness of its troops and the availability of its aircraft, the same cannot be said of the Army and Navy. According to complaints received by L'Héraut, less than half of the vessels of the Armada de Laeden are seaworthy, and an even smaller number are fit for combat. “Everything is missing: lifeboats, fire-fighting equipment, ship machinery parts, ammunition and even personnel. We often don't have enough military personnel to operate a ship, so we need other vessels that are not on a mission to hand over part of their troops to us,” said a naval officer, who declined to be identified.

In the Army, the situation is no better. “The Annual Budget Law provides for the Army to have a staff of 72,000 soldiers. Currently, this number is 32,000. We have less than half of our staff, and many of them are employed in administrative and bureaucratic activities. Our combat strength is greatly diminished, it is common to see battalions with a third of the expected strength. Under these circumstances, the Army can barely perform its functions. National defense is severely compromised, and any kind of ground force deployment is simply impossible under the current circumstances,” said an army officer, heard confidentially. Another soldier, this time a sergeant, narrated surprising facts: “Soldiers in training are released before noon so that the Army does not have to pay for their food. Last month, an internal Army notice was issued for air conditioners and heaters to remain off to avoid energy use. All military exercises this year have been cancelled, and the only investment is being directed towards training officers and sergeants, to at least allow the Army to have a skilled workforce. Even so, today I would say that we are incapable of operating, and in all the barracks there is a feeling of lack of motivation. Morale is low!”

In an official note, the government did not deny the criticism, but recalled that any party-political activity by the military is punishable by imprisonment. Although Consul Gaspard d'Albignac does not show much interest in military matters, his advisers have warned him of the imminent danger that discontent in the armed forces poses. In response, the government appointed Admiral Maurice Galland, a highly decorated naval officer with a long history of naval military service in his family, to the post of Minister of Defence. In his inaugural speech, Admiral Galland undertook to seek the technical improvement of the Laedenian military and the updating and maintenance of its war material and equipment, in order to enable the country to have modern means of defense and highly qualified military personnel. motivated and empowered. According to political advisers, Galland is a strong nominee for the Ministry of Defense, enjoying great prestige in the Laeden Senate and having decades of military experience. It is not yet known how his official relationship with the Consul d'Albignac will be, however, and while some are optimistic and suggest that Galland will be a figure who will guarantee security and serenity for the young Consul's government, others fear that the prestige of the new Defense Minister obscures d'Albignac's role in public affairs.

ENTERTAINMENT: Musical frenzy boosts air ticket sales
The upcoming WinterSplash Music Festival in Uprea is shaking up Laeden’s youth and promises to be one of the biggest events in January.

Uprea’s annual music festivals never fail to catch the attention of the music-craven laedenian youth. This year’s WinterSplash Festival couldn’t be different. With a wide set of attractions, which suprisingly includes the recently freed rapper Requin, the Festival is one of the most important events in the international music circuit and thus attracts youngsters and music fans from all accross the world. The economical impacts of such events cannot be understated. Not only did the air companies promise to increase the number of flights to Vasca, the capital city of Uprea, in order to meet the extremely high demands for airplane tickets, the clothing retail stores also reported a huge spike in sales, specifically of music-related attires.

As the school year’s beginning approaches and the winter ends, the Festival is the final oportunity for many youths to enjoy themselves before they find themselves back into the classrooms. Despite the preocupation of so many parents, who understandably fear having their children travel abroad to such an event, the laedenian diplomatic authorities came forward to ease their concerns and to confirm that the laedenian diplomatic mission in Uprea is always there to help.

Uprea is a friendly nation, so there is nothing to be afraid of” one of the diplomatic staff noted. “Nonetheless, we’re working with their law enforcement agencies to make sure that this experience will be as safe as possible for the laedenian tourists. In any case, we recommend that all laedenians plan their trip ahead, come in groups and avoid trouble at all costs. If any problem happens, the laedenian embassy will be more than willing to help”.

It is expected that at least 10.000 laedenians will attend to the festivities, although the number might be even higher.

DFP Victory in National First!

After two recounts, the results of the presidential election have been announced! For the first time in federation history, a political party other than the Doman Labor Party and National Party has been elected to the presidency. Beyn Tarr was declared the winner after two close recounts, with the margin of victory noted as being 100,000 votes, with 7,157,000 votes. Marcius Brenshal came in 2nd with 7,056,000 votes, and Kolen Thak came in 3rd with 3,600,000 votes.

Beyn Tarr giving his inauguration speech

Beyn Tarr was confirmed by congress in a vote of 197-3 and was sworn in an hour later on the 27th. Today he gave a speech outlining his idea for the country's future. In it he promised to modernize the military, crack down on crime and corruption, as well as making Domanania a player on the regional stage. He focused on promoting strong economic ties in underdeveloped countries as well as ensuring regional stability. These kinds of promises are far tamer than the party has promoted in the past.

Tarr's victory is thought to be on behalf of the political instability in other parties, which in the news cycle, painted the other candidates as connected to an unfit party. The Domanania First Party has seen a rapid rise in popularity over the last 6 years, and in the congressional elections later this year it is expected that the DFP will gain additional seats, which would make them one of the 3 largest parties in congress and shape future policies.

That being said, Marcius Brenshal gave a concession speech congratulating Tarr on his victory, but warning the country that he is a radical in far right politics and his attempts to heal the partisan politics in the congress by electing him prime minister was a mistake. Many criticized the otherwise moderate Brenshal that taking such a hard stance against Tarr would not heal the rifts in congress, and perhaps if he was this firm during the campaign that he might have won over more support.

Tarr is expected to announce his prime minister within the week. He has stated he is taking into consideration prime candidates, but says that he will most likely keep his choice in-party to avoid partisan issues in the cabinet which plagued the last administration.

4th Edition of 2022, Late January

WinterSplash Festival a full success

31st of January 2022,
Vasca, Federal Republic of Uprea

Tens of thousands are currently attending the WinterSplash festival in Vasca. The non-stop four-day party event has once again attracted many people from all around the world and has presented itself with top-notch names from the music scene. The event is one of the biggest of its kind in the Western Isles and brings together many different cultures.

Among the artists performing is the rapper Requin from Laeden who just recently was released from prison. This publicity, one must admit, has only played in his favor as people lined up at Stage 2 when it was time for his performance. Recently released song "Heartbeat" from the ahnslen-lesvan band Violet Lightning was also performed at the show on the 29th. An absolute no-brainer of a decision from the coordinators, as the song scored number one chart placements in many different countries including Uprea. Many people also decided to go with the retro style displayed in the music video and outfits reminding of the clothing style of the 1970s and 1980s could be seen around the festival.
Trap and EDM fans also got to see the ahnslen performers WILLOZE and Danzi. Danzi, who has played many successful gigs at the Summer- and WinterSplash festivals including one landing him in the Top 3 of All-Time performances, returned to the festival with a brand new album.
Eilfre Garaen from Wimberlisk performed her song "Saereseil" inspired by her own personal experiences. With the fast tempo and upbeat sounds, the song fit right in the overall vibe of the festival and caught the attention of many visitors.
Many uprean artists also attended the festival including some of the biggest stars in uprean music today 808Love, Trespas, SeventySEVEN and loading99%.

The overall vibe of the festival can only be described as one wild, joyous, multicultural party with smiling and partying people all over the place. The warm temperatures and sunny weather also play into the festival as many people came dressed in outfits inspired by different types of music genres.
The party is expected to end today with a loud bang as people will party on until the mourning hours, with a big lightshow and firework show planned for midnight.

New Transportation Bill authorizes big purchase from Belantica

28th of January of 2022,
Vasca, Federal Republic of Uprea

Uprean Interstate Travel has long been a problem and a topic to be addressed by the parliament. As of the 28th of January the parliament has passed the new transportation bill laid before the Parliament by the Green Party for Uprea, with an big majority.
The plan includes an complete overhaul of existing railroad connections, allowing more commuters and workers to travel in between states in Uprea. With Uprea long being a climate neutral country, it has been one of the rather shameful dark spots of the uprean climate resume, that there are really no alternatives to interstate travel then by going the distance with a car. With this new bill that is supposed to change.
The track overhaul, which is scheduled to begin in late February, will allow for more trains to transport more Upreans from A to B in a green, efficient and fast alternative to the highways.

The Bill also includes a major train purchase from Belantica. The government approached the belantican Government because of their excellent international reputation in train manufacturing and specifically asked for trains who fit into the profile of being fast, green and efficent. Together with the Ministry for Energy and Infrastructure, the belantican Government then worked out a plan to fit into the planned overhaul of the train system in Uprea.
The purchase includes 50 EMU sets with 4-6 wagons, specifically tailored to the expected travelers who will be using the newly installed routes. An estimate on the overall cost for the infrastructure overhaul is yet to be set and will be made available from the national budget for infrastructure.

In other News:
- Beyn Tarr named new President of Domanania.
- Laeden sends diplomatic delegation to Ainslie.
As everything here is fictional. Statements made do NOT represent my IRL views.

High-Speed Rail links between Nakanojo and Ishikita inaugurated

Image

Today, officials from the Taishūtō Central Committee were present in the city of Ishikita, Seiko Prefecture, to celebrate the official opening of high-speed rail connections across Saikaitō between the port cities of Nakanojo in the north and Ishikita in the south. This railway links to existing ferry connections with Tomigata (Nakanojo) and Kanaiwa (Ishikita), creating a major linkage which will expediate the movement of both people and goods along this vital economic corridor. Seiko's Prefect Yamamura Kei celebrated the link as a means of bringing people to the south of the country, a region which is often overlooked by tourists in favour of areas closer to the capital of Kurohama.

"This railway opens the door to both domestic and international tourism to the Nanjima Islands, as well as allowing our region's traditional industries to shine brighter on the global stage by linking them with the world."

The trains were built domestically, but in partnership with Utō's erstwhile comrades in Aprosia. Such collaboration has remained a key part of both nation's economic strategies and will continue into the future. Success in this venture is hoped to project Utō and Aprosia as viable manufacturing partners to the developing nations of the isles and presents another outlet in the market.

Among those at the inaugural ceremony was tennis star Hiraoka Teruji, who returned to Utō following his successes in the Wimberlisk Open Tennis Championship where he placed second. A native of Yokkaichi, Honda-do, О̄mori Prefecture, which is serviced by the rail link, Hiraoka was enthousiastic about his region growing more connected with major urban centres in the country.

"Growing up, I was highly limited by growing up in a rural area and had to live with my uncle in Nakanojo just to have the infrastructure to develop as a tennis player. This new rail connection will allow players from smaller towns like me to compete in larger competitions and progress as players, and inject more economic activity into rural areas which have otherwise struggled due to urban flight."

Locals interviewed along the route shared hopes that the rail link would make it easier for commuters to live in more rural areas, helping to develop these areas as well. Since economic reforms in the 90s, many rural areas have seen shrinking populations as young people have moved to larger cities for work.

This has been Muraoka Ran, People's Daily.

The city of Entrogo lays in ruins.

CAPPAREUS - Last week, the coastal cities of Barvoka were hit by Hurricane Roberts, a nor’easter formed of the Hyukaian coast. In several towns, obstacles in its path were ripped apart as floodwaters rose to nearly 8 feet.

On January 23, the storm made landfall in Masaka. Although strong, damage was not significant and Roberts quickly passed through. The next day, it grew to a Category 3 status and advanced towards Barvoka. For nearly 3 days, Roberts raged on until it eventually left Hyukai and continued in a southwesterly direction. 38 people were killed while an estimated 800 were injured. $82 billion Skrovas in damage was done. Hurricane Roberts is the largest storm in Hyukaian history.

In response, the Hyukaian Coast Guard (HCG), Bureau of Hyukaian Emergencies (BHE) and National Guards have been sent to help with disaster relief. In Entrogo, the once lively has trashed with. Once peaceful neighbourhoods were destroyed. 400,000 homes were destroyed. Around 10,000 disaster relief personnels were sent. In addition, Squad VI of the Uprean Natural Crisis Response Unit (UNCRU) were deployed assist the commonwealth. Lesva has also offered assistance in wake of the hurricane. They have dispatched emergency and relief teams to Entrogo and Charsenfield.

Meanwhile, the government is being criticised for their mismanagement and lack of preparation. Lieutenant Governor of Barvoka Lionel "Leon" Pérez has also resigned this morning as a result.

Hyukaian Minister of Trade Ernest Flemmings (Left) and the Laedenian Minister of Trade (Right)

CAPPAREUS -The Minister of Trade Ernest Flemmings and his Laedenian counterpart has signed the Hyukai-Laeden Trade Agreement in Cappareus today. The agreement will help to provide each of the nations needs.

Laeden is a republic located in the South Mesder Sea. The lush island nation is a large producer of agriculture and livestock but is technologically unprogressive. The opposite could be said for Hyukai, which although is highly advanced in the technological sector, struggles to create sufficient healthy food for its population due to its harsh climate. The two nations have reached out to each other and hiave agreed to become trade partners. They will both supply each others demands in the multi-billion Skrovas scheme. This move is supposed to be highly beneficial to the two countries.

As per agreement, Laeden will produce and supply of food including plants and live animals. Hyukai will export computers, electronics, aircraft, cars and other items from the technological and security sector. Many benefits which would follow includes:

  • Zero tarrifs on Hyukaian aircraft exports. The Hyukaian aircraft manufacturer Yakalov will be supplying Laeden a fleet worth billions of Skrovas.
  • Tax-free on 91% of goods including meat, wheat, fruits, vegetables and soft drinks.
  • Foreign food such as coffee beans, spices and sugar canes may face taxes up to 6% upon entering Hyukai under the Hyukaian Foreign Tariff.
The deal also allows Hyukaians working in Laeden access to work visas. The same may be applied to Laedenians working in Hyukai

Brown Cougar Protection Act Signed

Disaster A Brown Hyukaian Cougar.

SAN ARLOS - The House of Representatives has passed a bill, outlawing the hunting, possession, sale, purchase, trade, import and export of any Brown Hyukaian Cougar or part of it; dead or alive. The law was enacted in response to the decline of the Brown Hyukaian Cougar population.

In recent years, the hunting of Brown Hyukaian Cougars have become more common as their prices increase. Although the sale and trade of it has become outlawed, many have. continued to smuggle them with the help of foreign boats, just beyond the maritime limit. They are then sold around the world. However, their most valuable part is the skull, which is said to bring good luck and wealth in several cultures. In 2020, a tanker were seized after found smuggling 8 Cougars off the coast of Alventon. All perpetrators were tried and found guilty.

For decades, activists have urged the government to outlaw poaching. From 2000 to 2020, the population dropped from 13,000 to 8,000. Although national parks were created to protect the Cougars, many broke into them and hunted them down. Thus, the government finally introduced the law. Anyone caught in possession with one or selling one will be fined 70500 Skrovas ($100,000 USD) or face up to a year of jailtime.

Predictions for the March 2022 National Congress Election
By Luisa Portillo

As every knowledgeable Ferronesian should know, the quadrennial national General Election period will occur from Monday, 14 March to Friday, 18 March. Numerous positions will be decided on in less than a month and a half: representatives of the National Congress and the Congressional President, who are elected every two years; and the ministers of the Cabinet, the justices of the Supreme Court, and most importantly, the President of Ferronesia, who are elected every four years. In this article, I'll be focusing on my predictions concerning what the country's legislature will be like after the election.

The National Congress currently has 394 delegates. The province of Loboc has the most representation in the legislature with 64 congresspeople, and Aurica has the least national legislators with only 12. The Communist Party, which has dominated national politics since Ferronesia's independence, has the highest delegation in the Congress in 8 provinces and holds 187 seats within it. The Christian Democratic Party dominates the representation of 3 provinces and accounts for 95 seats. The National Livelihood Union represents the majority of 2 provinces and holds 76 seats. The Green Party and the Alliance for Monarchical Restoration do not have majority representation in any province, but they respectively have 22 and 7 congressional positions. Seven congresspeople are not affiliated with any political party.

Image
Image

In relation to the current state of the campaigns of candidates for the National Congress, I am expecting the Communists to retain their majority representation in Zacatecas, Talibon, Sagbayan, Danao, Ubay, and Catigbian after the election. The Christian Democrats will hold their dominance in Nuevas Baleares, but are bound to lose their majority in Aurica to the Liberals. In addition to this, they have a reasonable chance of overtaking the Communists in Huancavelica and San Miguel. As for the Liberals, I think that their majority representation of Carbonica and Loboc will increase. The Greens have a good chance of attaining a majority in a province's representation (in this case, Camarones) for the first time since 2018.

The recent resurgence of gold mining in Aurica combined with skepticism concerning the Christian Democrats' tenet of restricting individual possession of precious metals is the most likely factor behind the Liberals' recent successful campaigns in that province. Huancavelica and San Miguel are known for having highly conservative populations. These two provinces were likely the most disapproving of the federal government during one-party Communist rule. Since the Reforms of 1994, these provinces have been battlegrounds for dominant provincial representation in the National Congress by the Communists and Christian Democrats. A seafood shortage in Camarones, which has been ongoing since 2019, has been blamed on the buildup of trash along the province's coast resulting in the mass deaths of South Mesder tuna and the famous Ferronesian blue shrimp. The Greens' doctrine of regular maintenance of the environment has recently gained ground in that province, which hopes to revive its important fishing industry.

As for the office of Congressional President, which incumbent Fidel Tabili has stated his intention to not be re-elected for, there are currently three candidates that are likely to win that position. Palmira de Luca, a Communist from Ubay, has had the most successful campaign. She pledges to continue Tabili's support for legislation protecting the rights of LGBT+ people and continuing reforms of the old national education system. Angel Castaño from Sagbayan has earned the favor of the majority of the nation's Christian Democrats. He wishes to retain the decriminalized status of general homosexuality, but also seeks to return the illegality of homosexual marriage which was repealed in 2006. Liberal Samuel Cordero of Loboc has also gained ground within his party, notable for his support for allowing the increase of gold, coal, and mercury mining in order to bolster the national economy albeit at the expense of local ecosystems.

In conclusion, while the Communist Party might lose some support, they will still be the biggest force within the National Congress; the rival Liberals and Christian Democrats will continue gaining ground; and the Green Party might make a slight comeback. In my next article, I will cover my predictions concerning the election of the Supreme Court's justices and the Executive Branch's officers.

Lesva dismantles warplanes bought not from the Eastern Tripartite allies

Lesva dismantles non-Balnik-made and non-Aprosia-made warplanes it bought earlier from other countries, in order to replicate the technology

Image

Minister of the Lesvan Armed Forces Noie Verant said that Lesva will be doing the same thing with warplanes purchased from non-Eastern Tripartite states as it did with tanks purchased from non-Eastern Tripartite states. The tanks purchased earlier not from Balnik or Aprosia were dismantled and the technology was adopted by Lesva for the purposes of possibly producing Lesvan-made tanks in the future based on that technology. And now, Lesva will be doing the same with warplanes. Ministry of the Lesvan Armed Forces by the order of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva has authorized that tanks purchased earlier not from Aprosia and Balnik and not from the Eastern Tripartite in general, be dismantled and their technology adopted for the future manufacturing of warplanes by Lesva. The future Lesvan-made warplanes would be created for the use by the Lesvan Air Force, but would also be made available for international export and selling it to countries that the Eastern Tripartite does not perceive as being possible strategic adversaries. Other than that, an unofficial foreign policy doctrine of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva regarding military strategy prioritizes Lesva purchasing armaments mainly from its' Eastern Tripartite allies like Balnik and Aprosia.

In other news
  • Lesvan emergency response and relief teams, medical professionals and military officers resume providing aid in Entrogo and Charsenfield in Hyukai after Hurricane Roberts hit the country.

  • Throngist Movement Party of Lesva reiterates Lesva's iron clad stance in solidarity with Aprosia on the Keverai problem.

POLITICS: Defense Minister is promoted to the newly created office of Proconsul
The admiral Maurice Galland, recently appointed to Defense Minister, is surprisingly led to a new office that has never been created in the history of Laeden

In a surprising turn of events, probably motivated by the recent discovery of huge mineral reserves on Sunset Isle, the government officially promoted Admiral Maurice Galland to the rank of Proconsul. This new position, the constitutionality of which is still the subject of discussion among legal experts in Laeden, has the function of conducting all the country's military forces and operations in times of war, in cases where the national leader (the Consul) finds himself if unable. The move came as a surprise to the whole of Laedenian society, representing perhaps the biggest political rupture since the beginning of the republican era.

Consul Gaspard d’Albignac, apparently unaware of the political movement that happened behind his back, was informed of Galland’s promotion during the opening ceremony of the Integrated Research and Development Center, a huge scientific research complex located a few kilometers from Illion. Visibly shaken, the Laedenian leader declined to comment on the political movement, limiting himself to wishing Galland success and saying that he trusts the country's leadership and institutions. Nevertheless, it is evident that the creation of the position of Proconsul represents a defeat for the notoriously conciliatory, diplomatic and humanist policy defended by d’Albignac.

When consulted by L’Héraut, lawyer Ferdinand Peste explained that “The legal provision that allows the creation of this position has never been expressly revoked, which means that it still exists in our legal system. It is possible to question the validity of this norm, since in many ways it is entirely incompatible with a democratic State. The political maneuver that was seen for the creation of the proconsulate looked more like a velvet blow than a democratic and republican movement”. The lawyer also pointed out that the norm establishing the position of Proconsul determines that the duration of this position is six months, and can be extended up to twice for the same period, and that the position does not admit resignations. This means that, even if the crisis is resolved promptly, Galland will remain as a sort of “warlord” of Laeden until the middle of the year.

In contrast, political scientist Armand Lisair argued “The state arrangement in Laeden privileges stability, institutional autonomy and the health of the republican structure. The creation of the proconsular office represents a movement of the political system to preserve the Laedenian Republic in the face of a possible conflict that, from the perspective of the leaders, could jeopardize national sovereignty. It is a movement that is strange from a strictly democratic point of view, since nowadays the automatic equation of democracy and the government of elected representatives has become naturalized. Although this is an important element of a democratic regime, it is not the only one, and it is possible that in moments of great institutional tension, the State moves in order to safeguard its most fundamental interests”.

Considering that never before in the history of the country has this post been created, even during periods of conflict and war, it is surprising that the highest authorities in Laeden have chosen to do this during what is apparently no more than a minor conflict with [nation] ]Martenyika[/nation] about the possession of a tiny island, even though this island is rich in natural resources. The measure denotes a certain bellicosity and aggressiveness of the Laedenian government that, historically, has never been seen on an occasion like this. It is necessary to wait for the next developments of this crisis, but, at first, it is difficult to find plausible justifications for the creation of this position.

INTERNATIONAL: Avaronian officials are upset about the laedenian handling of the Sunset Crisis
High ranking members of the avaronian government are critical of the absence of the avaronian consular authorities during the aprehension and interrogation of the boatmen that fled from the Sunset Isle to Laeden.

Inside sources claim that Avaronese authorities were very displeased and disconcerted to discover that Avaronese researchers who were on Sunset Isle were captured, detained and interrogated by Laedenian authorities without the presence of the local Avaron consular staff. The failure, the sources narrate, caused unease in relations between the two countries, and was interpreted in Avaron as a sign that they do not enjoy the full confidence of the Laedenian government.

The diplomatic gaffe could have serious repercussions, since at this delicate moment the Laedenian government has been articulated to seek international support in several countries, and Avaron is one of its closest partners, both in the political and in the political sphere. in the commercial.

To remedy the situation, a visit by Prime Minister Enrico Avigneri to Proconsul Galland was arranged. Rumors say that Proconsul will receive Avigneri at the Crystal Palace, a historic building known for its enormous luxury and elegance, located in the heart of the Adreau mountains. The gesture, in addition to representing a way of honoring Prime Minister Avigneri, can also be interpreted as an attempt by Galland to discuss state affairs away from the spotlight and media attention.

POLITICS: Demonstrations for peace and against conflict erupt in the country's largest cities
Several Laedenian cities registered protests organized by civil society entities, criticizing the conflict and the way the government is dealing with territorial disputes with Martenyika.

Huge demonstrations were observed in major cities across the country. The worsening of the conflict with Martenyika and the mobilization of military forces generated revolt and indignation in the Laedenian population, which questions the legitimacy of the Proconsul and criticizes the militarist and imperialist way that has guided the way the government approaches the crisis by Sunset Isle. With placards of "Make love, not war", "War is barbarism" and shouts, the marches stopped traffic on the main streets of Illyria and Volyènne, while protesters gathered outside the Laeden Senate in Arcadia, demanding changes in diplomatic posture. from the country.

“Why should we support such a conflict?” one of the protesters asked. “They say the island is rich. But who will get rich by exploiting it are the big businessmen, not us!”.

Among the protesters, many are young and a large number of them are newcomers to Laeden, having been to Uprea last week for the Wintersplash Musical Festival. It was also possible to see in the protests a notable presence of Martenyikans and his descendants. As is well known, Laeden received a large influx of immigrants from Martenyika, especially during this country's civil war, where thousands of refugees came to Laeden in search of peace and a new life. Many carried signs that read “We are brothers” and questioned the way Laeden chose to treat a friendly nation and political and economic partner.

“Martenyikan culture is now fully integrated into Laedenian culture” a young woman of martenyikan descent commented. “We are one people, united by love and friendship. This conflict only shames us. Please, we want peace!”

In parallel, several civil society entities, such as the Student Union, the National Association of Journalists, the Laeden Bar Association and more than a dozen unions issued notes condemning the mobilization of military forces and demanding the resolution of the crisis through diplomatic channels. and policies. Laedenian society showed itself vigorously against the conflict, as expected by many political analysts, who had already foreseen this type of reaction, motivated in part by a disbelief in the military means as a way of resolving international conflicts, and in part by a feeling of friendship and affinity that Laedenians feel for Martenyika.

Despite all these moves, the government remained impassive, refusing to reverse its decision and opting not to comment on the protests and the criticism it suffered. Informally, some government officials said that this is a time of ''tranquility'' and ''serene resolution'' on the part of the Laeden government and that, while the authorities respect the people's right to protest and free expression, the possibility of violating the national territory requires energetic measures that cannot be decided in the heat of popular emotion.

CULTURE: New Research Center is officially opened
The Consul Gaspard d’Albignac attended the inauguration of the great scientific complex that aims to transform Laeden into a world power in the areas of science and technology.

Image

The Integrated Research and Development Center, one of d’Albignac’s most ambitious projects, represents the culmination of the Consul’s project to make Laeden a state-of-the-art technology producer, as well as to create space for an engaged and avant-garde scientific community. Located in Lattes County, about 50 km east of Illion, the huge scientific complex brings together state-of-the-art facilities and high-tech equipment, which will allow researchers to carry out complex studies in the most diverse areas of human knowledge. Having been built with an investment of $1.44 billion, in addition to other contributions made by the private sector and international partnerships, the research park is by far the most expensive infrastructure project ever undertaken during the government of the Consul d’Albignac.

Among the facilities of the Research Center, there is not only a vast library of physical books and virtual media, but also a large repository of genetic material, with several samples of human DNA, but also of countless species of plants and animals. The archive also contains genetic material from extinct species, including dinosaurs, as well as bacteria and viruses from numerous diseases, some of which are highly dangerous and transmissible. This Genetic Archive is built following the strictest biosecurity standards, allowing researchers to analyze and study genetic material without jeopardizing their safety or that of others.

Another interesting feature of the Research Center is a particle accelerator, a large and expensive machine that will allow Laedenian physicists to study subatomic particles, their compositions and characteristics with greater precision. The community of physicists in Laeden is very excited to operate this powerful machine, which is only present in a very limited number of nations and which will allow Laedenians to carry out research and produce unprecedented knowledge in the field of quantum and particle physics.

The Research Center also includes a network of telescopes led by the Belvoir Super Telescope, the first of its kind to be built in Laeden. In addition to being very modern and very important equipment for carrying out space and astronomical research, the new telescopes will help the Laedenian space project, allowing the country to collect new information that will be useful so that, in the future, it will be able to launch satellites and probes, and to manned missions, to space autonomously and independently.

The Research Center will also have an advanced research center in the field of robotics. This center received large investments from private sector companies, and will receive R&D teams from these companies to carry out joint research on automated machinery capable of streamlining production processes. The Center will focus on the commercial and medical applications of robotics. Not least, the universities of Laeden have already sought a partnership with this advanced center in order to offer the first Ph.D course in robotic engineering in the country, which will represent a huge leap in the training of highly qualified human resources to work in this promising area.

Finally, the Research Center will be home to the first Laedenian supercomputer. Sirius, as it is called, will increase the national computing capacity tenfold and will serve as an important means of scientific and business cooperation in data science and, especially, in the area of artificial intelligence. Operating exclusively on renewable energy sources, and equipped with a power of 24,000 Tflop/s, Sirius will also have applications in areas such as chemistry, medicine, quantum physics, mechanics, molecular modeling, meteorology and others. simulations that require high computing power that is beyond ordinary computers.

Other advanced facilities and centers will focus on other lines of research, in areas such as medicine, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and many others. The Center will have a permanent staff of around 100 senior researchers, in addition to its assistants, visiting researchers and international partners. It is estimated that Laeden's scientific output will more than double once the Center is fully operational, which will attract more high-tech companies to the country, helping Laeden's economic development and industrialization. Not least, the center will feature a number of programs and projects designed to bring civil society and the community closer to this sophisticated scientific infrastructure, allowing ordinary people to get to know the center and understand more about the exciting research being carried out there.

ECONOMY: New trading deal bolsters Laeden's economic output
A recent trade deal with Hyukai represents an oportunity for Laeden to expand its international trade partnerships

Laeden Foreign Trade Secretary Albert Sinclair visited the nation of Hyukai to close a major economic deal, which will allow Laeden to export its agricultural products in an advantageous position to Hyukai ] and, in return, you can have access to your electronics, your vehicles and your aviation items at more affordable prices. The partnership is beneficial for both nations, as it allows the exchange of goods that are scarce, in this case, food for Hyukai and electronic and industrialized products for Laeden.

The agreement was only possible thanks to the tireless pursuit of Laeden diplomacy to obtain new international partners and its constant search for bilateral economic treaties that allow Laeden to sell its vast agricultural production. Favorable climatic conditions, fertile soil and the strength of the country's agricultural industry allowed Laeden to produce food in unprecedented abundance, making it an important agro-exporter on the global stage. The government's constant investments in infrastructure and agreements with other nations such as Dormil and Stiura and its large merchant fleet meant that Laedenian agricultural products could reach any country in the world at highly competitive prices, consolidating the Laeden's position as the world's breadbasket against its competitors.

Despite its eminently agricultural tradition, Laeden's industries and companies also solidify and prosper with international partnerships and foreign markets. This is the case of Avène, one of the largest companies in Laeden, which operates in the cosmetics and make-up sector. Having established itself in Veleste almost twenty years ago, the brand is successful among the female audience, showing that the Laedenian economy was able, little by little, to industrialize and participate in international trade in a competitive and efficient.

The good economic news is more than necessary as the conflict with Martenyika escalates. Although mining the island is a very attractive prospect, and one that would cause an unprecedented boom in the national economy, the intensification of the dispute has put Laeden in a delicate international position. The possibility that trade routes are no longer safe has led exporters to demand additional escorts, increasing the price of exports and opening doors for international competitors to occupy markets previously dominated by Laedenian exports. While public authorities seem totally focused on the Sunset Isle crisis, Laeden's economic sector is preparing for the possible negative repercussions of the conflict, which generates considerable insecurity in the country's stock and investment market.

CULTURE: Christian Gaffré publishes his new book
The autograph session of "The Voice of Angels", the newest book by award-winning author Gaffré, was attended by celebrities and other distinguished guests.

After two long years without producing any literary work, Christian Gaffré presents Laedenian readers with a new novel, where he explores the superficiality of human relationships in the 21st century, guided by speed, ease and objectification in a society where time and attention are the scarcest goods. Gaffré masterfully adds elements of Christian mythology to the plot, bringing the supposed “Voice of Angels”, a primordial language created by Adam and God when they wandered through the Gardens of Eden, naming the plants and creatures they encountered.

The rescue of this idiom, which Gaffré deftly describes as “the voice of the essence, where words blend with the object, where the line between form and content becomes tenuous, where each word is clear, complete and leaves no room for ambiguity” . The language of Gaffré's angels is limpid and clear, a vocalized version of pure thought, as beautiful as the wild, untouched beauty of the world before nature was suppressed by human ingenuity and man's relentless quest to satisfy his needs at the world's expense. around you.

The Voice of Angels is a novel as moving as it is contemplative, which represents an interesting stage in Gaffré's literary production, where his books seek to fill an existential void that the author struggled with for years, due to his depression and alcoholism. The result of deep reflections and an originality that is rarely seen in the contemporary literary world, The Voice of Angels is a contender for the Best Book of the Year category in Laeden, and an essential reading for anyone who follows Gaffré and his trajectory in the world of letters.

The Hang Awarded A Brave Firefighter for His Heroic Rescue

Image
Tavani Surast'a (right) talking with his crewmates over the recent incident

KOTAPURA – A fire broke in an apartment block in Kotapura, the little and secluded capital of Rammanar in the northern part of the country. It was known by 2 a.m that the fire had spread from the third floor, to engulf almost the entirety of the block. The fire caught little attention since it was located on the outskirts of the town and, apparently at the time, there was only one tenant, an old lady later identified as Krusita Dabali.

Tavani Surast’a, a local firefighter, was just coming home from his shift when he saw the fire. Immediately, he called his crewmates to put out the fire. That’s when he heard the scream, and knowing the distance of the nearest fire station, he raced in to the blocks to save the owner of the scream.

Wearing no equipment whatsoever, he managed to rescue the lady safely, although he himself suffered third-degree burns. His crewmates brought him to the hospital when they arrived and put down the fire completely by the next hour.

The story went viral immediately on TWItter and TwikTwok, courtesy of his crewmates who uploaded it to the popular social media platforms. The post has received hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets, and apparently has caught the attention of the Hang himself.

Applauding Surast’a’s bravery, he travelled to Kotapura on an impromptu trip to award him the Three Sun Medal, the highest civilian award on Kilat. Along that, he promised that his medication would be at no cost, due to the universal healthcare available to everyone in Kilat.

Suratsha thanked the Hang in a private meeting in his hospital room, saying that he is grateful that the Hang and the country cared deeply for civilians like him. Afterwards, the Hang refused to hold a press conference, insisting that this is a ‘private matter’, and that the act of bravery needs no virality to be acknowledged.

It is reported that the old lady, Krusita Dabali, had been resettled to a new and modern apartment block downtown Kotapura, at the Hang’s own requests.

Lesvan Government Delegation visits neighboring Ainslie

A Government Delegation led by First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Pacton Inca, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Frei Jauca and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Terr Curso visits neighboring Ainslie

A Government Delegation headed by First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Pacton Inca, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Frei Jauca and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Terr Curso is visiting neighboring Ainslie. The Lesvan Government Delegation is there, after a 4-day prior visit to Balnik, to meet with Ainslie's Prime Minister Elliana Gifford and with all top officials of the government of Ainslie and the heads and members of different branches of the government of Ainslie. The plan is to hold talks on bilateral relations between Lesva and Ainslie on all levels. The two countries, despite sharing a history, are not tied politically too each other too much in the modern day, so it is not being ruled out that the dialogue might include developing those relations in certain areas. It is not ruled out that these days Lesva and Ainslie are not always standing on the same side in certain questions, issues, morals or ideologically, but at the same time both countries have managed to keep, if not the same special relationship as before and remaining too close, at least Lesva and Ainslie have managed to remain constructive towards each other. First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Pacton Inca has praised the constructiveness from the side of Ainslie towards Lesva and promised the same sort of constructiveness to continue from the side of Lesva towards Ainslie. The Leader stated that even Lesva will forever remain committed to a strategic alliance with Aprosia and Balnik within the Eastern Tripartite and prioritize special fraternal relations with Aprosia and Balnik first and foremost, but First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Pacton Inca has also suggested that a historic special relationship between Lesva and Ainslie can continue into the future and take on new forms today as well. Regarding what to expect, First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Pacton Inca stated that Lesva does not have special questions or things it would like to protest regarding Ainslie's policies in relations with Lesva, but the Leader said that Lesva will even be ready to hear out if Ainslie has anything to "get off its' chest" regarding relations with Lesva and how the Throngist Republic is doing things today. First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Pacton Inca did recall brief recent cooperation between Lesva and Ainslie most recently, when both countries were hit by floods, which ended up being a cross-border natural disaster, where both countries had and used opportunities to help each other out and keep contact with each other to overcome the mutual struggle. The Leader suggested that maybe Lesva and Ainslie will not always need a natural disaster to hit both countries, in order for cooperation to take place. The Lesvan side recognizes a lot of potential for bilateral relations.

Uprea and Hyukai strike Trade Agreement

12th of February 2022,
Vasca, Federal Republic of Uprea

Talks of a Trade Agreement between Uprea and Hyukai have been in the room since the beginning of February. Now an official statement by the Government has concluded that a Trade Agreement between the two nations has indeed been struck.
Hyukai has been in the news lately, especially since the UNCRU was deployed back in January to help out amidst the chaos caused by Hurricane Roberts. Talks between the two nations have obviously never ceased since then and a beneficial economic agreement will likely only increase the communication between Uprea and Hyukai.
Uprea, being already solely reliant on renewable energy, will help Hyukai generate more green power by trading renewable energy technology, while Hyukai will be trading manufactured vehicles (most of which will be hyukaian aircrafts) and agricultural products.
For the purposes of closing this agreement, the Minister of Economy Alexandre Roque and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabriel de Rosario, have travelled to Hyukai's capital Cappareus this morning.

Lesvan dissidents in Ainslie protest the visit by Throngist regime's officials to Ainslie

Flags used by Lesvan dissidents in Ainslie, alongside the national flags of Ainslie (their current homeland), during protests.

The Lesvan dissidents in Ainslie, the largest Lesvan diaspora abroad which also continues to grow, has taken to the streets of Ainslie's cities and towns to protest the visit by the officials of the Throngist dictatorship in Lesva to Ainslie. Lesvan dissidents, in general, are protesting dictatorship officials stepping on Ainslie's ground and subsequently projecting their autocratic nature beyond the borders of Lesvan land, which they are currently terrorizing. The protests are decentralized, not organized by any specific leaders, groups or organizations and not carrying any political demands, which makes them largely symbolic. At the same time, the Lesvan-Ahnslens do have slogans calling for an end to the Throngist dictatorship rule in Lesva and also asking Prime Minister Elliana Gifford and her government not to cooperate with the Throngist regime. Lesvan dissidents are positioning Ainslie as the beacon of freedom in the world and regard it as the second home to the Lesvan nation, therefore, the dissidents are trying to influence the government of Ainslie to take an anti-regime foreign policy position. At the same time, the dissident protests carry an exclusively peaceful nature, as the decentralized demonstration does not want to provoke the authorities in different parts of Ainslie towards a cautious, yet forceful response to try and control the situation on the streets. It is believed that the anti-dictatorship protests by the Lesvan-Ahnslens will continue throughout the duration of the visit by the officials of the Throngist dictatorship to Ainslie. So far, the decentralized protests are positioning themselves as not being linked to either of the Lesvan governments-in-exile like the Lesvan Presidential Republic government in exile or the Council of the President of the Republic of Lesva in exile.

CITIZEN’S ACCORD SIDES WITH SUNSET ISLE NATIVES AS ROENDAVAR DIVIDED ON ISSUE
International News
13th of February, 2022 (4er vi Calthranar, 2820 AE)

DOCIARA, ROENDAVAR- Protests continue at the steps of the Hall of the People as the Environment Representation successfully passes a Citizen’s Accord to support the natives of the Sunset Isle, known as the Akari, and to call upon Roendavar and the international community to condemn “all sides” and intervene in heightening tensions surrounding the embattled island.

Tensions between Laeden and Martentyika have risen over the past few days in the dispute of the Sunset Isle, escalating into outright conflict between the two nations. While it is yet to become an issue of regional concern, many are now expressing concern in the international community. Roendavarians, overall have expressed great interest in the situation and took their concerns to social media throughout the past days, with #FreeSunset trending in Roendavar. On February 12, many in Roendavar rallied with the Ahnslen International Parks and Nature Organisation’s stance, tweeting #IPNO and hashtags relating to the situation trending once more on TWItter.

With public sentiment growing, the Hall of the People met on February 13, 2022, and the Environment Representation, headed by Lacantherion Theiusmir Valaenthis, submitted a proposal for a Citizen’s Accord regarding the Sunset Isle. Lacantherion Theiusmir Valaenthis is best known as one of the leaders of the Emerald Group, an eco-fascist movement and coalition that has significant voice in Roendavarian politics. The Emerald Group also has vast connections in other countries, with some conflicting reports that say that they are but a small peaceful non-governmental organization to a far-reaching conspiracy with international and vast organized groups.

“It is clear that Laedenian and Martenyikan conflict surrounding the Sunset Isle is but a farce between two self-serving and corrupt states. Sunset Isle, for decades, has paved its own path and managed on its own without the help of both nations. Yet, now, it is clear that once imperialists have but a whiff of a little economic value that they have not seen before, they will come flocking like vultures. Make no mistake, everyone, there is no benevolent power here. Both nations serve their own greedy interests and wish nothing but their own personal gain at the expense of a proud people. There are also those, who remain in the shadows, that wait for their own stake, that they have more to gain even though they are leagues away and have no connection with such conflict.

We ask the international community, along with the government of Roendavar, to condemn both nations and to immediately intervene in the conflict. The independence and self-interest of the Akari must come first and paramount over others. If the governments of the Western Isles do not resolve this in the soonest possible time, then the people of this region have no choice but to take matters into their own hands. We employ all to rise up against imperialism once more, through any means necessary.”

Aerion Thaianus Micheno, current leader of the Valenthasaai Tharmalivesti and running for a position as Thronai of Vastaros in the special elections in April, also agreed with the call by Lacantherion, quote, “it is clear that actions in the Sunset Isle are fueled by capitalist and imperialist means in mind and the interests of the Akari would be crushed under the iron boot of hostile forces.” He added that “nations of the Western Isles should condemn both nations and if they refuse to cooperate, their governments must face the consequences brought by the wrath of the people”.

Those who dissented, including the Youth Representative Andhalien Thalciris Vethalionae, called out the aggressive implications of the Citizen’s Accord, damaging relations between Roendavar and Laeden and/or Martenyika, and threats from a known outspoken and acting organization with heavy ties in Roendavar. Andhalien commented that “the inflamed tone that the Hall of the People will be adopting is nothing but detrimental to Roendavarian neutrality and pacifism in a conflict that is far from our shores and serves nothing in the interest of the Akari themselves”. Veterans Representative Alaminthros Thaiusel Calcarinthis criticized the call as ‘a brazen threat against sovereign nations’ and ‘another way to drag Roendavar down in the affairs of foreigners’ An independent citizen, Cariniela Vildhrenis Thasmerilas likened the situation as ‘another Sawneeak-like foreign relations blunder waiting to happen’. Out of 1,293 reported attendees, 818 expressed affirmation of the First Citizen’s Accord on the Sunset Isle. It was reported that both celebrations and fights broke out outside the Hall of the People after the announcement, resulting in 8 injuries and 16 arrests.

While the High Council is yet to issue an Absolute Contract or reject the Citizen’s Accord in response, many within the government of Roendavar have echoed the same sentiments as that was passed by the Hall of the People. The Elenthir of Foreign Affairs, Avalina Ereliasin Thavarcaliei, stated in a tweet that “threats of inter-state conflict between nations must be resolved with utmost haste and in the welfare of all considered”. The most outspoken of which came from the Elenthir of the Environment, Cailaria Elerindhis Thamariles, who described the current tensions in the Sunset Isle as “another attempt by neo-imperalists who wish to supersede the rights of self-determination from natives and deprive them of their independence”. Both the HEI and the RRG have yet to comment on the matter as well. None of the Crinexinosi have expressed a stance as well, although the Arveimeion of Tillaran, the Daughter of Loras and Deity of Medicine and Flora, Tharanith Decherion Thaiasir, hinted that many within the Protacist community express support siding with the natives. Dissenting opinions from the government of Roendavar came from the Thronai. Thronai of Vastaros Victor Azaneragrin Vatilezi was the most outspoken, saying that “ while I agree with the sentiment of the Citizen’s Accord, the Hall of the People is focusing on the wrong matters that threaten the nation of Roendavar in itself and which better energy can be spent”. Thronai of Sudever Sorin Soarelathria Dartulesa called the Citizen’s Accord ‘noble’ but ‘hijacked by aggressive elements that could be seen by other nations as detrimental to Roendavar’.

Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias issued a statement hours after the passage of the Citizen’s Accord through the Crown’s official channels and social media, quote, “Roendavar understands the position of its citizenry regarding the Sunset Isle. Throughout centuries, the welfare of natives and the environment has always been at the forefront of our pursuit of a better society, and it is no different today. However, we must sound caution in our words and actions, as noble as it is to stand for what must be right, let us remember that we must not demand nor threaten for it. Our values and dreams might be what we hold on to, but let us not employ darker means in this noble fight. We trust that the High Council, the Hall of the People, and the citizens of Roendavar will choose the appropriate path. We also trust the governments of Laeden, Martenyika, third parties, and the citizens of all nations choose the path of peace and the welfare of all.”

In an online poll released by HMN at 6 PM on the 13th of February, 51% of respondents agreed that the welfare of the natives should be put first. 9% of respondents supported Laeden and 7% of respondents supported Martenyika. The remaining respondents or around 33% said that Roendavar must keep its neutrality over the issue. A separate poll on the First Citizen’s Accord on the Sunset Isle at the same time was also posted. Around 42% were supportive of the Citizen’s Accord while 40% expressed dissent. The rest were undecided or had no opinion over the matter.

Crisis under Sunset

Sunday, 13 Febuary 2022

Press Service Gael
Volyènne - Tensions have spiked in the South Mesder over the turn of the month as Laeden and Martenyika find themselves on a sudden collision course over the Sunset Isles, off the Laedenian coast in the South Mesder Sea. In just the previous days, warships from both sides have tussled in the surrounding waters as both sides aim to establish a naval cordon, all the while a mostly uncontacted people native to the islands are caught in the crossfire of the crisis. Officials from both sides claim that the other has violated their sovereign territory and non-government officials in both Ainsile and Roendavar have expressed concerns on the issue. Ambassador to Laeden Modeste Hampton has also spoken out on the issue, calling it a "gross over-escalation of a constabulary issue", a comment which his mission has since recinded.

President Cedar Dyson and Chief Tribune Garret Davidson spoke on the matter on Friday, equally expressing their concerns about escalation and the need for a unified, multilateral response for peace, urging the Organization for Regional Cooperation in Argus to intervene and negotiate a peaceful settlement for both sides. The calls from the Doraltic leaders were shared among other members of the Dyson Government, including foreign minister Kevyn Shepherd, trade minister Hervé Dorsey, and the director for the Argus Office of Missions Sylvia Cotterill.

Some commentators noted that Doraltic involvement has the chance to bring an end to the escalation of the conflict, while others forecast that it will only attract Dormill and Stiura's rivals and isolate its Gaeltic allies further after the events in Roendavar.
