First Minister to develop public transport

First Minister Alexandria Verre has announced in the weekly "First Minister News", a news interview between Loxodonian State Broadcasting and the First Minister, a plan to develop public transport inside Loxodon. The details on these developments were announced by the FM mid-way into the interview. These promise extensive funding into the trains and busses of Loxodon, and a revitalisation of the nation's taxi service. New train services from île de capitale to the smaller surrounding islands, with 6 new train routes through or to Normandy and Dormant. Smaller islands like Île Coco will have 1-2 train services, with even smaller islands being promised small ports.

Along with this, Cardiff is getting an enlarged port, and finally getting an airport able to hold large planes. This plan was introduced to strengthen the tourism industry, which has been stagnant for a few weeks now. Historically, Newport was the capital, mainly for it's more mountainous location and ties to the older dynasties, but ever since the birth of global trade, Cardiff was allocated the capital for it's connections to the outside world.

Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL) elected ruling party of Lesva in the general election

Ballots are closed, votes counted and TMPL becomes an official ruling party, going from the provisional ruling party

Image

The general election in the Republic of Lesva is over, the polls have been closed and votes counted. The provisional ruling party – Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL), has been elected the ruling party of Lesva with a clear majority of 61%. This means that TMPL will not be required to form a coalition with any other party or several of them. All election competitors have been put into the opposition, but not everybody will have seats in the Carto (Lesvan legislature). Only parties that have passed the so-called “5% barrier” will hold seats in the Carto as opposition parties, while others will remain opposition outside the government. Therefore, the opposition is separated into “systemic” and “non-systemic.” Parliament-controlling TMPL will not be responsible for appointing the administration of the presidency and the government.

Bus industry driving up the wall

Recent investments into Loxodon's famous bus industry have paid off. Véhicules Lourds Loxodon (VLL), the state's bus company, have reported a 300% increase in profits from bus exports. The state's bus service, Bus de Loxodon (BL), has reported a huge increase in bus journeys to/from Cardiff and Newport, and with the new train routes in Dormant and Normandy have greatly cut the journey times in the 2 islands by 40%. A downside is the car manufacturing, Voitures Rouges, has reported a 70% decrease in cars on the roads, many of which show as a sign that the government's public transport scheme is working.

Wanting to fly? Don't!

Loxodon's planes is in dire need of development. Conseil Auditors have reported that Loxodon's air industry is one of the worst developed in the region, with over 70% of flights being old outdated models of planes, and over 20% being in small propeller planes. An interview with the Minister of Transport Rick Horth sheds light onto the plain plane underdevelopment.

Correspondent: "So, my minister, are there any reasons to this lack of development in the air industry?"

Rick Horth: "Yes. Our funding has been stretched from the beginning of la république, and to be completely honest, our air infrastructure has never been of much concern. Loxodon's naval tradition continues, even into the modern era.

Correspondent: "Recent pushes from Newport citizens have put this problem into the spotlight, any comments on them?"

Rick Horth: "The Newport citizens have a right to be worried, with their lack of major naval port, but worry not, our First minister announced plans to solve the international transport problems in Newport."

Correspondent: "That'll be all, thank you minister"

Altera hosts major international trade summit

Image

Joining a trans-isles trade deal is an "exciting opportunity" for the Alteran Republics to build on its "entrepreneurial spirit and free-trading history", Strategos Keith Ryansan has said.

Alexander Ross, Alteran Praetor for International Trade and Investment, has entered three days of negotiations to discuss increased reduction of tariffs, improved trade deals and the possible formation on a Free-Trade bloc.

The Strategos said the possible free trade agreement, which exists between several member states of the Regional Trade and Economic Agreement, would create "unparalleled opportunities for the Alteran Republics".

Altera will hold talks, hosted in Aramore, to discuss the formation of the Pan-Isles Free Trade Agreement (P.I.F.T.A.), strengthening trade links with the member nations in the group.

Several nations are expected to join Altera in the discussion of the formation of stronger trade ties, including long-standing trade partners Dormill and Stiura, Segentova, Wellsia, Athara Magarat, Serpens Land and Ainslie.

In addition to long-standing partners, Altera aims to increase trade cooperation in several new growing economies: Loxodon, New Jacobland, Solaryia and Arpasia.

Investment, aid and rebuilding of the Wake Islands - including Atolla, a Commonwealth nation - following their devastating floods earlier this year, was also high on the agenda.

Many of the nations are taking the opportunity to continue to open up trade with Aprosia, which has increasingly seen foreign investment in the nation.

As well as in-depth trade discussions, Altera would aim to use the talks as an opportunity to discuss wider issues in the region.

Alexander Ross, as well as other politicians from Altera, are like to join their counterparts from Dormill and Stiura (Trade Minister Hervé Dorsey, Under Secretary for Trans-Argus Trade Johann Baptist Ayton and Regional Trade Representative Kerr Hoch) to discuss the situation in Arvan; which continues to be a political hot-potato for the two nations.

Altera is equally set to welcome representatives from Wellsia (Sir Gathorn Manners and Thane Northgate, Secretary of Trade) Serpens Lands (Minister of Finance Alice Greenhill and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jamie Smith) and Ainslie (Ambassador-General Callum Parkes); all of whom are well-known and respected amongst Altera's political circles.

The government is equally set to welcome representatives from nations who have, for distinct reasons, have not been so keenly sought-after before - though their presence would be crucial in the formation of any future trade agreements, such as Minister for Trade Harry Goodman of Loxodon, Vice President Arkane Zinaren of Keverai and - controversially - Chief Minister Jacob Lenana of the Wake Island of Sud.

The AR government has said a deal with the group would open new markets for Altera’s service industries, while lowering tariffs on exports of goods such as cars, aerospace, and whisky.

But the government said the formation of PIFTA, as well as creating more mutually beneficial trade agreements, would allow the Alteran Republics to continue access to some of the region's biggest economies.

They added that joining the alliance would lower tariffs on Alteran goods - with tariff-free trade for 99.9% of exports - and help Alteran farmers sell beef and lamb into fellow RTEA and PIFTA countries.

If successful, Alteran trade would be set to increase by 65% by 2030, according to government estimates; although it is hoped that the reality would far exceed this estimate.

The world has change significantly in the past twelve months. There are an increasing wealth of potential across the Isles,” the trade minister, Alexander Ross, said. “It is a terrific opportunity for not just Altera, but everyone sitting here at this summit; and many more yet to come.

Under the overarching RTEA organisation, the vast majority of barriers to trade including tariffs and quotas are removed. However, the potential for PIFTA allows for even greater access to tariff-free markets.

However, unlike the League, the trade alliance does not have wider political goals such as integration or the creation of a single market or customs union.

Following the summit, the Praetor is set to tour the region to follow up on agreements and discussions made here; including a trip to Atolla and Aprosia to see how Alteran aid and investments are achieving economic and social reform with their nations

WIDA Conducts Air and Naval Sinking Exercises

Western Test Range, Domanania and Northwest Training Range, Ioudaia – Air and naval forces from the four WIDA nations, Biaten, Domanania, Ioudaia, and Martenyika, practiced sinking warships off the western coasts of Domanania and Ioudaia. These exercises provided training to the attacking crews and verified the performance of both the attacking weapons' effectiveness and the targets' defenses. Domanania donated four obsolete Vengeance-class frigates to be sunk with air and surface launched missiles as well as submarine launched torpedoes. In addition, Ioudaia provided a decommissioned big-gun cruiser to use as a target ship. All target ships were sunk.

Initially, air forces from the WIDA nations took turns attacking the cruiser as it drifted in the test range. It remained afloat for many hits, reflecting the ship's excellent armor and compartmentalization below the waterline. Martenyikan pilot Captain Maxime Dipanda described his squadron's performance as excellent, commenting, "Regardless of the results, we come away knowing more and having more to work with in the future."

Next, ships from the Ioudaian and Doman navies conducted live fire tests of modern anti-ship missiles against the target ship. The results were described as "spectacular", leaving the cruiser sinking.

Image
The first two rounds of exercises were then repeated, this time with a remotely-controlled frigate as a target, and the difficulty was increased by the target using remotely-controlled active defenses: chaff and decoys. While the end results were the same, achieving hits was harder, and the crews appreciated the opportunity to train under realistic conditions. "There's no shame in saying I flat-out missed with my first missile," said Ioudaian Navy pilot Aldwin Gilad. "Modern opponents will use modern defenses, so we're better for practicing against them. I still would have rather hit, though."

Finally, the Doman, Ioudaian, and Martenyikan navies each conducted a pair of submarine torpedo attacks against a remotely controlled frigate, first simulated and then actual, while another nation's navy operated anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft to try to detect the attacking submarine. In all cases, the submarines achieved kills, sinking the frigates with single torpedoes.

To minimize environmental damage, the frigates used for the exercises contained only enough fuel for an hour's cruising, and remotely-detonated explosive charges were used to rupture the sinking ships' fuel tanks and set their fuel ablaze. As a result, no oil slicks remained after the exercises.

Parliament led by the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL) elects new President, new Prime Minister and appoints new Speaker of the Carto

TLPM-led parliament replaces interim president, interim prime minister and interim speaker with newly elected officials from the same general election-winning ruling Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL)

The elected Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL) as a ruling party in the country with a majority in the Carto (legislature), has elected a new president, appointed a new prime minister (head of government) and appointed a new speaker. All of them are members of TMPL. The Carto under a new speaker will also appoint a new cabinet of ministers, but these would be formally approved by the new president and would work under a new prime minister. These elections and appointments have been done and are being done under constitutional amendments, which have given the Carto, as unicameral legislature, even more powers than it had before. The new president is Pacton Inca, the new prime minister is Deren Pova and the new speaker is Ari Iotuke. They are replacing interim president Giva Tesin, interim prime minister Frei Jauca and interim speaker Visem Calbesu, who are also all TMPL members and held these posts during the transitional period of TMPL’s rule prior to the general election, in which TMPL has now been legally and officially elected as a ruling party in the Republic of Lesva.

Throngist leadership alters the national flag of Lesva

A new flag is flying over Lesva, as the ruling Throngist ideological leadership replaces the previous republic’s flag with a new design

Image

The ruling party of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL) has approved a new national flag of the Republic of Lesva. The old yellow stars in a purple triangle in a black background have been replaced with black stars in a platinum grey/blue grey triangle in a black background. The new flag has been raised over the presidential headquarters, the parliament and the constitutional court, soon to replace the old flag in all government buildings and everywhere else in the country as the official national symbol. The ruling Throngists state that the new flag symbolizes a new era in a new republic, while the old era and the new republic are put in the past. During the events of the Saela Spring and the follow-up political transition, the flags used were the old republic’s flag with yellow stars in a purple triangle in a black background and sometimes a variant of that flag, but with a dark red triangle, more representative one of the thematic colors of the Lesva-exclusive Throngist ideology. Today, the parliamentary session in the Carto (legislature) was opened by the new Speaker of the Carto Ari Iotuke under a new flag. The ruling Throngist leadership also plans to change the national anthem and other symbols to complete Lesva’s aesthetic transformation.

Lesva expresses interest in buying weapons from Arpasia

Lesva is looking to expand the list of its’ arms suppliers, before eventually joining the competitive market as a manufacturer itself, this time looking to Arpasia

Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Armed Forces and one of the candidates for the position of Defense Minister General Pava Sari has said that Lesva is looking to buy weapons from Arpasia and list the country. Right now, the list of Lesva’s arms suppliers has Segentova in it, as the main supplier of warplanes and everything needed for the Lesvan Air Force. General Pava Sari says that Arpasia could take that place as the man supplier of anything that the Lesvan Army needs, although Lesva intends to see what Arpasia has to offer for any section of the military. In the end, the Corner of Liberty has an ambition to enter the international arms market itself as a manufacturer and provider of armaments for its’ own military and other countries, however, that goal is currently a bit in the future, according to the Chief of the General Staff.

Arnton, WL - Partly Cloudy. Max: 22C Min: 12C

DOMESTIC: Protacist Organisations on notice following strong condemnation from Defence Minister

ARNTON (AN) - In a press conference held on short notice today in Arnton, Defence Minister Parik Carven lashed out at the Loyal Brotherhood and the Disciples of the End, two organisations increasingly under scrutiny by the Federal Government after revelations of their role in the ensuring disgraced former Indenats leader Lawrence Jackson’s safe passage to Balnik. Sources close to the Government have suggested that Carven’s outburst today was as a result of receiving new information pertaining to the organisations. The Defence Minister today, despite the tumultuous question time after the conference, had one simple message to Ahnslens today.

“Ahnslens. It is time to wake up. These extremist protacist groups have been sleeping - they have been flying under the radar and now they have awakened. We, too, must wake up to the threat that they pose not only to ourselves but to our fellow Ahnslens and to the peace and security of this nation. This new threat comes from within - it could be people we see in the local cafe, or out on the neighbouring farms.

There is no room for complacency. No more room for ignorance. It is time to wake up.”

Following the Defence Minister’s impassioned speech, his key policy announcement today was the allocation of his Deputy Director of Policy to focus solely on this issue. Dean Callister, whose specialties revolve around counter-terrorism and ideological extremism, will fill this role indefinitely as the nation renews its focus at the two cults operating in tandem in Ainslie’s west. The Minister also announced that tomorrow morning, Callister will fly to Mandara to speak to local authorities and assist the Governor in designing programs to thwart emerging threats and prevent the organisations from recruiting further.

He also announced that new funding will be available under the Safer Communities Initiative to allow for the creation and continuance of deradicalisation programs and community dialogue sessions aimed to reduce the amount of extremism and polarisation in the community. He also hinted at the possibility that the Ministry for Defence, Security and National Resilience will take a more active role in engaging with protacist communities across the central-west. Neither Governor Garver of Arlanah or Governor Mansell of Dallara have responded to the announcements from that conference.

The Minister’s speech was clouded by a number of generalisations and harsh words for the organisation and indirectly towards protacism as a belief system. As he went off script this afternoon when answering questions, he inferred that it could be the fault of protacist groups not to rein in their young and keep them away from the more radical and extremist parts of their belief system. Further, in an unprecedented exchange with a reporter, he suggested that at least some portions of protacism as a belief system may be incoherent with the fundamental values of the Ahnslen people.

Shortly after the press conference from the Defence Minister, which concluded at 3:30pm, the Prime Minister’s office held their usual daily briefing. The briefing, which usually comprises of relatively mundane announcements, was overshadowed by the scandalous comments of Carven at the conference just hours before.

Kari Tarlow, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister, offered brief scripted remarks in which she described the comments of the Minister as “regrettable” in how they were “open to an interpretation adverse to what we believe in as Ahnslens and what this Government wants to tell the people of this nation”. However, she was similarly strong in her language towards the Loyal Brotherhood and to the Disciples of the End, describing them as a “new and worrying threat” that Ainslie is “going to extinguish with great force”.

After the speech, she opened the floor to questions - many of which were surrounding the Defence Minister’s comments. The following are some of the questions reporters asked of Ms. Tarlow and her responses to them.

Q: Are we to infer that the Defence Minister’s comments and sentiment is shared by the Prime Minister and this administration?
Tarlow: We are committed to combating new threats as they emerge swiftly and with vigour. Whilst we agree on policy and the approach, we cannot condone or say that the comments made this afternoon by the Defence Minister, particularly about Protacism as a belief system and those who practice it or the implications he may have made represent that of the Prime Minister.

Q: Is the defence minister racist? Does he discriminate against Protacism?
Tarlow: We would rather not engage in cultural wars about racism or religious discrimination. We are far more interested in fighting against it through constructive and meaningful dialogue and through policy rather than feeding headlines. The Defence Minister had strong feelings and was clearly agitated today. I am sure he would take back the way he said some things but nevertheless he is free to express them.

Q: Roendavar is one of our closest allies. How can we prevent damage to the relationship if we have the Defence Minister declaring that people associated with Protacism may be the “number one threat to Ainslie’s security in the very near future”
Tarlow: We would remind the media to be responsible in the way they publicise the Minister’s comments. That entire conference was within the context of talking about the behaviour of some people who claim to be protacists - we are not clear as to the extent they practice or adhere to their beliefs nor are we the arbiters on that - and it is important to keep that in mind. Many protacists, particularly Roendavarian immigrants and temporary residents live peaceful and productive lives here in Ainslie and our country is better for having them here. It is the Office’s opinion that the Roendavarians know how we feel about their Government and their people. We are their friends and sure sometimes friends need to have tough discussions and sometimes make mistakes but we trust that they will not take the Defence Minister’s comments in the wrong context.

Q: Clearly having a Defence Minister who stands in front of reporters angry and losing his self-control is not the kind of image Ainslie wants to project. Will Parik Carven be disciplined or dismissed from his duties? Will he retain the defence portfolio?
Matters of discipline are issues for the Prime Minister and we will not comment on them until our processes and investigations are complete. Mr Carven has a wealth of experience and is an asset to this administration and has been a key part of the government since Andrew Kenzai first picked him upon his successful retaining of his seat. I wish not to comment on whether he will be dismissed from his duties but personally I see it is unlikely - after all, if any or all of us were sacked after one mistake this room would be empty.

The comments from the Defence Minister have already drawn criticism by protacist organisations, particularly the Arlanite Protacist Coalition which has been calling for a public apology from Mr. Carven and the Protacists in Dallara interest group which has been demanding that the Defence Minister apologise personally to the community and then join them in rituals marking the healing of a friendship.

Arendai contacted the Roendavarian Government asking for comment and they declined to comment. Further, they have not produced a statement or response to the Defence Minister’s press conference or to the Office of the Prime Minister’s commentary on them.

DOMESTIC: Prime Minister announces new ecocide inquiry

ARNTON (AN) - The federal government has quickly responded to a new resolution introduced into The League of The Western Isles. Resolution 23, which has been introduced by Roendavar, concerns ecocide and attempts to push nations into a state where they adopt stronger environmental protection laws. In addition to this, it shifts issues concerning the environment firmly into the realm of the criminal law. Prime Minister Gifford today, flanked by the Judicial-General and the Advocate-General confirmed that an inquiry would be established “with haste, to determine Ainslie’s options and capabilities to incorporate the resolution without causing great offence to existing Ahnslen law and the way environmental law is approached in Ainslie”.

Ecocide, for the purposes of the resolution, appears to be very broad. It covers acts causing unnecessary damage to an ecosystem or area of ecological importance, measures which disrupt natural processes, acts which would drastically alter the ecology of an area, an act that would go significantly against environmental processes amongst four further points - including the causing of an environmental catastrophe.

Arkan Arellie of the International Parks and Nature Organisation said the following about the resolution.

“It’s a bold step, one which we wholly endorse. However, it is clear that for this to mean anything it must have action. If the resolution sparks action, then it has done good. If it hasn’t, well, it’s one piece of fluff in a variety of warm and nice-sounding words about the environment.”

It is not clear why exactly, except for the resolution, that Gifford would launch such an inquiry however there is much debate already in academic and political circles as to the reasoning and logic behind such a move.

What is certain is that this resolution places the Government in a very awkward position - it has readily been promoting more and more international law in The Western Isles yet it is now presented with a resolution that is far bolder and broader than it is likely to tolerate. However, on issues of the environment the ruling party in Ainslie, ACEGAD, has always been proactive.

“Particularly troubling for Ainslie would be the system the resolution has implemented which sees cases potentially going both to the International Court of Justice or through domestic channels. In effect, it creates what is almost an appeals system for environmental crimes in Ainslie when it concerns such a broad amount of activities.”, Denden Gavan, a professor in International Law currently visiting the University of Norlands, said in an interview to Arendai soon after the inquiry announcement.

Trade unions in Ainslie have particularly been vocal about the new resolution, with representatives from the mining, forestry and fishing industry pleading the Government to openly disagree and take a leading role in defeating the resolution.

“It’s just too risky.”, Gavine Carenne of the Ahnslen Forestry Interest Group declared soon after hearing the news of the resolution and the ecocide inquiry being launched by Gifford.

Terms of reference are expected to be handed to the Judicial-General for the final authorisation by the end of the week. Currently, Guardian Elena Geveren of the Court of the Ancients is considered to be the frontrunner to oversee the inquiry although the chance that the Judicial Council will take it under its purview has not been ruled out yet.

Lesva plans to buy tanks from Belantica

In another announcement of armament purchases, Lesva names Belantica as a source of tanks

Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Armed Forces and candidate for Defense Ministers General Pava Sari has stated that Lesva is planning to buy tanks from Belantica for its’ land forces. Despite a small dispute that developed between the countries over Belantica not immediately replying to Lesvan request to hand over Lesvan ousted ex-President Puicu Gevin back to our country from exile in Belantica, the situation has since resolved itself and Gevin was returned, while the relations had survived the challenge and remained normal. Now, General Pava Sari is naming Belantica as potential armament suppliers for the Lesvan Army alongside Arpasia and Segentova as a supplier for the Lesvan Air Force. The General stretches that this is once again being done, before Lesva can finally create a basis to be self-sufficient in this area and even supply other countries in the future.

The Carto declares snap local elections

Following the recent general election, where a parliament was elected, which in turn elected the president, appointed a prime minister and a parliamentary speaker, Lesva is now preparing for snap local elections for local administrations around the country

Speaker of the Carto Ari Iotuke has announced that lawmakers at the Carto (legislature) have supported declaring snap local elections, following the recent general election, where the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL) has been elected ruling party. Under constitutional changes instituted following the Saela Spring, the general election replaced separate parliamentary and presidential elections that were declared initially. At the general election, TMPL was elected the ruling party and afterwards the new TMPL-led parliament elected a president, appointed a prime minister and a parliamentary speaker. Pacton Inca is now President, Deren Pova is Prime Minister and Ari Iotuke is the Speaker of the Carto. All are TMPL party members. Since the TMPL-led central government is already in place, the snap local elections would be held for Lesvans around the country to elect municipal governments, city councils and other local self-administration institutions. The precise date of the snap local elections would be announced shortly.

Fierce fighting in Ipachi State's Thar City

NEW TANSEN

Ipachi State government troops and Chathaese rebels are locked in fierce fighting across several districts of its third largest city Thar City, the Khas-Kirati Republic's government said on Thursday.

"Violent clashes are taking place in the several southwestern neighborhoods between the regular army and Chathaese rebels," a spokeswoman for the Khas-Kirati Republic's government said, reporting 'casualties' without further details.

"It is most likely that these Chathaese fighters entered Thar City from border towns or villages in San Montagnan Chatha."

After the Imperial War (1941 - 1948), southeastern Vendriothos was occupied by Razzgriz and San Montagna occupied the Chatha region while rest of the Free Powers occupied western Vendriothos. The San Montagnan occupation zone became part of the country whereas Razzgriz created the Ipachi State in their occupation zone.

In 1948, the League Mission in Argus (LEMIA) was established to monitor the transition of Khas-Kirat Empire to the Khas-Kirati Republic and supervise the demilitarization of Vendriothos. Within a year, the mission's objectives were expanded to prevent troops and weapons from entering the newly-declared Ipachi State that was hostile to both the Khas-Kirati Republic and San Montagna.

In 1950, the 30th Parallel War broke out between the Ipachi State and San Montagna due to border disputes. Both sides invaded southern parts of the demilitarized Khas-Kirati Republic. The League of the Western Isles approved the formation of the paramilitary Armed Police Force (APF) for national self-defense with training from LEMIA troops. The 30th Parallel War resulted in a military stalemate but the conflict never ended officially as there was no peace treaty and preventing conflict between all sides involved was added to the list of LEMIA's objectives.

In 1960s, various armed Chathaese groups (supported by San Montagna and TBD), started their ongoing war against the Ipachi State. Emboldened by the success of Chathaese rebels and angry at the Free Powers for not delivering the promise of an independent Khumbu nation, the ongoing Khumbuwani Insurgency started during 1970s in northeastern Vendriothos. By 1980s, the Khumbuwani Insurgency spread to southern Torom and Khumbu-majority areas of Segentova. LEMIA's objectives were further expanded to assist the APF in bringing security and stability to rebel-dominated areas.

Thar City was the Ipachi State's third largest city with a population of over 1 million. Various writers described the city as "a multicultural complex mix of various Khas-Kirati groups, mostly the Chepangs of Chatha region, overlaid on an Argean Ipachi base of predominately Tharu clans."

While the Ipachi State faced an active Chathaese rebellion, it was mostly active only in rural areas and Thar City had remained undisturbed for decades until 1 July 2021, when rebel fighters from border towns and villages in San Montagnan Chatha converged and penetrated into it. The Ipachi State, supported by Razzgriz, has responded with heavy-handed and indiscriminate bombardment of the city.

Throngist leadership alters the national flag of Lesva for a second time, declaring it to be the final more ideologically appropriate variant and final alteration

A new flag is flying over Lesva again, with the ruling Throngist ideological leadership replacing the national flag with a design that reflects garnet red, the color of the Throngist ideology

Image

A couple of days after officially raising a new flag of Lesva above the parliament, presidential headquarters, the constitutional court and subsequently all the government buildings and other flag displays around the country, the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva (TMPL) has decided to go with one of the earlier designs, used by the revolutionary forces from the military during the events of the Saela Spring, which ended the old republic and started the new current one under the Throngist ideology. A new flag is being adopted once again, for a second and final time, displaying 4 golden stars symbolizing cultural and historical diversity of Lesva in a triangle of garnet red in a black background. It has been deemed more appropriate for a new flag of a new Lesva to display the garnet red color, because garnet red is one of the colors, if the not the primary color, symbolizing the Lesva-unique ideology of Throngism. Today’s parliamentary session was already opened under this design displayed inside the parliamentary hall in the Carto (legislature), while the temporary platinum design with black stars has been abandoned as a national flag and would probably instead be repurposed into some other national symbol or be kept as one of the historical flags for museum display. Other Lesvan national symbols will be changed accordingly to match the new Throngist national flag.

HEADLINE: JENDERREGA ZIRILO ARSUA TO VISIT KEVERAI

ESTRA - On Tuesday, July 6th, Jenderrega Zirilo Arsua will be performing a state visit to Aizcona's neighboring nation of Keverai. This visit has been a month in planning and has been a major topic of discussion among analysts with the recent happenings in the region. The Jenderrega has stated that this visit will be one of friendship and to affirm the deep bilateral ties that hold Aizcona and Keverai together, bonds that have remained unbroken since Estral troops liberated Keverai from its Neo-Imperialist oppressors. The trip will commence with the Jenderrega meeting President Burnell Renaut at the new ferry crossing and boat landing that has been constructed near Seswick. This crossing over the Gulf of Galbar will link together the Keverai Coastal Track and the new Estral trails that were built in response to the Keverai President's friendly challenge. This new crossing will be a source of pride for both nations and a further way to link them together.

After the opening the leaders will sit down behind closed doors to discuss matters of importance in cooperation between the two nations. Items likely to be on the table will likely include further cooperation between wildland firefighting within the two nations as fire season has begun. Along with that it is likely that the leaders will review economic ties between the nations with the upcoming summit in Altera for regional trade. Of particular note will likely be a renewal of the Estral defense commitment and a possible foreign aid package that will allow Keverai to buy more military equipment from Aizcona to bolster their smaller military.

After their closed door discussions, the Jenderrega and the President will hold a joint press conference in front of media sources from both nations and then will have dinner together. ENN will be at the press conference.

DOMESTIC NEWS: WEDNESDAY RAINS HELP WFS COMBAT WILDFIRE IN THE NIJYAR DISTRICT

JAINKIRIA, NIJYAR - Recent rains yesterday are helping the Wildland Firefighting Service to combat a large wildfire in the northern part of the Nijyar district. The fire sparked over the weekend due to lightning and rapidly grew due to the recent high heat and dryness in the area. Since sunday, crews have been fighting the fire and were able to slow its progress through the use of air dropping retardant lines and water, and by cutting out large fire lines. Luckily only a few houses were in the path of the fire and no injuries have been reported.

With a passing storm in the area, the fire north of Jainkiria is at 89% containment today, Thursday. Crews assigned to the fires are mopping up, patrolling and looking for remaining hot spots. It is likely that the WFS will soon turn the fire containment over to local departments by tomorrow. Those travelling north should still be wary of air quality.

ENTERTAINMENT: ARANTZA AGUIRREBENA ANNOUNCES SOUTH ARGUS TOUR

The album has remained strong since release in December and is likely to be the Album of the year in Aizcona. Not only popular here though it has gained a large following internationally and the singer wants to give love to her old fans and new.

Parliament Commits to Strengthening Economic Partnership with Keverai
Many eyes have recently started to gaze upon the small nation of Keverai, particular from those in the business and industrial spheres. It has become a destination for many companies elsewhere, and many firms in Belantica are looking forward to expanding to their markets. With that in mind, they have reached out to numerous politicians within the federal government to engaging in formal talks between both business and political leaders on both countries. Both the House of Commons and the Senate have agreed to allow for talks between both Keverai and Belantica, and for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and Commerce to start facilitating the necessary work before the talks actually occur. Prime Minister Julia Burke (CP) signed off on this proposal, and has start that she will travel to Keverai along with other key officials and various representatives of businesses at the appropriate time.

Green Bill Stalled In Wake of Divided House
What started as talks to simply regulate the use of plastic, eventually grew into a "Green Future" law that would set Belantica on a path towards a more green future. While it has gained support among both the general public and more left-leaning politicians, it was met with resistance from the majority Liberal-Tory coalition government with the House of Commons. Prime Minister Julia Burke (CP) has stated she she believes would "inflict undue hardship on the people and economy" of the nation and "set back well over a century of Belantica's industrial might and development in an age where such a key sector is important". Burke also mentioned that this would also cause a mass outsourcing of manufacturing to nations where regulations on pollution and working conditions would not be as stringent should the green bill pass. Likewise, the supporters of the bill fired back, with one Green Party MP saying the green bill would be "a future secured for Belantica and her people", while a New Liberal politician stated that "it's time to take the issue of climate change even more seriously than we have in the past, even if we already made tremendous progress." This has resulted in the House of Commons becoming gridlocked as neither side of the issue is currently showing signs of backing down or proposing a compromise.

Montgomery Waterman Elected President of the Senate

Earlier today, Senator Montgomery Waterman, the Social Democratic Party’s choice for Senate President, was elected by the Senate as Senate President. The Senate President was elected with 56 votes out of the 100 Senators, with Communist candidate Madeline Connor receiving 31 votes and Conservative Democratic Party receiving 11 votes. Waterman was elected with the help of the supporting Democratic Party and National Revolution Party, as part of the arrangement of the recently-agreed Confidence and Supply Agreement.

Despite being of the same party as his predecessor, Minister of Foreign Affairs Carter Eldridge, the new Senate President pledged multiple changes in order to “increase the efficiency of the Senate in holding the government to account”, such as introducing a Deputy Senate President to immediately serve in the Senate President’s capacity should the Senate President be unable to carry out his duties, which would require a constitutional amendment.

Chief Wiremu of Farminggamau Island passes away at age 96

Earlier today, Chief Wiremu of the Autonomous Island of Farminggamau, the head of state of Farminggamau, passed away at the age of 96. The Chief has ruled the island for 81 years, since 1940, making him the longest-serving ruler of Farminggamau. The government of Biaten have sent their respects to the people of Farminggamau for the loss of their leader, with Chancellor Siegel calling him a “wise and good leader whose Chiefdom only comes once in a millennium”.

However, his death comes amongst high tensions between Hachen and Farminggamau, with anti-Biatenian sentiment at its highest in 200 years on the island. The Ruling Council of Farminggamau have elected chosen his grandson, Tamati, as the new Chief. Tamati has been outspoken of his opposition to Biaten, and wants to seek full independence from the Republic and complete control of the island nation’s foreign affairs. The Chancellor has stated that he “hopes that the government can continue to work harmoniously with the new Farminggamau administration in the foreseeable future”.

INTERNATIONAL: Lesvan PM visits Ainslie for talks with PM Gifford

ARBORAI (AN) - In recent days, Prime Minister Gifford has met with counterparts from Lesva, Ainslie’s northwestern neighbour and one of only two nations which share a land border with the nation. The visit, a fulfilment of a longstanding tradition, is the first time there has been a high level meeting between the Lesvans and the Ahnslens since the Saela Spring, where accusations of electoral fraud instigated a coup which through new elections has installed the current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Pova. There remains suspicions about the new government, who have adopted a nationalistic character yet initially appear to have similar policy interests to Ainslie.

The visit featured a variety of high-level meetings across the broad and wide-sweeping topics that concert the crossborder relationship between the Lesvans and the Ahnslens, culminating in a press conference which took place at the local botanical gardens. There were not many major announcements that have emerged out of this meeting, with the two leaders this morning offering commentary on a variety of issues.

First, the two leaders addressed the situation of the various settlements which despite being close to one another remain separated by national borders.

“It truly is regrettable that communities only kilometres away from one another, with a shared history and culture remain restricted and separated by what is in effect an artificial border that in comparison to the long history of the area is quite a recent phenomenon.”

The Ahnslen Prime Minister was more reserved in her comments, stating that “there are a number of issues that remain to be fully solved and discussed with regards to the border communities, although we are working constructively and in a positive manner to try and surmount the obstacles that remain to stand between these towns and cities.”

Sources close to the Prime Minister’s Office today outlined that much of this is related to Ainslie’s immigration policy with concerns that the relaxation of any land border between Ainslie and nearby nations could allow a back door for illegal migration into the nation.

The two leaders at their press conference also revealed that they and their staffs discussed at length the complex and dynamic security threats and challenges faced by Lesva and Ainslie, particularly the safety and free movement of goods and persons around the Sapphire Bay region. To this end, they also noted that further negotiations regarding smoothening regulations between the two nations export relationship will begin shortly.

Prime Ministers Pova and Gifford also noted that they had been in contact with the Aruian Government as a part of the meeting.

“We were also fortunate enough to host a small delegation of Aruians who participated in the discussions about Sapphire Bay. We are pleased to announce that the inaugural Sapphire Bay Security Summit will take place later this year in autumn, with the host city to be in Aruia. Further details on this will come through the Aruian Government who have agreed to be the lead organisers of the event.”, Prime Minister Pova announced.

After mentioning the issues of the Sapphire Bay and cross-border affairs, the two then announced quite possibly the most substantial outcomes of the visit.

“Our Northern Forests are a source of pride for Ainslie and the fact that they have been so well conserved and managed over many years is a credit to previous Ahnslen Governments. However, we must prepare for future threats to the environment and it is clear that we can no longer be insular in the way we act to preserve these environments for future generations. After talking to Prime Minister Pova, I learnt that his government is very much of the same persuasion that we are. As such, we are announcing a Border Forests Bioregion Management Fund which will help fund a new swathe of projects to improve the resilience and biodiversity of this ecosystem which both of our nations are fortunate to have the responsibility to protect. We will rely on the smartest minds from our universities and engage with a variety of stakeholders to allow our governments to make the best decisions for this area of natural beauty which has not had holistic treatment for many years.”, Prime Minister Gifford noted.

Beyond this, the two leaders remarked that the two delegations had constructive and positive discussions on a broad range of other issues and that officials from both nations will continue the dialogue in the months ahead.

The visit, although largely uneventful, sets up a new phase of the Ahnslen-Lesvan relationship as Ainslie begins to redraw its policies and how it interacts with the nation following the events of the Saela Spring. It is widely known, according to Professor Zendane of the Upper Wesland University, that Federal Government officials remain largely uneasy about the bilateral relationship between the two nations which means that the trend of there being more meetings and less announcements is likely going to be the norm for some time.

DOMESTIC: Anxieties rise as large shipment of ‘Buzz’ is intercepted

ARNTON (AN) - Ainslie is on alert this afternoon after Ahnslen border security intercepted one hundred and fifty kilograms of the crystal methamphetamine known as ‘Buzz’ at its freight handling centre in Arborai. The news has struck increased anxiety in the community that there may be a resurgence in Buzz distribution and use in Ainslie, a nation which experienced great grief the last time the drug was able to reach its shores in a large quantity. Whilst smaller shipments have been seized since 2018, the finding today is the largest since the crackdown in late 2017 caused dealing of the drug to rapidly decrease.

Norland Governor Eslen Marcen, who was at the press conference with the police commissioner and a variety of border officials, was quick to reassure the community otherwise.
“This interception is good news. It is not bad news - we have no evidence to suggest that Buzz is becoming a wider problem again and this finding means less drugs on the street but also is a sign to us that we must commit more resources to a potentially growing threat that faces our nation once again.

This will not be like last time.”

The street value of the shipment today is estimated to be in the multiple millions, likely between 100-300 million Ahnsens. It is unclear where the drugs were meant to go, owing to the lack of disclosure from authorities about this fact. However, it appears that the police have a suspicion as to who and for what purposes they have been shipped into Ainslie for.

“Based on the evidence before us, we understood Buzz to be quite a boutique drug these days - high value and shipped into Ainslie in small quantities. This appears to be a step up. What we know is that the typical destinations that these drugs would go to is either Arlanah or Dallara and are consumed and distributed by sophisticated and organised grass-roots criminal groups.”, the Governor said upon that question being asked of him.

There has been conjecture about what exactly he meant by ‘sophisticated and organised grass-roots’ group, but organised crime expert Daride Menello points to the location of where the drugs were going to as a vital clue.

“A sophisticated criminal group in Arlanah or Dallara is the sort of category that does not leave a lot of options. Most criminal groups are not from there. Rather, it is possible that this vague classification is the new way to describe the extremist Protacist organisations such as the Loyal Brotherhood and the Disciples of the End. They may be, as they have in other nations, using it as a part of their rituals and may not be for sale to the community at large.”, Dr. Menello explained.

The Arlanite Government was quick to respond to the comments made by the Governor of Norlands, saying in a statement that:

“We are grateful and glad that 150kg less Buzz will be on the streets in the coming days. Upon further clarification from the Norland Government, it is understood that the shipment was coming to Badara in Arlanah. As we gather more evidence from them and compare it to our own, we expect that arrests will be made over the coming days to bring these people to justice.

Arlanah in recent weeks has redoubled its efforts to dismantle and destroy the criminal activities of coordinated and sophisticated groups within the electorate. Our Government knows full well the damage that they can do and we cannot let it get to that point.”

Regardless of the quick response from the two governors, there remains an anxiety that Buzz may be back in Ainslie and that the efforts of the Federal Government under the Kenzai administration have been wasted. However, the Governors and Prime Minister Gifford do have a new tool in their belt that their predecessors did not have - the ability to engage an international organisation specifically focused on dismantling the types of actors involved in this shipment.

It is understood that the Federal Government is strongly involved in the ramifications of the discovery of this shipment of Buzz and are working with the Governors to plan potential strategies if the feared resurgence translates into reality, sources close to the Prime Minister’s Office suggest.

The last time Buzz made it into Ainslie in significant quantities, hundreds of overdoses presented to hospitals across the nation, typically in a violent state which made it almost untreatable without additional measures. As a result, many first responders suffered injuries as a result of the super-human-like strength and boldness that people who have taken Buzz are often known to have. It is also known to have caused at least five deaths, one of which being Jenny Revire whose death at a party resulted in a moral crisis which spurred the then Kenzai administration into action to clamp down on drug usage at parties and festivals more broadly. It is unclear who was behind the distribution of Buzz at that time, yet authorities are optimistic that intelligence gathered and received about this shipment may aid in discovering more about the past as well as stopping more of the drug coming into the country.

SECURITY TIGHTENED IN KIMISRIS AS 5th ANNIVERSARY OF RACHA INCIDENT APPROACHES

The upcoming anniversary of what has since become known among Kimisrians as "the Great Injustice" and nationally as "the Racha Incident" has led the National Government to bring in the Civil Guards to ensure peace is kept come the 12th of July. Governor Dacia, who is now in the 7th year of his 8 year term, has managed to keep tensions at a reasonable level since the 2016 incident, but recent events including the usage of private security forces along side police to break up the January strikes have led to an air of uncertainty surrounding his abilities. While Dacia has insisted that extra forces are not needed and may make the situation more volatile, the Ministry of Internal Defense has come to the conclusion that the notoriously unstable Province's assets will not be sufficient in the event that tensions escalate between the Kimisrians and other ethnic groups.

The decision has been met with both apprehension and approval from other Provincial authorities and Poleis. On the one hand, the incidents of ethnic violence that Kimisrians have carried out in the name of "national sovereignty" has been met with universal condemnation. However, the methods that the national government are using have worried some, who believe that Leiden is overstepping its authority and may use these methods on them in future. Nonetheless, the calls for unity from the President and his Ministers must be heeded if the Republic's integrity is to be preserved in these trying times. The question remains, however, of whether the measures being taken will achieve that goal.

San Montagna wins UAFA Cup opener

Image

The San Montagnan campaign got off to a great start as the Aquile won comfortably against Wellsia at the Khas-Kirati National Stadium. The inaugural match of the 2021 UAFA cup was preceded by an opening ceremony which included several key UAFA officials as well as San Montagnan and Wellsian legends of the game including Enrico Rossi and GIrolamo Ferro, which officially debuted this years tournament.

When the game began, San Montagna came out strong following a dangerous Wellsian chance in the 1st minute and broke deadlock quickly in the 12th minute with a fabulous strike by the Osoppo defender, only his second for the national team. This was followed 21 minutes later by another San Montagna goal, this time by Nicolas Midena, who tipped a pass past the Wellsian Keeper. While the game was all but sealed for the San Montagans by this point, they made sure of it with a final goal in the 67th minute scored by Roberto Tomat who netted his for the national team, giving the match its 3-0 finish. The San Montagnans managed to register 16 attempts on goal compared to the Wellsia's 7, demonstrating the one sided nature of the game.

The result brings optimism to San Montagnan supporters, who have seen a poor string of results in previous international tournaments, including this years Isles cup group stage exit. Following the game, San Montagna coach Gianluigi Riva praised the chemistry between the players, their excellent form as well as their ability to live up to the pressure of the first group stage game. Riva took over in March after the sacking of Franco Bernulli following the disappointing Isles cup campaigning, and has impressed many in his first competitive match. Riva also stressed that while the result is worthy of praise, they must be weary of complacency in the coming games to ensure qualification to the knockout stage.

UAFA Cup 2021 off to a great start: UAFA officials

Image
San Montagnan senior men's national football team, or the Aquile, before the inaugural match of UAFA Cup 2021

TAPU SAHAR

'Despite various issues and controversies, UAFA Cup 2021 is off to a great start' was the remark of most UAFA officials. 14 senior men's national teams are participating in UAFA cup this year and they were divided into four groups. Group 1 consists of Keverai, Wellsia, San Montagna and the Tsunterlands. Group 2 had Jeriga, Weinam and Torom. Group 3 was composed of Aizcona, Martenyika and the Khas-Kirati Republic. The final Group 4 saw the United Partitions, Segentova, Zephyrisia and San Javier.

There were several controversies even before the tournament started. UAFA, which is headquartered in the Khas-Kirat Republic, was accused by some of "showing favoritism and national self-interest" by placing the Khas-Kirati Republic in a group of three nations. Coach Milan Main and other Khas-Kirati sports officials had hit back at the allegations by stating that "both Aizcona and Martenyika have strong teams and we are going to have difficult times against them". There was also concerns about tournament being hosted yet again by the Khas-Kirati Republic, which has an active insurgency going on in its northeastern Khumbuwani region and hostility with the Ipachi State that might flare up any moment. However, UAFA officials dismissed those concerns by stating that "all matches will be played in Tapu Sahar, Sinja or Newa islands and not the mainland and Armed Police Force will provide the necessary security".

To the surprise of many, the inaugural match of the tournament was not one played by hosts Khas-Kirati Republic but was between San Montagna and Wellsia. The match took place during the day after an opening ceremony in the Khas-Kirati Republic National Stadium. The strong San Montagnan side dominated the match and the score was 3 - 0 at the final whistle. Defender Luigi DiFranco, forward Nicolas Midena and midfielder Roberto Tomat netted a goal each and placed the San Montagnan Aquile at the top of their group.

The second match of Group 1 took place in Khas-Kirati Republic National Stadium later during the night. The Keveraite underdogs surprised everyone with a spectacular game against the Tsunterlands team that was considered the favorite to win. The Water Dragons of Keverai exploited the lackluster Tsunter defense to bag a 4 - 2 win. Argan Turcotte struck his brace while Frederic Premen added another goal for the Keveraite team. An own goal by Tsunter midfielder Llewellyn Scamp Chae’la Cadw-Calloway further created problems for the Sons of the Sea. Captain Cathaoir Mans Chae’La Aodha and Tomás Somerled Chae’La Waterman netted their goal for the Tsunter side but victory belonged to the Water Dragons in this match.

The first match of Group 2 between Jeriga and Torom was played in Sinja Stadium during daytime. Jerigan midfielder Hernandez was the sole scorer of the match that placed Jeriga to the top of Group 2 and Toroman Azure Sharks to its bottom.

The opening match of Group 3 between the Khas-Kirati Republic and Aizcona was played in the Tapu Dome during daytime. The Khas-Kirati White Tigers started with possession of the ball solely on their side and four failed shots that went off target. In the 12th minute, the Bloodied Falangek of Azicona managed to win back the ball and even hit the target but Khas-Kirati goalkeeper and captain Ankit Maharjan performed an excellent diving save. But the same could not be said 5 minutes later when Estral defender Demokrito Anchiarte took advantage of a corner kick to score a header.

The Khas-Kiratis evened the score in the 28th minute when left winger Fau-doh Armaja. Nine minutes later, the White Tigers were in the lead when defensive midfidler Miraj Rabjansi found the net. The match was a close one as Khas-Kirati coach Milan Main had predicted and in multiple occasions throughout the second half, the Bloodied Falangek fired several shots that either missed the goal post just by inches or were deflected by Maharjan.

The opening match of Group 4 between the United Partitions and Segentova was played in Newa Stadium during daytime. The Segentovans won the game with a 2 - 0 score against the Ler 'Zarres d'Zorres of the United Partitions.

During the night, another game was played in the Newa Stadium. Zephyrisia faced San Javier in a completely one-sided affair that ended in a 4 - 1 score. The Celestes of Zephyrisia were blessed by the presence of Abram Gallo, who scored a hat-trick during the match and currently remains the Top Scorer in UAFA Cup 2021. Alex Tutor also netted a goal for the Celestes. For the San Javerian Perros Callejeros, Guiomar Ortolano was the only one who found the net.

HEADLINE: ESTRAL NATIONAL TEAM PLAYING STRONG IN GROUP STAGE

TAPU SAHAR, KHAS-KIRAT REPUBLIC - After day two of the UAFA CUP - 2021, fans across Aizcona and here in Athara Magarat are jubilant. The Estral National Team is tied for the lead of Group 3 after two exciting games that leaves the team 1-1 with three points. After today's game against Martenyika in which Aizcona won 3-1, fans in the stadium were ecstatic with huge displays of nationalism and drunkenness. Already these displays are making their way across the internet in Aizcona and around the Isles. Group three has one game left to play between the Khas-Kirat Republic and Martenyika which will decide everything for the group.

With the Estral National Team having finished out their two games here is the recap.

The first game was played against the White Tigers which was a hotly contested match that ended in a Khas-Kirat 2-1 victory. While the loss stung, feelings in Aizcona were still high seeing the team fight hard. The match got off to a hot start with the ball largely in the Falangek's half of the field where the White Tigers took four shots at goal all off target. By the eleventh minute of the game though Konstante Aldaiburu was able to snag the ball and make a break away. In the twelfth minute he was able to make a good shot on target but the Khas-Kirati goalkeeper and captain Ankit Maharjan performed an excellent diving save. The team would find their mark though and take the lead in the seventeenth minute when defender Demokrito Anchiarte took advantage of a corner kick to score a header. Another shot would be taken and would miss before the first yellow card of the match was shown to Aizcona for unsporting behavior.
The match would start to turn against the Estrans when the Khas-Kiratis evened the score in the 28th minute when left winger Fau-doh Armaja took a long shot at the net that Estral goalkeeper Teokrito Zumeta was unable to save. The Falangek would make another shot on goal that would be saved again by Maharjan. Nine minutes after their first goal, the White Tigers took the lead when defensive midfidler Miraj Rabjansi found the net. The rest of the game descended into chippiness with another two yellow cards shown and eleven shots taken in total by both teams, but no more goals were scored and the Falangek were unable to bring the match back.

After the game the Estral coach stated that it was a hard fought game and he believed his team would come back strong against Martenyika. He praised the Khas-Kirat team as a strong team year after year. The Khas-Kirati coach Milan Main had predicted the game was going to be a close one and he made reference after the game to the multiple occasions throughout the second half that the Bloodied Falangek fired several shots that either missed the goal post just by inches or were deflected by Maharjan. The mutual respect between the two was apparent and Estral fans were still convinced after the loss that the national team would bring it back.

The second match against Martenyika rewarded the fans' faith with a dominant 3-1 victory by the Falangek. The game would get off to a fast start when the Martenyikan midfielder Thabo Bapetel was able to score a header off an assist from forward Kai Zemigassou. That would be their only goal of the game and after a missed shot by the Martenyikans, the Falangek were able to take the initiative. In the twelfth minute forward Arato Varrutia made a beautiful play in which he juggled the ball around two defenders and took a shot that flew into the top right corner of the net. The next twenty minutes would be a slog between the two teams where neither even took a shot, that changed though in the 40th minute where Konstante Aldaiburu took a shot that was saved by the Martenyikan goalkeeper. For the next fifeteen minutes though the Green Devils would take the initiative with a number of shots on goal. The first yellow card of the game was shown to Aizcona and the second would be shown to Martenyika. A back and forth continued until the 68th minute where Konstante Aldaiburu passed the ball to Lino Gaztanazpi who was able to score a goal past the goalkeeper who was focused on Aldaiburu. Almost immediately afterwards in a moment that has taken over the internet, Aizcona's lead striker Konstante Aldaiburu took a corner kick and curved the ball into the net where the Martenyikan goalkeeper barely missed the save. The stadium erupted into chaos as the Estral fans went nuts as Aldaiburu ran by them in celebration. From then on the game would wind down with a few more shots taken into an Estral victory.

After the game the Estran coach Mikelots Etchebelce lifted an Estral flag and stated, "Drink up my countrymen, we did what we promised and came back strong." Konstante Aldaiburu said that he hopes the fans back in Estra enjoy that corner kick. All over Aizcona though cheers, chants and singing went on into the night after that exciting game. The game tomorrow between Martenyika and the Khas-Kirat Republic will decide what happens in Group 3, but Estral fans and the team have good feelings about the possibility of being in the Top 8.

San Montagna calls for referendum

The San Montagnan government has issued official calls for a ceasefire as between Chathese Separatist and the Ipachi government forces in Thar City following the beginning of hostilities in the area 7 days ago, it also called for a referendum to be held on Chathese unification.

Speaking to the media during a press conference, Prime Minister Giorgio Cavallo demanded that the Chathese of the Ipachi State be given the right to self-determination. "It is clear that the Chathese people desire unification, if they didn't there would be no hostilities today. The road to self-determination must be given to them so that they can decide there own path. The Ipachi State must initiate the route to this objective if it wants to see peace."

The Prime Minister also stated that San Montagna would not tolerate any spillovers of the conflict into San Montagna. When questioned about the possibility of Chathese Separatists entering Thar City from San Montagna border towns, Cavallo stated that "while border police are performing to the best of their abilities, we do not have the resources to control the entire thing."

The Press conference further confirmed what has been de facto San Montagnan foreign policy since the beginning of the 30th parallel war, the unification of Chatha under the government of San Montagna.

The calls for ceasefire and referendum follow 7 days of clashes in Thar City between Chathaese and Ipachi State forces which began on the first of July when Separatist forces entered the city, supposedly from San Montagan according to some Ipachi State officials. The current escalation of the conflict follows decades of relatively quiet rural insurrection in which Thar City and other major urban areas had remained undisturbed from the conflict, last seeing active fighting over 40 years ago. However, that peace has just recently been broken.

In San Montagna, several Chathese activist groups and political parties have welcomed the San Montagnan calls for referendum as well as the beginning of hostilities in Thar City. Paolo Chepang, member of the Chathese Catholic Party, a provincial political party in the Province of Chatha, was vocal in his support of the Prime Minister. "We have tried the diplomatic route far too long in our road to unification, but if no one will listen, nothing will get done, and that is exactly what is going on in the Ipachi State, our brothers and sisters have seen that they must up the antee in order to get the respect they deserve as human beings. And now if peace is to be had in Thar City, they must be listened to.

SMNN contacted the Ipachi state government for a comment, but received no answer.

Sathak leads San Montagna to victory

The second match of the Aquile's 2021 UAFA Cup campaign got off to a poor start but ended on a high as Defender Samir Sathak netted his first national team hat trick in a 3-1 comeback win over Keverai at Khas-Kirati National Stadium.

The second Aquile match of the campaign could have had an uneventful first 30 minutes, with only 3 shots between both teams, but Keverai took an unexpected lead thanks to a goal by Aurore Evenah in the 29th minute. Keverai managed to maintain the lead through the next 40 minutes but San Montagna was able to tie the game thanks to a gorgeous strike by Samir Sathak which beat the keeper. The deadlock did not last long as just 5 minutes later in the 75th minute, Sathak scored again, this time heading in a corner. Sathak ended all hope of a Keveran comeback to tie the game by netting a hattrick goal in the 87th minute, which gave the match its 3-1 result. Despite Keverai having the lead until the 70th minute, San Montagna managed to net 11 shots compared to Keverai's measly 6. With his hattrick, Samir Sathak entered history as the first San Montagnan defender to accomplish such a feat.

With a second win, San Montagna's place in the second stage of the tournament is all but guaranteed, as Keverai must net at least 5 goals in a win while the Tsunderlands must due the same in order for San Montagna to go out due to goal differential.

In the post game press conference, Coach Gianluigi Riva praised the spirit and tenacity of the team to be able to mount a successful comeback following a bout of complacency in the first half. Riva finished his media availability by congratulating Sathak on his historic hattrick, stating that "He is undoubtedly one of San Montagna's all-time greats, and to have a player like him perform like he does means a lot to the fans that share his Chathaese background. It just goes to show the prosperity of the Chathaese in San Montagna."

San Montagna, the Tsunterlands, Weinam, Jeriga, Aizcona, Segentova, Zephyrisia and hosts Khas-Kirati Republic enter UAFA Cup 2021 Top 8

TAPU SAHAR

The group stage for UAFA Cup 2021 has ended with San Montagna, the Tsunterlands, Weinam, Jeriga, Aizcona, Segentova, Zephyrisia and hosts Khas-Kirati Republic qualifying to the Top 8 teams of this year's tournament.

The fifth match of Group 1 between Wellsia and Keverai took place on Khas-Kirati Republic National Stadium during day-time. Wellsia's Thunnoric Heord had lost the opening match of the tournament 3 - 0 to a strong San Montagnan side and then suffered a 2 - 0 defeat at the hands of the Tsunterlands. The Keveraite Water Dragons had surprised everyone with their unexpected 4 - 2 win against the Tsunterlands and firing the opening goal in their 3 - 1 defeat to the ruthless San Montagnans. Before the match, the bets were even as the game could go either way. However, the Wellsians had already been confirmed eliminated from the tournament due to their two consecutive losses and even non-Keveraites hoped for the Water Dragons, who had entertained everyone with their great performance against the Tsunterlands, to secure their spot in the Top 8. The first half of match went without any major events until the 41st minute when midfielder Offa Belminga scored for the Thunnoric Heord. The second half saw the Wellsians double their lead through forward Creoda Aroseatna. The Water Dragons desperately tried their best but only managed to find the net in the 86th minute after Yarine Gardena took advantage of a corner-kick. The match ended 2 - 1 with a Wellsian victory and Keveraite hopes of playing in the quarterfinals were destroyed.

In the final game of Group 1 between San Montagna and the Tsunterlands later in the night at the Khas-Kirati Republic National Stadium, the San Montagnan Aquile were finally stopped on their tracks by the Tsunter Sons of the Sea. Tsunter defender Henry No-Cappa Chae’La Rackham scored for his team in the 46th minute as soon as the second half started. The San Montagnans seemed to have suffered bad luck as their multiple attempts either hit the woodwork, missed the post just by a few inches or were saved by Tsunter goalkeeper Adam Son-o’God Chae’La Flint-Calloway. Despite this defeat, the strong Aquile remained at the top of their group and qualified for the Top 8 alongside the Tsunters.

The final match of Group 2 between Weinam and Torom took place in Sinja Stadium during day-time. Weinam's Blue Dragons had humbled Jeriga 2 - 0 while the Toroman Azure Sharks had lost 1 - 0 to Jeriga. The Blue Dragons were the better team but they too suffered similar bad luck as the San Montagnans against the Tsunters as their shots all missed the post or were saved by Toroman goalkeeper Galing Karim. The Azure Sharks committed a grave error in the 48th minute when a miscommunication between Galing and his teammate Robert Tangkat led to the defender scoring an own goal. This ultimately sealed the fate of the Toroman side while Weinam and Jeriga advanced to the quarterfinals.

The final match of Group 3 between the Khas-Kirati Republic and Martenyika in Tapu Dome during the day started with much fanfare. The Khas-Kirati White Tigers were comfortable after their 2 -1 victory against Aizcona and they could qualify for Top 8 even if they drew with the Martenyikan Green Devils, who needed a huge goal difference win in order to secure their spot for the quarterfinals after losing 3 -1 to Aizcona. 3 minutes into the game, Khas-Kirati striker Firoz Suhang send a powerful shot but Martenyikan goalkeeper Yared Alengae saved his team by punching the ball into the sky and out of the field. In the 11th minute, Khas-Kirati left-winger Fau-doh Armaja was shown the yellow card for roughly shoving multiple Martenyikan defenders. The Green Devils launched a counter-attack in the 25th minute but Khas-Kirati captain and goalkeeper Ankit Maharjan kicked the ball back. This was when Maharjan made his mistake as the ball landed in the feet of Martenyikan midfielder Theodore Zembala. The Khas-Kirati defenders were outplayed by Zembala and a few other Green Devils for nearly a minute before the ball went back to Zembala again and he launched a spectacular shot that Maharajan was unable to catch in time. The first half saw one more yellow card, this time for the Green Devils, after Khas-Kirati right winger Kiran Yohimbang became the victim of a rough tackle in the 39th minute. Three minutes later, the Green Devils launched yet another offense but the shot went wide. Three more minutes later, another Martenyikan midfielder Georges Tumi had the ball land on him. Tumi's volley easily went into the goal post as Maharjan's diving save was unable accomplish anything.

Pressure was building up for the White Tigers as the second half began. Six minutes into the second half, Khas-Kirati defensive midfielder Hemant Rai was shown the third yellow card of the game for pushing his opponent. The Martenyikan and the Khas-Kirati attempts to score during the 54th and the 55th minutes respectively both went off-target. Three minutes later, the another Martenyikan attempt went off-target and the White Tigers managed to take back possession of the ball. Armaja and Yohimbang made passes to each other as they went into the offense. The Martenyikan defenders decided to mark Khas-Kirati striker Suhang but Armaja's cross instead found attacking midfielder Samir Gurung. The Martenyikan defenders tried to call for an off-side but the assistant referee did not raise the flag and Gurung found himself on one-on-one with Alengae. The Khas-Kirati midfielder tricked the Martenyikan goalkeeper into diving right and then sent the ball left into the net in the 59th minute. With the score now 2 - 1, the White Tigers went into the offensive. Between the 63rd and the 69th minutes, the Khas-Kiratis made four separate attempts but three of those went wide while one was saved by Alengae's gloves. A few more attempts were made by both sides in the final 20 minutes of the match but all of them failed. In the 83rd minute, Khas-Kirati right-back Kulbir Tamang was handed the yellow card for elbowing his opponent.

At the final whistle, the Green Devils had won the game but there was no celebration for the White Tigers managed to advance into the quarterfinals. Martenyikan media was quick to blame "corrupt referees". They alleged that Khas-Kirati players were only shown yellow for offenses that ought to have been red cards and that Gurung's 59th minute goal was off-side. "UAFA is headquartered in Tapu Sahar and most UAFA officials are Khas-Kirati Republc's citizens. There were already other allegations against them and this match further proves that the hosts cheated." A Martenyikan newspaper even alleged that the referee and assistant referees in the match had been "sent lavish gifts, visits by scantily-clad women and vacation tickets by Khas-Kirati UAFA officials".

In Newa Stadium, the fifth match of Group 4 took place between Segentova and San Javier during the day. The Segentovans had won 2 - 0 against United Partitions and 3 - 1 against Zephyrisia whereas the San Javierian Perros Callejeros had lost two consecutive matches against 4 - 1 against Zephyrisia and 3 - 0 against United Partitions and were already confirmed out of the tournament. It was not hard to see which team was deemed the favorite to win and the Segentovans did indeed win with a 3 - 1 score. Segentovan players scored in the 23rd, 52nd and 61st minutes while San Javier's midfielder Tacito Castaneda found the net in the 36th minute.

The final game of group stages took place later that night in Newa Stadium between United Partitions and Zephyrisia. The match saw the only draw in the entire tournament so far. Paritioner Ler 'Zarres d'Zorres were the first to open the scoring account on 5th minute thanks to their midfielder Sun Catron. However, in the 34th minute, the Celestes of Zephyrisia equalized with an Abram Gallo goal. Gallo currently remains the Top Scorer in UAFA Cup 2021 with 4 goals. The score read 1 - 1 at the final whistle. From Group 4, Segentova's spot in the Top 8 was already confirmed but Zephyrisia would be joining them thanks to top scorer Gallo's 4 goals despite the Celestes having same points and goal difference as United Partitions.

Upcoming Quarterfinals Fixtures

- San Montagna v Jeriga (Khas-Kirati Republic National Stadium)

- Aizcona v Zephyrisia (Sinja Stadium)

- Weinam v The Tsunterlands (Newa Stadium)

- Segentova v Khas-Kirati Republic (Tapu Dome)

San Montagna lose but still top group

Image

For San Montagnan fans hoping the Aquile would go undefeated in group A, their wishes were left unanswered as San Montagna was shut out by The Tsunderlands in their final Group game. They were however still able to top Group A on goal differential.

The final group game got off to a quick start with a dangerous San Montagnan shot by veteran striker stopped by Flint Calloway, and was followed by no less than 7 shot attempts in an eventful first half that ended in a 0-0 tie. Unfortunately for the San Montagnans, the second-half also kicked off with an early scoring chance, but unlike the first half, Henry No-Cappa Chae’La Rackham managed to bury it for the Tsunderlands. The early second half goal ended up being the difference as despite 8 dangerous chances to do so, San Montagna was unable to net the tying goal. Tsunterlandish goalkeeper Calloway was the clear difference maker in the victory, managing to pull off no less than 6 saves, including a sensational 77th minute goal line save off a Samir Sathak header, who was hoping to earn his fourth goal and second header of the tournament. With the result, the Tsunterlands earned the second place spot in the group and qualification to the quarterfinals, where they will face off with Weinam. Despite the loss, San Montagan maintained their top position in the group and will face Jeriga, who qualified with a 1-0-1 record thanks to a tight 1-0 win over Torom.

During the post game press conference, Head coach Gianluigi Riva talked about the inability to capitalize on key chances during the game, but stated he was proud that the Bianchi-Blu never gave up and fought until the end for the result. “Obviously we could have done more during the match, but these are also lessons we must take into our next match against Jeriga, and I believe if we play our style of play, we can easily come out with the result.” Riva finished by congratulating the team for maintaining the second best defensive record during the group stage, allowing only two goals through three games, beaten only by Weinam’s 0 goals allowed through 2 games. San Montagna shares its defensive record with Segentova for 0.66 goals allowed per game so far in the tournament.

Performance against Jeriga is crucial for the Aquile if they are to break their recent string of bad results in international competitions.
