State Reintegrates - What to Expect Next?

“Today, we are proud to declare the irrevocable revival of Weissnorja in its historical border. Soviet invasion, civil war and years of political instability have not shattered our determination to build a free and prosperous nation. Each of us has been constructing the way to this victory – day by day, brick by brick. We have just left behind what may be the most difficult period of our nation and are finally able to think about tomorrow with no fear of atrocities It can bring to us” – Gene Daly, the Prime Minister of Weissnorjan Confederative Government.

Indeed, after more than 20 years of split between the Confederative Government and Sarov faction (named by the former soviet military base the faction has claimed as its capital) the latter ones announced they lay down weapon. Despite severe war-weariness, an unexpectedly high percentage of Weissnorjans disapprove Daly’s successful and peaceful conflict settlement. Gene Daly, the current Prime Minister, was brought to power along with a team of like-minded people exactly due to his irreconcilably hostile attitude towards Sarov faction. Some people fear Daly’s political grip is actually not as firm as considered to be, and question his further stride in foreign policy. This is crucial for Weissnorjans nowadays as the country being absorbed by inner conflict had no ability to gain enough influence in the region. Daly is also criticized – mostly by his rivals – for excessive footsie with queens and kings of the regional political chessboard. Though this may boost the overcoming of civil war consequences, Weissnorja is, on the other hand, in danger of being retracted from the game of thrones at all if the Government fails to uphold the nation’s interests.

Daly has also announced the restoration of course to amplification of diplomatic relationships with neighbouring countries. Besides, the country, being previously closed to external business entries and immigration, is now restoring its Immigration Bureau and wide opens the gate to foreign businesses. Major economic boost is predicted as Weissnorja offers tax free zone.

DOLE clears groups suspected of smuggling drugs out of Lardingo

October 28th, 2017
Crystal City, Lardingo,
The Department Of Law Enforcement And Justice announced that it had cleared all of the organizations suspected of smuggling the deadly drug known as “Buzz” out of Lardingo. The yet unidentified groups were being watched by DOLE for a long time. A department spokesman said in a statement that after examining all evidence, there was nothing to warrant a further investigation into the organizations. This comes just days after a hacking of Keveran bank accounts revealed Councilmen Jason Mulk had connections with several of the suspicious entities.

Many Councilmembers have taken this as a sign to continue their filibustering of a bill in COPAD known as the “Buzz Bill”. The bill would outlaw the production of heroin, crack cocaine, crystal meth, and non medical amphetamines and methamphetamines, including Buzz. The COPAD minority is insisting that the Buzz bill would open the doors to a “granny state”. Many worry that the next step would be to ban cigarettes and alcohol.
Proponents of the the bill say the aforementioned drugs alter the user’s mind and have a much higher risk than alcohol of leading to addiction. They state that Lardians on these drugs are a clear and immediate danger to themselves and those around them, and violate other’s rights to safety and property.

Today's Poll:
Do you approve of the Buzz Bill?
Yes 40%
No 51%
No Opinion: 9%

OSTER-ATNAIAN RELATIONS: ALLIES GROWING APART?

The long-lasting friendship between Ostehaar and Atnaia has known ups and downs, yet it has always been an anchor point for both administrations, as was even demonstrated during the Atnaian Succession Crisis in early 2016. Since the Merrit Isle disaster in May of the same year, Ostehaar has supported the Hegemony in its agenda towards the island, ignoring claims that called the Merrit referendum 'fake' and accused Atnaia of assassinating Merrit leading figures. Just two months ago, Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer affirmed this position once again by condemning the terrorist activity in Merrit following the surprising declaration of separation. Wessich called this friendship "our international brotherhood and an untarnished alliance" when the two nations signed a significant nuclear power deal earlier in 2017.

But not all has been good and well. Economic disagreements between Oster and Atnaian companies in Tjiravik have leaked into politics over the past several years, resulting in several tense meetings between diplomats of both nations. The trade embargo placed on Atnaia by Ostehaar following the Ticking Flu outbreak was seen in Atnaia as a serious blow, surpassed only by the revelation that Oster actions lead to Atnaian deaths in San Javier. Meanwhile, relations between Ostehaar and Atnaia's Mesder neighbor Covonant have been tightening. While 'keeping quiet' in regional forums, Oster decision-makers have been criticizing the Hegemony's gradually growing implementation of anti-democratic methods over the past two years.

"Some seem to believe that this alliance means Ostehaar must support any policy regardless our own positions and principles," an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told FNN a few weeks ago. "Friends need to tell each other the hard truths. It is vital that we have an honest, clear-eyed conversation about the uncomfortable truths and difficult choices, because the alternative that is fast becoming the reality on the ground is in nobody's interest." In a rare statement yesterday, that seem to reflect these words, Minister Brahurer has expressed her government's concerns about the situation in Atnaia. "We were all glad to hear about the successful Protaex tests and we do hope that Atnaia would finally overcome the Ticking Flu completely," Brahurer said, "but we should not ignore the questions raised regarding the current status of the quarantine camps and debtors' camps."

According to some experts on the matter, following changes to the Atnaian Public Stability Act in the summer of 2016, the country's indenturement system prisons were transformed into what can be considered as 'concentration camps' for Asorists and 'political dissidents'. An Oster activist operating in the I.D. explained that these camps have all the things you would find in a fascist concentration camp, including unlawful executions and re-education of children. "This goes hand in hand with the recent crackdown against civilians and mass arrests by the Atnaian secret police," the activist said. "This is no longer the Atnaia we knew and loved, but rather a murderous, violent regime that must be changed."

Now, the Merrit Liberation Front claims to host the legitimate ruler of Atnaia. A few weeks ago the group published a recent recording of Prince Henri Lucer, the country's ousted leader. Atnaian authorities announced that it was an impostor and refused to discuss West Suomi's suggested cease-fire - but FNN's anonymous sources claim to have information indicating that the recording is, in fact, Prince Lucer's. The Oster I.D. activist says he knows the right answer for sure. "And if they were lying about Henri? Would that surprise you?"

RICCI EMBARGOES WEST SUOMI WITHOUT SENATE APPROVAL, ORDERS SUOMI NATIONALS TO LEAVE WITHIN THE NEXT MONTH

President Bissente Alessandru Ricci speaking on the senate floor

BELTEMPO -- Upset has arisen among the Atrian senate after President Alessandru Ricci used his executive powers to embargo all exports and imports from West Suomi, as well as demanding that all Suomi nationals leave the isle "if they don't wish to cause any problems with Atrian authorities."

Already debate has begun over whether this was a breach of the president's constitutional powers, and if this could technically be grounds for impeachment. Legally, the president is only allowed to use executive in diplomatic situations where national security is at risk, and presently there are no signs that West Suomi poses any security threat to the confederacy. Tensions have been rising between the presidents of the two nations, with Alessandru Ricci insulting the president of West Suomi, Jeyzor, calling him a "childish backbiter" after Jeyzor mentioned him in passing while speaking about Typhoon Nate.

Although the embargo is being reinforced by law, Ricci's demand towards nationals has yet to be acted upon. A group of Suomian woman who were visiting family in Atriano claim to have had their West Suomi ID's declined when attempting to board an airplane home in Porta del Beltempo.

"Ridiculous isn't strong enough for this," Tiina Heinilä told ANNN after the incident. "Bar us from traveling back to our home because two presidents are bickering? Disgusting."

Ricci stated that he'd be willing to meet with Jeyzor to discuss the potential to come to a solution regarding the two nations' relations. ANNN attempted to reach the president to speak with him about the situation, but sadly we received no response back.

Tiina Heinilä from the story here! Never fear, I was able to get back home after all the mess. Hopefully my story will help our two nations come to find common ground, and the presidents will settle this like men.

Bravo Rio's Response to Accusations

After a recent influx of accusations to the Brovan government of their alleged involvement with the “buzz” crisis taking the world by storm. Ajay has been forced to come out and speak on this topic. At roughly 6pm yesterday night in the Mayoral Ballroom Ajay held his speech.

“My dear brothers and sisters, I know our country has been through some hard times. But we will always prevail and come out on top together as one nation! Now it is no secret that the government has been subject to many accusations by others on being linked to the new drug crisis exploding across Gael. I can assure everyone that the Brovan Government is not responsible for this drug.”

This speech has been met with much skepticism from Bravo Rio’s populace. Many political think tanks and prominent anti-ajay-administration advocates are gathering support to try and incite a political reform within the nation. Kini-Kini Mandeha has come out of the woodworks to speak against his father, saying: "It is no secret my father has been in the drug business for decades, this is just another drug to grow his criminal empire. Sadly this is a normal occurrence and it must be stopped."

Stalemate Continues, No Major Fighting

Despite the offensive presence of Tolbert on the throne, the Prince has delayed advancing on Ost-in-Edhil, and has contented himself to wait for Tolbert to come forth and do battle. Tolbert, for the time being, is content to play King, and had already executed a number of people loyal to the prince, and is instituting democracy in hopes of winning over the people. The Prince’s army only swells, as defecting knights realise the error in their ways.

Jeyzor accepts Atrian president Ricci’s proposal for a meeting to discuss relations; following embargo put on Suomi

Following Bissente Alessandru Ricci’s controversial decisions to embargo West Suomi and force all Suomians out of the country, he also gave Jeyzor a chance to meet with him and discuss the two state’s relations. Today Jeyzor announced the following on the issue inside the Capitol Building:
Hello everyone, again. Been speaking to you often recently, eh? Anywho, I will be discussing Atrian president Ricci’s offer for myself to meet with him and discuss relations. I think this is a great idea, and thus I accept the offer. I don’t want to make enemies with presidents in The Isles, only friends. This meeting would allow our two nations to ‘prosper’, as the Suomian Bank ABWS’s slogan goes. Jokes aside, I think that this meeting is pivotal to our two nations’ relations, and the better nations get along, the better all nations involved succeed. Thank you all.

If Jeyzor is allowed to speak with Ricci, then this would be a huge oppurtunity to improve the two countries’ currently bad relations.

Minister of Law Enforcement Cam Nguyen sends police to Dasko after brutal attack by Whites Rise

Following a horrific shooting by a member of Whites Rise in Dasko, Minister of Law Enforcement, Cam Nguyen, has decided to send 50 of Suomi’s best police officers and detectives from all provinces to crack down on Whites Rise’s activity in Dasko. Nguyen stated the following earlier today:
There has recently been a horrific terrorist attack in Dasko, done by a despicable, bigoted man of Whites Rise. Whites Rise has alarmingly been gaining a lot of traction in Dasko, and I don’t want this to escalate further and let more innocent Daskans of colour pass away. So the Department of Law Enforcement and the Department Of Foreign Affairs have unilaterally decided to send at least 50 of Suomi’s best police and detectives to crack down on Whites Rise’s activity in Dasko. Thank you all, and remember that we can only prosper if we choose to accept our neighbours.

Thank you Ms. Nguyen.

Whites Rise needs to be stopped, therefore many people are happy about Cam’s decision. However, some Whites Rise supporters booed the motion.

Earlier today, Empress Eline spoke out about the changes in foreign relations and the details of immigration and emigration policies. She ensured citizens that the Border Act of 1934 would be fully respected, meaning immigration and emigration of all kinds continues to be illegal, and that all flights and ships in or out of the country will be exclusively trade or military related. This news comforted citizens still uncomfortable with the prospects of tourism and immigrants, as well as gave them hope for an increasingly strong economy now that importing and exporting is legal.

Foreign relations, a much more sensitive topic, was also brought up by Imperial interviewers, and the Empress answered clearly and concisely about the new policies, stating:
Embassy blocks have finished construction by our wonderful workers, and have signaled to begin the legality of foreign relations. It is imperative for our Empire to familiarize itself with the outside world to learn and show our new promise and potential to the Western Isles. We will make our interests known without joining into pointless conflict, we will make peace and we will prosper in the wake of democracy's mistakes.

The hacking group Reveal released a batch of emails early this morning allegedly between Vice Executive Lizard Harrison and DOLE head Calven Makenshop. The explosive leak shows evidence that the Vice Executive pressured the head of DOLE in a series of emails. He demanded that Makenshop call off the investigation of COPAD councilmen Jason Mulk and companies identified as AimRight, Greens, Korbila, and SeaFare. Aimright owns dozens of gun suppliers in Morrow District. Greens is a well known defense contractor of the government. Korbila is a nationwide pharmaceutical company that develops pain killers. SeaFare owns a fleet of cargo ships that import products out of Lardingo.

Here are excerpts from the batch of emails released by Reveal:
There’s a lot of pressure on me and my associates right now. You need to call of the investigation. I know it doesn’t look good, but there will be a cash reward in this.

VE Harrison

---
Just this one time. You need stop stirring the pot.

Makenshop

The leaks have triggered an uproar across the nation, at the discovery that the Head of DOLE knowingly shut down an investigation on the Vice Executive’s orders. The Chief Executive has been quiet throughout the whole ordeal, although this morning she released a statement resolving to “get to the bottom of this.” The implication of Renold’s Vice Executive and Head of DOLE is a political nightmare for her. There have been calls for Renold’s to be included in the investigation as well. The Vice Executive has not responded or issued a statement as of yet.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as they come.

DOMESTIC: Judicial Council Opens Inquiry
Arnton, Ainslie

The unusually quiet Judicial Council has announced today in response to public concern that they will ‘indeed hold an inquiry into the Buzz epidemic in Ainslie and all related incidents surrounding it’.

Shirazi’s office gave the press a statement today surrounding the inquiry
“Unlike many inquiries, we have no terms of reference guiding this one. Nothing is off the table. We will hold a rapid and decisive yet thorough investigation into this incident that Ainslie finds itself in and present recommendations and take further action if necessary.”

This inquiry has received positive remarks from the Ahnslen Senate, with many citing that the Electoral Court overstepped its boundaries by allowing the evidence to be brought in front of the courts. The Judicial inquiry is expected to focus on this challenge of legality as well as the overall response to the drug itself.

It was only a few months ago since the Electoral Courts of Wesland were under criticism for a denial of procedural fairness, leading to a Judicial Inquiry occurring into that specific event. It was expected that such drastic measures by the Judicial Council would have cleared out the issue from happening again so quickly, but it appears that the embers are still burning in Highland Ridge. Kingsley, whose case was at the centre of the last inquiry, today expressed her support for this new inquiry stating that ‘it needed to get to the bottom of all of this’. It is unlikely that the Courts will be dissolved at the Electoral level in Wesland like last time, but instead a more direct approach will be taken. The Judicial Council’s preliminary recommendations will be made available soon, concluding the first stage of the inquiry, leading to a more deeper and holistic inquiry to occur with limited media attention. The head of the Electoral Courts of Wesland has come out defending his judges, stating that the Judicial Council would do the same if presented with the same case. The Judicial Council has not responded to this comment.

Three Keveran nationals on death row for drug related charges
Wednesday 1 November, 2017
By Thin Nat-sen
@ThinNatSen

Image

In a court case that was highly public today, three Keveran nationals were sentenced to death by the People's Court after overwhelming proof obtained by border security drug teams showed that they had intended to bring illicit immoral substances into the EUSR with the intent to sell said substances illegally. The three keverans, whose names are yet to be released, were not caught at the border. They made it past initial security at Sirasangh International Airport before boarding an internal flight to Khivara in the Tumanese ASR. There they were caught by Tumanese Internal Ministry Border Security (TIMBS). What was of particular note was that the drug "buzz", which has been plaguing Gael but had not reached the EUSR yet, as found among the large amount of drugs found. This is a worrying sign for authorities, especially if Tumanese contacts already have access to the drug.

Tumania has become a hub of the nascent Bhikkustani drug trade, as much of the region is lawless and many criminal gangs operate in conjunction with the Islamist terrorists. This unwanted influx of drug dealers and terrorists has resulted in greater surveillance of the Tumanese ASR, a policy that has helped reduce terror and drug rates.

The Keveran nationals will now be on death row for seven days while facilities are prepared for their death, which will be administered by firing squad. The justice ministry released a statement claiming that these criminals "Damage the moral framework of the nation and are agents of Mara. Their deaths are a kindness that stops them from attaining negative karma from their bad actions which shall result in deaths of many."

After long deliberations in the past week, the National Congress has concluded in a 358-0 vote that, without a Balniki response or a release of the Dormill-Stiuraian Embassy in Rustov, war is the only option left to free the Embassy and show to Balnik that the blatant threatening of Dormill-Stiuraians for any reason will not result well for them. Airstrikes from the DSN Dormill and the DSN Stiura were initiated earlier this morning against known Balniki defenses while military forces of the Federal Republic began final preparations for a now inevitable invasion. General of the First Army that will be conducting the majority of operations in Balnik, Bethney Hart, made a statement onboard the DSN Dormill before the strikes began at 8 am Local Time, stating "Our mission here is to subdue the Balniki military, secure our embassy, and ensure that they will not attempt to do such a shortsighted thing as to threaten our citizens. We will not come as conquerors and we do not intend to cause undue damage to the people of Balnik. However, it would be wise for anybody involved to not get in our ways as this war progresses, as it would unnecessarily prolong the suffering that all wars inevitably bring."

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Benjamin Ison

Supreme Court Orders That Investigations Continue

November 4th, 2017
The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, ordered the DOLE investigation into numerous companies suspected of producing and exporting drugs to continue. They also ordered the resumption of the probe into the actions of Councilmen Jason Mulk. Vice Executive Lizard Harrison and the Head of DOLE will also be included in the probe. They announced that an independent council would be placed in charge of all investigations.

Their action comes just day after a Department Of Law Enforcement And Justice employee leaked emails between DOLE Head Makenshop and the Vice Executive suggesting that the VE bribed and coerced Makenshop to put an end to the investigations.

Meanwhile, the Libertarian led fillibuster of the “Buzz Bill” in COPAD continues. Proponents of the bill have announced that they are willing to negotiate with the dissenting minority.

Renold’s government is in chaos. The higher ups looked weaker than over before.
By Kirk Nimmens

We should have known that bad things would happen. Councilmen, and very nearly the Chief Executive, being murdered by a sniper is never a good sign. Now we hear that the Vice Executive, the Head of DOLE, and a member of COPAD, are all part of a scheme to make money off overseas addicts (Like we don’t have enough of those ourselves). With two of Renolds’s right hand men being accused of corruption, many are rightly asking the question: If they are corrupt, why wouldn’t she be?

COPAD is in the middle of debating a hairbrained bill that would criminalize those who make drugs such a Buzz. They’re forgetting that addicts will always find a way to get the stuff and will turn to violent means to do so. Besides it’s just one step from drugs to sodas when you have a nanny state mentality. If the Districts were not so well established and self-sufficent, I’d wager that we’d have dissolved into an anarchy by now, or maybe a tyranical dictatorship.

Up to this point, Lardingo has had a fairly quiet history. Yes we’ve had our troubles, but they have been confined to the domestic sphere. Now we are caught up in an international scandal. Eva Renolds made a big mistake when she opened Lardingo up the world, and now it’s coming back to bite her.

K. Robinson speaking on Ajays death

It is no secret that earlier this morning at 8:27 our president Ajay Mandeha was found dead with a bullet hole in the back of his head. Today we will be going over the processes in place to ensure we have a new leader elected as soon as possible. Since this is the first governmental assassination in our nations history, we have never had any process in place detailing what goes on when the president is assassinated. But thanks to our extremely calm and helpful government who was in the meeting room since 9 AM this morning. They are now telling the nation what is to be done to get our government back to normal. The following is a piece from Sheriff of the military King Robinson's talk:

"My brothers and sisters, I greatly mourn the loss of our faithful president Ajay Mandeha, but this death is to be taken as a lesson. We all know Mandeha was involved in what other countries consider illegal actions but are legal in our nation. We believe that this corruption that took ahold of our president caused his downfall. We are launching an investigation into who killed the president. Their punishment will be harsh unless they turn themselves in. [...] Enough of that, we all know you are wondering what is next? The cabinet has joined together and agreed that elections will be starting as of this exact moment. And for now I will act as president. I am not to make any changes legislative wise. Merely a interim position."

So as you can see, the elections have officially started. We will provide all of you with all the details needed to participate. God bless.

FIRST ANNUAL AUTUMNAL BALL ANNOUNCED

Preparations for the Ball

BELTEMPO -- This weekend, President Bissente Alessandru Ricci announced plans for Atriano's first "Autumnal Ball." This celebration of the season is planned to be held next Friday, and many politicians from across the Western Isles have been invited.

Ricci's not known for his outgoing nature. In fact, he banned citizen tours of the presidential chateau so that there'd be less people in the house at all times. Perhaps this is a sign of change for the president's shut-in lifestyle!

The ball will take place on November 17th at the President's chateau in the capital city of Beltempo. Reporters from ANNN will be in attendance, keeping you updated on the latest events!

Demonstrations turn violent, local militia shoots at protestors

A sunny Thursday morning in the major Aprosian city of Ašinsk turned bloody, as the far-Ketseluvianist militia Závúsda Rázaznejj, the Revolutionary Front (ZR), shot at demonstrators and wounded 19 demonstrators, today at midday, seemingly due to demonstrator provocation.

The small sized demonstrations in the Aprosian holy city for the restoration of the ‘Aprosian Holy Empire’ had been continuing for the third day, until the militia men who came to keep order in those city parts, along with the city police, until shots were fired at the demonstrators after ‘’men in the demonstrators started showing signs of aggression, gun posession and throwing items at the militia men’’, claim made by the head of the militia.

Many of the modern day NA militias track their history back to the Aprosian Civil War of 1970’s, when a unified standing military didn’t yet exist and the primary fighting force were different militias, usually fighting near their home areas. When a unified standing military came in the end of 1979, after the long civil war, many people didn’t move from the militia’s into the then called ‘Aprosian People’s Army’’, but stayed in their militias, while pledging allegiance to the ‘’National Union of Revolutionary Militias’’, a part of the Ministery of Defence and pledging to protect their home areas.

The demonstrations, which started at 3rd of October, were to be watched over by the national police, but the ZR early on informed the national police that they would help keeping order in the city. After the shootings, the many of the demonstrators decided to end it to avoid further possible bloodshed. It is not yet known will the federal government of NA make any criminal accusations and possible trial of the perperators.

Police conducting a drug raid in Miramar.
Inter-Agency Cooperation Pays Off: Drug Smuggling Shoots Down

Verona Beach Buzz has lost its buzz. The government has released the first monthly wave of statistics relating to law enforcement after the founding of the inter-agency SMUGPOL, and the results are clear: Drug busts are up, and drug-related overdoses are down. While the specifics of this new agency's strategy to combat drug use are still kept classified to keep them unknown to drug smugglers, it's inferred that a dual-prong strategy is employed.

The first prong is to combat demand, with the most prominent tactics taken by the police including graphic anti-use posters at concert venues, increased bag checks at sporting events and festivals, and ramped up mandatory drug education in the school system. This first prong's system is known as "SURE," or the Substance Use Resistance Education program. The name serves twofold according to Chief of Police Matt Waxley: not only does the program teach the dangers of controlled substances, but it "will SUREly lessen drug use and abuse."

The second prong is to combat supply. This one is less visible to the public and thus makes it harder to place down concrete tactics for this part, however, we at the Beach Reporter have been able to make some educated inferences. First, it's clear that there is some form of intelligence-gathering, most likely involving more heavy undercover infiltration of drug smuggling. Second, this gathered intelligence is used to make some incredibly high-frequency and high-profile arrests, drastically increasing the prison population and incurring massive amounts of Buzz as confiscated evidence. In fact, this raises a serious question that SMUGPOL will have to face:

What do you do with all these confiscated drugs?

THE EALDWIC DAILY NEWS

Breaking news:
After nearly 270 years the Council of 104 has voted with the assent of the Suffet and the Assembly to establish a new constitution for the Empire of Wellsia. The Council of 104 has decided that with the greater interaction by Wellsia and other nations a more simple constitution is needed. Wellsia now has daily interactions with her allies in C6 and the JEF and with Atnaia now that the Empire is joining the Atish Commonwealth. This decision has been reached with the aid of Covonant and Albion Invictica.
The Suffet which has always been the moral leader of the Empire will be now granted the title of Emperor of Wellsia and the Argive Colonies, Suffet of the people. The Council of 104 has changed the term period of the Suffet from 6 years to life. The Assembly will still elect the Suffet, but now the Suffet must be a member of the House of Juung, and will hold the title till voluntary abdication or death. The Council will also give up it's executive authority to the Emperor by passing a Resolution of Emergency Executive Powers, which unlike previous resolution is passed in perpetual with the Council only allowed to revoke the Resolution by a two-thirds vote. The Council of 104 will now be known as the Council of State and will now included not only the sitting councilmen but also all Heads of Households or their personal representative. The Council of State will now be the Upper House of the new Imperial Legislature. The Lower House will be made up of the Assembly which will now have the right to institute bills of law instead of just approving actions of the Council.
The Directorate will continue to operate has the Imperial Cabinet under the leadership of the Overprocurator, but will now be responsible to the Emperor instead of to the Council.
All other duties of the different branches of government will remain the same until an official constitution can be written and approved. The Director of Interior Affairs and his office will be glad to answer any questions or concerns about the change.
Thank you

Supreme Court begin public inquiry, SAFITRAC scandal escalated
Image

KABAR SAHARI - 07/11/2017, 08:39

Image
Supreme Court of Samudera building in Bhinneka

BHINNEKA, Kabar Sahari - The Supreme Court of Samudera today began a public inquiry into the “Buzz” epidemic that has been ravaging the nation for the past two days. The President had been resisting a referral of the issue to the Courts but gave the green light to do it today, bowing to public pressure and in a direct response to the devastating epidemic that has taken hundreds of lives. He stated that “it had already been handled well by the police”.

Chief Justice Aditya Malanggeng held a press conference this morning addressing the referral;

We will look further into this drug epidemic in which is a very peculiar case. This is the first time since 1991 we have had a major drug problem and as such, we are currently doing an investigation on the request of the President.

This is the first Supreme Court public inquiry since the infamous Burnet Massacre in 2006 led to the rekindling of long standing Ahnslen customary law which gives inquiry powers to the “highest courts in the land”.

Much progress has been made by the police regarding the epidemic, where the head of SAFITRAC, Anthony Riyaldi was declared a suspect after a detailed investigation uncovered a bribery scandal where he accepted $100,000 dollars to cover up a $3 million dollar suspicious transaction to a Brovan charity. It is revealed that the money is the proceeds of drug trafficking and that the head of SAFITRAC purposely ignored the crime.

Currently, national police have been investigating whether there were any connections between the scandal and the Ministry of Finance, the government body which supervisors SAFITRAC. The police do not believe Riyaldi acted alone, and they suspect another high profile individual was also behind this.

500 Thousand Vences Seized From Suspected Illegal Fishing Syndicate

NORMACK: Earlier today in the City of Normack of Lester Province, twenty-two individuals, including civil servants, in a maritime law enforcement raid against an illegal fishing vessel, have been put into police custody, and are suspected to be in relation to an illegal fishing syndicate. The law enforcement officers seized cash totaling at approximately 500 thousand vences. The money that was seized is believed to be from corrupt activities on the black market in the village of Tapal, outside the City of Normack.

Yorrkon Anti-Corruption Commission (YACC) chief commissioner Zachery Torram said nine of the individuals were picked up by the boat from foreign nations in neighboring waters. He said they comprised six civil servants, five of whom were Yorrkon Maritime Enforcement Agency (YMEA) personnel, and one from the Normack Fisheries Department; nine local boat operators and middlemen; and seven Yorrkon nationals, including two women. The foreign individuals are unknown to be hostages that were taken from the illegal fishermen. The five YMEA personnel are being further questioned on their involvement with the possibly syndicate.

“We believe the syndicate has been active since end of last year by paying 2,000 to 10,000 vences for each local fisherman’s permit and private vessel, depending on the size of the suspected syndicate” Torrman told a press conference, also attended by YMEA chief director Issac Uman. Local law enforcement are beginning a thorough investigation of the syndicate, and possible piracy taking place off the coast of Yorrkon.

Article V Petition Reaches 3/4 of Required Signatures; Leader Nagel Comments

Image
Leader Nagel after his comments

An Article V Petition, which was created by the Christian Democrat leadership last month, accrued 3/4 of the required signatures to take effect. The petition, would it accrue the required signatures, would trigger a national election for all the offices that would be put up for election in 2020 on the grounds of "distrust in the Volkegoth government by Volkegoth citizens," according to the Christian Democrats. The petition has two months remaining to acquire the remaining 1/4 of signatures needed. Many political commentators state that this is almost certainly an inevitable event. Many Volkegoths, such as political commentator and Chronicles correspondent Damian Agthoven, who stated on the news, "this petition is bad news for the Civil Libertarians and good politics on the part of the Christian Democrats. The Civil Libertarians will almost certainly lose seats to the Christian Democrats and the New Populists, and likely even the General Governorship."

Leader of the Delegation Benedictus Nagel commented on the petition in yesterday's Convention of the Congress, in which he stated,

This Petition, unfortunately, must take effect for the good of Volkegoth. If Governor-General Hendriks and his administration remain in power, Volkegoth will, inevitably, become the laughing stalk of the region. I hope an Article V election can put this country back on track, and install competent leaders into government.

Battle at Mont Étienne, Pretender Routed

The pretender, watching his levies and knights slowly vanish in the face of repeated defeat in air battles and internal quarrel over the status of rebellious peasants, decided to assault in full force the King’s army, which had been weakened quelling revolts in the Swail and the Lakelands. Mortar barrages, combined with the meagre use of artillery, caused the Prince’s right flank, under his brother, the Duke of Blanchard, to lash out, and scatter. The levied on the pretender’s left broke, but the peasants there held out for several bloody hours before withdrawing. The pretender concentrated his armour in the centre, to its own ruin, for the Prince himself led a charge from atop a Hussar that smashed the enemy vehicles. The Prince’s left, under the command of the level headed Fairview succeeded in encircling much of the pretender’s right flank, which surrendered shortly after discovering its predicament. Among those captured were Lord Mont-Saint-Pierre, though notably his brother the Count was absent, Baron Palorde, Sir Simon of Alnswich, a great fighter, and the pretender’s heir apparent too. Most of Tolbert’s knights have left or defected by now, leaving only peasants to defend the pretender. Levies on both sides are disappearing and deserting, now that the Prince’s ascension seems inevitable. It is estimated that the pretender’s army lost 20.000-30.000 men, while the good Prince list less than a thousand. After Mount Étienne, the Prince pursued the pretender, who has taken refuge in Boroughdale Castle, where he is well-supplied and could hold out for several months.

New Policies Announced

Though the Prince has not yet ascended the throne, nor had time to prepare for such festivities, the Prince has advertised his plans for the country, once the nuisance of the pretender is eradicated. The Prince has promised to formally declare war on San Montagna, though is not ruling out continued trade with San Montagna, unless San Montagna acts hostilely first. It is known how active the Prince intends to be, considering the current state of the navy and army, which has lost many vehicles from the Pretender’s treachery. The Prince has also ordered serfs to return to their masters and resume their lives, offering safe passage to their manors and the promise not to be tried for treason by a royal judge.

Machado Wins Council Seat, Liberals Maintain Plurality

Image
Santos Machado waves to a crowd after voting Wednesday afternoon

Alan Weirsma, Val Horne

Cortes- In one of the closest Federal Council elections since 1994, Christian Democrat Santos Machado (CDU) has defeated Julie Hernandez, of the Liberal Party for the Council Seat of Calionte, by a margin of 806 votes.

Machado received 213,404 to 212,598 for Hernandez, who conceded late Thursday night.

"This office is your office, the people of Calionte, whether Christian Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, Socialist, Progressive, or otherwise, I pledge to govern as your servant," Machado said in his victory speech in Cortes at 11:57 p.m. Striking a conciliatory tone, Machado continued, "I want to congratulate my opponent on a clean, respectful, and hard-fought campaign. I look forward to working with the Liberal Party in the coming years of my term."

The Michigonian Federal Council is made up of one Councillor from each of the six states, with one elected nationally. Each Councillor holds a seven year term, serving as President in the final year, with each seat rotating elections every year. Machado will assume the Presidency in 2024.

Machado campaigned on a message of continuity, pledging to continue to record of the popular outgoing Councillor, Carlos Torres. He also called for tougher measures to combat human and drug trafficking, issues which have come under the international spotlight over the past year. Hernandez struggled to differentiate her platform from Machado's, and tried to campaign on a positive message of economic and social liberalism.

In the National Assembly's special expansion election, the Liberal Party will maintain a plurality with 49 out of 150 seats, despite a splintering with the Progressive Party. Conservatives will likely remain in legislative coalition with the Liberals, slating 37 seats. The Christian Democrats will take over as the third largest party in the Assembly, with 25 seats, while Labour falls to fourth with 18. The Progressives will take 10, the Socialists 7, and for the first time since 1988 the Independence Party will seat 4.
