Missile Strikes Hit Grohand, Volkegothic Navy Retaliates

Today, September 28th, 2017, a Thunderbolt cruise missile struck the outskirts of Grohand, killing at least twenty-two civilians. This attack was launched from an Athara Magarati ship deployed to the Lotus Sea to fight the terrorist organization known as SHOCK. Shortly after, three Athara Magarati ships in the Lotus Sea were attacked by Volkegothic submarines, sinking two and damaging the third. According to the Ministry of the Navy, the ship responsible for the attack was withdrawn from the range of Volkegothic ships before retaliation could take place. Shortly after the retaliation was reported, Governor-General Hendriks released a video on uitvoerend.cr, in which he stated,
Hello, Volkegoth. I am bringing this video to you to discuss the measures that we are taking to respond to the deaths of our fellow citizens in Grohand. After the attack was reported, I ordered our fleet to hunt the remaining Athara Magarati ships in the Lotus Sea. We would be insane to leave the smallest of chances of another missile attack on our nation be. After this, I sent a formal Request of the Draft to the United Court, which was unanimously approved. I will say we will not be calling numbers for the draft until deemed necessary by a Declaration of War by the Floor of Marshals. It is unfortunate that this chain of events has come to be, and we're not even sure why the attack happened,
but the past is unchangeable. I will update you when information is available. Thank you for watching.

In the video, the Governor-General announced the early stages of the first military draft being called in recent history. He made it clear that the actual selection of draftees will not be if and when it is necessary. The tensions in the region are at an all-time high, and the future is unclear.

Baron Nicholas claims to be 'Heir Apparent of New Aapelistan'

SANTA MARIA, TRINIDAD- Today the Feast of Winter Harvest was celebrated in the Archduchy of Saloniki, the Principality of Trinidad and some parts of southern Arthedain. During the feast, which is a mix of native customs and Greek sacred rituals, as well as a catholic celebration people celebrate the start of a new era. During the celebrations however, a strange accident occurred as a man took the stage in Santa Maria, the capital of the Principality of Trinidad, and proclaimed an interesting, though confusing message.

The man, named Nicholas Alexander appeared to be a baron of a constituency in southern Saloniki and was completely surrounded by guards as he took the floor. The floor, which was meant for the musicians to play on, would have a much more loaded meaning this evening, the 29th of September:

Ladies and gentlemen, lords and ladies. Welcome to the Winter Harvest Feast here in Santa Maria. I know I might not be what you were expecting or hoping for, but I am not here without reason. During the Feast of Winter Harvest we proclaim the start of a new era, and that is exactly what I will do today, proclaim the start of a new era.

800 years ago, far away from Great-Imperialonia, or even Argus, in the year 1200 after the birth of the anointed Jesus Christ, son of God, who was brutally assassinated by his opponents, another person, just as powerful as the Christ was assassinated in New Aapelistan. Another son of gods, another anointed leader: Džéhar Nicholas I of the Holy Empire of Aprosians. Džéhar Nicholas, the lord with unlimited power. The Emperor with a spark of divine inside of him. The last Emperor of the true Aprosian faith. Since his assassination all Aprosians have been living in dispair, and after the vacuum of divine power, illegitimate republicans, and later communists claimed the holy land of Aprosians for themselves, in the understanding the imperial bloodline of Džéhar Nicholas I was forever lost, and the divine monarchy could never arise once again.

Honourable people, they were wrong. I stand here today before you, as Džéhar Nicholas II, from the exact same bloodline as the divine leader Nicholas once was. I stand here before you as Nicholas II, Prince of New Aapelistan and the rightful heir apparent to the Aapelistanian throne. I am here to fill the vacuum of power with another spark of divine, given to me by the same gods that watch and guide all Aprosians. Today, on this festival, I formally wish to introduce a new era, an era in which Aprosians no longer have to live in constant danger of communist oppression. An era in which New Aapelistan can be the thriving, friendly nation it once was. An era, in which the religion of our ancient ancestors is appreciated once more, and a time in which the Džéhar will rule New Aapelistan again as Emperor of Aprosians. An era in which he new monarchy will arise from the ashes of communism: the Empire of New Aapelistan.

After his statement Baron Nicholas Alexander received a loud applause from the people, they didn't even stop when he repeated his statement in Russian. Factcheckers immediately started researching and found there was indeed a brother of the last Džéhar, Emperor Nicholas I of Aprosians, who may have had a son, whose bloodline could eventually have ended in Baron Nicholas Alexander.

Besides his statement however, the festivities started again and people seemed to forget the interesting statement of the baron. However, in the late afternoon, Baron Nicholas Alexander was seen entering the Royal Palace of Santa Maria, where Prince Alloysius VII later confirmed his invitation to the baron. Besides this there was no official response from the government, nor were there comments on the incident by the New Aapelistanian media. Summarising, it has been a bizarre day of the Feast of Winter Harvest.

Border Fire Exchanged in Bellemon

It appears knights from Ridderkerk stormed the Clyfsike Castle, a fort that straddles the border between Bellemon and Ridderkerk. The castle, originally built in 1180 by the then Duke Alfwine, it was expanded by Ridderkerk in 1970, but then lost during the Succession Affair of 1973, when Prince Jean attempted to seize the throne. The King has reprimanded Ridderkerk, but the Peers and Lords, except Bellemon, remain silent. Though war is not desired, recapturing spoils of war is a legitimate casus belli, and is respected.

But now we will increase the Means of Production of Military Equipment so we can increase our amount of Military equipment, this will protect us from the futile attempts of other nations to attempt to reinstall a tyrannical democracy in our Nation, and another great thing about this is that it will create jobs which were taken away by the tyrannical former government"

O'Presco 'outragged' at exchange of fire - J.E.F. poised to respond

The Lanercost Times - 29nd September 2017
________________________________

Prime Minister Robyn O'Presco is said to be 'outraged' following news of the exchange of fire between Volkegoth and Athara Magarat.

An inside source has told the Lanercost Times that the Prime Minister is both 'mortified' and 'outraged' at the deaths of Volkegoth civilians and Athara Magaratian sailors.

Yesterday, 28th of September, Volkegoth naval forces carried out retaliation attacks against Athara Magarat, who stand accused of causing the deaths of 22 civilians.

The civilians are said to have been killed when Athara Magarat, who begun their 'War on Terror' only days ago, carried out missile strikes against targets in Grohand, Volkegoth.

Missiles were launched from an Athara Magarat vessel, operating off the coast of Volkegoth in the Lotus Sea, aiming to destroy and disrupt SHOCK cells operating in the country.

Independent sources state that 22 civilians were killed in the strikes and countless more were wounded and there has been no confirmation as to whether SHOCK operatives were amongst the dead.

In retaliation, Volkegoth launched undetected submarine strikes against the ships, sinking two and damaging another.

In a press conference this morning, the Prime Minister answered questions surrounding the incident, as well as other current affairs.

"We respect and applaud Athara's wish to combat SHOCK in the region, we are saddened to hear that the result of the first wave of strikes has led to the death of innocents on one side and patriots serving their country on the other."

"Whilst the death of so many civilians is deeply saddening and regrettable, the unwarranted strikes carried out by Volkegoth has led to the deaths of countless more."

"Even though we respect Volkegoth's wishes to defend its borders and the inevitable desire for revenge, we must strongly condemn these unfounded retaliatory strikes against our neighbour and ally - and demand that all the wounded and dead to be repatriated immediately."

When questioned on the response Albion was to make, the Defence Secretary Sir Timothy Walters, noted that the response would be swift.

"Already we are liaising with our Joint Expeditionary Force and Coalition of Six allies and will conduct medium-term operations shortly. However, in the immediate aftermath, we can confirm reports that the surviving Athara Magarat ship is now under Albionite escort back to friendly waters and that the severely wounded are being flown to specialist treatment centres in Albion and Covonant."

"We can already confirm that J.E.F. operations in the Mesder, following the hijacking of a Keomoran trade ship, will ramp up. We emplore our regional neighbours, whether allied or neutral, to join us in our efforts to provide the safety and protection that should be expected in international waters."

The Defense Secretary was then asked directly about eye-witness reports that several ships, including the Wellsian warship IWS Thunderer and the Albionite cruiser AINS Hearthwold, had departed the South Mesder and had entered the Amber Sea. Walters declined to comment stating that it was 'dangerous' to comment on possible current operations.

Video Posted of Schoolkid Getting ‘High’ on New Street Drug
Image

KABAR SAHARI - 29/09/2017, 17:38

A Video of a drugged schoolkid gone viral

SRIPURA, Kabar Sahari - Twitter user @makesamuderagreatagain recently uploaded a video depicting a school aged boy getting ‘high’ on a street drug. The video has been retweeted over 100,000 times, generating mostly negative response. A twitter user commented on the possibility of a new kind of drug creating this effect.

Another video apparently was uploaded to the video sharing service GoVideo who revealed an entire 5 minute video of the situation. Twitter user @makesamuderagreatagain stated that after being contacted by the KabarSahari team that he was indeed the person who had recorded the video.

“It was evening and I was sitting in a nearby cafe. I saw a boy passing in front of me acting mentally deranged with other people around beginning to yell the word ‘crazy’ at him. I immediately recorded the whole thing.”

According to him, it was a mystery as to what caused the boy to act like that

“It was the first time I’ve seen someone act like that. He was perhaps drunk, perhaps high, but what is for certain is that he fell to the ground and when the peoples tried to take him to hospital he became very agitated and tried to attack the good Samaritans.”

The bizarre situation has uncanny similarities to drugs that have recently been at Ahnslen drug festivals. The video @makesamuderagreatagain ended abruptly when the boy under the influence had faltered. The twitter user pointed out that the boy had loss consciousness after the video ended and notified us that it happened around three days ago in suburban Sripura.

Local police have begun to investigate the incident and the police have released that the boy is now in a medically induced coma to prevent any additional side effects.

Catholic church and prominent Imperialonian nobles back 'heir apparent of New Aapelistan' Džéhar Nicholas Alexander II

Yesterday Baron Nicholas Alexander officialy announced his claim on the Aprosian throne, leading to much confusion and interest. Nicholas had claimed to be the Džéhar of New Aapelistan by bloodline of the last ruling Emperor of Aprosians in the 1200's. His claim seemed far fetched and more as a joke for publicity, untill tonight. Cardinal Pius XIV of Santa Maria, the most powerfull religious leader of Great-Imperialonia publicly endorsed Baron Nicholas as heir apparent, stating he has had a message from God. This lead to a schock wave over the country, and many catholic nobles pledging their support, such as Prince Alloysius VII of Trinidad, one of the most powerfull nobles and prominent member of His Majesty's Privy Council.

Baron Nicholas Alexander, who claimed to be the Džéhar and faithfull leader of New Aapelistan received a lot of publicity yesterday, when delivering the strange statement claiming he was the chosen leader of Aprosians. He wasn't really taken seriously however, untill the statement of the Cardinal around 7 o'clock today. Cardinal Pius XVI, well known for being a hardliner catholic, came with a message for the whole world. His Eminence claimed to have had an enlighting dream last night, which repeated itself three times (a sign of God) in which an angel told him to help the honourable Baron Nicholas with his claim on the Aprosian throne. The Cardinal furtherly mentioned Nicholas Alexander would, if crowned the truthfull Emperor of Aprosians, lead not only the Aprosians and New Aapelistan, but the whole world towards a time of peace and prosperity.

Although his claim was largly critised by many secularists in Great-Imperialonia, a wavering amount of nobles decided to follow their cardinal in backing Nicholas as heir apparent of New Aapelistan. The most imporant of them being Lord Marcus Augustus, Baron of the city Corpus Christi, Lady Isis Fairglass, Countess of Seacliff (and ambassador to the League of the Western Isles) and most imporantly, Prince Alloysius VII of Trinidad, the Chief Executive of the populous region and prominent member of His Highness' Privy Council. Alloysius VII even said that '...the word of his eminence the Cardian and protector of the faith should never be questioned'. The claimed Džéhar, Nicholas himself, only released a short statement in which he ensured his claims on the Aprosian throne again, and urged the government of Great-Imperialonia to back him as well and support his claim.

It is unclear how this will influence the situation politically. Besides being a powerfull religious leader, Cardinal Pius XIV also appoints 57 of the 100 Senators for the First Estate, which gives him controll of 19% of the entire Upper House. He also has a lot of influence on the, also catholic Viceroy Melas II, who is the only person who can recognise or un-recognise nations. At the moment the United Socialist Republics of New Aapelistan is recognised by the Viceroy, and it remains hazy what his stance on this matter is.

Again there was no response from New Aapelistan. Will this truly be the start of a new era? How is the Imperialonian government responding to this pressure of the catholic Cardinal? We keep you posted.

|First Jimenean Presidential Debate|

|President Lucas Canone (CCP) and Confederate John Quinn (LPP)|

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, we are here in the State House in Gran Teran for the first debate between Confederate Quinn and President Canone. Both have already begun their campaigns across the nation and are now gathered here tonight for a direct confrontation. These two men will comment and address foreign happenings and those that are domestic here tonight. The moderator tonight will be John Brown Freeman of the Gran Teran Gazette. We will turn to him at this time while the candidates arrive.

Moderator: Good evening, please address your attention to the podium as the candidates make their way.

(Canone and Quinn walk towards the podium as they are met with applauds from the crowd. Both shake each other's hand as camera flashes fill the room, both giving a slight and gentle smile.)

Moderator: Thank you, the first topic of the debate will be the question of the proposal of the BOIS alliance and the further development of friendly relations. Confederate Quinn, what is your comment on the issue?

Quinn: Thank you, Mr. Freeman, I believe that a military alliance has been greatly needed for San Jimenez. If our country is to survive and prosper in the next few decades, we must be able to protect ourselves. The BOIS Alliance is a great step for Jimenean protection and the protection of its allies. To ensure the success of the alliance and to further our contribution to it, I believe we must have a strong representative there in its formation and I think Lucas Canone has failed to see that. The choice to have Patrick Meade, a religious fanatic and former pillar of the old theocracy, represent San Jimenez is, by far, a grave mistake. Jimeneans deserve to have a strong voice in perhaps one of the most important meetings in our history. A confident and experienced leader is what San Jimenez deserves for its representation in international affairs. When that is achieved, San Jimenez will be able to forge alliances that will be maintained by the will of the people.

Moderator: President Canone, care to respond?

Canone: Yes sir, I agree with Quinn that the BOIS Alliance is a great proposal. San Jimenez has prospered alongside allies such as Noronica, Ainslie, and Xrevaro not to mention Dragao do Mar and Verona Beach. To have a military alliance with two of these nations along with the Trultin Isles is a grand blessing for the nation of San Jimenez. However, I disagree with Quinn because I do believe that Patrick Meade is a fitting leader to represent San Jimenez. He has proven in the past to be an excellent politician with the people's will ahead of his own. That is what defines a leader, he who puts the people's will ahead of his own. The Jimenean people want friendly relationships, therefore, I am confident that because of our people's will, our nation will be able to embark as a nation of peace and protection.

Moderator: Any comment?

Quinn: Not at this time.

Moderator: Well then, our next topic is the state of the Jimenean Catholic Church and its boundaries. Confederate Quinn?

Quinn: The Church in San Jimenez is a grand institution no doubt, however, its power has reached a maximum in my opinion. Our government has now grown to be a mirror of the Catholic Church. The federal government has, several times, been delayed because of our unwillingness to disregard the church for the better development of our nation. If San Jimenez could adopt a more secular government then I fully believe that we will be able to prosper and finally be able to grow in economic and scientific wealth like other nations in the Isles. And referring back to relations with foreign governments, a secular government being in place would also allow for our country to better relate and act with other countries. The Jimenean Catholic Church is a great institution but its power needs to be limited.

Moderator: Response?

Canone: The institution is indeed great but its power should not be forced to be limited. The Church provides free healthcare to those who seek it, funds and operates charities for disasters here and abroad, and provides education for the majority of our country's youth. Why then should we limit its power when the church has dedicated and provided so much for the Jimenean people? Sir,
San Jimenez is, and for much of its history always has been, a Catholic nation with a devout population. Therefore, we as a government of the people ought to take that into consideration when making decisions. Our nation's spirituality should be our main source of pride, not our economics or militaristic power when compared to other nations. To remove the Catholic Church is to remove the pillars of our culture that have lasted for decades.

Quinn: If the church is such a blessing then tell me why one of its highest clergy members, Bishop Michael, was arrested and convicted for corruption? If you ask me, it seems that the Church has gained too much power and its highest members see themselves above the law. Its limitation in this country is a must.

Canone: Yes, a bishop did some illegal actions, yet should we condemn the entire church for those actions made by one person? The Church should be let alone and we should allow it to perform its actions without government interference.

Quinn: Mr. Canone, do you recall the Sudbury Conference? The Church dragged the Jimenean government into an avoidable situation with the government of Tectonix. Not only did it distract and halt our government here, it partially damaged the healing relationship with Tectonix. Also, note this, our people have gone to a foreign nation seeking an abortion. Why they do not seek here in San Jimenez is obvious, they can't. The Church is limiting our people's freedom in the country. If you can not see the reasons for the Church's limitations then you must re-evaluate this whole situation.

Canone: At the time of the situation, the Church addressed the situation to the public, it was the people spectating and the followers if the Church, most of our citizens, who endorsed government action to be taken. I have exclaimed this statement more than once, it is up to our government to represent the will of our people, if our people demand quick action then we are therefore required to take action. As for abortion, our people have shown resentment towards abortion when it was voted upon many years ago, the morals of our people do not align with that of abortion. I, as a leader, choose to let the people evaluate these decisions, which I will then act upon.

Moderator: Gentlemen, that is all the time we have for that question. Our next and final question is how you will manage to keep San Jimenez secure. Confederate Quinn, your statement?

Quinn: I am confident that San Jimenez will remain secure as long as we keep relations high with fellow nations and manage to create and maintain a military alliance. We must be able to cooperate and reform so that we may be able to better relate and develop alongside other nations of the Isles. The BOIS Alliance has also shown great potential for Jimenean security and I urge Jimeneans to support the movement.

Canone: That statement has incredible potential yet it is missing an important factor, creating a strong and reliable military. At this very moment, our military is in a weak state. Our government and people must be willing to strive for a powerful military that can defend our island from foreign and domestic enemies. After a strong military is made, we will be able to defend our allies as well. We, as a nation, can not rely on others for defense if we are to prosper. San Jimenez must develop a steady military.

Moderator: Thank you both, you may give your final statements before we conclude this debate.

Quinn: Citizens of San Jimenez, as your president, I will bring the awaited change that you have all been longing for. The LPP will provide stability, freedom, and progress for San Jimenez. I promise to represent San Jimenez wholeheartedly and work to make our nation a contributing factor for the stability, freedom, and progress of The Western Isles just as well. Cast your vote for Quinn and you will cast your vote for a stronger and brighter future for San Jimenez and The Western Isles!

Canone: My fellow countrymen, San Jimenez has progressed greatly for the past years, I promise that if elected, I will uphold the traditions and cultural identity of our grand nation. I will restore the glory of our country and will work to represent the Jimenean people to the best of my ability. I will put our Jimenean values forth when making decisions regarding our country. So I say to you, go now and vote for who you want to represent you, the people. The future and direction of our country is now in your hands.

Moderator: Thank you, gentlemen, and thank you all for listening here tonight! This concludes our First Jimenean Debate. Have a blessed and peaceful night!

Bhikkustani refugees attacked across Lardingo
September 30th 2017
Crystal City, Lardingo

A family of eight Bhikkustani refugees were attacked by an angry mob outside their apartment complex on the outskirts of Crystal City, a few miles away from the house of a suspect who was arrested in connection with the Executive 1 shootings. The mob, made up of about thirty people, swarmed the group of refugees while they were leaving their apartment. According to witnesses the mob appeared from the side of the building as if they where waiting for the family, and knocked the refugees over onto the ground. They then started to attack the family with various sharp objects. Bystanders attempted to pull the mob off of the family. A man with a rifle arrived and fired shots over the heads of the mob, which quickly dispersed. Cops arrived a few minutes later and arrested some members of the mob. The apartment in question has been used by the government as an initial housing facility while the refugees are being fully processed.

There have been dozens of complaints filed with DOLE and local police by various Bhikkustanis claiming that they have been attacked, robbed, cursed at, and even had grenades thrown at their home. There have been hundreds of anti-SHOCK protests throughout Lardingo, but some have also been aimed at Bhikkustanis.

Chief Executive Renolds has issued a statement from the hospital urging calm and making a plea for the violence to stop. An excerpt from her statement says: "Let's not blame the hate of one individual on tens of thousands of innocents" Renolds has endured a lot of criticism the past few days despite being inured during the attack. The Bhikkustani refugee who is suspected of shooting at Renolds and multiple members of COA was admitted to Lardingo under Renolds's watch. The Chief Executive and her administration had assured Lardians that every refugee was thoroughly vetted before being accepted.

Doman Scientists Lead Four Passages Deep Sea Expedition

For several years there has been evidence of a Hydro thermal vent field within the Four Passages Sea. Millions of years ago, the four islands were once connected by a massive volcano called Xsecru'ds (Mt. Starlight by doman scientists) that erupted and obliterated. Letting in massive amounts of sea water and creating the foundation for the islands today. Millions of years later, some Hydrothermal vents have survived and have yet to be officially documented by devices other than some patchy deep sea probes.

For the last five years, the Doman government has been constructing and outfitting a manned submarine to dive down deep and release a small robotic craft to further document the vents. The Submarine dubbed Xe Retq; "Sea Lady" will dive to approximately 800 meters and then release Tuoac; "Diver" down to 1000 meters and then record the findings on board. While "Diver" is exploring, the sub will explore the area for any other sea life.

Image
Model of "Sea Lady" and the interior

This expedition will not be a Doman only feat. Invitations have been sent to the governments and scientific communities of Rejected Regents, and Shanowinn to be joined on this expedition. Should they chose to send a team, they will receive all notes and data to be researched back home. This is an achievement for all people of the Four Passages. The transport ship for this expedition will hold up to 40 people onboard, while "Sea Lady" will take the top three scientists, one from each nation, and explore the depths.

The expedition will be launched within a week of receiving the team of scientists.

Casualties of Athara Magarati Strike Identified, SHOCK Not Among Dead

The casualties of the Athara Magarati strike a few days ago have all been identified by the Grohand City Hospital and the names of the dead were announced in a press conference earlier today. The following is a script of the script the Hospital Director Roger Bullens before the Q&A segment of the conference
Grohand City Hospital has identified all of the casualties of the strike and can confirm beyond a reasonable doubt that none of the dead were associates of SHOCK or any other terror groups. The strike resulted in the deaths of two elderly citizens and one child at the age of eleven. Of the thirty wounded, we have released half while five remain in critical condition. We do expect ten of the wounded to be released from the hospital within the next week. We at Grohand City Hospital stand in solidarity with our fellow Volkegoths and the families of the dead in this time of mourning.

This news comes as Albion Invicta condemns Volkegoth retaliation in the Lotus Sea which resulted in the sinking of two Athara Magarati ships. Many politicians have come out claiming the retaliation to be further legitimized by this information, with Chairman Maikel Boerefijn of the NGP among them. "This is abhorrent," the Chairman said when questioned by a reporter, "not only did Athara Magarat launch an unprovoked strike on a civilian population, but the strike only killed civilians? I'm glad the retaliation was successful, and commend the Governor-General for making that call."

Gov-Gen Popularity Sharply Declines, New Poll Shows

A new poll taken by National Report was released yesterday, and its results show a sharp decline in popularity of Governor-General Hendriks and the Civil Libertarian Party as a whole. The poll results can be found here:

Do you approve of Gov-Gen. Hendriks?
39% Yes 57% No 4% Neutral

Do you approve of the Congress?
33% Yes 47% No20 % Neutral

Do you approve of the Civil Libertarian Party?
29% Yes 41% No 30% Neutral

Do you approve of the Christian Democrats of Volkegoth?
40% Yes 32% No 28% Neutral

Do you approve of the National Volkegoth Party?
30% Yes 40% No 30% Neutral

This differs greatly from the poll taken a month ago, which can be found here:

Do you approve of Gov-Gen. Hendriks?
47% Yes 50% No 3% Neutral

Do you approve of the Congress?
39% Yes 44% No 17 % Neutral

Do you approve of the Civil Libertarian Party?
35% Yes 37% No 28% Neutral

Do you approve of the Christian Democrats of Volkegoth?
34% Yes 32% No 35% Neutral

Do you approve of the National Volkegoth Party?
29% Yes 40% No 31% Neutral

This is a major shift in the political climate of Volkegoth in such a short span of time. The approval rating of the Christian Democrats has skyrocketed while the Civil Libertarians have a steep decline in approval. One responder to the survey was a former Civil Libertarian campaigner in his local district, who has since joined the Christian Democrats, and when questioned said,
I joined the Christian Democrats because I am disappointed in Governor-General Hendriks. I campaigned for him, donated my money to his campaign, and voted for him. He promised isolationism and effective diplomacy, which the South Mesder Crisis and the Grohand Stike clearly proved otherwise. My breaking point, however, lied in Congress. The Civil Libertarians failed to hold Hendriks accountable and followed his idiotic lead instead. I feel that most of the people who have leaned to the Christian Democrats instead of the Civil Libertarians feel the same way. I hope Hendriks can change his ways, though I doubt that will happen.

With the Christian Democrats being the only party with a net positive approval rating according to the poll, the Civil Libertarians appear to be in deep trouble if this pattern keeps up to the 2020 election. Rumors of an Aaldenberg re-run for the Governor-Generalship are being spread throughout Volkegoth, and Aaldenberg himself teases at its possibility. WHen reached out for comment, Governor-General Hendriks declined.

San Montagna to Ferry refugees to Athara Magarat

In a move meant to appease the international Community as well as Removing the Refugees from San Montagna, Benito Franco Announced that it will begin ferrying Bhikkustani Refugees to Athara Magarat, a nation that has made it clear that they welcome Refugees. Benito Spoke about this to the media, saying:

"We want to work with the International Community, unfortunately, this means doing a few things we do not agree on to appease them, So this should be a step in the right direction to Working with them. But be warned, if any Treaty, Coalition or Nation attempts to make us do something that ruins our pride, they will be annihilated"

This Comes after many Nations have accused San Montagna of Human rights violations and of Racism. The Plan of the Ferrying is too bring the 10 000 refugees from the Shores of San Montagna to Athara Magarat. We Spoke with Bonnuci Benzina, a Naval Officer who is helping coordinated the transportation of the Refugees:

"Currently all Refugees are being brought by boat to Athara Magarat, the Closest Nation who is Accpeting Refugees, However, we are working on a system so that Refugees families that can bring forward enough money can be brought to countries that are well, Less Sh*t, such as Verona Beach or Atnaia."

The Ahernry Ends--Karolíne Elected as President of the Owinn Republic!

Following the expectations of many Owinns, candidate Karolíne Catrín Faoláin assumes the position of President of the new Republic of Shanowinn. The New Shanowinn Republican Party (NSRP) kept is lead in the elections so that Shanowinn would restructure itself into a Republic rather than retaining the traditional Ahernric system.

Voters streamed into polling stations across lowland Shanowinn. The turnout was high, as voters were optimistic about the future of Shanowinn, and putting the female candidate in office.

The new President has already made promises that she will improve Shanowinn's image in the wake of the previous leader, Chulainn NaAchill. In her words, NaAchill was "a disgrace" to Shanowinn and "damaged our image." She intends to allow Owinn elements to participate in geothermal research in the Four Passages, as well as renew or build relationships across the Isles.

During her stint as provisional leader of Shanowinn, Faoláin stored up a quantity of issues that she promised to address only if she became President.
Now that her presidency is a reality, she is pressured to act, rather than promise. She states that she hopes to speak with the Highland Republican President Tadhg Dúney, and pursue many other reforms.

DOMESTIC: Mother's plea moves nation
Highland Ridge, AInslie

Janine Revire has paid a price not many of us will, or should. She appeared outside of the Electoral Court of Wesland today, shouting at its doors. A media presence began as she turned around and told her story to them. The government soon worked out what was going on and Thomas Wilton was flown to Highland Ridge to meet Janine. He expressed his condolences and ushered her into the courts. A few hours later the two emerged again, offering the press more definite statements.

Revire stood behind the quickly placed lecturn and began to read off of some sheets below her.

“We cannot stand for this. I have lost my dear Jennifer to something our government isn’t quite sure about! The Courts and the Government need to get this right. The immense pain I have felt should not happen to anyone else. The government needs to step up, find my family justice. Find whoever took Jennifer away from us way too early.”

Wilton, obviously moved and taking deep breaths after the meeting spoke quietly at first and then began to project his voice.

“I am heartbroken at the story Mrs Revire has presented to me in the courthouse in front of us . Justice needs to happen and I will immediately order an investigation to be opened into this incident. It appears that this is a new drug which her daughter has so tragically passed away because of. Our medical professionals and police will do whatever they can to ease the burden on you and your family, Mrs Revire. The nation’s heart is heavy as we attempt to at least understand some of what you are going though. We are a resolute and determined people.Let this Ahnslen determination produce the closure that we all are so hopeful and passionate to get for this mother and her family. They have went through too much already, and there is no way they should have to go through more.”

He then nodded and shook her head before the both of them walked back into the courthouse. In an awkward turn of events, just as the conference finished the police chief for Highland Ridge arrived. The Wesland Electoral Court in Highland Ridge will remain closed for the rest of the day as discussions continue and the search for a more appropriate logistical headquarters for the investigation is found.

More updates as they arise.

INTERNATIONAL: Live Blog: Keveran Elections - Renaut expected to win
Hauton, Ainslie with Southport, Keverai

Image

Arae and welcome back to our readers here in Ainslie and throughout the Isles. You are viewing Arendai International’s coverage of the Keveran Election. I am Steve Katararn and with me are Hudson Lekara, a political analyst from the Alliance of Centres for International Studies, Emily Revenne from the Argus Committee, a government think tank, Julia Setara from the Keveran Observer and lastly James Baxter, Chief of the International Politics bureau here at Arendai International. Renaut’s Party for International Progress is expected to win now, with 11 out of 17 of the divisions going to the party. So, let's begin the conversation.

The views of the guests and employees do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the network or its employees as a whole. This is an excerpt from a recent conversation on the live blog

SK: Don't let the dark blue fool you… that seems to be the strong message resonating from these elections.

JB: Most definitely. To people not so informed about Keveran elections, that would look like a landslide victory for the Argus Conservatives.

HL: The reality couldn't be further away… This is a shocking loss for the Conservatives, whose rhetoric was not received well by suburbia. This is really a win for suburbia, with the city centres and rural areas being almost embarrassed by them.

ER: Yeah, the dark blue Argus Conservatives have received a lot of electoral divisions that were not expected whilst losing many areas to the light blue Party for International Progress (PIP). The Party for Moral Alignment and National Enlightenment (PMANE) have done a great job capturing that division in Hintere, centred on the township of Hivere.

SK: What do you believe were the major causes of these results, and how would they affect Jinlongian-Keveran relations?

LK: I think the major point of Renaut’s victory actually comes from the very poor campaign the Conservatives ran this election. Of course, we have to factor in Renaut’s excellent strategy. 7 days isn’t a long time to debate, to discuss and to win hearts and minds but for those three days everyone was talking about Renaut. Those three days, I bet you were the ones that helped PIP voters to decide that Renaut was the right person to lead the nation.

Back to the conservatives though, I visited Keverai a few days ago and it really seemed that the Argus Conservatives were running a ‘PMANE lite’ campaign.

ER: Yeah, I was also in Kevera and it really seemed that the Conservatives were running on PMANE rhetoric but less extreme and with more a ‘we are the guiding hand’ idea. I think this election has really highlighted that Keverans can spot a fake, and that’s why many people I believe switched to PIP.

HL: I think it’s important to highlight that PIP isn’t too far away from the traditional Conservative values that formed the voter base that won them the last election four years ago. It’s the fact that they have picked up the centre-right values they have and mixed them with the far right that has really alienated the voters this year.

LK: Congratulations to Renaut on being able to round up that traditional Conservative voter base and mould it to the PIP’s perspective.

SK: Is the conservative base that strong to hand the PIP the consulship?

HL: We must also highlight that suburbia has really listened to Renaut’s campaign of hope and future mindedness. It’s this voter base, the young and inspired Keverans combined with the Conservative base which gave PIP their consulship.

SK: So how did the media get it wrong? How did Clavere not win?”

LK: Local media was not reporting it as Clavere winning outright - they were stating that this election will probably be close and Clavere will end up getting it. Along the chain of communication though, important information can be lost and I think this is where the error occurred. Most divisions were only recording leads of around 3% with a margin of error of +-4%, leaving the election’s results wide open.

SK: And back to Jinlong. How will PIP view Jinlong and how will they adjust Keveran policy to the nation?

ER: The PIP need to be careful not to alienate the conservatives whilst catering to their young, inspired voter base which comes time and time again to vote for them. I think they’ll take a more measured approach to Jinlong in comparison to Durpois’ plan to join MSTO and surrender their sovereignty. Clavere proposed that the nation should double their military presence on the border with Jinlong. Renaut proposes a more moderate approach to it.
HL: I don’t think we’ll see much change in Keveran policy unless something more extreme happens on the northern side of the border.

SK: Would you call this election one fuelled by populism?

JB: No, certainly not. The very nature of Keverai means that there is not much populism in the first place. The meritocratic nature of the society and the Keveran Judicial Council’s selection of candidates eliminates that.

SK: Moving along, when shall we be expecting now Consul-Elect Renaut to be sworn in.

JS: That will most likely happen in the coming days, with Renaut being sworn in by the leader of the Judicial Council in the Palai dand Independere.

SK: Thank you guests. Just an update on the elections before we leave you for half an hour, Renaut’s Party for International Progress has taken 11 seats, Clavere’s Argus Conservatives at 5 and Durpois’ Party for Moral Alignment and National Enlightenment with one seat. Renaut has been named Consul-Elect in the past few minutes, and we will cross to the Kevera Convention Centre where he will have his speech when we are notified of its time. We will return in half an hour and we will be discussing the history of Renaut’s party, who for the first time in two decades have received the Consulship. See you then.

'Ax the Tax' March successful.

Image
A few men holding the protest slogan.

Today, the streets near Parliament, and around the nation, were filled with demonstrators protesting the high income tax rate imposed on them. The 92% tax has stripped many of their gross pay, and has led to what many call "stuffing the pockets". Angry chants of the protest's slogan - Ax the Tax - were heard, along with other chants calling for the end to the leftist government. Many Conservative Bloc MP's even left Parliament to join the protesters. Police say that no one was arrested, but several fined for destroying city property.
President Contie defended the high tax rate at his press conference, and he also called for calm on the issue.
"The high tax rate, these protesters are talking about, funds the schools, the hospitals, the roads, the nation. It also provides this government with a fair 'rainy day fund' for recessions. Whilst conservatives are talking about lowering the tax, think about what budget cuts would do to your family - or you."

The Conservative Bloc leader did not respond to any calls for a response to the President's comments. However, several Conservative Bloc MP's, that stayed in Parliament, voiced their disgust on their social media platforms. One even went so far as to use it as a mandate for the Conservative Bloc to win the presidency.

THE EALDWIC DAILY NEWS

Blessed evening ladies and gentlemen;
This is a special report concerning the increase in tension in the South Mesder Sea. Our illustrious and gallant ally Athra Magarat attacked SHOCK military bases being protected by the nation of Volkegoth. These accurate missle attacks hit only SHOCK bases killing a number of terrorist. The Volkegothic government in order to justify its cowardly attack on the Athra Magarati flotilla claims that those killed were not SHOCK members, but civilians. The Council of 104 has declared these claims to be false and is going to assist our close ally and friend Albion Invicitica to deal with these underwater pirates.
As many remember just days ago this same terrorist organization started a fire in the Port that destroyed billions of scales worth of property and took dozens of lives. With this in mind the Admiralty has been given the green light by the Council and confirmed by the Suffet to dispatch what ever naval forces are needed to ensure the safety of our allies and shipping lanes.
The Admiralty has created two temporary commands, Force A, to operate in the South Mesder and Amber Seas and Force N to operate east of the Kuria Islands in the North Mesder. Force A is by far the largest and most powerful of the two commands and will consist of not only the 1st class ship IWS Thunderer, which is already operating with the Albionite Fleet, but will also include the fleet carrier IWS Victorious and the Anti-submarine ship, IWS Vindicator. the two ships will be escorted by the IWS Marksman, two frigates and three corvettes, as well as a fleet supply ship. We have been informed that Senior Flag-officer Vincent Halfhyde, upon his own request has taken a reduction in rank to Flag-officer to command Force A. He will fly his flag on the Vindicator till joining the IWS Thunderer, and then it will become his flagship. Upon asking why he would take a reduction in rank, Flag-officer Halfhyde claimed he wanted to make sure that he was of junior rank to the Albionite Admiral commanding the joint fleet. This is an Albionite command and the Imperial fleet is here to assist.
Force N is being formed from ships already part of the Eastern Fleet, stationed at Kuria and it will include one third class ship and three corvettes/sloops as escort. The rest of the Eastern Fleet has been put on partial alert to reinforce the patrol if needed.
We must pray for our brave sailors as they head into the potential of combat, we know that they will overcome any adversity and destroy any Volkegothic ships that are foolish enough to challenge our fleet.
Have a blessed night.

Covonantian International Development Fund to extend loan agreement to Xrevaro

Image

The Chief Financial Officer of the Covonantian International Development Fund (CIDF), Mr. Simon Stewart has expressed the FUNDs intention on extending loan agreement to Xrevaro. Talks of prospective loan agreement came about following the devastative natural disasters that have been plaguing the country. Mr. Stewart express that the country is on the brink of economic collapse.

Image

The Chief Minister responsible for Finance of Xrevaro has approached the FUND with the purpose of gaining financial support for the country, and the FUND reviewing the economic landscape of the country observes that it is in fact nearing economic collapse, and will be looking to establish an emergency fund to assist the critical needs of the country.

Mr. Stewart notes that Xrevaran government will have to implement policies to drive growth. He express presently the country is moving slow in that area.

The FUND needs to be assured that borrowing states are in the position to pay back on their loans as donor nations are looking to make a return on the amount they give to the FUND yearly. Xrevaro shows the ability to raise its revenue intake but current policies in place have retarded their progress. In meeting with the representative of the Xrevaran government, the FUND made it clear that government policies would have to change. One major change we stressed on is the need to transform the economic sector by placing greater focus on divesting any and all state ownded entity and liberalise more the economy. The government needs to find a way to attract investment while at the same time making it easier for foreigners and locals to do business in the country. Tax reform is another issue which the government will have to do. We are advising an increase in the percentage of taxation on the public but we are mindful of the need to attract investors so we called for a minimal increase on corporate tax

Mr. Stewart also expressed that the government will have to cut its spending and balance its budgetary expenses more economically.

Certainly a country that is struggling financially will have to make cut backs. We expressed that to the Xrevaran government that certain areas will need to see a reduction in how much they receive in government support. Also the FUND will be monitoring closely how the government spends and accumulates revenue and that would determine if they are allowed to access any more of the stipulated funds

He notes that the CIDF has pledge $1.8 billion dollars in a loan package for the Xrevaran government.

We have produced a loan agreement of $1.8 billion to provide the Xrevaran government with the $800 million serving as the emergency fund for the Xrevaran government to access at anytime they please but the $1 billion will be disbursed in stages at the discretion of the FUND provided we see the Xrevaran government adhering to FUND terms and making good on those terms. Also technical support will be granted. Donor nations also play a roll. For instance Covonant will look to assist in aiding the government when the time comes to review and improve their system of taxation.

A team from the CIDF is expected to visit Xrevaro tomorrow to finalise more with the Xrevaran government.

Covonantian International Development Fund pleased with Euranian economic progress, calls for immediate tax reforms

Image

CIDF representative to Eurania Mr. Eugene Ignacia is expressing pleasure with the level of progress made in the Euranian economy. Mr. Ignacia was speaking at a press briefing at the National Economic Council of Eurania.

We at the CIDF are very pleased with the level of progress that has been made in the economy of Eurania. We see where the wheels of growth are beginning to turn. Debt to GDP ratio is decreasing and we attribute this to the government making a strong commitment to balance its budget and to cut on unnecessary spending. Also we have witnessed an increase in consumers confidence in the market. We note that though progress have been made, there has been shortfalls and areas which the Euranian government is moving slow in implementing.

Mr. Ignacia notes that the Euranian government is showing little interest in tax reform and its public sector transformation. He expressed that Eurania has the potential to grow even more but these issues stands as hindrance.

Eurania has the ability to grow faster but capitalistic policies are still lacking in the country. We implore the government to continue aggressively to liberalise the economy. We also can't stress enough that tax reform is needed immediately. We note that the government stands to gain more with a structured tax code in place. We also advise the government to introduce a General Consumption Tax (GCT) on consumer items or a Value Added Tax (VAT) to allow for the government to earn more in its revenue collection. We also call for greater efforts to transform the public sector. The Euranian government has too many persons employed in the public sector and the CIDF believes it necessary to make jobs that are bureaucratic or unnecessary to the government be made redundant.

Mr. Ignacia expressed that the CIDF will allow for the Euranian government to access the $150 million dollars under the loan agreement signed for phase 2 of the agreement starting tomorrow.

Foreign Minister blast Volkegoth for attack on Athara Magarati vessels, pledges Covonant to support "war on terror" campaign

Image

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lydia Abbasca has blasted the Volkegothan military and government for what she called unnecessary escalation of war games. She expressed that Volkegoth did little to deescalate the situation and notes that Covonant will not tolerate aggressive behaviour towards its allies. Mrs. Abbasca was speaking in the Consul on Friday.

We condemn the actions of the Volkegothan military for their rash and illogical attack on Athara Magarati vessels in the Lotus Sea. Athara Magarat stands as ally to the Union and such attacks will not be tolerated. We are demanding an apology from the Volkegotha government and demand that the government provide reparation to the Athara Magarati government for the damages to the countries vessels

Mrs. Abbasca went further in calling on the C6 to respond, and notes that Covonant will be collaborating with its allies in the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) to respond to the incident.

Opposition Spokesman on Defense Batiatus Sula was however disturbed with the government's one sided approach to the conflict.

This government has shown that it is not impartial. The open bias displayed makes me wonder if Covonant wants a war. I would believe it better for the foreign minister to use diplomacy to quell the flames rather than add more fuel to it. The Athara Magaratis, ally or not, were wrong in this instance and in fact should be the one to apologise and pay reparation to the Volkegoth government. If the table were turned and a foreign country was to attack Covonant, I don't believe our response would have been different from that of the Volkegothans.

Political Commentator Mikael Stokes in a panel discussion on CBC Consul expressed that the government's assessment was wrong.

I think it is asinine to say the least for the Foreign Minister to ask a country that was attacked to apologize for retaliating. This government is showing that they don't understand diplomacy and international norms. Athara Magarat was wrong and this government in their support of the country is causing it to stir up more problems. Someone needs to tell the Athara Magaratis to stop being so careless in their actions.

Minister Abbasca has also came out in support of Athara Magarat's "war on terror" campaign. She notes that it is time the country begins to combat its ills.

Covonant supports Athara Magarat on her quest to combat terrorism. Shock and Soar and other terrorist groups must not be given any safe haven anywhere and regional governments should make a concerted effort to weeding them out.

She notes that in the coming days the Cabinet plans to release its government policy through the Defense Ministry on the country's approach to terrorist groups and organisations.

Foreign Minister "Covonant border policy to be updated", process to be made strong

Image

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lydia Abbasca has announced that Covonant's border policy is being reviewed and should be updated before the end of the week. Minister Abbasca speaking to the CBC at the Foreign Ministry notes that the process is to be improved.

Covonant border policies are not that strong compared to other developed states in the region. We note however that the previous administration had started the process with the creating of the Travel Authority and Immigration Agency but we notice many flaws in that system and plans to improve it and expand on it.

The Minister expressed that the new system is to make travelling to Covonant easier for foreigners while being proactive in keeping certain persons out.

The system is in need of great updating as we have received many reports of challenges persons have in trying to come to Covonant and also of persons looking to secure Covonantian visas. We want to make that process smoother and better and we also need to revise our Visa and Immigrations at our embassies overseas. We are not looking to make travelling to Covonant a hard process we want it to be smooth for those taking the legal routes to come here but we also need to ensure structures are in place to keep certain people out.

Minister Abbasca notes that she intends to report to the Consul once the new system has been updated before the end of the week.

Cooperative Union still missing Trades Board, plans for Union wide Health Organisation

Image

It has been over three months since the Cooperative Union (CU) signed into law for the creation of the Cooperative Union Trade Board (CUTB). Three months later however and the CU is still without a Unionised Trade Organisation. The CBC spoke with Chief Admissions Officer to the CU and Tectonixian representative to the CU Mr. Daniel Entemont. Mr. Entemont expressed that the CU is looking to form the Trade Board sometimes this month but few issues needs to be addressed before.

Image

At present the resolution is in place and is active but is unenforceable as there is no entity to enforce it. This is not an indication that the CU has forgotten about it but certain issues needs to be clarified before it can be established such as how we intend going by the resolution to have the CUTB be expansive and we also have to look into national trade laws of CU member states and how it can be incorporated to reflect a union wide trade law in our attempts to harmonise trade. Another issue that the members of the Chamber has yet to agree on is where the CUTB will be headquartered. We have two areas of the CU that we are looking at and these are either Noronica or West Suomi

Mr. Entemont also expressed that the CU has also created its union wide health policy with a organisation to oversee its implementation.

While we look to enforce our trade priorities we are also looking to harmonise our health policies. Though few members of the CU were non-supportive of harmonised health policies the CU believes it in our best interest to embark on that path. I was more so surprised that among the states that showed resistance to the union wide health organisation was Covonant, noting that it was the first country to break CU laws without consulting CU member states. The new health resolution which has been passed and the health organisation should be established this month as well as to ensure that CU states policies on health are harmonised. We are fully intent on having that arm of the CU established but just as with the CUTB few issues have to be addressed, but minor issues that would not see any hindrance to them being formed momentarily.

Defense Minister: San Montagna fascism will not be tolerated in the Mesder, calls for democracy to be reinstilled

Image

Minister of Defense Crixus Ignacio is expressing the Ministry's resolute that fascism must not survive in the Mesder. He notes that San Montagna poses great threats to the peace and stability of the Mesder and Covonant will not tolerate its presence. The Minister was speaking in the Consul on Friday.

Covonant has great threats which we will have to confront head on. Terrorism, agressive states, and fascism. All sadly in the Mesder and too close to home. We must not get comfortable having these threats around but make it our moral responsibility to get rid of them. Covonant has embarked on a policy throughout the centuries of ensuring that democracy is the order of the day in the Mesder and we have been successful at that until now. With the military coup that overthrew the legitimate government of San Montagna, we see a illogical dictator assume control of the island. Already he stands to destabilise the sub-region. This will not be tolerated by us.

Minister Ignacio notes that the Covonantian government is charged to see the state fail and will do all in its power to destabilise it.

We are adamant that that state will not survive, its presence poses great threats to the Union and our allies. While we focus on the east we must not forget to focus closer at home. Following a meeting at Cabinet it was expressed as the Union of Covonant Government making it our duty to ensure that San Montagna collapse, and it is a policy that we intend to include our partners and allies around the region.

The Minister notes that the Ministry will be expanded and reviewing the country's Military policy to take a strategic approach towards San Montagna. He expressed that the C6 and JEF will be paramount to its implementation.

DO REMEMBER THIS IS THE CBC

The strange case of Ludo Bahadur Dura

Image
Lieutenant Ludo Bahadur Dura admitted responsibility for the missile attack in Volkegoth before breaking down into tears.

NEW LIBANG

After two days of intense interrogation of the crew of the Kumal, the specialized missile ship that fired the Thunderbolt into Grohand, Volkegoth, Lieutenant Ludo Bahadur Dura confessed to have been working with and then against SHOCK and admitted all responsibility for the whole tragedy that resulted in the deaths of 22 Volkegothic citizens and estimated 30-35 [the Kuunsrach has been silent on the numbers] Athara Magarati sailors.

"I had a half-sister that nobody outside my family knew of. She was radicalized. She went to Arván, they said. Bastards knew how to contact me without being traced and I was told to follow a few tasks if I wanted to see her or my father who lives in our village home alone, ever again. I was told a month ago to carry this out or else consider my sister and father gone. I was to launch an attack on a military ship of one of the Kuunsrach's allied nations to create tensions and keep the government busy...for those sick bastards in SHOCK."

"When I did not comply, I received words a week ago that my father had died in our village home...murdered by the wolves. It was then that I had a monster inside me - the White Tigress. The monster knew that my sister had probably killed in the Arván months ago, either by the allied occupation forces or the sick bastards themselves. And the White Tigress inside me wanted to see those SHOCK bastards dead. Our mission was to search for the SHOCK-hijacked Keomoran civilian ship Kai Tang. I had did my own independent investigation and the darned ship was last seen in Volkegoth. Some of my friends did an investigation of their own and we managed to pinpoint the location of a SHOCK hideout in Grohand, Volkegoth. I know, we all Athara Magaratis know, what the foreigners think. They think Athara Magarat is infested with SHOCK, which is not true. The clever bastards have spread everywhere while giving the impression that they are present only in Athara Magarat, Arván or San Montagna."

"I tried to secretly talk to the Kumal's captain, Commander Elam Lingden, of what I intended to do. When he refused, overpowered him and fired the missile anyway. At first, I felt relieved. I thought I had finally taken revenge on the cold-blooded bastards. I think I killed at least a dozen of them...Then the troubling news came. The missile strike had also resulted in civilian deaths...innocent people had died from my actions. And then the Volkegothic Navy attacked us; destroying the Chepang and the Thakali while the Kumal, the ship that I was on, was heavily damaged. The Tamu was lucky to have escaped the battle unscathed. After that I started having nightmares in broad daylight. And when the Armed Police Force and the higher-ups brought the special interrogators, I gave in...I am sorry to my nation...I am sorry to Volkegoth and all the families of my innocent victims...I am sorry to the families of my comrades...but...but I still believe I was not wrong. The White Tigress awoke in me and I decide to coldly dirty my hands with blood in order to remove SHOCK...Our nation must take the mantle of the White Tigress to combat these sick bastards who claim they are following orders of the Yellow Dragon...Our nation needs to rise and show the world..."

"I am sorry for all those other deaths but they were the necessary evil to destroy SHOCK. Execute me, imprison me, torture me, do what you all want. But our nation will not be able to beat SHOCK unless we awaken the sleeping beast."

The wailing man was then carried away by heavily armored Armed Police Force personals in the live news feed.

J.E.F. calls for restraint over Athara Magarat-Volkegoth spat - insists on public enquiry

The Lanercost Times - 2nd October 2017
________________________________

Albion's most senior representative in the Joint Expeditionary Force, calls for Athara Magarat to hold a public enquiry over deaths of Volkegoth civilians.

The highest ranking official in the Albion-led Joint Expeditionary Force has released a statement on behalf of the organisation, following the events in the South Mesder and Lotus Seas.

A spokesman for the organisation, Major Samantha Barks, spoke outside the J.E.F. headquarters in Lanercost, after a day of talks held by the representatives of each member of the J.E.F.

"Whilst we continue to state our remorse for the deaths of both Volkegoth and Athara Magarat citizens, it was important for the members of the Joint Expeditionary Force to remain calm and move towards resolving the tensions between the opposing nations."

"As we have always stated - the J.E.F. did not aim to provoke, agitate or further escalate tensions in the region. It was clear from the beginning that the deaths of civilians carried out by member states would not be tolerated, as well as acts of revenge against our allies."

"In a bid to move towards resolving this matter, the member states of the J.E.F. have all expressed wishes to investigate the events that led up to and following the actions carried out by the Athara Magarat vessels and its crew. Regrettably, following the retaliation and loss of both crew and ships, that will make the matter much harder to find answers for."

"Regardless, we believe that a full-public enquiry to help get to the bottom of the events that transpired is important. Not just for the Kuunsrach [Athara Magarat] and Volkegoth, but for all nations in the region. The soon we can get to the bottom of what happened, the better we can move forward, together."

Barks went on to deny reports by some media outlets of a 'retalition force' sent towards Volkegoth - pointing out that the movements of J.E.F. ships were part of an exercise planned over a year ago which has had 'unfortunate coincidences' and that the fleet had concluded the preliminary parts of the exercise and were now sailing north - though a few ships, mainly logistical vessels, had set sail to Keverai via the Lotus sea.

In a separate statement, the J.E.F. announced that these ships, and their humanitarian supplies, were at the disposal of the Volkegoth administration and could distribute aid to the affected communities if needed.

According to the Albionite Maritime Agency, there has been an increase in low-level air traffic around the Albionite presence in the Mesder, indicating that the navy could be practising helicopter and tilt-rotor operations - likely in preparation for humanitarian missions in the region.

As part of the investigation, Barks later hinted that the use of independent investigators sent to both Athara and Volkegoth 'may be in the works', but will be at the 'discression' of both nation's governments.

Regardless, it is clear that Kuunsrach's actions have put the J.E.F. in an awkward position - with rumours of Albionite military commanders 'infuriated' at the scandal Athara Magarat has put the organisation in, with some requesting the Kuunsrach's position in J.E.F. operations be reconsidered.

Funeral held for victims of Executive 1 attack. Suspected gunman appears in court
October 2nd 2017
Crystal City, Lardingo

Crystal City was filled with mourners today, as the caskets of those killed by a lone gunman were escorted through the streets of Lardingo's capital. People who crowded along the funeral route laid flowers on the caskets, or held up signs. 4 people were killed in the attack, including two members of COA, an aid, and a security guard. Chief Executive Renolds was released from the hospital in time to attend the funeral, which took place at the National Church of Worship. She delivered a statement shortly before the ceremony, pledging to ruthlessly destroy SHOCK.

The suspected gunman also made an appearance in a Crystal City court, where he was denied bail by the jude. He used his public appearance to rail against the Chief Executive, and lamented the plight of his fellow refugees. He also complained that he felt he had no prospects in Lardingo and had been in despair for months. The suspect announced that he had bought his rifle and practiced at a range for weeks without anyone figuring out what he was planning to do, and mocked Lardingo's unrestrictive gun laws and police.

CHARLIE DODO | While President Sangwoo spends his days abroad "forging new partnerships", having been in a summit with the Prime Minister of Ainslie for the last week, pressure has been growing on his administration in regards to the refugee crisis that has engulfed the isles. Cantonos, being a relatively wealthy country that is not far from the origin country of the majority of these refugees -- the Eastern Federal Socialist Republic of Bhikkustan -- has become a hub of activity for those fleeing oppression, poverty and despair.

Loaded boats, rafts and other improvised vessels can be spotted along the maritime borders of the Cantonosian isles being escorted by coast guard vessels out of the United Cities' jurisdiction. Many -- both inside and outside the country -- have drawn into question how Cantonos, a modern liberal democracy, has been so adamant in it's rejection of allowing even the bare minimum of refugees into the country.

To understand this, one must delve deeper into the nation's history, cultural and strong traditional background. Cantonos, by all means, is a socially conservative nation deeply in touch with it's traditions and past. The nation's most popular creed, Cantonosian Tjindösorei [an amalgation of Cantonosian paganism, Japanese Shintoism, Confucianism and Buddhism], represents the people's connection with it's ancestors and various deities that guard over them and their families. Throughout the years, polls have shown the Cantonosian people to have been overwhelmingly sceptical of immigration and it's possibly "corrupting" effects on the make-up of the nearly homogenous Cantonosian society.

A woman which we approached on the streets of Kuala, who preferred not to be named, responded the following when asked whether immigrants posed a threat to Cantonosian culture and values.

When these people come from abroad from places like Bikkhustan, they don't come with the... let's say best intentions. You can see it in the big cities like Kuala and Javana, wherever there are many tourists and immigrants people throw their trash on the ground, act noisy and disrupt what is widely accepted as acceptable behaviour. I do not believe people from Cantonos are better to other people, but I do believe that we are different. We have different cultures, different customs, different traditions, different belief systems and different mentalities. There are many people who like Cantonos the way it is and see people from abroad with their own strong backgrounds as something which could make this dissapear.

Another woman in Javana, who also preferred not to be named, had the following to say when asked about what should be done about refugees:

Refugees are not accepted very often, so I don't think that's a good thing. But seeing how things are in the world in places like Kharati [Cantonosian for Athara Magarat, stems from the predecessor state named the Khas-Khirati Empire], I'm afraid of accepting refugees and I kind of think it's OK to remain conservative. But when you look around the city, there are a lot of Asiatic people, so I think we could be more diverse.

A man in Javana was asked which problems would arise if refugees or more immigrants were allowed into the country, he responded that:

It's possible that people from different backgrounds will face discrimination. There are many open-minded people with regard to cultural differences, but there are still many conservative people in the country. So I think it's possible that immigrants will have a bad experience if they come here because some people might not be very considerate. There is also the fact that there are many poor and homeless people in the country, especially outside the cities, this will lead to many who would be unhappy if the Government sought to spend money on people who will not be acting in the best interest of the country.

Image

A man in the small city of St. Lilou, by the name of Gorou Koizumi, had a more positive opinion on allowing foreigners into the country.

If they want to come, we should accept them as any modern nation should. If we accept motivated people and boost the economy, Cantonos can get to the next level.

We asked a few people how they felt about the prospect of Cantonos loosening it's policy on immigration and refugees, this is how they responded:

I feel wary about this, I'm almost 70 years old and I've always grown up among Cantonosian people in Cantonos so I'm a bit afraid. I'm afraid that they will not integrate properly and refuse to learn our language [most widely spoken being Cantonosian, then Japanese]. Maybe it would be OK if they understood the language. People from Samudera, Landao and even Korea and Japan to a lesser degree, who learn the language before they come here are fine in my opinion.

If it does happen I hope there won't be more crimes. So I hope we can screen those people better.

I am fine with tourists, but residents is something I am not fully supportive of. When they live here, they often cause problems. Things like disposing of rubbish incorrectly, for example. Cantonosian people are uptight about that stuff, so neighbours may be bothered by them.

If they come here with a legitimate visa according to our laws, that will be fine. But if they stayed illegally, that would be a problem. But legitimate people can totally come.

I'm old so I dont really go to busy places where people hang out and have fun, but I'm worried about young people, namely young girls. Whether they are Bhikkus, Samuderans, Corindi or Landaonese guys, when handsome guys come, girls can easily catch feelings. And there are increasing numbers of victims of those guys.

In the past year, Cantonos has taken a total of 15 young Bhikkustani refugees as exchange students, including two familes. The Government has reiterated it's commitment to human rights by approving the expansion of the foreign aid budget to cooperate with NGO's and other organisations to help refugees reach safe destinations and provide basic necessities. However pressure continues to grow on the President's young administration, as bodies continue to pile up on both land and in the sea as the efflux of refugees from Bhikkustan towards the west doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon.

Immigration has become a key issue, with parties both on the left and the right either decrying or praising the current asylum policy. The Green Alternative Ecologist Party (GAEP), an ecologist movement which is situated on the socially progressive end of the spectrum, has called for massive reform on the policy to allow more immigration and refugees into Cantonos. Party leader Tomiko Yuzuki Chung (GAEP) has called the current policy "immoral" and "an affront to the humanity of the people of Cantonos". On the other side of the debate, far-right parties such as the Cantonosian Nationalist Party (CNP), United Cities Independence Party (UCIP) and Citizen's Action for Foreign Aid Reform (CAFAR) has called for stronger controls on immigration as a whole, and the total rejection of refugees into the United Cities. The topic of immigration has been for many years a polarising topic, but these elections have seen a climax in the passion shown by both sides to reject the other.
