Ganaraja: 'Government Clamping Down on False News'

15:38 - Ganaraja Bodhai put the national spotlight on false news reporting earlier this week when several foreign new agencies made the inhumane suggestion that the national government had started, "killing refugees [and trafficked peoples]", in what was claimed to be a desperate attempt to fix a 'growing problem'.

"The Bhumhalese Democracy holds in full esteem the fundamental human rights that all people, not just Bhumhalese citizens, are entitled to, and that all peoples are deserving of happy, peaceful lives which no government has the authority to forcefully take away", Dr. Bodhai told reporters in an emergency press conference, in reference to the nation's ban of the death penalty. "Furthermore, I would like to assure all nations, and peoples across the Western Isles that we in Bhumidol are not facing any kind of humanitarian crisis as some elements in the international media might suggest".

At Sunday's press conference, the Bodhai adminitration promised to clamp down on false news reports in the future, such as those that arose in the prior week. "It's not only damaging to us. It's also damaging for the enterprise of free media, and free speach", the Ganaraja deterministically told reporters. She announced her intention to have the Department of Consumer Internet Affairs team up with Tamarai, and LoL (LotusLink), to come up with technological strategies to combat the spread of false news, a phenomena which has been plaguing many other nations across the region.

On her part, Dr. Bodhai said that her administration would temporarily suspend issuance of press visas to non-Bhumhalese citizens for 20 days. Over this period, the government has stated its intention to give the Department of Consumer Internet Affairs the power and ability to filter out made up news. Members of the opposition Communist and Green parties decried the move as, "tyranical", and an implicit curb on free speech. Ganaraja Jayalithi Bodhai however has given a firm assurance to the public.

"I'm not here to play dictator", she jokingly told present members of the media. "I am primarily the elected leader of the Bhumhalese people, and it is my dearest hope that our nation's fledgling democracy will not become stunted by virulent false news. In our current age of globalization and fast speed internet, these are very real concerns that can derail our democracy, which is barely 3 years old".

Minister Vesa Condemns Bhumidol for Humanitarian atrocities

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Tilonius Vesa has condemned Bhumidol for what he calls are grave acts against humanity and the country's failure to uphold and protect human rights. Minister Vesa was speaking at a Press Briefing at the Foreign Ministry yesterday afternoon.

Covonant condemns Bhumidol for what we believe is blatant disregard for human rights and inhumane treatment to refugees, chief among those being the rife in human trafficking of individuals which the government as done little to quell.

Minister Vesa noted that Covonant is coordinating with its allies around the isles such as Corindia and Ostehaar to ensure the Bhumalese government receives the message that their actions will not be tolerated.

We along with coordinating with our allies around the isles will ensure that the government in Bhumidol understand that they cannot continue to operate in the Isles like that. Covonant has a zero tolerance approach to nations that dismisses the rights of its people.

Minister Vesa expressed that Covonant will be the beacon of hope and join other liberal states in condemning Bhumidol. Minister Vesa also noted that sanctions will be placed as an option if the Bhumalese government fail to come to terms with the international community.

I condemn their actions wholeheartedly. We do not support such acts, and I will go a step further to say that if the Bhumalese government do not accept the terms of changing and respecting the rights of its people and refugees and crackdown on the human trafficking that is on the rise in the country, Covonant will not hesitate to enact the harshest sanctions towards the nation. We would also go further to encourage the CU member states in joining us with sanctions towards the country.

Covonant is to continue monitoring the situation in Bhumidol through the Covonantian embassy in Corindia, Velah and Moukere.

Cooperative Union citizens to now travel with passports.

The Cooperative Union (CU) Commission has ruled that CU citizens within CU member states will soon be expected to travel within the CU with a passport. The agreement was made in the Commission Chamber last week. Covonantian representative to the CU Mrs. Silvania introduced the discussion which at first caused a few murmurs suggesting immediate opposition.

I will take the liberty and open up the discussion that will lead to our Union developing more to achieving the goals set out whence this Union was drafted. Representatives I believe that to create stronger linkages, I propose the Community establish its documents allowing free movements to member states. A Cooperative Passport. With this passport that will be granted to all citizens within the CU to move freely among its states. With the introduction of such passport, all national passports should discontinue for use of the CU own.

She however retracted her statement after the Noronican representative expressed opposition and offered a more pragmatic approach.

I would like to propose an alteration to your current proposal. Would it not be better to have member states print the Cooperative Union's badge on their passports while retaining their own design and function? This would mean that passports are easily discernable to other nations not in the Union, and it would allow each member state sovereignty over some of their own travel rights. The badge would then serve as an allowance for free movement around member states.

Many have come out in support of the proposal expressing that it is a good step in reducing the numbers of illegal migrants who may wish to travel in between member states and may also allow the CU to have greater control over the refugees they permit.

New National Anthem is chosen!

Sebastiaan Freriks, Composer of the New Anthem

At a ceremony in the famed concert hall of Faas Cathedral, the orchestra played the new anthem of the Highrock Confederation. Constasting against the clear glory driven piece "Imperial Glory" by Pondes that was our previous anthem, this new piece "Struggles Remembered" is a somber piece, however with a grand feeling of hope slightly woven in. The composer is a formerly neglected composer, Sebastiaan Freriks, who was overshadowed by Pondes and Vorel. However, neither survived the war. The orchestras had struggled to find a living composer who lived up to their standards. However, Freriks's piece was chosen in a contest.

As was noted by one of the music critics in attendance "This piece is like the official soundtrack of the Jahe people. It remembers our struggles, often even caused by ourselves, but it has the hope that has always caried us on, with the end being almost like a plea for us to unite in our hope."

President Signs Immigration Welcome Law

Last night, the President had signed a law that allows any immigrants, legal and illegal alike, to become citizens of the United Republican Lands within five years of starting the process. All immigrants have to do is pay $15,000 to the Department of Homeland Security and then take a English Language Test and a Career Assessment Exam. Once the five years in the process are completed for an applicant, said applicant will become a citizen immediately upon swearing the citizenship oath and the completion of a criminal background check. Any immigrant who can not pay the $15,000 will still be able to obtain citizenship, but it would take ten years instead of five. Any non-communist fleeing from a communist country will also be able to use the program; however, no communists may use this new program.

Doctor Trials Moved Up

Due to a vacancy in the schedule for the criminal courts, the trial of the doctors who committed mass murder of living beings has been moved up to being held on Wednesday, February 15th. The defense agreed in the moving of the court date, stating that they had prepared their case and their evidence. The trial will be live on television, scheduled to be aired live from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. The police have asked us to remind those sending main to stop sending death threats and poisoned foods and beverages.

Gifford and Kenzai have condemned and shown dismay to Human Rights abuses overseas. Firstly, Eleane Gifford and Andrew Kenzai held a press conference where Kenzai explained how Ainslie views the incident in the United Republican Lands, " We encourage the calm and thoughtful government of the United Republican Lands to stand by human rights and to provide these medical professionals a fair trial". Eleane Gifford also added to his comment "We also have no “Cuban Pianos” in your nation as a result of this". Kenzai glared at Gifford and then recieved questions from the press.

Kenzai then turned away and walked back to his office. Gifford continued the press conference. "Bhumidol's government is currently the height of ignorant institutions. They have absolutely no clue of the situation they currently have in their hands. There is a major trafficking ring within their nation and they must round them up and put them before national courts, however we also support the usage of International Courts in this matter". "Bhumidol is not dealing with its' refugee crisis effectively and this is the direct result of this. Government mismanagement has lead to some of the widest human rights abuses our government has ever observed. We now officially condemn Bhumidol for their human rights abuses. We find their actions inexcusable and devestating to the highest degree".

SUURSO - Air Kavamaa Flight KH951 from Suurso to Kaartilankoski was turned into a bloodbath today after a terrorist, Mohamed al-Fasani, attacked the flight and threatened to murder passengers of the flight if the Kavamaan government did not stop the removal of immigrants and anti-immigrant sentiments across the nation. Al-Fasani, 39, went aboard the flight in Suurso along with seven other passengers. The flight went without incident until it flew above the Lammunkylä Straits when Al-Fasani pulled a gun and threatened to shoot one passenger every minute if the Kavamaan government did not stop their anti-immigrant sentiments and removal of immigrants. Al-Fasani's brother, Abdul Ali, was removed from the nation the previous day before.

A Salmio Province MP supporting the Patriotic Kavamaans Movement, Mrs. Milla Vepsäläinen was on board the flight after visiting a family member in the small town of Suurso. She boarded the flight at the helicopter along with Al-Fasani at 7pm, and was due to take the two hour-long flight from one part of the nation to the other. When the helicopter flew above the Lammunkylä Straits, Al-Fasani pulled Mrs. Vepsäläinen to his side and threatened to shoot her if her demands were not met. The pilot was forced to hover the helicopter and seat with the passengers.

After Al-Fasani telephoned the local government of his demands, two Kavamaa Air Force MD-500 helicopters were dispatched with a team of four reservists and a single Kavamaa police hostage negotiator in one and four reservists in another. The helicopters hovered beside the hovering Air Kavamaa helicopter, while the hostage negotiator talked to Al-Fasani. The negotiator, Mr. Urpo Häkkinen, continued talking to Al-Fasani about releasing his brother from captivity in return for Mrs Milla. What Al-Fasani was not supposed to know was that a soldier in one of the circling helicopters was actually aiming to kill Al-Fasani from behind a tainted window.

It was when the soldier took the shot when the chaos broke out. A sudden jerk in one of the MD-500 helicopters caused the soldier's bullet to instead impact the shoulders of a passenger ducking down beside Al-Fasani. An enraged Al-Fasani started shooting at the helicopter that had shot at him frantically when one of his bullets hit the pilot of the helicopter in the head, causing it to spiral and plunge into the icy waters of the straits. Of the five people on the MD-500 helicopter, a soldier and pilot were killed while the rest of the soldiers managed to jump out and take refuge on the sinking helicopter when it impacted the water as the helicopters were not flying too high above the waters.

Al-Fasani was about to shoot Mrs. Milla when one of the other soldiers in the other MD-500 helicopter shot Al-Fasani in the chest, causing him to stumble and fall out of the helicopter. His body plunged into the straits but the survivors of the fallen helicopter quickly recovered it while waiting for rescue. The Air Kavamaa helicopter pilot quickly regained control of his helicopter. Within minutes, Kavamaa Navy boats quickly rescued the survivors of the fallen helicopter while a several-hour long search for the bodies followed.

The remaining helicopters flew to the small town of Aitamannikkä where local police and emergency services ferried the injured to hospital and treated them of trauma. The Kavamaa government has said that they will comment after a search of Al-Fasani's apartment.

Party Leader Imprisoned Sparks Outrage and Call for Referendum


Indigenous Gangish People's Party leader Antiko Rullaburuba being arrested in his hometown of Janala.

Indigenous Gangish People's Party leader Antiko Rullaburuba has been arrested in his hometown of Janala after posting a video on YouTube stating that he practices an indigenous Gangish religion as opposed to the required Catholicism. The arrest is happening only days after Rullaburuba caused a frenzy at a monthly party meeting.Not practicing Catholicism can lead to a 5-10 year jail sentence. The video quickly went viral in Gan Fingolka, with many praising his bravery.

"This isn't the Gan Fingolka I imagined after the Civil War ended," Rullaburuba stated in his video."I imagined we would all be free and equal, but that is not the case. Homosexuality was illegal until 2014, and we still don't have the right to marry who we want. Women don't have access to sometimes vital healthcare. We can't practice the religion we want. I am making this video today to go against the grain, though. President Gonzalez Puente, if you're watching this, I am not a Catholic and never have been. I practice the religion of my people, of the Gangish people."

The video quickly went viral, reaching over 300,000 views in just six hours. Twelve hours after posting the video, federal police arrived at Rullaburuba's home in Janala and placed him under arrest. The original video has been removed, but many have reposted it in other places. Citizens have also taken to social media to show their disdain at both the ban on marriage equality and Rullaburuba's arrest.

Others in the Indigenous Gangish People's Party are trying to force a second referendum that would pass religious freedom. They have received 320,000 of the necessary 500,000 signatures in less than one day.

Press Secretary Alejandro Cortez Gonzalez has released the following statement: "It is unfortunate that a party leader has been imprisoned. However, he broke the law, and even those in places of power are subject to the law. We will ensure that Mr. Rullaburuba receives a fair trial, which will make certain that his punishment fits his crime."

Socialist candidate Marina Lacasa remains in the lead in the presidential elections in Areguelista, according to the latest polls. National Ahernric Police Service Enters Damhford

The Telegraph has confirmed that the National Ahernric Police Service has driven into the city of Damhford today. There had been discussion in the Comsedlon about how to respond to the ambush which took place three days ago in Damhford, including gun/weapons confiscations and bans for the city. Some in the Comsedlon even suggested widespread confiscations and bans across the Highlands. NAPS first entered Damhford with militarized utility vehicles, armed with machine guns; fortunately there has been no significant violence. When questioned about the heavy weaponry and armored cars, a NAPS spokesperson claimed that "it is a necessary counter to any further organized ambushes and to keep things from escalating."

People of the city moved off and away from the streets as much as possible, as the National Police vehicles moved by, yet some groups protested their arrival. They could be seen shouting at the passing vehicles, with such phrases as "lowlanders go home" and waving flags with rifles on them saying "Come and take it." This is in reference to the discussion about gun confiscation, propagandized by radical highland elements. Various objects were thrown at the vehicles in some cases, such as rotten produce and even bricks. Several arrests have been made and violent offenders were subdued non-lethally.

The National Ahernric Police Service task force appears to have established itself within Damhford Park, requiring all visitors to leave. It is currently designated as a restricted area with limited access. They have not yet ventured back out. Radical propaganda has charged that their mission is to confiscate guns from the population, based on Comsedlon discussion alone.

Death of Judge David Baker Shocks Nation, Ends Conservative Majority

Alland- The nation mourns the loss of Supreme Court judge David Baker, who died Monday morning after a short battle with cancer. He was 79. Nominated by Councillor Wendell George (CP, Kentwood) and elected by the National Assembly in 1992, Judge Baker was seen as a moderately conservative member of the bench.

Born in Jamesport, Baker was the eldest son of Edwin Baker, a member of the National Assembly from 1945-1957, and Carlotta Baker (Iglesias), a journalist who hosted the popular radio talk show Voices of Democracy from 1950-1964.

The vacancy leaves the high court in a 3-3 liberal/conservative split. By law, the Federal Councillors have 1 month to nominate their replacements, after which the National Assembly has 1 month to elect one of the nominees to the Supreme Court. All seven Federal Councillors have stated their intent to wait at least two weeks before announcing their nominees, out of respect for the grieving families and the nation.

Michigonia's Absence from Climate Summit Raises Concern from Enviro Groups

Kirsdoff, Ipland- The Western Isles Climate Summit of 2017 began last week with one notable absence- Michigonia. More than a dozen nations are represented at the conference, being held in Ipland.

When asked in his weekly press conference about why Michigonia would not attend, President Carlos Torres said:

"We will be monitoring the discussion at the summit, but we believe we are ahead of the curve when it comes [to] environmental responsibility. Our government will see what kind of standards the Summit will adopt, and we can review them at our pleasure.

President Torres has taken criticism from prominent environmental groups and legislators for not sending a delegate. Over the course of his term as Councillor (2010-present) he has pushed for more involvement in multi-lateral treaties and compacts, so the recent non-involvement has raised questions.

The Kumari of Coventry who declared a religious crusade for all Khas-Kiratis regardless of their religion to follow.

"It seems that SHOCK are desperate to go to that means." The Foreign Ministry of Athara Magarat released their latest statement. "The Kumari is not just a religious icon, she is a thirteen-year-old girl and a citizen of Covonant. Forcing her to make such statements show how despicable SHOCK are."

What exactly did SHOCK do to ensure such statements from the government of Athara Magarat? Although it is yet to be confirmed whether SHOCK forced her to say such, the Kumari of Coventry got into quite a controversy after she approved of a religious war in a video that has gone viral in social media.

Kumaris are traditionally important in various Khas-Kirati religious traditions. Originally the system of Kumarism was prevalent only in the Newar ethnic group but during the period of the Khas-Kirat Empire, each and every city or town needed to have their own Kumari from any ethnic group and the tradition stuck. The religiously diverse Khas-Kirati tribes were united by the clever Hangs of the Khas-Kirat Empire through the Kumaris. The Kumaris are mainly Vajrayana Buddhists but various animist religions also accept them and even some Balnian sects claim that Kumaris are the prophets of God (while other Khas-Kiratis will call them Living Goddesses).

Even after the Khas-Kirat Empire has long vanished, the retired (as soon as they reach puberty, new Kumaris are selected) High Kumaris of Athara Magarati of age were married (by the Kumari's own choice) to Khans of Bhikkustan. The current Khan-in-exile Khan Survei's wife was also once the High Kumari of Athara Magarat.

Protesters in Kevora, Keomora's largest city

Protests erupted nationwide over the decision to extract raw resources in East Hayara, a trio of islands where the Nogan Dar one of the holiest sites of the Eonist faith is located at. In Kevora alone a quarter of a million took to the streets and converged in Kaidon square, denouncing the decision and calling for members of Parliament to do their duty and protect their kin living on the islands and repressed in Segentova, with some even calling for the islands to be returned to Keomoran sovereignty.

Street Violence Erupts in Damhford

A National Ahernric Police Service vehicle firebombed near Damhford Park

Following the fatal ambush just days ago in Damhford, and despite the National Police's efforts at peacekeeping, the city has fractured with the sounds of chaos. The National Ahernric Police Service entered the city yesterday and for the most part confined themselves to Damhford Park. There were a few isolated instances of unrest, however by this afternoon (Tuesday) mobs organized and advanced on the park. National Police personnel attempted to control the crowd. Suddenly, one of the service's vehicles erupted in flames as a violent demonstrator threw a petrol bomb at it.

National Police personnel have begun to respond to the criminal elements. In a few cases, radical protestors who shot at the Police were engaged. Currently it is unknown exactly how many casualties have been sustained but the Telegraph's reporters and correspondants report that several Police personnel have been wounded as a result of the growing violence.

A second incident occurred several blocks away from Damhford Park. Witnesses report having seen a team of National Ahernric Policemen arrive in front of an apartment building in two vehicles. They then claim that a blue flag with a white star came out the window, as well as an improvised explosive device. One vehicle was destroyed in the attack and two personnel were allegedly injured. Gunmen from somewhere across the street fired on the Police Service, possibly striking another two.

As of yet hostilities between extremists and law enforcement have not ceased. Due to the nature of the chaos it is difficult to understand the true magnitude of unrest in Damhford, and gain accurate reports. Despite this the Telegraph is dedicated to purveying the latest updates in this dire time.

National Ahernric Police are attacking! They have gone ahead and begun to confiscate innocent peoples' arms in the Damhford area. Simple families outside the city, who might have a basic hunting rifle, report heavily armed officers desecrating their homes and threatening them with violence for to confiscate the "weapon." How ironic that before, were we not provoked, these hunting rifles were just that; we weren't intent on attacking anyone. Yet when the lowland government and its goons descend upon us, we are forced to make them weapons.

We are now at a fateful crossroads. There are two choices before us, but only one option is truly for the best. The question is whether or not to go through with the Highland Conference--we absolutely must! To suspend it would be to grant victory to the Ahernric spoilers!

We understand that freedom fighters flew a new flag out of their window before defending themselves from NAPS aggression. Seen above, it is a blue flag with a white star, and the words "Highland Republic." The representatives for the Highland Conference are sure to vote it as our national flag. It is clear that we must remain separate from the lowland aggressors. As they have shown their officious colors, so we must raise ours high!

Amazingly, a pair of junior high school-aged sisters have begun adapting one song's lyrics to our current finest hour, and even participated in raising the Highland Republic flag in Damhford despite the danger of Ahernric raids.

Doctors found guilty of Mass Murder

Today, the three doctors on trial have been found guilty of 537 counts of infanticide. They were then sentenced to 13,425 years in prison each, with no possibility for parole. The defense tried bringing up that the doctors were performing a safe procedure with the women's consent; however, they were reminded that human beings are not property, thus the women could not give consent for disposal, and that the death of any human being is considered murder. They were especially reminded of the passages in the Constitution, amendments, and current laws, that dedicated the nation itself to the preservation of life. The jury of peers who presided over the case reached a unanimous verdict of guilty within thirty minutes of the starting of the deliberation. They are currently being sent to be housed in a maximum security prison.

Big Loss in Court

Today, the the three doctors who risked their lives to provide safe and cheap abortion to women in the United Republican lands have been found guilty of murder. The lawyers that the Socialist Party supplied to them had failed, leading to the innocent doctors to receive an outrageous sentence of 13,425 years in prison each, with no possibility for parole. This is a sad had when women lose control and rights to their own bodies in favor of the twisted policies of the state. 42nd Owinnorse Highlanders Abandon Royal Owinn Army!

The highland city of Damhford has been turning into a bit of a warzone lately. Violent demonstrators and insurgents are fighting against the National Ahernric Police Service. According to recent reports, NAPS personnel are being heavily engaged by highland extremists. According to an Owinn Forces News correspondent in Fort Unification, the National Police requested military support. This would be in the form of the 42nd Owinnorse Highland Regiment, a well-trained mountain warfare unit.

Although top Royal Owinn Army leadership sent urgent orders to the 42nd Highland Regiment, so that they could quell the riotous unrest, they were confused by a lack of clear acknowledgment, and conflicting reports. After a few hours communications personnel alleged that there was a lack of reports coming out of the Regiment's HQ to indicate that they were mobilizing to Damhford as intended.

However the 42nd Owinnorse Highland Regiment sent a brief statement admitting to mass desertion. The Regiment's Commanding Officer says "the good men and women, which I have the pleasure of leading, have aligned ourselves with our own people, and with our own land, the Highlands. We are now proud guardians of the Highland Republic. We are now the 1st Guards Rifle Regiment, no longer using the Royal Owinn Army designation of 42nd Owinnorse Highland Regiment."

This shocking turn of events has already impacted Owinn efforts for peace in the highlands. Such a feat is unprecedented in the armed forces of Shanowinn. It is currently believed that the National Ahernric Police Service is in the process of withdrawing from Damhford, although this awaits confirmation.

"There will come a day, when science, reasoning, and human dignity form the basis of governmental action in our nation's halls of power. Not the supestitious and dehumanizing prejudices of religion", Kavitha Bodhai, the local HLB Chapter President shouted to a cheering crowd of protesters. "And I sincerely believe, that the day this will happen is right around the corner".

Other chapters of the HLB, which is believed to have close to 100,000 members in total, are expected to mobilize later this week and next week across the nation protesting issues of a similar vein.
