Glorious Deputy Delivers Speech Denouncing Vioraux's Gladiator Games

Alotska, Harvat, Pozlacenslavia

The Glorious Deputy delivering a speech Sunday in his hometown of Alotska
On Sunday, while on a trip to his hometown of Alotska, the Glorious Deputy of the Slavic Republics, Marko Goleb, spoke at length on many topics, including the upcoming gladiator games in Vioraux.
It does not take any viewpoint of an ideological lens to see what the government in Vioraux is doing as wrong. It only takes the compassion and kindness in the human soul, which the people in Vioraux seem to lack for the poor they are thrusting into barbaric fights... I hereby declare my disgust at this class division in such a sorry state as this in the nation of Vioraux, and I hereby declare my sympathy to the poor who are forced to fight for the entertainment of the rich...

Representatives from Vioraux could not be reached for comment.

Altered Bhikkustani Refugee Act Passed by the Rajya Sabha

16:32 - Pradhana Manjushri, the current leader of the Rajya Sabha, announced that the legislature had passed an altered version of the Bhikkustani Refugee Act earlier this morning at around 10:00 AM. The Pradhana gave further details on the what the new refugee act entailed in today's sreetisam, stating that a little under 900 refugees, all coming from highly educated backgrounds and recieving corporate sponsorships, would be given asylum in Bhumidol and a streamlined pathway to citizenship.

"The new act [which was passed earlier today] makes provisions for 858 Bhikkustani refugees, to eventually become Bhumhalese citizens", Ms. Manjushri read to the press. "The Committe of Foreign Affairs forwarded a list of refugees who qualified under the EA-1, and EA-2 categories of employment immigration to the Rajya Sabha's Immigration Committee, and over the course of Monday and Tuesday the ruling coalition came to an agreement to streamline the process for these refugees. The residency requirement for obtaining citizenship in Bhumidol has been reduced for these refugees from 40 years to 20. Additionally, we've secured private sponsorships for each of the refugees coming in under the EA-1 classification, and are coming close to doing the same for those Bhikkustanis being accepted under an EA-2 status."

Most Bhumhalese people expressed approval at the government's responsible handling of the asylum seekers on LoL, with many feeling that the government struck the right balance between the needs of the refugees and the needs of the people. Several vocal liberal critics denounced the legislation as having placed a price on human life and for having rejected thousands of other Bhikkustani refugees who needed help, while conservative ciritcs denounced the move as being a harbinger for the eventual defilement of traditional Bhumhalese culture.

Currently, the BIS (Bureau of Immigration Services) has been in contact with ISDP and local governmental officials in Athara Magarat to begin the process of moving the group of immigrants to Bhumidol. Chairman Anu Dubey, the head of the Committee of Foreign Affairs, and the current Director of BIS has told the press that all of the refugees of would be arriving in a single government chartered flight which will be expected to arrive at Aghya-Tamarai International Airport next Tuesday at 4 PM.

The Revolution thunders on!
First Central Economic Growth Plan begun
Image

The revolution is on its way to victory, thanks to the great guidance we receive from the Premier. In a statement released today, the first of the CEGP economic plans has been made. These plans will run for five years each in a style similar to that of our comrades in New Aapelistan, and have the aim of bolstering our economy and bettering the lives of every comrade. The plan specifically targets our agricultural and industrial production, to further output and hopefully we can reach self sufficiency. The specific details are as follows. All agricultural farms shall be collectivised and owned by the state, that is to say the workers. All workers involved in this field shall remain in their jobs, but will have new goals. Workers unemployed as of now shall be given a job in either agriculture, industrial labour or in the military. The agricultural sector shall have an increase of 15% output of grain, 15% of green vegetables and 10% of all animal products. In industry, we shall increase tariffs on foreign textiles and other products that we produce. In all industrial areas more subsidies will be directed to improving the factories. A 15% increase in production here is expected as well.

The education system has been overhauled as well. The new system focuses on equipping young comrades with the skills they will require to contribute to our great and prosperous nation. There will also be extracurricular activities mandatory for all children, so that they may learn skills such as camping and combat skills so that they can defend our motherland. A large housing campaign to build another 20,000 houses to cope with homelessness and poverty. All refugees are encouraged to return home and contribute to the nation, those who flee holding large assets at home shall have these taken by the state if they refuse to return once they are able and they have a place to go.

There shall also be a campaign of defence of our heritage. Businesses, books and art which are deemed to be against our state and defamatory shall be taken. We shall purge this western propaganda against us. Anyone who is caught with western propaganda or acting subversively shall be taken to a reeducation camp. Be ever aware. If you see someone acting against our proud people by hoarding resources or having western propaganda act against them, lest their treachery lay us low. We must be a united front against the imperialists. The forces of Mara will try and ruin our nation. We must defeat them.

THE ATHARA MAGARATI HERALD

In Athara Magarati schools, steep learning curve for refugees and teachers

KIRAT TOWN

For 15-years-old Batu, the trickiest part about learning Kham is that the letter "Nga" which is as frequently used as the English alphabet 'e' and is also a word with several meanings, chief among them "I" and "demon snake".

"Nga has really confused me." Batu admits. "Learning Kham language has been difficult."

"Not to mention that we have Atish and Khas classes," adds his friend Jebe. "And we had to choose one of the several Kirati languages since we are staying in Kirat Town. I choose Kirat-Limbu as Limbus are more in numbers here so chances are that I did encounter someone in this town who only spoke what I am learning. Batu choose Kirat-Yakkha due to its historical importance."

"It's a load. I had thought Athara Magarat would have lesser classes. Turns out I was worng." Batu speaks. "We all have four languages classes and we are not yet in normal curriculum." But the boys do not complain. They are only ones in their class who can understand English and sometimes they help the teachers in speaking with other students. Just a few weeks ago they had wore the defeated looks as they had been en route to Athara Magarat's coasts on packed boats leaving Bhikkustan.

Image
Refugee students attend a class at Falgunanda Secondary School in Kirat Town, Athara Magarat

Batu, Jebe and their classmates and families are among the 40,000 refugees migrants who have arrived in Athara Magarat since the Bhikkustani refugee crisis began. More refugees on fully-loaded boats are taking dangerous journey across the seas to reach a nation that has warmly welcomed them. The Hang of Athara Magarat has promised to "take up to 200,000 refugees who will settle temporarily in Athara Magarat for one or two (or even more) years until the situation in Bhikkustan returns to normal". Athara Magarat faces a Herculean task of absorbing the newcomers into her society, including schooling. Most of the youngsters don't speak any of the official languages (Kham, Atish and Khas) or local languages such as Kirati languages spoken predominately in Kirat Town. And they have also missed months of school ever since conflicts started brewing in Bhikkustan. Many are also psychologically scarred by the experiences that made them leave home in the first place.

Hundreds of Buddhist refugees have been further sent to fellow International Sangh Defense Pact (ISDP) member Bhumidol, where Buddhism is the prevalent religion as compared to shamanist Athara Magarat which leans slightly on Buddhist and Balnian values.

"Some of our Buddhist friends said a couple of day ago that they were being sent to Bhumidol, Haven't seen them since." Jebe told The Athara Magarati Herald.

"It's been a huge challenge, specially finding the teachers." An official from the Ministry of Education told the press. "Initially we offered teaching jobs to anyone who could understand our languages but such people were few and now Athara Magarati teachers (most of them high-school and college volunteers) have been roped to teach the young ones. But the thing is that the students need not only good teachers who can teach them our languages but also help them overcome their trauma and support them."

At Falgunanda Secondary School, Kirat Town, intensive language classes have been set for the twenty refugee students. They have slowly been making progress in the basics after starting their classes a couple of weeks ago. The Bhikkustani children learn languages under the volunteer teachers while their Athara Magarati counterparts are moving forward with their courses.

"It will be difficult for them but I believe that they can face the difficulty since they braved so many hardships to come here," said Reema Sherpuja, 22, a Psychology student from Segentova-Athara Magarat University (SAMU), who has been teaching Kham language as a volunteer teacher at Falgunanda with her friend Selena Brightstar who is teaching Atish to the refugee children.

"They will have to work double or triple the time than other students once they get into normal classes." Selena agreed with her friend. "The classes have been intensive for the students as well as us."

ALäRšHE

Khojin sweeps the floor with the mop. She is dressed in a light green overall and has a medical mask covering the lower half of her face and gloves at her hands. She is among the thousands of refugees who had fled from Bhikkustan to arrive at Athara Magarat. At 44 and with a family to support, the woman with basic fluency in Kham, Khas and Rjanekä, has found a herself a job at the new Town Hospital. Now she takes evening classes for Atish and more proficiency in Rjanekä language, the mother-tongue of the Rjanekä ethnic group who are dominant in Aläršhe (pronounced as Alaarzheh).

"How I thank Buddha that I used to watch Athara Magarati dramas!" laughed Khojin upon being interviewed. "My Athara Magarati co-workers are surprised that I know every detail about As Long As You Are and the Rjanekä language drama Countdown to Aläršhe Express."

Despite her humorous nature for now, she is extremely worried about her relatives and other fellow Bhikkustanis who are still taking language classes rather than getting a job like her. "Language is taken very seriously here in Athara Magarat than anywhere else. My cousin tells me she and her husband take four hours of language classes everyday, one hour each for Kham, Atish, Khas and a local language - in the case of this town, Rjanekä. They will be only allowed to get a job the next month or even later than that until they learn the basics of the four languages."

Meanwhile, Khuchar, 29, has found himself as the new ENT specialist in the Aläršhe Town Hospital. Even though he got the job due to his high qualifications, he attributes his knowledge of Kham and basic fluency in several other Athara Magarati languages as his selection to the post. He was a graduate from the National University of Athara Magarat (NUAM), which explains his proficiency in the local languages.

A new AM-anime about Bhikkustani refugees.

"As part of the employment bond, I had stayed in Athara Magarat for further six years after completing my studies at very low expenses. I had hardly settled back to my homeland when the conflicts started and I was back here again. As per the refugee distribution, I ended up in Aläršhe where they had built this new hospital. The officials told me that unlike others, I had a full job guarantee of three years. It's good to be back here and watch AM-anime and movies which I got kinda hooked up into and learned several words from there way back when I was a student at NUAM. I recommend anyone wanting to learn Athara Magarati languages to watch AM-anime, AM-dramas and movies."

With developmental activities taking place rapidly at previously overlooked towns such as Aläršhe, refugees who can speak even one official Athara Magarati languages have been finding jobs in such towns. Two blocks down from the hospital was a small but well-managed beauty parlor which had employed several young Bhikkustanis. The youths said that they were happy to contribute to the society and that they had more knowledge about Athara Magarati culture from AM-anime such as Athara Magarat and the Western Isles.

Several talented AM-anime fans have been employed in the world-famous AM-anime industry as anime artists, said sources from the famous Chitrakar Studios and the government-owned AMnimation.

Thank you, everyone for helping with the Bhikkustani refugee crisis: Hang

NEW LIBANG

The Hang of Athara Magarat, Purna Sura Paija, gave a press statement thanking "everyone" for helping with the recent Bhikkustani refugee crisis.

Image
The Hang of Athara Magarat.

"I would like to thank everyone for helping in the Bhikkustani refugee crisis. Without your help, Athara Magarat could have done nothing. I thank the honorable nations of Bhumidol, Callumstan and Urazawa for taking in the refugees from Bhikkustan. I also thank the nations in the Cooperative Union Covonant, Ipland, Keomora and Callumstan for helping Athara Magarat overcome the refugee situation by providing humanitarian aids to the refugees arriving at our coasts in boats. I believe that other nations in the Isles will take notice of this event and help the refugees in every possible way they can. I thank the politicians and lawmakers (and who can forget the compassionate and understanding Athara Magarati citizens?) for standing together by me in showing the world a responsible nation. This act of responsibility shown by Athara Magarat will allow nations across the Isles to act in responsible manners, I believe."

The Hang also added that Athara Magarat was worried about human rights issues in Vioraux's gladiator games.

"Several nations belonging to different ideologies and cultures have demanded action against Vioraux and we Athara Magaratis also condemn whatever new reality show the Viennes are having. We don't understand how educated and sensible people like you (Viennes) could watch other humans being forced to fight each other. No offense but acts such as this gladiator thing is the reason why AM-anime, video games and movies nowadays tend to have Viennes as foreign villains. We from Athara Magarat sincerely hope that we will see a new Vioraux which respects human rights. Thank you all for listening to Athara Magarat!"

Coventry, Covonant

Minister of Finance and Commerce to arrive in Carpestan today

Image

Image
Minister of Finance and Commerce, Archibald Steel

The Minister of Finance and Commerce Archibald Steel departed Coventry, Covonant for Potestas, Carpestan at around 12 pm this afternoon and is expected to arrive in the country around 6 pm. Minister Steel will be attending the first conference of the Trade Among Liberally Oriented Nations (TALON) as representative of the Covonantian Government at the negotiation table. The talks are slated to begin tomorrow.

Ministry of Defense express troop movement to San Javier

Image
Ministry of Defense (Maxmum)

The Ministry of Defense (Maxmum) as released a statement late yesterday evening expressing that Covonantian troops will be deployed to San Javier. The statement however did not provide a figure or a timeline.

Covonant being concerned with the the threat of Communism taking hold in San Javier and with the country collapsing into a state of instability, has found it necessary to provide military assistance to mitigate these eventualities. The Ministry is working alongside other government agencies and military departments to see that our involvement will be promising.

When the CBC tried to contact the Minister of Defense Batiatus Sula, the calls went unaswered. We however got in touch with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Mrs. Cynthia Griers. Mrs. Griers expressed that Covonant is concerned and is acting legally with the sending of troops.

Image
Cynthia Griers, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defense (Maxmum)

Our intent of sending troops is out of us being concerned with eventualities that we fear might happen, and we are acting legally as the San Javier government has been informed.

When asked if the troops were requested. Mrs. Grier declined to comment under the pretext of fearing sensitive information being made public to those who Covonant are not pleased with.

I am not in a position to give out sensitive information. Such information may pose challenges. In fact I would object from any more questions at this time, as the matter is still in its infancy

Mrs. Grier before ending the conversation did however note that troops deployed will not be from Covonant but one of the many Covonantian bases around the isles, most preferably the base in Corindia.

Cooperative Union provides report on Athara Magarat intake of refugees

With delegates voting to send CU Officers to Athara Magarat to assess the government's preparation in taking refugees, the Officers have published their reports on the refugees intake. Three Officers from the CU were sent to Athara Magarat to conduct investigations. In the report it expressed that the Athara Magarati government has shown where they are in a position to take the expected amount of refugees, the report however expresses concerns for the housing of these refugees. The reports recommends the building of apartments but express that the government take a proactive role to ensure the designated areas are not turned into ghettos or slums.

With the expected amount of refugees coming to Athara Magarat from Bhikkustan being 200,000 the government has shown great levels of readiness with the almost 50,000 that have already been admitted into the country. We are however concerned as to how these individuals would be housed. Athara Magarat has the land space for the building of apartment dwellings that could be the source of housing. We would advise the government to explore that option, we however wish to express our hope that if the government does wish to undertake the construction of apartment dwellings, that these dwellings are to be hastily built with strong materials and that they should be properly maintained so as to prevent the destruction of the premises or the ghettorisation of the area.

The report also expressed medical issues that they say the Athara Magarati government may not be able to sufficiently overcome.

We note that the great many Bhikkustanis that have braved to journey from the east to the west, may be carrying infectious diseases that may pose a challenge not just to Athara Magarat but neighbouring countries as well. For this reason we recommend that the government revamp its immunization service at port of entry around the country to serve those who are coming. We would also recommend to the government that in the event that individuals are seen to be the carriers of infectious diseases that may pose a challenge to governance that areas of quarantine be established and for those individuals to be returned back to Bhikkustan post-haste.

The report also made recommendations for the Cooperative Parliament to have other member states take on refugees in the eventuality that the Athara Magaratis have become overwhelmed by the task.

We make a recommendation specifically to the Cooperative Union Parliament, to encourage member states to alleviate the Athara Magaratis of any excess in the event that they become overburden by the large numbers of refugees.

Professor of International Organisation at the University of Coventry Dr. Spencer Reeves expressed that the report deserves merit but some of its recommendation is fantastical.

Image
Dr. Spencer Reeves, Professor of International Organisation

I am in support of some aspects of the report, however some parts seems to be very encroaching on member states independence. For instance the recommending of building apartments, that is all good, but can the Athara Magarat government afford to construct these structures. Cooperative Union member states can not provide those finances because it is to benefit none Cooperative Union citizens which is going against the mandate of the organisation. Another area that is a big overstep and encroachment on national governments is to basically tell the CU Parliament that you are to force member states to take in refugees. One that can and can't happen. It can if the Parliament makes a ruling which the Commission has to agree to, and it can't due to there is no where in the treaty that makes recommendation for it

Mr. Reeves notes that if that should happen it may lead to the dissolution of the CU, with Covonant probably being the first to leave.

It is no coincidence that the government opted from taking refugees. They could not take refugees. The people would not allow it. Covonant is a xenophobic society, that fears immigrants would come and take their jobs although their jobs are being lost to automation and outsourcing. And they are fearful for a complete change in the culture and tradition of the society. Athara Magaratis are more compassionate and considerate. But any forcing of member states to take on refugees would see heads of government total rejection so I doubt that recommendation will be even considered

The Covonantian government as already sent shiploads of goods to Athara Magarat along with personnel to assist temporarily with the smooth transistion of refugees taking up temporary residence in Athara Magarat. The Covonantian government have also pledge to provide the Athara Magarat government with $125 million dollars which is the amount the Bhikkustani government would receive in international aid. The amount granted to the Athara Magarati government is as a result of Covonant withdrawing aid to Bhikkustan. The government will grant the financial aid to Athara Magarat for a period of two years in the hope that the Bhikkustani regime will change. Though it is noted that Cooperative Union member states may not provide financial assistance for non Cooperative Union citizens the amount granted by Covonant is specified. A government spokesperson informed.

Covonant is not breaching the treaty in anyway. The amount granted to the Athara Magarati government is financial aid. We are telling them how to spend it, which makes it different. They may choose to spend it on medical supplies or food, clothing or water. We did not give them financial assistance for finding employment or for building infrastructures. The treaty did not say once implied the aid can't be given

Hegemonic Trade Negotiations With Gudao Stalled

Atnaian Economic Development Building, Port Gray

PORT GRAY, ATNA PREFECTURE, ATNAIA - Months of trade discussions with Gudao in the wake of the promulgation of the Second Constitution have apparently reached a stalemate as a result of differing trade goals, confirm HAB insiders this morning. The Quorum, who have been re-discussing many longstanding trade and diplomatic deals with partner nations after the dissolution of Parliament in March, have found strong opposition to change with Gudao, surprising many.

"While our relations with Gudao have been historically strong," says Quorum member Dr. Robert North, "it is that same strength that actually serves as our strongest roadblock in negotiations at the moment. Connections which were mutually beneficial in the time of Parliament continue to pay dividends to Gudao with an equivalent return to Atnaia, given the alterations to our government, policy and direction. While Atnaia has a strong imperative to see former deals inherited from the former administration altered, a similar desire for change does not, and likely will not ever, exist in the hearts of our peers in Gudao. The stalemate, I dare to say, is the first step to some extremely shaky relations in the months to come."

The stalemate has may critics looking strongly at current connections with Gudao, and has caused calls for complete severance and withdrawal from current deals until such a time as Gudao is willing to renegotiate. Foremost among these critics is Daniel Moran-Kingsley, former head of the Atnaian Alliance of Automotive Exporters, who claims that only by threat of complete withdrawal and, perhaps, more forceful action can ground be gained in these discussions.

"Backchannels have not worked," says Moran-Kingsley. "A soft hand has not worked. Only by direct and forceful confrontation can we come to the negotiation table with a strong hand."

Other critics see the stall as good reason to investigate other elements of Atnaian foreign policy in Gudao. Since 2001, dozens of businessmen associated with the Direct Securities Fraud Scandal have been living in Gudao, avoiding Atnaian prosecution. Renegotiation of trade and diplomatic deals has had many victims of the fraud calling for the extradition of these individuals for immediate court action in Atnaia.

"We cannot continue to allow known criminals to roam free simply because we want to avoid offending the sensibilities of an unreliable trade partner," says Helen Ng of the Justice for Santana Trust. "The nature of their crimes may be 'white-collar', but led to as much pain and horror as any action of the worst organized criminals. Silver Branch Club would be uncomfortable associating with these men, yet they are allowed to live lives of luxury due to trade deals? Enough is enough."

While no direct comment has been made fro the Hegemon's office, North's comments suggest an immediate shift in policy is forthcoming. ANN will continue reporting on this story as it develops.

Stocks Rally After Randmar Passes SACNT

Maharaja Nikaya, Rajadhani Anganupa - News of the vested interest President Cole has taken in securing the Southern Canal for Randmarian economic and military use has been met with a positive upswing in the RSE SENSEX, increasing nearly 110 points in the past week. SFG, aka Sansaare Financial Group, which provided Daimen, the Randmarian company building the Southern Canal, with around $100 million in credit, appears to be poised to profit from what many financial analysts are hailing as a sound investment. Other firms and banks are feeling optimistic about SACNT as well, increasing domestic investment expenditure, and investment in Southern Argus and Randmar, while several companies have expressed their hope that the Southern Canal will make trade with Urazawa easier and cheaper.

The high interest rate charged by SFG at 17% at the start of the deal with Daimen resulted in an audit of the deal by the Reserve Bank of Bhumidol, which according to the Brain Trust, the advisory committee overseeing the RBB, has been keeping a watchful eye over the progression of events surrounding the Southern Canal. The Department of Foreign Affairs has reportedly been up to date on developments at the canal by the Randmarian government, but has however declined to offer any information to the press citing that some of the details are a matter of national security. Other details have been redacted from governmental reports on the request of the Randmarian government. Chairman Dubey of the Committee of Foreign Affairs however has assured companies that the transfer of power at the Southern Canal is, "going smoothly".

Election Day Over

In a tough debate over the past year, three candidates, opposed to the usual two, have fought at it. With Libertarian candidate Carson Jenkins in the lead of the popular vote(300,000/750,000), and his other two running mates Republican Debrah Cunningham(250,000/750,000) and Democrat Heath Green(200,000/750,000) right behind him, there is history to be made. The question everyone is wondering in this small country is "What happens next?" MNPS gives an insight on the possible futures of Matat, and the future of Matat.

Carson Jenkins
"Change is needed and yet not needed."
Vice President: Arnold Termin
Carson Jenkins approach to the election is to hear what the Matatians want, making him very popular among people who have their own opinions rather then wanting or not wanting change. He pleases and angers both Republicans and Democrats.

Image
Debrah Cunningham
"We are Matat; We are the people."
Vice President: Marcus Williams
Working with former Republican president Marcus Williams(1995-2004), due to his 9 year presidential career, he is what is helping her most. Appealing to the older people of Matat, there main issues to address are trade and military

Image
Heath Green
"There is a future needed."
Vice President: Margaret Fields
Last years Democratic candidate loser in another close battle between him and John B. Gariet, he lost barely and will need to win over 100,000 in order to win this one. He wants to address issues such as trade and military, of course in a different way then Debrah Cunningham

The Randmar military has been withdrawn from the Denz Canal now that the Canal Authority is operational under Thomas Denz, resuming all of it's regular traffic and charging normal fares for use again. Economic Analysis are saying that the canal should be able to pay for itself in less than a year should it remain fully operational and dedicated to making debt payments. In the meantime the Grey party is celebrating the securing of the canal and improved international trade in the Isles, while stocks around the world rise from the peaceful seizing of assets.

Diplomatically, SANCT has been applaud has a success and conforms well to the nation's foreign policy of improving trade and ensuring the vitality of Randmarian business on the international stage. Internationally SANCT, which was developed with the aid of delegates from around the Isles, has been received well enough and has already been signed by six members. The oversight committee which will be stationed in Athara Magaret is currently being set up, but should soon be operational and preforming it's duty.

Terrible Car Crash in Sığınağı arazi.
There has been a massive car crash in Sığınağı arazi. Four people have died and 17 people are in hospital. A city bus collided with a car head-on. It is unsure how this happened but it is believed that the bus driver fell asleep and the bus drifted into the incorrect lane. The bus then smacked head on into the car. So far the dead are Anarba Udutai, Enx Yesunege, Yesunuva Torganira and Hulegu Teleboge. The police are investigating both vehicles to see if any of the vehicles have been tampered with. A post-mortem report suggests that the bus driver was healthy and was not under the influence of any illicit substances. The security cameras on the bus show the driver leaning on the steering wheel and the bus drifting sideways. There is not much more evidence apart from that. This is the second worst car crash ever and has been named the November Crash.

Refugees From Bhikkustan Invited to Karahar
10,000 Bhikkustani refugees have been allowed into Karahar and over 1000 will be flown into Karahar. Karahar has allowed so many refugees because Bhikkustan is the closest nation in The Western Isles in cultures and people. This means that the Bhikkustanis will not stand out and it will not be a problem fitting in. This decisition has been praised by the residents of Karahar and they are very happy to able to help out the Bhikkustanis.

Land Reforms begin!

Image

Pierre Khalfani has begun his land reform plans that were a huge part of his campaign for president of Moukere. All privately owned land shall be confiscated by the state and collectivised, all workers shall be able to keep their jobs. The army has gone with the government collectors, to stop people who resist the collections. This will remove subsistence agriculture and replace it with centralised mass agriculture which will then have its products redistributed among the people. Critics have claimed that this will cause mass starvation and a lack of food produced, and that the land owned by the Huyti, Kilmenge and Twaka people is being targeted while Koto land is being kept by the land owners. Already there have been small but violent protests in the streets which have been suppressed by the National Guard.

Callumstan Votes Yes

The votes have been tallied and confirmed and Callumstan have voted yes to joining the Co-operative Union. Despite having already officially been a member for over a month, the people of Callumstan had to confirm the nation's inclusion into the union. Callumstanians voted 54 to 46 percent in favour of joining the union, with ys voters being concentrated in the south and the east and no voters in the north and west.

Labour President John Morris heiled this result as a "a major victory for Callumstanians" and heralded the "new future in foreign policy." Conservative leader Richard Sanchez has vowed to fight against this decision calling it "a con sold to the populace by a deceitful Government" and committed the Conservatives to "fighting to reserve this decision." However the opposition leader may face an uphill battle, as both the leaders of the NNP and the Republican party, who opposed the decision, have vowed to "respect democracy" and to "support the Government" in joining the union.

The constitution will officially be amended next week, confirming Callumstans place in the Co-operative Union, and as the Government hopes, confirming the nations place as a powerful international player.

NEW ORANISTAN AND KARAHAR TO WARM UP RELATIONS+MORE STORIES!
Today President Ashraf Omar and The Leader of Karahar signed a Free Trade Agreement whom Oranistanians Dubbed 'The Friendship Trade Agreement' nobody knows why they dubbed it this, but they say they did it because this is the beginning of a friendship between the two nations. An Oranistani Embassy has been established in Karahar's Capitol as well as a Karaharian Embassy being Established in Al-Assad. This is only the second Embassy in New Oranistan as the country has failed or not tried at all to warm up relations with others in TWI. President Omar said this regarding the Free Trade Agreement
Our nation has not had the best of improvements, but we hope that this FTA will help boost our economy and Karahar's economy as well. We are improving relations from neutral to maybe ally. We hope that, Our Country and Karahar, enter an age of prosperity together.
No Oranistani Citizen understood why he said that, but they didn't question him. Embassies have also been established between Covonant and New Oranistan.

In other news today is the day that many Oranistanian Citizens have been waiting for: The S.A. Act or The Shia Acceptance Act. For many years Shia Citizens have been discriminated against but today they are finally able to get jobs in basic markets such as retail, fast food, and others. It's not great but at least they have some jobs now. This bill was almost scrapped but thankfully it wasn't. As news of this new legislation spreads Shia Citizens have gotten jobs instead of fully relying on Welfare and Shia Accepting Supermarkets (Close to none). Today they can get jobs and shop at any store as it is now illegal to discriminate against them. However some businesses are exempt from this and the C.O.R. are working so that it is completely illegal to refuse them jobs.

President Lindsay Abelló Announces Corindi Commitment to Integrating Refugees

Image
President Abelló at a rally earlier today

Our nation is a nation of immigrants! It is our duty, as a people, and as a nation, to continue this proud tradition, this tradition of our forefathers, and embrace the embattled Bhikkustani refugees who have been forced by war and privation to leave their ancestral homes. We must offer them the same providence and opportunity that our ancestors first found when they first landed on our shores. There is no question in my mind that integration will not come immediately, but it will come eventually, through spilled blood and hard work. I know that many of you have doubts about this, but I implore you to think of Corindia. Corindia is a nation of no race, no creed, and no religion, only citizens, and when someone decides to become a Corindi citizen, they become your brother. We must all support each other so that this nation does not fall to the forces of division and corruption

-Lindsay Abelló, President of the Democratic States of Corindia.

A Warm Reception for Bhikkustani Refugees

19:43 - Hours ago when the flight carrying the 858 Bhikkustani refugees arrived in Aghya-Tamarai International, LoL and much of the rest of the Bhumhalese websphere was flooded with pictures and details of the refugees.

Image

Amongst the more than 800 refugees, around 200 were Bhikkustani nurses who left their country due to deteriorating economic and political conditions. People across LoL have applauded a video uploaded by a group of these nurses expressing their gratitude to the Bhumhalese people and the nation.

"I'm certain that these fine young women won't face much trouble fitting in with Bhumahalese society", said one elderly user on LoL. Many other younger LoLers commented on the beautiful traditional wear that the women wore, noting that it didn't appear to be too different Bhumhalese traditional clothing.

Besides a sizeable group of nurses, other notable members of this group of Bhikkustani refugees include 5 former university professors, 3 dozen programmers, and a dozen economists. Most people on LoL have expressed a combination of awe of and hopefulness in regards to the refugees, hoping that they will help improve their new home nation.

Ganaraja Bodhai, along with 16 members of the Rajya Sabha are expected to meet with the refugees later this evening to personally welcome whole group to Bhumidol and provide a run down on their procedure to become citizens, and to make them aware off the amnenities the government is offering while the refugees adjust to life in Bhumidol.

Fresh from San Javier, Secretary of State Falkwyn Hyde is on his way to Carpestan, a historic ally of Keomora in order to discuss negotiations with TALON, or Trade Among Liberally Orientation Nations. In an interview Mr. Hyde proclaimed that strengthening economic relations will be beneficial for the Empire's future..

TALON is beneficial not only for the Empire but for every member involved. By lowering Tariffs and securing free trade it will ultimately strengthen us economically and diplomatically.

The Agujam Horses Defeat the Toghur Hawks
Yesterday the Agujam Horses defeated the Toghur Hawks in a thrilling match of rugby. The Horses started well with a great kick, reclaiming the ball and running away to score an early try. The Hawks struck back with some incredible defence. They then stole the ball and began a great drive to the try line. They scored the try and the half-time whistle blew, 7-7. The Horses took the kick well but were shut down by the Hawk defence. The Horses were running down the clock and when the full-time whistle blew, it was still 7-7. The Horses were slowly gaining ground using pick-and-gos to their advantage. They then passed it out wide and ran forwards but were held up. The Horses were expected to win but after a hotly contested scrum a penalty was given. To the Hawks! The Hawks took a quick tap and sprinted down the wing. Kara Enebish was going to be caught when he kicked the ball all the way to the other wing. Tatatunga Buri of the Hawks caught the ball and scored the try. The crowd went wild and the game has been recorded as the most exciting game of Karaharian history.

Sukhebaatar Beats Udutai Flawlessly
Yesterday Sukhebaatar faced Udutai in an archery contest, to decide who would be the Karahar archery champion. This was expected to be an incredibly close match, but Sukhebaatar won in an epic upset. The first round was close, Sukhebaatar struggled to get all of his six points needed to win the round. The next round was far less close, as Sukhebaatar doubled Udutai's points. The third round was far more close. The final result was 6-5. Sukhebaatar only won by one point. This was a massive upset and has caused quite a stir.

Basic Archery Rules
The Karahar Archery Union (KAU) has made a strict set of rules that all contests must follow: The matches are best out of three sets. Every set if first to six wins in a round. Every round's result is decided by whoever gets closer to the bull'seye. Both archers must shoot from the same spot and both archers must use a similar bow (as in someone with a traditional bow will face someone with a traditional bow, and vice versa for Compound bows).

HISTORIC TALON NEGOTIATIONS BEGIN

Image

TODAY marked the first day of the historic TALON trade negotiations between representatives from Carpestan, Covonant, Aglos Estra, Ipland, Perawin, and Keomora. The meeting took place inside closed doors in one of the larger offices inside the Femryk Administrative Building, with President Rodgers and Minister Romanga spearheading the talks. After nearly ten hours of deliberation, the officials came out and returned to their hotels, only to be barraged by a number of journalists. Only Minister Romanga and Keomoran Secretary of State had actually scheduled press conferences for today regarding the TALON negotiations.

Minister Romanga answered questions for about ten minutes regarding the specific nature of today's negotiations, saying:

Our discussions today were very fruitful and productive, with not an inkling of hostility. We were primarily focused on making sure that we understood each other's economic situations i.e. our large industries, imports, exports, etc. We are trying to figure out what would be the best long-term approach based on our countries' respective situations.

The talks are expected to conclude in about a week's time.

In Athara Magarat's capital New Libang, a new GIGA superstore's construction has just commenced. Delayed by regulations and international politics, the company finally managed to secure a permit to construct a megastore in the heart of the capital. Before this, several GIGA stores were one of many tenants in the malls in the country.

The construction is expected to bring jobs but also loss. It is rumored that some GIGA mall stores in the country will close to provide some assets to the new megastore.

Minister of Finance and Commerce hails introductory TALON negotiations successful

Image
Minister of Finance and Commerce

The Minister of Finance and Commerce Archibald Steel is expressing that the first rounds of negotiation at the Trade Among Liberally Oriented Nations (TALON) has been successful. Speaking on KCC44 FM the Minister expresses that Covonant is in a position to reap from the benefits that this organisation is able to provide.

So far, the first day of talks have been cooperative and successful. Covonant expressed our concerns relating to how much being a part of this organisation would not lead to any trade imbalances that may be upsetting to our commitment to the Cooperative Union but we have been assured that that incident would not occur. We have more talks in the coming days ahead but so far I have identified the benefits that Covonant and all the other parties are expected to gain, and in fact if all is well this could be a very strong and powerful trading bloc as most of the nations involved are strong economically

The Minister noted that talks will continue into next week which he promises to provide meaningful report.

Ambassador to Moukere concerned on the local government land reform initiative

Image
Countryside in Moukere

Covonantian Ambassador to Moukere Her Excellency Mrs. Amanda Antwert is expressing concerns over the Moukeri government's proposal on land reform. She expresses while she is not objecting to land reforms, she notes that the country at this time cannot afford to make such moves.

Moukere is a underdeveloped country, and they need to vigorously invest in and improve their agricultural base. With the proposal of land reforms it is going to lead to a low productivity in agricultural products and which will in effect lead to great starvation. This is the natural trend that had happened throughout history, in fact Covonant in the mid 18th century had to deal with levels of starvation as a result of anemic land reform policies which prompted our fight for independence.

Ambassador Antwert is cautioning to Moukeri government to desist from undertaking such proposals as its result will be catastrophic. She also expressed that in any negative eventuality Covonant would be unwilling to lend assistance.

I am imploring that the government stop from carrying on this policy that will have dire effects in the end. What the Moukeri government should focus on is charting a path to sustainable development. In any eventuality that our predictions and predictions made by academics within the field of agricultural studies and policy management are true I would advise the Covonantian government to reduce assistance.

No government official from Covonant has commented on the matter relating to Moukere.

Covonantian International Development Fund, may consider relief funding for Bhikkustan

Image

Following the Covonantian government decision to withdraw financial aid to Bhikkustan, the Covonantian International Development Fund (CIDF) has expressed its intent on filling the gap left by the Covonantian governent. Speaking on CBC financial programme MoniTalk, Chief Financial Officer for the Fund Mr. Simon Stewart noted that if Bhikkustan was to receive assistance, they would have to follow few structural adjustments guidelines.

We are interested to assist the Bhikkustani government because we understand that financially they are struggling. The amount the Covonantian government had withdrew has significantly affected the government in carrying out its duties. I personally think that to withdraw financial assistance was not a calculated decision especially at this time. The CIDF wants to alleviate those pressures by providing financial grants and technical support to the country but that can only be done if Bhikkustan is willing to adjust its economic policies and provide more financing to its social programmes.

Mr. Stewart noted that Bhikkustan would have to make its economy more open in order to better earn from investments to meet the needs of its people.

In order for the Bhikkustani government to cater to its people, it would have to make its economy more open to investments and not just from Communist or Socialist countries but Capitalist countries as well, because those are the drivers of growth. And me saying this is not to change the philosophy of the Bhikkustani government but its to assist in them meeting the needs of the people. It is no doubt that years of anemic growth and unsound fiscal mismanagement of government budget and the economy has led to one of the worst humanitarian crisis that the isles has ever known. The government of Bhikkustan needs to address its problems and I believe the international community must be demanding of the government to deal with its problem. The CIDF is willing to assist them with the first stage. But there will have to be the opening up of the country's markets, allowing of investors to be able to invest in key areas and sectors of the country, also an increase in health, education, and social services and welfare to critically meet the needs of the people.

The Covonantian International Development Fund was created with the mandate of assisting underdeveloped and developing countries in the Western Isles with loan financing, technical support, government issued grants and development aid packages. The Fund is not owned by any one government but rather contributing states and borrowing member states government. each state is represented by a board of directors, which is reflective of the amount that the Fund has at its disposal and the amount of stakes a country has in the Fund.

Do remember you are with the CBC.
