Second Emergency Council Meeting Called as More are Detained
Earlier this morning, news outlets in Upper Norseland claimed that 6 more Muslims were captured as they tried to flee the country. Within an hour of the story being posted, every city saw hundreds of Taziristanis take to the streets in protest of the executions and of Upper Norseland itself. As the protests unfolded, police uncharacteristically stood by- and even joined in- as Norse flags were burnt, chants shouted, and traffic was blocked. While the Mayors of Port Dergo and Adam Ruh called for calm, the Islamic Guard did nothing to stop the protests.
As anger begins to rise, more protesters are expected to appear, especially after dark. Usually, the Islamic Guard would have already cleared the streets and forced a curfew upon hot spots like Port Dergo, Adam Ruh, and Tazir. However, many police officers have been seen burning flags of their own and firing their weapons at sketches and badly made effigies of King Ulfred. Remarkably, no businesses have been damaged and there has been no reported trouble from protesters when told to clear a street for traffic.
Despite the protests, there has been little word from the Palace in Adam Ruh, where an emergency meeting has been called of all senior members of government. The stated purpose was to "discuss all actions that could be taken to ensure that these executions are dealt with appropriately." However, the President's office did put out a statement asking all members of the public to cease attempts to contact or secure safe passage for any family or friends in Upper Norseland.
In the meantime, the trials for the six Muslims should begin sometime today.
