Private Food Company Peoré Marred by Contaminated Food


The Knarinian Health and Safety Department (KHSD) found that some of Peoré's beef was contaminated with Salmonella.

One of Knarinia's largest private companies, Peoré, was hit by another scandal involving the health and safety of their products. The Knarinian Health and Safety Department (KHSD) found that some of their beef was contaminated with Salmonella. Peoré is worth approximately 1.2 billion Lolad Zlilbs, though their worth is falling after previous scandals similar in nature. Peoré is popular throughout Knarinia, especially Naria.
Previous problems with Peoré include traces of lactose in their supposedly lactose free products in July 2015, and cockroaches found in their soft drinks that same month. To try to improve their reputation, they started a blood drive in August, but improperly tested the blood donated for HIV. No less than twenty-six lawsuits have been filed against them for those three events. This current scandal has caused Peoré to recall five thousand units of beef.
The Knarinian High Chairwoman Yasmin Khadijah Koury called these scandals "disgraceful" and said that "none of the government-owned companies have ever had this type of scandal happen." Speaker of the Legislature Ella Klein said that "this is definitely a problem," but that this could be fixed with stricter regulations on business.
Peoré CEO Martin F. Bosse could not be reached out to for comment.

UPDATE: Martin Bosse has resigned from Peoré following what he calls an "embarrassing" moment for his company.
SECOND UPDATE: Two more board members have resigned after this incident. In a press release Peoré stated the new CEO is Philip Eichelberger.

Praise the Gods, Its Actually Good!
Hermes: God of Speed Redeems Failing Superhero Franchise
A Spoiler-Filled Review

In this age of reboots and remakes, its easy to get jaded when we see yet another crappy superhero flick get rehashed for the umpteenth time in an effort to keep the rights in the studio's name. Especially when that movie has the name "Hermes" attached to it. Who can forget the box office flop that was 2003's "Hermes God of Speed", with its crappy effects and half-written plot? Or 2012's Hermes", an attempt to reboot the film series with a funnier, more-comicy feel, which failed so hard it left even die-hard fans believing that the Atnaian superhero movie genre was dead? When the first teaser trailer for this year's "Hermes: God of Speed" (note the colon to differentiate from 2003's version), the nation let out a collective groan. Another one? Really?

Right off the bat, let me put something to rest. This movie freaking rocked. I have never, in all my days, seen a superhero movie stay as true to the comics while still being a goddamn awesome thrill-ride. This movie redeems the Starlight Studios ECI, the studio responsible for all Blackout Comics movies, for everything they have put us through over the past three years. Forget the shitstorm that was "Yellowsash". Let "Annie Warlock" disappear from your mind. "Hermes: God of Speed" actually makes me believe in superheroes again in a way I haven't since childhood. That's the review. Everything from here on is spoilers, so if you haven't seen it yet, go to your nearest theater and watch it before you get screwed out of the plot.

Right from the very beginning, we see that this is going to be a different movie from what we are used to. Instead of focusing on college-aged dork William Quick, like the last two tries did, this movie throws us back to the dawn of time, and we see the most awesome opening battle scene of any movie ever, as the gods from nearly every major world mythology of ages past duke it out. And this is not a bunch of guys in period costumes thrusting swords at each other. In the first thirty seconds, you see why this movie had the budget it did. You do not know pleasure until you have watched a six-story-tall Thor punch a Zeus made out of lightning in his smug face.

Entire cities are little more than stepping stones for the gods, who seem ready to end all life on earth in their war. Meanwhile, Hades is unlocking some sort of gate to a bizarre, twisted netherrealm. This is some real horror-movie stuff for a bit, not your Grandma's superhero movie. Zipping through the absolute massacre we follow Hermes. And I mean the original Hermes. This guy is moving so fast, even the short glimpses of him seem to be bending the light around him. It's a really neat effect to represent speed, and hard to describe. You just have to see it for yourself.

However, just before Hermes can land a decisive blow on old nemesis Hades, who has successfully released the Lovecraftian Old Gods, something even more powerful than the gods shows up, and we get a quick explanation that the gods have been locked away from the mortal realm since that day, unable to fully manifest and only able to offer a small portion of their power to champions on earth. Flash forward to dorky William Quick.

To be honest, this next part is the weakest part of the film, as we've seen it before. Here's the uber-nerd, always studying, always late for things. Blah blah blah. Luckily, the movie speeds through the initial character development in only a short time, and we skip to something new. Clearly, the film was taking hints from Hoskin Donnely's amazing "Hermes Origins" run here, as we see William's uncle Ted battling a shadowy entity as an old, gray Hermes. This is not something we have seen before, as previous films refused to pay homage to the original run of Hermes from WWII till the 1970s, and instead pretended that William was the first Hermes. Here, we see an older, wiser hero battle, with all of the skills and powers of a god under his belt.

And he loses. Hard. This is one of the most brutal fights I've ever seen in superhero films. Picture Oldboy with superspeed. This was absolute wildness, as Ted is wrecked by this shadowy creature, soon revealed to be a servant of an old Hermes villain called the Strange Lady. We saw a brief glimpse of the Lovecraftian spellcaster in the post-credit scene of the first Hermes film, but never like this. Dana Munroe absolutely exudes a bizarre combination of sexiness and absolute vileness, as she utilizes Lovecraftian horrors as weapons. Her performance might be one of the best female villains I have ever seen. You get the sense immediately that she is not only crazy, but absolutely unstoppable.

Ted is brought to a hospital, where he bequeaths his power to transform into Hermes to his nephew and asks him to find his killer and stop her before she rips open a hole to something that nothing can stop. The suggestion here is that her Lovecraftian horrors are only the start. We see William learning to control his speed, facing off against street thugs before finally hunting down the Strange Lady.

This is where the movie rally shines, as we get the twist: Hermes is too late. The Strange Lady has won and released what she hoped to release...not the Old Gods, but Hades. And he has taken her as his vessel. The bare-knuckle, balls-to-the-wall brawl that follows is wild, literally crossing continents as Strange Lady-Hades teleports around and Hermes is forced to run faster and faster to stop her from just eliminating life.

In the end, Hermes manages to force Hades back through the gate, and we are left thinking that the world is saved. That is, until a post-credit scene that introduces us to a young woman in battlegear reminiscent to superheroine Warqueen, who finds a strange lady washed up on a beach...

This movie is an effects masterpiece, really playing with a variety of interesting ways of showing the various powers at play. Hermes' speed is obviously at the fore, but Strange Lady's monsters and Hades' shadow manipulation also really stand out. The dialogue retains Hermes' quirky comedy stylings while not slipping into camp. And the performances. Oh god the performances. I can not speak too highly of these actors. They clearly just knew exactly what they were doing and ran with it.

If I have one criticism, it's that the film's pacing feels a little off, ironically. The first act drags a bit, while the last act feels a bit rushed. This can be forgiven, though, as the action from the second half of the movie onwards totally is enough to redeem some of the pacing issues.

All in all, this is a fantastic superhero film, and a must see.

In an announcement moment ago, President Sebastian Gloyd is ordering most of the navy and a large number of both donated and commandeered vessels filled with aid amounting to almost 1 billion dollars worth of medical supplies, food, water, and communication equipment.

The Government signs off on aid to Bhikkustan

After an update from Bhikkustan expressing the devastating aftermath of the eruption of the Mount Marasthra volcano that occurred 3 days ago, the country has been left powerless, and the air filled with ash. The death toll following the volcanic eruption has been estimated at 100,000 (Bhikkustan sources).

With pleas from Bhikkustan requesting aid from various nations, the Union being the first nation to acknowledge their plight, has its fleet the UCS Medicus, the Unions Hospice ship that provides medical assistance on route to the country with 145 of the Unions medical doctors, nurses, and practitioners onboard to assist the people of Bhikkustan alongside the local and other foreign government aid workers. Over 500 million crowns worth of food and medical items are also being brought to the country by government approved Covonantian relief and aids organisation, such as the Covish Cares Society, and the UCAID (Union of Covonant Aid and International Development) organisation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with the Office of the Prime Minister is working out a long term plan in how to assist with the rebuilding of the nation's infrastructure. 150 million crowns have been allocated from the Covonantian International Welfare trust to assist with the provision and rebuilding of critical institutions within the society such as schools, hospitals, and homes for the citizens of Bhikkustan.

The Covonantian International Welfare Trust is a government agency that provides monetary assistance to assist nations in need for infrastructural and agricultural purposes.

As the century old bell-tower within Yaaran's main square chimes her melodous tones at 12:00AM, it is met with the sounds of cheering and music. The streets are alit with celebrations, lights, fireworks, and music streaming from the closely knit neighborhoods across the capital. For any outsiders or onlookers from any other nations, it is an unusual and confusing spectacle. For the people on the other hand, is a different story.

"This marks the first day Raelor stands united!" Screams nationalist leader Terua Lasvayan, his podium at the head of a sea of previously faction warriors, now celebrating. "After centuries of struggle and toil, Raelor is together, as one! One people, not just clashing factions, not just a crippled lamb! We awake from our great slumber, reborn!"

Raelor, for the first time in over 7 Centuries, is united under one banner once more. It is unclear what exactly the new government will be like, but the leader is certain. After his firey rhetoric before the millions of Raelorians, it is clear that Terua will be leading the nation. His leadership was the same leadership who had brought down the entire faction/caste system riddled within the split nations across Raelor. With this new government formed, he immidatly has reached out to the closest region, The western Isles, for support and diplomatic relations. On Saturday the Triple Six corporation approved the final design for the upcoming Donné Mega Mall located in the new un developed province of the PPU. The mall will house over 1000 stores and has the potential to fit a whopping 1350 stores at its maximum capacity. Earlier this month, Triple Six held a expo where architects proposed concepts for the upcoming mall and Sota Nakahara's design was announced the winner Friday and was officially approved Saturday.

The Donné Mall with Nakahara's design will be home to the Donné Aquarium & Underwater Zoo with thousands of aquatic animals. Other family entertainment components include KidMania®, an innovative children’s ‘edutainment’ concept; Scream Republic, a 90,000 sq ft high adrenaline indoor theme park; the 25-screen AMC Cinemas megaplex with a total capacity of 2,900 seats; the Olympic-sized Donné Ice Rink; a real fossil of a 155-million year old dinosaur; and a one million sq ft area known as "Fashion Avenue" which will feature modern retail, signature leisure, luxury serviced apartments, and a range of hospitality choices. A airport will also be built near the mall and connecting the two will be a monorail.

Earlier this month many high end luxury fashion brands held shows in Amérique (The fashion capital of the Isles) While many trends flopped, one stood out and is rapidly spreading around the nation. "2050" is the name of the line and the company responsible Chardonn says that by using trends and data from past years they were able to accurately predict what fashion will look like in the year 2050. Millions of people have already purchased clothes from their line and can be seen wearing them around the nation. Some examples will be included below.



A team of researchers from Chauveau University have unveiled a device that can be plugged into a smartphone and used to quickly test for HIV and syphilis. The mobile device tests for three infectious-disease markers in just 10-15 minutes by using a finger-prick of blood, and draws all the power it needs from the smartphone. The accessory costs an estimated $30 to make and is capable of replicating tests done in a laboratory using equipment that costs many thousands of dollars. Because it can be easily used in remote and impoverished areas, like rural Africa, it is hoped the small but effective smartphone accessory will save millions of lives from sexually transmitted diseases. It will be OTC as well once Unité pharmaceuticals begins production in late February. The medical giant purchased the design from the students and put them in charge of production.

Wrapping up todays news report is the Red Dove and their work in Xrevaro. Currently the organization is educating the lower class and distributing portable generators. Just this week they finished construction of the Scralett community college in honor of international pop star Scarlett who donated 200,000 dollars to the cause. This building will survive on donations and offer free classes to the lower class citizens of Xrevaro. Former professors/teachers, current professors/teachers, and normal everyday people are all welcome to volunteer at the college.

Sharing the Wealth - Making History, Making Friends

Today marks a monumental day in our nation's history, as after years of preperation, the GRCP National Government has begun accepting international investment, involvement, and establishment of businesses upon our nation's soil. The International Commerce Zones, or ICZs are federal land grants with relaxed corporate regulation, designed to encourage investors from other nations to bring their businesses to the GRCP. BREAKING: Power Outage in Narica Cuts Off Power to Over Two Million People

At 9:49 AM Knarinian Standard Time, a power outage in the Knarinian capital city of Narica and the surrounding areas, including most of Naria and parts of Karthon, affected over two million people. The blackout is ongoing, and the government has issued a travel advisory because traffic lights are not working. Reports are still coming in and this story will continue updating until the power outage ends. The source of the blackout has not yet been identified.

Oil Tanker Shot, 12 Killed

Today an Oil Tanker was shot by a group of radical environmentalists who call themselves the "Nationalist Environmental League". The oil tanker exploded killing 12 people and injuring 64. 18 terrorists were jailed and it is estimated that more will be found over time. The NEL has been declared an illegal terrorist organisation by the Stralendese National Assembly.



Another group of NEL radicals murdered 8 oil workers later that day and attempted to blow up and oil rig although they failed to do so due to a combined effort by the police and the oil rig guards. All 9 NEL radicals involved in this incident were killed in the defence of the oil rig.

Further NEL attacks on oil rigs and oil workers are expected and security is being tightened across the nation. Oil workers are now being escorted by armed police guards and kown environmentalists throughout the country are being searched and investigated for possible links to the NEL.

Government of Samadhi Takes Residency in Bhumidol; Landmark Omnibus Bhikkustan Act Passed in Parliament

In an unusual act of unity, the Bhumhalese Parliament overwhelmingly passed the FAPBA, "Foreign Appropriations and Policy on Bhikkustan Act". The passage of the act, which took many in the nation by surprise following Bhumhalese New Year, is considered by many political and economic analysts as both an unusual and paramount act in expanding Bhumhalese-Bhikkustani relations.

Among many of the components of the nation's first omnibus act in nearly three decades, the most glaring was the vacation of three floors of Sivaputhangam Palace, (normally used by federal government agencies which have been temporarily relocated) which the FAPBA has temporarily appropriatted as the sovereign territory of the Buddhist Republic of Bhikkustan by request of Samadhi. Ultra-nationalist factions of the ruling National Peace & Progress Party, whom social analysts predicted would flare at this particular sanction of the omnibus act where surprisingly quiet on the matter, perhaps revealing a sense of percieved cultural-religious unity between the two countries.

The act amongst other things has immediattly sanctioned $12 billion worth of aid for Bhikkustan, including with it 15,000,000 tons of food, enough to feed the Bhikkustani population for close to half a year, along with half-a-billion in medical supplies, administered along with ~2,000 doctors and nurses from Bhumidol.

Dulecé To Begin Shipping New Line of Jewelry

Dulecé has unveiled their newest line of jewelry, the Producé Collection. Dulucé has worked with various technology and personal technology companies across the Isles in order to develop the newest models, which intertwine technology and jewelry together. Dulucé is one of the largest producers of jewelry in the Isles, and their design team has been working tirelessly for two years to develop this line. As Jeanie Dules, CEO of Dulecé says, "Jewelry is personal. Now, we have intertwined beauty and technology into one fluid collection. Producé." The collection has been highly anticipated for the past year, and had already sold over a million units before the initial shipping date, January 30.

The collection consists of multiple elements: a smart watch deemed Chronos, a line or rings named the Envision set, and necklaces and bracelets that make up the Avití set. Each product can be ordered in multiple types, which include Dulecé , Original, and Minimé. Almost every set is reminiscent of the initial line put out by the company, known as the Dulecé Collection.

All settings are adjustable from the Envision app. Chronos watches will be available for in-store purchase across the Isles on January 31, and will be released to stores in Dashgrinaar a day earlier.

The Envision rings are sync-able to most phones, and glow different colors to represent text messages, phone calls, etc. which are all adjustable from the Envision app. The gilded rings start from $400, and 18kt gold rings start from $5000.

Avití necklaces posses no technology in them, but are quite beautiful. They start at $800 and are constructed of 18kt gold and precious stones. Avití bracelets are able to track steps, calories, heartbeat, etc. in a slim and elegant design. They start at $150.

17 NEL members captured, NEL base destroyed

Today 17 NEL members who are believed to have been involved in yesterdays terror attacks have been captured.

The groups leader revealed the location of the main NEL base. The base was located on a small island off of the north coast. The military captured the base at 8:04 this morning. 89 NEL members were captured and 244 were killed.

This means that the NEL may have over 1000 members as many captured NEL members said there were other bases but did not know/refused to tell their location. The military and police are currently searching for other NEL bases.

The NEL were alarmingly well armed suggesting they may be funded by a foreign power or corporation.

San Eulogio steps out of diplomatic isolationism!

Our nation has stepped out of several decades of isolationism with a formal request to establish an embassy in the Principality and United Duchies of Atnaia, which is currently in a period of internal turmoil partly caused by the death of it's late ruler several days ago. Minister of Foreign Affairs Bonifacio Perdomo of the Partido Nacional said "This is the first in a series of formal requests to establish embassies with other states aswell as the beginning of a more open San Eulogio on the diplomatic stage." When asked by our journalist why the government has chosen Atnaia as the location of San Eulogio's first embassy, Mr. Perdomo stated "Antaia is located in an area vital for the expansion of trade with other nations in the region south-west of the canal. We also wish to stabilise the situation by giving Antaia the possibility to make new friends aswell as new business partners to increase the wealth of both our countries."

San Eulogio has followed a policy of diplomatic isolationism ever since the end of the military junta, and while president Enrique Brabandera already promised the end of this policy during the elections in 2012, it became one of several policies not pushed through by the new administration due to political tension between the Partido Nacional and the Partido Conservador about the presidency of Enrique Brabandera and the legacy of his father Nicolás Brabandera, who was the first democratically elected president after he abolished the military junta and founded the Partido Conservador. Several important CEOs, including Alberto Viglis, already commented positively on the end of isolationism in San Eulogio. "With the end of the 'Era of Isolationism' in our country, we can finally increase the exports of San Eulogian agricultural produce which has been under heavy pressure of protectionist policies by other countries these past few decades" Alberto Viglis stated.

I.D. Government Calls for Blockade

The I.D. oligarchy today published a resolution declaring and defining I.D. waters. The oligarchy refuses New Aaeplistan and Eurania access to the I.D. waters, in addition to all "Empire countries." The leadership asked for the Vancouvian navy to enforce these orders until such time as the I.D. can procure a sufficient fleet of their own. The Vancouvian Congress agreed to enforce the resolution under the condition that the I.D. government adopts the Vancouvian cove as their primary currency.

The Vancouvian National Army dispatched roughly half of its fleet to patrol I.D. waters. This occurs as VNA and VSF troop levels continue to decline as more and more forces return home.

In a symbolic gesture of friendship, the I.D. raised the Vancouvian flag next to its own at the Capitol, while the Army did the same at Camp Plymouth.

Construction is underway on New Megalopolis' new metro system. Completion of such system is due to be completed later this week.

Some have questioned why the Emperor has requested that a line would be built specifically for his palace, and why there is a metro station specifically for the observatory.

The metro trains themselves are to be built using the latest technology, with electric underground trains and solar-powered overground trains.

In other news, the rebel group "Free Renewed Arcadia" made a large-scale attack on the nation's strict border control checkpoints, killing thirteen people in an explosion in the south of the country.

Government Announces New Rail System!

Today, the government announced a new project that has been being planned for many months now. Ventlimer, along with a Franco company, has announced a 10 billion dollar deal to connect every city in Ventlimer with both passenger and freight lines, even extending up to the mines in Mount Kilohattan.

This, along with the nearly completed rebuild from the attacks a couple weeks ago, has been some of the largest spending in Infrastructure since the 1990's, when the project was announced to be sure that all roads in Ventlimer were Asphalt, rather than the Gravel some outlying communities and Lumbering towns had seen.

"We are pleased to aid Ventlimer in its continued modernization," a Franco spokesperson said.

The rail line will not only help the economy by providing faster and cheaper options of transportation, but help low income Ventlimians to travel over large parts of the country in a matter of 1-2 hours once moving.
