EPC cuts off trade with the west, gives green light to increase military spending, public healthcare cost increases

The EPC has oficially cut off all trade with the west of The Western Isles, particular nations Eurania has heated relations with, such as Miklania, Doppler, and Franco-Albion. This was in response into embargoements placed on Eurania by various nations in the west. Ships from countries that were embargoed on were impounded by the Euranian Coast Guard (ECG).

The EPC has also permitted the increase in military spending. This is to develop weapons capable of the abilities of the western equipment and modernise the Euranian military. Particular corporations that received an increase were Mykarov, Yukrash, Zyklom, and partially JPRL and Odyssey.

Mikronin, Eurania's chief pharmaceutical corporation, has increased their public healthcare cost. This is due to the embargoements on Eurania, which hit the medical sector hard. Mikronin and the government will no longer provide treatments for smokers, alchohol addicts, and drug addicts. This is also a move to eliminate the illegal drug consumers without publicize force.

In her first public appearance since the visit to Dashgrinaar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer announced today that the Kingdom of Kamieniec Podolski will be removed from the list of hostile nations - Meaning Oster citizens would be able to visit the Kingdom without permission from the Ministry of the Interior. In related news - The United Socialist States of Eurania, in light of its recent actions and its hostility towards nations such as Miklania, was added to the list of hostile nations. When asked about this, Minister Brahurer said that this is an issue handled by the Ministry of Defense and by the Oster security services.

Emergancy Precautions!!

Today following the Pacifier statement above, the Biological Containment Units have deployed themselves all over the boarder regions of the Doman-PPU boarder. They have even sent word out to Doman troops currently combating PPU-Troops off in the west.

The idea of the Pacific Peace Union using Biological weapons in the current war has scared the government. They have issued gas masks to all soldiers and a number to civilians all across the boarders. So much so that they ran out of modern ones and have resorted to surplus Gas Masks from nearly 30 years ago. Areas have been marked as shelters and a strict curfew has been enacted to keep people off the streets during certain hours of the day. Air raid sirens have gone up to alert the populace of an incoming attack and the emergency broadcasting system is ready to broadcast a broadband signal to all devices.

Never have the people been in this much of a panic. Doman troops have been dispatched at haste with 10,000 more reinforcements to try and end the current conflict before Bio-Weapons are used.

Nuclear Submarines collide, Eurania begins whale hunt

ENSS Red Unbroken, ENSS Leviathan, and a New Aapelistani nuclear submarine, NANV Red Vengeance collided in the eastern Kavju Sea. According to a Euranian sailor onboard Leviathan, Red Unbroken scrapped the port side of Leviathan while Red Vengeance dented the hull of both Euranian subs. As the three subs surfaced to inspect damage, they noted no one was injured and no radiation was released at the incident. It is unknown why the subs, two carrying ballistic missiles and one carrying cruise missiles, could no detect each other, however, it is possible as SSBMs are designed for stealth. When asked about this, the EN has stated "This is a incident out of the ordinary. It is not serious." All three ships returned safely to port on their own power.

Photographer unveils a big problem

It is no secret the environment in the Pacific Peace Union is bad, in fact it is one of the worst region wide. The reason? Industry and urbanization are much more important than a few trees and animals to the majority of the population. This has allowed for expanding, highly modern metropolises, but a ghastly and deadly environment. Usually the Further south you go the worst the environment gets because;
• Most major cities are located north so all the chemicals and trash are brought far down south
• Most fracking sites and major oil drilling locations are located in the south
• It was the site of most agriculture during the late 18th through the early 20th century so it has been overused

Truman Travers, a photographer from Amérique traveled to the major environmental disaster regions around the PPU. He placed them all in his book out now called "The Consequences of Man". We will be able to provide you with three of the hundreds of photos found in his book.

Surprisingly when asked if they were concerned over the PPU's environmental issues citizens of Versailles, and Voyaguer both answered very differently

This is largely due to the fact that Versailles has barely any pollution just like Amérique, Rivíere, and Annuaire (mostly due to large government efforts to keep the cities squeaky clean)

While Voyaguer is heavily polluted, so bad lung cancer is predominant in the Voyaguer region.

President Antionette is famous for her efforts to fix this issue however she is constantly shot down by the First Estate. She plans on trying again later this winter as she is working closely with other nations to slow down the PPU's horrible handling with nature.

All Quiet on the I.D. Front

Today marks the first 24 hour period in which no Vancouvian or allied soldier was killed or injured in the International District. Although two skirmishes were reported by Vancouvian command, there were no casualties to note.

VNN journalist Lisa Menoli was on the streets of the city today talking with local business owners, some of whom were beginning to tear down their barricaded windows and resume their business. "The city has completely transformed since the Vancs got here," said Martin Wallows, the owner of a local deli. "I used to have to pay protection money to two different gangs. Now, I can resume operations without fear of any retaliation. The city is really coming alive again, except without the cancer stuck underneath."

Despite the security and peace of mind in the I.D., the Vancouvian Congress was called to session today to discuss a surmounting problem: the lack of any sort of tax in the district. Before the occupation, the I.D. was in a state of balanced anarchy: local gangs would enforce "order" and medical care was entirely capitalistic. Now though, the Vancouvian military has had to keep the pin in the grenade, allotting local citizens the use of military field hospitals and other normal city services.

"It's entirely unsustainable," said Senator Claudia Meston. "The Vancouvian National Army can not afford to continue the massive logistical nightmare that is to take care of a city of millions. There needs to be something done, and, as history has told us, the answer is taxation."

Taxation, arguably universally despised, is no different in the International District. The difference, however, is the historical nature of the I.D. -- it has never had a tax because it has never had a true government. It is only natural, therefore, that the internationalists will be fervently opposed to any sort of taxation whatsoever.

"The first step begins with the creation of a local government," said Meston. "Whether that be a mayor, a council--which we prefer--, or a direct democracy, the I.D. needs to begin the process of becoming an independent state."

Versailles, Pacifique, and Amérique light up in spirit of the holidays, CPS offers big cash for volunteers

Late last night PPU's three major cities lit up in Christmas joy. Versailles the most lit up of them all was jam packed yesterday evening as President Antionette with her husband Mikl lit the national christmas tree, a tradition since the formation of the PPU. Photos of the event and of the National Christmas tree will be located below. Also the day before Christmas eve, Scarlett and Tyr will be performing at the Mall of Versailles singing many songs from Scarlett's Christmas Album "A Scarlett Christmas."

CPS recruiters traveled to Voyaguer yesterday to prey on desperate citizens help out those in need of financial aide. They offered a 20,000 dollar reward to anyone willing to participate in psychological tests that will be performed at the AMBER research facility. As you can imagine hundreds volunteered themselves but only 10 lucky individuals were chosen via a drawing. The tests will span over a period of 10 days and it is unknown what they will consist of.

Today, our glorious Khan Surevi the Benelovent has decided to step down from actively running our amazing land. Launch of the Saikōsai Fleet tour

With the completion of the Izumo Class Helicopter Destroyer, The State has decided to send the ship along with three Asagaries, four Abukumas, and three Sa'ars around the mainland in a grand fleet as a display of military power for the rest of the Isles. This decision is being preceded by an assurance that the current Administration has no desires for aggressive action and is seeking to secure its borders through both peaceful means and reputation.

Improvements and Growth

With the completion of the Izumo Helicopter-Destroyer the State has decided to redirect it's attention to a pressing matter of efficiency in the power grid. Following a showing of various ideas presented by different groups across the country, The State has decided to go with the Sukire State Colleges proposal to replace the various coal powered plant around the country with a single nuclear power complex tucked away in the Aki Valley.

This massive project has already been underway for years but now it shall receive the governments full attention with the completion of military goal 1A. Upon completion the Power complex is predicted to provide more than enough energy for the entire country, though the coal power plants shall be maintain for emergency situations. Economist predict that the plant with be able to boost the GDP of the country by 5% by streamlining the power grid and providing a cleaner more steady supply of energy.

ODAF Unveils New Multi-Role Fighter

Today, at the ODAF Press Conference in Thurso, at the Nation Aviation Convention, the latest in multi-role fighters were shown off. The E-12 Multi-Role Fighter Jet, or "Zephyr" is the planned successor to the E-11 "Windrunner" fighter jet. With twin jet engines and a strong armament, graded an 81.7 in a battle. The Zephyr is slated for release next month, with an opening of 55 planes releasing.

Protests Ensue In Southern Oglassan Cities

An hour ago, protesters rallied in unison across Southern Oglassan Cites. The Obijuan Stock Exchange received the most protest. This is due to the immense taxation of the poor citizens in the South by the government while the rich get little taxation at all. Milano Parlamento Drafts Bill on lifting taxes from the Roman Catholic Church

Today the Milano Lawmakers that have drafted and proposed the bill hail from an alliance of the political parties of United Milano and Progressive Peoples. The draft in its current form would lift all taxes on the church including its property tax and income tax. U.S. Bill #3411, "Policies concerning GMO and other such products," passed earlier this week, enacting resounding support from many scientists and Tomorrow Party supporters. U.H. #3411 loosened many governmental policies regarding GMO products and re-evaluated the government's stance on them. One such revision was that abolition a tariff on GMO products. It also provided funding to the Federal Commission for Research on Genetic Modification and Manipulation. Businesses, such as GreenCore Inc. hailed the bill as "a step to an agricultural revolution," and others, such as Future Research Corporation called said that it "is the beginning of a new age of innovation."

The bill was passed 92Y - 0A - 8N in the Upper State, and 188Y - 5A - 8N in the Lower State. There was close to 25% resistance from the Green Party, and was rejected by the Monarchists. President Lilí signed the bill into law on Wednesday.

As the House of the People elections draw to a close, we are able to provide you with a preliminary view of party standings in the Upper House. Official names will be revealed on Sun, December 13, and will go into effect on Jan 1.
