Conservative leader Lokken praises Jerigan king during campaign speech

SONDRAN- As the 2023 general election is rapidly approaching on January 2nd, the major parties are rushing to get their messages out to the public one last time. In his campaign tour, the new Conservative leader Stig Lokken has revealed many of his policy goals, such as the deregulation of businesses, tax cuts, and fighting "woke" culture in Valhapia. He also talked foreign policy quite a lot, including the recently concluded East Lankian-Rehaajlian War and potential relations with Najimam, Nisryn, and Esterazdravo. Most recently, at a campaign dinner in Tresko, the capital of Garberg Province, Lokken brought up the topic of Jeriga's ongoing crisis over their King. Lokken openly supported the King's actions, saying, "He is trying to save his country from the corrupt socialists. I mean, can you blame him? Look what those idiots did when they tried to open a power plant!"

Many Valhapians have condemned Lokken's rhetoric as "neo-monarchist," trying to paint him as sympathetic to Valhapia's own monarchy that was overthrown in 1855 during the Valhapian Revolution, resulting in the execution of Valhapia's final king as a result of his tyrannical actions. Lokken has denied these allegations, claiming that, "These Socialists want me to be seen like a dictator like Trasjar [Valhapia's final king]. I am not a dictator, and these socialist "democrats" are the ones who want a dictatorship of the proletariat, taking wealth away from those who have worked hard to get it!"

Lokken's fiery rhetoric has been appealing to many nationalist voters and has swayed many centrists who would otherwise vote for the Social Democrats or the Liberals. In the most recent polls, the Conservatives would be forecasted to win the election with about 26% of the vote compared to the Social Democrats' 20%. According to the same polling, a right-wing government has the possibility of being formed with a thin 2 seat margin in Parliament, with the Conservatives, Christian Democrats, National Patriots, and the Atamar Party being allied. The final two weeks of the campaign season will be critical, and could see a shift to any side.

Consul Signs New Family Planning Law to Counteract Falling Birth Rates

Early this morning within the Herrepalis, Consul Bellarys signed into law the new Family Incentive Policy, which is a series of incentives, primarily tax breaks and family benefits for those who raise more children. These laws were created in response to the continued decline of Solaryia’s native fertility rate, which has been below the necessary replacement rate of 2.1 children per woman since 1998. By 2021, the birth rate had fallen to below 1.5 children per woman, causing widespread alarm among many. In recent years, the increased population has been primarily sustained due to immigration, largely from the nations of Raedlon such as Belantica, and the southern Mesder, particularly from the Rodaves.

Although the policy has widespread support among many within the Senate, there is noted opposition, most notable the concerns that the education systems and child welfare programs could cost Solaryi taxpayers millions in raised taxes in the future. In addition, some Senators state that the policy could be hostile to the current immigration communities within the country and favours native born Solaryi over immigrants from other nations, particularly those from the South Mesder and Argus, as well as harming those children already born seeking adoption. Other hostility comes from the fact that this is the first policy encouraging family planning since the nationalist Consulship of Ensi Alsen and the pre-Imperial War monarchist government, and fear that these acts along with increased military spending are a prelude to more nationalist policies.

First Winter Storm Hits Karnali Sea, North Solaryia

Image

Last week, one of the largest winter storms in the decade hit the northeastern coast of Solaryia, ravaging beachfront towns along the Erune, Arke, and Korbrí Prefectura. Temperatures in the area plummeted, some areas hitting lows of -7 (degrees) C, with heavy precipitation of sleet and snow. Regions as far south as Eridanis were hit with almost 12 cm of snow over the course of the weekend as the storm slammed into the coast, with just over a week left before Christmas.

As of now, it is stated that there are 6 confirmed fatalities, 4 of which are from the fishing boat Kevytjalka, which was run into a coastal shoal off the coast and broke apart in the surf. In addition, 27 others remain missing, primarily in the flooded areas around the city of Turü where tidewaters overwhelmed the storm surge barriers. Regional divisions of the Nasjodovakt have been mobilized in order to help with search and rescue operations, as well as assisting with providing humanitarian aid to many homes that are now flooded or have lost power, a number estimated to be in the tens of thousands. More snow is expected within the following week, however the storm has primarily dissipated, and high winds and surf are no longer expected. Drivers in the coming days should still be wary of black ice along the roads, as although much of the snowfall has been cleared, temperatures will not be high enough to melt the ice for weeks.

Man Creates Explosive Package For Car Thieves

In recent months, the breaking into and stealing of various boxes and bags from parked cars has been on an increase in many major cities, particularly as the winter shopping season rolls around. With increasing public discontent and a police response that many citizens deem too slow, one man, named Jan Czerniak, decided to take the issue into his own hands. This came to a head within the city of Illüro yesterday, when a package was stolen from the anonymous man’s car. However unknown to the thieves, the package was filled with a wireless tracking device and a homemade explosive that could be detonated remotely.

After the package thieves broke into the Czerniak’s vehicle and stole the package, he was allegedly able to track their location until they arrived at what he deemed was a suitably safe area, and detonated the small bomb. The two suspects within the car were both injured, being taken to the hospital with various minor burns and abrasions. The car suffered broken windows with the interior being rendered inoperable with burning and shrapnel. They were later taken into custody after admitting to breaking and entering, and are allegedly in stable condition. Jan Czerniak was apprehended a few hours later, turning himself in at a local police station in south Illüro. It is unknown where he acquired the materials to create the bomb, however it is currently believed that he works as a mechanical engineer for a local automotive shop, and the local police have not yet released further statements regarding Jan's motive.

Stevens River dam removal bill passes

Image
River Mill dam, the first in a series of four dams on the Stevens River

With local elections coming to an end along with the year. Most Deschutans spend a majority of their time inside and away from the cold, wet, unruly weather. With more time inside comes more energy consumption and therefore a bigger energy bill. However, over the last few years a majority of the populace has been left to wonder.

'What is the real cost of my energy?'

Not in financial terms, but in environmental impact. That is why in this years elections The Deschutan people have voted for what is possibly the largest dam removal project on the planet. A series of five dams on the Stevens River in central Deschutes have long since impeded the rivers once mighty flow. With the first dam finishing construction in 1948 and the rest following shortly after. The once beautiful scenic river has been turned into a series of reservoirs in the name of cheap power.

This was all fine and well from its construction and the decades following it, it truly was affordable, clean power. It wasn't until the early 2000s that these dams quickly started to show their age. Although a highly debated topic it is no secret that other forms of energy production that don't impede habitat and wildlife are making their way into the spotlight. Wind, geothermal, and solar power have all skyrocketed in popularity in the last couple decades and for good reason. While they might not be perfect, there is no denying they are a better decision for the environment than hydroelectric dams. Dams have impeded fish passage in The Deschutes for the last 70 years. And with a blockage of fish comes a slough of other problems. Anadromous fish such as the various salmon species and the Dolly Varden (Salvelinus malma) have long since been trampled on and slowly cut down by these dams. What is commonly referred to by fisheries biologists as the 'death by a thousand cuts' is the best way to explain the declining anadromous fish population over the last century.

Anadromous fish are a huge part of Deschutan culture, economy, and recreation. Being touted as the world destination for outdoor recreation, fishing has been a huge part of The Deschutes tourism industry. The decline in salmon and trout population have also hurt the economy as well. Wild caught salmon is The Deschutes largest meat export and the jobs provided by it are nothing short of a necessity. Degradation of habitat, poorly written fishery laws, and hydropower projects are some of the largest contributors to the decline in anadromous fish populations. For example; since the construction of the very first dam in The Deschutes (Aliso Dam in 1933). Anadromous fish such the pacific salmon species, sturgeon, and lamprey have lost up to 55% of their habitat previously used for spawning.

And with that the men and women of The Deschutes voted in favor by a 64/36 majority to remove the Stevens River dams. The removal project is expected to begin late next year and should be completed by 2026. The beginning of the dam removal is to be started with a ceremony held by the Alquina tribe, a native tribe to The Deschutes in november 2023.

Cold Weather Front Moves In From West

In the late evening of yesterday, a large cold weather front coming from the west across the Karnali Sea has settled and caused havoc in many of the west coast cities and towns of Prvekjia. This morning, streets were smothered in layers of snow, rendering cars immovable and disrupting the days of many. In Ndaminarov, where snow itself is a rare sight, hailstones up to 13 centimetres in diameter have been found. Many highways have also been found with ice covering them, with the government advising people “not to drive unless absolutely unavoidable, in which case stick to a strict speed limit of 20 kilometres per hour. Thankfully, nobody has been injured so far and this weather has moved on past the Kruna Mountains, which, while good for some, is rather worrying for those on the other side. Residents and holidaymakers of Kanović, a popular winter destination, have been warned by the council to “stay inside for most of tomorrow, unless it is clearly safe outside”. This imminent alert has kickstarted a wave of panic buying, as people rush to supermarkets to gather food and water.

Right-wing parties create "Valhapian National Salvation Front"

SONDRAN- At a massive weeklong conference that began today in Sondran, the 4 right-wing parties represented in Parliament and other right-wing organizations announced the formation of the Valhapian National Salvation Front, a political alliance that, according to National Patriotic Front leader Fredrik Vignes, "seeks to unify the scattered opposition to the communists and socialists in this country and keep it a pure nation untouched by the Great Red Menace." The VNSF contains 6 organizations so far, 4 of which are political parties and 2 of which are paramilitary organizations. This includes the Conservative Party, the Christian Democratic Party, the National Patriotic Front, and the Atamar Party, as well as the far-right paramilitary groups known as the Valhapian National Union and the National Christian Protection League.

This political alliance marks a gigantic shift in Valhapian politics. It is the first time that political alliances are being openly formed before elections. It is also the first time that political parties have openly allied themselves with violent extremists since the days of the Valhapian Civil War. This action will undoubtedly prompt a counterreaction from the more left-wing and centrist forces in the nation. This action also continues the trend of the Conservative Party turning further and further to the right under its new party leader.

Educators explore and exchange best educational practices

Balluit - Thursday's meeting in Balluit brought together more than 240 educators and policymakers to talk about ways to enhance teaching effectiveness and educational quality through regional cooperation. Best educational practices are being examined and discussed by attendees at the two-day Regional Teachers' Policy Forum II, which is being hosted by President Abautu Disratz Teacher Academy (Aynuaynde Al Raugas Abautugu Disratz, ARAD). Gonayis Cionaxur, the education minister, opened the forum by saying, "The lack of attention to the profession and teachers in previous years is what led us to the current situation." Nisri teachers, he said, are "not in an enviable position today, especially since less than 80 Dyulus a year is spent on [each educator's] training, while [their] peers in advanced countries receive regular training."

Image

The minister provided a more accurate picture of the state of education in the area by noting that four years ago, the budget allotted for teacher training was only 50 Dyulus, but that it has since increased tenfold. ARAD CEO Iroyg Iscaunyb emphasised that the forum gives "elite" Nisri and foreign academics a platform to "crystallise" the recommendations of the Nisri Programme on Teachers Policies and Professional Development, one of the projects that has been overseen by the academy for three years to develop a common Nisri agenda for improving education. The programme addresses issues with Nisryn's educational quality as part of the Nisri Agenda on Improving Education Quality. The forum will cover training for teachers and educational policies through lectures, workshops, and seminars. ARAD was created to enhance education in Nisryn by giving teachers direct exposure to professional development opportunities, professional support, and the most recent studies on educational practises and regulations. The academy supports the development of Nisryn's first formalised, comprehensive induction programme for newly-hired teachers and provides ongoing opportunities for professional growth for educators.

Counteroffensive launched to stop Linuabicu’s suppression

Hinnaca - Formerly, Esterazian troops invaded some of the Hinnaca regions. In the early days of the invasion, Esterazian troops captured the strategically-important city of Linaubicu in Hinnaca, pushing Nisri troops back. On the morning of 9 December, government authorities began to urge residents of Labasze - the island containing Buacyn (Vubākīn) - to evacuate from their homes due to an impending Nisri counteroffensive. Residents of the occupied Ixmul (Īznum) in particular were urged to create shelters to "survive the Nisri counteroffensive". Aubun Lincaszun, Minister of Defence, warned of intense fighting and shelling in the upcoming days, claiming that the "Armed Forces are coming". On 14 December, a Labasze region official stated that "Ixmul will be liberated and all the occupiers' plans will fail."

The Esterazian forces were caught off guard on December 18 when Nisri forces launched a counteroffensive in the Hinnaca area. "Esterazdravo thought [the counteroffensive] would be in Labasze then, instead of Labasze, [the counteroffensive] happened where they least expected, and this caused them to panic and flee," a spokesman for the Nisri special forces said in an interview with the on December 19. The Esterazian-held territory was retaken by Nisri forces after they advanced at least 19 kilometres into it. The Esterazian lines had been breached by Nisryn by December 20. According to the Nisri military, they had gained nearly 70 kilometres and taken back more than 2,000 square kilometres of land.

Implementation of tobacco law to make smoking die out naturally

In order to prevent children under the age of 12 from ever being able to legally purchase cigarettes, a smoking-prohibition law was introduced. The law will result in thousands of people living longer and healthier lives in future generations, according to health minister Kuabel Buose. The healthcare system will benefit more if smoking-related conditions like various cancers, heart attacks, strokes, and amputations don't need to be treated. Smoking will die naturally in Nisryn if a tobacco-prohibitive law is implemented in this manner. This is because the law forbids tobacco purchases for anyone who was born on or after January 1st, 2010, and for the rest of their lives.

23rd of December, 2022
Ahnerten, WL - Partly Cloudy. Max: 10 Min: -1

DOMESTIC: Police bust international arms trafficking ring

AHNERTEN (ANE) - Dozens of illegal firearms are now off the street and over twenty people are now under arrest following simultaneous raids across Arborai and Ahnerten this morning. The raids, which were led by Norland and Wesland Police respectively, have pounced upon an arms trafficking ring which police allege imported firearms from the Southern Sea and sought to get them over the Lesvan border. Acting quickly upon real-time intelligence being shared internationally, Lesvan police then raided multiple premises in the vicinity of the border. Authorities there have not yet announced what they have found, or how the raids went.

Meanwhile, here in Ainslie, the efforts of local police are being lauded for unexpectedly busting the ring which initially was a task expected to take multiple years. The Wesland Police Commissioner today confirmed that the arms traffickers once had a diversified business, but in the past twelve months especially pivoted towards the boutique, risky yet lucrative runs of arms across the border to Lesva from Ainslie. It is not exactly clear how the weapons got into Ainslie, though police are confident answers will come to these questions in the near future. Many of the models seized are strictly illegal in Ainslie - prompting suspicions that such an operation must have had deep pockets and bold plans behind it.

It all appears to have ended with a whimper. All known contacts have now been traced - leading to twenty five arrests whilst a further thirty voluntarily accompanied police officers to police stations. It is understood that upwards of forty weapons have been seized as a part of the raids in Arborai and Ahnerten alone. It is also unclear if raids elsewhere in the country occurred, with the Wesland Police Commissioner reluctant to offer details about any potential operations that occurred elsewhere that were linked to the arms traffickers. It is also expected that the number of arrests and seizures will balloon once Lesvan authorities trace the extent of the operations of this group in their own nation.

The bust also has important implications for the diplomatic relationship between Ainslie and Lesva. The consensus of academic thought points to the relationship having soured, due to multiple crises and scandals both in Ainslie and Lesva. This is further compounded by the until very recently, a rather unstable and uncertain political environment in Lesva - particularly in the upper echelons of power.

However, this close cooperation is a clear indication that the Ahnslen-Lesvan relationship remains strong at least in some areas such as in organised crime. Whilst the two nations are radically different ideologically, it appears that they remain focused on dealing with practical, lower level issues that are in the interests of both nations to act upon.

The news of such cooperation has not been met with satisfaction in some portions of the Ahnslen community though. The Lesvan diaspora in Arborai have already condemned Ainslie’s cooperation with the Lesvan Government, citing it as proof that the government in Ahnerten recognises and is willing to work with what they believe the country should consider as an illegitimate government. Further, it has raised concerns amongst these groups that police cooperation between Ainslie and Lesva may jeopardise their own safety in Arborai. This is notwithstanding the Ahnslen Government offering assurances to the community that the Lesvan Government will not be able to use their influence politically to spy and overreach into the lives of private individuals who fled amidst the turmoil and violence of the Saela Spring and subsequent events.

Eresi Tavan, a lecturer at the University of Norlands, sympathised with the view of the Lesvans in Arborai saying that:
“Arborai is not far from Lesva. Not at all. Here we see the same police who have a mandate to protect the Lesvans in Arborai working with a government that they fear. These are understandable concerns and the Federal Government should be more cautious and calculated in how it conducts its affairs with Lesva. It is vital we do not spook this community.”

There are also fears amongst some in Ainslie that the intelligence that has been handed over to the Lesvans by Ahnslen authorities may be used or lead to punishments that the Ahnslen Government would be agitated to see occurring in a nation neighbouring them.

“There is a real risk that we see arbitrary executions, extrajudicial coercion and political hitjobs because of what the police told Lesvan authorities. The very reality that Ainslie has helped Lesva would suggest that the government in Saela could completely fabricate something and then say ‘oh well, the Ahnslens told us this’ and automatically it could get more legitimacy’, Tavan explains.

This is a real fear amongst human rights watchers in Gael, who suspect that the Ahnslen intelligence could be used as political cover for Lesva to go hard on people who they allege trafficked arms to the country. This is especially important to note amidst the speculation of what the weapons had been used for. It is very possible that these arms traffickers are embroiled in the political contest that is occuring in Lesva. They could be providing access to arms that the Lesvan Government otherwise may not be able to get because of sanctions or hesitancy to conclude arms deals. Potentially at the same time, the traffickers could also be arming what resistance and dissent exists in Lesva.

These fears were raised at the regular Prime Minister’s press conference, and were promptly batted away by spokesperson Kari Tarlow.

“The Ahnslen Government is against illicit arms trafficking. Anytime, anywhere, anywhere. We will work with nations who actively work to dismantle organised crime - especially on an international level. The Lesvan Government in the past has proven themselves to be a part of this group and quietly, I think the Lesvans would benefit from learning more about the illegal arms trade. It is always in the Ahnslen interest to dismantle arms trafficking groups.

As for the concerns about fabrication, it is in the interests of the Lesvan Government to not distort what has been shared to them by us. In line with our established policy, we will act accordingly if they do not show good faith. For the reasons stated prior, it seems unlikely we will need to resort to them.”

Another potential headache for the government is how they may have to navigate issues surrounding extradition. It is possible that there may be Ahnslen citizens in Lesva responsible for participating in the ring and vice versa for Lesvans in Ainslie. This could cause further discord between the Lesvans in Arborai and the Ahnslen Government - particularly because of how interconnected the community is in that city and the possibility of political reasons for the arms trade occuring. This could be problematic as any exchange or extradition arrangement may cause issues at home with this group and potentially delegitimise the government in the views of these people.

The Government will need to tread carefully, despite its boldness in cooperating with Lesva in dismantling this arms trafficking group. More to come.

DOMESTIC: Foreigners detained after attempting to steal stick insects

RENDERRA (ANE) - Four men from Yursea were detained and brought into custody in Renderra today when their boat was intercepted near Retella Island, in the far east of the Merenesian Strait, within Ahnslen waters. The four men were on a small boat, likely launched not far from the island, and were found in the Restricted Biosecurity Zone making their way towards a rocky outcrop. It is understood that the reason for their presence was to collect specimens of critically endangered stick insect in order to sell onto the black market. Aeremniel Stick Insects were likely the target, with only a few hundred still alive in the wild and restricted to a small group of rocky islands in the Strait. Entering into the biosecurity zone can trigger massive fines being awarded or alternatively in aggravated circumstances or where police can establish intent or motive, jail time. This has been in place since 2014, where the Federal Government decided that a more heavy handed approach was essential in order to deter brazen criminals from making the dangerous journey to the islands.

Nathan Collie, Governor of Mannen, offered some comments about the arrests off of the coast of his electorate this morning in a press conference.

“At about 4:32 am this morning, a small watercraft was detected by the Ahnslen Navy as it entered the Restricted Biosecurity Zone in the Merenese Strait. From there, it was discretely followed for about twenty five minutes until it reached the vicinity of Retella Island - forty kilometres southeast of Enda. Before it landed, naval craft attempted to make contact with the captain of the boat who up until then had not communicated or acknowledged their whereabouts with any Ahnslen authorities. The navy then used a water cannon in an attempt to force action from the crew of the unauthorised boat. That was ultimately unsuccessful, so a boarding party was dispatched in the hope of preventing them from reaching the island unattended.

At this point - about 5:06am, Mannenite authorities were notified of the presence of the vessel by the Ahnslen Navy and the steps that had already been taken. We were notified that it was likely that the crew would be transferred into our custody under powers given to them under the Biosecurity Act. When the navy sailors reached the boat, they found four men on board - all Yursean nationals and equipment that would suggest they were conducting activities that are illegal on the island. This is in addition to the fact that knowingly entering these waters and then attempting to dock at one of the islands are both separate offences as well. Mannenite Police, along with our federal counterparts, will allege that these four tried to gain access to the island for purposes of taking protected species to onsell into the black market.

Fortunately, their plans were thwarted with the assistance of the ever-aware Ahnslen Navy as they conducted routine patrols of the Merenese Strait. Through their actions, they have done a service to this country by protecting some of its most precious environmental assets - the wide biodiversity and fragile ecosystems we have in particularly remote areas such as these islands. I wish to thank them not only myself but on behalf of the electorate for their actions today.”

The act of the Navy this morning has attracted broad support and gratitude from environmental organisations and charities, including the International Parks and Nature Organisation. In a statement sent to the media, their Director Tim Arellow applauded the actions of the government.

“This is a government serious about protecting what we could never get back if we lose it. Despite our best efforts, so far we have only been successful in cultivating and maintaining the population of the insects on these islands only. It is a heavy-handed step to create an exclusion zone but is one that is proportionate to the magnitude of risk to these ecosystems if people are just allowed to disembark onto the islands or take what they please. It does not only take a rule to prove that a government cares about the environment - it takes enforcement and active enforcement at that. We are pleased that the Ahnslen authorities are genuine and actively try to prevent in practice what they try to stop in writing.”

Professor Aren Carande of the University of Renderra believes that although it is justified and heavy handed, such actions are likely to raise eyebrows overseas.

“The fact that a navy would intercept a boat in the fashion the Ahnslens have and perform a boarding and arrest is certainly quite spectacular. Spectacular in the sense that people from other nations, including the Government of the Yursea, will see this and assume that there are ulterior motives or some sort of political stunt going on. In fact, such acts by these four men pokes the bear in two different areas - immigration and biosecurity. Ainslie has always been rightfully strict in one of these areas, let alone both. Ainslie is keen to protect its waters from unauthorised vessels moving around it, as they are in protecting their ecosystems - this is a hornet’s nest as far as I am concerned. It is just about the smallest thing you could do to elicit a very strong response from Ahnslen Governments.”

The Yursean Government has not yet responded to the arrests but it is understood they will in coming hours. Arendai will bring that to you as it happens.

The Cary Post

New Slate of News: New Environmental Package proposed by PM, President to address the Assembly in early January

By Kenneth Braith

Prime Minister Peter Hall has proposed the Clean Environmental Act of 2022, shortly after the landslide re-election of incumbent President Seth Nanney, of the United Republican Party, against National Progressive Coalition candidate and former Prime Minister Michael Harris. The legislation includes provisions for clean-up projects of the hazardous waste dumps outside of Cary and Lewis, funds to construct and operate a National Marine Park near the northern port city of Logan, and a National Park right outside of Camden. The Assembly will vote on it in early January, during the lame-duck session, as the Assembly only saw the United Republicans gain five seats from the National Progressives. The bill is expected to pass overwhelmingly, as both major parties support it.

President Seth Nanney has also been invited to speak to the Assembly on January 10th, 2023. The speech is primarily going to be on foreign policy, though it has been said the opening of the speech will include references to the economic prosperity the nation has enjoyed under his tenure. President Nanney has been known for his support and cultivation of close ties with the Doraltic peoples and the Ahnslens, alongside his efforts to collaborate more with Renet's Eterna neighbors. These topics are expected to come up in the speech.

That is all for the Cary Post, with your reporter Kenneth Braith. Read in next time for more exciting news!

Throngist Armed Forces Consider Anti-Nuclear Laser

Ministry of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces and the General Staff of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces debate introducing an anti-nuclear laser

Image

Minister of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Colonel Velar Shrieva and Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Major General Belo Motar have met with First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Taica Berislavić over at the headquarters of the State Realm of the Throngist Republic of Lesva. Minister of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Colonel Velar Shrieva and Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Major General Belo Motar jointly proposed a new project and a new type of weaponry to the arsenal of the Throngist Republic of Lesva and something that could possibly become part of a joint collective security infrastructure and a joint arsenal of the Eastern Tripartite (ET).

Minister of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Colonel Velar Shrieva and Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Major General Belo Motar have put forth the proposal that there could or should be a strife to create an anti-nuclear laser as a type of weapon currently not possessed by anybody and there is no known knowledge of any country in the world attempting to produce one. If realized, it would be the latest type of weapon solely designed to counter hostile nuclear weapons, specifically nuclear missiles. Minister of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Colonel Velar Shrieva and Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Major General Belo Motar see the laser, which they have not given a code-name to when talking about a prototype, as a type of weapon that could be launch at the hostile missile and make the missile overheat and explode, while it is in the air. That would be the principle how this hypothetical anti-nuclear laser could work.

Although Minister of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Colonel Velar Shrieva and Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces Major General Belo Motar believe it would be ideal for the Throngist Republic to propose the project to the allies in the Eastern Tripartite (ET). Since such an anti-nuclear laser is seen as something that could work as part of a collective ET arsenal and be brought to existence as a joint ET venture, it is believed the first prototype could enter development only by ET states joining forces, as the Throngist Republic could struggle financially and technology-wise, in case it tried to develop the laser alone. Currently, out of weaponry meant to counter hostile nuclear weapons and nuclear attacks, the Throngist Republic of Lesva has several anti-missile systems it had purchased from our Homeland's ET ally Aprosian People's Democratic Union.

Fish Flood in Canal
[/quote]
Residents of Ndamiranov’s canal side houses woke up to a queer sight; thousands of fish floating in the middle of the central canal. It was reported that early in the morning, a fishing trawler travelling towards Lake Torejla accidentally dropped it’s catch; a net full of Northern Bass. The mess has yet to be cleaned up with some fast thinking citizens racing into the canal to grab some fish for themselves.

26th Edition of 2022, Late December

New Radio-Telescope shows incredible new data from distant worlds

27th of December 2022,
Arteveza, Federal Republic of Uprea

Scientists and the scientific community have been amazed by the new data coming from the new Radio-Telescope near Arteveza. The new telescope has been watching the sky, especially looking out for so called exo-planets. This is done by watching stars in the sky and looking out for dips in the light signature of said stars. By taking a closer look and focusing the telescope, one can not only confirm the existence of planets orbiting another star but also determine their atmospheric composition, density, size and evidence for especially interesting elements such as methane or oxygen for example.
Scientist were especially excited when they recently discovered the planet with the astronomical designation "UD 75856 d". The planet is the fourth one discovered orbiting the star UD 75856 which is 6832 light years away from Earth. Despite this vast distance, modern technology has made it possible for us to draw a very realistic picture of planets even so far away. Latest readings coming from the new Radio-Telescope have now been confirming what scientist were already speculating about. The atmosphere of the planet "UD 75856 d" contains oxygen. And not only that, the radio telescope also detected the presence of methane, which could be another sign of a so-called bio signature. This Bio-Signature is what scientist call hints that could lead us to the discovery of extraterrestrial life.
Furthermore is the planet in the "habitable zone", meaning it is at just the right distance from its mother star, that it is not too cold or too warm and liquid water could potentially exist.
Following this incredible discovery, scientist are now focusing on the planet to get even more information and are excited to see the new telescope, which was introduced in 2020, already bring fourth such unbelievable data.
Joao Guardiola, head scientist at the Arteveza Telescope in an interview:
It truly is a magnificent sight to behold. Even though its currently just numbers on a screen, the data we have gathered will help us paint a picture of exoplanets like it has never been done before. We will now investigate UD 75856 d even further and hopefully come up with new results soon.

Cornelio Tomas in a press conference today:
Of course I am not 100% happy with this outcome, as I felt I really had a shot at getting to the finals, but in the end one has to accept defeats and learn from them. I made the best out of it and am really happy to get to go home with a medal secured. Najimam boosts its Human Intelligence capabilities

The ministry of Jihad announced today the official opening of its new Human Intelligence (HUMINT) center, located in the capital city of Najiman. The HUMINT center will serve as the main hub for all human intelligence gathering and analysis efforts within Najimam. It will be responsible for collecting and analyzing information about hostile countries from a variety of sources, including foreign diplomats, business leaders, and local informants.

The opening of the HUMINT center is a major milestone for Najimam, as it will allow the country to better understand the intentions and capabilities of foreign governments, organizations, and individuals. It will also help the Armed Jihadists to identify potential threats and to take proactive measures to protect national security and Najimams' allies.

The HUMINT center is staffed by a team of highly trained professionals, who will work closely with other intelligence agencies and law enforcement organizations to gather and analyze intelligence. In addition, the center will have a robust network of sources and assets around the western isles, providing a constant stream of information that will be critical to the decision-making process.

Minister of Jihad Issam Harb made this statement regarding the HUMINT center:
The Theocracy of Najimam is committed to using its new HUMINT center to serve the best interests of its citizens and to protect the country's national security. We are confident that this investment in human intelligence will pay dividends in the years ahead, and we look forward to working with our partners around the western isles to promote stability and peace.

In addition to the standard HUMINT activities of collecting and analyzing information, Najimam's new HUMINT center also has a number of specialized units focused on specific areas of interest. One of these units is devoted to counterintelligence, with the goal of identifying and neutralizing foreign intelligence threats to Najimam. This unit will work closely with law enforcement agencies to investigate cases of espionage and to identify and disrupt foreign intelligence operations within the country.

Another unit will focus on cyber intelligence, with the goal of collecting and analyzing information about cyber threats to Najimam and its allies. This unit specializes in identifying and mitigating potential cyber attacks, and gathering intelligence on the capabilities and intentions of foreign cyber actors.

The HUMINT center will also have a unit focused on economic intelligence, with the goal of gathering and analyzing information about the economic activities of foreign governments, organizations, and individuals. Furthermore, it will collaborate with the country's economic and financial experts to identify opportunities for economic growth and to protect Najimam's economic interests.

The new HUMINT center represents a major investment in the country's ability to gather and analyze human intelligence, and will play a critical role in protecting the country's national security and promoting its interests around the western isles. Many reports suggest that a special HUMINT unit is getting ready to be deployed in Nisryn's Archipelago of Luvahira in the coming days. Moreover, some sources talk about Najimam planning to establish various types of HUMINT centers in the Four Passages, Mesder, Eterna and Southern seas. Stay tuned for more news.

First Lesvan-Itielian talks held in Gran Teran, San Jimenez

Officials of the Throngist Republic of Lesva and the People's Republic of Itielia hold first diplomatic talks since the ceasing of bilateral diplomatic relations

Image

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Throngist Republic of Lesva has confirmed that nearly secret diplomatic talks have been held with the officials of the People's Republic of Itielia in Gran Teran, San Jimenez. Throngist Republic's Special Envoy for Itielia Asvi Erespas met with an undisclosed official of the People's Republic of Itielia in San Jimenez's national capital. Special Envoy for Itielia Asvi Erespas met with a high-ranking representative of the ruling socialist party in left-wing Itielia in Gran Teran, San Jimenez. It has not been revealed who was the high-ranking representative from Itielia in terms of name and official position, however, it is believed to have been a ruling party official and ruling party member of a high-ranking. It is unknown who initiated the meeting.

These have been the first diplomatic talks since Itielia unilaterally cut diplomatic relations with the Lesvan state, following Saela Spring and the creation of the modern-day Throngist Republic. Because the Itielian state took a stance against the revolutionary choice of the Lesvan people and Our Nation's fight for a new chapter and in the name of Throngism. Our Leadership never tried to reach out to the Itielian state in order to convince it to reverse its' decision. Throngist Republic did not perceive Itielia in a hostile manner, but did not seek to restore diplomatic relations either, instead having an apathetic and indifferent stance. The relations remained non-existent and the interactions between the countries remained at a minimum. That was the case until today. Now, as more details about the meeting may or may not come out, so will the revelation whether both countries will move towards restoring diplomatic relations and towards normalization.

Iroan and Belantican Queen hold talks

Ilganis – President Lesos Iroan, Vice-President Artadul Niros, Belantican Queen Katherine, and Belantican Prime Minister Cyril Lander met to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments. Following the bilateral talks, Prime Minister Zausun Nixayr attended an expanded meeting. The two leaders emphasised Nisryn and Belantica's deep friendship ties, as well as their desire to advance them further. At the start of the expanded meeting, the president emphasised the warm and historic bilateral relationship, saying, "I only see that our two countries' relationship is growing by leaps and bounds, and I wanted to thank your leadership for that and how you help us."

The president said discussions with the queen addressed the challenges in Luvahira, noting that the Belantican queen's "role in being able to focus on the issues and the challenges that we have has been of tremendous help". Queen Katherine emphasised the significance of Belantica's collaboration with Nisryn and the outcomes of his discussions with the president. "I think the bilateral relations are producing great results, and we want to do more," she said, expressing Belantica's desire to support Nisryn's projects as well as what is important to the Nisri people. The Belantican prime minister described the conference as a success, commending Nisryn and the president for their "convening power and the ability to gather all these countries around the table and then sharing the same agenda, framing the discussion in the region and supporting Nisri sovereignty in Luvahira and the different prospects".

"I want to thank you and congratulate you because I believe it was not a done deal, and I believe a few months ago everyone doubted the collective ability to organise such a conference, and you did it, so thank you very much," the prime minister added. During the talks, the president thanked Belantica for providing Nisryn with development assistance across multiple sectors, as well as humanitarian aid in Luvahira, and expressed Nisryn's desire to expand economic cooperation with Belantica. The discussions also covered international developments and challenges, such as ways to collaborate in ensuring food security and mitigating the effects of climate change, while maintaining counter-terrorism efforts.

Rail and cycle network should replace extensions

A government commission has recommended that a sustainable network of additional rail stations, rapid bus routes, and cycle corridors be built in southeast Nisryn to replace the abandoned motorway extension. According to the commission, the measures to relieve extreme congestion could cost half the price of the abandoned road scheme and would provide commuters with genuine options.

The national infrastructure strategy published that the government would "make major policy interventions nationwide" should the legislation pass, with "concurrent powers to invest in infrastructure". The proposals, which will cost between DYU580m and DYU820m, include upgrading rail lines to increase speeds and allow for frequent stopping services at six new rail stations, as well as giving pedestrians and cyclists priority on station approach roads. Rapid bus routes, as well as a properly mapped network of commuter cycle corridors, would be built.

Parts of the scheme could be accelerated, but rail upgrades would likely take five to ten years to complete, according to Transport Minister Guitenne Ileneb. "This is a network; you have to look at it as a whole," she cautioned. Individual interventions are ineffective. Because of the congestion, and because people didn't have alternatives, there has been a lot of pressure to dedicate more roads to cars over the years. We hope to have a much better chance of convincing people of the bus priority."

A workplace parking levy has also been proposed, which Ileneb described as "one way of changing people's preferences," but he added that "we want to give people options, and in a way that will be helpful to people and make their journeys more satisfying."

Throngist Republic of Lesva and United Electorates of Ainslie stop drug trafficking operation on the border

Joint Lesvan-Ahnslen operation stops drug trafficking on the common border

Image

Minister of the Interior of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Oca Grazti and Minister of Justice of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Drac Peratar have made a joint statement confirming there was a neutralization of a drug trafficking operation on the border between the Throngist Republic of Lesva and the United Electorates of Ainslie. Minister of the Interior of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Oca Grazti said that the media of the United Electorates of Ainslie did have its' own description of the situation. In the Throngist Rrepublic of Lesva, the border guard and border police nearly took battle positions in all border posts and customs across the border with the United Electorates of Ainslie. There was a plan to reinforce the border guard and border police forces with regular police and the military specifically, by engaging the special forces. Throngist Republic's and Ainslie's forces met half-way and stopped the drug trafficking operation from both sides of the border. Minister of the Interior Oca Graztisaid has stated that there is a consideration to declare a state of emergency on the border with Ainslie. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Erso Rediba soon stated that the Throngist Republic will only declare a state of emergency on the border with whichever country by informing that country first. Minister of Justice of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Drac Peratar said that the Throngist Republic was considering an execution of organizers and participants of this drug trafficking operation. Ministry of the Interior is considering the idea of closing the borders again, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs insists that would not be done without the bordering countries being informed in advance. Moreover, the Ministry of Justice is investigating whether the additional smuggling of weapons alongside drugs in the Throngist Republic is part of an attempt to instigate any sort of an insurrection, insurgency, or terrorist activity on the territory of the Throngist Republic.

Najimam welcomes the Ferry Initiative

Najimam is a land of opportunity for investors looking to tap into the vast potential of the Argean sea, and the Eastern Tripartite understood just that. Today the minister of industry and trade Salma Aboutarikh announced that the Tripartite Shipping and Industry Investment Fund, or Ferry Initiative for short, will be heavily investing in various Najimamian industries. This comes after Najimam improved its diplomatic relations with the ET in recent months and made important investments and trade deals with Lesva and Aprosia.

In a statement, the minister spoke about the importance of the Ferry Initiative and its big impact going forward:
The government of Najimam is committed to creating a stable, business-friendly environment that is conducive to growth and innovation like Najiali SEZ. As such, the nation has attracted the attention of the Ferry Initiative, a group of ET investors looking to fund projects that will play an important role in driving economic development and creating jobs in many industries.

Najimam's strategic location, along with easy access to major shipping lanes, make it an ideal location for shipping and industry projects. The government has also implemented a number of tax incentives and other benefits to encourage further investments from the Ferry Initiative, including generous tax breaks when investing in the nation's infrastructure, manufacturing, and technology sectors.

With its stable political environment and strong economy, Najimam is a compelling destination for investors looking to make a positive impact on the Argean sea. The Ferry Initiative is confident that its investments in the country will yield significant returns, while also contributing to the nation's continued growth and development.

The ministry of industry and trade ensures that these new investments will expand Najimam's shipping and manufacturing capabilities and significantly grow various industries in the long term. Additionally, new reports confirm that the Ferry Initiative is finalizing a big investment deal with Rokaka Avionics, a sign of what to come. Moreover, many experts say that the FI will boost the growth of Najimam's logistics businesses which will lead to bigger revenues in the near future.

Najimam's Gnawa festival: an inside look

Gnawa is a traditional musical style and cultural group found in Najimam, precisely in the wilaya of Diwan. It is known for its complex rhythms and intricate melodies, which are created using a range of instruments, including the guembri, krakebs, and various percussion instruments.

Image

The guembri is a three-stringed lute that is played with a plectrum, and is an essential instrument in gnawa music. It is often accompanied by the krakebs, which are metal castanets that are played by the gnawa musicians. Other instruments used in gnawa music include drums, bells, and the ghaita, a type of oboe.

Gnawa music is typically played at spiritual ceremonies and rituals, such as the Lila, a famous spiritual festival that takes place over several days at the end of the year and involves music, dance, and oral storytelling. The Lila is an important part of Gnawa culture that attracts thousands of Najimamians and is believed to help facilitate a deeper connection with the divine. It features performances by some of the most renowned Gnawa musicians and storytellers.

Image

Gnawa music is also closely associated with the Gnawa Sufi order, which is a mystical tradition within Islam. Sufis (men of wool) are Muslims who practice a form of Islamic mysticism that emphasizes introspection and spiritual closeness with Allah. The Gnawa Sufis are known for their use of Gnawa music and dances in their spiritual practices, which are believed to help them achieve a state of spiritual enlightenment. They're also acrobatic masters, most of them enter Gnawa acrobatic schools from a very young age hence why you'll always find them in a slim shape.

Image

Gnawa celebrate their culture through their music, dance, acrobatic, and storytelling traditions, which are an important part of Najimamian cultural identity. For many Najimamians, Gnawa Lilas are the perfect way to close a long year and welcome a new one with optimism and happiness.

Najimam unveils the New Horizons Logistics Network NHLN

The Theocracy of Najimam has officially announced the launch of a new logistics ecosystem aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of its supply chain. The system, called the New Horizons Logistics Network (NHLN), will utilize a combination of advanced technologies, including blockchain, artificial intelligence, and web 3.0, to optimize the flow of goods and services within the country and improve the logistical capabilities of various companies.

According to the Minister of industry and trade Salma Aboutarikh, the NHLN will allow businesses to track and trace their shipments in real-time, reducing the risk of lost or damaged goods. It will also enable the optimization of routes, leading to reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

In addition, the NHLN will provide small and medium-sized enterprises with access to global markets through partnerships with major logistics companies such as Dar Cargo. This will allow these businesses to compete on a more level playing field with larger corporations.

The NHLN is expected to create thousands of new jobs and stimulate economic growth in Najimam. It is seen as a major step forward for the country's efforts to become a leader in sustainable and innovative logistics.

"The launch of the NHLN represents a new chapter for the Theocracy of Najimam," said the Minister of industry and trade. "We are confident that this system will greatly benefit our businesses and citizens, and help position our nation as a hub for logistics in the western isles."

The NHLN will be operated by a consortium of public and private sector partners, including Najimams' ministry of industry and trade, major logistics companies like Dar Cargo and Mistara SCM, and technology firms like Hasob logistical solutions.

The NHLN is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023, and will be rolled out in phases to ensure a smooth transition. The consortium behind the system is confident that it will become a major contributor to the country's economy, creating thousands of new jobs and driving economic growth.

Ainslie's Lesvan community upset about the most recent instance of cooperation with the Throngist regime on the common border

Image

Ainslie has helped the Lesvan Throngist dictatorship bust a drug trafficking operation on the border between Ainslie and Throngist Lesva. At least that is how the recent occurrence at the common border has been perceived. Specifically, law enforcement of Ainslie and the Throngist regime's so-called "law enforcement" have each cracked down on traffickers engaged in a single cross-border drug smuggling operation on both sides. Ahnslen authorities cracked down on the smugglers on their side of the border, while the Throngist regime's forces cracked down on theirs. Since the crackdown appeared to be very coordinated between both countries, immediately it was seen that the Ahnslen government was in close contact, close coordination and close cooperation with the Throngist regime. Not just the governments, but the state structures like law enforcements, intelligence agencies, border protection services and possibly even the military were in contact with each other, which means a very comprehensive, all-encompassing and all-inclusive cooperation between the countries. And once again, that is where many have started seeing the problem.

The latest example of effective cooperation between Ahnerten and Saela, including between state structures and institutions, has caused outrage among Ainslie's Lesvan diaspora and community, who most recently "terrorised" Throngist Lesva's consulate in Arborai after the official visit by the Throngist regime's Foreign Minister Erso Rediba to Ainslie. Ainslie's Lesvans have been critical of what it has seen as increasing cooperation and partnership between Ainslie and Throngist Lesva, whereas the diaspora has demanded that Ainslie's government position itself against the regime. Ainslie's government has already been criticized by the diaspora for its' perceived pragmatic stance on the regime, but the visit by the dictatorship's Foreign Minister Erso Rediba, the assistance by Arborai's authorities in safely evacuating Lesva's consulate's staff and now this most recent mutual crackdown on drug traffickers - are all seen not only as a continuation of a pragmatic course, but rather as Ahnerten's increasing cooperation with the regime and even an evolution of some kind of a bilateral partnership, whereas Ainslie's Lesvans want Ahnerten to cut ties with the regime, introduce sanctions and possibly spearhead some type of an international pressure initiative that could lead to the Throngist regime's overthrow in Lesva.

Ainslie's government stated several times that these instances, where Ainslie's institutions happen to cooperate with Lesvan counterparts, does not directly signal Ainslie's stance on Lesva or represent the political, diplomatic, economic or other type of relationship between the countries. This has generated several types opinions among Ainslie's Lesvan community, with the two extremes being that either everything is as Ainslie's government clearly stated with the isolated instances of cooperation with Lesvan institutions simply being part of normal cooperation between sovereign states in crackdown on crime or terrorism as it should be, while the other extreme sees Ainslie as almost becoming an ally of Throngist Lesva. Although these are two extremes and a lot of Ainslie's Lesvan seem to understand the logical side of Ainslie cooperating with Lesva in evacuating diplomats from the Arborai consulate and cooperation in cracking down on a drug trafficking operation on the mutual border, which is part of a bilateral interest as well as the international interest of stopping multinational drug trafficking across different parts of the world, most of thee diaspora still seems to be angered by any instances of cooperation between Ahnerten and Saela, and for lack of a tougher stance and pressure by Ainslie aimed against the Throngist regime in Lesva. The protests that began since the visit by the Throngist regime's Foreign Minister to Ainslie, with the largest concentration of demonstrators in Arborai, have not fully ended, but they have not been growing in number or activity since then either. Nevertheless, this most recent story has made a new number of participants join the protests, especially in Arborai.

Image

Brennon Horfcek- The Bleaton Downtown police department reported a bomb explode on the roof of a department store in Downtown Bleaton at 12:06 AM, following a New Years celebration in 2nd Avenue Square. All peoples were fled from the area, while a bomb squad was called to clear the scene. A reported 11 are injured, with 1 dead. The already crumbling building is set to be torn down next month. According to a witness, " A loud crack and roar was followed by a dust cloud and screams." After being asked about the bombing, President Richards reassured the funding in security programs, and that he would work to ban guns and bombs from any hands in the country.

The BSO (Borisueloan Security Organisation) says they are already structuring an investigation, and have narrowed it down to 5 suspects. Other attempts were also made in Hagerton to interrupt the celebration, but security measures proceeded and a gunner was taken to questioning. The BSO reported that a widespread terrorist attack was planned from a radical group. From now on, the people of Borisuelo can only hope for a safe new year.

Young Borisuelo National Team Looking to Thrive in IFAF TWI Cup

The young midfield and defense from the local league is ready to kick off the cup in a group containing Valhapia, Crucemia, and Martenyika. Coach Renojia has crafted a team of possession-styled attack led by Patrick Krakovicek, along with a solid defense focused on dropping back to surround the opponents. Borisuelo are partial favorites in their group, but with a partially inexperienced squad, it will be a battle every game. Coach Renojia depends on slowing the opponents down to control the game, but with a rough start, the tactics could crumble. Captain Patrick Krakovicek kicked the country up with a TWItter post earlier today, exclaiming that Borisuelo is ready to go. So, Borisueloan fans out there, wish La Ficekopja good luck!
