Glimpusmen take Corindia by Storm: Glimpusmen Ocean and Glimpusmen Forest, two recently released games by developer LoadLord Interactive, have quickly become the top selling games in Corindia after their heavily hyped release two weeks ago. The games place the player in the world of Glimpusmen where they collect, trade, and battle a wide variety of monsters known as "Glimpos". These Glimpos come in many forms, some of which transform from each other in a process known as "Reglimpifying" after the Glimpo has won enough battles or been traded to a friend. It appears that both children and adults alike are obsessed with adding every Glimpo to their collection, or "Glimpfolio", and many rare Glimpos have become the subject of significant speculation and envy.

LLI's Future Plans: LoadLord Interactive has stated that they plan to continue releasing new Glimpos to keep players scrambling to fill their Glimpfolios, and have gone so far as to say that players have so far discovered only three quarters of the Glimpos that have been added. This news has caused eager players to devote hours to increasingly elaborate attempts at Reglimpifying existing Glimpos, or simply attracting rare and unusual Glimpos to their games. After it was discovered that Sadfish could Reglimpify into Madfish only after being bullied by stronger Glimpos for a significant amount of time, players have tried, so far unsuccessfully, to allow it emotionally heal in an attempt to find the as of yet unseen Gladfish.

Other Media: Following the wildfire success of the Glimpusmen games, LLI is rumored to be working on a Glimpusmen television show, which would loosely follow the plots of the existing games, as well as tie-in toys and other products. What little Glimpusmen merchandise that already exists has been flying off the shelves, with retailers unable to keep up with the enormous demand for Glimpo figurines, physical Glimpfolios, and even graphic t-shirts.

Early polls favour Nationalists

The Saxman government will be resting a little easier tonight after a solid first day at the polls. The Nationalists have got 42% of the current vote. Although only 29% of voters have voted so far, historian Dr Casey Russo says, "Historically, if you win the first day, you have a 70% chance of winning the election."

The Socialist Party have 30% of the vote, while so far the Liberty Party have only 20%. Astonishingly, 8% have gone to the Reform Party! If this continues, they could become the first party outside the Big 3 to win a seat in the Jicovian House.

UPI attack in Keverai

The Union for Palo Independence (UPI) have launched an attack on a restaurant in Keverai. Police were called to the scene after neighbours heard gunshots. A SWAT team was sent in, and the insurgents engaged in an intense gunfight. All three shooters were killed, along with four civilians and two SWAT officers. The attacks were condemned by many, and show the escalating violence these groups are showing in Palo.

Minor earthquake felt near Raelen Bay

A Richter 5.6 earthquake has been felt along the Raelen fault line. The ground could be felt moving, although fortunately damage was minor. This is the seventh earthquake along the fault in two years, stoking fears of increased geological activity in the region. No injuries have been reported, and thankfully damage is negligible.

TERROR ATTACK AT EROSITHEGON WITH MANY FEARED DEAD
Domestic News
13th of January, 2021

ATHALYMOS, THASMON- A day of tragedy has struck Roendavar as the festival of Iralia and the night of Erosithegon was attacked by terrorists at midnight of January 13. An estimated 430 has been killed, with thousands injured. Many came home traumatized and scarred, undoubtedly changed by the gruesome and violent attacks that hit Roendavar earlier this morning.

This year's Erosithegon was attended by 80,000 who undertook the yearly pilgrimage to the holy mountain. This was less than last year's Erosithegon but more than what was expected after the tragedy of Thersos that killed 31 more than a week ago. Mount Athalymos is located kilometers south-east of Dociara deep within the Thasmon Line, with only a single road connecting the mountain to the rest of Roendavarian civilization. The Archian Way was a long road that served as the main entrance and exit to the Thasmon towards Mount Athalymos, and it was equipped every significant interval with emergency response temporary buildings during the Festival of Iralia. Because the event was generally peaceful, no additional security was deployed and no screening was conducted of the festival grounds before it started.

The pilgrimage left Dociara at around 11:36 AM of the morning of January 12, entering the Thasmon at 1:12 PM. They continued without issue until they reached the holy mountain at 10:39 PM. At around 12:04 AM during the bulk of the festival, a massive explosion detonated after the Song of the Erosithegon began. According to several witnesses, the explosion came from underneath the stage. This initial blast killed 211 due to its sheer power and damage, its victims including members of the Roendavarian Royal Orchestra who were performing at the stage during that time. Police investigators concluded that the blast was made by an ignition of explosive devices underneath a layer of fertilizer that was planted prior to the event, covered in items that masked its appearance and scent.

The explosion made the crowd panic and they all made a frantic exit down the mountain. This was when figures described by festival-goers as "white cloaked masked men with jewels in their eyes shaped like a tear" emerged from the surrounding forests and began attacking the crowd through a mixture of knives and guns. The Roendavarian Royal Guard, numbering around 67, and the Roendavarian Police, around 117 at most, could not control the crowd as they rushed to intercept the armed attackers. Halfway down the mountain, majority of the crowd converged at the Iathcalin Platform, a flat portion of the mountain halfway its slopes in order to begin the steep descent down. Around 12:21, a second bomb detonated at the platform, killing several and forcing people to hurry down the steep steps, causing a stampede.

At around 12:28, the third and final bomb detonated at the stone arch at the entrance of Mount Athalymos. This only killed around 3 as majority of the crowd haven't gone down the mountain yet. All the while, several of the cloaked figures harassed and attacked the descending crowd. Fatalities by the cloaked figures are still unclear, however, from reports, it was estimated around 150 judging from corpses with stab wounds and gunshots.

While Mount Athalymos is a remote place, the Archian Way had several emergency posts and services on standby. However, they were minimal with limited supplies. A full supply and support convoy from Dociara was eventually dispatched and arrived at the mountain 1 hour later at around 1:18 AM. The Roendavarian Royal Guard was mobilized and arrived on the scene at around 1:32 AM. The most injured of the survivors were first taken back, with those unscathed being evacuate last. Mount Athalymos was eventually evacuated by 3:46 AM, leaving the Roendavarian Bureau of Investigation and the Agents of the Rose to investigate the aftermath of the attack.

The Roendavarian Bureau of Investigation has concluded that this attack was instigated by the Cricenexinos. This has been denied by Arveimeion Calnaris of Frecun, stating that the Cricenexinos could "do no such thing to tarnish their good reputation in Roendavar nor hurt their lands". This has been rebutted by several eyewitness reports and photographs that provided evidence that they were part of the Cricenexinos, though specific cults have not yet been identified. Several photographs were also taken of uniformed armed men that did not look Roendavarian, prompting the Roendavarian Bureau of Investigation to conclude that foreign mercenaries were part of the attack and it is unclear how they managed to enter Roendavar and participate in such an attack.

i Florin Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias was the first to comment on the disaster, quote "The disaster that has scarred Erosithegon has been perpetuated by those who seek to upturn the peace of this country. What happened earlier this morning is a clear sign that there are those who will stop at nothing only to get their point across. I assure the Roendavarian people that we will not back down in the face of such an attack and I am urging the four governments of Roendavar to immediately respond to this new threat that has enveloped our country."

Overnight, people have demanded the High Council to answer to the people why they allowed the event to have loose security, especially after the massacre of Thersos more than a week ago. So far, the High Council has released a statement confirming the attacks on Erosithegon and a promise for a swift investigation of the attack. Meanwhile, the Hall of the People have passed a People's Decree to urge all citizens of Roendavar to call for justice and accountability from the government, with several planned demonstrations and rallies to be organized soon.

This is now the second deadliest terror attack in Roendavarian history, between the 1969 Treiorevicos that killed 218 and the Perlos Incident that killed 672. It is currently the deadliest terror attack on Roendavarian soil for the 21st century and the deadliest for incidents involving the Cricenexinos.

More Debris from Flight 417 are Found

Image
An item belonging to a passenger on the doomed plane
Cappareus - More news have been given about a missing aircraft which is though to have crashed in international waters on Monday night. The aircraft was a Yak 44 operating as Lacoa flight 417 and was heading from Levitsky International airport in Cappareus to Arnton Sturt-Condor International Airport in Arnton, Ainslie. It was due to takeoff at 11:45 PM and land at 6:05 AM local time. There are 196 people on board including 7 crew members. Most passengers were Hyukaian, Ahnslens. Some Biatenians were also on board, hoping to catch a connecting flight back to Biaten. After being passed from many Hyukaian cities, the aircraft made it's last contact with controllers in Fort Campbell at 2:40 AM and was supposed to be in a communication dead zone until 3:45 AM where it could finally be in Ainslie Radar or more specifically, controllers in Port Blaxton. But for some reason the aircraft never reached Ainslie and a search was made immediately by Hyukai, Ainslie and Corsitilia. Tuesday saw nothing but Wednesday saw debris. This morning, more debris are found causing a fear that the aircraft crashed. "We have set up a crisis centre in Cappareus. Our investigators however, are having a hard time finding any answers since we don't have enough data. That is why we are searching very hard for the black boxes.", said lead investigator Josh A. Gretter. More updates will be given later

Recap of the Last Chancellor Debate
By: Omar Tilden

It was the final night for voters to hear from the two candidates running for Chancellor. Here's the recap of it.

- How do you feel about Essena's working with the The Western Isles Climate Response Council (TWICRC)? Do you think the council made a good decision to work with them?

Abraham Moore's Response: "Working with the The Western Isles Climate Response Council was a very good idea. The work they do helps us, not only is it good to have a united force working for the environment; it is also good for strengthening our relation with other countries."

James G. Whitmore's Response: "I do think working with the TWICRC is beneficial for Essena. But we must make sure Essenians have the final say on what is done in our territory."

- Protest vs. Riots, What's your stance?

Abraham Moore's Response: "To me the difference must be assessed with every scenario. But I do feel that when a protest turns into a riot, it must be stopped or quelled to are more manageable protest. We wouldn't want people storming any federal buildings. We also need to make sure people are treated fairly and that police are also held liable to their actions."

James G. Whitmore's Response: "My standpoint is this it is alright to protest within the guidelines set. But once a riot happens our the protest is being held unlawfully then it is law enforcement's duty to quell or stop it. We've seen failure of law enforcement not being supported. Well I'll make a clear statement on that, if elected the law enforcement of Essena will be supported.

- If elected, What do you want to be known for after you leave office?

Abraham Moore's Response: "If elected I would like be known as a patron for the arts and education. I believe that educating not only the youth but the also the old. I believe if given a level of education someone can succeed and live a comfortable life."

James G. Whitmore's Response: "If I am elected I would like to be known for building up the Essenian military, growing businesses, and making Essena the place to visit. I want to leave office knowing Essena is one of the top leaders in international politics."

So many tough questions with so many tough answers. This has been the last debate before the election; both candidates hoping they have made a strong case for the Essenian people to vote for them. We will see when the elections for Chancellor happen tomorrow!

Two teenagers who, on New Years Day attacked HM King Edward II with a cream pie have been charged with treason under the Criminal Code of Serpens Land. The two teens carried out their actions while the King was attending the annual New Years Day parade in Fort Charlotte.

The attack was supposedly carried out as a protest against the Serpens Land monarchy. Thankfully, the King was unharmed during the attack. The Royal Household's top security advisor has since resigned following the attack, due to what he said was an "unacceptable lack of security" during the event.

This has been the first time in over 50 years that someone has been charged with treason in Serpens Land. The two teenagers were each fined £10,000 and ordered to serve a month in house arrest.

Last Minute Votes! DFP Proposal Passes!

On Monday, the Domanania First Party put forward a bill that was considered extremely liberal, especially for the historically far-right party. The bill would amend the constitution to remove an article that outlined a religious permit system, that forced people not of Domanania's official religion to pay a ₺50 fee.

On Monday, the preliminary vote stood locked at 85 for and 95 against. A majority of the Opposition coalition supported the bill, while members of the Government coalition were against it, with 15 congressmen abstaining. On Wednesday, a second vote was held, including the crossbench controlled by the Free Party. Every member of the cross bench voted in favor, bringing the vote to 90-95. With the closing gap, there was a 24 hour recess before the final vote on Friday.

During the last meeting for the vote, three members of the National Party switched their votes in favor, which caused a massive uproar among their party members. Then, in another major upset, four of the abstaining DLP members voted in favor. Bringing the final vote to 97-92. The Government Coalition was said to be loud, angry, and belligerent towards the members of the NP and DLP. Both parties were so upset, that after the Vice President and Speaker called in favor of the proposal that his party put forward, the chamber had to be cleared to avoid a fight to break out.

With the bill passing, the amendment will take effect at in six months. Many people are upset by parts of the bill, as it does not expunge the record of and free those fined and convicted previously by the bill, or providing protection during the next 6 months. Inversely, many constituents wonder why members of their party (primarily the NP and DLP) voted against the bill, or abstained.

What ever the reason, many agree that this is a big win for the DFP, as a majority of voters are pleased with the removal of a discriminatory, and outdated law.

New game "Glimpusmen" taking New Jacobland by storm

Indie game Glimpusmen is surging after its highly anticipated Jacobland release yesterday. It is believed two million copies in total of both games have been sold. Critics have been extremely positive about the game, it scoring a 9.6/10 on Critico.com and 98% on Gamecritic.com.

The game is about collecting 'Glimpos'. This can be achieved by either collecting them or 'Reglimpifying' them. Reglimpifying is when a Glimpo morphs into another Glimpo. Normally a Glimpo has to achieve a goal before it can Reglimpify. For instance, Egglin Reglimpifies to Torkey after winning battles.

Gordon Horton: "This game is surging in popularity, and it's easy to see why. The artwork and gameplay are unmatched, and the game is very fun and easy to pick up."

In other news:
Election continues!

The election continues to look good for Saxman and his government, with their Nationalist Party holding pluralities in all three states. 78% of votes have been entered, meaning anything could happen tomorrow, the final day. The current status in each state is below:

MALLARD to retire; ANSA and Rowlands to shift focus

Image

The Alteran National Space Agency and Rowlands are joining forces for a study into how nuclear power technologies could be used as part of space exploration.

This announcement, which was made by A.N.S.A. in the early hours of Friday morning, was released on the back of a previously vague press release that stated the retirement of the MALLARD programme.

MALLARD - which has seen use within Altera for several decades - has been the main vehicle for launching material from Altera into space, most notably resupplying the Regional Space Station.

However, as budgets have become ever tighter - particularly with the ongoing costs of the crisis in the Central Canal - A.N.S.A. were asked to look into scaling down their operations and look for more cost-effective and long term solutions.

With the success of the Firefly launch vehicle, A.N.S.A. has been looking into wider use of reusable rocket systems.

On such a promising system is the entirely privately funded "Venture" project - a small, lightweight reusable rocket system in development by Rowlands.

However, A.N.S.A. isn't looking to Rowlands just for more launch vehicles - they have also announced a research contract with the Alteran engineering firm.

The Alteran National Space Agency say that this new research contract will see planetary scientists work together to explore the game-changing potential of nuclear power as a more plentiful source of energy, capable of making possible deeper space exploration in the decades to come.

Nuclear propulsion, which would involve channelling the immense energy released in splitting the atom to accelerate propellants, like hydrogen, at huge speeds, has the potential to revolutionise space travel. By some estimates, this kind of engine could be twice as efficient as the chemical engines that power our rockets today. Spacecraft powered by this kind of engine could, conceivably, make it to Mars in just three to four months – roughly half the time of the fastest possible trip in a spacecraft using the current chemical propulsion.

Nuclear space power is anticipated to create new skilled jobs across the AR to support the burgeoning AR space economy.

The Praetor for Industry and Infrastructure, Myong Bedrose, said:

As we build back better from the pandemic, it is partnerships like this between business, industry and government that will help to create jobs and bring forward pioneering innovations that will advance AR spaceflight. Nuclear power presents transformative possibilities for space exploration and this innovative study with Rowlands could help to propel our next generation of astronauts into space faster and for longer, significantly increasing our knowledge of the universe.

Dr Hurbert Dimmick, Chief Executive of the Alteran National Space Agency, said:

Space nuclear power and propulsion is a game-changing concept that could unlock future deep-space missions that take us to Mars and beyond. This study will help us understand the exciting potential of atomic-powered spacecraft, and whether this nascent technology could help us travel further and faster through space than ever before.

Emlyn Sara, Curia Consol Representative for Rowlands said:

We are excited to be working with the Alteran National Space Agency on this pioneering project to define future nuclear power technologies for space. We believe there is a real niche AR capability in this area and this initiative can build on the strong AR nuclear network and supply chain. We look forward to developing this and other exciting space projects in the future as we continue to develop the power to protect our planet, secure our world and explore our universe.

The Alteran National Space Agency added that developments in this field would not just mean a time-saving – it would also radically reduce the dose of radiation taken on by astronauts that would be making future trips to Mars or other planets.

The size of the dose increases the longer you spend in deep space, away from the bubble of protection given by the Earth’s magnetosphere. The appeal of a small nuclear power generator for propulsion also comes from the fact that power in space becomes increasingly precious with distance from the Sun. In the outer solar system, sunlight gets too dim for solar panels and other technologies like fuel cells are often too patchy as a source of energy.

Nuclear propulsion has long been the dream of both science fiction writers and cosmonauts alike - this time, Altera is making that dream become a reality.

Election Over!

The 2021 federal election is over. Three weeks of intense campaigning, with millions spent, all came down to this. This was a close one, with the incumbent Nationalist Party looking dominant throughout, before a late swing in favour of the Socialists. We had a very good voter turnout of 98.73%, with the rest of course receiving U$100 fine under the new compulsory voting scheme. Here are the results, broken down state by state:

StateNationalistSocialistLibertyReform
Anholia20(+5)12122
Kiyer1011(+5)74
Palo134(+2)4(+2)
Total36312512

Aaron Saxman sent a press release shortly after the result was declared, saying,"Thank you to all the voters who voted Nationalist, who voted for a better New Jacobland. I look forward to working with the new Reform Party, and I hope I will serve you well."

Election experts are shocked by the massive debut of the Reform Party, a radical party believing in 'Efficientism'. It is clear they will be a power in the Jicovian House, holding 12 of 104 seats. The party are the first non-NSL party to achieve a seat.

I FLORIN CELION VISITS THROMSA, ROYAL TOUR CONTINUES IN APROSIA
Politics and International Relations
18th of January, 2021

SAINTS, THROMSA- i Florin Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias landed on Saints, Thromsa on January 11 as part of the Roendavarian monarch's visit to the country's close allies and partners. Thromsonian-Roendavarieil relations are regarded as one of the closest in the Western Isles and one of two of Roendavar's partners in Gael. Both countries are also members of the Northern Isles Security Council.

The Roendavarieil monarch began his tour on January 12 and spent the first three days of the tour on the city of Saints. He was greeted at the King George VI Airport by Thromsonian high government officials, including: Thromsonian President Ralph Dawson, Prime-Minister Booker Jepson, Speaker of the Senate Arianne Pelletier, Lord of the Articles Dutch McDaniel, Deputy-Prime-Minister Violette Tasse, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Marshal English, along with the Roendavarieil Ambassador to Thromsa, ai-Fel. Athveria Lasthreil Vanthrain, among others. After the welcome, both parties had an informal lunch at the Prince George Palace, its menu consisting of foods and beverages from both countries.

On the second day in Saints, i Florin Celion had a meeting with the Students' Union of the University of Saints, tackling topics such as youth participation in politics and governance, the role of students in societal change, and many more. The Roendavarieil monarch is known for being one of the few monarchs to have attended the Pilonas-Lacsandarieth and the first to have joined the Students' Union of the Hall of the People, making the topic much closer to him. The monarch also had a private meeting with the Roendavarieth students in the university. In the afternoon, the Roendavarieil monarch received the Keys to the city from the Mayor Melissa Hill after a public ceremony.

The third day in Saints saw the King visit the Museum of Modern Art in Saints. While modern art is not new in Roendavar, i Florin Celion commented on how "spectacular" the modern arts scene was in Thromsa. It was reported that he was ecstatic for much of the trip in the Museum of Modern Art, talking lengths about how Thromsonian Modern Art was more expressive and free than their Roendavarieil counterparts and listened intently when various works of art was explained to him. Afterwards, he took the public train, a move insisted by the King himself, to Villefranche-de-L'Hôpital, the next city on the Thromsa trip.

His fourth day in Thromsa was in Villefranche-de-L'Hôpital. After touring the city in the morning, he was invited to a formal state dinner at the Official Residence of the President, Olivet Hall, where the Roendavarieil delegation dined with the Thromsonian counterparts. A myriad of topics were discussed, including economic cooperation, the topic of Thromsa's inclusion in the Gael Four, stronger diplomatic ties, and many more. Afterwards, the Roendavarieil King stayed for the night at the Olivet Hall. The next day, i Florin Celion was awarded the Cross of Merit by the Thromsonian President Ralph Dawson as well as the Keys to the City of Villefranche-de-L'Hôpital by Intendant Héloïse Allard. Both the Roendavarieil King and the Thromsonian President boarded the Presidential Train to the city of Orleans.

The fifth day of the Thromsa trip was in Orleans where he visited the Roendavarieil Embassy in the city and met with ai-Fel. Athveria Lasthreil Vanthrain. The two had lunch in the embassy and discussed ways on how to open up relations and cooperation between Roendavar and Thromsa. The monarch also asked for advice and information on what to expect from Thromsa. After the visit to the embassy, he attended a ceremony where he was presented the Keys to the City by Mayor Joffrey Giroux.

On the sixth day, i Florin Celion visited 3 Wyndham Street, the Official Residence of the Prime Minister. They discussed the matter of Roendavarieil-Thromsonian relations and reached agreements regarding increased economic and diplomatic ties. After the meeting, a state dinner was held in 3 Wyndham Street. He left for Faucheux Manor in the evening and left Thromsa the next morning by the Thibaut Girard Airport. The Roendavarian monarch's next destination is the country of Aprosia.

The Roendavarieil government sees this as a step forward in the relations between the two countries of Thromsa and Roendavar. i Florin Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias described his trip to Thromsa as "fruitful and understanding" and described the welcome of the country as "warm and cordial, as expected of a country with which we have a budding relationship". While most Thromsonians are neutral on the matter, reports say that the mood is welcoming and friendly and the hops are that the two countries would be closer in terms of economy, culture, diplomacy, education, and many more.

O'Connor Announces Plans for Infrastructure Development

At a press conference last night, Prime Minister Jeremy O'Connor announced that his administration has plans to rebuild crumbling rural infrastructure. Correspondents in the presidential palace report that he has appointed a new infrastructure adviser that has yet to be announced.

"The agriculture industry is the heart of our nation," O'Connor said to reporters outside of the parliament building. "Without proper infrastructure, our agriculture dies."

Concerns Over Mining's Environmental Impact Left Unanswered

Despite several environmental groups protesting this December, Prime Minister O'Connor did not mention in his address last night if he'd move towards restrictions against mining in Westmoor. The mining industry has been a major part of Westmoor's economy ever since its independence but the environmental toll it has had is severe, report environmental scientists working for the Westmoor government. According to environmentalists, several acres of woodlands have been destroyed to expand mining operations, large amounts of mercury has leaked into natural waterways, and there are countless carbon emissions from transportation of minerals. Progressive, Labour, and even some Liberty Party politicians have voiced their concerns about these dangerous mining practices. Despite this support, O'Connor made no mention at his conference last night for plans of placing greater environmental controls.

Some have accused O'Connor of acting in his self-interest by avoiding the topic of mining restrictions. His family founded the O'Connor Mining and Quarry Industries and his brother, Armand O'Connor, still runs the company to this day. These accusations have been repeatedly shot down by O'Connor, who claims that they are just "vicious rumours" and "yet another attempted smear campaign."

Precious metals and minerals form the backbone of several industries in Westmoor and many Conservatives and Liberty supporters feel that environmental regulations would lose hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs. Lieutenant Representative Lee Nguyen voiced his support for lessening restrictions on mining.

"What we're looking at here is the destruction of our economy," Nguyen stated last November when environmentalist protests were at their peak. "Not only would we lose out on precious metals but we'd also see the abandonment of dozens of cities founded on mineral veins. That means hundreds of restaurants, hotels, schools, and hospitals would shut down. Shutting down the mines means shutting down our entire economy."

Minister of Foreign Affairs announces resignation as President of the Senate and addresses nation regarding plane disappearance

In a press conference today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Carter Eldridge addressed the nation on the disappearance of Flight 417, a plane that is thought to have crashed while flying from Hyukai to Ainslie.

“It has come to our attention that a plane, Flight 417, with a large number of our people on board may have crashed while flying from Hyukai to Ainslie. This has not yet been confirmed, but we are currently in deliberation with the Ahnslen and Hyukaian governments in order to locate the plane. It is our grave concern that the plane may have crashed. We will be in contact with the families of the passengers as soon as new information comes to light.”

In the conference, the Minister also announced that he will resign as President of the Senate after the upcoming Senate Election.

“As you all know, our Republic is currently abandoning its policy of global neutrality and working to build alliances and participate in global organisations. This is a project that requires my full attention, and so today I must announce that I will not be seeking re-election as President of the Senate. It has been a great honour to serve as the President of our first Senate, but it has become unfeasible for me to both go abroad to negotiate new deals for our nation and preside over our upper house. I will, however, remain as a Senator, provided that my constituents allow me to do so, and I will continue to lead my party in the Senate as Majority Leader should our party remain as the majority party after this election. Senate Majority leader, Senator Montgomery Waterman, will be forwarded as our candidate as President of the Senate for the next Senate President election, a man who is experienced as much as I am, and has often presided over the Senate in my absence.”

Electoral Commission Announces Election Timetable

The Electoral Commission has published a timetable, outlying the times at which people may apply for candidacy and when people should sign up to the electoral register in order to vote. The timetable does not vary from previous timetables.

1st February – Individuals and parties may apply for candidacy.
1st March – Applications for candidacy closed.
1st May – Last day to register to vote and to request a postal vote.
6th May – Election day.
7th May – Results of the election will be announced.

The Electoral Commission has also agreed that the Eadshire by-election should coincide with the Senate Election.

New Chancellor Elected with the National Assembly Has His Back
By: Rita Kuna

After an end to a historic election the Essenian Post can project that Abraham Moore will become the first Chancellor of Essena, by beating James G. Whitmore by garnering the most popular votes. The popular votes stands at Abraham Moore at 150,320 votes and James G. Whitmore at 149,680 votes. James G. Whitmore has not conceded yet saying he will what for the Districts to certify the votes before conceding defeat. In a speech to his supporters Abraham said this "In a historic election the people of Essena has chosen me to be their first Chancellor. With the people's blessing and vote I will take it as a mandate to bring Essena to a better future and I will execute the office of Chancellor to the best of my abilities. Thank you Essena for giving me your approval to govern. I will make sure a govern for both my supporters and my detractors. Let us make sure this election does not bring about hate and division but healing and understanding. Thank you!" The newly elected Chancellor's inauguration will take place next week. Starting with the swearing in ceremony at Essenian Assembly Parliament Building then a parade all the way to the National Red House. Because this is the first Chancellor in Essena history many invitations have been sent out to many countries. From now to next week preparation will be ongoing for the first inauguration. Many Essenians are already planning to take off and head to Fredericksburg to witness history.

Also the Representatives Party has only won the majority for the Assembly elections; gaining 55 seats compared to the 45 seats the Federalists won. The Representative party has chosen Myra David to be the first Speaker of the Assembly. With the Representatives gaining a majority in the Assembly Chancellor Abraham Moore will have an easy time transitioning to the higher office and will be able to push out more legislation.

Arnton, WL - Sunny. Max: 13C Min: -2C

DOMESTIC: Ahnslens mourn after plane crash kills 189

ARNTON (AN) - Thousands of Ahnslens have turned out for funerals over the past three days, following the deaths of 189 people - fifty-six of those being Ahnslens after their plane crashed in international waters near Thromsonian waters. Over sixty separate ceremonies were held, including state funerals in Arnton, Arborai and Mandara.

In Arnton, a young family spoke of their father who had been coming home from a business trip. His name was Jenda Arellen and he was 33. In a five minute address to the hundreds who attended the funeral, they spoke of the deceaseds’ charm, charisma, honesty and integrity in everything he did.

Prime Minister Elliana Gifford attended that funeral and offered short remarks in response to the tragedy.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the one hundred and ninety six people who died on flight 417. I especially want to extend it to the family and friends of the fifty six Ahnslens on that flight. The stories I have heard from speaking to their wives, their husbands, mothers, fathers… daughters, sons and mates are truly humbling and inspiring. I wish I had the opportunity to meet them all and just sit down and talk with them.

However, there are things that need to be done. We need answers, we need comfort and I know that I will be leading my Government with open arms to all those grieving today. We want to support you. We want to be standing there with you and we are right beside you. On behalf of the Ahnslen people, we are with you in this time and also well into the future. We can get through this together. We will find comfort and peace - it won’t be easy, but it will be there and with enough luck through the relentless efforts of our diligent investigators we will strive to find answers for the ones who are grieving… the ones who are still in shock… those who are angry… and for all Ahnslens in this tragedy.

May the Lord keep us. May the eternal God and His living word be near to us. My wish is that we will continue to see his goodness in the land of the living - and all the more when we reunite with those we have lost in recent days. Rest in peace, my fellow Ahnslens. You will not be forgotten.”

In Mandara, former Prime Minister Andrew Kenzai commemorated and grieved with the families at the state funeral held there earlier this morning. He also revealed that a close friend of his was on that flight.

Later in the day, Media Officer Kari Tarlow held a press conference updating the press on the events of the day from the Risden Offices in Arnton.

Once again, the question of whether there would be a day of mourning was raised. This is what she said.

“Our hearts are hurting upon hearing this news. However, we do not believe that it is appropriate to have a day of mourning. Rest assured, the Executive Office (of the PM) has made sure that the family and friends of the deceaseds could get to the funeral and frankly that’s what we’ve been spending our time doing.”

She also confirmed that a memorial would be built in Arnton’s CBD to remember those who died in the crash. Further, it was implied that the Office was already seeking consultation on the design and location of that.

Meanwhile, an impromptu memorial has appeared outside of Terminal 3 of Sturt-Condor Airport in Arnton where the plane was due to land. A seat of flowers now line the pathway along the glass exterior of the airport. The Airport’s CEO today welcomed the temporary site, pledging its support to the mourners and deploying additional resources to manage the steady stream of people making their way to the airport to pay tribute.

It remains unclear the exact reason that the aeroplane crashed over the Eterna Sea. Hyukaian investigators, working with Ahnslen and Thromsonian authorities are continuing to uncover and analyse evidence.

DOMESTIC: New plan brings emergency alerts to social media

ARNTON (AN) - The Federal Emergency Warning System in Ainslie is to be fully rolled out onto all major social media platforms in the nation, the Government confirmed today. This marks a further widening of the system from its origins as a radio service to the formats of radio, public address, mobile and internet as well. Media Officer Kari Tarlow was joined by Prime Minister Elliane Gifford and ERA Director Charlie Endarin at the daily press conference at the Risden Offices today. First to speak was Endarin:

“Our system is one of the best of our peers. However, there remains to be several occasions where our alert system has simply not been wide or far enough to reach people or alternatively has been slower than we’d like. In a pioneering collaboration with tech companies such as TWItter, we will be able to add additional authority, importance and prominence to the important messages Emergency Responders Ainslie send out.

We are also working deeply with the companies to build a way in which alerts can come directly from the app or to have some kind of function within it that pushes up the alerts the ERA send.”

Endarin also continued by reinforcing the importance of the traditional mode that brings emergency alerts to Ahnslens.

“Whilst we are pleased to see our alerts getting further reach over multiple platforms, it remains vitally important that every house in Ainslie has a battery powered radio. Wireless internet can still go down, as can electricity and mobile towers during or immediately before natural disasters. It is very important that Ahnslens do not rely on social networks or any other medium that’s not radio.”

The plan has been met with strong support at Ainslie and abroad, with rumours suggesting that foreign governments are looking closely at the Federal Government’s plans and strategies with a view to implement them domestically. The Institute of Disaster Preparedness from the University of Wesland also issued a statement applauding the move.

Labour Protest Ends with Bloodshed and Burning National Bank

Image

Protestors Clash in Black Creek's Capital District

This Tuesday morning, a protest against the increasing military budget was staged by Labour Party protestors. What initially began as a peaceful protest went on to end in bloodshed when a group of counter-protestors from the National Interest Party stormed through lines of police officers protecting the Labour protestors. Gunshots rang out in front of the headquarters of the Westmoorish National Bank where the protests had begun, leaving five dead and several injured. Both protestors and counter-protestors left the scene dead or injured, making it unclear who fired on whom, how many people were armed, and what exactly incited the violence. Police report that no on-site officers fired weapons.

As tactical police arrived on-scene, the protest-turned-violent broke out into a full-on riot. Chaos poured through the capital's streets and masked rioters on both sides brandished makeshift weapons and homemade incendiaries. Several local businesses had windows broken by these rioters and a jewelry store was looted with security guards unable to hold back the rioters. By 1 PM, the entire capital and the Presidential Palace had been put on lockdown. A 6 PM curfew is now in place for the next week.

By 2 PM the scene only got worse as large flames began billowing out of the second floor window of the Westmoorish National Bank. The building was evacuated and military guard stationed in the capital city were deployed on the scene to ensure that all evacuees were safely escorted off the premises. The fires were quickly put out with the only damages to the building being the destruction of one computer and a conference room. A search of the building has led police to believe that the fire was not caused by someone present within the building and attribute it to one of the homemade incendiaries witnessed being wielded by rioters.

Prime Minister O'Connor has yet to make a statement addressing the riot.

Police have made eight arrests following the violence and are requesting any information regarding other perpetrators.

"Utterly Reprehensible" - Prime Minister Ødegaard slams the Hospitaller West Indies following news of cruel executions

Image
- The Prime Minister spoke before parliament this morning

By Kristofer Janssen

Prime Minister Jens Ødegaard unleashed a scathing attack on the Hospitaller West Indies this morning, after it became apparent that alleged pirates had been sentenced to death in unimaginably cruel ways. The Liberal Prime Minister, serving since 2017, had already reassured Parliament that any "pirate-like threats" from the Indies would be promptly dealt with by the Navy, after a cross-Parliament group of MPs penned a letter to Mr. Ødegaard last week. However, news had surfaced this morning from The Daily Sloop, a newspaper from the Hospitaller West Indies, that executions of pirates had taken place in the morning. An image showing at least 5 so-called pirates being executed was provided in the paper.

The method of execution used in the Indies, affectionately named "gibbeting", involves suspending the condemned in a small cage above the ground, where they die a slow and painful death, exposed to the elements, starvation and thirst. Prime Minister Ødegaard slammed this method of execution as "cruel and unusual" and expressed his confusion as to why a country in the current world still retains the death penalty. The Prime Minister made frequent reference to Nurbaria's own stance on the death penalty as well as the Constitution. The death penalty has not been explicitly outlawed under law, but the Constitution forbids "cruel and unusual punishment". Following the case of Marnus Solberg in 1923, where Solberg murdered a man and was controversially sentenced to death, his legal team appealed, and the Supreme Court determined that the death penalty would be in contravention of the Constitution, and found it to be a "cruel and unusual punishment". This Supreme Court ruling has been upheld every time it has been challenged.

The Prime Minister held up a single A3 sheet with the front page of The Daily Sloop before Parliament, much to the chamber's disgust. Backbenchers could be heard shouting "awful" and "disgraceful" as Mr Ødegaard demonstrated the filth unfolding across the Nurbaran Channel. The Prime Minister then said that the Nurbaran Ambassador to the Hospitaller West Indies has also passed on the nation's disgust in a letter to the Indies' Foreign Secretary.

Prime Minister Ødegaard has also threatened to completely stop the already limited trade between Nurbaria and the Indies if the country does not change its ways. "Although I am fully aware our words are just words, and the Indies are within their right to dictate their own laws, we cannot simply ignore the happenings from within" he said, "all we ask of the Indies, is that these most recent executions are the last, and that this awful method of execution ceases".

Potential courses of action aside from trade boycotts include expulsion of the Indies Ambassador to Nurbaria, financial sanctions and even bringing the case before the International Court of Justice. The Hospitaller West Indies are yet to respond.

Pres. Hallowell hospitalized overnight with diabetic hypoglycemia

Image
President Alasdair Hallowell (center) speaks with a member of his security detail after speaking about drug prices at Carldon Hall, Ellsburgh, on January 20, 2021.

ELLSBURGH- President Alasdair Hallowell was hospitalized Tuesday evening in Ellsburgh after suffering an episode of diabetic shock, according to spokespeople from his press office.

The president, 57, who has Type 2 diabetes, experienced dizziness, shakiness, and profuse sweating typically associated with low blood sugar levels, according to Dr. Adam Yates, the chief physician attending at Carldon Hall. He was taken in a limousine from the presidential residence to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he remained overnight before returning home on Wednesday morning.

Personnel of the Special Security Service were seen to swarm around the entrances to the hospital as news media gathered outside. The first lady and the president's children arrived in an unmarked van, to be quickly escorted through the doors of the building.

Mr. Hallowell published a message on Twitter around 11 pm on Tuesday night, thanking members of the public and his colleagues in government for their well-wishes.

Tuesday's incident marks the first time that Mr. Hallowell has been hospitalized during his presidency, which will soon enter its fifth year. Despite suffering from diabetes, the president has been in generally good health, and is known to enjoy playing soccer and riding a bicycle. His first deputy president, Michael Jardine, resigned in 2019 after experiencing a severe health crisis.

According to a statement from Dr. Yates, the president will undergo a full physical examination sometime next month, "to reassure the Almorean public about the robust state of his health and constitution."

During his stay in hospital, Mr. Hallowell remained "conscious and in good spirits", and was not required to authorize a temporary transfer of his powers to Deputy President Nora Soodalter. Mrs. Soodalter was summoned to Carldon Hall on Tuesday evening, after Mr. Hallowell had been hospitalized, and met with the secretaries of state and the interior, before the three travelled to Good Samaritan Hospital by motorcade to visit the president.

On February 18, Mr. Hallowell is scheduled to make a major address at the opening of the new Congress, one of the most important ceremonies on the Almorean political calendar. The president said last week that he is "excited" about the speech, which is expected to include policy proposals such as an expansion of the Health Aid program, reforms to federal law enforcement, the opening of the Raedlon Trade Council, and a reauthorization of Almorean troops in the Western Magarati federation through 2022.

"It's gonna be a great speech. We're gonna be talking about the budget, about health insurance, healthcare, getting people healthcare. We've put together a very big list," Mr. Hallowell said at the time. "We're gonna be opening the Raedlon trade group, the Raedlon trade thing in Frasyrland. I want to trade with other countries, people don't understand. I want to trade with other countries."

APROSIAN TOUR 'A SUCCESS', I FLORIN CELION FLIES TO THE INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT FOR GALA
Politics and International Relations
28th of January, 2021

DAŠARÓD, APROSIA- A rare sight in the realm of Roendavarieil politics as i Florin Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias toured the Aprosian People's Democratic Union, also known as Aprosia, as part of the Royal Tour. He would be the first Roendavarieil monarch to have ever visited Aprosia, signifying a normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries at the height of increased cooperation between the two.

On January 18, i Florin Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias landed in Dašaród International where he was welcomed by members of the Aprosian government. The entire 8 day tour was described to be 'solely professional' by the Royal Press. The Roendavarieil monarch visited the Council of States on January 19 and had a meeting with a majority of the Aprosians heads of state. During a formal speech, the Roendavarieil King expressed understanding and cooperation between the two countries, quote,

"...and it is, perhaps, a greater circumstance in which brings both our countries together for a purpose. It is not the differences that set what we be, but our similarities set what shall be. Similar interests, similar goals, similar missions, a similar vision for a future. This... this is why our two countries stand together today and, in goodwill, beyond."

Part of the Royal Tour in Aprosia included the King's visits to Roendavarieil investments in Aprosia, including factories, to assess their conditions. The following days of the tour focused on formalizing economic cooperation between the two countries. The Roendavarieil monarch has promised to allocate more investments into Aprosia in terms of economic growth, energy, social programs, and many more. A series of agreements were signed that detailed further cooperation between the two countries in the future, a move that would benefit both countries in the long run.

After negotiations and meetings were done, the Roendavarieil monarch toured the old Aprosian city of Ašín and visited important cultural sites in the area. It was reported that the King was in a good mood during the tour, mostly marvelling at the cultural sites of the old city. According to one of his aides, he was at awe at the different culture he had witnessed and expressed hope that he could return to Aprosia in the future.

On January 26, 2021, after days of touring Aprosia and attending meetings with state representatives, i Florin Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Iralethias departed Aprosia and arrived at the International District where he will be staying to help organize the Western Isles Gala that would see a meeting of much of the region's representatives. Reports released to the public say that the Gala was partly sponsored by the Roendavarieil government.

The overall mood of the Aprosian tour was seen as fairly neutral, which was no surprise to the Roendavarieil delegation. Unlike the countries of Ainslie and Thromsa who have close ties with the Roendavarieil monarch and have decades of cooperation with Roendavar, diplomatic relations with Aprosia, while established, were mostly out of the matter. In fact, Aprosia has been a controversial country to much of the Roendavari people. Several NGOs and advocacy groups have warned about the state of human rights in Aprosia, most notably its treatment of marginalized group and its status as a de facto dictatorship.

The Hall of the People have been the most vocal against the Roendavarieil monarch's visit to Aprosia. Vaicaris Cierael Ivareinil Thasclerin, one of the most vocal members of the Hall of the People, have implored the Roendavarieil monarch to reconsider his visit to Aprosia, quote, "As a nation of compassion and understanding, we must not embrace though whose ideas stand against us. What use is our stance as the country who defends the rights of the people if government itself defiles it?"

Despite criticisms from various sectors of society, the Roendavarieil government has pushed through with establishing ties with Aprosia. Roendavarieil political experts say that this entire shift of present relations between the two couuntries are mostly economic in origin. Sweeping regulations and reform in the Roendavarieil government have resulted in manufacturing companies in Roendavar to outsource production to other countries. Furthermore, a growth in the Roendavarieil economy, fueled by its service sector and robust trade with other countries, have seen Roendavarieil investment directed to other countries. These, as well as the renewal of the Roendavarieil Cooperation and Investment Agency in 2017, have been tapped by Aprosia.

VOROV GRONGEN- As you see this country is stuck in a big crash. A crash of economy, rights, and militarization. If I get elected the downs will go up! The low opportunities will get better. Give might to live a better life! Mr. Tokanskn wants the guns back. That is a right but it is danger. We want to safely "form a more perfect union". Make a plan to vote!

BORIS LACHENKO-In life, there is succession and decession. Right now we are in bad times. But I see hope to success. You, have been stolen of your rights and freedom. Your country has seen it's economy go down. When I am Ministint, you will be habituated of your rights and freedom. Our economy will go up with more jobs. We will join the climate change committee. Vote for your future!

There the candidates addressed the nation. The election will continue to pursue. The votes so far are below:

Tokanskn 678,712
Grongen 612,443
Lachenko 604,590
