PRES. DEMOLISHES BORROWING CAPS
Hallowell aims to borrow billions to finance mooted social programs; analysts warn of "inescapable" debt trap

Image
President Alasdair Hallowell prepares to present new colors to the Republican Guard on Tuesday, May 28, 2019

ELLSBURGH (FBCA)- President Alasdair Hallowell today took executive action to eliminate limits imposed by previous administrations on how much the Treasury Department can borrow, sparking fierce headwinds from Federalists and supporters of fiscal responsibility.

Fulfilling a 2016 campaign promise to "unlock our nation's full spending potential", President Hallowell issued Executive Order 18331, which reverses a previous action taken by the Ellsworth administration in 1981. The executive order declares that "the Secretary of the Treasury shall be empowered to borrow, with the full credit of the Federal Union, whatever sums as he deems appropriate for the functioning of the federal government in that fiscal year." The order does not make reference to Congress' constitutional appropriation powers.

The federal government currently pays $5.7 billion towards interest on the national debt in fiscal year 2019-20. The deficit currently stands at almost $11.6 billion.

Analysts at the Economic and Demographics Analysis Office told the FBCA that, under projected borrowing levels, the deficit could balloon to over $100 billion by 2035, while taxpayers could be saddled with billions more in interest costs- making a mockery of President Hallowell's other 2016 promise to cut income tax rates.

Since taking office in 2017, the Hallowell administration has pushed plans to expand federal welfare programs, with a particular focus on drug pricing. Secretary of Public Assistance Bill Seiders told the FBCA that the majority of borrowed funds unlocked by the executive order could be spent by the Drug Pricing Stabilization Corporation (DPSC), which is currently responsible for providing assistance to poor Almoreans who cannot afford pharmaceutical medicine.

In a March speech to the activist Peoples' Council for Drug Prices, President Hallowell proclaimed the dawning of a new era of "free drugs". "The government will become the nation's medicine cabinet- and we will provide affordable care for all those who need it," the President said.

Federalists in Congress, and constitutional professors, were quick to attack the executive order as fiscally irresponsible and, perhaps, illegal. Rep. Torquil Chatto (F-Warenne Island), who as presiding officer of the Chamber of Representatives has immense influence over budget bills, told reporters that the President's action was "reckless and ill-advised[...] it will poison the inheritance we leave to our children."

Sen. Olivia Gulliver (F-Queensland), a constitutional jurist by training, told the FBCA that the executive order infringes upon Congress' power to appropriate federal money. "The Treasury Secretary isn't a congressional officer. He can't appropriate by himself and then make unilateral decisions as to where that will go, no matter what the President says. If this goes to court, which it will, it'll be thrown out real fast."

If the fallout from the executive order lands in the Supreme Court, it will make an acid political backdrop to the summer of 2019, a time when President Hallowell and Congress were expecting to work together to iron out the implementation of April's infrastructure reforms.

Rijkstag Ratifies Enabling Laws - Hersmann the Dictator?

| Yesterday evening, King Bayerhelm XI passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 76. His son, Frederick Micheal, was quickly crowned King this morning. The new Minister-President, Adolf von Hersmann, immediately activated Emergency Powers and literally two hours ago passed the Enabling Laws, allowing complete control of the Rijkstag by Hersmann, and his title to be renamed from Minister-President to Rijksführer. It aslo gives him complete control of the press and also the military.

| A small demonstration occurred during lunchtime with a group of university students creating a human roadblock on Prachtallee, which was immediately put down by the Rijkswehr under Hersmann's command, resulting in two deaths of university students and 36 arrests. This resulted in a widespread outcry by supporters of the Social Democratic Party, which is no longer an operating political party due to the Enabling Laws, who call for a criminal investigation into Hersmann's conduct as leader of the nation. Many have also called for the new King, Frederick Micheal, to depose the Rijksführer, however the King said this outside his residence, much to the dismay of several hopeful journalists of independent news outlets, including this media company:

"I believe, as to many of my advisors, that the new Rijksführer is the man that will turn this country around, and I also will make it one-hundred-percent clear that the awful accident involving students of the Hortendorf Royal University was nothing to do with His Excellency Adolf von Hersmann. Me and Hersmann have a strong, friendly relationship and I can assure you all that no harm will come to the nation."

| Many former Rijkstag members accuse the Enabling Laws, and thus Hersmann, of manipulating and bullying His Majesty into submission, devolving the monarchy into a puppet of a new, fascist state. However, it must be reminded that Hersmann has also received overwhelming support for the working classes, who believe that he is the man to transform the industrial workplace into an overall better environment and also will further industrialise the south of Austrovik-Germania. Many NAHp members have declared that Austrovik-Germania is the first ever "Saxon Rijk" within the Western Isles, and that only good will come from Hersmann's leadership.

Special Report: Lessons Learned
Aftermath of the Winter of Discontent and the second San Javier War

By: Jeremiah Vogel
@VforVogel

29 May, KAPOLDER - When President Dyson took the stage last week to announce the end of the “Winter of Discontent”, it certainly felt like a huge weight was lifted off the shoulders of the nation. For nearly six long months, the United Republics had been throwing its military around in whatever conflict it could find with reckless abandon. And now, it is seemingly over as the President withdraws Doraltic forces from San Javier, with the expectation that a peace can be made between Menna Shuli and San Javier now that the pent up anger has been released. In the meantime, it has been made clear that though the Winter of Discontent is over, tensions might still remain.

In the Southern Sea, the French Republic of Charbagnia is struggling to rebuild, all the while it is under threat from the Wellsian Empire, which annexed the Magarati-backed Sultanate of Kachee in the midst of the crisis just off their shores.

At home, gasoline and diesel prices remain inordinately high as a result of the oil shock the war between Menna Shuli and San Javier had created, leading the government to declare a mission to end foreign oil dependence altogether by 2030. However, this has done little to alleviate concerns that Dormill and Stiura has become too dependent on other nations to keep the economy safe and stable, let alone the continued concerns of using Noronnican equipment after fighting a quasi-war over Arvan during the Overlord’s Crisis.

In total, the United Republics has suffered much for what seems so little, and has threatened its relationship with Gael and the Isles to appease the faux democracy that is Menna Shuli. This will undoubtedly be a major sticking point for Cedar Dyson’s opponents in the upcoming election, as we have already seen with Myron Aldenberg, who is the frontrunner in the Democratic Party for Presidential Candidate, who had this to say following Dyson’s announcement last week.

It’s about damn time that Dyson accepted the reality of our situation. He’s led us into more wars in just five years than Favre did in fourty, and has led our economy to ruin according to several reports within his own government. He might be right that his little ‘Winter of Discontent’ is over, but we are not done with fighting his reckless policies both at home and abroad. All the while this was happening, the rest of Gael was seeing some of the best peace in years. The PLF has been crushed almost entirely, and our partners in the Gael Four laugh at us as he was playing commander in Arvan, even more so in San Javier. Ceadar Dyson has been nothing more than a disgrace to the name Doraltic and needs to resign or be impeached because the people have had enough of his bullshit.

Although the Chateau has declined an official response, Cedar took to Twitter following these comments, responding,
The people of UR are well aware of the situation I was faced with. The situation in the Isles had been falling apart for months and none of our allies acted with more than a few words in the League. I wish things didn’t go the way they did but the situation both in Noronica and San Javier demanded our swift response. And like I said, now that peace is on the horizon again, I will be focusing my efforts to the new challenges we face at home as we come closer to the elections.

As the first primaries for the States-General is set to begin on 12 June, speculation has begun as to whether or not President Dyson will earn a second term with mounting pressure from the Liberal Unity Coalition, especially the Democrats.

From a military standpoint, the United Republics Army and Navy had commented on the resounding success of their operations in San Javier, the ability of their soldiers, and the effectiveness of their partners during combined operations. The Army further commented on the efforts of the 9th Airborne Regiment, which was deployed to San Javier moments following the Mennan invasion to take down various drug cartels operating in the Javerian Steppe. In the Army statement, they praised the speed at which 9th Airborne completed their objectives, paving the way for the Marines to land and uproot the criminal element in the Steppe. Whether or not the Javerian Army, severely weakened from its fight with Menna Shuli, is capable of filling the void left over is speculative at best.

Ultimately, Dormill and Stiura’s first foray as a “significant international power” has seen some success abroad; resolving the Arvannan Question and flexing its soft and hard power in San Javier has shown the Isles what the United Republics is capable of. However, this flexing of might could prove disastrous at home, as opponents of the government can point to Alexis Moser or Nicholas Favre and reflect on the actions of President Dyson in the lense of history. At this point, the results from the upcoming primaries will set the tone for the remainder of the election season for 2019.

Bomb Kills Ten As Wake Atolla Protests Enter Day Three

KA TEMA - As protests in Wake Atolla enter day three a blast killed ten people and injured thirty-seven, with three soldiers who were guarding the city capitol building among the dead and seven others injured. The blast was created by a backpack thrown from the crowd onto the steps of the building and near the doors which soldiers were guarding. While no group has claimed responsibility this is a clear terrorist action and it is unknown if the perpetrator is among the dead or not.

The city has since entered martial law and the protesters were cleared out with force. Injured protesters were numerous as water canons were used to clear the streets. Along with this the mayor of Ka Tema has called on citizens to remain calm and to be rational in this distressing time. More military forces are being pulled into the city from bases across the island and reporters on the scene have stated that mechanized forces are among those being drawn to the city.

On the mainland cities are taking measures to try and thwart any possible terrorist actions being taken on Svalbardian soil. Svalbardian Military Intelligence is working hard to counter any threats as stated by a spokesperson. Both Consuls have extended sympathies to the soldiers injured and the families of the fallen soldiers. Along with that they have pledged to find those responsible for these actions.

Rigel-1 Probe Lands on Moon

Image
An image of the Mare Vaporum on the lunar surface taken by the landing element

After being launched on the 14th of this month on a Constelación II Reusable Heavy-Lift Launch Vehicle, the Rigel-1 Lunar Probe has successfully landed on the lunar surface in the Mare Vaporum region. Following over a week of photographing the moon from orbit, the probe was de-orbited and the lander portion gently touched down in the Mar Vaporum (Sea of Vapors) on May 29th, 2019. Once landed, it began taking pictures of its surroundings and conducting basic spectrographic tests of the surface material immediately beneath, the results of which have yet to be released by CALA scientists. The probe was able to land within 1 meter of its target landing point, ensuring that the touch-down took place on flat and level ground.

Director of CALA Elisabet Porras spoke at a press conference earlier today and was quick to label the landing, Corindia's first attempt at landing a craft on an extraterrestrial body, as "not just a technological milestone for CALA, but a cultural event that should make all of us here today proud to be Corindi. This will not be our last trip to the moon!", further elaborating that CALA intends to land a rover on the moon within six years.

Former Prime Minister Emin Vedat Confirms Report Validity- Calls Out TSN for Inaccuracy
5-29-19

Former Prime Minister and Leader of the Islamic Socialist Party said today that this network's earlier report was accurate in an unprecedented statement delivered by Islamic Socialist Party MP Verdya Nadi on the parliament floor.

"On behalf of my party and its elected leader," Nadi said in the statement, "We denounce the blatant censorship currently being performed by Thuzbek Sate News against its affiliate station in Baslov. The purported dismissal of journalist Baziri Azud stands in defiance of the basic rights of the worker that the Revolution fought to attain. Furthermore, this party and Emin Vedat in particular confirm and support the Baslovian Publishing House's statement. The Reports are not only accurate, but only tell a small fragment of the truth. The Prime Minister and the party heads as well as the FWC chairman did, in fact, choose to abandon the workers when they needed the System the most."

Before he could finish the statement, Vanguard chairman Attila Lutfi forced MP Verdya Nadi to relinquish the floor and mandated a week's mute on the MP, justifying his ruling with a quick statement.

"As Representative Nadi has stated blatant falsehoods without verifiable evidence, he has poisoned the debate and the statement, as well as the ISP's [Islamic Socialist Party's] good name in this chamber."

The move, while unprecedented, is within the power of the Vanguard chairman, Lutfi asserted later. He cited a 1957 Act of Parliament which originally established the position and enumerated its powers. However, the claim is dubious according to Conservative MP Arsho Vade, who spoke with BPH in an interview after the session.

"The 1957 law which he cited was amended in 1968 and that amendment more clearly defined the Vanguard Chairman's ability to silence a Vanguard MP once the Chairman had given that MP the floor," Vade said. "He cannot simply silence the MP, especially based on the idea that the MP is telling what may be a falsehood. In fact, under the 1973 "Rules on the Validity of Speech in Parliament," the Chairman must actually prove that the statement is false and told maliciously before punishment can be dolled out."

Lutfi has already issued a summons to Emin Vedat, who, as the supposed author of the statement, may be liable if the statement is found by a panel of Vanguard Party members to be malicious in nature. "Malicious falsehoods," in Thuzbek parliamentary procedure, is any veritably false statement made at the expense to the current administration. The definition finds its origins in the Revolutionary dacade, during which representatives of the new parliament would often discuss unproven rumors of massacres ordered by Emirhan himself.

BPH did reach out to Former Prime Minister Emin Vedat, but did not get an answer.

We will be keeping this story updated as it develops.

STARWATCH: NOW WATCHING GALAXIES!

By James T. Kirk, 30 May 2019

BETELGEUSE - Scantarbian Space Agency recently releases an image of interacting galaxies NGC 4302 and NGC 4298. Scantarbian astronomers are intrigued by the galaxies’ apparent lack of any significant gravitational interaction; only a faint bridge of neutral hydrogen gas — not visible in this image — appears to stretch between them. The long tidal tails and deformations in their structure that are typical of galaxies lying so close to each other are missing completely.

Scantarbian astronomers also have found very faint tails of gas streaming from the two galaxies, pointing in roughly the same direction — away from the center of the Virgo Cluster. They have proposed that the galactic double is a recent arrival to the cluster and is currently falling in towards the cluster center and the galaxy Messier 87 lurking there — one of the most massive galaxies known. On their travels, the two galaxies are encountering hot gas — the intracluster medium — that acts like a strong wind, stripping layers of gas and dust from the galaxies to form the streaming tails.

Image
Interacting galaxies NGC 4302 and NGC 4298

Entering its 9th year of operation, STARWATCH Space Telescope still provides Scantarbian astronomers with loads of data and new discoveries, during 2018 alone, over two thousand scientific papers were published discussing the findings from the STARWATCH Space Telescope. As for us non-scientists, STARWATCH Space Telescope provides us jaw-dropping images from the uncharted vastness of space.

Your Weather: Arnton - 28C/18C

DOMESTIC: Kenzai calls election, signals resignation
Today marked an unexpected early morning press conference from the Prime Minister, to which the media was only notified of it late last night. Kenzai this morning announced that an election will be held on the first weekend of July (6th and 7th).

“As you probably know by now, I have given advice to the Judicial-General for an election to be held on the first Saturday of July, the sixth to be exact. He has accepted and put into motion my advice. The Judicial-General also requested me to announce boundary changes for many electoral divisions in Ainslie. Most notably, there will be two new electoral divisons in Ainslie - Kareenda which will be in the southwestern suburbs of Arnton, and Ascara which will incorporate the northern portions of the Wesland Ranges and Gresswell Island.”

This will be the first time Gresswell Island has been allowed to directly vote for a member of the Parlai. In addition to that, the changes in Arnton will result in wider boundary changes across Arnton with polling data for the new electorates and these redistributed ones being withheld from media

Another surprise was that he announced his resignation from the post of Prime Minister in his speech today.

“It is with gratefulness today that I announce my intention to resign as Prime Minister and as the Member for Harrow. It has been an incredible four years for me personally and for my party, continuing the progressive agenda that has marked our leadership now for a decade and a half. Now it is time for me to be with my family and be able to do the school runs, have willingly late nights and go on multi-day hikes without you homing devices [media reporters] following me over every rock and branch.

I encourage those from within the party and those who share our values to continue supporting the party and what makes it so great. Although I was elevated from the place of Electoral Governor to Prime Minister and I will admit it has been challenging, I have not regretted it in the slightest and I am an example that even if you haven’t been in the Parlai for a decade you can rise to a place of leading this country.”

With Kenzai stepping down, a battle for who will become ACEGAD’s preferred PM candidate begins. This selection, which occurs through secret ballot of current representatives, will occur over the next 10 days as per the standard procedure.

Here are the likely potential candidates:
  • Emma Mansell - Currently the Electoral Governor of Dallama, Mansell is from the same subgroup of the Ahnslen Centrists as Andrew Kenzai. Likely considered as the safe option to go to the most unusual election since Condor’s in the 80s, Mansell already has strong connections to the federal ACEGAD party yet is disconnected enough to not have many political enemies.
  • Thomas Wilton - Wilton has been Kenzai’s deputy and served a significant role under Renten’s administration, he is the member for Gosren. He is considered to be a relatively unexpected option as he has stated that he has no intention of running for Prime Minister before. Wilton is from the conservative subgroup of the ACEGAD party yet also has the broad support of the party, much like Mansell.
  • Eleane Gifford - An incredibly popular figure in Norlands, Gifford is one of the few ACEGAD members in the electorate who has consistently won their seat by over a 5% margin. She currently serves as the Foreign Minister and represents the electoral division of Kareena. She does not have any particular ideological allegiance to any of the subgroups yet remains popular with both the conservatives and the moderates.

ACEGAD will reveal who they have chosen to lead them to the election by the end of next week, party president Noah Redecki revealed. Keep up to date by following this website or via our TWItter.

DOMESTIC: Seranah devastated as fire continues north
Emergency Warnings EVACUATION NOTICE to all residents in the towns of Carenda, Sinale and Trataren. EMERGENCY WARNING for Carenda, Sinale, Trataren and Canden Downs. WATCH AND ACT for all residents situated between Canden Road and the town of Ashtown.

Prevailing southerly winds, whilst marginally lowering temperatures, have caused the fire to move closer towards the townships which make up much of Wesland's rural southwest.

Tragically, this fire has already taken its first victim - the town of Seranah. Heroic efforts and coordination between firefighters and other arms of the emergency services allowed for all of the 392 residents of the town to have the opportunity to evacuate with most of them doing so. This was done before the winds picked up during the night. Much of the town is now destroyed by fire with some buildings and homes still standing. Fortunately, there has been no loss of life and there have been no confirmed major injuries from those who have chosen to defend their homes.

Governor Hailes was quick to declare a state of emergency in the areas around Seranah, allowing residents and emergency services to access funds to recover from or to prepare for the impacts of what is non being known as the Seranah. Earlier this morning, the winds changed from south to southwest, meaning that the fire is travelling in the general direction of Arnton.

Lauren Sennel, the Commissioner of the Wesland RFS, this morning provided an update about the Seranah fire during a press conference with the Governor.

"We have an active and life threatening out of control bushfire which is spreading rapidly as a result of strong winds and relatively dry vegetation. There is an active evacuation notice for residents in the towns of Carenda, Sinale and Trataren who are at extremely high risk of being impacted by this bushfire within the next 18 hours if they do not leave now. Only stay if your house is adequately prepared for a severe bushfire. If you are unsure, you should leave.

As an extension to this, emergency warnings have gone out to all residents in Canden Downs who are likely to be the next ones in line to be impacted by this bushfire if it is not contained within the aforementioned timeframe. Keep close to communication channels - such as the TWI Weather Office, Government Radio or TV stations.

An extremely severe tragedy has been somewhat averted in Seranah. As many of you already know, this fire has had significant impacts to the infrastructure and livelihoods of those in Seranah. There has been no loss of life and no confirmed fire-related injuries and we commend our fast acting emergency services and the diligent residents of Seranah for their efforts in making sure that everyone was safe.

We have regained contact with those who have defended their properties in Seranah. Many people had to flee their homes towards the community centre, which was successfully defended.

We do not know, outside of this information, what has happened or happening in Seranah as the fire front has changed direction again which is making it very difficult for us to re-establish contact. This has also resulted in much of the major roads heading southwest being closed. On that note, if you are south of Carenda. Leave immediately. It is currently safe to leave via roads to the east, north and west but conditions can change at any time. Ashtown Road is open, Senarin Way is open, as is the Overlander's Road. Evacuate immediately via these roads as it is currently safe to do so.

Follow all instructions from emergency services and please look out for one another. I thank and applaud the people who have been doing this already and I extend my gratitude to community organisations and businesses who have been going above and beyond during this disaster.

Our emergency services are doing all they can but it is vital they have the cooperation of residents. Residents impacted or at risk of being impacted should keep up to date with the fire by tuning into government radio, the TWI Weather office, television or at our website wrfs.gov.an and various social media profiles. The next press conference update will happen tonight at 8:30pm. Thank you."

As for how the fire begun, we have not received any information on this. Unconfirmed reports suggest that a rapid change in weather conditions during hazard reduction burnings have caused this, but it is important that qualified investigators determine the cause before it is set in stone.

Up-to-date news and warnings can be found under the weather tab of our news website.

Ambush on Modernist Compound a Success

After almost a month of tension, the National Guard has carried out the first strike against the Modernist. On May 21st at 12:06 pm, 5 out of the 12 Husky TSV trucks from the Brigade surrounded a Modernist compound. Afterwards, a Mirage came and dropped an FAB (fuel-air bomb) over the compound. With the Modernists stunned and in a frenzy, the National Guard ran in and wiped them out.
Casualties on our side: 20
Enemy Casualties: 46

The ambush was succesful, however we did lose some of our troops. We are so grateful that our military is risking their lives for our peace.

Image
Our brave troops

One of our editors is in the National Reserves this is what she added.
The village is littered with bodies, wounded fighters and shells. Red, black and blue are the new colors of what was once a reserved, farming village, which has now become the stage of a tragic civil war.
The air which would normally carry the sound of working people and large tools is now heavy with the screams of dying fighters and the scent of their blood, there's no coming back from this.
An army and a rebellion fight each other , and it’s clear who will win. The wounded of one side are abundant and lay in heaps around the village and the faces of the fighters are hopeful with victory in mind and hope in their hearts, they carry out their orders in a tough fight.
With a strong possibility of pain or death the other side fights with fear flowing through their veins. Some have succumbed to fatigue and are giving in to whatever fate this battle has in store for them, while others just wish all this was over.
The toll on both nature and humanity is tremendous. It'll likely take ages before this village will have recovered. It's clear broken siege engines, weaponry and explosion holes have taken the place of gardens, roads and schools.

Situation In Wake Atolla Worsens With Deliberate Attack On Military Forces

KA TEMA - With protests entering day five a terrible tragedy has occurred. A military convoy moving from a base in the north of the island to the south was hit by an IED buried along the road in apparent anticipation. The attack killed four military personnel. The deceased names have been released as Sergeant Asbjørn Tollefsrud, Specialist Isak Hoium, PFC Umar Varayev, and PFC Iwana Koi; SNN wishes the best for their families in these sad times.

The attack happened on Wake Atolla's Coastal Highway West. The road has been closed due to martial law with transportation across the island being heavily restricted. This fact has led the military to announce that this was a deliberate attack on the military. In the time between the announcement that this was a deliberate attack and now, the military with permission from the Consuls has declared Wake Atolla a conflict zone. The island hasn't been declared that since 2016. All Svalbardian citizens on the island are advised to return to North Wake or the mainland and its islands. The military will announce its new restrictions on the island by Sunday, until then we hope that all have a safe return.

The Consuls also weighed in on the situation stating that they heavily condemn this attack and that there will be retribution for it. They also hope that all Svalbardians remain safe and that they wish their best for the families of the deceased.

Sanctions Declared Against Wake Sud

ALTA - Consul Bellum Zeltargo has announced that there will be heavy sanctions against Wake Sud. These sanctions come after the recent elections and the belief that Wake Sud actors are flaming tensions among the First Wave Communities throughout the Zazchey Archipelago. These sanctions are placing a full stop on any business between Polar Svalbard and Wake Sud. Along with that any accounts in Polar Svalbard that are held by Wake Sud nationals are frozen. This will likely be very effective as many people from Wake Sud come to Polar Svalbard, especially Wake Atolla and North Wake for work so they can support their families at home. Mr. Zeltargo also asked Svalbardian allies and friends to respect the sanction.

After the sanctions were declared this morning many First Wave Communities around Polar Svalbard have announced that they will not follow what the Svalbardian government says and that the government is unfairly suppressing the First Wave Peoples.

SNN will keep you updated as more develops.

STATE PRESIDENT WATSON VISITS THUZBEKISTAN, RETURNS WITH NEW TREATY

TURBAY, ASHLUV- Comrade State President Paul Watson returned today from Ashluv, the capital of the People's Republic of Thuzbekistan, concluding a triumphal and whirlwind visit to our trusted Socialist ally. Mirroring the visit of Thuzbek Comrade Prime Minister Alaattin Cihangir to Brulafi earlier this year, Comrade Watson was ushered on a brief yet action-packed tour of the nation beginning on this Tuesday and concluding with his departure from Ashluv International Airport on Friday. The trip began with Comrades Cihangir and Watson being welcomed by parade at the airport in the Thuzbek capital city before being taken to State Munitions Factory #43, which recently broke three consecutive records for breaking production quotas! The next day, the esteemed pair travelled to the Prime Minister's residence for the first round of talks, wherein the groundwork for a revolutionary new agreement were laid. Over the next few days, Comrades Cihangir and Watson constructed what is known as the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation, which has such goals as
-The mutual reduction of tarriffs and trade restrictions imposed after the dissolution of the UCCR,
-The institution of limited mutual defense and military assistance protocols, and
-The creation of potential travel restrictions being lifted between the two nations.
This agreement will be the first major bilateral deal between the two nations since the untimely demise of the United Communist Central Republics in 1994. Comrade Watson, upon his return to Turbay airport, spoke at length to a local Pioneer Youth league's newspaper staff about the importance of this new era in Thuzbek-Brulafi relations. "It is key," he said, "to understand that the world is a multifaceted place, one with enemies and friends to be found all over. It is then also key to find yourself an anchor to attach yourself, someone who can hold our nation above water—and whom we can hold up when they are floundering themselves—even when the whole rest of the world is pushing us or them under. For us, that rock and anchor is Thuzbekistan. For the People of Brulafi, we should feel honored that we have none but the best by our side."

BREAKING: NUCLEAR ACCIDENT IN WAIQU
By: Anne C. Abij, 2 June 2019

WAKITOMBA - An explosion in the Ipxí Nuclear Power Station, in Waiqu, occured this morning, the cooling system failed and entered a shutdown causing overheat in Reactor A, and subsequently a hydrogen explosion in the roof of Reactor A. Itaqii Kolamolaen, Chief of the Ipxí Town Fire Service told PNN that "the fire surrounding the Reactor is well under control, but I already requested to the Federal Government the help of the Special Fire Brigade, which was immediately granted by Minister Cécile Sartre". Seven workers and two firefighters were transported to the Elizabeth II Hospital in Pacifica after "high suspicion of acute radiation syndrome", other 3 workers were transported to Ípxi River Medical Centre and one firefighter was transported to Wakitomba Central Hospital for extensive fire burns in the limbs. The First Minister of Waiqu, Cyprien Taqbelí refused to comment on the situation at this time.

The power plant is managed and owned by Élect du Sur et de La Proxí, known by successive warnings of mismanagement by the governments of both Waiqu, Inn, Fôret Noir and South Lorraine, where it operates as the main power retailer. Two years ago, the Government of South Lorraine issued an order for the closure of the Nuclear Power Plant of Mosellier, after successive failures in cooling systems. Recently, the Supreme Administrative Court of the Union ordered Élect du Sur et de la Proxí to perform urgent maintenance on its facilities in Waiqu, including the Ipxí Nuclear Power Station, after loosing a judicial battle against the Government of the Rezíxxiqa Indigenous Tribe.

DOMESTIC: UFA announce name change, field candidate
Arborai, Ainslie

In somewhat of an anomaly in Ahnslen politics, the United for Ainslie Party has held its election campaign launch today. In what is being considered as a complete rebrand, a new candidate, a new party leader, a new name and new colours for the party were unveiled this morning in Arborai. Levi Drennan, a well known and experienced Christian Democrat senator, has won the candidate ballot and will lead the party to the election. In addition to this, UFA has officially changed their name to the Ahnslens United Party with the abbreviation of Ahnited. With a purple and white colour scheme, the party seeks to distance itself from its shaky origins of political power moves occurring since the last election.

Tyson Runere has confirmed that he did not run in the ballot and will no longer serve in the Parlai, moving into the position of Ahnited President.

In the campaign launch this morning, he was the first major person to speak.

“Good morning - with a 66% majority, it has become clear that the ACEGAD Party is popular in this country. That is not to their merit, but rather to the failed left’s demerit. Ahnited believes that Ahnslens are naturally leftist, yet have not been given the opportunity to express their true beliefs and ensure they have a government who believes in them and deploys their wishes.

That is why I did what no Ahnslen has done before, did maneuvering we’ve never seen before.”

Drennan’s also spoke, albeit for a short amount of time stating that policies will be unveiled over the next fortnight.

“Ahnited understands the need to protect our people - socially, culturally and in the day to day. We cannot have an ideal future if the foundations on which we build it on - the present - is weak.”

Ahnited is shaping up to be the opposing party coming into this election, with the APC in ruins and the LLST nor the Indenats able to form government. In the coming days, Ahnslens will learn more about what distinguishes ACEGAD and Ahnited and we will wait for that.

DOMESTIC: Fire contained at Ashtown
Arborai, Ainslie

Emergency Warnings: EMERGENCY WARNING to all residents in the towns of Carenda, Sinale and Trataren.
WATCH AND ACT for all residents currently residing between Ashtown Road, Trataren and Calindin Way, Seranah
.

The immediate threat of the Seranah fire has appeared to have died down, as firefighters successfully contain the vicious fire which has decimated the town of Seranah and caused damage to humans and to property in the towns between Seranah and Ashtown. There have been no confirmed deaths so far as a result of the fire, yet the local agricultural industry is reeling after what has been a tough winter and what is forecasted to be a relatively dry summer.

As the fire continues to rage through the trees and scrub around the containment lines, the residents of Seranah were allowed back to assess the damage to their properties and livelihoods. We also were able to obtain the stories of those who stayed and defended the community centre from the near-inferno conditions.
According to the information our reporter received, this is a rough timeline what occurred:

6:23pm - The fire reached Seranah, with local farmers fleeing their homes south of the town in order to find shelter at the community centre. This is when it is believed preparations to defend were underway, with the local council having already followed bushfire damage mitigation regulations.

6:31pm - Fire began to impact properties in the southern portions of the urban centre of Seranah, with people fleeing on foot and by bicycle towards the community centre.

6:36pm - Farmers and local residents actively defend the community centre using leftover water from rainwater tanks and by accessing a fire hydrant - one of the defenders was a recently retired WRFS volunteer.

6:44 - Main firefront passed through Seranah

However, many of these defenders did not experience the same luck they had at the community centre. Heading south into Seranah, one of our reporters noted the "immense and widespread damage" to farmhouses and barns.

As for those who had already evacuated from Seranah in days prior, they returned to a town that is hardly recognisable. Many of the buildings in ashes, with only the community centre left relatively unscathed. The Wesland Government has pledged to support the residents of Seranah in order for the town to be rebuilt.

In addition to this, the Ahnslen Corruption, Ethics and Integrity Commission (an overarching body that can compel government agencies to investigate, and if necessary, prosecute cases) warned insurance companies that they should not attempt to shortchange these residents stating that “if the law is not on your side as you conduct your business in coming days, we will spare no effort in order to get retribution for these vulnerable residents. Be very mindful of the law as you perform your duties in processing claims and providing compensation where required.“ This harsh rhetoric has concerned some locals who fear that the added pressure of compliance may give insurance companies an excuse to delay getting the urgently needed funds to claimants.

Governor Hailes has refused to provide a comment in relation to ACEIA’s conduct under the grounds of not intervening in matters of federal legal compliance. However, the Governor has expanded the state of emergency which widens the geographical scope where the additional resources heading into the area can be distributed to.

No military personnel have been deployed outside of a firefighting role. Besides ACEIA’s comments, recovery and risk management have largely been a matter for Wesland to deal with. Arendai has reached out to PM Kenzai’s office in relation to what has largely been an absence of federal authorities responding to this disaster. The statement which replied to this revealed that Wesland has not yet requested assistance but if and when they do, the federal level stands ready to fulfill needs.

As the fire slowly burns through all its fuel over the coming days, it will fade away. Despite this, the recovery has only just begun. Keep your thoughts with the residents of Serenah and surrounding areas as they endeavour to rebuild what has been tragically lost.

Hang of Khumbuwan: Central Canal immigration ruining my hangate

Image
Thebe Kulung Hang wants immigrants out of his hangate by any means

DHARAN

Thebe Kulung Hang of Khubuwan said in a media conference that immigrants from Central Canal were bringing his beloved hangate to ruins as his supporters cheered. When our reporters from the Herald and the Beet went to interview him, Thebe Kulung Hang was more than happy to provide more details on this crisis:

Herald Reporter: Mr Hang, you proclaimed in your recent media conference that Khumbuwan was under threat of Central Canal immigration. Can you clarify that for us?

Thebe Kulung Hang: Certainly, my dear. Our so-called federation is a joke that every other country laughs at. We are the nerdy kid on the classroom. We advocate things like peace, vegetarianism and diversity; three things that are ruing what used to be once one of the Greatest Empires of the Isles. And by the way, I may not look like it, but I do play that grand strategy game in my free time. I am totally not being paid by Chitrakar Studios to advertise them here. It's a lot of stress relief declaring independence those bear-sons (whore-sons) of Arun Valley and kicking their backsi -

Herald Reporter: Mr Hang, my question was about Central Canal immigration. So if you could please -

Thebe Kulung Hang: Hold on, I am getting there. People think the Yak Maruwa hornets are the biggest issue right now. They are absolutely wrong. How many folks have the hornets killed? Just over a hundred. And now those snobs of Liba Hang think they can fool us by saying that this was all caused by global warming and climate change.

Herald Reporter: Mr Hang...

Thebe Kulung Hang: They do this all the time. And now, they are saying that I am delusional. That the Central Canal immigration invasion does not exist!

Herald Reporter: Finally we are going somewhere...Mr Hang, let's say this Central Canal immigration invasion has happened. Why is this bad for Athara Magarat?

Thebe Kulung Hang: It is not bad for the federation; it is just bad for us Khumbuwanis. They screen these immigrants, take the good ones and send the bad ones over to us. Right since 15th Century, those rascals in Arun Valley and Liba Hang have always collaborated with foreigners to destroy Khumbuwan and greater Magarat. You want proof? The Aruneli were the ones to enforce Peace of Vendriothos and form alliance with Noronnicans. These two were the ones who shot down the idea of Greater Magarati Solution in 19th Century. These bear-sons -

Herald Reporter: I am sorry I have to cut you, Mr Hang. But why is the Central Canal immigration bad for Khumbuwan?

Thebe Kulung Hang: Ever since the Central Canal immigration invasion started, crime rates in Khumbuwan have skyrocketed. We have foreign vixens and bears taking away young and innocent Khumbuwani boys. We have these foreign men and their mafias and whatnot crime families. And look at this gun right here. Where else in northern Magarat do you even find guns? These immigrants bring not just their gangster culture or whoring businesses but their horrible gun culture as well. Me and my Khumbuwanis are scared that our hangate will turn into one of those nations where mass shootings take place every other week. And the sad thing? The crooks in Liba Hang and Arun Valley do not recognize this problem! They say that no Central Canal immigration is taking place -

Herald Reporter: But how can this immigration invasion happen, Mr Hang? I mean, who even lives there to be able to immigrate into your hangate?

Thebe Kulung Hang: It's a major hub for human traffickers. They will tell poor parents in poor countries -

Herald Reporter: I am not sure there are any poor countries in the Isles -

Thebe Kulung Hang: Let me speak, dear. They tell these children that they will have a great life ahead in Magarat. They say that even to adult men and women. However, they cannot come into Magarat that easily. The southern border with San Montagna has been heavily guarded and closed since 1995. The ID strait is heavily patrolled by Magarati and Vancouvian ships. Which is why, these human traffickers unload these immigrants in Central Canal territory, which is huge and you can escape the small number of authorities easily. And who has the longest border with Central Canal territory among the four northern hangates? That's right, Khumbuwan (it is not...)! Most of these immigrants come here while only a few go over to Arun Valley to Liba Hang.

Herald Reporter: So what is the solution, Mr Hang? To this Central Canal crisis?

Thebe Kulung Hang: I do not care what those snobby bear-sons in Liba Hang and Arun Valley do. I will not let my precious Khumbuwan fall. Which is why, we are going to erect a wall! Look at how well-guarded our southern border with San Montagna is! The same needs to be applied here. And lastly, we will use the guns brought by these immigrants on them if we have to. That is all.

Sanctions Against Wake Sud Already Effective

KARANOA - Already the sanctions imposed on Wake Sud Friday are having an effect. The sanctions were imposed due to the likely involvement of the Wake Sud government in inflaming tensions in Wake Atolla. Problems on the island are spreading and it is unknown what is going to happen. In the past tensions have flared up and died down, but the government seems to believe that the new government in Wake Sud will be making the problem worse.

The impact can be seen in a number of places. Many citizens are crowding the streets demanding that the government help them as their family members are barred from coming home from where they may be in North Wake, Wake Atolla and Polar Svalbard; and the bank accounts supporting them have been closed off from them. Suddenly they have lost access to the funds that provide support for them as many on the island are unemployed due to limited prospects. Along with that many are shouting that the government has to take action against Polar Svalbard.

When looking at the docks many exports are sitting there that were meant to go out on ships to Polar Svalbard today. Those shipments have to find new places to go and that will be costly in time and money. While the sanction does not affect all shipments, Wake Sud mostly conducts commerce within the area close to it. The biggest problem will come soon as Wake Sud obtains most of its foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals from Polar Svalbard. Since the distances are so small and the fact that much of the commerce was still between the islands trade between the former and possibly still enemies is common, but now that "Its just business" attitude is coming back at Wake Sud.

Along with that it seems as though a government plane left to the International District to a destination that can be only guessed as the League.

Military Units In Wake Atolla Begin Targeting Possible Insurgents

Ka Tema - Today saw three raids in the capital city and countless other places as military units on the island begin taking suspected insurgents into custody.

It is unknown whether or not these are actual insurgents or how the military is picking their targets although in the capital the raids went off with no complications. How this will affect the situation is uknown but protests continue across the island. In the capital there was a large protest in the square which had military units containing it. This is in direct conflict with the martial law being imposed but it seems that the military is trying not to inflame anything more than it has to as it let the protests go on so long as nothing happened. This may be due to possible insurgents in the crowd and trying not to turn public opinion more against them.

The military has also decided to implement a no fly zone and drones have been spotted around the island flying. It is unknown if these drones carry munitions or if they are just in the air for reconnaissance.

If you are still on the island and are a natural Svalbardian citizen, the government has issued a memo to go to any military base or government building and bring your papers with you to arrange safe passage off the island until these troubles calm down. Stay safe.

Magarati Students Study 25 Hours a Day

Image
Damn, how do they manage that? Easy.

NEW LIBANG

There are many things going wrong in the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates. As we all know, sensible Magarati politicians are now an endangered species unable to face competition from the Magarati delegates to League, the macho Hang of Khumbuwan who believes in a Central Canal immigration conspiracy and Jrm Hangma herself. Let us not even get started on the Hornet Wars. The less said the better. Now Magarati students are saying that perhaps they have too much study hours as compared to students in other nations. We all know that is a bleeping BS since Magarati students only have 12 hours of classes and many of them study for just 25 hours a day.

These midgets are lucky that they do not have to study and work at the same time like we did. Wait, many of them actually work and study? Yeah, yeah. Anyone can do that. We are Athara Magaratis not B-thara Magaratis and every student in this country needs to remember that. Our reporters asked why they have to study for 25 hours a day and here is what they had to say -

Student A: We need to prepare ourselves since calculators are not allowed in exams. That and we have to take extra classes for all the subjects.

Student A+: I am in school for 12 hours and 4 hours of part-time job. So I have to make up the rest of my time by studying by myself.

Student A*: I do not want to be relegated to just A.

Image
No seriously, we don't use calculators in Athara Magarati schools.

If you have been following Magarati news, then you will have known that two months ago, a bunch of radical Magarati educators tried to appeal for calculators to be allowed in exams for only Grades 8 to 10. Needless to say, nothing came out of that. And it was for the best as we all love the status quo at the moment.

NICETAS AKYLAS EMBARKS ON STATE VISITS

By Alfred Alabaster, 03 June 2019

ARCTURUS - Leader of Scantarbia, Nicetas Akylas, left today on his presidential Boeing 787 embarking on a journey visiting states all over the Western Isles. "I'm expecting to get to know a bunch of new people, learn their cultures, perhaps create some deal and spread friendship along the way while also fostering bilateral cooperation." said the 30-year-old Nicetas Akylas who is also a Ph.D. in Astrophysics when asked about what he looks forward to on his journey. Accompanying his journey is the nation's ministers and support crews that travel with a separate aircraft.

"Without journeys like this, we would be left blind, unknown to the people outside our islands. A journey like this is also important to foster relationship among nations, following the spirit of goodwill that our nation has. When we have a relationship, then we could start discussing matters like immigration, trade, cooperation, and many more. The benefits of having an international relation highly outweigh the negative implications." said the Head of Scantarbia's Minister of Foreign Relation, Albert Pavlovich, when interviewed by SDH while waiting for departure.

"What do you looking forward to on this travel?" asks SDH

"We're currently looking forward to creating cooperation between our aerospace industries with Corindia, in order to fulfill our longtime goal to venture the stars and beyond. There's also interest in aiding Thromsa with their nuclear accident, we hope it is not severe and could be quickly solved and managed. Then, there are other nations that are as important but due to the time restriction I have, I cannot mention them one by one." replies Albert

"What are your concerns on this travel?"

"So far the government of Thromsa has not released a full report on their accident, we still don't know if it's more than some burning roof or the reactor is totally blown apart and is spewing radiation into the air, but fortunately, due to the nature of the winds on this region, we could expect the fallout, if there is any, would be pushed northward, away from our serene islands. Now if you excuse me, they're calling for me," said Albert

"Thank you for your time, Albert", said SDH, closing the interview.

The flight departed from Arcturus International Airport on Sunday afternoon. It is expected that the journey will last for, at maximum, four weeks.

THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING!

This morning at 5:10am King Leon II passed away in his sleep leaving the Emerald Throne to his son, Leon III. His deteriorating health was a large worry to his subjects, but doctors assure us that it was old age that got to him. A funeral will be held tomorrow

Leon at 12:00pm was crowned King Leon Wolf III protected of the realm and chosen by the Goddess. His siblings, Elizabeth Duchess of Abbey and Jacob Duke of Wix both congratulated the oldest brother on becoming king. King Leon III ordered that a feast be prepared tonight in his father's memory, only certain Nobels could buy seats, others present are family and friends to the new king.
Although we mourn the loss of King Leon II we celebrate our new king in hopes that Leon III will lead Havalland to glory.
LONG LIVE KING LEON WOLF III.

Keolamauloa Kailikea Announces Himself As Leader Of The First Wave Retaliation Group (FWRG)

KA TEMA - This morning a radio station in the southern part of Wake Atolla was hijacked by a group calling themselves as the FWRG, before they left they hooked up a message on repeat. The message has the voice of a man who called himself Keolamauloa Kailikea. He stated that he was the leader of the FWRG and that they were going to remove Svalbardian troops from the island by force. He stated that he is continuing the war that has been fought for thousands of years. He encouraged other people descended from the first wave peoples to also rise up against their second wave oppressors. The message was one filled with hate and is supposed to be a rallying cry. It is unknown how this will affect the situation down in Wake Atolla but the government has put this man on the top spot of Polar Svalbard's most wanted list. Anyone with information on him will be able to claim a reward for reliable information on who he is, what he looks like, or his whereabouts.

This is the latest escalation in what is looking to be a worse conflict than previous ones. If it continues like this the military will have to start using force to bring order back to the island.

Up until now, the Republic had been ruled by an ad-hoc coalition of the leaders of the recent revolution against the German-dominated Federation as it sought to establish itself. Although it has many things to do, the leaders of the Republic, including interim President Matthieu Porcher, are confident that this first session will set the stage for the future of the young nation.

Before the Parliament assembles, the President has called for the first general election in the nation, after having come to an agreement with the United Republics on importing the necessary voting equipment and staff to the island in the past month. President Procher has also said in a recent address that he intends to appear before the League of the Western Isles to appeal for membership and to request a peacekeeping force be sent to protect polling stations while a team of League investigators monitor the election.

But first, some background on what the Parliament is to understand how the upcoming election will shape it:

According to the French Charbagnian Constitution, Parliament is divided into two chambers, the lower Forum and the upper Senate. Both chambers are elected from open proportional lists, however, the Forum uses electoral districts to apportion its members while the Senate is elected nationally. Additionally, the Senate is granted the power of purse, giving it a significant amount of power in the Parliament as a whole.

At the moment, the Republic as a government is extremely bare-bones, set up to ensure the security of the nation as a Parliament is established. The current leadership is temporary, though current predictions on the election shows that they will remain in power and build the first proper government of the nation, alongside building the rest of the Constitution with laws established by Parliament during their upcoming three-month long session.

In terms of the political parties of the Republic, there are currently only 5 established overall. They are:

Liberté pour les Gens (Freedom for the People): The political movement that was the catalyst for the Revolution against the Federation, LG is a Republican-orientated party that seeks to build an egalitarian, francophone society. On an economic level, they support gradual privatization of the economy to encourage growth while keeping state control on key industries.

Parti Démocrate Socialiste Populaire (People’s Socialist Democratic Party): The PDSP was present during the Revolution, providing a significant military force to the fight for French liberation in Charbagnia. As a socialist party, they intend to maintain the significant amount of state control in the economy, while additionally collaborating closely with the former UCCR in developing the nation.

Charbagnie Français pour la réconciliation (French Charbagnia for Reconciliation): Formed mostly by the German population of French Charbagnia, Reconciliation is a single-issue party that aims to reunite the Charbagnian Federation and restore territorial integrity.

Parti Fédéraliste (Federalist Party): The Federalist Party is a libertarian party that aligns itself with the Centrists International whose goal is to establish a federal government in French Charbagnia, and to devolve power to the new federal subjects. They additionally want to reunite Charbagnia under a “new and fair Federation”.

Deutsche Nationalpartei (German National Party): A nationalist party based in the south, their specific goal is to advocate for the rights of Germans living in French Charbagnia since the Revolution.

At present, the Forum has 155 seats to fill while the Senate has 80 seats to fill. The Special Electoral Commission has agreed with the parties to utilize party lists for both elections to streamline the voting process, the plan for the following elections is to establish an open list in parallel with a party list, similar to the Doraltic model where people can vote for individual members of a party or for the party as a whole.

Alongside the election for Parliament, the election for the first President of the Republic is also scheduled for the upcoming election. The President is the chief executive of the nation, in control of all the aspects therein. In addition, the President also determines the makeup of the government, having the power to appoint or remove all the ministers of the government, including the Prime Minister.

The election is presently scheduled for 14 June, but is dependent on how quickly the League can move with granting French Charbagnia membership and protecting its elections.

ROENDAVAR DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY AS NEW MISSING CASES SURFACE
Randavara alaavierăth proiaenus vi'ergenoși ith khaloși lenderenemis itraeunî

The Grand Court has officially declared a state of national emergency after 23 people went missing in the morning of July 3, 2019. 13 of those were foreign tourists and the remaining are Roendavarians located in various cities throughout the country. The cases happened after a month of inactive cases, with the disappearance investigations put on hold last week.

The vote to declare a state of national emergency failed to pass in the Grand Court with a narrow margin of 3-1 and 106 voting for no and 104 voting for yes. King Ivan subsequently dissolved the Grand Court vote and gave the declaration the green light despite verbal abstentions from the High Chamber, most notably Vastarosi President Lord Viktor who expressed his discontent with the declaration, calling it "unnecessary". What is most surprising is that the two supposed astute allies of the King, the Presidents of Andavar and Sudever, also turned down the declaration. Only the Tillanorai President Lady Teodora approved the declaration. She stated in an interview immediately after the vote, "The events that Roendavar are facing are suspicious and foul play is definitely at work, both from within the populace up to the deepest workings of the government.".

The vote came after 23 people simultaneously went missing in the span of an hour on July 3, 2019. 13 of these were part of a tourist group hiking the slopes of Mount Moldoveanești near the town of Thaanicos. 6 of the hikers were Ahnslen, 4 were Aruian, 2 were Oster, and only a single Roendavarian serving as a tourist guide. Reports say they were last seen leaving Thaanicos at 6 in the morning. It was unclear whether they reached the peak of the mountain but investigations report that they went missing between 9 and 10 in the morning. The only remaining evidence of their ascent was an abandoned campfire around the midway point between Thaanicos and the peak. Both the Roendavarian government and media are still waiting for the response of the tourists' home countries.

Besides the missing tour group, another 10 Roendavarians went missing all around Roendavar. This came after a month of inactivity in Roendavar after the Tillanoran Great Forest was placed under lockdown. It was initially thought that the disappearances were coincidences and a result of Roendavarian strict environmental laws which allowed national parks to grow uncontrolled, resulting in disappearances within the Tillanoran Great Forest. However, yesterday, the Head Minister of Investigation Gheorgie Ithonrius Uncați said in an official statement released to the public,

"The recent cases surrounding the disappearances were inferred to have happen naturally, with such cases a result of curious people getting lost within our wild national parks. Today's recent cases proved our presuppositions false as the 10 Roendavarian missing were located in various parts of the country, with 2 even located in Vastaros. All of these cases share one thing in common. They all disappeared near national parks. The disappearances are undoubtedly caused by human activity, although, we are still not sure who the suspects are."

The Roendavarian National Park Observation Institute has also spoken about the recent cases. They identified that the cases were "definitely human" in nature and not in any way a fault of the country's environmental laws nor the country's national parks. Despite this, they have pledged to start a thorough investigation of all Roendavarian national parks, starting with the largest, the Tillanoran Great Forest, next week. Alongside the declaration of the State of Emergency, the RoNPOI has also closed all national parks. Strict implementation of the rules shall be observed within national park boundaries and every citizen are encouraged to follow law enforcement.

Given the declaration and repeated disappearance cases, the government has still been silent on the issue, especially the ruling monarch King Ivan. The Roendavarian populace are slowly being concerned about the issue, with minor protests commencing outside the Grand Court yesterday. Roendavarians are calling for the government to explain the current issue and release an answer as soon as possible. Although the government has not started a curfew, most Roendavarians are choosing to go home early, especially in towns.

The government has urged the people to remain calm as of this time. The declaration of a state of emergency bears no changes to the country, only heightened alerts and the closure of national parks. The country will also still participate in the upcoming Gael Cup, and if it were to happen, Roendavar would still host future matches in the country despite the cases. The Grand Court assures the people that everything will be going well in the next few weeks until the state of emergency is lifted.

EXERCISE SHALLOW BEAST 2019

By Robert Asimov, 03 June 2019

ALDEBARAN PROVING GROUND - Last week, 26th of May to 1st of June 2019, Scantarbia's Joint Fast-response Task Force (JFTF) conducted an exercise on Aldebaran Proving Ground, which located on Scantarbia's southeasternmost island, Outer Taurus island. This exercise, which took place annually is called Exercise Shallow Beast. The goal of this exercise is to prepare the JFTF for any contingency situation, internal or external that poses a threat for Scantarbian interests in the region, from deep insertion, beach infiltration, ship-boarding, and hostage rescue.

"Of course, we strive for peace, always, diplomacy first. But, when all else fails, it never hurts to have a backup that you can rely on, and that is why we are here today, holding this exercise," said Gen. Elena Kirschoff, head of the JFTF, when asked about this exercise. Meanwhile, the head of state, Nicetas Akylas, is still on his state visits and is expected to still be on his visits for weeks to come, unless anything alarming happens.
Our reporters also met with those in command to ask what are they looking forward to in this exercise.

"The primary scenario of this exercise today is performing operations inside an enemy-occupied island, how to infiltrate, how to exfiltrate. The JFTF is a cross-discipline task force, combining navy, army, and air force infrastructure to ensure coordination and cohesion in order to ensure operational success. The SNS Poseidon here will provide air transport capabilities for the JFTF with our Ospreys and Chinooks and Venoms, we also have a handful of F35B aboard to assist the troops with air superiority and close air support, although most of this close air support will also be provided by our Vipers which will have a lot more flexibility on its operation. For naval transport, in our bay, we have several landing ships and RIBs or Riverine Infiltration Boats that could be airlifted by Chinooks to ensure maximum transport flexibility for our forces. We will use each of these methods along the course of the exercise and I personally, will be looking forward to it." said Admiral of Scantarbian Navy Surface Fleet, Admiral Frederick Hayes, onboard of the flagship, SNS Poseidon.

"Our submarines are here to practice deep insertion, what that means is we will be the hopping point between the LHD and the dropzone. JFTF operative will be carried by us, then using a helicopter from the LHD, followed by an aerial refueling, the helo will transit here, pick up the men, fly to the LZ deep behind enemy territory, before refueling again via tankers and then making its way towards the LHD. But in the next few days, we will try something different, we will carry the fuel instead of the tankers. So the helo will refuel here while also picking up the men before continuing to the LZ, and then stop here again to refuel before heading home. We believe this method will be more effective in the future because we want to limit our air assets, that's easily tracked by radar and probably shot down. So, I'll be looking forward to that." said Admiral of Scantarbian Navy Submarine Fleet, Admiral Fyodor Aleksei, onboard SNS Grapplehook.

Within the exercise, we also attached our combat photographers to document the exercise. Here are the pictures that our photographers managed to take:

Overall, reports from the military said that the exercise went smooth without any incident whatsoever happening, and they're satisfied with the capabilities shown by the JFTF during the exercise.

University of Ashluv Students Make Viral Documentary
6-6-19

"They were there before, they are there now."

The first words of the documentary, backed by images of the Svalbardian First Wave people of the Wake Islands and in Polar Svalbard itself, begin the story that twelve students risked their freedom to tell. The gripping drama of real events begins with backgrounds and interviews with elderly Svalbardians and First Wave peoples. It ends with violent images from Wake Atolla, taken only days ago and edited in at the last second before they turned their project in on Tuesday.

Since it was turned in at almost midnight on Tuesday, "The First Wave: A People's Tragedy" has been viewed over twenty million times in over thirty nations.

In two short days, the internet has exploded in controversy over film, which tells the story of the Svalbardian expansion and suppression of its indigenous peoples from the eyes of those that experienced it. Dozens of videos have been posted both in anger and celebration of the student film. The controversy the short documentary has stirred shows how deep both the pain and the hatred run on both sides. This is contrary to the message of hope the students had aimed to send.

"It's heartbreaking," Mozil, the project leader, said during an interview with this Publishing House. "We made the video to call attention to an issue and we risked a lot going over there and interviewing those people and capturing those images. But we hoped that it would change some minds over in Polar Svalbard."

The interviewer mentioned and read some of the comments, to which Mozil flinched repeatedly.

"Like I said, it's heartbreaking. The amount of hate towards a people as marginalized and oppressed as the First Wavers. This wasn't just a school project for us, you know? It was a chance to do some good in the world."

Since the documentary came out, tensions between Wake Sud and Polar Svalbard have flared rapidly with little attention from the international community. To Mozil, the League and others have "enabled the conflict" and the Svalbardian Secretary General is "willingly ignoring the human rights abuses."

Regardless of whether any one listens to the message, there is no doubt that the documentary has left a mark- especially on the students' lives.

All twelve students have reportedly been offered a job by various producers in Thuzbekistan, including by Thuzbek State News.

"Perhaps this way we can make a real mark," Mozil said when asked about the opportunities. "Not many people get a chance like this. Now, we get to make a bigger mark than we ever thought possible."

THE KING DELIVERS A SPEECH TO THE PEOPLE

As King Leon III settled into his role he decided it was time to address his subjects, a speech to reveal his intentions and rouse nationalism in Havalland.
Just an hour ago he met the crowd from his balcony.

"My loyal and faithful subjects, I have taken the time to mourn and now it is time, time to return Havalland to the glory it had in the early 1000s, a kingdom of flourishing glory and culture, formidable warriors and masterful musicians.
Havalland will retake her pride under my rule, this i promise!"

The King's speech was met with loud cheers befor almost every subject took a knee and chanted "Long live the king"
The people believe that Leon III will save Havalland and the future kings will be looked at as glorious leaders by the international community.
