Firefighters Battle Warehouse Inferno in Novgrad

Image

Emergency services responding to the blaze

3-3-19
by Admir Hasančić

Around 4:00 yesterday, a fire broke out in a Novgrad warehouse, quickly engulfing the facility. By the time firefighters had arrived, the blaze had engulfed the whole building. Several fire brigades from all across the city held positions around the fire until it finally burned out at 17:00. The warehouse was located in the Port of Novgrad, an important hub of commerce. Thankfully, the blaze did not reach any nearby shipping containers or other warehouses.

"The whole building burned down. But we're just glad that nobody's injured, that the fire didn't spread, that everybody gets to go home safe. We're just glad for that," says Ivica Rajić of the South Novgrad Fire Brigade.

Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire and an investigation is underway.

We Wish to Expand Further in Menna Shuli and San Javier: Magarati Companies

Image
The CEOs of various Magarati companies at a meeting

NEW LIBANG

Chief executive officers of companies based in the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates said jointly in a press conference that they want to expand their businesses further in the nations of Menna Shuli and San Javier. The CEOs further clarified their joint statement to the Libang Herald and other media outlets as follows -

Why Menna Shuli and San Javier?

Hira Bahadur Nagesia, President and CEO of Nagesia-Dhari Limited: It is the wish of everyone in Central Argus to see a stable Central Argus. Compared to other nations, like say Enchanta for example where the entire nation is in disarray due to complications regarding their leader, Menna Shuli and San Javier are very politically stable. In fact, Menna Shuli is one of the most stable countries in the Isles at the moment and the current San Javier government has really done many great things than the ones before. Both Menna Shuli and San Javier are within the Central Argus geographic location, are politically stable as I already mentioned, have rapidly developing infrastructure and possess strong financial sector. All of these make these two countries the ideal partners for our companies.

Does this renewed interest in Menna Shuli, even more so in San Javier, have anything do with the sanctions on Samudera and Thuzbekistan?

Terumi Kusunda, CEO of Bihani Media Corporation: As the CEO of a corporation that also publishes news, I will be blunt and say yes. There is no point in lying that the sanctions by almost the entire Isles, especially the so-called capitalist bastions or arsenals of democracies, against Samudera and Thuzbekistan have hurt our businesses. Trade nowadays is heavily interconnected. Like our friends in Kodo, for example, utilize tin that comes from Samudera to make their popular smartphones. Most of the 80 Magarati companies had their products assembled in Samudera. Necessary items from other nations have to arrive for those assembly plants to work but that is not possible at all with the sanctions. Most Magarati companies, including our entertainment-based Bihani, had huge consumer base in Samudera and Thuzbekistan. Now we seek to shift to businesses into Menna Shuli and San Javier's untapped markets.

Tarisa Hyungi, President and CEO of Athawa Sports: Let's not only blame the sanctions. The businesses also dwindled after the Ilsan government shut down branches of Magarat companies in the Ilse regarding the Lortika situation. Then the situation in Arvan got worse and we had to close our businesses there as well. Some of our friends moved their businesses from Arvan to nearby Lovsk temporarily with hopes of reopening again. Others like Kodo were already ahead of the game and had branches and plants in both Menna Shuli and San Javier since long ago. The rest of us are now following the lead taken by Kodo and a few other Magarati companies.

How will your expansion benefit Menna Shuli and San Javier?

Toran Chhantyal, CEO of CASware: Athara Magarat lacks manpower. This is the reason why almost all of the 80 Magarati companies have their branches and plants elsewhere. In doing this, we hire locally. We provided plenty of employment opportunities in Samudera and some of us still continue doing so there even with the sanctions. Menna Shuli is the most populous nation in the Isles and plenty of Mennans have already benefited from working as our employees. When we expand our businesses, we shall provide even more employment opportunities in Menna Shuli and San Javier.

Hannah Jirel, CEO of Jirium: Athara Magarat is a huge country but devoid of riches. Our country's top export is still food products. We do not have reserves of oil or abundance of valuable metals. Menna Shuli and San Javier are blessed in terms of raw materials that our companies need for making various products. We will provide new export markets to the governments of Menna Shuli and San Javier. We are already working with corporate, political, and economic experts from Menna Shuli and San Javier to make a win-win scenario for all parties involved.

Kumari Kyu, President and CEO of Kyu Construction and Engineering: (laughs) Like Vancouvian companies who had been investing on their railway projects there, we are looking to create both metaphorical and actual bridges that will link everyone involved: the Mennans and Javierans, their governments, various third parties, our government and we the Magarati companies.

DOMESTIC: Regulations on 'payday' loan industry to suddenly increase
Arnton, Ainslie

Following a petition which attracted over 253,000 signatures, the ACEGAD Government today decided to act upon what appears to be a general consensus of the predatory and unethical practice of payday loans. Payday loans are a form of short-term, low principle loan which has a high interest rate. It is designed for borrowers to get quick funds in order to make up for short-term shortfallings in their income or financial planning.

However, these financial products have attracted significant criticism and scrutiny over the past three years since they became popular. Payday loans have high interest rates and the repayments of these loans typically come off of the paychecks of borrowers. Local media has been highlighting multiple cases where these loans lead to people previously somewhat financially stable to near-poverty as a result of debt traps and the accumulation of multiple payday loans.

Furthermore, the presence and heavy advertising of these payday loans combined with a lack of oversight and background checks on borrowers of these loans have led to a financial nightmare for many Ahnslens who have taken out these loans. Changes in regulations expected to pass through the Parlai has set a cap on the interest rates of payday loans and on the overall amount of money these payday loan providers can collectively lend to borrowers. It has also created a period of 48 hours where payday loan lenders must perform background checks in order to properly assess risk.

In addition to this, an expansion in the powers of the Ahnslen Financial Services Regulatory Authority have allowed the relatively young agency to prosecute these lenders for unethical and unsustainable business conduct under the Corporations Act and the Financial Services Act. As for the market response, business has cautiously welcomed this move with a common belief that risky lending practices may stack up the odds of an Ahnslen recession occurring or contribute to intensifying a downturn in the domestic economy.

This latest move against payday loans is a continuation of a decade-long policy which has sought to increase the responsibility of businesses within a free market and compel corporations to act more ethically than they have done in the past. Minister for the Department of Business Ryan Gillerne gave a statement to Arendai today as the bill continued its way through the Parlai.

"This payday loan move is only just another step taken by successive ACEGAD Governments to ensure a fairer and more ethical economy in Ainslie. We refuse to stand and watch businesses and corporations take advantage of situations in which our constituents may be vulnerable for their own profit. The petition we received two months ago only reaffirms the condemnation of the current state of the payday loan industry and the conclusions that have been drawn surrounding it. We look forward to when this bill officially passes through the Parlai and allows us to ensure that this industry is responsible in its practices. ACEGAD stands for a fairer and ethical business environment."

Representatives of the payday loan industry contested the move by the Government, stating that it was "dangerous" and "contrary to a view to increase levels of economic growth". Furthermore, the financial services industry has expressed its disappointment at another example of heavy handed government intervention into their industry.

Political commentators, however, have applauded the move stating that it was a "no brainer" and would be very popular with the electorates. Our polling suggests that these pundits were correct, with a February 2019 survey stating that 76% of Ahnslens supported a move to regulate the payday loan industry.

SPORT: Openers fire as bowlers get their revenge
Arnton, Ainslie

Round Three was consistent with strong individual performances, especially from the opening batsmen of certain teams. As for the teams that won, the Firewasps won their toss and won by one run, the Titans elected to bat first and lost a wicket with 17 balls to spare whilst the Anchors elected to bat first and won by 25 runs. Richardson and Samatai impressed with the ball, whilst shaky middle order batting was concerningly common in these matches.

A batting masterclass from middle order batsman Mahoor (42 off 37), backed up by solid performances by the openers ensured that the Tanahair Titans received a reasonable score in what was difficult conditions. However, Joss Steward was not phased or inhibitied by the conditions at all hitting 56 off 48, with wicketkeeper Gillison hitting 30 off 23. Samatai won big with three wickets, slowing down what seemed an inevitable victory for the Seafarers. Other than that, it was an all round performance from all bowlers in both teams.

On Saturday, the much anticipated Firewasps v Wildfires match occured with outstanding performances from the openers from both teams. Shah (39 off 23), Nistoi (81 off 62) brought the Firewasps up to a high score which was only inhibited from going further as a result of an all round collapse from the middle and lower order. Sunderland (46 off 21) stopped short of a half century whilst Alex Daintree hit 71 off 43 to bring the Wildfires into contention to win the game. Taking it to a last ball thriller, Daintree and McKellar couldn't turn a relatively untimed shot from a single to a two. Despite Honeysett and McKellar taking two wickets each late in their innings, the score wasn't quite low enough for the Wildfires to chase.

Both Arnton teams left their round 3 games without a win, with the Rapids losing by 25 runs. Dexter (58 off 33) and Rikarah (31 off 29) enabled a score of 160 for the Arboran Anchors whilst a catch and three wickets from Richardson restricted the Rapids to 135. Ardale topped with 35 with Gillison making 25 runs and Arundel 24.

So, that's the Arendai roundup for another week. We'll see you next week with more T20 Max League news.

The Isles Need to Remember the Battle of Gatadpatigan Sea to Avoid Future Wars: Magaratis

Image
Victorious Dormill-Stiuraian ships returning home

NEW LIBANG

160 years ago, on this day, a man named Narayan Murmu was promoted to the Admiral of the Gatadpatigan Fleet of Hangate of Jaring's navy. Born in a rural fishing village that is now in San Montagna, Murmu was a diplomatic man of patience and restraint. However, his character would be forever tarnished by the event that would take place just seven days later after his promotion.

On 11th March of the year 1859, Muru's fleet of 7 frigates, 3 corvettes and 2 steamers spotted three Dormill-Stiuraian second-class ships of the line (the Constitution, the Golden Shield and the Union) and the 84-gun Dormill-Stiuraian ship of the line Kapitein Aric Vroomen while on routine patrol of the Gatadpatigan Sea. Dormill-Stiuraian Vice-Admiral Arnaud Hendry insisted that they were on trail of a pirate fleet but were politely told to leave "Santhali waters under Khas-Kirat Empire". Murmu assured that the pirates would be dealt by the Santhali navy. The Dormill-Stiuraians would have likely left Gatadpatigan Sea if not for what was to happen mere moments later.

As late as 17th Century, modern-day Dormill and Stiura's population lived under constant fear of raiders to their north - the Sunuwar Hangate. Since 13th Century till the end of their hangate, the Sunuwars raided Baimjeidian towns every month to capture the natives for the highly profitable North Argus Slave Trade. The Gaelitic hangate relied heavily on this slave trade and its power diminished as nations around the Isles changed their views on human slavery. The Sunuwar Hangate ceased to exist after Dormill and Stiura emerged as a nation-state. To the rapidly growing Dormill-Stiuraians, the Khas-Kirat Empire was reminiscent of their vanquished enemy in every manner. Unlike the Noronnicans who remembered Hangate of Arun Valley as their oldest ally or the Vancouvians who remembered Khas-Kiratis as the people who brought advances in medicine, mathematics, shipbuilding, astronomy and gunpowder; the Dormill-Stiuraian national collective only had images of dreaded Sunuwar raiders, a constituent state of the Khas-Kirat Empire, taking away their family members to be sold as slaves. Relations between these two empires were hostile from the very beginning.

On the other hand, the Khas-Kirat Empire was in practice a loose confederation of various hangates who were always fighting between themselves or against foreign powers. After multiple treaties in the 16th and the 17th Century imposed upon the 12 hangates of mainland Magarat that they could no longer engage in territorial wars, the hangates fought wars for even more petty reasons. When Chatha and Jaring were not fighting against the San Montagnans, they were at each other's throats. Jaring had just been out of yet another war against Chatha. This southeastern hangate prided itself for having the strongest within the Khas-Kirat Empire. They, like most other hangates, saw the Dormill-Stiuraians as an untrustworthy enemy who had annexed Sunuwar Hangate during the turmoil of the Heavenly War of Hangates. An untrustworthy enemy who was now eyeing South Kachee in Charbagnia and neighboring Torom; all the while violating the 1857 Argean Seas Treaty several times in the name of "hunting pirates".

When Murmu offered Hendry's squadron to leave without any incident, the captains under the Santhali admiral were incensed. Captain Sabin Manjhi of the Marang Buru outright labeled his superior a coward who bowed down to untrustworthy Dormill-Stiuraians. The Marang Buru, being the fastest ship present there at that time, advanced quickly within close range of the Dormill-Stiuraian squadron and opened fire on the Constitution, which was near the starboard end of the formation. When the three Dormill-Stuiraian ships returned fire on the Marang Buru, the rest of the Santhali vessels including Murmu's flagship Karma, had no choice but to came to their comrade's aid.

Nearly half an hour later, the Santhalis were in for a surprise when three more Dormill-Stiuraian ships of the line, 2 frigates and 3 steamers entered the battle from the northeast in a triangular formation. Dormill-Stiuraian gunners began to score hits on all Santhali targets. The shells fired by Dormill-Stiuraian guns began setting Santhali ships on fire. Panic-stricken Santhali sailors found firefighting efforts difficult amidst continued fire and almost constant shrapnel. After about 30 minutes of combat, the Santhali frigate Bonga was shot full of holes. The Dormill-Stiuraian ship Rene Perrot then attacked the 44-gun frigate Jaher, which caught fire. Meanwhile, three other Dormill-Stiuraian ships engaged the Santhali frigates Sohrai and Baha, both of which were soon boarded by Dormill-Stiuraian forces. Murmu's flagship Karma exploded and sank along with the corvette Tamak.

By the time the battle came to an end, only the 12-gun steamer Chandra Bahadur, managed to escape while the entire Santhali navy was non-existent due to being either sunk or captured by the Dormill-Stiuraians. Her crew informed the entire Khas-Kirat Empire of the defeat at Gatadpatigan Sea. During the fighting, 370 Dormill-Stiurains were killed and 200 were wounded while three ships the Union, the Golden Shield and the Kapolder were destroyed. The Santhali navy lost about 2,000 men killed and 150 were taken prisoner.

It was a small battle but the consequences were disastrous. The political landscape of the entire Isles was changed forever. Millions of lives were lost and nations destroyed. The naval battle was the immediate cause of the First Central Argus War as the 12 hangates and their allies such as Belle Ilse en Terre and Viceroyality of Rio de Ouro (New Totzka) united as the First Central Argus Coalition to fight the Dormill-Stiuraians and their Triumvirate allies. The Triumvirate's victory in the First Central Argus War led to the Coalition seeking for revenge in the second one. When the third one started, the belligerents were no longer limited to just the Khas-Kirat Empire and Dormill and Stiura or their respective allies. As technology progressed at a rate faster than many could imagine, a new kind of warfare made its way to the Isles. Trenches, automatic guns, total war, were all being invented, theorized, or tested in many nations. Battlefields were littered with the corpses of millions of men, women, and children. And still, the Isles did not learn from the mistakes of the three Great Argus Wars for the Imperial War took place. And even the Imperial War was the not the war that ended all wars in the Isles. The 30th Parallel War and countless other conflicts still happened. Wars still plague the Isles and nothing much has changed.

Image

At the night Admiral Murmu failed to prevent the naval battle at Gatadpatigan Sea from happening, the population of mainland Magarat was roughly around 11 million. Two centuries of multiple wars later today, it is half of that and the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates is still plagued by them. Perhaps it is wrong to blame one man for failing to stop his subordinate from blindly charging at the enemy and triggering the war and reasons for more wars that haunt the Isles forever. One can only wonder if Captain Majhi had been a diplomatic man like his admiral, would the Isles have conflicts wars today? Probably not, for the reasons for the wars were always there and what happened at Gatadpatigan sea that day was just the trigger. But still, one can imagine and hope for a better world.

As days progress, the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates and the Sultanate of Kachee grow more eager to have the latter join the French Republic of Charbagnia. Magaratis today want to atone for their past and seek the best alternative that would be win-win scenario for all. The French Republic of Charbagnia is rapidly militarizing and are supported by Dormill and Stiura, still one of the largest military in the Isles. Athara Magarat as a nation should not envy the military might of the Dormill-Stiuraians or even the Charbagnians. The federation of hangates should not be ashamed that they are handing over Kachee. Instead, Athara Magaratis should be proud that their nation has turned a new leaf and is not repeating what Admiral Murmu failed to do or what Captain Majhi rashly did 160 years ago. Athara Magaratis can only hope that the rest of the Isles also take their lessons from history and try not to repeat those mistakes.

Ealdwic Daily News

OCC: Upon learning that Athara Magarat had made a deal with French Charbagnia (a puppet of Dormill and Stiuria) that the Sultan of Kachee would surrender his Sultanate to French Charbagnia, a member of the Wellsian Office of Ungentlemanly Activity (Wellsian Secret Service) used bribery and blackmail to convince the five man Cabinet to overthrow the Sultan, establish a Republic, and renounce the agreement made by Athara Magarat.

THIS morning it has been learned that men of dignity and pride upon hearing of the cowardly act of their Sultan and his masters in the Federated Hangates of Athara Magarat, have risen up and saved their nation by proclaiming Kachee a free and sovereign Republic. The Sultan in a cowardly and despicable act had intended to turn his country over to the Republic of French Charbagnia. The former Cabinet members of the Sultanate have proclaimed themselves The Pentarchy and will govern the Republic during its time of transition. It is with great pride as a Wellsian to state that the Council has made The Empire of Wellsia the first nation to accept the Republic of Kachee into the brotherhood of sovereign states and will aide and assist them in maintaining their freedom against all who would deny them their rights. Upon the request of the Kachee government a training cadre of Wellsian officers and NCOs will be dispatched to help the free and sovereign Republic of Kachee to build a defense force to protect themselves from the avarice desires of all others. It is also learned that the Imperial Navy has loaned the Republic a squadron of Corvettes to not only protect their coastline, but also those oil fields that fall within Kachee's maritime limits.
As events develop, be sure that the Daily News will be there to ensure the people of Wellsia are kept informed of the glorious actions of the government of the Empire.
Prayers for our leaders and their wisdom in all actions.

WAR FOR MÊNNA SHULI AS SÂTÊP REACHES CONSENSUS

SHUHAKALLU - After long discussion and debate in the League led to Mênna Shuli laying down an ultimatum against San Javier, the government has elected to go to war. The measure narrowly passed the required supermajority, with 68 votes for, 23 against and 5 abstaining. Amongst those who abstained was the 'uhitap A Tempore, who stated his opposition to the measure but wanted to limit his use of 'uhitap power in affecting the decisions of the Sâtêp. The measure was origianlly presented by Kivêla Hitap Hiska, whose speech on the floor called upon the spirit of Hitap Tatta. Mênna Shuli has not fought a war on foreign soil since the initial days of the Keverai Expedition in the late Nineteenth Century, making this declaration a historic moment for the country.

"We will call upon the full might of our culture and our history. We will show the world why our soldiers are warriors and not mere career infantry," stated Hiska in his speech. "The weight of our training, our expertise, the inborn strength of our character and purpose, will end this threat to our nation."

Following the seizure of the Rayo, MTD investigators found large quantities of smuggled opioids intended for distribution through various criminal and rebel groups within the country. It appears to experts that San Javier has been backing Mênnan warlords through this supply of drugs, which have also been tied to dependencies developed by child soldiers utilized by the rebels. The People's Freedom Coalition refused to disavow the warlords publicly or cut off their support.

"This invasion is not one of imperialistic gain," said Hiska. "It is one of self defense. If the water is being poisoned, you try and find the source and end it. We have found the source of the Mênnan poison and it lies in San Javier. The PFC government will end their ties with criminals within our country or they will suffer the consequences of aiding enemies of our people's unity and stability."

Military spokespeople have stated that theycannot discuss more about the current plans of invasion, which are believed to already be underway.

"At this time, we are not at liberty to discuss matters of state security," said Prince-General Mipax Sul, who has been put in charge of ground forces for the war. "This choice has not come from nowhere, and we are prepared to pursue plans that have been put in place for some time."

MÊK will continue to update you as this story progresses.

Garnarah responds to foreign issues in its first session
Kevara, Keverai

After almost a month and a half of uncertainty, the Garnarah, the new legislative assembly of Keverai, convened for its first week.

Part of the agenda was the reform of the highest courts of Keverai and the now-unlikely possibility of a Presidential veto being awarded as part of a constitutional amendment.

There was a speedy vote this morning on a bill which would enable Keveraite power providers to use a transistor at the Mennan border in order to transfer power to its recovering nation. However, what is not entirely decided yet is what remuneration will come about from the actions of these power companies.

With little intervention from the President apart from the delivery of up to two speeches in a week, the Garnarah began to discuss matters abroad on its second day. Many events have been concerning the nation and its constituents according to our polling - everything from hornets to a neighbour declaring war on another.

On the third day, the President and the Leader of the Garnarah (LG) joined forces to deliver concurrent speeches on foreign matters this morning. The President also allowed the legislative assembly to question the Keveraite leader.

In Renaut's speech today, he pleaded for the swift entrance and passing of a bill to tighten border controls.

"We cannot afford to have these hornets disturb the stability that we have enjoyed over the past couple months. It is necessary to pass the bill in its current form and if not amend with haste."

As part of his speech, he also mentioned the issue of Kachee - a currently contested area of Charbagnia in a power struggle.

"On the matter of Kachee, it does not seem right to intervene on this matter - in the way Keverai has done, I'd encourage all sides to believe in the people's inherent right to self-determination. As Keverai has wanted a republic, we look to Kachee to stand their ground and ensure that the government form they want is the one they get."

He also touched on the matter of a Mennan-San Javieran trade dispute in response to a question from a delegate.

"There is no need for an adverse response. What we have here is a simple question of sovereignty and our renewed allies appear to be on the right side of the law. Of course, we will liaise with both sides but at this point it seems a relatively simple point of law.

A left of field question came from one of Renaut's KCDP allies, who enquired about suspicions of Suvurnian intervention in Kachee.

"We have no tangible, substantial evidence of that and if we do get that we will use the channels available to us to level the playing field"

A quick, off the hand comment from a senior Argus Conservatives delegate suggested that Roendavar will soon claim Kachee for nature, with the intent of creating what could be the Southern Sea's largest national park. There is no substantive evidence to back up these claims.

The final question was about Enchanti school shootings. This is what Renaut said to that.

"I send my condolences to the Enchanti people and to those affected but to be brutally frank, the solution to this is clear when you look at the data of other, similar nations who have particularly different policies surrounding firearms."

Pundits have applauded Renaut's move to open up the floor for questions, something he wasn't legally obliged to do. As there is much to discuss for the Garnarah, it is likely that this session will be extended from 7 to 14 days and more speeches are very likely.

CASTIEL SLAMS MENNA SHULI OVER CONFLICT

Premier Francesca Perez has this morning condemned Menna Shuli over it's decision to go to war over it's long standing feud with San Javier. Speaking at this mornings conference outside the Government Oval, Premier Perez said that countless lives would now be lost and the conflict would bring stability of the region further down. Perez expressed great concern and anguish over the declaration as news of Menna Shuli's intentions of war came to light, saying that war will bring nothing but needless death and destruction that will reward no victory or satisfaction once it begins. Perez urges Menna Shuli to retract the declaration and seek international support to resolve this by more 'diplomatic' means:

"The news of war from Menna Shuli is nothing short of needless and miscalculated. War against San Javier will achieve nothing but needless death and devastation for all involved. The region has seen numerous conflict all too recently and the insistence to jump into further conflict will bring yet more death and destruction. I urge Menna Shuli to rethink this heavy handed and poorly judged reaction, and seek further international assistance to resolve this before you become stained with unnecessary blood, war is not the answer".

Perez also asked the international community to refrain from 'taking up arms' with Menna Shuli, and that the war on drugs would not be solved by a 'one off conflict on San Javier'. In a final statement on the matter, Perez commented that while the discovery of drugs and criminal activity was damning and in need of a response, war was not the answer to the problem and by pursuing military action those involved are just furthering the issue for the rest of the region.

SENATE APPROVES PROWAR RESOLUTION
Oil companies dump $300 million into Federalist 2020 campaign chest after passage of nonbinding Mennan resolution, which will be ignored by President

Image
Senators and their aides sit in the Senate chamber following the passage of Resolution 57-SK on March 6, 2019

ELLSBURGH (FBCA)- The Senate today voted 19-14 along party lines to pass a nonbinding resolution voicing approval for Mênna Shuli's invasion of San Javier, a Federalist rebuke of the Hallowell administration's foreign policy that is expected to be ignored by Carldon Hall.

Press Secretary Linda Woodbead told the FBCA that President Alasdair Hallowell will decline to formally respond to Resolution 57-SK, which was authored by Sen. Sarah Tolton (F-Gavshin) and put to vote this morning by Sen. Jon Fitzlane (F-Frasyrland), the presiding officer of the Senate, who cleared all other business from the day's schedule to proceed with the tally.

"The President respects the opinion of the Senate, but is choosing to exercise his constitutional right to direct the nation's foreign policy," Woodbead said. "The administration stands by its policy of nonintervention in the San Javier crisis and the President will not give a written response to the Senate in this matter."

Resolution 57-SK is a formal expression of approval for the Mennan attack on San Javier, which began today with violent naval landings. The invasion, which is expected to receive support from international entities such as the Mesder Sea Treaty Organization, or MSTO, has its origins in a jurisdictional dispute between Mênna Shuli and San Javier which has been the subject of heated debate in the League of the Isles for a month.

The resolution reads in part:

"RESOLVED, that the Senate of the Federal Union of Almorea hereby expresses its approval and support of the military and diplomatic initiatives now being pursued by the Princely Republic of Mênna Shuli; and that it desires its goodwill to be known to the leadership of the Mennan state and the Mennan people."

The timing, and intent, of the resolution have raised eyebrows from across the aisle and elsewhere; tonight, oil giants including the Almorean Oil Consortium (AOC) and Gold Eagle Petroleum & Gasoline (GEP&G) registered with the Federal Electoral Commission for donations worth a total of $300 million to the Federal Party.

The money, according to the mandatory federal filing, serves as a "political donation for usage in the 2020 national congressional elections", during which the Federal Party will contest all the seats in both houses of Congress with its opponent, the Almorean Party. AMP congressmen have already assailed Resolution 57-SK, citing the corporate donations as proof of "sinister motives" among the Federalists.

"It is the worst-kept secret in Almorea that oil companies want to see the Argean oil trade disrupted by war in San Javier, so as to increase their own profits," said Sen. Nora Soodalter (A-Baranor). "The Federalists have shown, once again, that they march to the tune of their corporate masters when delicate national security matters are at hand."

Economic analysts are in general agreement that the developing conflict will throw regional supplies of petroleum off-balance, opening profitable opportunities for Almorean and Totzkan oil companies who are now linked closely together under the ATAFTA trade deal signed in December 2018.

FIRST BATTLE OF WAR SUCCESSFUL, "OUR OBJECTIVES WERE ACHIEVED" SAYS PRINCE-GENERAL

SHUHAKALLU - After launching a surprise attack on the souther shores of San Javier, the central command for Mênnan operations in the Javieran theatre have announced that the initial attack has been a success.

"Our objectives were achieved in this initial push," said Prince-General Mipax Sul of the Grand Army of Mênna Shuli. "We've acquired a beachhead from which the rest of our missions can continue."

Sul said that there was still "a lot of work" to follow, and that no one should forget the sacrifices made in the battle.

"A lot of very brave, very loyal warriors gave their lives yesterday," Mipax said. "We cannot let our national pride blind us to those who have laid down their lives for Mênnan security. Keep their names and deeds in your minds and hearts as we go forward into this campaign."

Landings were made at several beaches along the Delta of the Rio Del Rosario, which is set to act as the staging point for the next push of the campaign. For matters of national security, details of the operation have been left closed to the public. The victory has sent waves of public support for the war crossing the country, and it's believed that the military will expand recruitment in the coming weeks. Unemployed warrior caste have been lining up at recruitment locations around the country.

"The support we've been given just goes to prove the Mênnan willingness to sacrifice everything for the greater good," said Mipax.

Mipax himself has been applauded for commanding the victory, but the young vêhitap'at has been humble when receiving praise.

"All credit for the battle goes to the naval command," he stated. "This operation was entirely the brainchild of Prince-Admiral Shala. I can't take credit for any of it."

Prime Minister Cihangir Calls Mênnan Invasion "Illegal, Inhumane, and Reprehensible", Announces Naval Deployment
3-9-19

Moments ago, Prime Minister Cihangir called an emergency press conference. In it, he delivered the following statement:
"Earlier today, the Mênnan news outlet MEK, quoting Prince-General Sul, announced that they had invaded San Javier and had established a beach head. This invasion is illegal, inhumane, and reprehensible. Instead of trying for negotiation and mediation, the Mênnan have chosen to invade San Javier and violate its sovereignty. In the days before this unjustified crime against the lives of Javerians, the Mênnan delegate had declared an ultimatum that went practically unchallenged by the League of the Western Isles. This implicates the League and marks its failure as an organization. Regardless, this cannot stand. Before coming to the nation today, I contacted our allies abroad to begin building support in San Javier's defense. I also commanded our Central Fleet to deploy to the area. We, as an international community of sovereign nations, cannot allow this to stand. What is currently befalling the island nation is a fate that could happen to any nation in the region should the sovereignty of but one be so carelessly tossed aside. There are established methods that the Mênnan deliberately avoided. As such, we call upon all responsible nations to join us in the coalition to protect Javerian sovereignty and, by extension, our own.

To the Mênnan government, I say this: Withdraw from San Javier lest the whole region follow your reckless example."

Following the press conference, Thuzbek State News verified with sources in the Ministry of the Navy that the Central Fleet had been dispatched and that there were further orders for Marine bases to be activated.

Thuzbek State News will update as needed.

March 9th 2019 | The Blakenham Telegraph | Feswick Convention Centre
Constitutional Assembly formally enacts the new constitution

This afternoon, the Constitutional Assembly unanimously voted in favour of enacting the new constitution marking the end of royal pregotaive and the unmodified nature of the Kingdom's constitution.
Image
Inside the temporary chamber of the Constitutional Assembly at the Feswick Convention Centre

It was expected that this move would come towards the end of March, but significant progress has been made over the past two weeks, with sessions lasting until the early hours of the morning. It appears that the parties had gapped divisions in order to ensure progress was made, with the added interest of fresh elections for the new National Assembly behind their increased speed.

"All parties came to the consensus that working with all parties equally and putting aside our differences would allow us to create something that would work for the country. We are delighted to see all of our work come to fruition today. The unanimous vote for the adoption of the Constitution shows that this constitution is fair, equal and free from the influence of party politics. David Hutton, Leader, Liberal Party.

This sentiment of cooperation is unlikely to last, with the calling of new elections expected to take place imminently; as soon as the Constitutional Assembly is dissolved.

DOMESTIC: Legal pressure mounting against recent Kernai promotion
Banjirai, Ainslie

Legal and social pressure surrounding a recent move from the major supermarket chain in Ainslie, Kernai. It has taken many by surprise, including experienced judges and professionals. Whilst it has not entered the courts yet, there has been mounting calls and a petition which has attracted 56,000 signatures for the Ahnslen Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to investigate the Kernai's recent "Pocket Shop" promotion on the grounds that it is unethically marketing to children.

Essentially, the Pocket Shop promotion features small toys of popular brands with every $20 spent at a participating Kernai outlet earning the shopper one of these toys. These brands include washing detergent, peanut butter, soft drink and toilet paper. Increased awareness of the power of the "nag factor", where children can often influence their parents purchasing decisions through persistently pressuring them has left some Ahnslens cynical and unsure of legality of Kernai's move to offer these plastic products.

A senior barrister who elected to remain anonymous spoke to Arendai International this morning, referring to these events as "a stupid stunt". The Arlanese Lawyers' Society expressed concern about the Ahnslen legal system being turned into a joke. These are somewhat similar comments to what we received from the Commissioner of the ACCC who stated that "if there is a legal case for this, we may look into it. Our advice however indicates very much so to the contrary. We're not going to investigate a novelty."

According to experts, however, it is not just the idea of utilising the nag factor which has brought up controversy around this promotion. The general consensus from pundits and commentators is that it is rather the environmental costs and an air of ethical consumerism which is driving much of the discontent about Kernai's recent move.

The International Parks and Nature Organisation today said that the biggest concern was how much plastic this would use. These Pocket Shop toys come in individualised plastic packets, which have already begun to litter streets around major Kernai supermarkets. Patrick Carvane, the CEO of the organisation, also stated that while he does not support a legal case at this time against the company, the business does really need to step up.

"There does seem to be a track record of this for Kernai - excessive packaging on fruits, a lack of consumer education on the plastics that the business uses, no reusable plastic bags which have been embraced in recent years elsewhere, a lack of support for sustainable and ethical farming practices... they have a track record of this kind of thing... it's not entirely surprising they have went down this path"

There has also been speculation that it is not the ACCC that will intervene, but rather the Ahnslen Financial Services Regulatory Authority who may adjust their goodwill tax score for the business in wake of this program.

SPORT: Firewasps defeated whilst Tanahair claim first win
Mandara, Ainslie

The last round of the standard season for the T20 Max League left the undefeated streak of the Firewasps broken, a much awaited win for the Suvurnian-Samuderan team and a promotion of Marcus Nistoi to an opener amidst his blistering run of form.

The Friday night of Round Five gave us a clash between the Rathane Seafarers and the Arnton Wildfires. The Seafarers won the toss, sending the Wildfires into bat first. Honeysett top scored with 39, with 5 out of the 7 batsmen who walked to the crease reaching single digits as they set a total of 137. Gail Arnett's leg breaks delivered a 3fer that prevented a meaningful partnership. Honeysett struck early, taking Norman's (13 from 8 balls) wicket before a masterclass from Wardle (51 off 28) and Steward (73* after 34). Only twelve overs were needed for the seafarers to cruise to a victory over the Wildfires. Alex Daintree, the Arnton Wildfires captain, in his post match interview gave his comments on the game.

"The pitch didn't look great, the outfield wasn't going too fast but Jossie's [Joss Steward] clean hitting really brought the Seafarers comfortably home. Wardle as well... I hope the selectors were watching tonight - maybe not my innings [Daintree begins chuckling] - hopefully they switched on a bit late..."

Sunday afternoon brought us a close clash between the Tanahair Titans who won the toss and decided to bat first and the Arboran Anchors. Lumaj (65 off 39), Harbenda (43 off 48) and Saipudin (37 off 23) provided a quite respectable total of 164. The Anchors came out swinging, with the two openers scoring 106 off 65 in total. However, this continuation of big-hitting almost lost them the game, as five wickets fell quite quickly as tweaker Tahajin ended with a 3fer and taking it to the last over. With five balls to spare, Wildfire Richardson hit a quick single to win the game.

The Blaxland Explorers on sunday night sent the Firewasps into bat first with Nistoi being promoted to number two. Ahmad Shah scored 32 off 23 and Nistoi 42 off 31. The next four batsmen made starts but couldn't make the most of it in their quest to set a total of 152. The Blaxland Explorers comfortably chased it within 19 overs, with Perry (32 off 23), Stratton (21 off 15) and Innes (58 off 41) setting a good foundation for the middle order to finish the game off. The Firewasps ended up second best for the first time this season, with their undefeated streak being broken.

It is now confirmed that the Firewasps with four wins, the Seafarers with 3, the Wildfires and the Explorers with two wins each will progress to the semi-final. Despite the recent loss, the Firewasps remain the favourites to be champions this year.

Semi final games
  • Seafarers v Wildfires - Friday 7:30pm, Harbourside Stadium in Rathane
  • Firewasps v Explorers - Saturday 7:30pm, DCG in Mandara

We'll be back in a week for all the info from the semi-finals at Rathane and Mandara. We'll see you then.

The Mennan-Javerian War: Day 1, Del Rosario Delta secured after tough fight.
08 March

SHUHAKALLU - After several weeks of tension between the two South Argus nations, Menna Shuli has launched the first strike in what is reported by analysts in the Army as “the start of a long, bloody, and likely inconclusive war”. Although MEK reports that the attack at the delta of Rio del Rosario was ultimately successful, they have not responded to any requests by the Dispatch or other international reporters on the human cost of the battle “[f]or matters of national security”, and in the opinion of the author that the concern is less about leaking battle plans and more about shielding the Mennan people, and the wider Isles from the actual cost of the battle. Further, Prince-General Mipax Sul has refused to make any comments to the Dispatch on the matter for much the same stated reason.

The Dispatch had contacted analysts and historians in Dormill and Stiura to assess what the situation actually is. Professor of History at the University of Waalwijk Placide Van Amersvoort has stated in his reply to us that “The Mennan Army has had a history of suffering massive losses for even the most strategically insignificant victories”, and more importantly than that, he said, he also mentioned that “the Mennans refuse to allow the deaths of thousands to impede their campaigns, the Keverai Expedition and Second Central Argus War are evidence enough where Dormill and Stiura faced the Mennan Army in the field and on the campaign”. In the realm of the modern day, however, Army analyst and reporter for the Dispatch Julius I'Anson has also mentioned “[m]odern war is very different from the Wars Menna Shuli has fought before, even their own warlords aren’t as experienced as the Javerians, who had been fighting for several generations now”, and he agreed with the reports sent to the National Congress that the war will not only end badly for the Mennans, but will have effects that spread across the Isles that nobody had considered earlier.

President Dyson traveling on scheduled trip to Almorea, talks on the Mennan war likely involved.
09 March

KAPOLDER - Early Friday morning, President Dyson left from Kapolder on a previously scheduled state visit to Almorea, tweeting out that addressing the situation between Menna Shuli and San Javier will be included in the discussion. The Federal Union and the United Republics had always shared a unique relationship, both formed from the fires of a revolution to become governments of such similarity. The last time Presidents Dyson and Hallowell met was after the latter’s 2017 inauguration, where they emphasized building a stronger relationship between their nations. This 2019 meeting will focus more on the nitty gritty of this stronger relationship. Some statements from the Ministry of State suggest that a wider arrangement with the ALDRATO bloc (ALmorea - DRagão Do Mar - TOtzka) was also being worked on, but these have not been confirmed by either President leading into Friday.

President Dyson will spend the rest of the weekend in Almorea before returning to Cour Rouge.

14 CHILDREN MISSING IN TILLANORAN GREAT FOREST
14 peticathoriae vasănoi în Tillanorai asearalorașiara

Image
Filciesta City, Iasunti Municipality

FILCIESTA CITY- 14 children, ranging from 8-9 years old, were reported missing at Marciera Elementary in Vamaroi District, Filciesta City during recess. According to several witnesses, they were playing in the school's football field, near the edge of the Tillanoran Great Forest, when they mysteriously vanished. Security footage managed to capture the children walking to the forest hand in hand, proving that they are currently missing within the Tillanoran Great Forest. Despite the footage, no traces were found in the vicinity of the school.

According to the Roendavarian Insitute of Nature Studies, the Tillanoran Great Forest is the largest nature reserve in Roendavar, with undisturbed dense forest stretching from Filciesta, to the eastern part of Porta Municipality, up until the northeastern coast of Valdiari Island, encompassing Noacie Municipality and the city of Eire, as well as the Vladimir-Dociara International Airport. A portion of the forest also covers the volcanic island of Mount Maciesti and the island of Tillanora in TIllianan.

Due to its status and tight environmental laws, much of the forest lacks in monitoring and can be impassable at times. Several outposts are located on the edges of the forest as well as near small towns in Noacie Municipality. Roendavar also has the most advanced and sophisticated nature protection agency in the world, necessary to maintain its huge national parks.

Outposts near Filciesta observed no activity on the outskirts of the forest near the elementary school. Roendavarian National Park Observation Institute (RoNPOI) released a statement earlier that the search for the missing children had to be called off due to the wild growth of the inner parts of the forest and that a more organized exploratory team is needed for the job. With the unpredictability of the forest and the lack of any evidence or tracks that would lead to the missing persons, the RoNPOI has assigned the case a Level 3.

Meanwhile, around social media, many are interested at the strange events that occur in the footage. Some have commented on the blank expressions of the children as they held hands together and walked to the woods, never to return. Some have also noticed that the leaves on the trees were not moving despite the presence of strong wind in Filciesta that morning. There were also talks of conspiracy, like alien abduction or paranormal activity. Some have even suggested a secret government operation. This is not surprising as the Tillanoran Great Forest is also regarded as one of the main sites surrounding paranormal and extranormal events in the world.

Author of the famous horror series Lucas Thomespriau Viciesti and father of one of the children, Mariu Viciesti, remained silent on the issue. Some parents of the children are devastated and are asking for the government to double its efforts. One of the parents of the missing children, who chose to be unnamed, expressed "grave concern on the behaviour and the way their children were acting", and claimed that "they were not like that. They are never like that. That is unnatural.". A teacher on the school also expressed similar concerns, stating "This is very strange, and I hope those children are found."

King Ivan I has commented on the issue, calling for "calm and order". He has also assured that the government is doing everything in its power to find the missing children, however, efforts still remain inconclusive, and the government has yet to outline a plan for the exploration into the Great Tillanoran Forest.

Any major operations into the forest would be the first in two decades, and since then, the area has grown wilder and more unpredictable. The government has advised it citizens, especially those who live near the edges of the TIllanoran Great Forest, to keep a close eye on their children and to report any strange activities. In the meantime, the search for the missing children continues.

PRES. HOSTS DORMILL AND STIURA'S DYSON
State visit comes amidst spreading Mennan conflict, rumors of strengthened trade and political ties

Image
President Cedar M. Dyson of Dormill and Stiura (L) meets with President Alasdair Hallowell (R) outside Carldon Hall in Ellsburgh on March 8, 2019

ELLSBURGH (FBCA)- President Alasdair Hallowell this weekend played host to his counterpart from the United Republics of Dormill and Stiura, Cedar M. Dyson, in a state visit that came amidst a widening international crisis over Mênna Shuli's invasion of San Javier that has exposed divisions among foreign powers and in Almorean politics.

The two presidents met on the steps of Carldon Hall shortly after noon on Friday amidst a display of pageantry that included the playing of the two nations' national anthems, a flag-raising, and a review of the Republican Guard. Police presence was heavy in the capital, with the Special Security Service evicting three thousand "vagrants" from their dwelling-places in the hours before Dyson's visit. After the ceremonies- the second state visit which Ellsburgh has hosted in 2019- Hallowell and Dyson retired into Carldon Hall.

Friday night saw a state dinner attended by the heads of state, as well as by various officials including Deputy President Michael Jardine, Ellsburgh mayor Marlon Caesar, and Secretary of State Kirk Thurson; Dyson's entourage included Paschal Oliver, a high-ranking official in the Ministry of State, and Hervé Dorsey, the Minister of Commerce.

The state visit was the first meeting between the two presidents since the inauguration of President Hallowell in February 2017, and was billed as an opportunity for Almorea and Dormill and Stiura to strengthen bilateral ties at a time of geopolitical uncertainty.

After Dyson left early on Monday morning, the State Department released a short statement summarizing the weekend's discussions that some analysts have panned as short on details.

"The President was happy to discuss a proposed free trade agreement with President Dyson that will reflect his administration's policy of commercial openness with Almorea's partners. Trade representatives from the United Republics will meet with the Trade Secretary next month in order to bring this discussion to the next level. In addition, the President was pleased to schedule a meeting between his partners in the ALDRATO alliance, the President of the Totzkan Union and the Prime Minister of Dragão do Mar, and President Dyson that will tentatively be held in one of the three ALDRATO capitals in June 2019. The President and President Dyson also discussed the ongoing situation in San Javier and recommitted themselves to effective and swift bilateral solutions."

In a private meeting on Sunday evening, Hallowell gave Dyson an original copy of a letter written by Robert William Howard, the first president of Almorea, to Stiuran revolutionaries in 1795, extolling them for their bravery and discussing the virtues of liberty and independence. Hallowell hailed Dyson as "a good friend" and "a man who's really transformed things, an effective leader. An effective leader and a good man."

The Almorean ambassador in Cour Rouge, John Watt, confirmed to the FBCA on Tuesday afternoon that Hallowell will visit Dormill and Stiura in May, the month preceding Dyson's meeting with the ALDRATO heads of state.

The state visit was a welcome distraction for President Hallowell, who has been faced with opposition in the Federalist-controlled Congress over his handling of the San Javier crisis. On March 6, the Senate passed a nonbinding resolution offering its support for Mênna Shuli, a rebuke of the President which has been ignored by Carldon Hall.

This afternoon, in comments to reporters following a meeting with the ambassador of the Hearn of San Jimenez, Secretary Thurson condemned Mennan military operations, praised recent Thuzbek mobilization in support of San Javier, and warned against the intervention of the Mesder Sea Treaty Organization, or MSTO, in the conflict.

"The administration supports Cihangir in what he's doing," Thurson said, referring to the prime minister of Thuzbekistan. "This bloody and ill-considered invasion was, is, and will always be a violation of international law and norms of state-actor conduct. If the MSTO sees fit to intervene, they can expect reasoned, yet firm opposition from Almorea and our alliance partners."

Vyberia To Consider Response Over San Javier

Image

"All options are on the table over Menna Shuli and it's Coalition over San Javier"

President Grigory Vasilyev has confirmed that all options are open and on the table to Vyberia in response to the attack on San Javier by Menna Shuli. Vasilyev says that the military action over the island was illegal and unjust as Menna Shuli has begun what is being seen as an invasion of San Javier. Vyberia has remained quiet over the issue u until now, but Vasilyev has said that Vyberia cannot sit by and allow an illegal invasion of the native island. Vasilyev has also condemned the actions of the coalition force currently engaged in the conflict, citing that it's disgusting seeing nations actively encouraging and supporting such behavior. When asked what actions Vyberia intends to take, Vasilyev replied that 'all avenues are open on the table' and that Vyberia does not intend to sit back and allow the barbaric and inhumane actions of Menna Shuli to continue.

Vasilyev was asked if Vyberia would send military aid to San Javier, or take military action over Menna Shuli. His response was vague but clarified that by all avenues; military action was included as a possible option. It is unclear when Vyberia will make a decision on it's response, but judging by Vasilyev's words today, a response may be witnessed very soon. It seems that Vyberia is not along in it's condemnation of the attack, several other nations have expressed similar comments but there is currently no indication on a joint response over Menna Shuli. For now it seems enough that Vyberia has spoken of its views, what happens next remain to be seen, but there could be further escalation of this conflict before it's resolved. Vasilyev did finish his speech by saying that he was conducting a meeting with senior Vyberian Military staff to discuss the next steps straight after this news conference.

Vyberian Military could target Menna Shuli over San Javier

Image

"Fears surface that Vyberia could strike it's neighbor"

'Experts' fear that Vyberia is about to strike against Menna Shuli in a retaliatory response over the San Javier conflict. War against Menna Shuli would be deemed justified after they launched an invasion earlier last week. Vyberian Government has this morning commented that it is considering all options of response, including military action. Vyberia has the firepower and the means to launch catastrophic damage to its border neighbor and would not hesitate in launching strikes. Vyberia would likely seek military targets against Menna Shuli and the nations long range strategic bombers would achieve unrivaled destruction. Whilst military action is seen as the very last option, it's been noted that Menna Shuli is unlikely to withdraw or cease hostiles and the inclusion of multinational forces has exacerbate the situation further. It seems on paper that avenues are limited at this stage, but Vyberia is clear that actions must be taken to stop this conflict against San Javier.

Many people are commenting that Vyberia could strike hard against Menna Shuli and disable it's ability to continue the conflict. Air strikes, Naval Strikes and troops on the ground could all be possible, missile strikes is another option to avoid casualties from Vyberia. But if Vyberia was to strike, it's being questioned how hard, how long and to what extend, online commentators are debating if a strike would have any international impact and would Vyberia just be conducting 'Two Wrongs, No Right'. The inclusion of other nations has brought difficulty in how to approach this issue, aside from starting World War Three, to which Vyberia has no such intentions, it's determined to halt the invasion and seek resolution, even it means Vyberia has to spill blood to achieve it.

Consul Bellum Klark Zeltargo states an attack on Menna Shuli is an attack on Polar Svalbard

Earlier today the nation of Vyberia, located in South Argus, has issued a threat to Svalbardian ally, Menna Shuli. The nation's leader President Grigory Vasilyev has stated that all options for his nation "Are on the table", this includes the possibility of strikes on Mennan soil. This has raised alarms across the international community due to the fact that it is such a bold threat. The Svalbardian government was quick to respond.

The Consul Bellum held a press conference not long ago with an extensive Q&A session that our reporter was able to participate in. The full video can be watched here.

The Consul stated that in return all options for Polar Svalbard are on the table, it is unclear if nuclear weapons were on the table as any questions involving that were not answered. The consul did say though that Svalbardian allies would be asked to provide support.

In the current conflict Polar Svalbard has offered limited support, mostly logistics based, but the Consul did say that Svalbardian military assets around the region and at home would be mobilized. Asked if this would broaden the scope of Svalbardian engagement in the conflict in San Javier, the Consul answered that it was likely but that he could not say more due to operational security. Earlier today though the Second fleet was seen heading towards the Central Canal which could mean that military assets are being moved into the Southern Sea.

When asked why Polar Svalbard should put itself on the line for Menna Shuli, Klark Zeltargo responded quickly. "Menna Shuli is a strong Svalbardian ally, both economically and military. It extends more than that though, they are like brothers to us. They share the same sense of pride and strength that we have felt all the way back into the days when we were but coastal raiders. Mennan and Svalbardian blood share the same fire, similar to the bond that Polar Svalbard and Miklania have shared over the past century. We cannot roll over meekly when one threatens us or our friends."

We will have to see what happens in the coming days, but it is strongly hoped that Vyberia will stand down now that a strong opponent to its plans has presented itself.

THREATS FROM FOREIGN POWERS "WILL NOT SWAY COURSE", SAYS SÂTÊP

SHUHAKALLU - The government of Mênna Shuli has responded to pressures from foreign powers regarding the war with San Javier by stating that "our nation has the right to defend its internal security" and that "foreign threats to our rights as a nation will not be tolerated." The release from the Sâtêp specifically called out Vyberia, the neighbouring state having made threats of military action if Mênna Shuli didn't withdraw from San Javier.

"Any military response taken by Vyberia against the Mênnan people would be a sick parody of the same actions taken by the Mênna themselves," stated the release, which experts believe to have been drafted by Hitap Hiska's office. "Our war with San Javier began to prevent the continued funding of rebel groups via the drugs provided by the military junta of that country. An attack from Vyberia to prevent this action is equivalent to support of those same warlords, rebels and terrorists, and of the drug-peddling that funds them. An attack on Mênna Shuli is an attack on decency and morality."

Beyond this, the release stated that "Vyberia would only intend to disrupt oil production, throwing an already tenuous regional balance into a total tailspin" and that "Mênna shuli does not bow to terrorism and it will not bow to scaremongering either."

"We stand together, and so we stand unafraid," the release closed.

A war in Argus could be disastrous to regional oil and natural gas production, experts have observed, especially as certain supplies of oil have been redirected to the war effort in the past week. "A swift victory and a swift return to normalcy is of utmost importance," said the Independent Economic Research Commission at the University of Shuhakallu. "A drawn out conflict in San Javier or at home has implications not only for Mênna Shuli but our regional economy as a whole."

The government also thanked the support of its allies both in current and future conflicts, applauding their commitment to the "continued peace of Mênna Shuli and the Western Isles in the face of totalitarianism and rogue states."

After-Action Report: Raid on Agustin

KAPOLDER - The Army today released a public after-action report on Operation: Lightning, the code name given to the recent raid on the Javieran city of Agustin and the introduction of Doraltic naval and army forces to the country embroiled in its current conflict with Menna Shuli. Although several details regarding the battle have been omitted by the Army for security reasons, it has released a comprehensive report on the action to the National Congress and to the public, alongside a statement from the President regarding the action. Both will be included in this article in full as part of our reporting duties.

After-Action Report: Operation Lightning
Complied by: United Republics Army Intelligence Service

On 07 March, the Army received authorization from the Office of the President to conduct operations “critical to the safety of the national interests of the United Republics in the Southern Sea and maintenance of international security and peace in the region”, delivering a 90-day authorization to conduct operations to this effect. The following day on 08 March, the United Republics Navy deployed Coastal Assault Squadron 1 in its component parts, Union Coastal Assault Force and Dufor Hill Coastal Assault Force. The Union Force was deployed in a manner to sail immediately for San Javier while Dufor Hill Force was deployed to arrive in Swaneeak Atoll. When word of the movement of the Thuzbek Navy Central Fleet was disseminated, Dufor Hill Force was directed to perform operations necessary to the protection of Doraltic shipping and the Union Force as soon as possible.

When the Union Force reported on 10 March that it had entered the open water of the Southern Sea, the Army directed Able, Bull, and Carrion companies, 1st Battalion, 17th Airborne Regiment to deploy to the City of Agustin on the southern coast of San Javier to provide a beachhead for the 1st Marine Regiment aboard the Union. Reports of the commencement of this operation were disseminated on 11 March, and again on 12 March. The Commander of 17th Airborne, Colonel Constantin Steffen, then reported at 1330 that Doraltic forces had successfully entered the city and had begun its mission to secure it, the routes out, and the port in preparation of the arrival of the Union.
In the operation, it is reported on 14 March that a total of 32 casualties had been suffered, 12 of which were KIA, out of an operational force of 290 present from 12-14 March. Only one operational unit, 1st Squad, 1st Platoon, was entirely destroyed due to IEDs planted in a building adjacent to the Agustin Central Radio Station, one of the three remaining hardpoints held by adversary forces within the city limits itself. All objectives are reported secured and the Union reported around 2000 on 14 March that it had successfully deployed the 1st Marine Regiment without casualty at the port. Bringing the total operational force in San Javier to 460 troops.

At this time, there are no intentions to deploy further forces to San Javier, and the forces present have been given further orders regarding its mission.

A Letter to the National Congress and the People

As of 11 March, the United Republics of Dormill and Stiura, under the direction of the Office of the President, has committed itself to operations in San Javier in response to the Mennan-Javerian War not to punish San Javier or support Menna Shuli, but to ensure a swift conclusion to the hostilities. We have selected the City of Agustin because it has long been the headquarters of the dangerous Anliana Cartel, which the junta in Castillo Verde sought fit to leave be after it took power. We choose this city to show that we do not fight soley for Mennan honor, but we fight to protect the innocent of San Javier, to ensure an end to hostilities, and to ensure a safe transition of government away from the junta and towards a democratic society all Javerians yearn for. The United Republics will always be committed to the preservation of peace in the Southern Sea, and this will be the last time we wish to use military force in that aim. For as much as we wished the League would facilitate an end of the hostile words thrown by both sides, it is clear now that both sides were looking only for an excuse to fight. However, unlike other international actors who see propping up a criminal organization masquerading as a government, the United Republics rejects any notion of good will held by the junta or its representatives.

The United Republics agrees with the assessment provided in the League that the crew of the ship Rayo acted illegally and forced Mennan authorities to detain them. This is an indefensible act. The United Republics believes that the junta is incapable of acting in good faith when it demands the League punish Menna Shuli for actions performed in its own sovereign waters against illegal actors, regardless of the punishments that the Mennan justice system would have given. The United Republics stands for peace and democracy first and foremost, and is committed to act in every legal way to ensure that this is the case in every country in not only the Southern Seas, but all the Isles.

Cardinal Council to fully introduce Arbiter as Fifth Member

In a historic moment that shocked all, Following an intense debate within the council chambers of our great leaders, The cardinal council voted with a 2-2 split broken by Arbiter Aindreas McAlpine to integrate the largely auxiliary role of the Arbiter and have them vote on all resolutions regardless of weither or not the original four council members find themselves in a split, effectively negating the role.

"It is a relic from a bygone era, from when we dabbled with autocracy. Over the eyars, great strides have been taken in order to curtail the power of the Arbiter position, rolling it back from a nigh on dictator role to merely one that fit its name. One that settled disputes the council could not. We believe it is time we cease with this formality, to bring this outside role in line with the rest of our government, to treat it as the rest of out leadership is treated."

Despite these encouraging words spoken by McAlpine, many including the Northern and eastern Council members have expressed their shock at this, claiming it to be a regression of fundamental Nezaevan ideals that have allowed us to survive this long. however, following the sucess of McAlpine's recent proposals, such as both the repeal of the Isolation act, and the expansion of the nations fishing industry, many are praising his work at this time.

A timeline for the process of integration has not yet been established, however one spokesperson has stated that currently the position of arbiter may be placed to vote at the same time as the rest of the council in order to align both sections of government. Until then, we at the Eraevan Truth look forward to what our leaders come forth with next!

Nezaeva to not interfere with Menna Shuli - San Javier conflict

Despite the massive divisions within the upper echelons of our nation, our stance of observation has been affirmed by a spokesperson for the council, stating that there were no current plans to intervene on either side of the conflict brewing in the center of the isles, stating that our brave men would not be sent forth to fall in a conflict that both offered little of value to our proud nation and would leave ourselves exposed at home.

17 MISSING IN ONE NIGHT; TILLANORAN GREAT FOREST ON LOCKDOWN
17 vasănoi în uni noiți; Tillanorai asearalorașiara tieși braxăthicosa

Following an incident last week regarding 14 children missing in Filciesta City, news broke out that 17 new people are missing throughout the cities and towns that border the Tillanoran Great Forest, prompting the Roendavarian government, along with the Roendavarian National Park Observation Institute (RoNPOI), to put the largest national park and nature reserve in Roendavar on lockdown.

Several missing people reports were filed on the evening of March 19 in several cities across Roendavar. 5 children were once again reported missing in Filciesta City, 4 adults from Marăi City, 6 from Eire City, and 2 from Nacriethos Town near the Vladimir-Dociara International Airport. The cases were all peculiar as all of them were from settlements that were located either near or inside the Tillanoran Great Forest; with Filciesta and Marăi located in the western and southern edge of the forest respectively, and both Eire and Nacriethos Town were located within the Tillanoran Great Forest.

Although the Roendavarian Ministry of Investigations: Criminal Branch (RoMIn-CRIB) claimed that there is insufficient evidence that would connect the cases reported today as well as the missing children case from last week, the ministry stated that there is a possiblity that all of the cases are related somehow. Head of the RoMIn-CRIB, Minister Adrian Vitharcius Tezhenircos, said in an interview, "There is, without a doubt, something that connects all the cases, however, up to this point in time, we have found no evidence to prove it. We have been exploring all available angles, whether all the disappearances are deliberate or coincidential, and are they only confined to the Tillanoran Great Forest."

Meanwhile, the Roendavarian National Park Observation Institute (RoNPOI) declared a lockdown on the Tillanoran Great Forest, prohibiting any entry within 100 m. of the forest's edges. This is the first time in history that the Tillanoran Great Forest was placed under the hand of the law, which upsetted a lot of people especially those who live near the forest's edge. Officials have said that "We are enforcing this measures to avoid any further incidents in the future. We are also doing this to speed up whatever investigation the government shall conduct.". Observation towers in the forest will be manned 24/7, with forest rangers and police patrolling the edges of the forest.

The Roendavarian Government has advised the populace to get home as soon as possible and to avoid going near the Tillanoran Great Forest. King Ivan I posted on his Twitter account earlier this evening saying, "Rest assured, the government is doing everything it can to solve these cases.". Despite this, the Grand Court has admitted that even they lack any knowledge on the cases and are stumped on any action as well. Despite plans to launch an exploration deep within the Tillanoran Great Forest, no explorations have been conducted by the government which, according to them, was because of the forest's nature and environment.

Roendavarians have also begun to catch up on the happenings, proposing several theories on the incidents. There have been talks of criminal organizations, secret cults, and even drug cartels. Some have also proposed that the government has a hand on the incident, citing the government's inaction on the disappearances despite having the technology and material to explore the forest. Other mundane theories have surfaced with aliens and the supernatural as the focal point, however these are dismissed as mere fiction.

One thing remains, both the public and the government have no clue on how to deal with the disappearances, and with the Tillanoran Great Forest on lockdown, the country is hoping that no further disappearances shall happen. The public is still advised to remain vigilant and alert in the following weeks.

The total count of disappearances regarding the case is currently 31 as of March 19, 2019. 19 are children and 12 are adults.

Vyberia Cuts Trade With Menna Shuli

Image

"All trade and commerce blocked and refused at check points "

Vyberia has this morning confirmed that it is severing trade ties with Menna Shuli over the conflict in San Javier. Reports were rife that Vyberia was to conduct military action against the rouge state, but this was quickly dismissed as scaremongering. Vyberia has instead chosen to play a different game and cease all trade and block trade routes through Vyberia destined for Menna Shuli. This means that all trade for Menna Shuli will no longer be allowed to travel through Vyberia or through Vyberian sea lanes. This also means that all shipping and trade to and from the Southern Shipping Canal, and Northern Argus through Vyberia will have to find alternative and costly routes to Mennan ports. The decision to cease all trade is a strong stance by the Vyberians, who have long objected to San Javier being invaded by the military forces of Menna Shuli. It remains unclear how strong this action will affect Menna Shuli, but it's believed to be a huge inconvenience and one that will likely add additional transportation costs to Mennan trade and exports.

President Vasilyev was asked how Vyberia intends to stop all Mennan trade throughout Vyberia, his response was that cargo bound for Menna Shuli would be turned around at Border Crossings and Ships, Rail and Air cargo would be refused to enter Vyberian territories. Border police and Vyberian Coast Guard are being briefed on the situation and are expected to begin refusals immediately. President Vasilyev stressed that this action would affect both parties if this was to continue long term, but it was committed to showing stance against San Javier and that additional options would be considered going forward as the conflict progresses. Just how badly this will effect relations between the two nations also remains unclear, Vyberia continues to seek a resolution to the conflict but seem limited in it's options.
