For true freedom, the Union must end!

Image
By Marinho Gadhavi
The 26th of August is celebrated as “Liberation Day”, commemorating the day that, in 1974, all Totzkans were promised freedom. Here in the South it was freedom from tyrants and foreign domination, in Pamilya it meant freedom from a brutal caste system, in Yhaiva and Terras dos Picos it meant freedom from poverty and petty conflict and in Cas Vilsti it meant freedom from plutarchy and corruption. And yet 45 years later, foreign companies still control our land, a tenth of our population lives on less than 101.25 ES$ [$1.50 USD] a day and our politicians are both hated and unassailable. The Totzkan Union, the nation drafted by Suraj Chirapati and Amitabh Sanjiv on a battlefield in 1979, was not created to guarantee any freedoms but to carve up the nations of Totzka into the personal fiefdoms of a dozen men all in the name of unity and strength.

I had a friend, a lecturer at Sao Tiago university, who demonstrated when President Amero interfered in Estado Sao Tiago’s Comissão election in November. She was arrested over new year. I haven’t heard from her since. As far as the world is concerned, she’s vanished. As far as the security forces are concerned, she never existed. Another friend of mine, a street vendor in Nirapanza, was shot in the head when he failed to pay back a loan he’d taking from a local Sindicato thug. My friend needed the money to put food on his shelf. The man who shot him still walks free. The priorities of the security forces are not to protect the common Totzka citizen, only to protect the government.

We are fortunate in the South that the government has not yet stripped away our social mobility. It’s a constitutional guarantee, although that counts for little now. But the Pamil have no such mobility. In many ways us Ilha are the opposites of the Pamil. In Pamilya young people who have the potential to be educated at the best universities of the Isles work in the lithium mines for the featherbrained children of inbred landlords. I have nothing against the so-called Material Executive Ethno-Unions of Pamilya – they are increasingly the victims of the foreign exploitation of Totzka, forced to bankruptcy by the Marians, the Almoreans and the Muslim and Jews of Survunia and Vibor.

Suman Courtemanche, the State-President of the city of Cas Vilsti since the late 1980s, is the epitome of the Totzkan political elite, a representative of everything wrong with his class. Courtemanche is of Stiuraian heritage - claiming the descent from the Cas Vilsti’s former Gaeltic overlords as our other leaders look to claim some Magarati or the Portuguese heritage, and in doing so becomes a continuation of the foreign oppression of the Totzkan people. He is often hailed as the man of compromise, of bipartisanship, for his reconciliation of the difference between city’s ethno-factions. Yet under Courtemanche the Plébéien, the children of migrants and slaves, are forgotten, supressed and silenced when necessary.

This is the Totzkan Union laid bare. A collection of states defined by corruption, hypocrisy and avarice. The system survives on the blood, sweat and sacrifice of the common Totzkan all to service a dream of liberation and unity. We will accept this nightmare no longer. We demand freedom from a vile and monstrous state.

The system is breaking down. Our politicians may think they are untouchable, but they are also weak and lazy. The Yhai have roared for their freedom and the President and the Comissão Popular flinched and caved. Either through democracy or violence Yhaiva will soon be free. Let the independence of the Yhai be the precipice of a second revolution that will free all of Totzka. Let the cities of Okhary-Karoletz, Mount Lonli and Cas Vilsti stand as equals to Parazina as capitals of their own sovereign nations.

Our parent’s generation is cowardly and still shell-shocked from the horrors of the first Totzkan Revolution. It is up to the youth of Totzka to take the torch first lit in 1961 and delivering on the promises of 1974. Direct action is against tyranny is not aggression, it is self-defence.

The 26th of August is celebrated as “Liberation Day”. The lie that we were ever liberated must end. Soon a new day will be chosen where the sun will rise on the Isles and the five ‘nations’ of Totzka will one again be nations in the truest sense of the word. Hail Ouronna. Hail Pamilya. Hail Terras dos Picos. Hail Yhaiva. Hail Cas Vilsti. Death to the Totzkan Union.

Anarchist Alsa Commune falls after failed resistance to APD

ALSA, ALSAN REPUBLIC - The autonomous anarchist Alsa Commune, having existed for almost two decades, is finally shut down for good.

The move comes after a warrant was issued by a judge of the city of Alsa directing the DesCon-subsidiary Alsa Police Department (APD) to take control of the community after it was revealed that illicit activities including widespread drug trade, prostitution, and several murders.

Following the issuing of the warrant, a task force of at least one hundred police officers arrived at the commune and announced that the commune was no longer legally authorized and recognized as a independent community, ending the agreement arranged in nineteen years ago in which the city government drafted the commune's powers to self-manage and essentially act independently on a variety of its affairs.

The relationship of the Alsa Commune with the city had been tense ever since its founding. In May 2004, police arrested a suspect that had escaped into the commune, drawing protests near the commune and leading to several arrests. In 2010, seven overdose cases were linked to drug dealing in the commune. Until its dissolution, the Alsa Commune was home to both anarchist gangs as well as freelance writers and dissidents. The commune also boasted a diverse range of demographics, mainly having young, Euranian, Japanese, Khas-Kirati youth as well as other groups.

When the warrant was issued, the Alsa Commune initially announced anger towards it, and its administration, through its social media, attempted to downplay the warrant while trying to debunk its legal power in a series of tweets. The day of the warrant's execution saw the administration post a final message on social media vowing to resist, while urging Euranians to protest in anyway they could.

The process of shut-down was hampered by commune members clashed with police in the tearing down of commune insignia and flags the seizure of commune records. Recorded videos showed commune members charging police, attempting to attack with poles and sticks, and throwing projectiles and setting fires. At least 45 were arrested and taken to jail, while more were later released.

In a statement, the APD referred to the situation as justice, noting the commune's history of criminal activity and sedition. Supporters and former members, meanwhile, have challenged the claim, stating the commune had been overrun and that the "movement of freedom will still live on."

"BRAWL" BREAKS OUT AS JAVIERAN SHIPS DENY PRIDE ORDER

MIHÊKALLU - The situation with regulations against Javieran imports continues to escalate as the Police Department of Mihêkallu and the Mênnan Trade Department announce that a Javieran ship held in port denied a Pride order for access to their cargo, culminating in what has been referred to by witnesses as a "brawl" between inspectors and the crew of the ship. According to the PDM detail working alongside the Trade Department, the crew of the Rayo refused to submit to an inspection demanded by documentation provided by the Pride at the orders of the Sâtêp, despite the ship having been held in port for over 72 hours. When the police took this as a sign of probable wrongdoing and demanded access to the ship, sailors are stated to have "become hostile and violent", leading to a clash between the police and the crew of the Rayo. The crew of the ship has been detained, with several having faced injury during the combat. Two police officers have been hospitalized following the brawl, and one Javieran sailor has been confirmed dead when police drew firearms to end the fight.

"Our officers did everything possible to prevent bloodshed," stated Prince-Governor Titutsâ Sêptu of Mihêkallu. "Their hands were forced."

"A ship in Mênnan port must follow Mênnan law and must acquiesce to the conditions of trade that we impose," stated the 'uhitap a Tempore, Hitap Ihwalâ Luktsha. "When the Pride ordered the search and the crew failed to comply, they became criminals as per Mênnan law. There are no questions here."

The People's Freedom Coalition Government of San Javier has demanded the immediate release of all detained, claiming that they are willing to take this dispute to the League. This threat comes despite San Javier's lack of representation in the League and their previous refusal to recognize the League's authority. The military junta of San Javier claims that Mênna Shuli has no right to enforce jurisdiction upon a Javieran ship in port, despite maritime law only covering open water.

"The so-called Javieran government is willing to utilize formal channels only when it suits their interest," said Hitap Usu Usu. "They will deny the League's legal rights when it suits them, and then threaten to utilize the League's powers when it suits them. We are totally within our legal rights to detain and hold anyone who attacks police within Mênnan lands. The ports of Mihêkallu count as Mênnan lands. The League will see it our way, I am certain."

The cargo of the ship has since been seized and detained by Trade Department officials, although the contents have yet to be announced.

"A full accounting of the goods seized still needs to occur," says Hitap Mipax Atta, Prince-Administrator of the MTD.

San Javier has announced that until Mênnan regulations have been lifted, they will be turning away all Mênnan ships and flights into and out of the country.

"We will not bend," said General Fresia, current Chairman of the People's Freedom Coalition.

MÊK will keep you informed as the story develops.

Explosion at Voz News HQ confirmed to be an act of terrorism – radical journalist is prime suspect

Image

Estado Sao Tiago State Security (ETSS) have confirmed that the explosion which occurred at the Engel Building in Sao Tiago city at 12.28 am today is being treated as a terrorist incident. According to the statement released at 8pm 28 individuals have been confirmed to have died in the attack with a further 81 hospitalised. The Engel Building was the headquarters of the left leaning news outlet Voz and the publication’s editor-in-chief, Teodoro Rúben Cruz, has been confirmed to be among those killed. ETSS stated that Voz journalist Marinho Gadhavi (pictured) was the prime suspect for the bombing.
Image

Minutes before explosion an article was uploaded by Gadhavi titled “For true freedom, the Union must end!” in which he called for the dissolution of the Totzkan Union. Eyewitnesses claimed to have seen a man matching Gadhavi’s description leaving the Engel Building carrying a gun moments before the attack. Aruna Madeira, an office worker at Voz who was fortunate enough to survive, claimed she heard gunshots coming from the editor’s office. ETSS stated that capture of Gadhavi was currently their top priority and have offered a reward of ES$ 500,000 [7,407 USD] to anyone who could provide information leading to Gadhavi’s arrest.

In his article, which has already been described as a madman’s ramblings, Gadhavi claimed that the Totzkan Union had become a corrupt and tyrannical state that must be destroyed in order to “liberate” the Totzkan people and stated that “Direct action is against tyranny is not aggression, it is self-defence.” Gadhavi singled out the nation’s security services, the Pamil culture of Ethno-Unionism and Cas Vilsti State-President Suman Courtemanche as reasons that the Union must be destroyed and stated that the referendum on Yhai independence bring an end to the united Totzkan nation. Gadhavi, appearing to be motivated by a sort of separatist nationalism, ended the article with “Hail Ouronna. Hail Pamilya. Hail Terras dos Picos. Hail Yhaiva. Hail Cas Vilsti. Death to the Totzkan Union.”

A word from our editor.

Voz has, for a long time, been the primary rivalry of Verdade. Our two publications are family of sorts, both being created as a result of the break up of the government owned Totzkan News Network in 1991. One might argue that while we have often supported different parties depending on which we see as being in the best position to defend the rights and freedoms of the individual, Voz has stuck by the Partido Socialista do Povo since 1991 demonstrating their principled approach to news and their unwavering loyalty to their core values. In my humble opinion they are a worthy rival. As such we at Verdade extended our prayers and sympathies to the workers of Voz News who have suffered this tragedy and, in the name of comradery and good sportsmanship, will donate 60% of our monthly profits to helping rebuilding Voz into great publication it was. Thank you.

Senator Elando openly remarks his refusal to give senator sit during election race causes a court case to open.

Last month Senator of the Socialist Gael party, senator Ar'tio Elando has stated he will not leave senator sit during the election. "There is no reason to lose the sit to server the public while intending to serve the larger cause" he posted on social media a couple days.
In response to this minister of foreign affair and member of the Aruian Economic and Social Justice party moved issue to the chief of senate and judge of the election to side over this case. "This is an unpresidential behavior and unacceptable, intending on such act means he see little intention in his responsibility as a civil service." This came after Moskovich accused that he suspect a party is being involved with a foreign entity attempting to sway the election in a parties favor.

RACHEL ALPIN COMATOSE,ENCHANTA WORRIED
SPECIAL-Rachel Alpin’s condition is starting to worsen. A few hours after the birth of her son, Oliver, she fell into a coma. At first the doctors thought she had fallen asleep but when she would not wake up to eat or respond to doctors, they realized something was wrong. Her breathing was shallow so they gave her an oxygen mask. According to our sources, she has Fenoma. Fenoma is a fatal disease that occurs in women shortly after birth complications. A bacteria forms in the mother’s uterus during labor and instead of releasing itself during the birth, it clings to the uterus lining. If not treated, it can lead to death.

“We do not know much about this disease but we are doing everything we can.”, said Hazel Sion, head doctor at St.Dove Hospital. Rachel’s hospital stay will be prolonged, but her lover Richard Harelm has temporarily taken over bill passing. However if Rachel does not start recovering elections will be held for a temporary leader to take her place.

People are praying that our glorious leader recovers, not only for the sake of Enchanta but to protect us from harm. Rachel and her son are the only people that have military authority. If something happens we will be incapable of defending ourselves.

Opinion
Last gasps of a futile resistance

The world has woken up to the benefits of global capitalism, and even its perennial enemies are starting to realise this

Construction in Samudera, a nation which just 30 years ago was a stagnant nation. The cause of this growth? Capitalist reforms.

By: Nick Tanah
Image

If we look back at the last hundred years of human civiliastion, we are living in an era of unprecedented growth and prosperity. We have phones which allow us to contact our friends across the world, we have planes which will get us from Suvurnia to Ainslie in a matter of hours, we have almost everything we want. Nations across the isles have gifted us with all sorts of inventions and technologies which better our daily lives. What is the common denominator, the factor which unites our people in the endless pursuit of betterment? Capitalism.

Despite the endless crying of the leftist mob, it is because of capitalism that we have this wealth. One only needs to look over at the starving, oppressed masses of Thuzbekistan to see that we have it better than them. We have the freedom to succeed on our own merits, the liberty to make our own prosperity in this world. And it works. Over the last years poverty has reduced, while overall incomes and wealth have increased dramatically. Through charity and investment, even the so easily demonized rich who the financially illiterate rail against help to better our society and infrastructure. Capitalism has changed society for the better, and the world is finally coming to terms with this.

The last year has illustrated the futility of those bumbling, well-intentioned but destructive, naive anti-capitalists. First, we saw the reactionary People's Liberation Front in Orsandia who plunged the Gaelitic region into chaos. The bloodshed that they caused should serve as a warning to anyone who seeks to institute the hopelessly romanticised Communism. Here in Suvurnia, the radical Tanah Merah 'radical socialists' failed to win a single seat in parliament, as did their friends in the terrorist Mene ni Aramas Mwahl. In Ainslie the APC and UFA parties, tireless agitators against global progress, suffered massive defeats as the people stop listening to their tripe. In New Totzka, the socialists lost so much ground that radical communists felt the need to turn to terrorism. Even Thuzbekistan and Samudera, where the fiscally illiterate claim the alliegance of much of the population, have seen a dropoff in the popularity of socialism and faced economic problems.

Karl Marx once wrote that "a spectre was haunting europe, the spectre of communism". After a hundred years of mass death and economic failure, people have given up the ghost. What possibilities wait a world united behind the belief in freedom and opportunity? We can only begin to dream...

Survurnian businessman held hostage by students from São Tiago University.

Iskandar Zainattudin, CEO of the Rambutan Electronics Company, has been kidnapped in São Tiago,by what are presumed to have been students. The Survurnian millionaire had travelled to Totzka to give a talk at São Tiago University (UdST) and, supposedly, to be granted the position of Chancellor of the University. According to an eyewitness account shortly before the talk was due to begin around eight to ten students, accompanied a middle-aged man, approached Zainattudin possibly to request an autograph. The group then revealed they were armed with handguns, overpowered Zainattudin’s security detail and escorted him outside the university at gunpoint where they forced him into a vehicle and drove off.

The Verdade office in São Tiago was contacted shortly afterward by the kidnappers who gave a list of demands that must be met for Zainattudin to be released. The kidnapper’s demands were extremely varied, targeting Totzka, Survurnia and nations around the Western Isles. The conditions for Zainattudin’s release were:

  • 6.4 Billion ES$ [equivalent to 95m USD]
  • The withdrawal of all Survurnian corporations from Totzka and nationalisation of their Totzkan industrial capital.
  • The resignation of President Francisco Améro and new presidential and Comissão Popular elections in Totzka.
  • Referendums on the matter of independence to occur in all 13 states of the Totzkan Union.
  • The inclusion of the Tanah Merah party in the Survurnian government.
  • The dissolution of the ALDRATO alliance between Totzka, Almorea and Dragão do Mar.
  • The dissolution of the ATAFTA trade agreement between Totzka and Almorea.
  • The release of all captive members of the People’s Liberation Front of Orsandia.
  • The lifting of all economic sanctions placed against Thuzbekistan and Samudera.
Estado São Tiago State Security (ETSS) released a statement saying they are looking for a 1990s dark blue hatchback, matching the description of the vehicle used by the kidnappers. If members of the public see such a vehicle they are advised to contact State Security immediately and discreetly as not to alert the kidnappers. In the statement ETSS said that they were now being assisted by Federal Security Agents in negotiating the release of Zainattudin. The security forces would confirm if the kidnappers had any connection to Marinho Gadhavi, the journalist who blew up the Engel Building in São Tiago on Monday, despite the apparent alignment of many of their goals, such as the dissolution of the Totzkan Union.

The Rambutan Company is one of the largest employers in Totzka with many of the company’s products, such as its ranges of smartphones and laptops, using lithium and other mineral products mined in Totzka. The company has a seat on the Council of National Resources, one of the nine Executive Sections of the Federal Government, giving them a direct line to the president and the kidnappers are likely relying on the Rambutan Company using its influence to with the federal government to secure the release of their founder and CEO.

February 21st 2019 | The Blakenham Telegraph | Royal Palace, Blakenham
Blakenham Parliament dissolved under sweeping new constitutional changes

Today the King has ordered the dissolution of Parliament under the Constitutional Reform Act 2019. Following the 2018 referendum called for by Parliament which asked voters whether they wanted a codified constitution, Parliament has been preparing to petition the King to dissolve itself.

Image
The Constitutional Council will sit in the Capital's Convention Centre.

Under the Constitutional Reform Act, legislative power will now be transferred to the Constitutional Council in which former MPs will sit and create new constitutional instruments for Blakenham. It is expected that lawmakers will aim to create new constitutional documents and create a new Parliament in order to create a more progressive and better functioning democracy. Framework for the new constitutional documents was voted for in Parliament last month to limit the time the temporary legislative body would be sovereign.

The Council will be limited to the end of March to complete the mammoth task of reforming the political system. At the end of March, powers will be transferred to the new parliamentary body. Economists had warned of the instability this temporary transfer of power would cause, however, last-minute amendments to the reform act mean that the King has a duty to monitor the progress of the council's work; and the King can decide to call an urgent referendum and consequently re-call the old Parliament.

The Office of the Prime Minister; who still retains executive powers until the formation of the new constitution in order to ensure the stable continuation of government said:
"This is an important milestone in our history. This country has been long overdue constitutional changes, and this unprecedented move will allow the legislature to wholly focus on these constitutional changes which would not be possible within the sitting parliament. "

Rambutan CEO Zainattudin kidnapped by Totzkan militants

Zainattudin, head of one of the largest tech companies in the Western Isles, was in São Tiago to give a talk about global business when a group of students abducted him

In a shocking turn of events, Suvurnian entrepreneur and businessman Iskandar Zainattudin has been abducted by a group of militants in São Tiago, the capital city of the Totzkan Union, where he was scheduled to present a speech to students in the faculty of commerce. The militants, who are believed to be a group of radicalised students, approached Zainattudin as though they wished to get an autograph before overpowering his security detail and escorting him to a vehicle in which they made their getaway. The kidnappers then made a call to the office of Verdade, a prominent media source in Totzka, where they illustrated a list of demands which included the withdrawal of all Suvurnian corporations from Totzka and the nationalisation of all of their industrial capital. They also made a list of political demands, including new elections in Totzka and for the inclusion of Tanah Merah in the Suvurnian government.

As can be expected, the response from the Suvurnian government was an unequivocal rejection of the demands. President Lukman bin Awang stated that Suvurnia "would not negotiate with terrorists who stand in utter opposition to our values". He stated that "Suvurnian companies should not be attacked by the actions of a bunch of terrorists" and that "As Suvurnia is a democratic state, we will not allow a group of extremists to overturn the democratic will of three million voters. Not that communists would know about democracy or the people's will". He announced that Suvurnia will cooperate with Totzkan authorities to get Zainattudin back, including potential military or police cooperation. The response of Rambutan was similar, with CFO Cut Tyuku bint Umar saying in a statement that the company is "fundamentally opposed to terrorism in all forms" and that the demands presented were "too steep to even warrant consideration".

The timing of the attack is suspect to many, however. This is largely in part due to two newspaper opinion articles. The first was by Marinho Gadhavi, a Totzkan journalist and terrorist, who perpetrated a suicide bombing after writing an article that called for the dissolution of the Totzkan Union and blamed much of the economic disparity in the nation on the presence of foreign companies, especially Suvurnian ones. This is assumed to have influenced the militants, who share many of the same goals as Gadhavi, though there is no concrete link between them yet. The second article, which followed days later, was a scathing critique of socialism by Suvurnian economist Nick Tanah. It is hypothesised that this blatant glorification of capitalism by a Suvurnian news source, despite the fact that the piece did not represent official state policy or the opinions of the SGMP, may have given a final justification for the militants to target a Suvurnian businessman instead of a local one.

Questions have also been raised over the potential of foreign involvement in the kidnapping, with the attack coming during a period of increased suport for communist movements by Thuzbekistan. Relations between Thuzbekistan and Suvurnia have been historically cold, with tensions arising out of ideological differences. Another sticking point has been Suvurnia's support for the Jamaat Ahle Tauhid movement, an international Islamic movement with a moderate following in Thuzbekistan who are known for their anti-socialist position, and Thuzbekistan's retaliatory support for the Syahiri movement, a socialist and shia group who committed several terrorist attacks in Suvurnia. With the Ahle Tauhid strengthening their political aspect recently, ties between the two countries have grown even futher apart. Due to the similarities between the agendas of the Totzkan militants and the Thuzkebistani government, many have suspected that there are ties between the two. Suvurnian Prime Minister Muhammad Azhar Suwardi warned Thuzbekistan that "any attempts to support violent terrorists, be it materially or ideologically, would be met with retaliatory measures", while Mufti Mengku Rahmani of the Ahle Tauhid Central Ulama called on Ahle Tauhid members to "resist socialist terror", reaffirming the calls made at their recent international meeting.

The search is now on for where the militants are hiding, with large police actions taking place in Totzka. The SEX, the major Suvurnian stock exchange, saw a sharp drop after the news broke as fears mounted not just over Rambutan but also other prominent Suvurnian businesses which operate in Totzka as they could also be at risk. Suvurnian Economic Minister Saifullah called for calm, urging a "patriotic stability" in the stock market. Whether this will come into fruition remains to be seen. The Suvurnian Travel Ministry has announced a travel warning for Totzka, while the embassy has increased its security.

DOMESTIC: Ainslie gets serious on biosecurity
Arnton, Ainslie

In an increasingly globalised world with faster transportation and reduced barriers, it appears that Ainslie is one of the few nations pursuing further regulation when it comes to trade and transport. New amendments to the Biosecurity Act 2015 passed in the Parlai today has introduced new, heavy sanctions to those who breach Ahnslen biosecurity laws.

According to the Ministry of Sustainability and the Future (MOSAF), there have been increased breaches of the Act, especially at Ainslie's airports and as tourism and immigration increases, flowing from Ainslie's diplomatic efforts, increased measures to protect Ainslie's ecosystem were deemed necessary.

MOSAF Chisholm today gave a speech on the issue in Hauton.

"As volumes of people coming inward to Ainslie increase, it is integral that we uphold the high standard of biodiversity and the high quality of the environment that we have. It is one of the major drawing cards for tourists and is something we are all proud of.

In these times, however, we must increase our efforts to protect this environment and that is why the ACEGAD-LLST Government are changing the penalties surrounding those who irresponsibly believe that they can illegally smuggle goods into Ainslie.

From now on, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials now reserve the power to deport or refuse entry to any non-Ahnslen citizen who attempts to enter with goods that contradict the standards we enforce under the Biosecurity Act 2015."

The Ahnslen Farmers Association (AFA) applauded the Government on this new legislation, stating that it will make "real change and ensure that the biodiversity and environment of Ainslie remains lush, secure and sustainable".

Meanwhile, economists have flagged this as a possible veiled form of protection with the strict new standards that could be interpreted as a move against the importation of agricultural goods and other natural products from overseas.

Amidst these increased powers, there are concerns that CBP will undergo racial profiling and other practices that could be seen as discriminatory. The CBP dismissed these comments saying that "there are certain groups that are particular offenders of the *Biosecurity Act 2015* and it would be completely naive to pursue political correctness in this situation and pretend like they do not perform crimes. They also stated that "many people do not understand the weight of what they are doing when they bring undeclared goods into Ainslie and it is time that the penalties are proportional with the offence in the eyes of the Ahnslen people".

Despite this being controversial in wider society, it is a bi-partisan bill with the Minority Party, United for Ainslie stating that they are in agreement with ACEGAD on this move as it is "a powerful and overdue move to protect the Ahnslen environment".

SPORT: Internationals impress and Daintree continues form as T20 returns to Ainslie
Mandara, Ainslie

With all teams but the expansion Tanahair Titans team facing off against one another in the T20 Max League, we have received our first insights as to who the players of the tournament could be and which teams are shaping up to be forces too be reckoned with. Welcome to the T20 Max League recap for Round 1 here on Arendai International. So, let's get into the games:

Friday Night gave us an Arnton derby with the Rapids facing the Wildfires. Rapids won the toss and elected to bowl, sending a struggling top three out after a runout and two batsman being clean bowled by left arm quick Cooper Fletcher. Alex Daintree (59 off 44), the captain of the Wildfires, came in at four and after a batting showcase in the Occupied Territories, offered another masterclass to bring the Wildfires to the respectable score of 151 at the end of 20 overs. Defensive batting from McKellar ensured that Daintree had stability at the end whilst Townsider batsman Honeysett failed to get off the mark, getting bowled by Xrevaran mystery spinner Jeremy Lerena. As Rapids Opener Jordan Ardale was trapped lbw for 14 by a somewhat average ball, it seemed as if the Wildfires may have made a par score. Dean Patterson then came in, offering a captain's knock of 32 off 27, allowing Julian Arundel to clear the rope on multiple occassions, getting 73 off 46 not out. After the wicket of the captain was taken, Kerr steered the team safely home within 19 overs to victory.

Sunday night gave us the Firewasps against the Anchors, with Norsan allrounder Marcus Nistoi valiantly batting his way to 63 not out in a courageous middle order stand with Jett Foster (32 off 24), the team's wicketkeeper. 146 was enough, with low scores from the Northerners leaving the Anchors all out on 130.

Monday night gave us the intriguing match between the Blaxland Explorers and the Rathane Seafarers with Townsider Darien Perry (43 off 33) teaming up with Norsan Joshua Stratton (63 off 42, not out) to guide the team to a score of 174. However, it was not enough against the powerhitting of Joss Steward (89 off 45 not out) and the desperately expansive batting of the other Seafarers, who chased it down within 20 overs in a last ball thriller.

It appears that the wicketkeeper batsmen are really standing up this year whilst the potency and prevalence of leg spinners is troubling many of the more conventional high scoring batsmen from Ainslie. As always, we will need to see more from everyone to be sure on claims like that. On that note, we’ll see you next week.

Iskandar Zainattudin released

Iskandar Zainattudin, who was taking hostage yesterday by a group of radical students, has been released after the Federal Government agreed to pay his kidnappers 4 billion ES$ [60m USD]. The Survurnian businessman was being held in the cellar of an abandoned hotel in the São Tiago’s Forte do Norte district, the address of which was given to the security forces following the ransom demand being paid. Federal Security Agents spent around thirty hours negotiating with the kidnappers, whose original demands included 6.4 Billion in Escuritas, the resignation of President Francisco Améro and the withdrawal of all Survurnian corporations from Totzka. After nearly a day of negotiations that kidnapper’s conditions were eventually reduced to just 4 billion ES$, which was delivered to an undisclosed location at midday today. Some commentators have criticised the government for not seeking a better price while others have questioned why Totzkan tax money was spent freeing a Survurnian citizen.

In joint press release Govind Sarvesh, director of Federal Security Central Headquarters, and Diogo Kishan Cruz, head of Estado São Tiago State Security, described the kidnappers as “radical” and “reckless” but “reasonable” during the negotiating process. Cruz stated that, with Zainattudin’s help, one of the kidnappers had been identified as Isaura Chaves, a 21 year old student of History at São Tiago University, as one of the kidnappers and the group’s “ringleader”. Sarvesh also stated they were looking for an Ivo Kaur (18), Rodolfo Patil (18), Mariano Ferro (19), Diana Garcia (20) and Hidayat Mendes (20) along with Doctor Jayant Celestino Coelho (41), a lecturer at the university, who were all confirmed suspects. According to the press release there were also two other kidnappers who have yet to be identified. All six of the students were members of the União Ilhan Nação [Ilhan Nation Union] a small political society, whose charter describes them as “dedicated to the promotion of the Ilhan nation”. According to their website the union has 120 members across various universities in South Totzka. Sarvesh promised that the security forces would now being doing more to protect high-status foreigners in Totzka and would be cracking down on radical and militant activity on university campuses.

A spokesperson for Zainattudin gave a statement to the press stating that the businessman was “shaken” by the events of the past two days but had not been harmed by his kidnappers and was “looking forward to returning to Survurnia.”

Camho Arhwnyeqh’s unimpressive Second Symphony leaves listeners disappointed

Qhómh, 1Ѧch li vabrareli · 1203 | 22 February 2019 – Many had looked forward to the closing event of Qhómh’s annual classical music festival Homhusoch pw Mwsíc mey Qhómhey (‘Winter Music in Qhómh’), which featured the world premiere of well-known contemporary composer Camho Arhwnyeqh’s Second Symphony, but they were left disappointed. After popular orchestral and choral works such as Arhwnyeqh’s complex and large-scale First Symphony of 2012 and her bombastic Choral Partita of 2017, it was expected that the composer would continue in this line, but the work performed tonight was extremely modest in comparison.

Lasting barely 20 minutes, Arhwnyeqh’s Second Symphony indeed forms a sharp contrast to its predecessor that has a duration of around 70 minutes. Unlike the First Symphony that prescribes an extremely large orchestra, the Second is scored for thirteen seemingly random instruments (two piccolos, a recorder, a bassoon, a tuba, a harp, a celesta, timpani, a violin, a viola, a guitar, a ukulele, and a kazoo), which play slow, ostinate melody lines, mostly in unison, and without a notable climax – unless the sudden breaks in melody can be counted as such.

The intial shock on the faces of spectators was replaced by disappointment and boredom after a few minutes. “This was… different”, one member of the audience told our reporter afterwards. “Not at all what I expected! It was like listening to a completely different composer!” “This was rather anticlimactic”, confirms another. “Ms Arhwnyeqh has built a certain reputation over the last couple of years; she didn’t live up to it tonight.” Others were milder in their opinion: “This proves that she is capable of writing more meditative pieces of music as well. Tonight she showed us something of her more intimate thoughts, I think. Based on the overall reactions by other specators I guess they think she should have kept these thoughts to herself.”

“Of course this symphony is different!”, explains Ms Arhwnyeqh herself. “I do try new things every once in a while. I felt that many of the things I wanted to express were drowning in the larger orchestral sounds. In my First Symphony it isn’t possible to distinguish any trees in the forest. Had they heard some of my recent chamber music, they would have known that music like this is possible when they encounter me. If they want to hear music like my First Symphony, they should go to a concert where my First Symphony is performed; it’s as simple as that!”

Camho Arhwnyeqh was born in 1975. Her breakthrough as a composer came in 1999 with her first orchestral piece Rusyta (‘Industry’), which remains a popular work today. Apart from her two symphonies, she has written concertos for solo instrument and orchestra, chamber music, and one opera Rumhedoch s Rubwch (‘Immortal and Hungry’).

Vibor concerned by Terrorism in New Totzka.

Saturday 23th February - report by Josef Swartz

This afternoon, the Viborian Minister of Defence spoke of the concern regarding the recent kidnapping of Iskandar Zainattudin in New Totzka, which lead to a long negotiation and stand off with police and security services. Minister Herbert Nadhya said that the event was concerning news from its regional neighbour and that questions were now being asked of New Totzka and it's internal security.

Minister Nadhya spoke to the press inside the Government Plaza in which he spoke of Vibors relations with New Totzka and that the agreements in place had neglected 'vital intelligence and security communications'. Vibor has been watching the kidnapping with interest and considered it a 'regional security risk' to allow such a crime to be committed.
The minister had confirmed in his conference that Vibor was taking measures to contact and liase with New Totzka of potential regional security risks and consider a regional security agreement to establish a wide safety net of intelligence and terrorist surveillance.

Closing his speech, Minister Hadhya said:

"The intelligence services of Vibor would consider it a necessity to enable the nations of Raedlon to gather and share intelligence which may detect threats of terrorism or risks to the public. The establishment of a regional security agreement would allow these nations to work together in ensuring that potential threats are identified, monitored and eliminated as necessary. I ask that New Totzka and fellow Raedlon nations join Vibor in providing a safe environment for its citizens to live".

THE DEATH OF A KINGDOM

Image

After the strife and uncertainty caused by political ambition and rampant self-aggrandisement, the country is returning to a state of calm. Nolon embankment is once again filled with businessmen, taxi drivers are on every corner, and the wafting smell of grease is emanating from the local chip shops once more. However, the state of play in politics was very much in the back of our minds, as after that fateful and tragic winter afternoon, it seemed that all facets of our political system closed themselves from the world.

While many were worried, anxiously waiting for what was coming next, others held onto hope. They were rewarded when, like his father, the nation's Prince Trystan announced from the palace gates what is being called the 'most ambitious change in Noronnican history'. It was clear that the nation's darling had matured, his face reflecting the panging at one's heart at a loss so tremendous as his. That of a grieving son.

With such a shock to the system, it is inevitable that change must occur, and that is exactly what was being presented by the Prince then. The proposal of a new republic, not one formed from fear as it had been in the eighties, but one formed from the sorrow and loss of the dying Overlordship, transformed into a bright prospect of the future.

It was no surprise that when general elections were suddenly held for leadership, Trystan's new movement sparked a sense of eagerness within us. He did not tire either, taking the last week to campaign around the country to earn newfound respect from the people of this nation. No longer a prince, but a visionary leader, he enjoyed a landslide victory, thus ushering Noronica into a new era of youthful politics. Disregarding the ridiculous machinations behind medieval lineages and their three-year-old kings, Trystan will be the nation's youngest Head of State at the age of 25.

The nation's new constitution is soon to be ratified, putting into place every new aspect of this new system. However, we now know about political appointments, including an entirely new cabinet. Akin to many of the other changes, this government shall have an entirely new name, the 'State Executive', which shall be led by Trystan who is to hold the office of First Prefect.

In a press conference within the palace, the newly inaugurated First Prefect had this to say:

"We have witnessed the demise of the old. It was inevitable, as the nation had been gripped by those who were too afraid to change. They watched as the world shifted around them, and chose instead to fight against it, choking the nation they were trusted to lead. Those dark days were rampant with the corrupt politics of those that chose to follow their interests, ruining the progress that this nation had made and killing its children to serve their own desire for power. We were all grasped by the searing pain of death, as we watched those we love fall victim to this tremendous crime. I stand before you now not as a politician, but as a grieving son. My father fought to preserve the dignity that we had earned over decades of reconstruction, yet his legacy was devastated and tarnished with blood as his enemies sought to murder him. We all felt the tear in our hearts as we heard the news of our greatest icon fall to a bullet. Now we stand precariously close to the edge of no return. We are afraid of our own shadows now, the trauma of our past too great to bear. I shall give you back your courage. I shall give you back your dignity. As many of our great institutions have fallen to the grip of failure and destitution, we shall fight on. We shall fight to regain ourselves once more. We shall fight, for it within our nature as Noronnicans to ensure our legacy is not dragged in the mud.

In the memory of my father, I vow that Noronica shall be a place of honesty, respect, competitiveness, virtue, and strength. We shall not fall back onto old ways but embrace our future. We as a people shall make it so that no other people in the Isles shall feel the pain of corrupt politicians and aged politics, but we shall shine as an example in the region. Noronica shall no longer merely be a domestic brand, it shall no longer be unsure of itself. We shall ensure that our culture is the finest quality, our produce is the one bought everywhere, our innovation is shown across the seas. We have deliberated too long, our crisis showed just yet another crack in the seams of the precarious balance that holds the Isles together. The Isles, akin to our politicians, have shown that caring for oneself is most important. We shall be the menders. When a child sees the red saltire, they shall know that peace has come to them.

Reconstruction shall be hard, and the road shall be rocky, but our nation has emerged from this brighter than it has before. In our minds we shall remember this phrase, 'Adh Dutchaichn Realas', a Nation Reborn.
"

Asked on the comments made by Thuzbekistan's Foreign Minister Malik's tweet last week, which called the late Overlord Tytus 'a cruel dictator with selfish intentions', the First Prefect told NMC News that he found the tweet to be 'in incredibly bad taste and saddening to be heard from a nation Noronica has enjoyed relatively positive relations with'.

DeBoer's Domestic Agenda Sidetracked by International Events

Image

JAMESPORT- Delivering a keynote address to the 2019 North Gael Business Symposium in Jamesport on Friday, President Annaliese DeBoer did her best to underscore the fundamental strength of the Michigonian economy, bolstered by positive signs of integration within the G4 framework. Pointing to stabilized stock markets, accelerated business investment, and rising exports, DeBoer's first economic speech as President lauded her Liberal predecessor, Morris Ward, who was a chief architect of G4 accession in 2017.

But to survey the mood of the room unveiled a lingering cloud of uncertainty, driven by fears of instability abroad. Indeed, some of the Symposium's most highly-attended sessions included topics such as "Risk and Opportunity in a New Noronica" and "Tackling Geopolitical Uncertainty in the Argean Region."

DeBoer's 2019 term as President was supposed to be one of burgeoning economic optimism as Michigonian markets became fully adapted into the G4, but conflicts throughout the region drove the Grottingon Bourse deep into bear territory from November to late January, reaching levels not seen since 2015.

DeBoer's first month in office was consumed with twin crises in Alteran and Noronica, as the Foreign Ministry monitored the unfolding, sometimes violent, political situations there. Also on her radar is the ongoing blockade of Illa Isle, where dozens of Michigonian aid workers have either been stranded or have determined to remain on the island to continue their work.

Sanctions Winding Down

One foreign issue has come to a close for DeBoer, however.

Last week, the targeted sanctions against the government of Saumdera, as well as the trade embargo against Thuzbekistan, quietly came to an end. Although popular at the time they were imposed last July, the sanctions were dropped as the National Assembly voted against renewal, 112-29.

This comes after DeBoer reportedly worked closely with the Samuderan government last fall to bring a SantonPec refinery to Enerah, for which she drew sharp criticism from members of her own party.

Canal Expansion Concluding

DeBoer may have plenty of opportunities to refocus on domestic issues in the approaching months. In April, construction crews at the Jamesport Canal will be completing a 9 year, $22 billion expansion project. While privately owned and operated, the canal project was largely a government-funded endeavor, as the projected increase in shipping traffic could impact the major ports in the Roggeveen Bay.

Political Tightrope

DeBoer and her Liberals will need to walk a fine line when promoting greater economic integration on Gael. The new centre-left majority coalition in the Assembly includes the Liberals along with the insurgent Progressives, and Labour, both of which contain anti-trade factions. The Liberals were the leaders in previous centre-right coalitions which paved the way for G4 accession in 2017.

Labour leader Rob Geary has threatened to pull out of the coalition if the Liberals do not get behind legislation for increased unemployment benefits. Liberal leaders in the Assembly have said they plan to work with Labour on the issue.

UNEMPLOYMENT RIOTS ROCK PORT CITY
Culawee capital, trading hub gripped by riots; protesters demanding work fill the streets; rubber bullet barrage leaves casualties

Protesters confront riot police during unemployment riots in Ballasolash, Culawee province, on February 25, 2019

BALLASOLASH (FBCA)- Thousands of former factory workers and vagrants today filled the streets of Ballasolash, the capital of Culawee province, in an Internet-organized protest over local and national unemployment levels that quickly degenerated into violent riots.

The "One Voice" protest, organized on social media and in the planning since December, was intended to demonstrate public dissatisfaction with the national unemployment level, which stood at 13.7% in the January economic report, as well as local anger at rising unemployment within and around former Culawee industrial zones that have been abandoned in recent years.

Protesters, however, were met with by stiff resistance from local police, who were deployed in the late morning with riot gear and spray cannons. As small groups of police and protesters clashed, a larger struggle began to take shape, with hundreds of demonstrators throwing rocks and plastic bottles filled with frozen water at the officers.

Ballasolash police chief Roger Persefone said that police responded to the "violent actions" of the demonstrators by firing tear gas into the crowd, and that the situation rapidly deteriorated, with a group of protesters overturning the armored tear gas truck and setting it ablaze.

"Police acted appropriately in the context of the situation. Officers were in legitimate fear of their physical safety and responded accordingly," Persefone told reporters. "As the confrontation between officers and protesters destabilized, city leadership decided to request aid from the provincial government."

Culawee Governor Julio Bennett (A) confirmed that units of the Culawee militia were deployed to Ballasolash in the late afternoon to assist in quelling the unrest and restoring peace to the city.

While many protesters had gone home, the group of several hundred that remained responded to the militia's arrival by pelting them with rocks and stones, according to eyewitnesses. Several businesses on Ballasolash's High Street were looted, while a nearby residential complex caught on fire. Responding emergency services further complicated matters, with firefighters struggling to pass through the thick crowds.

To force the firefighters' passage, the militia fired rubber bullets into the crowd, killing at least one and injuring thirteen at the latest count, according to Persefone. The fourteen casualties were eventually transported to Saint Natalie Medical Center, where they are receiving treatment.

The militia's volley finally broke up the crowds, according to Gov. Bennett, who said that "the protesters were induced to disperse peacefully, allowing city and provincial authorities to begin the clean-up process." Police made forty-seven arrests.

The organizer of the One Voice protest and the social media mastermind behind the planning and execution of the Ballasolash demonstration, Queensland resident Wallace Hammond, was unapologetic in a statement to media made at his home tonight.

"The people of Almorea demand jobs. We demand an end to this country's inexcusable jobless rate. We demand leaders who work actively to fix the economy. We demand a cure, not the band-aid of welfare that has been slapped on the wound so many times by so many bureaucrats."

KING IVAN I DAVARIUS AVAREȘTI, THE NEW KING OF ROENDAVAR
King Ivan I Davarius Avarești, dă nouă kairaci vi Roendavăria

Image
The Grand Court, the venue for the coronation

At 7 P.M. of February 25, 2019, Local Roendavarian time, King Ivan I Davarius Avarești was crowned King of the Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavar, and the states of Andavar, Sudever, Tillianan, and Vastaros, amidst mass celebrations all around the country, especially in the capital of Dociara City. A new era dawns upon Roendavar as a young King assumes the throne, one that promises to take Roendavar to a new path to glory. One of peace and unity.

But first to answer the question, who is our new King? King Ivan I was born Ivan Alexandru Coastăs Avarești, his patron God Coastari, the Protacist God of Celebrations, and it couldn't be more fitting for the young prince. He was born amidst the celebration of Unification Day, a day which comemmorates the unification of the four states of Roendavar to form the country that it is now today. At a very young age, he was outgoing and eccentric. A very cheerful child, he often snuck outside the palace to play in the woods, where he would often get lost and not be found till the dead of night. When he reached his highschool years, he was known as having a "wild personality", often going out at parties. This attitude was not befitting of a prince, and he was drawn flak by the media and often criticized for his insensitive remarks. Most famously, he called the past Archbishop of Tillianan a "b**ch, even God would kick you out of heaven" for telling him that homosexuality was a sin and he did not deserve to be King. He entered the Royal University of Roendavar, studying Political Science just like his father, but chose to go a different route and focused more on culture and literature.

His loud and flamboyant personality is well-known across the world. He would often criticize other leaders and would say things not typical of royalty. However, all of that changed back in November 25 of 2018 when the late King Vladimir IV died. As the next King of Roendavar, he released a statement apologizing for "all his misbehaviors" and he has promised to "be a better person for Roendavar". A few weeks ago, he was caught in a diplomatic mishap as the government of Roendavar was criticized for its stance on the Sawneeak Atoll Dispute, with others accusing the country of "fanning the flames to a dispute being resolved peacefully". This has dealt a severe blow to the Roendavarian government, however, the Crown Prince promised that it would not happen again.

Despite his reputation, he is regarded as a sweet, caring, and smart person on a personal level. Like his father, he was constantly seen around the city, often without bodyguards, mingling with the citizens. Sometimes, people would see him in some small cafe somewhere in Dociara, casually chatting with friends and studying. Like the past monarchs of Roendavar, he didn't see himself as someone greater. Rather, he acted like he was just a normal person.

Now, the Crown Prince has been crowned King Ivan I Davarius Avarești, his patron God switching to Davaren, the Protacist God of Reality and Space. He was crowned in front of the Grand Court at around 7 P.M. in front of a crowd estimated to number at around a million. The mood was generally joyful, with Roendavarians celebrating throughout the streets and cheering whenever the procession of the Crown Prince passed their vicinity.

As per tradition, the four presidents presented the relics to the King, with the same order done since the unification of Roendavar. Ithoraugoros Manius, the main figurehead of Protacism, carried out the coronation. After the coronation, instead of shouting dragoi, the people chose to call the new King, flori, meaning flower. This makes King Ivan the first to bear the title. Along with the other members of the royal family and local ruling families, several foreign heads of state, representatives, were also invited and attended the coronation, mainly:

  • Ahnslen Prime Minister Andrew Kenzai
  • The exiled Royal Family of Balnik, which has resided in Roendavar for more than half a century
  • Samuderan President Justuva Susanto
  • An unnamed prince from Norstham
  • Suvurnian President Tuan Yang Terutama Teuku Lukman bin Awang al Hajji
  • Prime Minister of Vibor Abdiel Kashua
  • Cosian Vice President Angeline Corina
  • The Foreign Minister of Athara Magarat

Because of the importance of the event, both the ARSF and the RRG were deployed all around Dociara in order to combat any threats directed at the King or any of the heads of state in attendance. According to official reports, no threatening activities happened during the event and that Dociara was safe and there was no need for alarm.

The recent coronation was recevied generally positive by the populace. Majority of Roendavarians responded that they had high hopes for the new King and believes he could take them to a new era of Roendavar. However, some still remain dubious of the King, considering his past reputation. The Grand Court supported the positive majority, releasing a statement that vouched for the new King's qualifications for the role.

There is no denying that this is one of Roendavar's truly historic moments. As a young King ascends to the Roendavarian throne, challenging the traditions and ideals of the nation, the nation faces one of its greatest opportunities in the recent years. Can the new King lead Roendavar to greatness once more? Only the future can tell of Roendavar's fate.

DOMESTIC: New teaching hospital to open in Wesland
Highland Ridge, Ainslie

Today alongside local and electoral health departments, federal infrastructure minister Riley McKinley announced the opening of a new teaching hospital in Highland Ridge which will become known as Woodside Hospital. It is a private and public hospital, with a large unit devoted to teaching new medical graduates coming from the growing central-north regions of Ainslie. It compliments an increasingly sophisticated ambulance network based in Highland Ridge which now has an expanded air ambulance unit.

McKinley expressed her enthusiasm for the completion of the A2.4 billion project which is expected to be the largest hospital in Upper Wesland.

“This marks the day where the gap between rural and urban infrastructure lessens. Although this hospital is well and truly in a city, Highland Ridge is a hub for rural Ainslie and is one of the largest settlements with a strong agricultural base.”

Braving the cold weather that has begun to set on Ainslie, Andrew Kenzai personally extended his congratulations to the workers who have been constructing this world-class hospital for many months. In a nod to the efforts of officials in Upper Wesland in managing the recent Buzz epidemic, a new drugs response unit, specifically targeted at young adults has employed mainly from within the local area.

Wesland Rural Development Minister Jacob Zenaire was also at the opening, where he showed his gratitude for the federal government and its continuing commitment to rural areas such as Highland Ridge.

“These areas are the cities, the urban areas, the lifeblood of tomorrow - Kenzai and his government have very much acknowledged this and we look forward to continued friendly collaboration with the federal government.”

Additionally, there is an educational element to the new hospital, with the complex becoming the main training hospital for Upper Wesland University, which made headlines due to its Social Media major in memes, which was labelled as “unprofessional and unbecoming of a young, emerging tertiary education institution”. Upper Wesland University will have access to the latest technology and techniques, with a significant upskilling of medical personality in the region expected in the coming years.

The hospital will begin formal operations at the start of next week, and they will receive their first intake of students at the start of next month.

SPORT: Middle order batsmen impress as chronic weakness to leg spin haunts teams
Arnton, Ainslie

Round Two was full of surprises as a group of players really showed their value to their teams. Middle order fightbacks from Honeysett (Wildfires) and Harbenda (Titans) came alongside relatively poor performances from the batting groups of these teams overall. Whilst many of the 3s and 4s of the tournament continue to struggle, the openers and middle order batsmen continue to impress.

Round Two brought us an Arnton v Mandara match, with the Firewasps comfortably winning off the back of Riyadi's two wickets and a 91 off Ahmad Shah. The Rapids won the toss, deciding to bat first with Arundel hitting 52 off 30 and Gillison 54 off 39. However, Gillison's late stand was not enough to prevent the heroics of Shah's impressive innings. Leg spin continued to be the feature of the tournament, with four wickets out of ten being taken by the bowling style.

The Wildfires faced up against the Explorers, winning the toss and choosing the Explorers to bat. Stratton's innings (63 off 50) ensured a reasonable score with Perry (26 off 23) and Renwick (15 off 20) chipping in. 2 wickets each from Honeysett and McKellar ensured that only Stratton was able to find his rhythm at the KCG. The Explorers posted 135 but the reply was Alistair Chef's 32 off 21 and another magical Daintree innings in which he posted 50 not out at a strike rate above 200. This strike rate was almost matched by Dand Honeysett's vital innings of 31 off 16 at the end which sped up the win and prevented the lower order from having to bad for an extended innings.

Harbenda's impressive 56 off 29 sealed a quick, although at times uncertain, victory against the Arboran Anchors whose openers (Kohler at 43 off 35 and Stransfield at 39 off 29) helped to provide a score of 156. Samatai's three wickets pegged back the innings, making their overall RPO only 7.80. In reply was solid performances from the top order and Harbenda's half century. Rendall snagged two wickets and Lewin two stumpings but it just wasn't enough as Harbenda took the ground by storm.

That's all for this week. We'll see you next week for another Arendai Roundup.

PM Lacerda visits indigenous villages in the east of Messejana,
announcing "plans to demarcate new indigenous zones"

Image
PM Paulo Lacerda visiting the native Marians of the village of Caçarola

Today in this Tuesday, February 26th, Prime Minister Paulo Lacerda traveled through the countryside of the Messejanan province to meet the chieftains, or Pajés, of 14 indigenous villages that live inside the municipality of Tucano Azul, one of the most largest and non-urbanized municipalities of Dragão do Mar. It was the first time in the Marian history that a head of government personally visited the tribes of the Tucano Azul region. The head of government relied on the renowned Marian anthropologist and translator, Ricardo Milho, to talk to the natives of the region, that speak a number of eight different languages.

"In this afternoon, I'm traveling with a reliable staff to the municipality of Tucano Azul. There, I will have the opportunity to talk to 14 influential Pajés of the municipality to listen to their demands and complains. Dragão do Mar owes much of its culture, national identity and habits to our indigenous peoples, and they are a symbol of resistance for all of us" said Paulo Lacerda to our reporter in the morning.

"I thank the welcoming people of Tucano Azul for our productive meeting, and I swear that I'll be on the side of the native peoples to guarantee the protection of their constitutional rights as Marian citizens by demarcating the land where they live" said the Prime Minister hours later at the end of the day, back in the city of Messejana.

The fight of the indigenous peoples of Tucano Azul to get their land demarcated is not recent. The tribes of the region have claimed a big portion of the municipality back in the 50's, when the mining company Campinas Company established its first extraction fields in the east of the province of Messejana. The natives of Tucano Azul initially impeded the workers of the company to cut down the trees and dig the land with mining machines, but a change of legislation in the 60's gave full permission to Campinas to enter in the dense woods to extract the raw materials.

After the Potiguara Massacre in the 80's, a conflict between indigenous tribes and miners which resulted in the death of 61 persons in the south of Messejana, the Marian population mobilized a series of rallies and manifestations against the violations of territories firstly inhabited by the indigenous. Since then, the government of Dragão do Mar decreed the demarcation of 37 indigenous reserves in the Marian territory in 26 municipalities, but none in the municipality of Tucano Azul.

Since the 60's Tucano Azul has the most productive mining field of Dragão do Mar, the Fodosí Mine, a main source of iron, cooper and niobium. According to several researchers, the municipality of Tucano Azul still have some of the largest mineral deposits of Messejana, and possibly of Dragão do Mar, as the regions wasn't fully explored yet. Most pro-indigenous movements claim that this factor is the main reason for fact that Tucano Azul didn't got any indigenous reserve during its history, and some even say that Marian politicians receive bribery from entrepreneurs of the mining industry.

Shareholders of Campinas Company have expressed dissatisfaction with the possibility of demarcation of a new indigenous reserve in Tucano Azul. "During the decades, other municipalities have lost great potential of mineral extraction after the establishment of native zones", said the economist Romeu Gema, "Campinas Company still don't know the exact location of other mineral deposits in Tucano Azul, and if such a measure be approved, we might never discover what treasures the dense vegetation hides". Tonight, Campinas Company ended the day with a negative balance of financial actions at -0,73%.

THUZBEK PRIME MINISTER MAKES VISIT TO BRULAFI CULTURAL SITES, GENERAL ASSEMBLY

TURBAY- A new chapter in the history between the People's Republic of Brulafi and its closest ally has now begun with the state visit by Prime Minister of Thuzbekistan, Alaattin Cihangir, to our great nation. Thuzbekistan and Brulafi have had a long and storied relationship since 1954 with the establishment of the United Central Communist Republics; through feast and through famine, the two nations had stuck by each other's side until the dissolution of the pact in 1994. The two nations remained somewhat estranged after that, but this is changing under the new administration of Comrade Cihangir and the assumption of the State Presidency by Comrade Paul Watson. Overtures were made in the closing months of last year to establish the framework for a bilateral meeting between the heads of state, and the final plan—including a Thuzbek visit to Brulafi in February and a Brulafi visit to Thuzbekistan later in May. Now, this framework is finally being realized with Comrade Cihangir's arrival in Turbay late last week.

On the first day of Comrade Cihangir's visit, he met with his counterpart and visited multiple sites around the nation. Many of these sites were memorials, including the 30th Parallel War memorial in Turbay and the International Cosmonautics Institute Memorial in Dudleytown (pictured), where cosmonauts from both Brulafi and Thuzbekistan trained side-by-side in another era. After these memorials, on the night of the first day, Comrade Cihangir was a surprise guest at the General Assembly, presiding over the closing of the daily session of the Assembly at large. On the second and penultimate day, the Thuzbek head of state returned to the General Assembly to deliver a speech regarding the shared past, present, and future of the two nations. From there, after a tour of Collective Farm #7 north of Drayton, the two Comrades made their way to a secluded former resort near Wells to begin proper negotiations. There, the two Socialist leaders hammered out the groundwork for the next round of talks in Thuzbekistan in May. Other topics discussed at the old hotel included the security of the people's economies of the two nations and the future of shared Socialism in the twenty-first century. On the final day, before Comrade Cihangir flew out to his home nation, the Prime Minsiter was treated to a military revue of forces at Fort Overlook and a performance of the Brulafi Revolutionary Defence Forces Band. Said State President Paul Watson of the talks:
This round of talks between myself on behalf of the people of Brulafi and Comrade Cihangir on behalf of the Thuzbek people [has been]... a watershed moment in the history of our two great peoples. Together, our nations have been through much strife and hardship. It is only through the Hurculean efforts of our people in a combined effort that the United Central Communist Republics managed to make it through... It is this energy of mutual friendship and cooperative hard work that we wish to continue and improve into the future and to harness in order to make both of our nations stronger in the face of any adversity to come.

Third Dock Worker Dies of Hornet Caused Injuries
2/26/19

Yesterday, the Turvin Ghada Port Authority announced that two workers had died and one more had been injured after an incident with infected hornets from Athara Magarat. Hours ago, the third worker died in a sudden cardiac arrest.

"We are saddened to announce the death of the third Hornet victim in Thuzbekistan," the Port Authority said in an official statement. "Together with the men who died on the scene, these three are victims of a parasitic fungas known as Ophiocordyceps magaratis. We will be mounting an investigation as to how these hornets were allowed on board the ship."

The infected Yak Maruwa Hornets have killed at least 50 people in Athara Magarat in under 2 weeks. The fungus, which originated there, infects the hornet, making it more aggressive. Scientists have so far been baffled by the event and are attempting to find both cures and containment methods. As of today, the Foreign Ministry announced, Thuzbek scientists will be joining the effort.

"What we have witnessed today is a result of the international community's failure to take the Yak Maruwa Hornet threat seriously. Our scientists at the University of Ashluv and the University of Baslov will be working to understand the effects and cures to the fungus. We have also summoned the Athara Magarati ambassador to begin discussions about how Thuzbekistan can help our friends overcome this new threat as well as to begin an investigation into the transport of these hornets to Thuzbekistan."

As more people are likely dying in Athara Magarat, some in Parliament are wondering why we didn't offer a hand earlier.

"We have an obligation to protect the workers of our nation," a Center Socialist MP said. "This means helping those in other nations as well. This administration's slow response is the direct cause of those dock workers' deaths."

This is a developing story and Thuzbek State News will follow it.

TSS Ashluv Gets the Axe
2-26-19

After many rumors, the fate of the TSS Ashluv was sealed this morning: she will be decommissioned by the end of the year.

This comes as Parliament passed the FY2019 budget and parts of it were made public. The TSS Ashluv will be decommissioned by the end of the year. It's assets, like the Harut fighters that it equipped, and personnel will be dispersed throughout the Navy to fill a manpower gap. While many in Parliament welcome the news, the Navy was rather unhappy.

"We are very disappointed that this went through," Arda Rıdvan, Minister of the Navy, said in a statement. "We in the Navy fully believe that the Ashluv is a capable vessel that fills a large gap in our ability to project our forces across the region. We will be submitting new plans for a carrier in the coming weeks."

However, many in Parliament disagreed with the Minister of the Navy.

"The vessel was simply obsolete," a Conservative MP said on his website. "There are much better ways to project force than to use a carrier which, by design, limited its fighters' capabilities and failed to match our rivals' capabilities. Between this and the cost of maintaining the aging vessel, we cannot justify continuing its use."

The Navy does plan to hold onto its assets, though. They will be kept in Navy/Air Bases in Barshlon and Baslov as is usually done when the Ashluv is under maintenance.

Prime Minister Cihangir Returns from Brulafi
2-26-19

Prime Minister Cihangir has returned home from his trip to Brulafi, a former UCCR ally. As his plane landed at Ashluv International Airport, the Palace released the following statment:

I have just arrived home from Brulafi, a nation of great and noble people who honor and protect their workers. I was shown their great monuments and reminders of our nations' close history. Just as in 1954 and throughout the UCCR's history, the peoples of Brulafi and Thuzbekistan are similar in interest and bound by friendship across the Southern Sea. Our two nations are bound by the blood spilled in conflicts now long past. That bond cannot be broken by any force in the world. This trip showed that in many ways. I look forward to meeting the President in May.

While on the trip, the two leaders' staffs began negotiations of a renewed bilateral mutual assistance treaty. It is suspected that this treaty may bare much of the same language as the UCCR treaty did, though it may not be as binding as the UCCR was.

"After the Orsandian Civil War," an analyst at the University of Ashluv said in an interview, "the Cihangir administration is looking for friends across the seas to gain support against an increasingly aggressive Gaeltic alliance. Brulafi, one of the founding nations of the UCCR, is a the most logical choice."

The next state visit will be in mid-May when President Paul Watson travels to Ashluv.

Above: Catholic priests salute for the cameras before offering mass to the Jimenean rebels during the 1913 Revolution.

Minority leaders in the College of Confederates Accuse Hearn Lucas Canone of Embracing Fascist Ideoligies in San Jimenez.

Other Headlines:
The Hearnity: Canone makes visits to military bases across the country, welcoming volunteers.
College of Confederates: Confederates pass increased military spending in response to influx of recruits.

Gran Teran, March 1, 2019

|"Nothing more than a fascist".||S.J.|
This morning, at about 7:00 am, leaders from the Leonite, Deaconate, and The Protestant Delegation Party, made a claim against the Hearn and his policies that invoked much controversy within the chambers of the College of Confederates. Rience Majella, minority leader of the Leonite party, in coalition with the leaders of the Protestant Delegation and Deaconate parties, issued a short statement/condemnation against Hearn Canone.

"Hearn Lucas Canone, judging by recent legislation, has blatantly embraced the ideology of fascism. This man, who has promised to give Jimeneans their pride, ambitions, and bravery back to them through the work of the Guadalupana party, is nothing more than a fascist."

After Confederate Majella's opening statement, those in the chamber erupted with outrage and anger towards the minority parties. Currently, the Guadalupana party outnumbers the minority parties combined by 223-78 confederates. This gives parties, like the Leonites, to recognize that the College of Confederates is run by nothing more than one party and enables San Jimenez to be an indirect one-party state. Confederate Majella continued with grievances against the Hearn.

"This year alone, the Hearn has called for volunteers, military spending, and has not yet ceased to show the nation our military through parades in the streets of Gran Teran. For what reason do we need these volunteers? We are not at war, there is no threat to us, although the Hearn would have you believe we do. Canone claims this to be a defensive move yet that claim is absurdity. This is an attempt to build an army that is able to keep his regime and his party in political power by toppling insurrections against it. He has used the previous war to invoke fear into the commoner and give 'reason' for military spending. Canone and his party have also begun campaigns against minority parties like my own by publishing ads smearing our ambitions and running programs that weaken our base. One party should not be leading the nation. Its outrageous and complete failure. The powder keg that makes this claim of fascism being at work is the recent legislation that has made the 'Roman Salute' the official salute of our armed forces. What more evidence do you need besides this? There is little to no difference between the Roman Salute and the Francoist, Nazi salute used during the darkest chapters of human history. Lucas Canone is allowing fascist tendency to grow in our own country and you members of the College of Confederates are doing nothing to stop it. You've betrayed your own people and you've abandoned the concept of government being a servant of the people. It's time for the nation to act now.

Despite Majella's claims of "betrayal against the Jimenean people", Hearn Canone's approval rating rests at 82% while the Guadalupana's approval rating sits at 65%. During the formation of the College of Confederates, districts were established and each district chose 6 representatives to send to the college. The districts chose through the votes of the citizens who lived in these areas. Political opponents of Majella have stated that this is nothing more than an attempt to undermine the district system in San Jimenez and have labeled Rience Majella the real enemy of the people. We were able to question the Hearn during his walk to the National Defense Agency.

GTG Reporter: "Hearn Canone, do you deny the claims of being a 'fascist' and embracing 'fascist' ideologies? As well, do your policies, in your own view, resemble Nazi or Falange views?

Hearn Canone: "I completely deny having any connection to Nazism or any Nazi ideology. I myself am not in any way an anti-semitic man nor have I had or do have any belief in the inferiority of other nation's peoples. Under my administration, San Jimenez is opening its doors to foreign nations and has no desire in provoking violence and problems with them. My policies are Jimenean and purely Catholic. Nothing more, nothing less.

GTG Reporter: "So then, what is the basis for having made the Roman Salute a compulsory salute in the Jimenean armed forces?"

Hearn Canone: "My basis for doing so is from the inspiration of the men of 1913 who used the salute. During their own war against dictatorship in San Jimenez, the men of 1913, both Protestant and Catholic, toppled a regime who persecuted those of the faith of Jesus Christ. In their honor, my administration has continued the tradition of the Roman Salute. Although it does resemble fascist regimes of the past, it has an even bigger significance to those here in San Jimenez who view it in a much more positive light."

GTG Reporter: "Last question sir, how will you work with the college after these recent accusations?"

Hearn Canone: "I will continue working with the Jimenean people and if the minority leaders cannot put aside their own prejudice against the Guadalupana party then it will be up to the Jimenean people to vote them out in the next election in two years."

GTG Reporter: "Thank you for your time, sir."

The Hearn never denied himself being a 'fascist' but only denied Nazism and the claims that he had any sympathy to Nazism. A rift has developed within the College of Confederates as confederates take action to either defend the Hearn or condemn him. Hearn Canone seems confident in his promises and appears to think very little about the recent accusations. Church leaders have not yet commented on the matter and many question whether or not the Church will take the side of the Guadalupana party, the party who sought to protect the Church in the recent civil war against Republican loyalists. Only time will tell how the people of the nation will view the situation, which will more than likely be influenced by how their bishops view it.

That is currently all the news we have for you here in Gran Teran. Thank you for choosing the Gran Teran Gazette. Have a good night, San Jimenez!

School Shootings Becoming Worringly Common
Ever since the shooting at Greenleaf High School Febuary 24th, the number of school shootings have increased. Currently 200 students of all ages have been killed and 350 have been injured. Schools across the nation are going to be closed next week for safety reasons. According to the police, most of the people involved in the shootings call themselves "Modernists". We have compiled clips of what these people have said as they were being arrested.
"Enchanta is weak! Modernize Enchanta! "Pacifism must die!" "This ####### country can go #### itself!

For the sake of our readers, we only used the least vulgar clips. Many people think these "Modernists" are terrorists or that they are mentally insane. Luckily all of the school shooters have been put in prison. Now, while The Political Enchanti tries to stay as unbiased as possible, we can say this. Obviously anyone who doesn't love this amazing country has problems.

If you were involved in one of the shootings and would like for us to add in your story, email us at Political.Enchanti@ebox.com

Athara Magarat and Kachee ready for the Sultanate to join French Charbagnia

NEW LIBANG

The Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates and the Sultanate of Kachee are both ready for the latter to join the French Republic of Charbagnia; the Magarati Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rim Garbuja, said after returning from the coronation ceremony of King Ivan I Davarius Avarești, the new king of Roendavar.

"We are of the belief that Kachee as an independent state would not be recognized by rest of the Isles. The Magarati government is sure that our plans for Kachee to seek League membership will be shot down after what our Ambassador to the League reported." Mrs Garbuja said in a press conference.

Another way of handling the Kachee situation was by having the Sultanate join the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates. Recent surveys indicated, however, that most Magarati citizens were opposed to the idea.

"The Isles still hate us. We are still the imperialist scums. We are still seen as a terrorist state that goes around funding armed communist or Isles Native insurgents. Annexing Kachee, even if they are the ones who propose it, will just add more fuel to the fire." Engineering student Arvind Senchuri, 19, said when asked by the Herald why he was opposed to the idea of Kachee joining Athara Magarat as the newest hangate. His friend Sang Yonghang agreed with him. "How else does one explain continued refusals by the MSTO to renew the Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty? Why do almost every country in the Isles have a Magarati Plan, including that of our close friends in Domanania to nuke us if we ever do anything wrong? I generally do not agree with Jrm Hangma's administration but handing Kachee to French Republic of Charbagnia is the best solution."

Meanwhile New Libang police officer Milan Tamang, 29, joked. "We will have to rename ourselves as Eunnais Magarat (19 Mgar Lands) if Kachee join us. Everyone will have a headache when that happens."

On the other hand, political analyst Joseph Phagami said that this idea was suggested to prevent a war that Athara Magarat might lose. "Ever since it became independent, the French Republic of Charbagnia has been rapidly militarizing. Both Jrm Hangma and the Kachee Sultan know this. The Sultanate has no army of its own. It relies on Athara Magarat and Noronica for defense. Noronica is not in the best shape at the moment. Athara Magarat itself has one of the weakest military in the Isles as it is bounded by severe limitations of the Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty. The French Republic of Charbagnia has since its existence, professed the desire to unite Charbagnia through any means; including war. If it declares war on Kachee, the Dormill-Stiuraians and most of the Isles will support it as most of them already recognize it while only Athara Magarat and Noronica recognize Kachee. Athara Magarat will not even reach Kachee on time to defend the Sultanate. The war would be over before it starts. I believe the real reason why the Jrm Hangma administration and the Sultan are keen on Kachee joining the French Republic is to prevent a disastrous war."

"Both Athara Magarat and Kachee are ready for talks with our counterparts in Dormill and Stiura and the French Republic of Charbagnia. We are inviting Noronnicans and other interested parties as well for the talks." Mrs Garbuja said. "We are seeking special autonomous status for Kachee within the French Republic of Charbagnia and hope that we can all agree to a peaceful solution."
