The End Of Treason And Tyranny

Image
PM Joshua McIntosh's Address
After the arguments, protests and riots, the tension within the country of Noronica finally comes to an end. The Overlord of Noronica has been commanded to declare his abdication before the 20th January next year, where he shall stand accused of treason against the country and constitution in a Supreme Court trial. It has been concluded that his actions on the 22nd October, entering the Federal Assembly's chambers without the consent of the Assembly, goes against constitutional law.

The spokesperson for the Constitutional Court, (which resides in the Supreme Court) Harry McGloughny, gave the official declaration this morning at 9:32. It confirmed that the Overlord's actions were found to be unlawful and against constitutional procedure, therefore he would stand trial on the 20th January.

Due to the nature of the trial and the accusations, the Overlord has been ordered to submit his letter of resignation before the date of the trial.

Some believed it would be war, others thought it would be total anarchy, but a triumphant Prime Minister gave his address to the Federal Assembly today, marking the end of this tumultuous period in modern Noronnican memory. In an act of humility, the Prime Minister made his address from a podium on the lower stand of the chamber's dais, refusing to sit on the Speaker's chair. This, he stated, was because of his belief that he is not a figure to be deified but a Noronnican citizen. This fact was widely celebrated by supporters, who hailed this act as something that shows the 'humility of a true leader'.

Prime Minister Joshua McIntosh reiterated the ruling of the Supreme Court by issuing the Government's own demands:

"[...] Therefore the Government and Federal Assembly do hereby demand under constitutional law that the Overlord submits his letter of abdication so that he may stand trial before the Supreme Court before the twentieth of January of two-thousand and nineteen. Naturally, he shall revoke all command of any military units currently under his control, due to his position of Commander-in-Chief being revoked."

This comes after weeks of silence after the Prime Minister's demand that the Overlord relinquishes his command over the 31st Infantry Brigade. While no movements have been noted in the Sessux Isle, there has been no response to this prior demand. Upon speaking to a wide variety of Federal Assemblymen, the general consensus that the NMC gathered was that the Overlord will have no choice but to go ahead and agree with the Prime Minister's renewed demands. The war of words is finished.

Addressing comments made by foreign officials, the Prime Minister also had this to say:

"It does sadden me that our staunch ally Wellsia has taken such an adverse reaction to the current events in Noronica. I would hope that they recognise that this is not defamation or aggression towards the monarchy, it is treating an average citizen with the same fair access to justice that any would receive. In the eyes of the law, no one is favoured. To the Government of Razzgriz, thankfully there is no longer any need for peacekeeping as the division within Noronica is finally at an end. Finally, to all of those watching the situation in Noronica with interest, I reflect a similar message, Noronica is back to normal and should be treated as such."

So far, no comments have been made on Arván, only that the Prime Minister is 'pleased to see that the situation has de-escalated'.

Talks of succession have begun, with the heir apparent HRH Prince Trystan set to become the new Overlord under the new Monarchy Act 2018. This is likely to occur in February, after the trial of the current Overlord.

Speaking with Malcolm Schmitt, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, he had this remark:

"Surely this is the best Christmas present the Prime Minister, and indeed the country, could have asked for."

The Accords of Reclamation
The Council has enacted the following law, which is hereby proclaimed with the assent of the King, it having been established that the requirements for a constitutional amendment have been fulfilled:

Article 1- Laws enacted by the government of Pretoria may deviate from the constitution as long as they do not affect the institutions of the Council. The rights of the King remain unaffected.

Article 2- Laws enacted by the government shall be issued by the Chancellor and announced in the Greater Pretoria News(GPN). They shall take effect on the day following the announcement, unless they prescribe a different date.

Article 3- This law enters into force on the day of its proclamation. It expires on December 19, 2019; it expires furthermore if the present government is replaced by another.

The Pretorian Accords

The above document is an amendment to the Pretorian Constitution that gives the Pretorian leadership — in effect, Chancellor Oliver Von König and Arbiter Ryan Von König— the power to enact laws without the involvement of the Imperial Council. The Accords give the König's plenary powers and followed on the heels of the Imperial Fire Decree, which have abolished most civil liberties and transferred state powers to the Pretorian government. The combined effect of the two laws has transformed the König's government into a legal dictatorship.

The act has passed the Imperial Council and was signed by his majesty Alexander William later that day. The accords state that it is to last four years unless renewed by the Imperial Council.

The law was enacted by the Imperial Council in Alverton, where non-Loyalist members were surrounded and threatened by members of the PSF and Pretorian Guard. The PLF and Freedom Party had already been repressed and were not allowed to be present or to vote, and some Social Democrats were kept away as well. In the end, most of those present voted for the act, except for the Social Democrats, who voted against it.
Democracy is dead, we have nothing else to say.
That is all, from the Peoples News, stay strong comrades, remain free.

2018 Argus Crisis

By Toko Faera | RTK

Image

Entering into the 3rd day of the recent unprovoked blockade of the Territory of Ytoria & Unovi by Athara Magarat the government has continued to maintain a state of emergency in the region. The military has imposed a strict no-fly zone around the territory aimed at Athara Magarat and has begun mobilizing local Astratii Forces towards the Unovi-Magarati border as the nation prepares for Airlift supplies in order to get around the blockade. The territory's coastal defenses have also been placed on high alert and ships in the area limited to patrolling the Osean Coastline as the crisis continues.

Task Force Komi, the contingent from the Southern Sea Fleet the government sent to break the blockade, was ordered to halt its advance just short of the Gatadpatigan Sea Blockade late last night, and await the arrival of Task Forces Shanti and Lema, which were dispatched towards the region earlier this morning. This all following recent threats of "World War 3" from the Ruios League delegation, which have lead both the Razz's Council and Fouzen to speculate the ongoing and already controversial military exercise in the I.D. hosted by Vancouvia and Ruios may be held for other reasons. Neither nation has attempted to reach out to nor address the Magarati Government's rouge actions, but instead have taken Polar Svalbard sudden naval presence in the region with much more concern. However the greatest alarm came from the Vancouvian Delegation's failure to acknowledge the Osean Territory or the San Montagna Coastline within the region.
Image

On top of it all, official statements from the Athara Magarati's Government site "The conservation of marine wildlife" as the reason for their extreme actions.

"Marine wildlife conservation does not start with the use of military force, nor does it start by interfering with international trade! The Dorei merely seek to start a useless conflict based on false and idiotic claims. We did not give up the territory during the Imperial War nor 30th Parallel War and we certainly won't cede it now. The Dorei aren't even the majority in the territory yet they believe they have the right to lay claim to what was rightfully handed over to us. I honestly have no other words to describe the recent actions of the Dorei other than reckless and childish. It is high time for the Dorei to realize that their days of imperial glory have come to an end just as ours have." Sonnur Dagim, the Barhèn of Muruk-Sul had to comment on the matter.

So far, most nations outside of the newly formed VACES Alliance, while not officially siding with the GPR have openly condemned the actions of Athara Magarat and have also called for an end to the blockade. Though mounting international pressure has managed to force the Magarati Government to lift its blockade of the Mechi Sea, the Gatadpatigan Sea however, remains blockaded further confirming Osean suspicions. Fearing that Athara Magarat is attempting to recklessly start a war leveraging the VACES Alliance for assistance the GPR has also begun meeting with members of the League to impose sanctions on the Magarati government.

In other news, the situation in Menna Shuli has begun to escalate as well with the reports of a recent rebel raid on the main League relief camp in the country. There have been no reports of death among the Osean Peacekeeping force sent to the region who were present during the attack, though 2 Astrati were wounded during the confusion that ensued. The incident hasn't managed to garner too much of the GPR's attention in the wake of the Gatadpatigan Crisis, however the government has stated that the Peacekeeping force in Menna Shuli will remain and that it will be working closely with its counter-parts over in the country to ensure the safety of both Osean and Mennan lives.

Breaking Story: President Dyson calls the National Congress back to session to address the international situation
Image
The President moments before making his address

By: Ellery Ackerman

Today marks an important day in Dormill-Stiuraian politics, this is the first time President Dyson had called on the National Congress to assemble while it was out of session. In a somber address to the nation, he outlined the situation in the Isles, making note of the most recent events and where he stands with regards to each. As the address went on, and the more the weight of the situation became clear, the more serious his tone became. The recent events in Noronica, Vancouvia, the International District, Menna Shuli, Thuzbekistan, Gresswell Island, and Swaneeak Atoll had created a new crisis in the Isles, the Winter of Discontent. The full address reads as follows:

Friends, Republikeinen, Dormill-Stiuraians, lend me your ears. The situation in the Isles has changed dramatically over the past few days. I know as much as the rest of you that the timing could not be worse in the face of impending Christmas celebrations, but the machinations of the political world cares not for the holidays we so cherish. As many of you may well know, the situation in our northern neighbor, the Overlordship of Noronica, has been deteriorating at a rate most frightening to the administration. The conflict between the Prime Minister and his Overlord has overshadowed Noronnican politics, and has infected the governments of the rest of the Isles, as they are all now primed for seemingly inevitable conflicts. In Bezrus Oda, the International District, the Vancouvians, Rouians, and Magaratis have committed themselves to displaying their power over one of the greatest testaments to international cooperation. The League of the Western Isles has attempted to respond to this situation, unfortunately, debates have been stalled and the writing is on the wall that there are lines being drawn in the sand, die are being cast. In Gresswell Island, Thuzbekistan again shows it is unwilling to cooperate with the international community by withdrawing itself unilaterally from an agreement that protected the island's sovereignty and nature as free from international conflict. In the Swaneeak Atoll, Vancouvia again shows that it desires more than what it has by "offering" payments for the surrender of the islands claimed by the many other nations present there, an offer which the United Republics declines. In Menna Shuli, their recent catastrophe, though receiving plenty of international aid, has not stopped vile elements from attacking those who had dedicated the lives of many men and women to aiding the Mennan people. We are all fortunate in their case, that not many have died, but it is a tragedy of the highest order nonetheless that people died, were brutally murdered, only because they saw it in their hearts to help those who were so hurt by this disaster.

Therefore, in light of these situations and others, by the powers vested in me by the Constitution of the United Republics of Dormill and Stiura, I, Cedar Mark Dyson, President of the United Republics of Dormill and Stiura, hereby Call the National Congress of Dormill and Stiura to assemble in One Week for a period of no more than Six Weeks, in the Interest of the United Republics to address and respond to recent these developments. For Freedom, For Unity, For Our Republics.

Shortly following the 12:30 PM address, the Speaker of the Forum, Garret Davidson, had responded in his own address in his Courlaroux home, acknowledging and accepting the President's call to reassemble and calling on the remaining members of the Forum to accept the call in turn.

The Opposition Leaders in both the Council, Robrecht Lémieux, Republic of Avillon, and the Forum, Marijn Savege, have also stated that they acknowledged and accepted the President's call, and are preparing to depart for Courlaroux.

As stated by the President in his address, the National Congress shall reconvene in one week, on the 27th of December, and will remain in session for no longer than six weeks, overlapping the time when the National Congress would normally reassemble for next year's session. When asked about this later, the President went on to state "The National Congress will be given the chance for an early recess next year in response to being called in so close to Christmas. Regardless of what they do about that, this call is critical to the nation, we need a unified response to these situations and that can only happen while the iron is still hot, so to speak. There was no other way around this."

At the moment, there have been no objections to this call, the Dispatch will update this story as it progresses.

Flooding hits Big Island

Image

A damaged car is seen on a flooded bridge near Covestsule.

An estimated 9 people have died this week after heavy rainfalls led to flooding on the southern tip of the Ostregali big island near the city of Covestsule. Ostregali officials say that seven of the people had died of drowning and two more when medical teams were unable to reach them.

Hundreds of citizens have been evacuated from flooded houses and tall buildings threatened by rising water levels. Around 10,000 rescuers and 1,000 soldiers have been deployed to help.

"We're in a bad situation, but we have it under control," says Darko Živanović, a council member in the city of Dolj, a town of around 30,000. "Currently, the water is not a threat, but there's always the possibility of another flood, so everybody is still worried."

Most of the damage affected the rural areas to the north of the Covestsule city centre. However, damage is still expected to cost tens of millions of dollars.

The Red Cross and other charities have begun raising funds to help with the relief efforts. So far, they have raised around $350,000.

"If everybody pitched in and gave just a small amount of their money, we could cover a huge part of the costs," says Míra Emberovics, a paramedic working for the Red Cross. "We have faith that we can raise enough money to do that."

Tensions escalate further as Magarati army is deployed to Unovi border; Magarati officials now say there is no 'blockade'

Image

NEW LIBANG

The 2018 Central Argus Crisis has further escalated after Osean troops were deployed by Razzgriz and Magarati soldiers lined alongside the Unovi and Yitoria border in retaliation. Razzgriz's Task Force Komi, the contingent from the Southern Sea Fleet the government sent to break the so-called blockade, was ordered to halt its advance just short of the northwestern Gatadpatigan Sea late last night and await the arrival of Task Forces Shanti and Lema, which were dispatched towards the region earlier this morning. Political analysts say that all this points out that the Jrm Hangma gambit was to force Oseans and San Montagnans (who have yet to officially respond to this crisis but San Montagnan ships have been spotted performing patrols) into this position.

Meanwhile, Athara Magarati officials are now saying that there is "no blockade" in the Gatadpatigan Sea. The official Magarati line has been, "We are deploying our forces on territorial waters that are rightfully ours; which just happen to be also claimed by the nations of Razzgriz and San Montagna through illegal occupation of Unovi and Yitoria, and Chatha and Jaring (Terra-Nuova) respectively."

Sonnur Dagim, the Barhèn of Muruk-Sul, had earlier commented that, "Marine wildlife conservation does not start with the use of military force, nor does it start by interfering with international trade! It is high time for the Dorei to realize that their days of imperial glory have come to an end just as ours have."

Image
The Khas-Kirat Empire was called Dorei Frartom by people of Tachil

In response Jrm Hangma had to say, "The people of Tachil should know that the territory they call Unovi and Yitoria was gifted to their prince by Moktan Hang of the Second Tamsaling Hangate to allow his blood brother a place within the Khas-Kirat Empire; what they refer to as Dorei Frartom. Tachil obtained an elector status and received huge trade benefits and access to advanced medicine, mathematics, shipbuilding, astronomy and better gunpowder weapons through that position. Today, they have shown their gratitude to us by still illegally occupying Magarati territory and being adamant that they won't hand it back to the rightful claimants. They cite Imperial War and the 30th Parallel War. We will cite that the agreement was between Second Tamsaling Hangate and Hanagte of Tachil - yes, Hangate of Tachil - to allow the later a place within the Khas-Kirat Empire. The Khas-Kirat Empire does not exist anymore, neither does the Hangate of Tachil. However, the Second Tamsaling Hangate still exists as a constituent member of the Athara Magarati federation of hangates. Thus, Second Tamsaling Hangate, and its mother nation Athara Magarat, are the rightful claimants of Unovi and Yitoria; not the Osean pretenders who illegally occupy it."

Word on the Second Fleet arrives

The Second Fleet was recently heavily involved in what is going down in the International District, and word from the government states that it still is.

The Second Fleet participated in what the government is calling a Freedom of Navigation Operation in which the Svalbardian government stated that it is the right of any nation to be able to sail its ships through waters so long as it is in transit. This maritime law is important as without it many straits and shipping lanes would be inaccessible or at least take much more time and money to transit. With the recent increased presence of Vancouvian and Ruiosian naval vessels and an actual blockade by Athara Magarati ships in the western straits, the Svalbardian government took a hard stance and the second fleet was sent back through the area ahead of time from when it normally would have.

The transit went well with minimal incident. In the Eastern straits the transit was communicated well with Vancouvian ships in the area and no incident happened, the interactions being cited as cordial. We have learned though that the fleet did separate with a task force of two destroyers and three frigates sailed through the Western straits. No major interactions between Svalbardian ships and Athara Magarati ships occurred with only minor incidents due to how many ships were in the area. We are told though that the ships are currently stopped in the Osean port of Unovi to both strengthen relations between Polar Svalbard and Razzgriz and, we are told, as a reward for how they handled exercises in the Southern Sea. Along with that the government is sending some diplomats and military personnel by air to have talks with Osean governmental figures.

It is unknown how Athara Magarat will react to this as the nation considers the port of Unovi to be under Osean control illegally.

Reformist JC killed in protests
Kevara, Keverai

Today is a sad and frightening day for Keverai. Edarde Gallare, a Judicial Council of Keverai judge known for his passion for equality and logical reasoning, has been killed today in protests in Central Southport. The protests, which have recently turned violent, have only been in the city for one week and the police appear to be intent on quelling the Southport protests before they escalate.

But they got someone in the middle instead.

JC Gallare was walking along the pathway as he saw protesters painting on cardboard, and decided to walk over towards them in order to discuss their concerns with them. At this point the Keveraite Federal Police begin to shoot warning shots at the protesters who were talking to Gallare.

This was followed by police officers confronting JC Gallare, who questioned as to why the police were breaking up peaceful demonstration (which is what it was at the time, until protests turned violent) and was quickly tasered by many officers. He then suffered a heart attack and died in the ambulance on route to the hospital.

A distant sense of hope has been vapourised, the general trend we are receiving from Keveraite citizens who were interviewed. The death of a Judicial Council Judge who advocated for reform of the constitution being killed due to what can only be called excessive force has further launched Keverai into the darkness.

The prosperity that Keverai has embodied as faded further today, as stock markets deteriorated significantly as investors move their money away from Keverai. This money may not ever come back to Keverai. The Keveraite reliance on the financial services industry will come into full realisation in the coming days, as various banks and law firms come to terms with the lost income due to social unrest in the nation.

Gallare shall be remembered as a bold man, someone who was working in the best interests of Keveraites. There will be a state funeral for him, but there are no reports of an investigation into the policeman being ordered.

The funeral will be held in Kevara Gardens three days from now.

WARS OF WORDS BRING NO JOY THIS HOLIDAY
As officials jet off on vacation and Congress prepares to leave capital, state of world affairs leaves many worried

Image
The Guardian of the Republic keeps watch outside Carldon Hall in this December 2018 photo

ELLSBURGH (FBCA)- The winter solstice today brings cheer to many across Almorea, as Nyssic traditionalist societies and town officials organize communal dinners, dances, and children's celebrations. Families around the country have begun to decorate Christmas trees, and online retailers have been hassled to keep up with the volume of gift orders.

For members of the Almorean government, however, the 2018 holiday season is not bringing much cheer.

President Alasdair Hallowell left Ellsburgh today in his state jet, heading for his mother's family home in Cidade de Caio, New Arván province; he was observed to wear an expression of consternation as he pored at his desk over plans for a pipeline to Totzka. Secretary of State Kirk Thurson remained in his office all day today, the blinds pulled over the windows, and refused to speak to reporters. Trade Secretary Donald Hauke has been worried recently, according to sources, that the trade deal he negotiated with Athara Magarat in November could be thrown out the window.

The 454 members of Congress, due to depart the capital when the legislature adjourns on December 23, have begun to sneak out early; when procedural business was transacted today, party whips had a difficult time rounding up enough congressmen to reach a quorum. With the Budget Authorization Act signed by the President on Wednesday, funding the government until April 2020, there seems to be little else to do for Congress except to watch and wait for the clock to run out.

The cause of the malaise that has thus settled over federal officials is not hard to find. Recent developments around the world have shaken Almorean foreign policy and rattled diplomatic and military leaders; even the markets are starting to slide towards the Christmas holiday.

The ongoing multilateral dispute over the International District looks set to continue into 2019. The Hallowell administration on Thursday declared its tentative support for Polar Svalbard, which has dispatched a portion of its navy to assert international freedom of navigation rights in the face of a strong Magarati presence in the Gatadpatigan Sea.

"Almorea stands behind Polar Svalbard in its support for the rights of all nations to enjoy free movement on the open water", the statement from the State Department said. "Deescalation and diplomatic engagement in all aspects of this crisis are absolutely necessary at the present moment."

Multiple sources within the foreign-policy apparatus say that, if a shooting war breaks out between Athara Magarat and Razzgriz over the Osean Territory, then the AMRETA trade deal, negotiated between Almorea and Athara Magarat in November, might be put on ice and President Hallowell's planned visit to New Libang in January scrapped.

Another source of worry for the government is the recent turn of events in Noronica; there, the Constitutional Court, derided by many Almorean observers as a "kangaroo court", has ordered Overlord Tytus I to abdicate by late January in order to stand trial. The court decree represents a significant victory for Prime Minister Joshua McIntosh in his lengthy struggle for power with the Overlord, and has sent intense waves of anxiety rippling through not only the Hallowell administration but also through Dormill and Stiura, where the national legislature has been called into emergency session.

Open civil war in Noronica will push Almorea even farther towards its two neighbors, Totzka and Dragão do Mar, according to many analysts. The crises in Central Argus and the risk of Noronnican chaos "will disrupt international trade and upend the relatively stable international order", according to Walter Whitlam, a former State Department employee who now works at the Center for Strategic Studies in Seavale. "It would hardly be surprising to see this administration begin to reevaluate how it approaches international engagement in a new, more dangerous world."

International affairs are not the only source of headaches for the government as 2018 crawls to a close. On December 19, a grand jury in the Federal District issued three sealed indictments in connection to the Transportation Department embezzlement case, to be opened on January 4, the day that Congress reassembles after the Christmas recess. Legal analysts say that one of the indictments is likely to name Transportation Secretary Maisie MacDougall. Criminal charges would no doubt lead to impeachment of MacDougall by Congress; the Inspector General may be sealing the indictments in order to allow for impeachment, according to a source in Congress.

President Hallowell has not publicly spoken on the investigation since it began in early November. MacDougall showed up to work today as usual, but she must surely be aware of the questions swirling around possible criminal charges against her.

As 2018 enters its final 11 days, there are many in the government who must be praying to ring in the New Year.

San Montagna Reinforces border with Athara Magarat, PM says San Montagna will not give up an inch of land

4 days after the Beginning of the Illegal Athara Magarati of Porto Alberto and the Razzgrizzi territory of Ytoria and Unova, San Montagna finally responded to the Athara Magarati provocation, the official response was preceded by The deployment of additional San Montagnan soldiers to the border shared with Athara Magarat. The Exact number of Soldiers now stationned at the border is unclear, but what is known is that several elite San Montagnan Alpini brigades were included in the force sent to the border. The Air force has been placed on high alert as well.

A few hours later, early in the afternoon, Prime Minister Giorgio Cavallo made an official statement on the matter, in which he mainly discussed safety Precautions and stating that that Chatha and Terra-Nuova are integral parts of the San Montagnan state. The Speech ended with Cavallo simply stating that "San Montagna will not give up an inch of land. While some praised Cavallo for not backing down in the face of Athara Magarati Agression, others said that he didn't do enough, including opposition leader Benito Franco, who stated: "While it is good that he stood his ground, he did nothing to end the blockade. He should act and show the region that San Montagna doesn't back down, hopefully by getting those Yak-Blood drinkers out of the water by any means necessary."

The Athara Magarati Blockade is now on its 4th day, with no signs of stopping, all the while Athara Magarat retains its narrative that San Montagna and Razzgrizz are illegally occupying its rightful land. There are concerns on how Christmas celebrations in Porto Alberto and the surrounding areas will be affected by the Athara Magarati Hostilities, as the City has been on high alert since the beginning of the Blockade. If the crisis continues, many armed forces members, many of which were to be at home with their families on Christmas, will instead be spending it in a military base.

The Prima Divisione takes its Christmas Break

The final Prima Divisione games were played today, with Chyo-Bang FC earning a 1-0 victory over Fiumara, Sabazio Prevailing over San Luca 2-1, and in a joyful moment for a city in a bleak time, Porto Alberto prevailed over Palmanova in a 3-2 victory. With these final matches accounted for, Sabazio, led by star forward Mario Beretta, retains its first place position, while Chyo-Bang advanced to Second place following their victory over Fiumara. Experts predict another league title for another league title for Sabazio, but none could have predicted Giovanni Vetteli performance during the first half of the Season, the 20 year old scored 16 goals and propelled Palmanova to the third position in the League. Prima divisione matches will return in January.

Breaking News: Execution of the Crimson Scars leadership in the city of Petram

Earlier in the week, just hours after the Reclamation, members of the Bureau of Homeland Security, National Police and PSF, under the leadership of Arbiter Ryan Von König, stormed an abandoned warehouse in the City of Petram around 21:00. The infiltration lasted a mere 9 minutes with no injuries on our side and the entire known Scar leadership executed via firing squad by order of the Arbiter. The "Red Death" has been confirmed to be among the group that was executed.
During a press release after the infiltration the Arbiter said this,

"The events unfolded just as we planned. Infiltrate, locate, eliminate."

When asked about how they originally found out the location, he said this,

"Well it was mainly thanks to the Bureau. They tapped the phones of every person in the rejoins most likely for them to hideout since we recently stormed their previous location last week. We were forced cease those operations because of multiple complaints from the locals of "disturbing the silence" and "invasion of privacy", but now that we have more freedom to operate due to the Fire Decree, it was just a matter of time."

Many people are protesting that tapping phones is a breach of privacy, but the Decree has rendered those complaints irrelevant. The execution has caused massive discontent because no trial was performed, but since then a report was released stating that the Crimson Scars has killed a total of 693,014 people in their 12 years of attacks and constant terror, has also silenced those complaints.
Times are looking good for the future Greater Pretoria.
That is all from Greater Pretoria News with your host, Sara Huber.

INTERNATIONAL: Parlai motions to deploy Peacekeepers in Keverai
Arnton, Ainslie

Following increasing unrest in Keverai, particularly in its capital, Kevara, the Parlai of Ainslie consented to the deployment of 200 ARSF personnel to compliment local forces in restoring peace to the capital city. Kevara, known for its status as an international city of business and tourism, has recently been under an increased state of conflict following the escalation of protests near the city centre.

These protests are as a result of the recent Keverai leaks, where the vast inequality and unethical activity of Kevaran business has provided definitive evidence for the discontent working classes to campaign for more rights. Revelations of sweatshops and illegal conduct by businesses has empowered a generation, known as the “emerging generation”, to look to other economically advanced democracies and compare Keverai to them. This same generation voted for Renaut, and the growing unrest has launched the uneasy leader into a dilemma.

Following a recent speech from a Corporal in the Kevaran Police to the Ahnslen Parlai, the government has been poised to act. In recent days, the Judicial Council of Keverai has taken steps to limit the democratic power of the elected government and other political parties in an effort to quell unrest. Ainslie, as a nation with the longest lasting Judicial Council in The Western Isles, has been pressured to intervene in order to reach a compromise that involves the installation of an Ahnslen-style democratic system in the nation. Deputy Prime Minister Wilton has expressed his strong objection to the establishment of a Keveraite government in this form, stating that it could look like “a puppet state” or “hegemonic and imperial actions which are contradictory to our beliefs and values”.

The increasing pressure on the Parlai to act has reached a climax, as the idea of ARSF Peacekeepers in the nation received a majority in the government today after a free vote was announced on the matter.

Minister of National Security, Patrick Carboni today released the following statement.
“We stand with Keverai - the people, the democratically elected government. Certain checks and balances to democratic governments should remain, but the actions of the Keveraite Judicial Council have exceeded the point of being acceptable. The growing unrest, in the government’s opinion, is due to the legislature’s greed for power in this instance - something that does not and has not happened in Ainslie. As such, we offer a deal to the democratically elected Keveraite Government. We shall send 200 peacekeepers at a minimum to restore peace and order to the nation on the condition that the concerns of the protesters are heard in a moderate and peaceful manner with the spirit of democracy as a major undertone of the talks.”

The statement has escalated protests in Kevara, with the Judicial Council of Keverai stating that it was “gasoline to a fire already big enough” as they condemned the actions of the Defence Minister.

PM Andrew Kenzai today told the press that the wording was “not ideal but he agreed with the general sentiment of the statement”. Chief Consul Renaut has declined the opportunity to provide a statement.

DOMESTIC: Smugglers apprehended following Buzz investigations
Arnton, Ainslie

Following successful joint-investigations by intelligence agencies and the federal police, drawing on their international networks, three smugglers were sentenced to between 20 years and life in prison for their role in the Buzz epidemic. Vincent Gortez, a Ruiosian at birth who also holds an Ahnslen citizenship, Ahnslen Kurtis Ambrose and Samuderan Jaya Paratuan. The three were the co-leaders and the facilitators of distribution networks which supplied much of Arlanah and Western Wesland with the drug “Buzz”, an illicit crystal methamphetamine which generated an international response.

Investigations carried on for months yet the three men have been on remand for two months months in a Weslander prison before today’s decision in the Ahnslen Federal Court in Anertah. The three were charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of an illicit drug. Despite formal, albeit not public opposition to the move from the Samuderan and Ruiosian Governments, they are to be entirely handled within the Electoral Corrections Systems of Ainslie under the oversight of the Federal Government.

Arendai spoke to a law and public policy professor from the University of Arnton surrounding this recent development.

”It is a very strong indicator of how intolerant Ainslie is of transnational crime, especially that of such a widespread and destructive nature as we saw with the Buzz epidemic. Thankfully, ,it appears that that has passed Ainslie and the investigations are reaping results. This is only the conclusion from one of several raids in various locations within Ainslie and we also know as a fact that the Federal Government is also working with its Gaelitic allies and those further afield in order to ensure justice.”

She then went on to explain a nuance in Ahnslen criminal law which could very much apply to the Buzz epidemic:
”Well there is this section in Ainslie’s criminal law which allows citizens of Ainslie as well as non-citizens of Ainslie to be convicted in special circumstances of crimes they did not commit within the Unified Electorates. Of course, this is and has prior been overruled and nullified by legal principles which ensure people do not go through the criminal justice system twice for the same criminal act if there are no appeals involved. As I mentioned before, there have been many investigations into both Ahnslen citizens and non-citizens and we will all be waiting to see the results of this.

The Revire family whose daughter died as a result of the Buzz trade whilst her brother watched on traumatised, released a statement today around the arrests hoping that it led to justice and to more information and knowledge surrounding such blatant and reckless criminal acts of such a wide nature.

Deputy Prime Minister Wilton, one of the first to respond to the Revire death praised the Courts for an effective judge-only trial and commended the Revire family for “their consistent courage, bravery and restraint around what was a horrific and disturbing time”. Judicial-General Joseph Shirazi also echoed Wilton’s sentiments highlighting that the ability of the Courts to efficiently deliver justice and fairness had to be recognised, acknowledged and appreciated.

The three men who have been convicted are to be transported to jails from their remand centres in the coming days.

Keverai Government: Exposed

Violence and looting has become standard in some neighbourhoods of Kevara, as protests escalate amidst the execution of extreme measures by the Keveraite Government - but this last point is not completely accurate or representative of the reality in politics in the small, affluent nation.

The elected government of Keverai, led by Chief Consul Burnell Renaut, has been blamed for the incidents of recent times, when in fact it is an institution that has been in force for decades which authorised these measures. Keverai’s Government does not function similarly to other democracies such as Norstham, Polar Svalbard or Dragao Do Mar, or even like its previous rulers, Ainslie.

Keverai has a Judicial Council. Not like the one in Xrevaro, or the one in Samudera, or the one in Ainslie. Although its roots are in Ainslie, Keverai opted for a less democratic approach with its Judicial Council than even its former ruler.

In Keverai, the Judicial Council picks Chief Consul candidates and vets their choices for other important roles in the government. This has mainly attributed to the classic status quo, the relative stability, that Keverai has experienced for many years. Recent protests have been against the handling of the leaks, but it has further multiplied and grown stronger into a movement for a more democratic society. Inequality is strong in Keverai, and is mainly not talked about. Following the leaks and the Judicial Council of Keverai’s conduct which has been said to be “crossing the line” creates a serious dilemma for the democratic government. The Isles Review is not here to report or comment about that right now, or encourage or discourage the concept of Judicial Councils in Keverai. In our spirit of independence and objectivity, we are here merely to document what the Judicial Council in Keverai has done. They have:

  1. Turned Keverai into a de facto one party state due to clear bias towards the now banned Argus Conservatives party, directly intervening in elections up until the most recent one.
  2. Been greatly underestimating the vote counts of rural Keverai up until the election before the one Renaut won.
  3. Ordered heavily armed police to break up protesters at ‘the roundabout’
  4. Attempted to extradite Chris Revire on treason charges which would not stand in a court of law. This was stopped by Renaut before it become official.
  5. Used their power to vet Consuls in order to enable corrupt behaviour by the Judicial Council judges
  6. Intervened in the operation of lower courts in a way that would solely advantage the JCK
  7. Created and maintained agencies that actively worked against the Keveraite Constitution.

This is in addition to the various practices the Judicial Council of Keverai knowingly allowed that were unveiled in the leaks. We are not here to comment or incite rebellion. Our board of directors unanimously voted for this issue to be reported on, despite large resistance within the organisation. To finish, here is a quote from current Chief Consul Renaut, during his election campaign last year in response to criticism around starting his election campaign so early.

“I break protocol, break tradition, because that’s what society needs at times. The esmerging generation, the leading Keveraites of the future are calling for a leader who is not a carbon copy of the last one. I certainly hope to be a unique leader, one who does what he needs to in order to benefit the nation. I care about people far more than protocols and traditions.”

Powerful words in difficult times.

Fishing sector set to expand
Image

The great council has announced that in light of our continued requirement to ration food, resolving this issue has been deemed the highest priority. Southern Council leader Curstaidh MacDonald came forth announcing the plans to invest our resources into this project, stating:
"We have been far too focused on growing our food, on agriculture. We are surrounded by ocean, our naval borders are vast. We need to capitalise on this, and turn our attention from our island outward in all aspects, not just politically. Creating small fleets of fishing vessels is within our power, and those who yet await employment, or have been unable to find it, may aid their great nation is finally ending its most basic struggle."

The number of fishermen has been tentatively stated to be set to increase by up to 4,000 during the year of 2019 as many of our unemployed are given a proper task, training while the construction of the vessels begins.

Navigating the world stage
The powers at play in the Isles we inhabit are in a state of turmoil, with protests, riots and governmental collapse rampant beyond our stable shores. In light of not only this, but the extreme tensions built between nations, our great Arbiter Aindreas McAlpine has sought assurances of peace. In this he has succeeded, affirming positive relations with the northern nation of Kotelia, and even signing a pact of Non-aggression with the more distant Balnik. Sadly, he could not be reached for comment on this matter as his great work has kept him busy, but we at the Eraevan truth are thankful for his service nonetheless in helping maintain a peaceful state within the eastern region of the Isles.

Eppendorf-Adelaar @ Mala 3 - 0
Launey vs Stuieren Hal 2 - 1

Courlaroux vs Chery 1 - 2
Zuid-Kapolder @ Helle 2 - 2
Enoire vs Waalwijk 3 - 3

Week 2 of the Union League 2018-19 Season eases us into what should be expected of Football for the rest of the Season, with current front-runners Kapolder City, Rattenberg, Boissieux, Launey, and Eppendorf-Adelaar expected to stay close to the top. Other top teams such as Kapolder-ElektroBedrijf, Dormill Union, Veldzicht, and Courlaroux are expected to remain out of the top for another week, with preseason injuries keeping their top players from the field.
Rattenberg FC 2 - 0 Borey FC @ Lukas Monet Jr. Memorial Stadium, Borey
Attendance: 5,630

Borey’s luck did not last them into Sunday as they faced off against a confident and rested Rattenberg. This confidence, however, plagued the squad as the team would be shown four yellows throughout the game, the first as soon as 2 minutes in. Aside that, the game was a slow and brutal affair for both teams, with the first goal scored by 60’. The defense of both teams is commendable but this concession by Borey again at home turned the crowd against them, leading to a second Rattenberg goal being scored at 83’, securing them the game.

Boissieux FC 1 - 0 Vroomenstadt FC @ Arena of Boissieux, Boissieux
Attendance: 65,145

Another slow match for Sunday night as Boissieux and Vroomenstadt kept up a shooting match that was halted by their top goalkeepers time and time again. Still kept close to their seats by each possibility of another goal as strikers from both teams constantly broke through, the audience was consistently shown the ability of their opponents goalkeepers. Boissieux managed to get a lucky corner kick goal past Vroomenstadt’s reserve goalkeeper at 70’, all but ending the game then and there.

Eppendorf-Adelaar FC 3 - 0 Mala FC @ Three Rivers Stadium, Mala
Attendance: 2,060

If there could be anything said about Mala’s current record, they certainly keep up with the theme of threes in defeat as Eppendorf-Adelaar comes in and spends Sunday night thrashing the defense of Mala. By the end of it, Mala again loses, and again concedes three goals at home, putting the career of coach Théophile Favager in question, and arraying nearly all of Mala’s fans against him.

Launey FC 2 - 1 Stiura Hall FC @ Stade sur la Rivière, Launey
Attendance: 50,371

The Torches vs. the Sons of the Revolution, a fun game was bound to happen as soon as Stiura Hall’s XI pulled up in Launey Central Station, much to the jubiliation (or rioting, this author is not entirely sure) of those in the station. The atmosphere on the river, where fans are typically seen tailgating or watching the game on the screens facing outside of the stadium, was palpable as the game began, opening with a very strong offense from Stiura Hall, with their striker already testing the goalkeeper by 6’. No perturbed by a strong defense, Stiura Hall took little time to return and make an actual goal by 12’, silencing the home side of the stadium, before spontaneously breaking out in the State Anthem of Avillon, an unofficial team song for most teams based out of Avillon. With the stadium on their side, the squad of Launey rallied and fought Stiura Hall tooth and nail for each offense for the remainder of the half, followed by a goal of their own at 50’. Not content with a tie, Launey again drove into Stiura Hall’s defense over the next twenty minutes and again scored at 76’, and kept up the fight up until the game ended, a stirring victory for the Torches.

Ringoven FC 1 - 3 Dormill Union FC @ Arena of Boissieux, Boissieux
Attendance: 65,500

Ringoven can’t seem to find their footing in the early parts of this season as they head out to the Arena of Boissieux only to find a well prepared Dormill Union ready and waiting to show them how football is played. In trying to show their opponents that they were ready, Ringoven’s XI played extremely aggressively, earning them two early yellows before Dormill Union used this instability to earn a goal at 34’, which was responded by expletives from Ringoven’s striker, who also recieved a yellow card for his efforts. After Ringoven’s coach, Abraham Benjaminson, intervened to handle his rowdy team, Ringoven played a much tighter game, remaining agressive but not attracting the ire of the refs. This came to benefit them as after a defensive tackle by Ringoven, Dormill Union’s striker in anger attempted to fight the defender, and after being shown a yellow, argued with the ref, earning him a red card and was sent off for the rest of the game. The loss of Union’s striker and the confusion of the situation allowed Ringoven to finally score, but this victory would be short-lived as it didn’t take long for Dormill Union to recompose itself and score again, then again, bringing up the score 3 - 1 against Ringoven. In extra time, Ringoven’s striker got in a fight with Union’s right midfielder, earning him a red card. Both players apologized after the game, citing the tense and aggressive atmosphere for their actions. The Association has taken no action against either player, saying in a statement that their genuine apologies were sufficent.

Kapolder-ElektroBedrijf FC 3 - 0 Viares FC @ ElektroBedrijf Stadium, Kapolder
Attendance: 55,289

Another major upset this week as visiting Viares is unable to face the noise in ElektroBedrijf Stadium. Kapolder-ElektroBedrijf, on the other hand, quickly asserted its dominance with an early goal at 22’. This goal did not come without some challenge, as Viares’ goalkeeper had one of his best games this season, saving four on target kicks in total. The remainder of the game was much the same, with Kapolder-ElektroBedrijf adding two more goals to their total for the night.

Veldzicht FC 2 - 2 Vlagberg AC @ Stiura Southern Rail Co. Stadium, Vlagberg
Attendance: 12,211

In a repetition of their last week, Vlagberg held their own against the top team of last season in a fashion that surprised everybody. Opening an early weakness in Veldzicht’s left side as #3 Egbert Michuard came too far forward, giving Vlagberg an easy way to a 2’ goal. Shaken by this extremely early goal, Veldzicht attempted to shape themselves up, eventually giving Davie Low, assisted by Wouter Taylor, a chance to score their own goal by 23’. The rest of the half, and most of the rest of the game was a contest in midfield between the two teams, with Veldzicht’s defense oreintated 3-4-3 back formation keeping Vlagberg well away from the goalline. The game was bound to end in a 1-1 tie if it wasn’t for Shane Mondy failing to tackle the incoming Vlagberg striker, leaving the goal open for a 85’ goal. Veldzicht was quick to respond, rushing at Vlagberg’s defenses as time ran short. #6 Jules Glass saved the tie with a 90’ goal.

Klappenberg FC 1 - 1 South Alban FC @ Klappenberg Stadium, Klappenberg
Attendance: 5,000

Way down south, even more south than South Alban is to Alban, these two teams, much like Vlagberg and Veldzicht, could not seem to get the upper hand on the other side. The game was slow given the quick pace of the previous day as the two teams spent most of the time fighting in the midfield.

Kapolder City FC 2 - 0 Warnecque FC @ Ayers Group Stadium, Warnecque
Attendance: 7,500

Kapolder City continues to show its early season dominance by marching straight through Ayers Group Stadium and showing the central Dormillian team a thing or two about taking on a top five team, quickly tearing open the defender’s defenses for an early and mid-game goal. From there, another typical mid-field fight with Kapolder City mostly resting on its laurels with another flawless victory.

Courlaroux AC 1 - 2 Chery FC @ Rémy de Launey Memorial Stadium, Courlaroux
Attendance: 67,878

The close geography between Stiura Hall and Eppendorf made this local game a fan favorite this week, which was enhanced by the shootout between the teams throughout the afternoon. Stiura Hall opened up the game with a very early goal at 5’, which was responded by a goal by Eppendorf at 10’. The fighting between the two teams was surprisingly sportsmanlike, with neither side taking care to avoid getting hit with cards, which unfortunately failed as Stiura Hall was hit with the first one of the night at 15’. They responded to this unfortunate turn by scoring two minutes later, showing their ability to shake off fouls and cards easily and keep their focus. The game went on in this fashion for the rest of the night, with both teams eventually ending up tying with 3 goals each at the end of regulation.

South Kapolder FC 2 - 2 Helle FC @ Lions Stadium, Helle
Attendance: 20,059

A third tie game this week. There was obviously way too much turtling on several teams as even the typically explosive South Kapolder squad barely managed to get out with a win at Lions Stadium, with Helle’s defenses proving themselves more often than not. Both teams managed to score on each other twice, but the harm was more on Helle as this game now hits them with 5 goals conceded at home at the start of the season, not a great look on either their squad or their coach. Fortunately, most of the fans believe that Helle did manage to score on high-ranking teams, giving them an excuse for conceding so many at home.

Enoire FC 3 - 3 Waalwijk FC @ University of Waalwijk Stadium, Waalwijk
Attendance: 20,000

What better way to end the week than with yet another tied game? At least this was a high scoring one with both teams showing a good performance for the students of the University of Waalwijk that had finished their winter semester. The game was a shootout on the far ends of the field, each team giving their all to get the ball on the other side of the goalkeepers throughout. The game ended with Waalwijk’s third and final goal at 76’, holding Enoire at midfield until the end of the game.

The Roendavarian Special Royal Force, along with the ARSF, storm several buildings in Dociara City

DOCIARA CITY- Several revelations have changed the scene of the 2018 Treiorevikos that shocked the nation, causing mass paranoia and panic in the streets. A premature explosion at the Dociara Grand Central Station and a defector from the Poison Ivy Group has revealed a mass terrorism plot that would cripple the nation and involved the targetting of not only the Crown Prince, but of several important figures that were supposed to arrive in Dociara City during the 26th of December.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, at around 7:13 P.M., an explosion rocked the top balcony of the Dociara Grand Central Station. The explosion resulted in the collapse of the stained glass dome of the station as well as destroying several stores lining the station. Luckily, most people were at home celebrating Christmas Eve when the explosion happened, with only three people injured from the incident, all of them bystanders. No one was sure of the cause of the explosion. Initial police reports concluded that it was a gas leak. None of them ruled that it was a result of a person due to the strict guidelines of the Treiorevikos banning explosives. It was only until 12:34 A.M. that the true nature of the events were revealed.

A wounded man entered the Roendavar Police Headquarters in a state of panic. He was bleeding due to a gunshot wound in his left shoulder and several cuts from what appears to be shrapnel wounds. He demanded to see the Roendavarian Head Police Chief Gregor Anvițara, and he was promptly met by the Police Chief in the lobby. That was when the plot known as the Poison Night was revealed.

The Poison Night Plot was a terrorist attack plotted by the Posion Ivy Group, a well known secret organization located in Vastaros and was rumored to be supported by the Vastarosi Government. The plot involved 17 explosives scattered throughout the city in several important buildings where important delegates would be staying, such as the prestigous Athropolia Hotel and Docus Park. 3 additional truck bombs were prepared to explode for the main funeral. The Police Chief immediately called the Minister of Internal Defense Adrianus Viertan, who ordered the RSRF and the ARSF to commence sweeping operations in the entire capital city.

Dociara City was put on lockdown as every single building across the city were investigated. Some bombs were easily found with the help of the unnamed defector, while others required intensive searching. Dociarastaie were woken up as police patrolled the streets as soldiers moved quickly. A media blackout was ordered to avoid panic and to minimize attention from the international community. Around 9:18 A.M., December 25, the lockdown and blackout was lifted, and the true horror of the plot was revealed. In total, all of the 16 bombs were retrieved, with the other one being the premature explosion in the Dociara Grand Central Station. Only 1 truck bomb was found in the streets of the Octavius Avenue, close to several embassies. The other two was presumed to be only planned and was not put in place yet.

Crown Prince Ivan Alexandru Coastăs Avarești released a statement at 10:35 A.M. stating,
"The event that was foiled today is an example of the horrors that we must avoid during this chaotic times. This was an act of cowardice, one that was motivated by unjust and unfair reasons that they know, in their hearts, will affect thousands, if not, millions of people. However, unlike what they want to happen, we rise as a stronger people because of their failed plot. We must show them, our fellow citizens, and the world, that Roendavar will not back down, and it will continue to be the bastion of peace and unity, and no, I repeat, no simple terrorists can take that away from us. No simple minded șelicroiae (untranslatable word that can mean idiot) shall ruin the foundations that we, and our people, have built over the centuries. The Roendavarian government still stays committed to a peaceful and stable Treiorevikos."

Due to the plot, several pracautions must be made by the Roendavarian government. Therefore, they have announced that the state funeral for the Late King Vladimir IV Draculul Avarești shall be moved to December 28. Dociara City shall also be closely monitored by both the ARSF and RSRF. The government adivses the public to report any unusual activity that goes against the Treiorevikos guidelines and to remain vigilant while going outside.

Ostregali Maritime Force responds to hijacking

Image

Ostregali marines board the North Star

On December 21st at around 6:00 GMT, the bulk carrier North Star departed from Port Prodan, filled with cargo for Verdon. Three days later, on Christmas Eve, the North Star was halfway through its journey when what appeared to be a pirate skiff approached it from the southeast around 5:00.
Shortly afterwards, pirates upon the skiff attempted to board the vessel. The North Star initially attempted anti-piracy maneuvers, which had no effect on the pirate skiff.
The crew of eighteen sheltered in the ship's citadel while the five security guards on board attempted to delay the pirates' boarding, firing warning shots at the skiff.
This had no effect on the skiff, as it continued to come extremely close to the North Star until a team of ten pirates finally boarded and hijacked the vessel.
Ostregali ships in the vicinity had received the alert that had been sent by the ship using its SSAS (Ship Security Alert System) and proceeded to assist the North Star.
Two Ostregali guided-missile destroyers arrived at 7:30 and deployed a HH-60 Pavehawk.
A team of eleven Ostregali marines then boarded the ship via the Pavehawk.
The pirates, as soon as spotting the marines, disembarked from the North Star and boarded their skiff.
The eleven Ostregali marines remained on board the North Star until it left the vicinity and subsequently were picked up by the HH-60 to return to their vessel.
"We're glad the operation went so smoothly," says an anonymous soldier who took part in the operation. "There were no injuries or casualties, and the ship and crew are all safe."
The North Star is expected to safely dock in Verdon on the 27th.

Wolfgang Isaak Asks For Reform To Constitution

Heir apparent and the oldest son of former Kaiserine Annett Isaak, Wolfgang Isaak, yet again called for a change within the Smarag Constitution. Specifically Article 1, which dictates the rules of the Isaak family concerning their heritage, the bloodline, etc. What Wolfgang has historically challenged is how the next Kaiser is decided. Article 1, Section IV states "The current Kaiser, head of the House of Isaak, is to choose their heir apparent." Section I states "The Kaiser is to be of the House of Isaak." These two sections allow for the Kaiser to choose anyone as long as they are an Isaak.

In 2000, Annett Isaak formally switched the heir apparent from her son Wolfgang, to her grand nephew and current Kaiser, Albert von Isaak. Her reasoning was that she saw Albert as a more charming candidate then her son. This sparked many controversies between Wolfgang, who Albert decided was the next heir apparent, and Annett's three sons, being the aforementioned Wolfgang, then Roland and Dietmar.

During Wolfgang's annual address that he has done since 2005 on his mother's birthday, he yet again challenged the constitution. He was quoted as saying "I love my cousin, Albert, but I still will preach that like any good monarchy, the decided heir apparent should follow a strict set of rules and not this loose deciding. I believe my mother made a fine decision to choose Albert, however, I believe I could have done a great job myself. It is royal blood, after all. But that's besides my point... like any good royal family, we do need a set in stone plan for the next leader of Smaragdinsel. The House of Windsor, Hohenzollern, Habsburg-Lorraine, Romanov... all powerful families historically, followed this. For the House of Isaak to make it's mark, we must as well. I yet again urge Der Unterhaus to possibly call for an amendment."

A poll done by NNS showed that 47% of people from Isaakshafen support an amendment, 39% want the law to remain, and 14% don't care or didn't answer. This topic also was hot during the 2016 Premierminister election. It was something that Magda Sheila, former Premierminister, toyed with in her campaign, quoted as saying at a rally in Söldneroase, "I do get what Wolfgang is saying, and whilst I somewhat agree, I believe that anyone of royal Isaak blood is a capable Kaiser as long as a capable Premierminister such as myself is with said Kaiser."

Nonetheless, a majority of members in Der Unterhaus, Der Oberhaus and Königlicher Hof, the three governing bodies who would ultimately have a say in something as drastic as this amendment, have remained neutral.

Renaut accepts peacekeepers
Kevara, Keverai

Following visits from Townside and Ainslie, Chief Consul Renaut has been encouraged to speak about the widespread discontent with the government over the Keverai leaks. He held a speech today in Kevara Gardens.

“We are working to create a functioning democracy in Keverai. I have been silenced by the same Judicial Council that ensured three decades of conservative government in our nation. No longer can they rule with such power over the government. No council of 8 people should have the right to choose which candidates should be running in a national election in a democratic government. A democracy... that is what I am here to ensure the Keveraite people today. Big Jack needs to go. This is the lasting positive change that Defence Minister Carboni of Ainslie discussed in a statement a while ago, and PM Kenzai echoed those messages when he personally visited me recently in an impromptu manner on his way back to Ainslie from Torom. I am greatly comforted by the fact that democracies around The Western Isles are ready to join us on the marvellous expedition to democracy we are about to embark on here in Keverai. Our democracy is only in infancy and it is time for it to grow.”

“Big Jack - you have no power now.” he repeated as the National Police Chief and the Chief of the Armed Forces nodded as they stood next to him.

Renaut also acknowledged the need for additional resources, and accepted the offers of Ainslie, Townside and Bravo Rio amongst other nations who offered support for peacekeeping.

“We need to clean out our police forces, defence forces, whom have kept the status quo in Keverai. The unethical, illegal and undemocratic one that has dominated the nation for decades. It is time to listen to our forefathers once again and forge a prosperous future - not only economically, but socially. This is the centrepoint of my government’s leadership. In order to do the immediate cleaning that must be done, foreign peacekeepers shall be allowed in to high ranking roles in the police at all levels and the defence force in order to train future jobholders and administer the forces in a way that is ethical, legal and with a dillegence that many of their predecessors did not have.”

“I stand with Democracy. I stand against Big Jack. What we have now is not what the people truly want. Let us forge a brighter future.”

The hashtag #IStandWithRenaut has been trending on Keveraite social media platforms and international forms of social media following the speech.

OVERLORD REFUSES ABDICATION AND ISSUES FINAL ULTIMATUM

Laura Déa | Political Editor | Thu 27 Dec
Image

For many years, Noronica has been a shining example of stability and peace within what can only be called a highly tumultuous region. Noronnicans were united under the same flag and impacted positively on the region, reforming two failed states, Arván and Charbagnia, into prosperous territories that shall stand the test of time for centuries to come. Now, however, we see more division than ever, with two of the country's highest political figures coming to blows. For the first time in decades, many are unsure whether a powder keg shall explode in Argus once more. With tensions running high, the Overlord has tried one last attempt at solving the crisis.

Going against all conceptions of a monarch lounging in luxury, the Overlord of Noronica addressed a gathered assembly of Sessux Islanders, local administrators and journalists in the Prefectorial Conference Hall in Lancaston, wearing casual dress. This shocking display of connection with those standing with him in the hall can only be admired. Many a monarch would not consider 'debasing' themselves by such acts, yet to show that he is indeed the same revolutionary of decades prior, Overlord Tytus displayed something politicians can only dream of. Being a true man of the people.

The address he gave, televised to millions of viewers domestic and foreign, reminded the nation of its tumultuous past, yet also the bright future it constructed for itself. However, it also came with stark warnings and a declaration of a new election.

19th December 1991. The war had ended and we stood victorious, yet without a vision to guide us. We drowned in the murky waters of uncertainty, continuing to flail as we could not find an exit, the surface frozen by fear. Through your pain and suffering, these drove me to take this country from the ashes of the past and remould it into my vision of the future. The future we have lived in has granted us tremendous liberties and we have lounged in the fruit of our labours. My only desire in those dark years was to secure a legacy for this great nation that has bled for us to stand where we are today. I believed that I would expire peacefully in my chambers, with the knowledge that I found Noronica a nation of ash but left it a nation of aspiration. Great people were born from this land, using Noronica's past imperial ambitions to do greatness across the region, and I am thankful that we continue to produce some of the region's great philosophers, philanthropists, scientists, businessmen, artists, authors and engineers even today. Through only being Noronnican, we have helped shape a brighter future for our children to follow suit.

However, the experiment that was Noronica is now on the teetering edge. I do not know what the future holds. That scares me. The Isles, while they have brought us unimaginable tales and peoples, has also brought upon its people great suffering. As an ageing man, I have seen things no human should ever see due to the effects rampant totalitarianism, and now I am faced with the startling realisation that factionalism still exists within my own country, and if we do not act for unity, we shall be divided. I do not pretend to you now that we are in a state of calm. Political ambition and factionalism have led us astray and we must fix our state before it is too late.

It is with this desire for peace that I do not accept the terms laid out before me. I have committed no crime. Let us be reconciled, and return Noronica to what it should be. By Royal Decree, as I have not yet abdicated, I do hereby call for a general election to be held so that a new Assembly and Government may be presented to me for my assent to lead the country. Our democracy is threatened by instability, so let the people decide our future.

This is my response. Not to bow down, but to demand that my country's political power is returned to its people forthwith. If this legal order is not followed through with, I will be forced to ensure the constitutional will of the monarch is enacted.

Turmoil grips Keverai as calls for constitutional change erupt
Kevara, Keverai

Protests in Kevara have escalated amidst Renaut’s stirring speech subsequently bordered by almost complete radio silence from the often outspoken leader. As peacekeepers from the ARSF attempt to douse the fires both figuratively and literally, Keveraites increasingly have realised the strong differences between the branches of their government. Anger has turned away from the central government and instead towards the Judicial Council of Keverai, known within the nation as ‘Big Jack’. Almost a year after the leaks, mismanagement of government has become very much an issue for Big Jack to respond to moreso than the legislature’s whose powers have now been noticed as comprehensively negligible amidst an expose from the Isles Review.

There have recently been twenty deaths and hundreds of arrests in a fortnight seen as integral to deciding Keverai’s future. The death of a compromising figure in the small yet wealthy state has further given motive to a cause. Beyond that of increasingly damaging rhetoric against eh judicial Council of Keverai, calls for constitutional reform to limit their power and restrict their intervention in politics have largely been welcomed by the wider Keveraite community. Protests have grown in number, with chanting of “Down with the Courts” and “Big Jack fall off the beanstalk!” echoing through Kevara’s major streets.

Deputy Leader Willeton has assured businesses and wealthy individuals that Keverai remains a safe place to invest and that the people have a right to decide on their future. It is rumoured that Chief Consul Renaut will speak in the coming days regarding recent calls for constitutional change. Reduced displeasure towards the legislature has made it significantly easier for the previously under fire Prime Minister to come out and speak, political commentators have suggested.

Riots have broken out in recent days, yet the tide does feel like its turning. However, only time will tell where the ship sails.

'UHITAP AWAKENS FROM COMA

SHUHAKALLU - Government officials have confirmed this morning that 'uhitap Âspu Kashaka has awoken from the coma he entered when faced with a potentially fatal stroke earlier this year. According to sources, the 'uhitap first came to consciousness on Tuesday morning, but his healthcare team and family kept the news private in case of a relapse into unconsciousness.

"At this point, we feel comfortable announcing this change of the 'uhitap's health to the nation," said his head doctor, Dr. Kikuta Ikuti.

At the moment, no information has been announced as to whether or not the 'uhitap is mentally fit and functional following the past several months. Experts in neurological fields have confirmed that a full recovery is unlikely after such a serious trauma to the brain, especially following such a long period of decreased brain function. At this time, the 'uhitap a Tempore will continue to fill the 'uhitap's role in government until further changes are announced.

"We are ecstatic to see the 'uhitap on the road to recovery, and pray that he will once again be able to fulfill his role in the Sâtêp Chambers, ancestors willing," stated 'AT Ihwalâ Luktsha upon announcement of the news. "He is not only a good leader, but a good man, and we can only wish him the best in the coming days."

This change in the 'uhitap's status has reinvigorated debate on the status of a constitution for the nation, which had been temporarily quelled in the unity of the nation following the disaster at the Kunêshêktêmilu Hydroelectric Facility. However, protest leaders from the period following the self-immolation of Kita Têtê Kiâi in September have since stepped forward to state that "unless the promised meetings with the 'AT are put back on the agenda, [they] will again have to take drastic action". Response to these calls have been divisive, especially as some protesters have been implicated with the actions of Blue Yesterday.

"We do not support the actions of terrorists," said one protest leader, who wished to remain anonymous. "However, we should let this moment in our history remind us of why we marched in the first place: we need clarity and openess in our government, in our laws, and in the protection of our people. The people do not feel safe, and we cannot struggle in confusion while our leader remains incapable."

"Using the health of the 'uhitap as a political tool sickens me," said Hitap Mipax Shutu of the Sâtêp. "We cannot be disrupting the actions of the government in such a critical time to distract ourselves with this attack on our national identity. We need our traditions now more than ever. Let us not forget the violence that awoke the beast that bombed Kunêshêktêmilu Hydroelectric Facility and killed 4100 people and displaced 15,000 others."

Depression Rates Hit All-Time High In Smaragdinsel

According to a poll done by the Kleideutsch Center of Medicine, 6.6% of the Smarag population have been diagnosed with depression. To further divide this up by human categories including age, race, and gender, the KCM provided the following bar graphs.

Image
Image
Image

Concerning outliers include the rate of teenagers who are depressed, and the amount of trans people who are depressed. Anja Morsch, president of the KCM, attributed the high amount of white people being depressed to the high amount of white people within Smaragdinsel, saying that the majority of teenagers and transpeople within Smaragdinsel are white.

When a NNS reporter questioned Premierminister Amyas Jayme on this alarming statistic, he said that he plans on changing some of the medical policies that former Premierminister Terance Alexina brought about during her six year term. As quoted by Jayme, "Alexina's transphobic policies that she somehow got through Der Unterhaus then Der Oberhaus absolutely disgust me and I am currently campaigning for an end to these policies." Terance Alexina has refused to answer to Jayme's accusations. Nonetheless, one thing can be agreed upon, and that is that this statistic needs to go down.

King Vladimir IV's coffin being paraded in Dociara City

DOCIARA CITY- On the night of December 28, the entire country of Roendavar goes silent as tens of thousands of people made their way to the Roendavarian Capital, Dociara City, for the funeral of the Great King Dragoi Vladimir IV Draculul Avarești, a monarch well-loved not only in the country, but around the world. Several high profile guests also arrived in Dociara, including representatives from several countries.

The Vladimir Dociara International Airport was closed as several heads of state and foreign representatives arrived in the country. Most notable of these were the heads of the state, the Queens of Xrevaro, Eril and Yuntun An-Rozanite, and Aruian President Valerio Delfalco. The two Queens are close friends of the Roendavarian Royal Family and have made several contributions to the country. Meanwhile, although the Aruian President is a new face for some Roendavarians, Aruia and Roendavar have close ties, especially in the fashion industry. Some of the Toroman nobles have also arrived in Roendavar. Fellow Monarchist nation Norstham have also sent their representative, Norsan Royal Representative Alfred Helmsdal.

The Ahnslen Ambassador to The Western Isles, Andrew Whitford, has also arrived in Roendavar and received a warm welcome by the Roendavarian people due to the close alliances of the two countries as well as the Ahnslen deployment of the ARSF to help in the 2018 Treiorevikos. He released a statement earlier this evening, stating,

“As we did when the king passed last month, we express our condolences and sympathies to a nation, a people who have prospered under the reign of a moderate and admirable King. His work to unite the people of Roendavar is to be commended and he was a great father and a great ruler who will truly be missed. No matter what words we say, we understand it’ll never truly encapsulate or describe the grief that the Roendavaran people and the royal family after these times. From myself personally, the government I represent and on behalf of the Ahnslen public, we are grateful that we have been invited to enter into this difficult time for the Roendavaran people and we assure you we are here in this dark time.”
-Ahnslen Ambassador to The Western Isles, Andrew Whitford

During the afternoon, the Vladimir Dociara International Airport was once again opened to the public. Hundreds from Vastaros and Tillianan have flown all the way to Dociara in order to join the funeral ceremony. Trains all around the country were also full as some Andavarians and Sudeveriari made their way to Dociara as well. Some Roendavarians living abroad have also returned to visit the country and remember the King. Meanwhile, Dociarastaiae were busy cleaning the streets and helping accomodate the massive influx of fellow Roendavarians, showing the camaraderie in this time of great sorrow.

Andavarian President Lord Cătălin Alveus Văstin dismissed the Grand Court today with a statement, saying, "Today, as we end our session, let us remember the King who have guided us, his people, to a time of prosperity and greatness. Let us remember his goals, and may we uphold them, as a great tribute to the Father of the Modern Roendavarian Nation." The other three presidents also expressed the same emotions, with highly controversial and often enemy of the royal family Vastarosi President Victor Azănera Vațilezi backing down and repeating the same sentiment adding, "The people of Vastaros owes its thanks to the King, who during the Red Storms, opened to the Roendavarians, the plight of the Vastarosi, and have helped in improving our lives."

Around 8:00 P.M. Local Roendavarian Time, the funeral started. The funeral was based on Protacist traditions. The King's coffin was paraded through the city of Dociara from the Old Walls, traversing through the central Unity Boulevard, and stopping briefly in front of the Grand Court. After that, the coffin was paraded through the Royal Boulevard, stopping at the Palace of the Royals, and carried on to the Cave of Royalty, a massive mausoleum housing the remains of Roendavar's great Kings. There, the Protacist part of the funeral was commenced, first with the blessing of Nightshade, the Scattering of Petals, and then the Shattering. During the procession, thousands of Roendavarians lined the way, holding up candles. Other important guests and the Crown Prince himself were at the entrance to the Cave of Royalty. Before the mausoleum was closed, the Crown Prince said in a speech,

"Tonight, we Roendavarians are reminded of the Great King Dragoi Vladimir IV Draculul Avarești and the goodness he has brought our land. We shall always know him as the one who guided us, Roendavarians, through chaos, and managed to unite our states for the common good. For once, we stood not as Andavariari, Sudeveriari, Vastarosi, or Tillanorai, but as Roendavarians. Through him, we managed to become one of the greatest and richest nations in The Western Isles. And we, are forever grateful for his contributions to our fair land."

Celebrations were continued in the Palace of the Royals. Only invited guests were allowed. Distinguished representatives would be staying at the Orchard Palace, a separate building within the Palace Grounds. The mausoleum would opened to the public between 10 A.M.-4 P.M. the following days till the coronation of the Crown Prince. Treoirevikos shall be continued on January 3.

REFUSE CLEANUP BREAKS RECORDS AFTER TRASH PILES COAT EAST

Image

TURBAY- Thousands of citizens, after volunteering to fulfill their community service duties, swarmed the beaches of Turbay and other Eastern outcroppings of the nation to help pick trash. In a meeting on Boxing Day, the Presidium of the General Assembly issued a condemnation of those nations who would so wantonly litter into the precious oceans of the Isles, stating:
RECOGNIZING that Brulafia is not a major oceanic pollutor in the region,

INFERRING that this influx of waste comes from other, more decadent nations in the vicinity,

CONDEMING those that would so flagrantly exercise such disregard for their neighbors in the world community,

The Presidium of the General Assembly, in situ of the People's Republic of Brulafia assembled,
  • CLASSIFIES waste cleanup on the nation's coastline as a valid collection of community service hours,
    i. This classification shall last for a period of time which ends when the Presidium deems the crisis over in following legislation.
  • PERMITS citizens to violate publicly posted hours on beaches in the case they are collecting refuse, and
  • TASKS members of the Revolutionary Guard who are so trained as to supervise sections of cleanup in order to ensure health and safety standards are maintained.

After only hours of this bill clearing the Presidium and being signed into law by the State President, citizens of Brulafi could be seen in droves grabbing spade, shovel, and rake to clear our once-pristine beaches of the mess wrought by international forces. State President Watson, in an address to the nation Wednesday night, described the trash pileup as "clear evidence that the world's ways of globalist capitalism simply is not working, and it is nations like our own which must pay the price."

Once Thursday had passed, a tally of the trash cleaned off of the beaches of eastern Brulafi totaled over 800,000 pounds, a record both for Brulafi and the wider region of the Isles. While this record stands as a testament to the hardworking spirit of the people, it also serves as a grim reminder of how major this ecological catastrophe wrought upon our country is.

There still remains much work to be done, so if you reside in the eastern regions of the country and have not yet volunteered, there still remains an opportunity to do so. If interested, please call (GOV1 34)-67548 or contact your nearest government representative for details.
