EALDWIC DAILY NEWS

Gathered here at the Royal State House, the normal meeting place of the Assembly are all the trappings of the royal government of Wellsia. First and foremost is His Royal and Imperial Majesty Harold, King of Wellsia and Rudhula, Emperor over the Nebrusians. Sitting in state with the Assembly is also all members of the Council of 104, the Imperial Council, including both the Grand Dignitaries and the Directors, The Archheirarch and members of the Religious Council. The vistors gallery is standing room only filled with lords and dignitaries, members of the press and important members of the society. We are gathered here to listen to a speech by Lord Oswald Bastable, Overprocurator (Prime Minister) of the Empire of Wellsia and the Argive Colonies.
"Your Majesty, Lords, nobles, honored guest, we are gathered to discuss the insult of the Federal Council of Funce and ‘AT Hitap Tatta of Menna Shuli. They have, and I believe without malice, questioned the very honor and integrity of Fieldmarshal Ponsonby and through him all Wellsians. Fieldmarshal Ponsonby, who we all know is a man of the greatest integrity and a firm follower of the truth of the Good Lord. It is because of this reputation, that he was chosen to lead the investigation. In the beginning Fieldmarshal Ponsonby knew the investigation would be questioned unless he could show all that Truth would overcome Evil. For this reason, he invited every nation that wish to do so to send observers to witness the investigation, OCES agents from Ostehar participated in every aspect, since we have no experience with Atomic weapons, Our good friends the Miklanians sent one of the DSVs to retrieve the bomb from the bottom of the ocean.
This being said, I do not blame any nation that questions our good name and honor. We have lost that right to our own actions. While we did not build the bomb, it was built on our soil, under our very noses. We allowed the construction of a weapon of pure evil to come into being, because we were to naive to prevent it. There is an old saying 'Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.' We as a nation and people were fooled, we took the words of others at face value and did nothing to ensure that their word were not of the Lie. We have allowed the balance between good and evil to be tilted away from the good, and we are all tainted because of it. We must be more diligent in the future and never again be made fools of by those that follow the Lie and evil.
The findings of Fieldmarshal Ponsonby and his staff are opened for any and all to see. Though to ourselves, we no that our only crime in all of this was to not pay attention to what was happening in our own territory. We can only ask forgiveness in this. What is more important is the discovery of who took the Charbagnian scientist, their notes and possibly a second bomb. The OCES agents with the 3rd Airmobile that discovered and investigated the cave could not tell one way or another if a second bomb could have been made. What is known , is that the n=men who built the bombed dropped into the Southern Sea and their work was removed from the cave by either a country with their own agenda, or the Good Lord forbid a terrorist organization. Imperial Intelligence has sent copies of pictures taken by Christopher Vane, a reporter for the Daily News who was with the 3rd Airmobile when it was ambushed. Seventeen members of that force died that day and nine more were injured. These photographs have been distributed to the foreign intelligence agencies, hoping that this combined effort may shed light on the subject.
I ask all gathered here to restrain your anger and accept that we must prove to the world that we are as honorable and as truthful as we know ourselves to be. We must put our faith in the Good Lord and know that he will show us the way to the Truth. The Lie can not hide for long and when it surfaces, we and all other good men of the Islands must be ready to stand together. Thank you for your time and may the Good Lord watch over all of us."
There you have it the Overprocurator cautions restraint and hopes that our friends and neighbors, come together with us to track down those that did this evil deed and those that have helped them,

Ainslie too good at keeping secrets
Karine Senaren, 17:13 WAST (Arnton, Wesland)

Another surprise. Another surprise the media appears to have no clue about. How in 2018 does a large urban development’s purpose be hidden from the people who pay for it? Lereneau was no surprise to those close to the process, especially media reporters. It was very clear that there was extensive reporting on Lereneau yet none of it came up with anything decently conclusive which only leads to one logical conclusion. The Ahnslen Federal Government once again exercised its powers arbitrarily by issuing a media gag order on Lereneau.

This does not stop at the restriction of the freedom of the press. It extends to freedom of speech and ultimately freedom of thought. Ahnslens have had the purpose of an entire development concealed from them. Although it appears this order was benevolent in nature, that does not prevent the real possibility of arbitrary power being exercised by a government which is not obligated to protect freedom of speech domestically or internationally. It is under this context that Lereneau could become a symbol of secrecy.

Media such as Arendai International and various other political commentators have hailed Lereneau as a powerful symbol of Ahnslen values, yet it more than ever appears that Lereneau could in fact sway against the Ahnslen people - it could enforce the inequality that all nations experience on a geographical scale. It could go directly against what the common Ahnslen stands for.

Lereneau could be the symbol of Ahnslens losing their way. We have stood for equality and for decades practically enforced accountability upon our legislature. Yet, with a media gag order permitted by the Courts, they could prevent the reporting and thus accountability of an issue which appears to be far away from the somewhat acceptable domains for this to be occurring such as national security and law enforcement.

In all fairness, this move would have been absolute structural chaos for the Ahnslen Government - maybe the media and public opinion would’ve been too much to juggle? Despite this, democracy stands to represent the people and if structural chaos cannot be handled efficiently and effectively how will Ainslie navigate the successful conclusion to what is practically a brand new, planned township?

Ainslie has been running budget surpluses for around six years now, yet slim ones and it appears the taxpayer has finally found out why the economic position of the nation is not better than it is. It appears that the public had no consultation in this - I hate to think of how those people in the township of Lereneau feel after hearing about this.

The Ahnslen Government has successfully implemented dozens of projects with a future focus which have paid dividends back to our nation - let’s hope Lereneau is the next in the long list of them.

Note: Did you know media such as Arendai are partially funded by the government? Although legislation prevents Arendai from being manipulated by the Government, there is still every possibility that this goodwill could change at short notice - without Ahnslens knowing. This is why independent media is so important. Here at Anaren we are committed to independent journalism, ensuring that Ahnslens get exactly what they expect - critical, intellectual analysis on issues that matter to them and on news that surrounds them. To support us, you can leave a donation - an act to support free and independent media such as Anaren.

Your support will go a long way.

With thanks,

Uttara unveils new international Seaport in Nirapanza
Image

Interior Bureau Director, Rashmi Richa Uttara, announced a new scheme to rejuvenate the stagnating economy in Nirapanza’s waterfront district by constructing a new international seaport in place of the old fisheries district. The Porto Velho, one of the poorest metropolitan areas in South Totzka, is to be completely demolished and rebuilt in an attempt to rejuvenate the stagnating economy of the city. According to Uttara the project is budgeted at costing “just more than nine hundred million Escuritas” [for OOC benefit: around 13 million USD]. In the same announcement Uttara stated that a series of railroads will also be constructed to transport agricultural products, especially beef and goat meat, via freight from the Grande Interior to the new port. According to Uttara “This new investment in infrastructure will only bring more opportunities and more fortune to a deprived area.”

The Porto Velho is one of Nirapanza’s oldest districts developing in the 17th century to capitalise on the rise of Western Isles fish being shipped back to Europe. Former city mayor Nirapaum Velish Ashri famously commented “they built a city to accommodate all the prawns.” However, since independence Totzka’s overseas fish markets have collapsed leaving the Porto Velho to become the home of hundreds of abandoned fisheries and beached fishing vessels which in the 1980s were hastily converted into cramped living accommodation. Over 45,000 people now live in the Porto Velho, 60% of which are unemployment, who are to be rehoused with the upcoming project.

The announcement has already been criticised by Constitutionalist-backed media outlets like Verdade who ran an article, sensationally titled ‘Government of Gamblers’ criticising a federal government increasingly short of cash for spending nearly a billion ES$ in a single costal city while economic stagnation haunts their own power base in the province of Pamilya. One constitutionalist Commissioner Xandinho Paredes writing in an open letter to Verdade that “the Federal government should not be spending millions saving a city left on the beach to rot by the provincial government of South Totzka.” The Constitutionalist party are expected to call for a motion of adjudication against the scheme in the Comissão Popular, though the Socialist-Industrialist coalition remains strong enough to defeat such protests.

Is Marcos Anand’s ‘O Gato Selvagem’ Anti-Totzkan?
Image

There’s no denying that Marcos Anand’s latest work ‘O Gato Selvagem’ (the wildcat) is a masterpiece of film making. Beautifully shot, excessive and long dining and parlour scenes are violently punctuated with scenes of rebel and Viceregal soldiers battling in the streets of the old Viceroyalty Do Rio De Ouro. Asna Kiane de Boa, who stars as the titular ‘wildcat’, revels in a stunning performance as old, tired, aristocratic soldier all too aware of his generation’s era coming to a bloody end. It must be said the make up artists did a stunning job making de Boa look forty years older. The score, composed by Anand himself, is a creative mix of traditional Totzki drum and string instruments, European orchestra’s and more modern bass-driven tunes. Yet the Pièce de Résistance is surely the closing moments as the screen fades to black and the Forge of Nations begins to play.

It's is not the film-making that has seen Anand’s most recent film shrouded in controversy but the subject matter. O Gato Selvagem explores the final days leading up to the exodus of Viceregal aristocracy in 1971 set from the point of view of real-life aristocratic Suhaan Combre Nissimel Paulo (Kiane de Boa). Any film set during the violent years of the Totzkan revolution (1961-1979) is bound to raise both eyebrows and emotions. Disasters like Nossa grande Revolução (2011) scared many filmmakers from ever touching the subject. O Gato Selvagem is certainly more tactful than it’s predecessor and is sensible enough to stay away from depicting some of the civil war’s more influential figures such as Amitabh Sanjiv or Suraj Chirapati however the film’s chosen protagonist, the comparatively inoffensive Combre Nissimel Paulo has raised complaints the film white-washing the role of the aristocracy in the brutal Viceregal regime. “Where is the hierarchisation of ethnicity” Anand’s detractors cry as the claim the film is tantamount to treachery. Some the film’s defenders have pointed to one powerful scene where Paulo confesses to the crimes he committed during the parliamentarian uprising as a symbol of the film’s sense of tact and open mindedness. This debate shows how we are still unfortunately so divided over the Totzkan revolution.

It should also be noted that the living members of the Combre family, who now reside in Dragao do Mar have made have an official complaint to the Totzki Film Association about the depiction of their ancestor, though it would be expected that they would be quick to denounce the film as revolutionary propaganda despite Anand injecting into movie a general tone of appeasement.

Perhaps the film’s true crime is its audience. Despite the rise in so-called ‘Nuliwood’ films at least half the population cannot afford to attend the highbrow cinema’s where the film is currently be shown until it’s general release next October. Therefore, it’s audience is composed of the middle and upper-classes, the elites of our society. This may be why the film is so kind towards Paulo and his ilk, it’s just the old aristocracy apologising to the new.

Are The Chancers Taking Enough Chances?

Image
Fans After Third Malagwi Goal
In a shocking turn of events, the Noronnicans were sorely smashed by the opposing Malagwi team who threw in some excellent football. Fans at home and in Corindia were highly disappointed with the game, some telling NMC News that they were now considering 'coming back home' from the event. On the team's side, Captain and Goalkeeper for Noronica, Martin McBain told NMC News that he was 'utterly gutted' and that he hoped the team would be able to learn from their mistakes.

Despite the nickname of the Noronnican Football team being 'The Chancers', many back home and abroad are questioning whether this set of players is taking many chances, instead opting to play it safe too many times. Players and fans alike noted their lack of risk-taking in the first and second half, instead playing a slow game while the Malagwi team soared through the pitch with searing goals. This worried many fans who believe that Noronica needs to make more attempts on goal rather than trying to survey and analyse. 'More playing less thinking' was the motto of many fans getting back to their hotels from the match.

NMC's Corindian correspondent, Juan Cattan, told the NMC that there was a sense of 'true shame', by the fans as they came home, with some reports of hooliganism.

"Fans here in Corindia are shocked by what was meant to be an exciting first match. Instead, Noronica was forced to concede three goals, something which has proved to be a shock both here and back home. Some here are worried that others are taking out their anger, with some reports of drunken violence from Corindian police. The Noronnican Foreign Office is urging that fans at home and abroad do not resort to violence or hooliganism, stating that they are 'representing Noronica' and should enjoy the local atmosphere instead. Many fans are capitalising on this, with many fans using leisure centres, cafes, restaurants, pools, and other local areas, experiencing Corindia firsthand."

Martin McBain and the team on Twitter said that they were going to be training hard for the next match, learning from their mistakes.

"While we are utterly gutted by the result, I have to say that the Malagwi team played an excellent match, showing great skill and an ability to really shine on the pitch. I understand and feel for the fans at home and here in Corindia, we were not at our best in the match and I hope with this in mind, we can really push ourselves in the next match."

Will the Chancers live up to their name or will they flounder?

Jenna McDowert Drops Campaign, Prince Trystan Winner

Image
Jenna McDowert Stepping Down
After only a short few days of campaigning in the streets of the capital city, Nolon, Prince Trystan has won the election campaign for Mayor. In a highly surprising turn of events, popular candidate Jenna McDowert has dropped from the campaign on 'family grounds'. While it has never been a reason for McDowert to slow her campaign before, it is well known that her father, Duncan McDowert is currently in hospital with a form of liver disease.

In a markedly small withdrawal speech, Jenna McDowert wished Prince Trystan a 'smooth transition into office' and she made her intentions clear to drop out from the race to care for her father and family. Many supporters of hers are shocked and concerned, not understanding her reasoning behind the withdrawal. Mr. Henry Graham, a taxi-driver from Tunstead and a long-time supporter of McDowert, had this to say.

"I am utterly shocked by the withdrawal by Jenna, she is a marvellous woman who really connected with the people. I don't understand how she could abandon all of this for her family. She has thousands backing her, and this has never been a reason for her before, but I have to admit, if my Dad fell ill like her's, I think I'd probably look out for him as well. Although, why couldn't she have just taken a few days break? She has been campaigning tirelessly for the past few years, so she has veterans who can continue the struggle. I just find this a bit odd."

Her candidate is Prince Trystan, recently returned from his military tours in Arván and Charbagnia. He shocked Noronica last week with his announcement that he was running for Mayor of the city, stating that he wished to 'return importance and respect to the Royal Family by serving [...] the people directly'. Surprisingly, he managed to garner large groups of supporters, all interested in what seems to be quite an exciting 'experiment', as some have said.

The other candidates did not manage to pass the threshold of initial votes, leaving only Prince Trystan and Jenna McDowert. Many were expecting a tough battle for the position, and now the city is divided over their feelings towards the Prince taking the position, especially as it was due to the other candidate dropped out rather than a proper election.

Mr. Graham had this to say about the Prince's win.

"While I have total respect for the Royal Family, I just don't know if I can stomach one being in such a high public position. Many of us do say that we want the Royals to do more, and now that the Prince is, I respect the man, but I am very worried. This isn't feudal Noronica, where Royals and Lords got titles randomly, we vote our officials. With this happening, I feel just a bit off about the whole thing."

NMC has reached out to the office of the Governor of Greater Nolon, Mollie Tressa, who swears new Mayors into office on behalf of the Crown. The office has so far declined to comment.

DEC91 MOVEMENT MARCH CLASH
Andrew McDouglas | Political Columnist | Wed 15 Aug

Image

The so-called 'DEC91 Movement' announced its plans to hold marches around the country in protest of what is seen as 'silencing the guards against Fascist Republicanism'. In recent years, it argues, the nation has ignored and silenced the man who won the Noronnican Civil War, the country's monarch, Tytus Alexander.

The movement calls itself the 'DEC91 Movement' after the Noronnican Civil War's conclusion in December 1991, when the Noronnican Freedom Movement entered Nolon City for the first time since before the civil war. The topic remains a highly contentious issue for the country due to the fact that many of the population still remember the war.

Over 4000 veterans, civilians and current serving members of the armed forces and emergency services have all gathered to march in the city of Gwynon to show their discontent with the current Government and the country's Prime Minister, Joshua McIntosh. There are concerns that the nation, which resurfaced from the civil war under a new constitution designed by Tytus Alexander and the senior members of the Noronnican Freedom Movement.

We reached out to the figurehead leading the movement, Johnathan Aegnyth.

""The nation is in a dire need of a backtrack. The war fought in the 1980s was fought for the liberty of the Noronnican people and the reinstallation of the Noronnican monarchy. Some of us are not monarchists, some of us are, but what unites us totally is our respect for the leader of the revolution, Tytus Alexander. He rebuilt the country from the ground up and he forced us into the future. We are respected worldwide again, but the current government is trying to silence and cajole the old guard politicians. Joshua McIntosh is selfish and ignorant, he does not care for the Noronnican people, nor will he ever. We have fought constant wars and yet our servicemen are merely pawns in his games. We want a leader who cares for the people. We will fight for a leader that cares."

This comment has sparked debate around the country and has caused many to side with Jonathan and his movement. However, many are of the opinion that Joshua McIntosh's Government and he were democratically elected and are therefore the rightful leaders of the nation.

Some of those with this opinion in Gwynon sparked a counter-protest. Violence reigned on the streets of Gwynon as pro and anti-government protesters clashed. The Bureau of Internal Security was called in by the Gwynon Police Force as violence grew out of control. In terms of mortality, 5 people were killed in the incident and two-hundred are injured to varying degrees.

The Gwynon Times could not get a comment from the Prime Minister's Office at this time.

Thirteen people shot in Utrolig during Isles Cup celebrations
Following Kalmark's 2-1 win over Ostehaar, celebrations were in full swing. The Utrolig Main Street was closed off so that people could parade down the city, wearing the infamous yellow and blue strip of the Kalmark national team. During the celebrations, shots rung out, and the parade immediately dispersed, people running left, right and centre.
The shooting began at around 5:45pm and ended at 5:59pm.
This is the second day of shootings across Utrolig.
Yesterday, two people were killed, and seven others were injured in three different shootings within the Utrolig city limits, and another person was injured on the 13th.
Today, seven people were killed, and six others have been injured, one critically.
The parade was under intense police protection, but the shooter is suspected to have shot from an elevated position.
Just like yesterday's shootings, an assault rifle caliber was used, precisely, a 5.56x45mm caliber semi automatic rifle.
Here, a video of today's shooting, was released. We have translated the video into English. We cannot show the video, due to it's graphic nature.

(people cheering and singing the anthem)
God Bless Kalmark, God Bless our Land!
Your beautiful mountains, Your beautiful plains!
God Bless Kalmark, God Bless our-
(shot)
What was that?
Fireworks! Fireworks, celebrate my friend!
(three more shots in quick succession)
There it is! God damn!
(screaming, people begin to run)
People are falling, run, run!
(sustained fire for 12 seconds)
There is blood, there is blood, run!
Oh my god!
(a voice speaks on a megaphone; "Everyone please leave, there is a dangerous situation, the parade will be suspended, please leave")
We need to go!
(five more shots)
Run! Quick!
(video ends)

As we said earlier, police have confirmed the deaths of 7 people.

Negarakita 2:2 Altera
Blue Boys charge ahead in first game at the cup

In a result no one really saw coming but everyone is happy about, the Negarakitan national team have managed to tie with Altera in the first match of pool play. What's more, the blue boys, a side with serious star power in the legendary Mohamad Saleh but who have failed to string victories together, were ahead until a last minute goal.

This match can only be a good sign for the team, who have been looking for a good showing on the international stage for some time. Negarakita have not won a game in a major international competition since the 1970s, when star players such as Tungku Rahman dominated the field. While Saleh had a quiet game, especially compared to his good form in the Orsandian league, his brilliant through ball that set up Wellin-Reza's lead-creating goal showed the level of footballing IQ that the young man has.

When asked about the performance after the game Saleh was calm, downplaying their successes. He said that the game had been "a good warmup, but [they] still have a way to go before they can challenge the better teams." He thanked God for the game, and told reporters that he had only god to thank for the opportunity to play at such a high level, reminding watchers that "there are far more people out there crippled than there are star players, and I must be thankful that I was gifted by Allah the ability to represent our nation. Not everyone gets that, not everyone is so fortunate."

On Surat, the #TimBiru was trending as hundreds of thousands of Negarakitans posted their support for the national team. Merchandise sales have skyrocketed, as fans start to believe that this could be the year for Negarakita to finally break their streak of not making it out of the group stages. The entire staff here at Her World Negarakita wish the team the best luck for their campaign, and will keep them in our prayers.

PRH Times
The PRH

It comes with great enjoyment to say that the president of the PRH has been elected, after a long debate among the council. The President has been announced as Ethan Alexander, the now current president is 24, making him one of the youngest presidents in the history of the this great nation.

He had this to say to the masses
“We as a nation have been divided into two for far too long and with the east and the west in constant debate, I have heard the cries of the people. It is now time to turn the tide, to break the divide if you will. This divide is mostly due to tribal groups of native heldans wanting both representation and independence. It is time to show them that they can not choose to be in the nation or not, they are on our land and we are ready to use it for the benefit of the people. I hope that we can fix this issue quickly. My plans for this nation pertain primarily in healthcare and industry for this term. I believe Helda can become a centre for medical tourism if we try hard enough and by helping others we will help ourselves. Industry can be expanded, mostly in agriculture and I plan to turn the east into a new breadbasket along with some minor ones in the west like we already have. The time is now, it is time to break the divide.”

After that he then left the room, with large amounts of praise and clapping ringing around the room. There were some minor protesters outside the door waiting for him but luckily for him the car was right there to transport him to the residence of the leader of Helda. The protests were then hosed down as soon as they were started, leaving only a select few to get imprisoned.

The response amongst the provinces has been mixed between west and east, with the east feeling differently to that of the west. Trolls on social media and wider media were recently shut down after countless warnings and were threatened with permanent bans to the local and public media. Some ringleaders have been sent to prisons among the region, due to their threating and subversive behaviour. The Council Leaders have also added their statements, with the two major provincial leaders saying the following:

“I fully support Ethan Alexander, he is a great man that will break the tides, bringing progress and power to the glorious PRH once more as it has been along history, I hope to see many things as he has stated in our grand halls.”- Jordan Jackman, New Helda Council Member.

“I will fully support our president, he is going to great things, I tell ya what, I will definitely support him in all elections to come, given he runs for reelection.” - Alex Truman, Camola Council Member.

And with that, the PRH welcomes back one of its most popular leaders to the helm of this nation. Until next time.

BALENAMAR, CORINDIA - "'Mon de Crocs! 'Mon de Crocs! Fir-tem partis, fir-tem champion! 'Mon de Cr-!"

These were the words announced through the speakers of The June Fifteenth Sports Complex before Corindian security whisked away a Cosian reveller from the PA Booth. The reveller had reason to be jubilant: After Cosie put away San Jimenez 2-1 in their opening match of the IFAF Western Isles Cup 2018, the white-and-teal faithful believe that the team's first appearance in the Cup will also see them lift the region's most prestigious football trophy. Goals from Royce Funan and Asric Casan helped make the Crocs the team to watch on a sunny afternoon in Corindia.

Cosie made their debut in the Cup against San Jimenez: a fairly well-equipped team running a formation much like Cosie's own. The Jimenean first eleven graciously welcomed their Cosian counterparts in the opening ceremony, and the Cosians were gracious in response; a rare sight to see our boys showing some professionalism against a respected opponent.

Kicking off the first half, the Crocs spent the opening minutes strutting their stuff with cheeky displays of skill; Cosian players beckoned their opponents over to collect the ball before dribbling it away when the Jimeneans were in reach. They continued to do this even when the Jimenean players figured out how to keep the ball in reach, taking valuable possession of it away from the Crocs.

To Cosie's credit, their daring efforts were soon rewarded in the 21st minute. Cosian midfielder Enrique Ellton baited San Jimenez's Terano Mackillop over to take the ball from him; once the Jimenean was close enough, Ellton pulled a roulette, with the Cosian's spin around Mackillop giving himself ample space to make a pinpoint cross for his teammate. That teammate was star striker Royce Funan, who muscled San Jimenez's Joseph Junio off of him before firing the ball straight into the net.

Cosie could not have asked for a more iconic player to score their first ever goal in the Isles Cup.

San Jimenez looked to have learned their lesson with that first goal; they were far more wary of chasing after balls seemingly given away by their Cosian counterparts. Rather than wait for the Jimeneans to make any moves on them, Cosie's players decided to take the ball forward to the Jimeneans instead. The Crocs were hoping their arsenal of footballing tricks would guide them past the opposition, but for the most part, San Jimenez held firm.

One Cosian who has consistently managed to get past his man, however, is winger Asric Casan. Just as he did in previous matches against Verona Beach's Edmund Fitzgerald and Athara Magarat's famed Kaji-Man Iwahang, Casan made routine work of outplaying Goliad Jimenez with his stellar footwork. With his success rate, it was inevitable for Casan to be involved in Cosie's next goal.

That next goal came in the 42nd minute. Having received a pass from Cosian playmaker Carlos Fontana, Casan found himself face-to-face with Goliad Jimenez once again. Goliad tried to prep himself for any new tricks Casan may have been keeping up his sleeve; what he didn't expect was for Casan to simply sprint past him with the ball. Jimenean defender Zere Escarta tried to cover for his teammate by stopping Casan in his tracks, yet the Cosian wonderkid managed to slip by Escarta into San Jimenez's penalty box. Casan capped off his run with a sublime shot into the bottom-left corner of the net, far out of Jimenean keeper Michael Fando's reach.

It was all smiles for Cosie and its fans heading into the second-half. With a two-goal cushion over San Jimenez, it was natural for the Crocs to let loose their shoulders and play with less urgency. Though the Jimeneans found themselves two goals down, they weren't about to let the deficit compromise their composure. As Cosie carelessly went about giving the ball away to their opponents, San Jimenez spent their possessions probing for cracks in Cosie's defense.

At one point in the match, San Jimenez's XI managed to complete 17 passes uninterrupted. It wasn't as if the Cosians weren't trying to stop it, but they did find themselves struggling to intercept the ball while San Jimenez were in the middle of their inspired run of play. Their passing streak was finally broken by the 79th minute, courtesy of Jimenean forward Edward Garza turning in Oye Fuesta's pass into the Cosian net; unfortunately, that meant Cosie had conceded a goal.

Any worries of Cosie giving up their lead were thankfully put to rest ten minutes later, when the referee's whistle signalled the end of the match. The Crocs came out victorious in their first Isle Cup appearance, and like the reveller who hijacked the Complex's PA booth, almost every Cosian supporter believes they'll be lifting the trophy on their first outing in the tournament.

Next on Cosie's itinerary: A trip to Carmo's National Dome, where they'll be taking on Townside in the next round of Isle Cup matches. Elsewhere in Corindia, San Jimenez will be looking to recoup their loss by challenging Dormill & Stiura in the other Group H match of the day.

Until then, 'Mon De Crocs!

Bill Introduced In Federal Assembly To Redefine Monarchy

Image
The Bill Garnered Full Attendance
It was announced today in the Federal Council by the Speaker Harry Watsulbry, that a new bill would be debated in the chamber. This new bill is being called the 'Modern Monarchy Bill', or in its proper title, 'Monarchical Powers and Constitutional Rights Bill 2018'. The bill was introduced by Graham McAthews of the Noronnican United Party, who opened with a statement that urged for a modern and limited monarchy.

"As the Federal Overlordship of Noronica grows ever more prevalent on the international stage, it is now time to introduce the nation to a more modern and efficient version of itself. In doing so, it must shed its old ways and instead open itself to a wider and brighter era. This includes our oldest and most upheld tradition, which is the Noronnican Monarchy. Despite Constitutional changes in 1992, it is felt by the Government, that a new Noronica, demands a new and more efficient monarchy. This new bill hopes to do just that, as it details the constitutional changes that shall be made to allow the democratic institutions of this country to take the helm as it is destined to do, in a flourishing democracy such as Noronica. It is through this bill, that Noronica is finally able to come into itself fully and embrace a modern and bright future."

The bill has so far gotten to a good start, with many in the Noronnican United Party debating for the new bill. However, to some members of the other parties of the Federal Council, it is highly controversial. The opposition leader of the Conservative Party argued that this bill was a 'terrible misjudgement of the machinery of the state, and undermines the nation's integrity and legitimacy'.

The Prime Minister, Joshua McIntosh, had this to say:

"This new bill is a triumph of modern constitutional monarchies. By that, I mean that this bill redefines the relationship between the state and a monarchy. As it stands today, the nation is still subject to the whims of a monarch on paper and in reality. It is vital that as a government, we are able to function fully and without hindrance. With this bill, my Government and I shall usher in a new era of Governing. My relationship with Overlord Tytus Alexander I has not changed, but our relationship as a state with the Crown has most definitely changed."

NMC's Political correspondent, Harry Glowen, told the NMC that the new bill has become a rather controversial topic for many of the public. Many are concerned as to what this 'new monarchy' shall be defined as, and how it will function. Professor Henry Carter, Professor of Modern History in the University of Harburgh, had this to say:

"While radical reform is often welcomed, the negative effects are often overlooked. It is a concern that we have not been informed as to the exact details behind this bill as it is still within the bounds of heavy bureaucracy, and yet it will be perhaps one of our most important constitutional changes in the twenty-first century, (if the rumours are to be believed). How shall we know the ramifications of this bill if all we can hear is a Prime Ministerial speech full of vim and vigour with no substance?"

The NMC tried to reach out for a comment from the Royal Palace, but there has yet to be a response.

The new Samuel Jacobs Stadium

New stadium opens in Bushby

Yesterday, the long awaited project in Bushby, the Samuel Jacobs Stadium, was completed and opened. The stadium has a capacity of 52 000 and is set to be used for cricket and soccer, as well as a venue for concerts and festivals.

Construction on the Samuel Jacobs Stadium started in 2015. A new stadium needed to be built as the largest stadium at the time, the William Paul Arena, only has a capacity of 23 000 which wasn’t enough for large concerts and sports matches. The City of Bushby also decided that the stadium would be useful to draw more tourists to the city, because tourists will go to the city to watch the largest sports matches and attend the largest concerts.

Several dwellers of the Crawley informal settlement just outside Bushby protested after hearing the news about the new stadium. These protestors felt that the money spent on the new stadium was misused and should’ve been used instead to improve their area and other impoverished areas in and around Bushby. These protests have been peaceful so far.

Well, dat be al o’ de nuuz in de nation o’ Mandeka dis day. Meh can not wait tu go tu de new stadium.

I’m happy that this new stadium has opened, but I do think that it would’ve been better if that money was used to improve the situation in Crawley. I used to live there and my family still live there, and I can say that life there is very tough. Please government help my home!

Baslovian Woman Arrested for Criminal Possession after Failing to Turn Over Piece of Rocket
8-19-18

Early Friday morning, the National Police stormed a quiet neighborhood outside of Baslov. The target: A 62 year old Baslovian woman who had flaunted a picture of debris from the yet unexplained missile earlier this week.

The picture, which was taken down only minutes after being posted on Twitter, featured a burnt piece of metal with "Project XJ-1" painted onto it. She claimed that the debris had fallen into her yard after the missile exploded high above Mount Narshov. The raid came only an hour after the photo was removed.

Debates have since raged in Parliament regarding "Project XJ-1", how it had been funded, and what its purpose was. Finally, after some debate, the opposition introduced a bill: The Information Release Act of 2018 or IRA2018.

"The IRA2018 will attempt to force the Prime Minister and the Executive Branch to give us the answers we need." The Conservative Party leader, Arshlon Valmacid, said during its introduction. "Where did the money come from for this? Where did this actually launch from? What is the purpose of it? Are we secretly funding a Ballistic Missile Program while our infrastructure is breaking down and our debts continue to rise?"

The introduction was backed by the Islamic Socialist Party, part of the Vanguard coalition, which had concerns of its own.

"Not only has a missile exploded above our heads built and launched with funds from unknown sources, but there is a massive amount of evidence that we are funding and training a terrorist force in Orsandia!" Emin Vedat, the party head of the Islamic Socialist Party said in Parliament. "We must know what is being done with our money, with our military, and with our name. Cihangir must reveal this to us!"

The turn of the Islamic Socialist Party took many by surprise, but none more than Derya Nadire, the deputy Prime Minister and Vanguard Chairman while Atila Lutfi has been in hospital.

"This 'Information Release Act of 2018' is tantamount to treason!" Nadire said during his statement later that day. "It demands to know everything the government is doing no matter the needs for national security! If this passes, it will be tantamount to a coup!"

Others echoed the security concerns, but they were rebuffed by Emin Vedat quickly enough.

"Concerns regarding security are understandable, but unfounded. The information will only be given to Party Leaders as has been tradition for the last 65 years since the People's Republic's founding. Unless Members of Parliament is insinuating that party leads, the bedrock of our political system, cannot be trusted, then there is nothing threatening regarding this information."

As the debates dragged on in rare weekend sessions of Parliament, the world's eyes are on Orsandia, watching with bated breath as the PLF win in Lihai and are massing for another campaign.

"The PLF won a crucial victory in Lihai," a Member of Parliament said under conditions of anonymity. "Some people are wondering how long the Orsandian Government can last."

Though the MP declined to say who had said this, it shows the attitude in Parliament is optimistic for the PLF.

21 Catholic Ilsans and Miklanians to face sentence for "proselytism activities"

Image
Sunday meeting at a local Chepangic Church.

ARUN VALLEY

Magarati authorities have arrested 16 Ilsan and 5 Miklanian citizens in Chempujong, Arun Valley for alleged Catholic missionary activities. Proselytism is a crime in the Athara Magarati Democratic Hangate and carries a punishment of up to five years in prison and a fine of USD 450 per individual accused. While almost all of Athara Magarat's 5.5 million citizens are free to practice religion of "their choice", the religious activities of foreigners are strictly regulated due to fears of proselytism and unauthorized meetings of religions that are not among the 90 faiths registered with the Magarati government.

Once a Catholic majority island, most of the 1.3 million Christians in Athara Magarat now identify as Whindists, Nyssic Christians or belong to the local syncretic sects such as the Chepangic Church. Catholicism was brought to Kaski island by missionaries from San Jimenez and became mainstream after the death of 11th Century martyr Saint Phalgunanda. Major Khas-Kirati tribes like the Chepangs and the Pun clans of the Four Kham Horde had fully converted to Catholicism by the next century. It was not until in the 17th and the 18th Century's large influx of evangelists from Miklania, Belle Ilse en Terre, Dragao do Mar, Torom to the Magarati Colonial Realms (MCR) and various "unfortunate incidents" related to them that proselytism came to be banned. Many Christians, Buddhists and Muslims guilty of "proselytism" were exiled to the colonies by the MCR governors and this is specially evident as most of the Magarati-descent people in other Isles nations are predominately Christian, Buddhist or Muslim while much of the Athara Magarati population still follows the shamanistic traditions of their ancestors.

The authorities state that the arrested Miklanian and Ilsan Catholic group had also violated the "1-km rule". Under Magarati law, so as to ensure equal development, institutions such as schools, hospitals, libraries, hotels, "religious shrines" and so on cannot be built within 1 km of one another. "The Chempujong area in Arun Valley already has a Catholic church. The accused were about to set up another Catholic Church within 1 km of it." A spokesman for the Arun Valley Police Department stated.

However, leaders from the opposition Armajaist Party and the Progressive Alliance of various communist forces were of the view that the Jrm Hangma administration was "punishing" Ilsan and Miklanian citizens for their respective governments' recent hostilities with the Athara Magarati Democratic Hangate. "One can obviously say that this is a political issue disguised under the name of anti-proselytism law to gain public support in humiliating the Ilsan or Miklanian governments with underhanded tactics. Why are they not acting against Catholic priests from Torom or Dragao do Mar here if this was not a political issue?" A leader of the Progressive Alliance's Workers Party told the Libang Herald.

Analysts of the situation agree that the 16 Ilsans and 5 Miklanians will most likely face 5 years of prison plus fines or be deported under pressure from their respective governments.

Making unrecycled plastic bottles more expensive
20 August 2018

The government plans to make bottles produced with recycled plastic cheaper than bottles made from virgin plastic and will further tighten regulation on plastics use, a government minister said.

Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sarina Poole told the Merry Front that Renai also plans to increase taxes on landfill and reduce value-added tax on recycling activities. President Harper Lynton had met National Assembly leaders during the weekend to discuss the policy rolled by the Environment Ministry.

The move is expected to boost for Merhionian recycling firms and play to liberal supporters of the administration who have become more aggressive with their campaign to tighten environmental regulations in the country.

Poole said that in order to channel more plastic waste towards recycling, Merhion will introduce a discount-premium system worth up to 10 percent of the price of a product in order to encourage consumers to recycle.

Anti-Nyssic movement struggles amid rising pressure from Curia and Noronica
Jamie Causcicus, The Servator | 20th August 2018

Image
Pro-independence and anti-Nyssic activists take part in a march marking a week since last week's demonstrations

It was only a week that thousands gathered near regional corporate and government headquarters in the heart of Segovia for an energetic rally in support of independence from the 'subtle control' of Noronica.

Today such scenes are unthinkable in with the blood and debris cleared from the streets, as Nolon ramps up pressure on any challenge to the Curia's authority.

The crackdown on so-called independence campaigners has seen activists barred from standing for office and ejected from the Curia's partially elected legislature. Universities have warned students not to advocate for anti-Nyssic and independence campaigns on campus, describing it as unconstitutional.

And with its most popular figure, 26-year-old Simon Peng, facing up to 10 years in prison over clashes with police last week, the movement is now leaderless.

But while morale is at an all-time low, clandestine pockets of campaigning persist.

Groups who spoke with the Servator said they meet in secret out of concern for their safety. Some said their members had been followed and intimidated by men who would not say who sent them. They use encrypted communication channels and security measures such as multi-factor authentication, and prefer to meet face-to-face for sensitive discussions.

At the University of Nova Lantea, students are setting up an underground "research group" on the independence and race issue. Organisers say it aims to foster a sense of local identity and to remove taboos around the issue. Between 30 and 40 people have signed up and the membership list is closely guarded.

One student leader, who gave his name as Wilson, told the Servator young people must be prepared for "revolution" in the face of a local government loyal to Nolon.

Promoting independence per se is not a crime under Alteran law and activists see the suppression of advocacy as a breach of freedom of speech guaranteed by the city's mini-constitution, which grants rights unseen on the mainland.

"When this government keeps incriminating independence, we need to say even more that it is not a crime, but a way out for Alteran people in the future," Wilson said.

The independence movement's struggles come at a time of malaise and fragmentation in the wider democracy camp.

Calls for a 'true-split' from Noronica grew out of the increase instability seen in Noronica, to win political reform as some activists grew tired of peaceful protest. Their message called for more drastic action, with some even speaking of laying down their lives for the cause.

Pro-independence and condemned group 'Altera for Alterans', which says it has over 3000 members, organises weekly physical training including how to "quickly subdue" opponents in the event of confrontations, a convenor who gave his name as Louis told the Servator.

But campaigners such as ousted lawmaker Hans Zou-Lo - who has visited university campuses to discuss independence - admit they lack a cohesive strategy.

"(The students) all have a question in common: what can we do to push this thing? Everyone is seeking an answer but no one can give them that yet," he told the Servator.

Traditional democrats have disavowed what they see as nihilistic young radicals, who in turn reject the mainstream opposition as ineffective.

Public sympathy has also waned: a poll conducted by MyGov last year showed support for independence had dropped from 17.4 per cent in 2016 to 11.4 per cent.

There are some who accuse the movement of being an invention of establishment forces, designed to give authorities an excuse for a wider crackdown on political freedoms, as well as allow for increased involvement of Noronica.

Activists call the conspiracy theories a smear.

At the same time, authorities are eager to lump together varied opposition figures and groups and label them pro-independence - and therefore unacceptable.

Pro-democracy campaigner and law professor Alicia Quing, who says she does not support independence, recently earned an official rebuke from the Alteran government and Noronica state media for discussing the topic at a human rights forum in Norstham.

Leading democracy activist Angella Chew, who does not campaign for independence but whose party supports self-determination for ethnic Alterans, was recently barred from standing for office.

"In the eyes of the Curia, if you fight for democracy, you are fighting for independence," he said. "They want total control for Nyssicans."

TATTA ON WELLSIA: "DO THEY TAKE US FOR FOOLS?"

SHUHAKALLU - Following the statements made by Wellsian Overprocurator Lord Oswald Bastable on Monday last week, 'AT Hitap Tatta has again stepped forward to condemn the Wellsian handling of the failed nuclear bomb test last month.

"Let us look past the Wellsian rhetoric as presented by Lord Bastable," Tatta stated to the press this morning. "Let us ask the pressing question: do they take us for fools? Do they take the international community as a group that can so easily have the wool pulled over their eyes? This is an outrage, and proper answers continue to be denied to us."

Tatta specifically condemned the internal investigations of the Wellsian government, referring to them as "magnets for bias and propaganda". Tatta claimed that much of the information found by the investigations was "overly convenient to the Wellsian government".

"If we had the resources, we would join in any investigation pursued by the international community," Tatta said. "Unfortunately, the best we can do is plead with our friends and neighbours abroad to dig deeper before this goes further. The Charbagnians may or may not be involved, but I have no doubt that there is more at play here than we have been led to believe."

CARMO, CORINDIA - There's a quality every great football team carries, and that's the ability to succeed even when the odds are stacked against them. With a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Townside in the Isles Cup, the Cosie national team showed that they have what it takes to earn a spot in that esteemed sporting pantheon. Thanks to a heavy dose of talent, determination, and the tournament's most shameless diving attempt yet, the Crocs managed to overcome a Townside team that were so close yet so far from a victory themselves.

There looked to be no jitters among the Cosian squad when they arrived at Corindia's National Dome, though they didn't seem all that interested in prepping themselves for a high-stakes match either. The two nations competing in this match were something of a study in opposites: Cosie's players kept fooling around with one another during the pregame ceremony, whereas Townside's players were all business all the time, even during the customary handshake.

There wasn't much action to note throughout the first half. Much of Cosie's possession was spent dribbling aimlessly with the ball while waiting for somebody on Townside's end to try and intercept them. Whenever it was Townside's turn to take possession, their valiant efforts to send the ball up for their striking duo never seemed to bear fruit.

One thing to note, though, was Townside left-back Hayden Haywood getting booked for an excessive tackle on Cosian winger Asric Casan. Haywood's next foul would prove to be the catalyst for Cosie's golden opportunity late in the second half.

Before that golden opportunity arrived, however, the Crocs had to survive a sudden onslaught of offensive pushes courtesy of Townside's players. After the tepid first half between both teams, the Townside squad apparently decided to show far more spirit to start the second half. Cosian keeper Roman Dubois was keeping himself on his toes, having been forced to make 3 saves in the first 2 minutes of the half.

Dubois's teammates, on the other hand, had a hard time adjusting to the match's sudden change in tempo. Cosian players found themselves getting carded left and right by a referee who was zealously looking for fouls to book. Even minor offenses like Cosie's Ross Donrick elbowing Dan Mallory in the gut lead to the defensive midfielder seeing yellow.

Attempts to get Cosian striker Royce Funan involved in the run of play have also proven somewhat futile. Cosie's midfielders kept finding their passes intercepted by Townside's formidable center-back duo in Davey Welch and Chesley Bryson. Funan, who had been spotted at a Corindian nightclub the day before, did his teammates no favours as he took his sweet time getting himself into more obvious attacking positions.

The Crocs were lucky to weather the storm their opponents were bringing to them. Cosian right back Bruce Hines-Bocarty stayed close to his center-back teammates to ensure no Townside player would be able to enter the box from any angle. Cosie's harried defense almost lead to them conceding a penalty in the 74th minute; substitute Dimitri Correa must be thankful that his two-footed tackle on Owen Ruggles took place outside the penalty area.

Alas, fate was cruel to the Townsiders, for they would end up conceding a penalty in the 84th minute through no fault of their own. To Cosie, however, that meant a golden opportunity to break the deadlock, and they have Asric Casan to thank for that.

Unlike the rest of his team, the Cosian winger had been turning in a strong performance, lighting up Townside left-back Hayden Haywood whenever the two were face-to-face. Unfortunately, the crosses he made in the past 80 minutes had all failed to find anyone in white-and-teal; Casan decided to use his next run with the ball to make a dash straight into the box. Haywood tried to home in on the Cosian winger as he stepped into the penalty area.

It was at that point that Casan decided to flail his arms wide and leap butt-first onto the ground. Haywood stared at him dumbfounded as the referee halted play. Now, most sane referees would have caught on to Casan's act and book the winger for his blatant dive. This whistle-happy ref fell for Asric's antics, however, and awarded Cosie the penalty. To rub salt into Townside's wound, Haywood was shown a second yellow, forcing him out of the match and leaving Townside ten men down.

It was left to striker Royce Funan to convert the penalty against Townside keeper Beaumont Hargrave. Even in his hungover state, Cosie's Royce Funan had enough in him to fire a shot into the upper-left corner of the net; Hargrave was unlucky not to get his fingertips on the ball. The successful penalty saw Cosie going up 1-0.

Townside's misfortune was Cosie's lucky break, as the Crocs managed to hold on to their lead til the end of the match. The dejected Townsiders refused to shake hands with their Cosian counterparts post-match, and Townside supporters made sure that Asric Casan could feel their collective scowls burned into him. For Cosie's supporters, however, it was another cause for celebration; they're looking to enjoy the Crocs' winning streak for as long as possible, even if those wins weren't all clean.

It's a wonderful thing to see Cosie at the top of their group after the second round of Isle Cup matches. The Crocs will be hoping to make a perfect run in the group by taking the last three points available from Dormill & Stiura at The Colosseum of Corindia. Elsewhere, Townside are hoping to keep their chances of progressing alive with a win over San Jimenez, though even a win won't guarantee the Townsiders would make it through.

Until then, 'Mon De Crocs!

The Southern Sea
Funcian-Iosilian Joint Inspection Team Sent to Wellsia

Image
Inspectors at a Wellsian Place of Interest

By Katie Sizemoore August 20, 2018 Image

FUNCAN, Funce — On August 20, officials from Iosnil and Funce assembled a staff of 122 people which includes 52 inspectors and investigators to be sent to Wellsia as an effort to increase international involvement in the issues currently surrounding Wellsia. This comes after tremendous pressure was being applied on Wellsia to increase its transparency on its nuclear issue and encouragement for the international community to take part in the issue. The Funcian-Iosilian Joint Inspection Team (FIJIT)'s main priorities are to locate and identify pieces of valuable evidence within the cave system and airfield, review any previously gathered evidence, work closely with the Wellsian investigation team, and review satellite footage of the area.

From there, FIJIT and the Wellsian team with work together to draw conclusions on where to head the investigation using evidence gathered. It's likely FIJIT will extend the investigation, or open a separate one, to look into Wellsia's malpractices and incompetencies concerning this issue and how it was allowed to develop for so long. This could mean that various political figureheads of the Wellsian governmental body could be questioned and indicted for crimes. FIJIT correspondent Michael Karp says they will also be extensively looking into transactions between Charbagian entities and Wellsian entities to further track targets involved in the production of this weapon.

SAHURA KABANARAN - 22/08/2018 - 1:08 PM

Police forces deployed in the capital after repeated clashes

Image
Bhinnekan Police tried to control the mass after riots broke out after

BHINNEKA: Police forces have been deployed around the strategic point of Bhinneka after a massive demonstration by tens of thousands of Samuderan college students against President Susanto and his administration turned ugly yesterday (21/08) as anarchists burned police cars and clashed with officers, who responded with tear gas and water cannon.

The ugly scenes - just metres from the Revolutionary Palace, where the President resides, - marred an otherwise peaceful rally against President Susanto, who was blatantly accused of many ‘scandals’ that have been disseminated by his political enemies.

Police had earlier declared the much-hyped demonstration against President Susanto, in which almost 30,000 protesters gathered at the capital’s Independence Monument before taking to the streets in a huge show of force, a largely peaceful affair.

As night fell thousands of anarchists turned violent, setting police cars ablaze and attacking officers who hit back with tear gas, water cannon, and truncheons.

Authorities took no chances in the lead up to the protest, deploying 30,000 officers and extra soldiers across Bhinneka amid fears that anarchists could infiltrate the march.

The demonstration appeared to be dying down by dusk as thousands begin leaving the protest zone around the Revolutionary Avenue, the Revolutionary Palace, and the Independence Monument.

But by nightfall riot police were put to the test as mobs of anarchists, draped in the black uniforms favoured by anarchist groups who claimed to fight for the people, ran amok, hurling bottles, stones and lighting fires as officers used shields for cover.

The protest was a follow up of the eight previous demonstration, in their failed struggle to impeach the President and his administration for various unproven scandals. Political enemies alike disseminated this information, hoping to brought down the President’s administration.

President Susanto denied all the allegations that had implicated him, but his opponents have built a groundswell of support calling for his impeachment and trials under the nation’s Constitution.

“This is nonsense. The President has done a wonderful job during his one-year tenure, yet people make a fuss over some menial things,” Minister of Home Affairs Ahmad Firdaus, a prominent minister, told the press earlier Friday.

The military warned it was ready to back police if things turned ugly, with helicopters flying low over the city and extra soldiers stationed at key government buildings reinforced with razor wire and armoured vehicles.

Some foreign embassies warned their citizens to steer clear of the demonstration.

The Grand People’s Assembly has resumed its debate on the topic of the impeachment of the President, led by the SCGAD, its former ally. PSS (Samuderan Socialist Party), is naturally opposed to such move, including its ally, the Workers’ Party and Red Moon Party. It has been agreed that a fact-finding committee will be formed to investigate the scandals that implicated the President, though who will fill the committee is still debated.

AAe to seek partners for new 8-11 airliner
Beverly Song, The Servator | 21st August 2018

Image
The new airliner would be set to replace the ageing, but successful, 4-11 Series

Alteran Aerospace is developing a new airliner. No surprises there, but what is surprising is that it will be replacing their biggest seller - the AAe 4-11. They are targeting 2019 for a new series of passenger aircraft, aiming to dominate the 120 to 240+ seater market.

The company made its debut announcement as the partly state-owned company tasked with developing the country’s first large commercial aircraft of the 21st Century, the 8-11 Series.

The AAe 8-11 Series will be a planned 120-240 seat narrow-body airliner, with possible variants extending the aircraft for an exit capacity of 300 passengers. The 8-11 Series is planned to replace many of the 4-11 Series aircraft, as well as compete with airliners produced, such as Miklania's Boering 930 Series, Norstham's A-740 and Corindia's NC50.

Alteran Aerospace seems to be wishing to cut costs in the development of this aircraft, hosting bids to Alteran and other national companies to supply components and construct parts of the aircraft - rather than keeping most of the construction in-house, as with the 3-11 and 4-11 Series.

Up for bidding is the development and supplying of:

  • Power units (though it is likely AAe has earmarked Miklania's Prance-Royce as the primary contractor)
  • On-board computing systems
  • Wheels and brakes
  • Wings, tail and associated flaps
  • Fuel and hydraulics systems

Navigation systems and other avionics will be developed by AAe and Caelius Dynamics, with Oakoms Aerospace refusing to take part as it focuses on the O.141 and upcoming O.144 airliners.

Design and assembly of the aircraft will be done in Nova Lantea and Ludlum, initially using foreign-made jet engines. However, Alteran Aerospace has expressed its desire to eventually produce a locally-made engine for the 8-11, possible using engines supplied by Oakoms.

Dimensions of the 8-11 are very similar to other narrow bodied airliners, possibly to allow for a common pallet to be used. Its fuselage will be 3.7 metres wide, and 3.95 metres high. The wingspan will be over 35 metres, or 36.4 metres if winglets are included.

Payload will be 20.4 metric tonnes. Its cruise speed will be Mach 0.785 and it will have a maximum altitude of 12,100 metres.

There will be a number of variants to account for different seating capacities - but each version will have a standard and extended range version. The standard version will have a range of around 5,000 km, with the extended-range version able to fly up to 7,000 km.

The 8-11 Series is AAe's second aircraft since the beginning of the 21st century, following the development of its smaller 3-11 series aircraft. However, the company's airplane building experience goes back decades. The company's Ludlum division developed the successful 4-11 wide-bodied airliner, which still stands as the region's most popular commercial aircraft.

According to the manufacturer, the 8-11 is to be constructed with advanced aluminum lithium alloys and composite materials.

Currently, despite its early development status, the 8-11 has several hundred combined orders from Alteran airline companies, with many more expected to be ordered over the next 20 years.

AAe expects the 8-11 to make its maiden flight sometime next year.
