Department Head of Foreign Relations Leon Muscov Found Guilty of Corruption - Publicly Executed in the Capital

Lean Muscov, the Head of Foreign Relations for the Empire, had been discovered earlier this month of embezzling appropriated government funding towards his department for his own personal gain. Upon this discovery, Imperial Police apprehended the corrupt official and searched his belongings. Further evidence of this theft was found after the search, and his guilt was made clear. Earlier today, Muscov was sent to Poysk and publicly executed by a firing squad made up of five members of the Imperial Guard.

The man who reported him, Hawke Popov, has been awarded a medal of national patriotism, and promoted to the new Head of Foreign Relations by the Empress herself.

The Empress made no statement, prompting Popov to explain his view of the scenario.

The process of handling this treason was quick and effective, and I would expect nothing less from our Empire. I believe the Empress saw her actions as louder than her words, as thousands attended the event today. It is a day of celebration, and proof that all are equal in the eyes of the law. That treasonous man would have gotten away with his crimes just ten years ago, and I am proud of the changes that have been made to our wonderful country.

GRAND FAIR SOON TO BEGIN
Image

Another year has passed since the last autumn season, and now, the nation's famous Grand Fair will begin this weekend. Preparations have already been setup in multiple sites around the country for the country's biggest even of the year. Many towns and homes are already filled with decorations and colors and many seem to be excited; some are excited to see their relatives from abroad, others for the festivities, and some seem to be ecstatic over the food to be sold.

The biggest attractions this year are located in Shelna, with multiple public spaces and convention centers closed for the Fair, with a parade to happen on each day of the Fair with a variety of street dances each day. There are as well many other small events to participate in across the city and many other towns. With last year's success, many are hoping that this year, the festival will keep its prowess, but this year, it may not be so.

Escalating violence and wars over the region are said to bring down the amount of visitors to the Fair and extremely strict regulations have been put on the main areas of celebration in response, and many people have said that this year's Fair feels more odd than others with a fear of attack on such a big celebration could happen any moment, but some are still keeping their heads high that the Grand Fair will be enjoyed by if not all, at least most of the attendees. So, hope you will be there this year and enjoy the many festivities this year's Grand Fair has to offer.

Second Debate Results Compiled, Cedar Dyson and Philippine Lémieux tie for victory

We unfortunately have to report that, though the Third Debate was scheduled to take place today, the War against Balnik has lead to the postponement of the debate. We will instead rebroadcast the Second Debate's Moderated Section here.
Moderator: Good Evening and Welcome to the Chery Expo Center in the beautiful city of Chery! We are glad to have our candidates return in light of recent event to attend this most respected tradition for the Presidential race. Today, the format of our debate will consist of one hour of moderated debate followed by another hour of a moderated town hall, where the audience will ask the candidates any question they view of importance. The moderated questions for this debate will be: Has the situation with the Federation of Balnik gone out of hand?, Should the Federal Republic consider developing the South of the nation in light of the recent drug outbreak that is “Buzz”?, and What industries do you see, or wish to see, becoming dominant in the Dormill-Stiuraian Economy in the next 10 years?
-applause-
Please join me in welcoming, once again, the Presidential Candidates, Mrs. Bertille Bellerose of the Liberal Party, Diplomatic Manager for the Argus Region and Most Honorable Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United People of Xrevaro, Mr. Windsor Leblanc, the Most Honorable Mr. Philippine Lémieux of the Liberal Party, Minister of the Treasury, Mr. Luus Fay of the Conservative Party, Mr. Justin Abraham of the Center-National Party, and finally Mr. Cedar Dyson of Dormill and Stiura Forwards!.
-applause-
Candidates, welcome. I hope you all are doing well considering recent events. Let’s make this a clean and productive debate tonight.

Moderator: We will begin with Mr. Lémieux tonight. Your honor, Do you believe that war is inevitable with the Federation of Balnik?

Mr. Lémieux: As much as I hate to admit it, I don’t feel as if the current administration is willing to back down from their current posture. Balniki soldiers did “invade” diplomatically protected territory under the administration of Dormill and Stiura, and backing down now would put us at a disadvantageous position when negotiations begin. Hopefully we don’t need to do much fighting to convince them that war is not a good means of getting recompense for actions committed 30 years ago.

Mr. Abraham: The Balniki deserve to be put in their place, they threatened our diplomats in Rustov for something that happened over a generation ago. Why should we be concerned about negotiating when they’ve made it abundantly clear that negotiations will only happen when we surrender or we force them to surrender themselves. We should be ramping up our forces to completely take down their fascist regime just as will likely happen in the South Mesder in a matter of days.
Mr. Dyson: We should’ve gone to the League before acting so unilaterally, we risk destabilizing our relationship with Gael at a crucial moment where the Republic is nearly ready to return to the world stage after the Civil War. However, I doubt that the Balmiki leaders would’ve been compliant to anything the League demanded, but at the very least we should have coordinated with our partners in the area on a joint response to this event.

Mrs. Bellerose: I can’t agree with any of you here, war should never have been an option in the first place. We should just turn our navy around and find another way to rescue our ambassador without unnecessary bloodshed. Dormill and Stiura cannot afford to get itself entangled in a war for at least another 10 years else we risk total economic collapse.

Mr. Fay: And what do you think the alternative would look like, Mrs. Bellerose? Would you have our people kowtow to the Balniki who think that threatening us is a viable form of diplomacy? I think not! Action should be taken lest we become the laughing stock of the entire region that anybody can push around with a mere threat to our citizens.

Mr. Leblanc: I’m more surprised none of you have even looked at why this happened. Take a good long look people! Seriously. All of you are complete idiots! The reason we had this happen is because the terrible Stuber Administration though it would be “better for fostering international cooperation” that we establish an embassy with Balnik. And now we have his descendents in President Richelieu and the honorable Mrs. Bellerose thinking we can negotiate with these barbarians. I say we close our embassy, get our people out, and leave the Balniki to rot like they deserve.

Moderator: Welcome back from the break, up next we will start with Mr. Dyson, Should the Federal Republic consider developing the South of the nation in light of the recent drug outbreak that is “Buzz”?

Mr. Dyson: Regardless of the situation with Buzz, the southern states should be at the core of new infrastructure efforts. In years gone past it was the grand works of Launey, Stiura Hall, and Rattenberg that fueled the great ports of Altegene, Chery, and Kapolder. The Buzz situation has made it even more clear that we must look south again for our prosperity and we should do everything we can to bring prosperity back to the remainder of our great nation.

Mr. Leblanc: Let me guess, you’re suggesting this starry-eyed mission without a clear goal or even considering the impacts. The dreaming of this child has been nothing but annoying since you showed up to begin with. Why don’t you take a few years off and let the adults deal with this before you find yourself in over your head. The Stiuraians and the Kaelectians earned their respite for the Civil War and I say we should show them that they should try better to secure their own borders without having to suck off the teat of those who have earned their prosperity!

Mr. Lémieux: And it’s that same short-sighted thinking that has led the United Republics to the civil war in the first place. Stiuraians, Kaelectians, Dormillians, all citizens of our Republic should be treated with respect and it’s been clear this entire administration that is not the goal here. Stiuraians especially have been marginalized by their northern countrymen for a war that ended so long ago. These cases of Buzz are making things worse on an already strained law enforcement force and infrastructure that can no longer be ignored. Action must be taken before things get worse.

Mrs. Bellerose: We should also spend time investigating the causes of these issues, Mr. Lémieux. Yes, the situation regarding infrastructure is a principal part of this whole thing, but what else are we missing and must pay attention to in order to solve more systemic issues surrounding the entire area.

Mr. Fay: For once I have to agree with Mr. Lémieux. The Stiuraian citizens of our Republic have felt nothing but shame after the Civil War and all they have been asking for is another chance to prove themselves and restore the honor in being the second half of the greater whole that is Dormill and Stiura.

Mr. Abraham: We very much should be dedicating a lot of our attention to the development of the South, but we should also pay attention to the cost it will have on the average citizen, of both the north and the south. We should have our economy in order before we consider any Grand Infrastructure Projects the likes of our Liberal candidates would propose.

Moderator: Finally, Mrs. Bellerose, What industries do you see, or wish to see, becoming dominant in the Dormill-Stiuraian Economy in the next 10 years?

Mrs. Bellerose: Standing here now, I’ve had a lot of time to consider what direction our economy should take in the future, and I believe that the areas of greatest growth for our economy would not be in physical commodities as if things acted like they were back in the 1840’s, but rather, the economy will become fueled by more services and the distribution of our culture across the Isles. We should focus on expanding our trading networks with our allies and partners first and foremost before we work with … less savory potential partners.

Mr. Leblanc walks out of the stage for unknown reasons

Mr. Lémieux: Being Minister of the Treasury for 10 years now has shown me where our economy is going and where the growth will come from, and I am in the mind that a combination of both Manufacturing from the Southern States, of course reshaped to be much more environmentally friendly, combined with technological innovations from the Northern States will be the driving force for the Dormill-Stiuraian economy for decades to come. I would especially support as many technological innovations in our nation as possible both in our education and as an industry in and of itself.

Mr. Abraham: We also need to pay attention to the fact that there are many other nations in these fair Isles who would want nothing more than to economically subjugate Dormill and Stiura. We must be able to stand up to economic oppression by ensuring, before anything else, that our economy can operate with as little foreign investment and interference as possible. Through that, I expect all of our industries, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, technology, services, and so on to grow with a balanced budget that encourages domestic achievements first before foreign adoption.

Mr. Dyson: As of now, the economy of Dormill and Stiura has seen an unprecedented rise in productivity as a result of the expansion of our manufacturing industries and their close relation with our service industries. Under my administration, I will work to further capitalize on this growth while jointly reducing costs and the environmental impacts that these industries produce. Skills in Mathematics and Engineering will become vital for our citizens seeking jobs both at home and abroad and we should focus our efforts on giving our citizens the best possible opportunities for their careers.

Mr. Fay: Maybe they’re all looking at this from the wrong direction. Maybe we should focus on building our nation to be ready for not if the global markets collapse, but when they eventually will. Dormill and Stiura relies too greatly on foreign arms and foreign technology for our defense and I say that must end now. Under my administration, I will focus intensely on making Dormill and Stiura completely self-sufficient and capable of defending itself without any aid whatsoever.

Moderator: Since Mr. Leblanc has unfortunately left early, we won’t be able to hear his opinions on these matters. With that, we will switch to our forum debate.

The Townside Review
Royal Hall of Parliament, Townside

Parliament passes law to improve the legal system

The Grand Princes had given their joint assent to the Torts of Negligence Act 2017 and the Torts of Negligence (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2017, a week ago on 5 November, after its passage through the General Assembly and the Grand Council of Parliament. These Acts are to come into force tomorrow. Among its uses are to introduce principles of the tort of negligence into the Law of Townside. Townside, which has a common law legal system, has not had the opportunity to develop its own law due to the Anarchy and the Great War. Therefore, most of the provisions of the Act are being imported from overseas common law jurisdictions.

Already, the Acts has attracted criticism from both sides of the political debate, and from both the Grand Council and the General Assembly, for being "messy" and "ill-thought out".

"It is poorly worded and very unclear in it's provisions, and also deeply unorganised. I shudder to think what might happen to our legal system once it is in force," says Mr. Leon, an MP.

Mr. Aritza, the MP who introduced the two bills in the General Assembly of Parliament, defends the Acts.

"The people who criticise these laws are themselves not learned in the law, so they really do not have any intellectual basis on which they may constructively criticise the provisions beyond simplistic words churned up by the media for attention," he said to our parliamentary correspondent on Tuesday.

The Federation of Social Justice Warriors, the umbrella group for the far-left, have joined the fray of criticism, citing major concerns with the fact that the Act uses gendered pronouns such as 'he', 'him', 'she' and 'her'. The Federation stated they would have preferred the Acts to use gender neutral pronouns such as 'they' and 'it' in order to avoid offending those of a 'non-traditional' gender identity. The Federation confirmed they will be making attempts to storm the Royal Hall of Parliament in protest in the coming weeks.

Many far-right Townside nationalists have also criticised the Acts for importing foreign law, rather than creating new and unique provisions for the Law of Townside.

Meanwhile, tensions are brewing in the Royal Court of Townside as the new provisions were being inspected by the nation's highest judges. Already, Chief Justice Machado and Justice Windeyer of the Royal Court have disagreed on numerous occasions on how some of the provisions of the Act should apply. The other five judges of the Royal Court has tended to side with the younger Justice Windeyer, calling some to question the viability of Chief Justice Machado serving as the highest judge in Townside.

The Grand Princes and the rulers have declined to comment. Rightfully so, says our legal expert. New laws always garner criticism, even after going through the democratic process. It is expected and natural. Our legal expert suggests that the 'backlash' will blow over in a few days.

- Martin Cruz of the Townside Review, reporting.

Article V Petition Acquires Needed Signatures; Multiple General-Governorship Campaign Announcements

Today, the Christian Democrats leadership submitted an Article V petition with more than the required signatures needed to the Congress. Already, four individuals have announced their intentions on running for the General-Governorship. Current Governor-General Steven Hendriks announced his campaign for re-election after returning from his trip to the League Assembly. Contesting his bid for the Governor-Generalship, Marshal Hannah Althuis, a prominent BLP member of the Floor of Marshals and outspoken critic of Hendriks', announced her challenge to Hendriks nomination as the Civil Libertarian candidate. New Populist Party chairman Maikel Boerefijn announced his second run for the office shortly after Marshal Althuis. Finally, one of Governor-General Hendriks' most vocal critics' Leader Benedictus Nagel announced his campaign one hour after Boerefijn's announcement.

As this article is being written, the House of Delegates is debating on the election date, along with the Civil Libertarians, who are debating on the candidate election date.

Charbagnian Arrests After Leaked Military Images Surface

Watch: Armed Police breaking down the door of suspected Athara Magarati spy.

After the leak of several images taken of suspected Charbagnian military trucks carrying nuclear weaponry, there have been several arrests made by the Charbagnian Police including members of the Press and two spies. Three news outlets have been forced to allow Government oversight or face shutting down. This has caused panic in several cities with armed police taking a larger presence on the streets.

In the early morning around 9:00 AM, several leaked images of Charbagnian military trucks carrying what appeared to be nuclear missiles appeared on several news sites and the internet. No one in the international community and no local news sources in the Charbagnian Federation has claimed responsibility for the images. This has caused a large social media outcry, with several calling for war and others blaming the League's 'ineffectiveness in spotting this sooner'.

In response, the Charbagnian Police Force has been making hundreds of arrests of different suspected members of anti-government groups, members of the Press in Charbagnia and two suspected spies. There is a vastly increased presence of police in the streets and virtually every news outlet including the home of our Charbagnian Correspondent is being watched over by police. Three news outlets have all been forced to allow Government oversight or be shut down.

The two suspected spies have been named by the Charbagnian Government as Freddy Atton and Aakash Tamang. They both gave a joint press statement in which they gave their apologies and denunciations of their actions. Freddy Atton has been accused of being a Noronnican national while Aakash Tamang has been accused of being an Athara Magarati national. After their statements, they were involved in what has been accused of being 'show trials' by the Noronnican Prime Minister Joshua McIntosh. He also accused the Charbagnian Government of 'tearing down the foundations of democracy'.

Here is the released transcript of the official statement made by the alleged spies before their trials,

My name is [...],

I readily accept that I have caused a grievous offence to the Government of the Charbagnian Federation. I have conducted operations which have been deemed illegal by the Constitution of this Federation and I, therefore, submit to the consequences. Let it be known to the international community that the Charbagnian Federation conducts fair trials and gives justice to those who deserve it.

Thank-you.

The League investigators have also arrived earlier today in the capital city of Helmwerder, yet it is now unknown whether their recepetion shall be contested by the increasingly tightening grip of the Charbagnian Government.

|Lunes, South Jorenu, November 12, 2017|
Good evening, recently today hundreds gathered in Lunes, the regional capital of South Jorenu when President Canone was to give a speech for his presidential campaign. About an hour before his speech, dozens gathered to protest his defense of the Jimenean Church. This protest comes weeks after a church bombing that was intended to kill Cardinal Colquitt, the head of the Jimenean Church. During the course of the protest it never turned physically violent, however, the organizers have threatened that they would not hesitate to resort to it. All participants of the protest were dressed in black and white with some having hoods to cover their face. Police forces were on guard outside the capital building during the speech to keep the order maintained. President Canone did not address the protest at any time during his speech.

The leader of the protest has been identified as Pineda Acosta. He has made statements regarding the protest and he has indicated that it was organized by a coalition group called the "White Reformers". He has taken ownership of the organization but did not state or claim if it was the White Reformers who planned the church bombing weeks ago or if he had any part of the event. Authorities have also not released the motives for the attack but have released that the cardinal was intended to be killed. Acosta spoke at the protest before it was dispersed by police forces and he claimed that the only way "to silence the church is like silencing a snake, you must cut off the head." He has made it clear that the "White Reformers" are determined to silence the church in public affairs. Most believe that President Canone was targeted because of his friendliness with the church. As the investigation of the church bombing comes to a close and information is released, we will be able to report if the White Reformers are a threat to national security and a threat to the foundation of the Jimenean Church. We will continue to update you on the White Reformers and other stories that matter to you, thank you for choosing the Gran Teran Gazette.

Compromise Reached, Fillibuster of Buzz bill broken

November 12 2017,
Crystal City

Today the Buzz bill cleared the floor of COA by a narrow majority, breaking the Libertarain led filibuster against it. A compromise was reached between the two opposing forces. Instead of outlawing the production of certain harmful drugs the Buzz Bill, if passed into law, will create a list of substances the government has declared "explicitly dangerous". The government would launch a campaign discouraging the use of listed drugs, and give aid to charities that provide support to addicts. The bill would also strengthen rules against exporting harmful substances, and provide extra safeguards to prevent corruption from ever happening again. The bill is expected to pass COPAD, and Cheif Executive Renolds has expressed support for the bill. It was widely celebrated as a bipartisan compromise, although some critics said the final bill was dramatically watered down. Others complained it still had too much power, giving the government the ability to declared certain things harmful instead of leaving the decision up to citizens.

Minority militia and White Supremacist militia clash in street, 27 dead
Sigmund Ausfaller - Nov 12, 2017 6:56 PM

Image

SELENDIUM - Today, several members of two militias exchanged fire in the streets, killing 27. The fire fight continued on for three hours, well into the afternoon, before the National Guard managed to arrest or kill the militiamen. Although police have not commented about which militias the men belong to, Whites Rise has claimed responsibility for the battle.
The first shots were reportedly fired at 11:28 am, with some bystanders getting shot. Paramedics were unable to arrive on scene due to the violence. Police were unable to enter either. It took several hours before the National Guard could enter. During the time, several shots were fired. The street was only occupied by the militiamen. Eventually, the National Guard started firing at both sides. It took them half and hour to penetrate each militia's defences. Several days later, many people came to pay their respects to the victims. And, this is only a few weeks after the shooting at the Huahe Mall.
President Tramer denounced the attacks, calling them "unnecessary" and "unhelpful". Prime Minister Kaityn called them "horrid" and "deeply disturbing to the social fabric of Daskan multiculturalism". Premier Arbour was unavailable to comment, but his office did release a statement.
Selendium has and will always be a safe place to do business. Regardless, the Legislature is committed to the safety of the Selendian people. White supremacist ideologies have no place in our society.

This is the first street fight, since duelling was outlawed. Legislators promise a full crackdown on illegal arms selling.

As of this morning, the official election results are in. And we here at The Brovan Times are pleased to see the results. Now that President Gest has been inaugurated, what is next? Well, during his speech he mentioned a few things he will get to work on and a few have already been set underway.

Since the beginning, Gest has had laser focus on our economic policy and the badlands. His focus and dedication has payed off on both of these. As of today, The inhabitants of the Badlands will be granted amnesty to relocate to Ryker's Island off the coast of the nation. A small airstrip and port has been built there to accommodate the relocation, citizens of the badlands have until the new year to legally relocate. Since the badlands have technically no law, once someone living in the badlands steps into the neighboring provinces they would usually be wanted by the government but with the amnesty this criminality has been overlooked until January 1st.

Another big step towards improving our infrastructure has been made today. A bill has been through the senate and approved to close all open trade to every nation. All export and import tariffs have been raised 70% to every nation (unless specifically stated in a trade deal) except the close ally of Segentova. Along with this, a large chunk of the government budget has been redirected to the infrastructure of Bravo Rio. Many government funded constructions are already being submitted and awaiting approval.

Now that Gest is the new President of the nation, who will he select to serve with him in his government? Will he stick to his promises to weed out corruption and make keep our borders safe?

Mr. Hu and Ilya Yukinovic are expected to travel to National Nuclear Institution of Tianshan Sciences (commonly called Academy of Tianese Science) and greet Nuclear Scientists and supervise the construction of under-developed nuclear plants which may contribute to Tianshan's economy however it is rumored that the President noted "It is important that Tianshan is to develop strong personal relations with our southern neighbour and that way, we can learn from them and develop our own nuclear stations and possibly weaponry in hopes of defending our country." This spectacular development will surely further and deepen our relations with our most trusted ally, Combrekniza.

President Hu Tang has also signaled to the world, about Combreknizan - Tianese special relationship as "twos birds and pond to bathe in"

King Francis Prepares for diplomatic tour.

His Majesty, Francis II. And queen Annabelle opening the Parliament in 2016.

The Palace has in a press release anounced that the King intends on touring several international orgaisations, to which Segentova has either membership or is an active partner of. These include the League of the Western Isles (LTWI) and the Coalition of Free Nations (CoF) where he will appoint the new representatives of Segentova. The Release itself does not detail much more, other than that further information would be released after the king's return to Segentova.

I questioned Former Ambassador to Ainslie, Claude Chèrefber on the issue. Why now? Why appoint new representatives, wouldn't it be enough for His Majesty to show presence? The ancswe i crecieved.
"It's been quite obvious for a number of years now that our international representatives have been doing a poor job. I think His Majesty understands this and wishes to improve our standing among our fellow nations. On why exactly now? I have no concretre answer, but i assume as diplomatic relations recently have become tense, the King wishes to ensure the safety of the nation, nore that his request has been aproved of by a democratically elected body. From what i can tell after having worked in Government and Diplomacy for a number of yeears, now is that promotions, or demotions like these are usually accompanied by the personal failures of the individual to previousy hold said office."

Prime Minister Gais Prepares for Kavju-Southern Sea Trip

Image

The Palatine Manor has announced that Prime Minister Crassus Gais will be embarking on a 12 day working visit to countries located in the Kavju Sea and the Southern Sea. Director of Communication at the Palatine Manor Abigale Shaw expressed that the visit has been in planning since September and the Prime Minister and his team are prepared for the trip scheduled to begin on Friday. Ms. Shaw spoke to the CBC earlier during the day.

The Prime Minister will be visiting 5 countries located in the Kavju Sea area and the Southern Sea area. These countries are Atriano, Corindia, Eurania, Tectonix, and West Suomi. The visit will be the first multinational state trip for Prime Minister Gais where it is the hope of the Prime Minister and by extension the government of Covonant to bolster and improve relations with nations in the Kavju Sea area and strengthen ties among the democratic countries in the Southern Sea area.

Ms. Shaw notes that many issues will be raised over the 12 day trip, primarily issues concerning diplomacy, investment, defense and the Cooperative Union.

Each country that the Prime Minister will be visiting is unique and dependent on the country will result in what will be discussed. From our overview we know that in Eurania talks of investment will arise as we observe the country liberalising their economy, Covonant looks to play an integral role in certain sectors by investing, so investment will be a key point raised, in West Suomi the Prime Minister is looking to strengthen ties to the country among other matters that will be addressed which I cannot state presently. The Prime Minister visit to Tectonix will see the CU be a high talking point especially with Covonant looking to remove itself from the bloc as well as a strengthening of ties between both countries. We expect for his visit to Corindia to be a very important visit and in fact will be a longer visit than the other countries lasting roughly 3-4 days where the Prime Minister will be focusing primarily on defense issues as well as policy issues concerning the EUSR (Communist East), Charbagnia as well as the whole issue of imperialistic tendencies being showcased by the EUSR. Also the same issues will be raised in Atriano but we expect more talks on the country's intent of developing nuclear armament will be raised.

The time period for the countries are as follows:

Eurania-Nov 17-19

Tectonix-Nov 19-21

West Suomi-Nov 21-23

Atriano-Nov 23-25

Corindia-Nov 25-28

As the Prime Minister prepares for his 12 day trip to the east, political commentators have sought to reasoned the Prime Minister's intent at a trip to the east. CBC Political Analyst Mikael Stokes expressed that the Prime Minister in going on a trip to the east suggest Covonant's interest and hoping of having a stronger relation and presence in the area.

This is not the first Covonantian Prime Minister to have a multinational trip to the east in fact just last year Prime Minister Imperatus Marl embarked on his eastern trip. The east stands as a very important area for Covonant and Covonant's interest where it has a predominantly larger non-democratic state presence than anywhere else in the region and the Prime Minister identifies that as a threat to Covonant's interest abroad. This was the same reason former PM Marl went to the east in 2016. We think for this time around it is Covonant's intent to tie those democratic states to the the west and the west meaning Mesder democratic states and western institutions. This visit has undertones of striking the Communist East and really getting Covonant closer to the EUSR in a frightening way. We expect to hear countries denounce support of the Communist East as well as military policies drafted to respond to the Union as well as to their recent takeover of the Kachee Republic. Charbagnia also comes to mind which is why the Prime Minister is looking to visit Atriano. No Covonantian PM have visited Atriano since now and we have every reason to believe Charbagnia is the reason. We await to see the development of the visits but I am confident that it has little to do with diplomacy and more of safeguarding Covonantian interest in the sub-region and having a presence towards the EUSR

The Prime Minister leaves Coventry for Eurania on Friday. The CBC will be sure to provide the updates on the visits as they happen.

ELectoral Commission Get New Date for CU Referendum

Image

The Consul has approved a request by the Covonantian Electoral Commission for a new date to hold the Cooperative Union Referendum that would signify whether Covonant remains or leave the political-economic bloc. The request came after Director of Election Stephen Stewart expressed technical issues with having the referendum held on the 9th of November.

We are pleased that the Consul has taken into consideration our call for a change of date in holding a referendum to determine our place in the Cooperative Union. The November 9th date was not realistic noting the technical issues we face as well as the training programme of electoral staff needed to conduct the referendum. Technical issues that we faced was the ballot papers not being sufficient in the time that we may need it as well as an update to our electoral system following the general election held in July

The new date set by the Consul is January 10, 2018.

Prime Minister Gais Orders Combrekniza to Open Canal and Improve Canal Security

Image

Prime Minister of Covonant Crassus Gais is today urging the Combrekniza President to reopen the Canal and put in place proper security mechanism to prevent a recurrence of insurgents attacking the Canal. Prime Minister Gais expressed that the Canal served as an important gateway for the economic vitality of the Mesder.

I am calling on the President of Combrekniza to reopen the canal. While Covonant understands the severity of the crisis that occurred a prolonged closure of the canal will have devastating effect on Covonant's economy and we will not sit by and allow for that to happen. The canal serves as a monumental gateway that supplies the economic vitality of Covonant and other Mesder state.

The Prime Minister is also calling for the Combrekniza government to privatise the canal or have the league mandate its operation.

It is evident that a socialist state such as Combrekniza does not have the interest of the Mesder at heart and Covonant is infuriated that this country would make overt attempts to restrict free trade and free movements of goods from making passage. We do not care under what circumstances the Combreknizan government believes the canal must be closed. If there is matters of insurgency get the military to weed them out provide greater security to the canal but to close it is a grave mistake and Covonant declares that it be reopened indefinitely. I would advise the Combreknizan government to privatise the canal. I am sure Covonantian investors would be more than eager to take over its operation and provide the well needed security or even the league oversee its operations

The Prime Minister expressed that the situation is being monitored and actions may be taken if the Combreknizan government fail to reopen the canal.

I think I can speak for all Mesder states when I say we will not allow a country to hold our economic activity at gunpoint. We the states of the Mesder area that benefits so greatly from the canal must come together and work out a policy that works in our interest pertaining to the canal. In the meantime I am calling for its immediate reopening and failure to do so, Covonant will be forced to act.

Amidst escalating tensions, Renaut calls for a measured approach.
Kevera, Keverai

Image
Image: Renaut outside of the press conference building in Kevera

Today the newly elected leader Burnell Renaut held one of his first press conferences as a sworn in Chief Consul of Keverai. He addressed many domestic issues including a further reduction in labour regulation laws but what really was an outlier was the appearance of international issues throughout his response. Our colleagues here at Darene Madara questioned Renaut about the escalating tensions in the Southern Canal. His response was as follows:

“Obviously we are deeply concerned about the matter of the Southern Canal. It is a major vessel of our trade in Keverai and its stability is a priority for my administration. We are troubled by the lack of the ability on the part of the Combreknizans to maintain security of a vital asset of theirs, and would like to formally request for the league to intervene in this matter. We cannot have leaders here and there, directing their forces into the region unilaterally like some board game. There must be a measured response, built on the fundamentals of multilateralism, if we are going to see a positive outcome.”

He continued by outlining what Keverai could do to help a solution to manifest.

“Whilst we do support multilateralism, we are willing to open our ports to any and all security forces dedicated to protecting that canal. It is of as much interest to us, if not more interest, than the Combreknizans to keep it safe and operational.”

The recent Tianshan-Combreknizan nuclear collaboration efforts have also been a major point of concern with Renaut’s PiP government today releasing a statement on the matter.

“We are deeply troubled by the actions of Combrekniza and Tianshan. Whilst under the disguise of nuclear power projects, we are curious of the possibility that it could be beyond this - Combrekniza does have a nuclear arsenal and they are not a nation who would refuse to launch them.”

Until next time.

INTERNATIONAL: FM Gifford strikes large deal with Bravo Rio
Arnton, Ainslie and Port Blair, Bravo Rio

Eleane Gifford, foreign minister of Ainslie today returned from Port Blair, in Bravo Rio after a three day visit to the nation. Gifford held bilateral conversations with Isaac Gest, the new president of the nation, following the assassination of their former leader. She discussed the recent changes with the new head of state, including the amnesty allowing for relocation and the punitive new tariffs on all imports into the nation. She also pursued various miscellaneous steps to collaboration between the two nations. Gifford, upon return, hosted a press conference in Arnton to allow the media to receive a government stance on the various matters discussed.

“It was an incredibly productive conversation with President Gest in Bravo Rio and although we have ideological differences on some major points, both of us are willing to demonstrate tolerance and push ahead in raising the standards of living in our two nations mutually.”

Gifford also sought the reversal of domestic legislation in the nation which would place 70% tariffs on Ahnslen imports, and Bravan exports to Ainslie. The foreign minister announced that this will not go forward, but rather a 15-20% tariff on goods will apply. Both participants mutually agreed to lower these tariffs further in the mineral extraction and pharmaceutical industries, to meet growing consumer demand for these products in the two nations.

Major infrastructure projects have been announced in Bravo Rio, with Ahnslen construction companies as well as the transnational Fortitude Conglomerated receiving contracts to build various structures around the nation. Additionally, Ainslie will also send specialists to the nation in order to aid in Gest’s efforts to root out corruption, and they will also act as observers of these processes.

Ainslie’s significant investment in the nation stands as an outlier, as many nations have not responded to events in the nation. It is expected that the Gest administration will be closely tied to the ACEGAD administration in Ainslie.

Gifford also laid the foundations for a joint fund to invest in LNG projects as well as a fund for solar energy projects. Technical advisers of Bravo Rio and of western Ainslie have now been summoned to standardise communication processes between the two nations.

This has been a massive bilateral visit for Ainslie and there has now been a significant investment in Bravo Rio on the Ahnslen part. There is a lot to be done ahead, but it remains to be seen whether this is an incredibly naive venture or the beginning of an incredible relationship between the two nations. Nevertheless, the investment of both the public and primary sectors is likely to reap its rewards for both nations, but we shall see to what extent.

INTERNATIONAL: PM Kenzai cautions Combrekniza
Mandara, Ainslie

In a press conference today, Prime Minister Kenzai made a statement regarding what is now being known as #LockGate on social media. The situation currently on the ground is that the C.S.F have now retaken the southern canal. Political commentators from both Ainslie and beyond have been labelling the Combreknizan government as “incompetent” and “childish” following a major mistake in their security policy. The Prime Minister offered a more conservative and diplomatic assessment of the events:

“The Combreknizan government has made a major security mistake in the Southern Canal, but their assurance that it will not happen again must be respected. We cannot afford to deny the nation their sovereignty if indeed they can responsibly manage that canal.”

The Prime Minister’s ominous last sentence has been noted as a hinting towards possible intervention in the state in the near future, although nothing has been confirmed. The government has also been wary of Combrekniza’s state media communicating a current preperation for war, with Kenzai providing his thoughts on the issue.

“Combrekniza must respect one of the most effective organisations in our international community, the League of The Western Isles. We are not pleased by their rejection of the multilateral nature of international dialogue which has provided such bloodless progress up until now. We are aware of Charbagnia’s crimes against their people and the wider community but this is not the way to deal with it. Combrekniza should actively participate in the league before they even consider the idea of military intervention. It is not our place to comment on the matters of their state, or lecture them on how they should be running their nation and it is on the backdrop of great concern that we provide this statement”

Following that statement, Kenzai quickly left the podium as the media increased in noise, asking for clarification.

Until next time with Arendai.

Combrekniza Responds to Ainsile!

The Combreknizan President,Johan Biyastyiv recently said this in a recent Public Government rally:
"...In response to Ainslie's response to our Government acts on a clear violation of basic Human Rights shows that Ainslie has no regard to foreign citizens which are human like us all, but his comment on a Military Intervention is Neither False of Correct as well, Our nation is preparing for a war that is inevitable where Combrekniza's interests will be a target and our nation will not stand for this, Our nation will protect it's foreign interests at all Costs wether it be a Foreign national trapped in a War zone or direct war to our Great Nation, i will assure to you, my people, That Combrekniza whatever the rest think will unite for what it believe in, in this case, an attack by a Foreign threat to Combreknizan Interests and a Ally-" as the president moves to another Topic this shows that the Combreknizans are not intervening militarily unless war is enacted by Charbianga directly, Meanwhile the Military has been preparing for a possible Invasion on Charbianga in the case of full blown war occuring.[/align]

Brovan-Ahnslen Deal
Shares Image

In a rather surprising turn of events, President Gest has met with leaders from the distant neighbor of Ainslie. The meeting was set to discuss the economical future of the two nations and to better strengthen relations. Here are some results of the meeting;

Bravo Rio has agreed to lower their default tariff of 70% all the way down to 15-20% however, pharmaceuticals and and mineral extraction trades share an even lower tariff.

Numerous contracts have been issued to various Ahnslen construction companies to build up the infrastructure of Northwestern Bravo Rio and to better connect the nation.

To ween Bravo off of the gasoline dependency. A large dual-nation research and development project has been put into effect to make LNG vehicles more efficient and common place in Bravo Rio. This is by far the most important because Bravo Rio has and extremely large Natural Gas economy and the top 3 LNG companies hold enough in reserve to power the country for years should we switch over to LNG cars.

Communication equipment standardization between the two companies. Bravo rio hope to get all of Gael and their allies on the same communication equipment and standards making reaching one another a whole lot easier.

This is hoped to be the beginning of a prosperous relationship with Ainslie. After this deal approval of the fellow Gael nation has sky-rocketed from 38% to nearly 72%. Despite the political divide between the two, the economic side of things is turning out right for Bravo Rio and Ainslie.

Hu Administration Launches Anti-Corruption Crackdown against Opposition Party

Image

ZHUJING - Earlier in his election campaign, Mr. HU promised to remove corruption in Executive Yuan, sparking many politicians attacking him for his Anti-Corruption Campaign. Today, he has broadcasted his speech all over Tianshan earlier this afternoon, calling three major agencies to investigate and collaborate with President Hu Tang, National Security Bureau of the Republic of Tianshan (NSB), Republic of Tianshan National Police Agency (NPA) and the Criminal Intelligence Bureau Republic of Tianshan (CIB) in response of corruption allegations from secretive documents. Chief of National Police Agency has recently expressed his views on that matter, outlining that is important to ensure public safety.

"
It is extremely important to ensure that the Republic of Tianshan does not fall under the Authoritarian regime where corruption is heavy. It is important to keep the public safe from the dangers of dictatorship and allow our citizens to have a voice in politics. No matter what. The Hu Administration currently is assembling its meeting with other party members on what they can do to ensure this never happens in this country. I am ashamed that I failed myself to ensure corruption doesn't spread within the Executive Yuan.

Hu Tang denounces Covonant & Ainslie Over Combrekniza Canal Crisis

Image

ZHUJING - President Hu Tang has recently denounced Covonant and Ainslie over COmbreknizan Crisis, made a statement regarding South Canal Crisis.
The situation currently on the ground is that both Covonant and Ainslie have now warned Combrekniza for possible military intervention in the response of failing to secure the canal. The government of Tianshan has label both parties as 'reckless" and "childish" to action against COmbrekniza. Hu Tang considers this so-called possible military intervention as a 'mistake and would cause more problems in Central and South Argus'. The President has called both parties drop it and deal it in a more diplomatic way.

"
It is important that both parties are to understand the weakness and strength of Combrekniza, it is indeed reckless to call out military action against Combrekniza's failure to defend the canal and manage it. And Conovant does not speak for all Mesder nations at all, they are only speaking for themselves. We ask other nations and go back and revise what they said. A responsible government in terms of crisis is to take diplomacy first then action. However...

President Hu Tang pauses for 10 seconds and continues on what he was finishing.

"
if Combrekniza continues to wield it's weapon around and unable to control itself, then I recommend Combrekniza open and take diplomacy first then action. And Prime Minister Andrew Kenzai has no right to speak regardless the crisis as well as Conovant. It is merely outrageous that both parties claim to have responsibility when it is up to Central Argus itself to take action. But we will defend our dear and special ally no matter what crisis it is, we will defend them. However what we ask is Combrekniza is focused its internal issue, as well as Conovant and Ainslie to step back.

Martial Arts champion facing police probe over alleged assault

Image

A martial arts champion may face a police probe into the alleged assault of junior martial art, authorities said Wednesday, as more details emerged of a scandal that has rocked Tianshan's national sport.

Wang Hao is alleged to have smashed a beer bottle over a fellow martial arts head and hit him repeatedly after the younger man pulled out his smartphone while he was speaking to him.

Headlines screaming "arrest" and "retirement" were splashed over the front pages in the martial arts-obsessed country, as the 33-year-old is likely to have to step down from his lofty position if charged.

A spokesman for the martial art association told Soochow Daily News (SDN) that a police report had been filed on behalf of the 27-year-old assaulted martial art-- Xie Jun, also from Tianshan -- by the fighter's team.

The martial art association has set up a committee to investigate the issue but declined to comment further "until we find out the truth about the incident", he said.

Police could not confirm they have received the report, but said: "It would be true if the victim's side said so."

"Generally speaking, police start probing the case when we receive a report," said a spokesman, who declined to give his name.

The alleged assault took place last month when Tianese martial artists was relaxing over drinks after a tournament.

According to several media reports, Wang Hao flew into a rage when Xie Jun tried to take out his phone to take a call during a conversation.

Yang Sansheng, a former martial art mentor who heard details from people who were at the scene, told private broadcaster TBS: "When I heard about it, I thought to myself 'this is awful.'"

"Jinlong—jiu duan is like a God and it is not good if such a person gets drunk and hits someone," he said.

According to the Tianshan Times, which cited several unnamed sources, the angry Wang Hao beat the younger martial artist with his hands repeatedly even after a bleeding Xie Jun collapsed, chastising him for not paying attention while he was speaking.

About 10 martial artists and two other martial artists champions were at the drinking session, the report said.

The ancient sport has an extremely strict protocol, and Jinlong—jiu duan are expected to be beyond moral reproach in addition to showing superior strength and technique in the ring.

He Jianbin, chief of the Tianshan Sports Agency, told reporters Tuesday that his agency was conducting hearings on the incident.

"We are absolutely against violence and we must eradicate it," he said.

The affair even reached the top levels of government, with the chief cabinet secretary taking questions on it at his regular briefing.

"It's important to find out what actually happened," said Song Maodang.

"Many people want martial artists to do their utmost in training ... and behave with the long history (of the sport) in mind," he told reporters

Prime Minister Gais Arrives in Eurania for Official Start to Eastern Tours

Image

Prime Minister Crassus Gais arrived in Euravezyja, Eurania a few moments ago where he was greeted by the Covonantian International Development Fund Chief Representative to Eurania Mr. Eugene Ignacia, the Prime Minister of Eurania Genyva Arkanyan and President of Eurania Ilja Járovsky. The arrival to Eurania officiates the start to Prime Minister Gais's 12 day tour of the eastern part of the region. The Prime Minister in his address to the Euranian people as he arrived in the country expressed his commendations to the Euranian government for undertaking major reforms to drive growth of the country's economy.

I am pleased to be able to visit Eurania a country which Covonant is proud of as it moves fast in lessening its ties to communistic states and more to a western form of governance and economic structure. I must commend the Eurania people and government for their steadfastness in implementing major economical reforms under the watchful eye of the CIDF which my administration follows the reports closely and are pleased with the results. Eurania stands as a testament to the good nature of liberal economic principles and the virtues of a democratic society

The Prime Minister used the visit to pledge Covonants support to the country's reform and is promising Covonantian assistance when needed.

My administration supports wholeheartedly the reforms taking place in Eurania and must commend Prime Minister Arkanyan for her will to lead her country away from the ills of communism and to the virtues of liberal economic principles the foundation on which the prosperous nations of the Isles have been built on. And I can safely declare that Covonant will continue to assist Eurania in her quest for economic growth and will in any way possible provide technical support via the Covonantian government or her economic institutions.

The Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral talks with members of the Euranian government tomorrow.

Covonant and Vancouvia to Embark on Military Cooperation Among Other Things

Image
Prime Minister Gais speaking at press brief

As the state visit between Covonant and Vancouvia came to an end recently Prime Minister Gais and Ambassador Montgomery of Vancouvia made detailed revelations of issues and directives that came out of bilateral meeting held at the Palatine Manor. In speaking to the press Prime Minister Gais expressed that Covonant would be looking to start major investments and humanitarian work in Vancouvia primarily on Illa Isle as well as a proposal for the standardization of accreditation to make study for both countries citizens easier in both states.

Ambassador Montgomery and I have discussed heavily our two countries intent on forging greater ties and diplomatic connection. This we agree will be in the form of a amalgamation of our accreditation criteria so as to allow for bilateral educational opportunities for Covonatians and Vancouvians. I have so far expressed this with the Ministry of Education and Youth and will be engaging more with the Education Minister to have more policy discussions with his Vancouvian counterpart, also discussed was Covonant's pledge to extend our humanitarian efforts to Illa Isle as we work to continue to spread Covonantian principles and ideals around the region through our humanitarian programme.

Ambassador Montgomery hinted at greater collaboration between Covonantian and Vancouvian troops. The Ambassador notes that such colloboration may see the housing of Covonantian troops in Vancouvia and of Vancouvian troops in Covonant.

Vancouvia looks forward to increased bilateral cooperation in the military realm. We can do much good together in these trying times, and there is no time but the present to begin this cooperative friendship. It is for this reason that we have discussed the possibility of Covonatian and Vancouvian troops living, training, and serving together wherever the fight against fascism and terrorism resides. I'm sure our boys in blue will relish the chance to stand shoulder to shoulder with the finest troops in the Mesder.

We posed the question to Defense Minister Ignacio to elaborate more on the proposal made by the Vancouvian Ambassador. Defense Minister Ignacio expressed that both countries are working on becoming more coordinated in their role around the region.

The Ambassador is simply expressing both of our countries intent of having greater coordination in how we engage threats to our countries and to regional peace. This would involve the allowing of Vancouvian troops to access Covonantian bases and the same for Covonantian troops in accessing Vancouvian bases. We are also looking at implementing this system of coordination to both countries foreign bases in our regional aspirations of obtaining peace.

When asked if this would lead to more bases for Covonant, the Minister had this to say.

No, in fact what it allows is for a cheaper means of us having our troops in parts of the region where our presence is limited and the same goes for the Vancouvians. This administration has made it clear that we want to reduce the number of bases we have around the region and this proposal is in line with the military policy of the Defense Ministry.

Also expressed at the press brief was both countries commitment to containing communism. Prime Minister Gais and his administration has been seeking regional support in their attempts of seeing a failure of Communism primarily in the Southern Seas and other parts of the region. Covonant in its attempt to weed out non democratic state has engaged in a war with the fascist regime of San Montagna.

Covonant has been an ardent supporter of democracy and has never been ashamed of expressing our disapproval with Communism and so I am pleased that the Vancouvians are joining our plight in ensuring that Communism fails

Other countries that have pledge to support Covonant in its attempt at containing the Communist world includes Noronica and Great-Imperialonia.

ALSA-KRÖNBORG, YECHNYA, EURANIA – A deadly attack has killed at least 75 so far in the city of Alsa.

According to eyewitness reports as well as current police announcments, an explosion rocked a local division of the Industrial & Commercial Bank of Eurania around noon, destroying most of the bank as rubble fell on the street. Survivors say after running out of the bank’s ruins, ten gunmen emerged from the lobby, opening fire upon them.
”People fell around me. I was horrified, and tried to run away, but I had to push people out of my way…I feel awful.” A young woman told reporters.

Several other nearby buildings were moderately to severly damaged, including the Dai-Tenmin restaurant, down across the street from the bank. The restaurant is regarded as a fine example of Yechen cuisine and is near Ploçag Te Sankt Šennïyist, otherwise known as Saint Sennain Square, regarded as a cultural center in Alsa-Krönborg. Customers who fled from the restaurant say that two of the gunmen approached them before being killed by responding Euranian soldiers.

After chasing down people fleeing from the bombings, the gunmen entered a local movie theater and took hostages, leading to a four-hour standoff with police. After negotiations failed, police say they stormed into the theater and shot a terrorist dead, with the remaining seven surrendering to the police.
The attack comes just as the foreign guests came to Eurania – the prime minister of Covonant, the main aid donor to Eurania, came to Eurania on talks of investments and well as other proposals.

President Ilja Járovsky has called for national solidarity with Eurania as well as Yechnya, whose people comprise of almost half of the victims, and also raised the nation’s alert system to its highest level, which has not been previously seen, and also assured that security for the foreign guests of Eurania would be heightened to safeguard. Prime Minister Genyva Arkänyjan has called the act ‘sick and depraved.’

After the massacre and carnage, police say they have gathered much evidence that a Polanian communist militant organization, known as The Liberators, are to blame. Immediately on social media, the mysterious leader of the organization, only known as Unity, wrote that “We do not attack innocents. We only fight against tyrants.” The Liberators, having been in existence since the 1990s, have advocated for an independent Polania and the dissolution of the Euranian state. It is regarded as a terror organization and has gained prominence over the years – until their announcement of their campaign against Eurania following last month’s crackdown on an illegal independence referendum in Polania.

Police have affirmed that all evidence is related to the Liberators. A senior official of the Naçjonova Politsyjag (National Police) confirmed to news agencies about this, though he had not made anything clear about anything else. When asked about what would happen to the gunmen, he only stated that they would be ‘inspected’.

Nevertheless, the nation is mourning. A makeshift memorial has been made in Saint Sennain Square, with dozens immediately lighting candles and placing flowers. The President, the Prime Minister, and the King will all visit the memorial tomorrow.

Nicholas II crowned Emperor of New Aapelistan

Grand Duke Nicholas Alexander, Prince-Heir of New Aapelistan was crowned Emperor of Aprosians this morning in Megalopolis, the capital of the archduchy of Saloniki in Great-Imperialonia. Viceroy Melas II and Princess Mary attended his coronation, together with several nobles and leaders of the Anglican, Orthodox and Catholic Church. How will this influence the state of the region and Imperialonian influence in New Aapelistan?

By God’s Will, Nicholas II, Emperor and Souvereign of All Aprosians, Aapelistan and Nevskaya. King of Achinsk, Dovgorod, Alinograd and Kavjaku. Grand Prince of Aapeligrad. Hereditary Džehar and Owner!" so gallowed through the halls of the Archduke’s palace in Megalopolis this afternoon. Alexander Nicholas was crowned the Emperor of New Aapelistan by a number of traditional Aprosian priests, thus effectively marking the end of the reign of communists in New Aapelistan, well… for some. Everything was very well organised, the coronation was in Russian, as a number of ethnic Aprosians were also invited, together with the Viceroy of Great-Imperialonia, Melas II and his consort Princess Mary. The whole Imperialonian Privy Council was present and a number of clergymen also showed up.

The coronation might seem useless to many, as New Aapelistan is still under tight controll of the CPNA and President Nijakov, it has huge symbolic value. By crowning Nicholas, he gains full constitutional authority to apoint his own cabinet, which can act as some sort of ‘shadow-nation in exile’, and it poses a great threat towards the USNRA. With full military backing of Great-Imperialonia and the endorsment of some other nations, this might mark the start of the downfall of the communist regime.

Immediately after Emperor Nicholas II was crowned and annointed, he gave a speech, also in Russian, where he thanked the Viceroyalty for their unwavering support and announced the appointment of Viktor Aristov as his first minister, Catherine Zhurov as second minister and Alexei Dubinin as foreign minister. He also expressed his wish for an elected legislative branch as soon as possible, and he ended with his desire to return to the royal palace in Achinsk in the near future.

Meanwhile there were some reports from the Aapelistanian city of Ašinsk, where royalist militias claimed the streets for some days, before the police brutally ended the protests by killing 19 demonstrators. Today reports came in of hundreds of people daring to openly support Džehar Nicholas II as the rightfull ruler of New Aapelistan.
First Minister Aristov gave a press conference right after the coronation:

It is clear that the grip of Nijakov on New Aapelistan is slowly fading away, people dare to claim the streets and openly support us. People may see us as a government in exile, but you can clearly see which one is stronger and has more support among Aprosians. I urge Nijakov to resign the presidency as soon as logistically possible, to ensure a peacefull transition of power.

Aristov is invited by Prime-Minister Montgomery to discuss further strategy. It remains unclear what will happen next, but it is certain that Nicholas’ government will continue to be ensured of full Imperialonian support. Emperor Nicholas and his government will stay in the Archduchial Palace of Saloniki in Megalopolis the coming time.

Prime Minister Gais Express Shock and Condemnation Following Attacks in Eurania

Image

Following the deadly attacks that occurred in Alsa-Krönborg shortly after Prime Minister Crassus Gais arrived in Eurania that saw at least 75 Euranians dead, Prime Minister Gais today at the bilateral talks held between Eurania and Covonant expressed shock and condemnation for the attacks.

I want to express on behalf of the Covonantian people our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims that perished during the deadly attacks yesterday. I had not hoped to have my first visit to the east and by extension to Eurania to have elements of terrorism involved. I was greatly shocked by the reports of the attacks and I strongly condemn the actions of the callous individuals who took the time to inflict death and pain on their fellow countrymen and women.

The Prime Minister called on the Euranian government to deal with ethnic division closely and promptly to prevent reprisals that could affect the country's growth agenda.

I want to advise Prime Minister Arkanyan and her government to act decisively and quickly in dealing with the ethnic divisions present in the country that have so far been seen as a contributor to yesterday's attack. A government must be cognizant that such division and constant antagonistic attitude towards each other spells for trouble and in the case of Eurania reprisal actions would mean vulnerability to its growth agenda.

Praetorian Guards Implement Greater Security Apparatus Following Deadly Attacks in Eurania

Image

Head of the Praetorian Guards, the Prime Minister exclusivity security team, Malachi Rowe is expressing greater attention and implementation of security apparatus following the attacks in Alsa-Krönborg yesterday. Mr. Rowe speaking to the CBC via phone expressed that the security to the Prime Minister is the main objective of the Guards.

We have beefed up our levels of alertness and are being proactive in our protecting of the Prime Minister. We understand the volatility of the east and security was a major concern when this trip was being planned. Following the attacks in Alsa-Krönborg yesterday we are not leaving anything to chance. We have so far increased our security apparatus and are making greater visibility of the guards in areas the Prime Minister will be present.

Mr. Rowe expressed that the Praetorian Guards are remaining on high alert as the Prime Minister continues on his visit to the country. Such alertness Mr. Rowe hinted to concerned the contacts between Euranian officials and the Prime Minister.

We have raised our levels of alertness which means that the persons who come into contact with the Prime Minister are heavily checked before allowing anywhere near the Prime Minister also we have closed off sections of the road leading to the Le Vyhamy Prešnomy Stan Te Evrovezyja - The Grand Palatial Hotel of Euravezyja. We have increased the number of Guards that conducts routine surveillance of the hotel grounds as well as cornered off sections of the hotel to guest as well as to visitors. In fact our team have access to more than half the rooms at the hotel and those areas are off limits.

Mr. Rowe notes that roads the Prime Minister's motorcade will be travelling on will see an increase in security personnel and surveillance.

Initially the routes drafted would see police presence but we have taken the intiative after advising the police high command in Eurania to provide greater security personnel as well as surveillance on these routes. Also we are seeing the incorporation of the military in providing greater security as well. So our apparatus has increased and we expect for this visit to continue smoothly as we work with local law enforcers and security teams to ensure the Prime Minister's safety

Prime Minister Gais Advises Euranian Government to Implement National Identification System;PM Gais Announce Covonant Ability to Finance Rail-Link

Image
Prime Minister Gais views display on arrival at Prime Minister Arkanyan residence

Prime Minister Crassus Gais and Prime Minister of Eurania Genyva Arkanyan concluded bilateral talks a few moments ago at the Prime Minister's residence in Euravezyja. During the meeting Prime Minister Gais expressed his shock and condemnation and advised his Euranian counterpart to actively look into the introduction of a National Identification System.

As we come to terms with the attacks that occurred yesterday, I wish to advise the Euranian government to proactively look into the introducing of an extensive National Identification System. Covonant has such a system where we incorporate biometrics to allow for the government to be able to know who our citizens are and in events of terrorist attacks to quickly know who is who and it helps in uncovering more evidence in a timely manner as opposed to the case we didn't have such a system

Prime Minister Gais notes that a NIS would also be beneficial to the economy of Eurania cutting out time wasted on bureaucratic processes. The Prime Minister also expressed that Covonant is willing to provide the technical support for such a system.

Another reason I believe the Euranian government should move post-haste in developing a NIS programme is the economic benefits it provides for the country. Eurania is not fully liberalised economically and economic reports suggest that bureaucratic elements still persist in the public sector. This system could rule out bureaucracy saving Euranians wasted time in accessing service and more time added to being productive members of society. And while I make such proposals to the Euranian government, Covonant will be more than capable to providing technical support and consultation on how this system can be a success just as it is in Covonant.

Also raised during the bilateral talks was the agreement between Eurania and West Suomi in developing an inter-country rail link to connect the two countries closet point together. Prime Minister Gais expressed Covonant's support of the project adding the economic benefits it could bring to both countries. The Prime Minister went a step further in is support of the project in announcing Covonant willingness to fully finance the project.

My administration supports 100% the new developments and proposals which Eurania is making with West Suomi, particularly concerning the inter-country rail-link that would connect the southern most end of Eurania with the northern most tip of West Suomi. Prime Minister Arkanyan has expressed great interest in seeing this proposal become a reality and it is in Covonant's interest for this proposal to become a reality as well not just for the diplomatic elements it eschews but the economic viability it proposes. The construction could see thousands of Euranians and West Suomian nationals provided with employment and also an increase in goods having easier access into West Suomi and into Eurania. I make a commitment to you Prime Minister Arkanyan that Covonant stands ready to provide full financing of the project

CBC political commentator Mikael Stokes is however raising concerns about the benefits Covonant stands to gain from the multi-billion dollar proposed rail-link. He is also raising questions on Covonant's intent on funding projects that does not benefit the Covonantian people.

The Prime Minister is doing the opposite of what he claimed he would have done during the election campaign. Instead we see a greater extension of Covonant's foreign policy. Greater than it was under the previous Imperatus Marl led administration. We have to ask why are we going to spend our money which is not a loan but a multi-billion dollar grant package for a project that will never benefit us. One has to question if geo-politics is the order of the visit to Eurania. Historically Eurania has had ties to New Aapelistan and until recently have severed ties to the country. Covonant is seen to be using that opportunity to tie Eurania even closer to the west. The visit shows undertones of Covonant cementing their interest and presence into the Kavju Sea area, which previously we had no sort of presence there. This may spell trouble for New Aapelistan presently the EUSR as they will begin to get weary of Covonant's closeness to an area which traditionally served as their sphere of influence.

Mikael also questioned why the Covonantian government is interested in the Euranian government implementing a National Identification System.

Is a country like Eurania that is slowing showing signs of economic growth in any position to implement a national identification system that would cost well over $50 million dollars to implement. It cost the Covonantian government approximately $68 million dollars to implement so we ask the question can a country that already has a major loan package on their back be in a position to afford this. Now I understand the benefits of having a NIS programme in place but who is to pay for it. The visit of the PM to Eurania is really showing that Covonant went their not to gain anything tangible but really to strengthen the relation between both countries and pull Eurania away from EUSR influence and I look forward to see how the visit progress in the other countries primarily in West Suomi which is closer to New Aapellistan and is literally a stone throw away from the New Aapelistan territory of Kavju.

The Prime Minister leaves Eurania tomorrow for Tectonix.

Minister of Growth, Development, and Investment Seeking Alternative to Canal in Combrekniza

Image

The Minister of Growth, Development, and Investment Augustus Fuscus is expressing his Ministry's intent on seeking an alternative from the southern canal in Combrekniza. The Minister speaking to the press at the Ministry notes that recent development surrounding the canal as raised concerns with the Covonantian government of the vulnerability of the canal and Covonant's over-reliance on the canal.

The closure of the canal which lasted roughly 2 days saw the country losing millions in worth of trade. This suggest our over-reliance as many other South Mesder states has on the canal. Not withstanding the fact that the canal is under the control of a communist state, the government of Covonant is concerned about the threats it may pose to our conducting trade with the east as well as freedom of movement of goods from the South Mesder to the Eastern part of the region

The Minister expressed that the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Growth, Development and Investment held joint talks yesterday in finding an alternative to Covonant's persistent reliance on the canal. He noted that few key points were raised.

The Minister of Transportation and I along with technocrats within both Ministries met yesterday to discuss what alternatives we have that we under-utilise, and one such point that was raised was to place more attention on opening our trade line to include the southern most end of Central Argus. Now while that proposal from a observer base viewpoint may seem feasible, it doesn't work in our case as our major trading partners in the east are primarily located in the Kavju Sea, Gael, and the Eterna Sea with a very small amount in the Southern Seas. This line of trade would add more travel time to get to the central and northern most parts of the east which is too costly for us to consider

He notes that the best possible alternative which Covonant will be actively pursuing would involve a joint investment partnership with the Wellsian Government.

Another point raised which I can say we are looking into pursuing is to rely on the geographic location of our ally Wellsia. Unlike Covonant, Wellsia is in a perfect location that provides them great access to both the east and the west, and that alone makes the country attractive to Covonant for the benefits it could bring to us. I have already expressed to my equivalent in Wellsia of our interest in developing further the rail-line that connects the east and west of the country. Already Wellsia has a sophisticated networks of rail-ways that the country relies on for transporting goods from one side of the country to the other which allows them perfect access to the east and the west which in effect allows them to overlook the canal. What my Ministry will propose is to provide investment into the already established rail-link to increase the number of railways and to expand its operation and services that could allow not just Covonant but other Mesder states the possibility of using this alternative to bypass the canal

The Minister notes that the investment will hope to make Wellsia a trading centre connecting both the east and west as well as developing the most extensive railway system in the region.

We view our investment as a benefit for Wellsia as it allows the country to now become a important trading centre with the ability to bring the east and west closer in a faster time as opposed to using the canal and we limit the risk which we experienced a few days ago with the canal. Our intention is to develop the most extensive rail-way line in the region. With the proper funding and the requisite team we can do it. And noting that Wellsia already has a sophisticated network in place we already would have a system and a model to work with
