NORSTHAM-Les Perroquets have opened the regional tournament with a strong showing in their first game, earning a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Samudera. The match started with an early goal by Trultin when a corner kick was put into the Samuderan goal on a header by Saint-Yves in the 17th minute. The game remained a 1-0 struggle until just before the half, when at 44', the Samuderan forward slipped past the defense and put a stunning goal into the upper left corner of the net to equalize just before the half.
The second half began with a nail-biting moment for les Perroquets when another counter-attack opportunity was given up to the Samuderan squad. Fortunately, the strike went off the cross-bar at 59', missing giving Samudera the lead by mere centimeters. The next twenty minutes were spent in a breathless toe-to-toe slugging match as both teams attacked and counter-attacked, though neither team seemed to be able to get a shot on goal. Finally, at 80' Barrande tapped a pass through a gap in the defense for Barbet, who delivered it into the goal with an amazing show of footwork as he outpaced one of the Samuderan defenders. When the whistle blew ten minutes later, Trultin was the victor and stands in a good position to lead the group going into the round of 12.
