Kodiak: Alaskan Health Authority officials have confirmed a series of suspicious events that mimics some of the symptoms of an illness that had first surfaced in Nome last week. Like what happened in Nome, it seems to be clustered around people in a particular occupation and seems to be treatable if caught early enough. The only reported deaths have only occurred in those that refused medical treatment. So far no particular pathogen has been identified.

Toulouse: Darkstar Industries has announced Project Proton, a mass producible disposable rocket system designed to cheaply achieve orbit with a modest payload capacity for orbital probes and satellites. Production will start by early summer out of the facility here in Toulouse, sources close to management are rumored to seek building a facility in Jueverna Ailis, Jueverna.

Windham: Windsor FC will be managed by Nigel Windsor for the time being, former manager Paul Duracell was widely sacked for failure to get the team into the Isles Premier League. The duke of Windsor owns not only the stadium, but the team as well and was reportedly furious at the missed opportunity. Team captain Davy Nekham didn't seam too interested in whoever the GM ended up being, reportedly saying "this is the year" to reporters.

2017 Budget Approved by Federal Council

Alland- Two days after the National Assembly passed it 48-12, and a day after the Council of States approved it 11-1, the Federal Council unanimously signed the 2017 Budget Act into law.

The 27 billion (USD) budget includes increases to defence, health subsidies, and education grants. Minister of the Treasury and Federal Councillor Daegan Bos (LP, Grottingon) hailed the budget as a victory for restrained and responsible government, noting the balanced budget left room to pay down the national debt.

The lone dissenter in the Council of States was Saburo Corredor (CP, Calionte), who argued the budget didn't increase defence and security spending enough. The other State Councillor from Calionte,
Elena Rodney (CP), was instrumental in negotiating the increased security funding directed toward policing and the Calionte state military forces.

Speaker of the Assembly Laurens Veerman (LP, Grottingon) will next turn his attention to a proposed levy and dyke program surrounding some of Michigonia's cities most vulnerable to sea-level rise.

Volunteers raise food waste awareness, by feeding communities

March 30, 2017

Local non-government organization, Friendly Kitchens says that it is working with businesses and the local municipality to fight against food waste.

The Friendly Kitchens was started three years ago in 2014 by international students from the the University of Leetika who were tired of seeing wasted food. Now the organization holds weekly events and has gone into collaboration with the municipality of Burser.

The long-term aim of the project is to change people’s approaches to the food they waste, says the non profit co-founder Drake Coug. "We are trying to expand a little bit now and make ourselves and our concept more relevant to people, so that they are more aware of the food they are wasting. We want people to be more conscious of this generally, even though we are only targeting just one city for the moment". he said.

What the organization does is it enters agreements with local businesses like supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants to collect food that they are unable to use. This food is then used at a weekly communal dining event, so that it is continually used and as little as possible ends up being thrown out.

"We are thirty volunteers in all who take it in turns to help out, and each week at the meals we feed twelve people – students or older people from the local community, whoever wants to come,” Coug added.

Friendly Kitchen also noted that it has helped some of the poorer members of community, not just by giving them food whenever they are unable to find it on their own, but also let them feel a part of the communal set up by giving them the chance to socialize with other locals.

According to the group, hundreds of tons of products have been saved feeding thousands of people since the project’s inception. And at three years, they plan to continue to expand their network and replicate their programs in other cities nationwide.

Ticking Flu Reaches Promwell, Coldwater and St. Luke's

Coldwater doctors with a seizuring patient, Holy Aether Hospital

COLDWATER, COLDWATER PREFECTURE, ATNAIA - Despite the best efforts of health authorities, confirmed cases of the Ticking Flu have been found in more cities around Atnaia. In addition, more cases have been discovered in Black Hill, bringing the total number of infected up to thirty-one, with six confirmed casualties.

"We at the NHS and associated research concerns are operating around the clock to deal with the growing concern of the Ticking Flu," said NHS spokesperson Della Jung. "There is no cause for panic."

"Well an exact timeline is variable, we are finding a trend for infection," said Dr. Hines Luis of the ARK Center for Disease Research in Ambress. "The disease is most infectious among those with an already decreased immuno-suppression response, such as the elderly, the young, those without proper diets or sleep behaviours. We've found that the disease is particularly prevalent in some workhouses. If you meet these requirements, you are at a greater risk of contracting the disease and should be vigilant. We remind citizens to eat properly, sleep regularly and maintain a good level of physical fitness if you want to avoid infection. In addition, there have been ties between the Ticking Flu and smoking. We believe that the disease has an easier time infecting damaged tissue in the lungs in the initial stages. Smokers should also be vigilant."

The ARK:CDR has also confirmed that the disease initially presents with flu-like symptoms, before subsiding for a period of about 24 to 48 hours before returning upon shift to the nervous system. If you present flu-like symptoms and begin to feel better, this may not represent a lack of infection, and you should still seek medical attention.

"Ibuprofen is not a replacement for proper healthcare," said Jung. "You aren't going to cure your twitching with over the counter drugs."

"We have found that marijuana and similar sedatives may help ease symptoms," said Hines. "However, smoking can still cause damage to the lungs. If you are going to utilize marijuana as an aid during time of infection, we recommend consuming in the form of vapour or edible stand-ins."

With the number of cases growing, and deaths on the record, some Atnaians are wondering whether the foreign hype over the outbreak holds some merit.

"The government was pretty swift to write off foreign concerns," said noted critic of the Quorum and Merrit Independence League advocate, Kyle Rhjsh.

The Quorum would like to remind citizens not to panic, and to seek medical attention if they display any symptoms.

Canal Taxes Lowered

With a recent boom in the tobacco industry, Concordia is not so reliant on the canal to bring in a majority of income. Prices for cargo ships have been lowered to $25 per full container and $20 per empty container. Ground assistance and other general taxes have been lowered as well. President Justin Kuntz has released an official statement on the lowered canal taxes.

"In hopes to increase activity and trade within our nation, we have lowered the tax on cargo ships passing through the canal. With recent booms in the Tobacco and mining industry, we are not so reliant on the canal anymore which I think is a step in the right direction."

Iplandic Bunny Hunting ban in Silor fails to pass

The Siloran parliament voted against the Protecting National Species Act, which would have banned all hunting of the National Animal, the Iplandic Bunny.
the vote, which took place at 1:00 PM today, had many unsure of the outcome, as the bill was met with very mixed reactions from the public as well as Siloran MPs voting on the bill.

The current owner of the Vertensgnjen restaurant in Trumo, Marejaej Vertensgnjen, had this to say about the failure of the bill:

I don't want to be that guy, but I'm sure the interview done earlier this week with ME influenced many voters. I love Silor.

The FNS Ravager is launched!

Back in November of 2016, construction was announced of a brand new Federation warship. The FNS Ravager of the brand new Glacier Class Heavy(battle) Cruiser line. The idea was proposed back in 2006 of it's design and was approved in 2016. And in December, the Keel was laid down and construction began.

Due to several minor delays from weather and budget reforms, the FNS Ravager has been okayed to launch. She is now sitting in port receiving supplies and manpower before taking her maiden voyage around the Federation and visiting friendly nations before being assigned to a battle group and entering active service.

This ship is planned to have two sister ships completed before the end of the year. Once all three are completed, the Naval Board says they will scrap the Titan Class Battle Cruiser and enter these ships in its stead.

Digital Driver's License Unveiled

Digital Driver's License Unveiled
RiChu News - 1st April 2017
________________________________

Gudaoan motorists will soon be able to have a digital version of their driving licence on smartphone later this year.

The Gudao Driving Authority (GDA) has revealed that it is in the early stages of developing a digital version of the driving licence.

The team behind the development said that it would be a “quick, easy and secure” service, which could mean drivers are never without their licence.

A test version of the service will be launched privately in May this year, before the planned unveiling in September 2017.

The GDA has warned however that the digital licence will not replace the plastic cards.

The announcement was first made in May 2014, when GDA chief executive Oliver Huang tweeted a picture of the prototype digital licence.

In the photo we see than the licence would appear in the Apple Wallet, where the Apple Pay service, airplane boarding passes and store loyalty cards are located.

In addition to the Apple Wallet service, the Gudaoan Digitial Driver's License will be available on other systems in the future, including Android and RiChu's Quantum.

Further details about the project, and other GDA initiatives, were revealed in their 2017/18 plan.

It states: “During 2017/18 we will be developing a quick, easy and secure service to allow customers to view a representation of their driving licence on their smartphone.

“The driver will be in control of their data and this can be used to share and validate driver information with trusted third parties through a secure website.

“The digital licence service will only be available to driving licence holders who have authenticated themselves on gov.uk through the existing driving licence service.

“This service will be available 24/7, wherever the driver has a web connection.

GDA said work is in the early stages, with further details on what the service will look like to be released in future.

The paper part of the licence was abolished in June last year as part of the Government’s drive to reduce unnecessary red tape, as it steps towards introducing a centralised information database, akin to Atnaia's Atdent system.

Areguelistan Airlines Unveils Unsafe Airplane Storage

Areguelistan Airlines has unveiled unsafe storage in the southwestern part of the country specifically for Cruxan commercial airliners. Unrivaled features include trigger-happy armed rebels, a special kidnapping booth, and anti-aircraft guns to scare passengers. Not too many details are known, but the new storage yard is projected to open on April 31, 2017.
If you've read this or any of my factbooks, you probably know none of this would actually happen in Areguelista. Happy April Fool's Day!

Military Reforms!

After many drawn out and heated debates, the government of Concordia has decided to switch the main service platform the AK variants to the M16/M4 variants. The main service rifle was set to be chambered in .50 Beowulf. With this change of weapon platform comes a total revamp of Concordian military infantry equipment, most of the current military weapons will be sold off into private circulation within the nation as Full-Auto still is outlawed.

The Foreign Intelligence Ministry, the government agency that was solely responsible for foreign intelligence, was dissolved by vote from the Nationov Zoviet. It was terminated to improve efficiency in the field of intelligence. It's functions and powers have been transferred to the State Main Security Office, or SGBR. All its employees have also been transferred.

Director Petrov Severovich will now be the head of a organization responsible for the security of major officers of the state and the deputies of the NZ, the intelligence-gathering nationally and abroad, and responding to any situation dealing with possible traitors, terrorists, etc.

'With the merger of the Foreign Intelligence Ministry with the State Main Security Office, this will ensure the efficiency of the security and intelligence-gathering, and counterintelligence of the state.' he spoke with journalists.

In contrast to the dissolution of the Foreign Intelligence Ministry, the Nationov Zoviet has created a new agency officially known as the Special Corrections Service. This is the agency responsible for handling the worst of the worst, spies, terrorists, and traitors are officially managed by the agency. This agency will be a direct subordinate to the SGBR.

In addition today's events, skeptics and conspiracy theorists have been proclaiming that another secret organization, going by the distinction of the Order of Eurania or Secret State Squadron. No evidence has been provided supporting these claims.

'There is an organization out there, one that no one knows.' spoke a skeptic. A few began protesting violently, which caused Justice agents to arrest the protesters for causing danger. They await sentencing.

Elections in Rumonsia 2017

Postby Rumonsia » Sun Apr 02, 2017 9:29 am

April 2nd, 2017
The Paran Diem
Paran, Rumonsia

A Heated Election Ahead
The first round of national elections are due to begin tomorrow, with polls forecasting highly contested results between the Traditionalist, Liberal and Worker factions in the National Diet. However, the selection of the First Consul is leaning largely in favor of populist independent libertarian candidate, Drasi Qevar, with the Traditionalist and Liberal parties endorsing him in an effort to outrun Worker Party endorsed candidate, Asi Krala. Both are polarizing figures and have been subject to intense debates this last month, with more moderate candidates falling out of public view.

Political analyst and Paran Diem correspondent, Professor Idasi Aelinus, explains the nature of this years election. "This has been an extremely polarizing time in Rumonsian politics, this is mainly attributed to what is coined the 'new wave' generation that came to fruition when Asi Krala ran six years ago at the lowest point in recession. The youngest adult generations felt the brunt of the recession and Krala became relevant as a charismatic, socialist figure that appealed to the younger generations. This is combined with resentment towards the increasingly liberal attitude of the Church and rising conservative interpretations of the Holy Accord and Apocyphon."

The Duviric Church has alluded to endorsing Drasi Qevar, with Archon Istallar Naban complimenting Qevar's more "moderate tone" that doesn't "break the systematic status quo". However, the Archon also complimented Krala, saying "She has been an influencial figure in driving conversation in the right direction." However, controversial comments from Asi Krala has had her labelled as a nationalist by the Church, with the Council of Archmagi proclaiming, "Asi Krala's rhetoric which endangers the very moral and ideological fabric of the nation is worrying." However, most of her supporters don't feel this way.

Despite Asi Krala's critical points against the theocracy, her supporters remain devout. "I don't think she is a nationalist." says chairman of the 'People's Pact for First Consul'. "We need a strong central government that aims to create a central moral fabric, not this free, liberal interpretation that leads to degradation. Our people need to be protected, aided and guided." Many however, say while Asi is a Duviri, her extreme past rhetoric hinges on heresy. The Archon has remained neutral on the matter however, seeming to be at odds with the Church himself recently.

Krala's controversial rhetoric extents torwards demoting the current Council of Archmagi, who she blames for furthering the declining economic situation of the country and the oppression of voices that are contrary to traditional theological interpretations of the Apocryphon. Krala has marked rising conservative and worldly interpretations, called New Apocryphi, which alongside being more socially conservative is more socialist, endorsing a stronger more nationalist socialist state united by strong, central Duviric values rather than loose, liberal moral Duviric values endorsed by the current Church. Uniquely, the former liberal Worker's Party has transformed into a conservative socialist party led by the young generation under the helm of Asi Krala.

She is still a controversial yet viable figure however, despite polls indicating a Drasi Qevar victory, supported by the first coalition of Traditionalist and Liberals in thirty years, purely in fear of the rising popularity of the National Worker's Party. The National Diet is filled with an air of unsure anxiety however, as a Worker victory would push the consensus democracy into gridlock. Recent polling and survey's have indicated that the majority of voters are pulled in by Krala's economic incentives, thus leaning votes for the National Diet in the favor of the National Worker's Party. However, many do not agree with her nationalist conservative attitude. It's a strong belief within the government, that if Asi Krala is elected, she won't be able to form a government which will shut down the government for a long period.

Our most accurate prediction: First Consul will go to Drasi Qevar with a National Worker's majority in the Diet. Only the first round will tell.

Deputy Vladimir Mazarin was appointed to the rank of First Deputy, filling the gap created when Geneva Arkanian was appointed Prime Minister.

Mr. Mazarin was appointed due to his experience as former mayor of Kazan, the third largest city in the Federation. He was also a Lieutenant Colonel in the SGBR's predecessor, the MSB (Ministry of State Security).

'I congratulate the Federation for appointing an expert to where an expert's knowledge is needed.' he spoke to journalists.

When questioned about the new political party formed from the merging of United Eurania and the Communist Party, Mr. Mazarin simply stated 'I do not to join the party which leads us to greatness, because I am already in it.' Mr. Mazarin was also promoted to Chairman of the All Union Party, with the leaders of the former parties as his aides.

Prime Minister Geneva Arkanian called the merge a waste. 'Balance was maintaned when we had even two parties. Now its back into a single all powerful party.' she told Gazeta officials.

Others, however, are content with the new party. 'It is a balance of the goods of Capitalism and Communism. Perfect.' was the statement most of the deputies, from both former parties, asserted.

Welcome to Ainslie Daily's Broadcast

Today is the 3rd of April, 2017. Here in Arnton it will reach an unusually warm 29 Today. And now to the news.

News

Black Hill Virus further infects the Commonwealth, as predicted.
Arnton, Ainslie
Kenzai fronted the press in a news conference today, after a noticeable few days of press silence regarding the government’s actions. He talked about Ticking Flu (locally known as the Black Hill Virus), which is beginning to spread around the commonwealth.

“This is becoming a serious threat, which requires serious measures. Unfortunately, our options are limited in controlling this outbreak within the Commonwealth, and thus we must suspend all VISA free agreements we have with any commonwealth nations. All people who enter the Unified Electorates and have visited a nation which has confirmed cases of the Black Hill Virus are subject to mandatory screening for the virus, and if this is refused they will be deported immediately.”

This was one of the major sections of the speech, and one that will raise controversy amongst his supporter base.

What we know:
  • Kenzai has suspended VISA free access to all commonwealth nations.
  • Kenzai has not denied the possibility of closing borders to Commonwealth nations, as a last result.
  • Armex expects the virus to spread amongst the commonwealth, but does not believe it will go global.
  • Blackmore has called an emergency meeting of federal and electoral health departments, as well as officials, in Highland Ridge in order to formulate a response strategy specifically for this virus

New Constitution marks 'New Noronica'

Joshua McIntosh speaking before his inauguration tomorrow.

After political turmoil and complete overhauls, the new Noronnican political system has finally been fully installed. The new Constitution, written by the Round Table and the new Prime Minister, Joshua McIntosh, will be in effect tomorrow at 12:00 midday - as soon as Joshua McIntosh is inaugurated.

A few weeks ago, Joshua McIntosh, former Secretary for Defence, began a reformation process. The Round Table voted in favour for his new reforms, allowing him to enact his new bill which proposed creating a 'better' political system, such as the introduction of a Parliament. His most controversial reform has been the decision to give the office of Prime Minister a vast amount of power.

According to the new Constitution for the Overlordship of Noronica, the Prime Minister has the following powers and duties:

  • To ensure that the laws of the Government and the Regional Governments adhere to the constitution.
  • To appoint members of the Round Table.
  • To appoint top officials in the country with the consent of the Round Table’s vote. A proposal to relieve these officials of their duties must also be submitted to the Round Table.
  • To issue decrees and executive orders.
  • To submit draft legislation or veto them.
  • To decide the basic direction of foreign and domestic policy.
  • To grant pardons.
  • To call a referendum.
  • To appoint or recall diplomatic representatives to foreign nations and international organisations.
  • To sign international treaties.
  • To represent the nation in international conventions.

Some are calling this move 'dictatorial', claiming that these new powers will grant McIntosh total domination over Noronnican politics. However, some are praising this move, calling for a 'stronger figurehead', arguing that the old system was problematic and riddled with conflict of interests.

The last time a Prime Minister attempted seize powers was during the Florence Regime in the 1970's. This has caused protests in some towns and cities as some are worried about a new 'dictator'. McIntosh, meanwhile, has been decrying these statements as 'false' and 'unreasonable', stating that it is 'wrong to compare these reforms to the terrible regime of the past'. He went on to say,

I have been democratically voted in by the Round Table and by the people as Noronica's new leader. I am not seizing all power, I am merely trying to promote a stronger Noronica with a more efficient system. I am cutting away at the fat if you will, to bring about a leaner and swifter way of conducting politics.

The Overlord's Palace has issued a statement stating that the Overlord is 'satisfied' with the new direction Noronica is taking, and he is fully prepared to watch Noronica 'grow' from this.

Health Minister responds to Ticking Flu outbreak; Travel advisory in effect for Atnaia and other states

Image
Minister of Health, Robert Staci

The Minister of Health Robert Staci has responded to the Ticking Flu outbreak that is raising alarms around the Isles. The Health Minister noted that Covonant had to assess the situation before making any declaration on the matter. He expressed that measures will be taken to prevent any outbreak in Covonant. The Minister was speaking at the Ministry of Health in Coventry.

I have heard the calls that we were taking too long to respond, but we can't be too reactionary without first assessing the extremity of the situation. We believe at this point that the matter seems to be losing control prompting the Ministry response.

Minister Staci expressed that Covonant has to be proactive as if an outbreak should occur on Covonantian soil, it would be treated as a matter of national security. The Health Minister noted that the short term interest that Covonant will take is increase screening for those arriving to the Union.

We have to act swift on this matter, for we would not like to see any outbreak on Covonantian soil as that would have to be dealt with in a manner that would be viewed as ensuring national security. I have expressed my concerns and the Ministry's plans to the Foreign Ministry and the Travel Authority and Immigration Agency (TAIA) to see that we are proactive in the short term to prevent an outbreak. One such measure that will be implemented immediately will be an extensive screening process that will be done for all person entering Covonant at our ports of entry, either it being at a airport facility or a seaport. Special attention will be made to those coming from countries that have recorded numbers of persons who have contracted the Ticking Flu

When asked if Covonant will take the route to bar persons from travelling to Covonant from countries that have reports of the flu, the Minister had this to say:

Covonant does not want to give in to mass hysteria, we however know the severity of the situation and the likely event that may occur. We are also cognizant of the fact that this outbreak may put a strain on our health industry and the government's health budget, but at this time we don't see it necessary to implement a travel ban, what the Foreign Ministry has however put in place is a travel advisory to Atnaia and other countries that have reports of the flu

When asked what is the government's view on Cooperative Union member states placing travel ban for non-CU citizens, the Minister expressed that they have a right to their national interest.

Quite frankly I don't think Covonant has any leverage to say a CU state can't implement a travel ban for non-CU citizens as they have the right to do so, as it is not infringing on the CU laws. It might be a bit excessive in my eyes but that country would have made their assessment and determined the best solution for them

The Minister noted that the situation will be monitored. He is advising all Covonantians to practice healthy practices including washing of hands before meals, drinking plenty water, and avoiding international travel to affected countries if necessary.

The CBC will bring updates on the flu outbreak as they come in.

Prime Minister Marl says Covonant is a regional economic giant

Image
Prime Minister Marl at the Covonantian Business and Commerce Chamber (CBCC)

The Prime Minister of the Union of Covonant, Imperatus Marl, has stated that Covonant is a leading economic powerhouse, and is government played a major role in that occuring. Speaking to influential Covonantian business leaders at the Covonantian Business and Commerce Chamber, the Prime Minister in hoping to gain support from the business community express that his administration knows how to maintain economic growth.

My government through our economic programmes has made Covonant one of the largest economies in the Western Isles. With our support of a free market enterprise economic system, and the full liberalisation of our economy, we have witnessed growth over the five years than in other time in our nation's history.

The Prime Minister noted that Covonant can be the leading economic power in the region and his administration can make that a possibility.

At present the largest economy in the Western Isles is Polar Svalbard, we are not far from them in terms of economic growth, in fact we fall in the top 5 of largest economies. My administration can yield greater economic gains. We have always supported our business and commerce sector and for that I believe the Covonantian Business community can feel assured of the economy when we are in power

Many however are calling the Prime Minister's remarks a stale political rhetoric. Political commentator Mikael Stokes notes that the Prime Minister's comments are not really weighted as his administration has done little to ensuring the growth of the economy.

Image
Mikael Stoke, CBC Political commentator

I have to disagree wholeheartedly with the Prime Minister statement, and I feel bad that I always disagree with the Prime Minister but I think this is where he is jumping the gun with this one. He is right to say that Covonant has done extremely well economically, but how much as the government contributed to that, very little. His administration has done a very good job at staying out of the market, but we see where they act as creditors to corporations which raises some eyebrows, they have done well to attract foreign investment and to provide an environment for Covonantian business to grow where we can invest in other states, but there has been little government policies that really propelled growth in the economy and we see where for the 5 years the government has been using the same economic plans of the previous Emmanuel Stallone administration added to that, the benefits of being a part of the largest economic Union in the Isles has allowed our economy to grow twice as fast, as it is no secret that Covonant benefits more than any other member state in the CU followed by Noronica.

Mikael notes that the Prime Minister is using the gains made in the economy has a means to prop up support, and not just political support but financial as well.

Covonantian elections are very expensive, so the Prime Minister is really looking to gain some affluent supporters, and its obvious that that is what he is doing. Covonant has a strong economy but that is entirely due to the business community and foreign investment. The government has rarely intervened in the economy. The Prime Minister also made a statement that our economy grew within the past five years faster than any other period in our nation history. I see the PM needs a history lesson as we are nowhere near economic prowess as we were in the late 19th century. This is just politics.

Ministry of Defense (Maxum) announces extensive recruitment campaign

Image

The Ministry of Defense (Maxmum) is announcing that over the course of three months that an extensive campaign drive will be conducted to increase the numbers of Covonantians enlisted in the Armed Forces. Speaking to the CBC is Permanent Secretary at the Maxum Cyntia Griers.

Image
Cyntia Griers, Permanent Secretary in the Defense Ministry

The Ministry is concerned with the low level in growth of persons entering the Armed Forces. We will be doing a three month recruitment campaign to see those numbers rise exponentially.

Mrs. Griers notes that Covonant has a modern Armed Forces but is lacking with personnel to match even states that do not have advanced weaponry but have the manpower.

We have a very modern Armed Forces, but we identify that the challenge is that our numbers do not correlate with how our Armed Forces should be. We are working with the Universities and secondary schools to see how best we can attract Covonantians to joining the force. We are exploring scholarships, employment assurance, as well as seeing an increase in benefits granted to those who are enlisted into the force

Mrs. Griers is calling on the government to repeal the law that states mandatory enlistment should be restricted as she notes that it leads to the low recruitment that the Armed Force is witnessing.

First Round of Elections Stuns Nation

The first round of elections show a close victory for the Liberal Party in the National Diet, followed closely by the National Worker's Party. With only a few hours and most voting concluded, we can confirm that the the liberal faction has won the Diet. Asi Krala, outraged, has rallied support for a recount, wanting a third party source to verify votes believing the Duviric Church has skewed the votes. Electoral Officials call her claims unfounded, and many worry her unfounded claims will wane the legitimacy of Rumonsian democracy and its theocratic foundations.

The Archon, who is overseeing the elections as a neutral source, claims, "There is no reason or evidence to believe that votes have been miscounted or skewed. I would, like to remind candidate Krala however, that there are always several recounts following both rounds of the election before an official result is announced."

The next round, which is due to start tomorrow, will decide the First Consul, with Asi Krala and Drasi Qevar going head to head. Polling now shows an unsure outcome, as the vote has been completely split for Drasi Qevar with a win for the Liberals in National Diet.

Polling fluctuates every hour, between a Drasi victory, to an Asi victory with fierce demonstrations across the country from heated political opponents.

The third round of elections will be local governments, where the people will elect Arbiters. The make up of local governments is predicted to be mostly non-partisan, with the selection of Arbiters yet again being unsure.

Fairbanks: Alaskan Health officials have reportedly petitioned the Atnaian NHS for a sample of the ticking flu, likely in response to a series of suspicious deaths throughout the province. The Kodiak medical examiner in particular has been sounding the alarm about a series of deaths of suspected narcotics overdoses that upon closer examination did not resemble what an overdose death would look like postmortem. Officials are tight lipped about whatever or not they have isolated the pathogen responsible, with a spokesperson merely stating..

"We would like to have a sample of pathogen on the off chance we do happen to see cases of the tickling flu, by having a known sample we could expedite confirming any possible cases that might arise in the future, rather than loose precious time identifying it ourselves."

Travencia City: The main library downtown has finished its refurbishment weeks ahead of schedule, and will be reopening for patrons by the end of the week. It coincides with improvements to broadband infrastructure around the city in its quest to be entirely fiber optic by 2020. The library project was partly funded by generous donations from TravNet, the regions largest internet provider that isn't also a cable or phone provider. The hardest part of the project was refurbishing the gilded room, which is the original shell of the 1867 library building which now houses its rare book collection.

Currently it is known that pharmaceutical companies in Nyonji are working towards a cure and hope to find a cure in the near future.

Dominick Lim at a press conference earlier today

The Prime Minister has said in a press conference today that Somstratzka will continue it's plan of developing bilateral ties with surrounding nations. He has yet again reminded the public that "these bilateral ties will open up a wide variety of possibilities for the nation as well as keeping us (the public) safe from threats from other nations." The administration has said that the Prime Minister will be making many political visits to neighboring nations as to strengthen ties as well as opening up trade deals with nations in the north. Member of Parliament for Muara has said that, "this set of plans should be a good stepping stone for an overall stronger nation as well as help Somstratzka in the world of foreign affairs." A short transcript of Dominick Lim's speech is available below:

"Today I'm here to confirm several things about our foreign policy. Firstly, we will be continuing our developing of bilateral ties. These bilateral ties are integral to Somstratzka's well being as these bilateral ties will open up a wide variety of possibilities for the nation as well as keeping us safe from threats from other nations. Secondly, we will for the first time in history be willing to open up trade deals with nations that reside further up north. Be it of food, oil and such, we will be open to such trade and hope for great economic development from such interaction with northern World Powers."

Pro-socialist and former United Eurania deputies impeached President Chenenko and Prime Minister Geneva Arkanian.

The Nationov Zoviet, the legislature of the Federation, removed the two from their offices with a vote of no confidence by 63%-37%. According to the NZ and the Ministry of Justice, the two will not face prosecution, rather simply will simply become Deputies of the NZ.

Geneva Arkanian has spoken out against the act. 'What have I done that has caused anything bad?' she attacked the Deputies who impeached her. Her former superior, however, has been largely silently. According to the Ministry of Health, Angela Chenenko's health, mentally and physically, was deteriorating, and she was removed for safety.

In replacement for the missing heads, the NZ has appointed the Chairman of the All Union Party, the successor to the United Eurania and Communist Party, as the acting president of the Federation, which is Ilyan Yurovsky.

'We strive to continue to works of what we have done.' he told reporters at his acceptance gala.

Ilyan Yurovsky is a former majorov (major) in the Euranian Armed Forces, specifically the Military Police, which dissolved in 2017 and whose assets were transferred to the SGBR. He joined politics in the late 1990s as a member of Yuvignon's (now St. Petrovkia's) Zoviet. In 2003, he became part of the Stavkan republic legislature, and in 2014, became a deputy of the Parliament. Joining United Eurania following its creation, he became the Chairman by vote after United Eurania merged with the Communist Party.
