Congress Votes on Supreme Court nomination

President Falco addresses the Senate

In a semi-controversial move, the Senate has voted in favor of approving President Falco's Supreme Court nomination, Former CEO Jean-Paul Eliot. Speaking passionately about removing restrictions on local businesses, the President urged Congress to vote in favor of the move. "We need to get people working, and the best way is to show we support the working man." President Falco stated before Congress.

A 56% majority voted in favor of the nomination, showing that this move was possible only with a unified coalition between several parties.

Many believe that this move had other motives besides the economical gains for the country; this could have been an opportune moment to help Vice-President Valerio's chances in the upcoming Presidential elections. Currently third in the polls, but rising, thanks to this measure, Valerio still has to fight past Socialist Coalition candidate Luigi Zappa, and Women's Advocates candidate Lelia Valenti.

Justice is Served! Murderer of Family of Four Found Dead



Hi! Intern Reporter Aya S. reporting in! I'll be handling this article in the BYS News as a part of my internship, so please bear with me for this time!

"Justice will be served," were the words of Officer O'Hara, one of the first officers to arrive at the scene and arguably the most optimistic of the authorities present. Of course, such an attitude would bear great fruits, for today the murderer was discovered!

To the great horror of the investigators, the Legendary Starsian Seamstress, Kayo S., renowned for her good attitude and her fine clothwork, was found in her shop dead and surrounded by the missing garments of the murdered family, which were strewn around her floor. Underneath the youngest sister's kimono was a pair of bloodstained scissors. The seamstress had evidently committed suicide using those scissors, the same weapon used in the murder of the family.

The seamstress's body was taken by authorities at 3:00 PM to the city hospital for a post-mortem examination.

"it's quite shocking," head examiner Dr. David Pham commented as the body was brought into the examination room. "The murder of a family and then the murderer's suicide. I am truly interested to see if the autopsy will reveal anything helpful. This whole case is quite confusing and we of course want to help."

Initial examination focused on the slash wounds inflicted on the body, confirming the use of the scissors as the suicide weapon. As of 9:30 PM, however, medical examiners have not responded with any further results of the autopsy. We are standing by and will update with further news.

This however, has not affected the side of war, at least so far, against the MSTO. Eurania may leave the war, or it may fight. In other news, the industries have been removed from the public sector, and has became privatized, although certain corporations, such as the Zyklom Design Bureau, have not left the public sector.

The relationship with the now-former allies New Aapelistan and Cottoria, along with the MSTO and the rest of the region is not certain.

Yesterday a ship filled with vast barrels of water arrived at The Aussie Outback to supply the most dry areas with water. The aid cost the Doubi government $1,000,000 but it was worth it says Doubi president, Sam Richards. This has boosted diplomatic relations with Aussie and Doubi hopes to open trade links.

When the water arrived the whole country went wild with joy, the water is expected to last for long enough for a new water source to be found. Doubi is also funding this scientific research.

At Winter's End Close to Release

The highly anticipated film, At Winter's End, is set to be released soon, following up the previous film, Into the Endless White. The film is part two of the series based on Jane Aerea's book series that romanticized the History of the First Queen into an ethereal, wondrous tale of magic and war, peace and love. The first part deals with the Queen's rise to the throne through the Tournament of Ascension. where she defeated the rest of the contestors to the throne. Fans were consistenly pleased with the film, which had garnered a huge fan base due to the populatiry of Aerea's series.

Much of the film series as well as the books are based partially in fact, such as the Tournament of Ascension being akin to the Trials of Wisdom, though more violent, and the Queen's Aire Faction being based off of the Aerthe Faction that ruled from the Court of Air, in Port Haven. The First Queen behaves much like the mythical Queen Aëla I, according to historical records.

At Winter's End continues the series, hinting at unrest on the bordering kingdoms and impending war. The Second book of the series details the Spring War, where Dália protects against overseas invasion. However, much of the inner material is yet to be known.

Casting for the film remains the same, with Varén Jeule playing the role of Aële, and Cassian Almotyr playing Tyrell Anthiosadelle.

Smirnoff-1 Commences Construction



CarpAir's Henry Wadsworth announced today that Smirnoff-1 has officially commenced construction as of today. Right now, scientists from across Carpestan and engineers from CarpAir have commenced on the first stage of the Smirnoff-1: designing the Propulsion System for the rocket. Currently they are doing a series of materials testing on potential substances that could be used to construct the pumps, nozzles, and oxidizers of the rocket. Although Wadsworth admits they have been approached by defense contractors from the military, he has consistently refused such aid, citing the danger of an unholy alliance between economy and state. He maintains that the only purpose of Smirnoff-1 is to encourage space exploration.

Smirnoff-1 continues to enjoy a high popularity, with polls placing it at around a 78% approval rating from the Carpestani public, although still unpopular in the manufacturing, CSP-controlled counties in the Trination area touching Bonodia and Kylava, on average, polling around 19-23%.

Shootout brings drama to shadow war on Drugs


Lately, the government's war on drugs has been so what heard of but unseen by most of the public. That changed today. Members of the Whistling Cobra Cartel struck back against the government with an attack on a police function in Sringapor. They killed three officers but the gangsters lost five men. A message was left by the attackers, saying that more violence would follow if the war on drugs is not abandoned. We support the war on drugs and hope that all of these evil men will be removed from our lands.

Mysterious! Foreign Criminal Organization Enters the Capital



A foreign crime organization going by the name "Père Noël" has revealed itself to the public. Television channels and radio broadcasts from all over Bloody Yellow Stars were disrupted by unknown technology as the voice of the organization's leader, introducing herself by the name of Julia A., made it very clear that the organization was now active in the nation's capital city. Although this seems to be a cause for alarm, the leader revealed no malicious intent toward the nation or its people.

"This news will likely be of concern to the Starians," Père Noël Leader Julia A. acknowledged in her surprise broadcast to the nation. "But we do not intend to harm the people of this nation, nor do we intend to stir up fear or violence. We only wish to announce our presence to the nation."

Residents of New Starsia are being advised by authorities to resume their daily activities with caution. Although signs of Père Noël's activities have not been made apparent as of yet, many are sure that incidents will begin to come up particularly in the cities and other locations of interest.

"This is an issue of utmost importance that requires immediate and drastic action!" President of the Board of Public Safety and Well-Being Amy Scott declared in her address to the public. "Père Noël is obviously an organization that, because of its nature, is going to inevitably pose a threat to public safety. Bloody Yellow Stars should do everything that it can to root out this problem!"

Minister of Foreign Relations John Clark, however, disagrees with such an approach. "We should wait and see what happens before we make any rash decisions," he said in response to Scott's words in his own address to the public. "Père Noël has made it clear that they do not wish to cause any trouble to Bloody Yellow Stars, and we should them the benefit of the doubt, lest we actually cause the violence that we want to avoid to break out."

With these conflicting opinions, a definite course of action has not been chosen yet. Only time will tell what happens with Père Noël at this point, and from the tension in New Starsia it looks to be shaky future.

This coming June 19 will be a massive celebration that our great country hasn't seen in nearly ten years. First Bomb Detonated!



Finally, the independence and sovereignty of the Imperial Government and People is guaranteed! A bomb was detonated within an underground base located within the Davmwoem mountains. The bomb was 50 kt, about the size of 4 Hiroshima bombs. Testing was reported to be successful.

A riot this morning in Highrock lasted 2 hours before being broken up by riot police. An economist who was already unpopular for his left wing politics stated "Our economy would do better if we opened up to Keomora. We are holding ourselves back, and were truly better under the last regime."

This insensitive comment of us being better under the past dictator Lev Bezcitný started a riot. About 100 men were a part of this. Ghardier tried to flee, but was captured and hung from a lamp post by the rioters. It quickly turned anti-Keomoran as an unknown rioter began to chant "death to the barbarians of Keomora". Under his direction a flag was burned, and they shot at a picture of Katherine.

Riot police were dispatched, and they broke up the riot with tear gas. All were arrested for disturbing peace, holding up traffic, and 5 were held for the murder of Ghardier.

They will go to court soon. It has been determined that a majority of them were drunk at the time of the riot, including the leader.

Emperor Markus stated "Please, I urge you to remain calm. The issue at hand has been taken care of. You all know these rioters were not typical Imperials, if they were Imperial at all. I urge you to remember this when you grab a bottle. Drink with moderation, and have a sober friend with you when you do drink. I do not issue an apology to Keomora, because this was not an action of mine. But I will say that this is not typical, most Imperials are very open to foreign nations."

Terrorists attack Benezandria

Terror swept the capital today as a series of attack left more than 500 people dead in one of the bloodiest assaults in the country's history since the Days of Iron. The sheer scale of the mayhem-thirteen separate attacks- left authorities reeling- including a popular shopping center, and the Bernini Stadium. The government immediately declared a state of emergency, sealing off roads and instated heavy border patrols. Sirens blared across the city as police and emergency workers rushed to respond. Authorities said an hour ago that nearly all of the attackers were either dead or apprehended. Yet the seemingly coordinated attacks left Keomora’s intelligence and security services facing one of their worst nightmare scenarios: several armed groups moving undetected and wreaking havoc simultaneously.



“An unprecedented terrorist attack is under way,” President John Darkwill said in a televised address shortly after he himself had been evacuated from the stadium. “This is a horror.”

As a precaution, police urged Benezandrians to stay home and avoid outdoor public events. The Benezandria prosecutor’s office said there could be more than 500 deaths in all. 43 “terrorists” were killed, seven of them in suicide bombings and 13 captured, said a spokeswoman for the office, adding that the figures were preliminary and could change.



One of the highest death toll was at the Keylen, a popular concert venue. Police estimates ranged from around 150 to more than 200, with hundreds injured.

Gunmen began mowing down spectators, taking others hostage before they blew themselves up using explosive belts when police moved in, authorities said.

Twelve people were killed as police took control of the building, police said; it wasn’t clear if that included the attackers.

“It seems unreal. We saw bodies falling from the balconies,” said one woman who was inside the Keylen, speaking on BKM television. “They said nothing except that it’s Empress Karma's fault that they wanted to kill us all.”

Empress Katherine proclaimed her intention of visiting the scene, promising to fight back. “We’re going into battle. We will be pitiless,” she said.

Another 78 people were killed in five separate shootings in the 10th and 11th discrtics, according to the city’s chief prosecutor Devons Molins. The area to the east and south of Place of Liberty is typically thronged with college students and workers eating lunch.

The head of police in Benezandria said gunmen walked down the streets, shooting at people in cafes and restaurants.

"I... I don't know what I saw," said a horrified student, "we were just eating when they came... and... and when they just started shooting. Men, women, children it did not matter. And now I just ask why? Who could do this?"

Other attackers set off at least two explosions outside the Bernini soccer stadium, where a large crowd, including Mr. Darkwill, had gathered to watch the Kervora-Benezandria match. Play continued but spectators later streamed onto the field and out the exits.

But perhaps one of the most horrifying attack was on Ellens Maternity Hospital. Veteran policement who entered were reported to have run outside vomiting the moment they made it outside. The building was closed off but one could not ignored the haunting look of the officers and the ominous feeling of dread that there were no survivors.


It is still unclear of who is responsible of these heinous attacks but it has been speculated that one of the terrorists was Jahenian.

Flags everywhere in Keomora have been raised halfway to mourn the loss at the capital.

"They sought to break us," commented the Empress," to make us cower in fear. But whoever was responsible will learn that Keomorans will endure. We will get justice for those massacred in cold blood. Keomora remembers."

Voter Predictions Point to Major Changes

If true, the UI could be in trouble

Recent political survey results have come in, and if they hold true, it does not paint a pretty picture for the Independent Union party in the upcoming elections. Currently, holding 23 seats in the Senate, the UI is projected to fall fast, and hard. Independent polls taken estimate that the UI could lose as many as 10 seats in the upcoming elections, possibly to both the left-based Workers' Guild party and the right-wing Advance party. This would be the single most disasterous loss in the party's history, as well as the second biggest loss in an election cycle since the 1983 split between the Advance party and the newly formed national Unity party, which later became the New Tomorrow party.

The UI's chances at winning the Presidency are likely as bleak as the Senatorial Elections. Coming in with 19% of the vote back in 2008, narrowly losing to the now President Giovanni Falco and the Advance party, the UI won the 2012 senate with from them with 18.4% of the vote. However, the narrow wins and recent polls seem to show that the other 6 national parties are just as appealing, if not more so.
Silvio Terzi, running for his third time as the candidate for the UI, believes that his party can do it, though. "The left-right paradigm has managed to foster a hostile political environment in many nations. We want to prevent that from happening here. Both sides have valid points, valid concerns, and if we just show the people we are not as extreme, I think we really can do it."

While the UI is not the only party currently projected to lose members, it seems that not all parties are looking bad. The Advance party and the Social Democrats appear poised to win out from the election in a big way. Additionally, despite critics claiming the Women's Advocates are a party based on misandry, they Appear to be doing well in several states.

This is why. God has spoken to me. He was whispered Keomora, silent to everyone else, but thunderous shouts to me. Piet Pondes, great composer and very wise man, spoke out against Keomora. A drunk even says things about Keomora. But this was not enough for me. I wondered the Davmwoem mountains as I like to do, and looked down upon the holy child of God, Jerusalem.

I felt something in the snow. I brushed it off. It was a sword. It was inscribed "Deus providebit viam ad caelum", which is latin for God will provide a way to heaven. I dug more. I found a second sword. I read it. It said "Non veni pacem mittere sed gladium, which is "I come not to bring peace, but a sword". Any true Imperial knows what I mean now. I dug, and found a helmet. I truthally say, I found the Grandmaster's Armor. Just the armor, no body. I believe that while some will say the body decayed, I saw God brought his prophet home, and left this armor for the next prophet.

"I now know I must fight Keomora. I am the 2nd Grandmaster, the one who was meant to finish the work of the first. He held of the Emperor himself for hours! Imagine what I can do with the Legion of Dawn, Jerusalem's citizen army!

Do not be saddened by the lose of our brothers and sisters, who gave their lives or will soon give their lives for the cause. They will become Nobles of Jerusalem next to God's throne in the afterlife! The citizens of Keomora, I say to you, I do this for you. Your lives are sickening. You are bound to be banished to the lake of fire. But do not despair. Your fellow citizens who died are not in the lake of fire. They have been cleansed by the holy forces, and now wait in the afterlife, realizing their sins, and hoping you repent and join them. Please consider this. What is a girl Empress going to do against God?

Now, I have been told of an attack in Keomora, and watched footage. I have read the letter from the Legion. We are shocked to hear of this. This level of violence and lack of mercy appalls me. Why do children deserve to die because of a conflict between our great great great grandfathers? They do not. Jerusalem, as they called it, was not meant to be a city of blood and hate, it was meant to be heaven on earth. This is not right, and I hope that Keomora believes me when I say we will help them in this. I still hate them, but they do not deserve this. I think of our children when I see the bodies on footage, and I am reduced to tears.

I also say that the fact of the Grandmaster's armor being found is completely false. A person walking across snow could not feel a sword that has been buried under centuries of snow. I am most appalled that they bend history to their will. I truly believe that this is false, but may God have mercy on them if it is true.

Worst Terror Attack since Doubish Insurgent Bombings

Shooting brings city to a standstill

Today a terror attack was committed at PM international airport in the capital.

Several gunmen opened fire in several airline lounges killed 32 people and then went to detonate suicide bombs killing a further 62 and injuring 43 high power civilians and government personal.

The bombings happened at 12:43 PM at the peak of travel. No one has been held responsible yet but some think it may be a party of insurgents attempting to start a revolution. The airport was closed and is expected to remain so closed for several weeks.

C: Well I was sitting down on my laptop when i heard screams sand gunfire and ducked under my seat

C: No I was crawling away then I heard a bang and a bomb went off launching the seats and bodies around me flying across the room

C: No luckily I managed to not get seriously injured

Parliamentary Debate Over Currency Control Rages On



Debate in Parliament has raged on after a new bill was presented last week over the issue of currency control. Currently, a majority of the country's Rajarahs are printed by the National Mint Service, but this has sparked concerns from officials all over Carpestan over possible hyperinflation that could possibly lead to a recession. Economist Jeffrey Ginsburg and historian Samuel Paulson, both of whom testified before Parliament regarding their positions on the issue, noted in an article published in the CFT last year that the Depression of 1981 and the Recession of 1992-93 were the result of the extreme devaluation of the Rajarah because of the great influx of money into the economy by the National Mint to spend on bailing out Silverman Sacks, the country's 4th-largest investment bank.

Polls show that the country itself is split over the issue of currency control.

Maintain the National Mint Service - 38%
Devolve authority to local banks - 35%
Eliminate and give monetary power to individuals - 27%

This sharp divide is most definitely reflected in the debates in Parliament. The fight does not seem to be divided along party lines, but rather seems to be a fight between CSP and SEP leadership and the rest of Parliament. The CSP and SEP are both pushing for the preservation of the National Mint Service, although their rationales differ greatly. MP Ilyn Zaheer (CSP) stated, "The National Mint Service was erected to prevent an oligarchy from controlling our money and defrauding the Carpestani people. This fight does not end here." MP Harris Olvyn (SEP) also issued a statement, stating that "Our business community needs a source of security if Carpestan's economy is to maintain its strong standing in The Western Isles. Only the National Mint Service has provided that."

However, the rest of the CSP and SEP, as well as the FTP and EPP have expressed disapproval of the National Mint Service, for fear of the formation of an oligarchy, but their solutions are all different. The CSP opponents advocate devolving the establishment of the National Service into regional Mints, a practice that has been supported by President Rubinstein. The SEP advocates devolving authority entirely to local banks, while the FTP advocates taking this further and instituting a Silver Standard, in which silver coins and bars can be exchanged for Rajarahs. Nonetheless, this issue has caused the SEP to lose its steam among working-class voters as more and more favor the FTP.

Just as the government was beginning to wind down for the day, just as things seemingly were calm, a frenzy has started. Military and Foreign Advisers have been called back to the Palace of Ambridge, and a state of emergency has been declared. Why has this all been done? We are in danger of losing our lives.

After the mysterious rush and awakening of the government again, a press conference was held to explain why such a thing had happened. Returning straight from the Dorlec meeting, King William James wasted no time in preparing for what he believes could be our worst days. Taking to the podium looking rushed and worried, William said this:

Eutristinians, you are in danger. Your way of life, your country, your very existence could be brought to an end. Tonight the terrorist organization by the alias the Legion of Dawn has made a terrible foreshadowing. "The very edge of the mortal plane, will see a change of the landscape, and those who believe will lose their chain." The mortal plane obviously represents an aircraft, the change in landscape representing the destruction of something, the loss of chain is the loss of mortality that is death. Markus, you must see this. All of Jahe Davmwoem, you must know. The Legion of Dawn will turn its guns on its own. You will fall victim of a great tragedy, an attack by hijacked plane. Eutristan is already readying for such an event, I suggest you do the same.

It is not clear when the state of emergency will end, or whether or not a military campaign will be launched in order to exterminate the Legion of Dawn completely. All is known is that all air travel has been ended, and the government has sent out a warning that all aircraft flying over the country after an hour grace period will be asked by radio to land. If any suspicion of hijacking is apparent the planes will be shot down immediately. All states of emergency last two days, and the government must appeal in order to gain extension.
