Official missive of Primate Urban III on the Civil War in San Jimenez
The enemies of the church are numerous, and they lurk in the shadows of all humanity. Within our hearts, there are the temptations to sin, to break our covenant with God. Satan has his ministry over the lost souls, who he turns against the flock of God like a good dog made wild by the rapturous taste of blood which now hunts the flock we was made to defend. This sad truth has been manifest on the fields and cities of San Jimenez, and the redemption of a nation has cost the blood of many martyrs.
It was months ago that I wrote a declaration of the Church's disagreement with the political situation in this nation, when the tides of secular change were first washing over there. I wrote that such radical actions to try and unseat the cross would inevitably result in hardships. These words were not heeded, and elements of Jiminean society saw fit to enact an orgy of bloodletting against the innocent clergy of the nation. The churches, the houses of God, became charnel houses devoted to the devil.
As servants of the lord, we are dedicated to following the commandments that our lord and saviour established for us. When a group arises that is anathema to our faith, who actively persecute us, defence is important. As we state in the catechism, legitimate defence is not only a right but a duty on the believer. The people of San Jimenez, the blessed Guadalupanas, did this.
They fought the evil where they fought it, the fire of the lord in their hearts. By his grace, they were victorious. Deus io voluit, atque factum est. This is the position of the church, may it be unambiguous. The fight of the Guadalupanas was the fight of our church, and their victory should warm the hearts of our flock. We have witnessed the earthly manifestation of his will, and should rejoice.
