Cary Post: Interview

Image

The personal residence of Peter Hall, Lancaster, Renet

The following is a transcript of the interview between Cary Post Chief Correspondent Kenneth Braith and Renetian Prime Minister Peter Hall. The Cary Post did not receive any favors for this. The interview will air on the Renetian News Network at four o’clock this afternoon.

Transcript written by Kevin Smith of the Cary Post

(Braith looks at the camera from the couch in Hall’s living room, wearing a black three-piece suit with a light blue dress shirt and a dark blue tie.

Braith: Good evening, Renet. This afternoon, I am again interviewing Prime Minister Peter Hall, this time at his personal residence in his hometown of Lancaster. As the Assembly is due to begin its next session in the next couple of days, the focus of today’s interview will be on domestic policy. We’ll broach the foreign policy topics towards the end of the interview.

(Braith turns to Hall, who is sitting in his recline chair across from the Chief Correspondent attired in a dark gray three-piece suit with a white dress shirt and a dark blue tie).

Braith: Good afternoon, Prime Minister.

Hall: Good afternoon to you as well, Kenneth. What is your first question?

Braith: As President Nanney has reduced his official activities in recent months, you are now the effective leader of Renet. Do you and the cabinet have any intention of proposing new legislation for the next session of the Assembly?

Hall: Yes, we do. We’re planning on introducing two new pieces of legislation. The first is a new Nuclear Power Act, to lay a blueprint for the building of modern nuclear power plants in the safest way possible. The second is another Medical Care Act, to reintroduce the prescription drug benefit to the National Health Service that was repealed during the Davis administration.

Braith: That Nuclear Power Act is likely to pass by with minimal if any, opposition. But as you know, Prime Minister, there is a significant number of conservative-leaning United Republican legislators in the Assembly. You are generally considered the leader of the conservative wing of your party. They aren’t likely to support another prescription drug benefit to the NHS.

Hall: If you remember, the conservative wing proceeded to lose most of its seats in the midterms after that repeal to the Progressive and Social Democratic factions of the National Progressive Coalition. I have faith most of them can be persuaded to realize that voting this Act down is not going to be good for our party in the upcoming midterms.

Braith: What if they can’t see reason? The Social Democrats got the initial service created before the Imperial War by coaxing more liberal members of the original United Republican Party into voting for its passage. The moderates and conservatives were never on board.

Hall: I’m sure bipartisanship can get the job done if reason cannot persuade them.

Braith: Regarding the topic of foreign policy, what do you think of the Throngist regime on Cano Isle? First Secretary Teca Viltin is the leader of a reformist faction of Throngists and has made the first efforts at relaxing repression and allowing freedom of information. What do you think of these developments?

Hall: That is a good first step, but First Secretary Viltin has long odds ahead of him if he wishes to bring about a gentler version of Throngism. I don’t doubt his commitment to reform, as he is the first leader of his party to even enact these measures. Nor do I believe Marshal Scadi and his strange regime have the manpower or the resources to plant their flag over Cano Isle. What I doubt is the Hardline faction of his party quietly abiding Viltin’s efforts at reform without concessions or even resistance.

Braith: Would you be willing to recognize either regime’s sovereignty over Lesva?

Hall: Not in the slightest. We will continue to recognize their Republican government-in-exile as the rightful rulers of Lesva.

Braith: Thank you for your time, Prime Minister.

Hall: I thank you for allowing me this interview, Kenneth.

Braith: This is Kenneth Braith of the Cary Post for the Renetian News Network, signing out.

SPECIAL BROADCAST ACROSS CANE ISLO

First Secretary Teca Viltin: “Cane Islo exists outside the jurisdictions of the United Federation of Gael and the Eastern Tripartite”

While Throngist Cane Islo is going through demonstrations in favor of and against the denouncement of Taica Berislavic, Crisi Ghanem and Viktor Kovac, First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva, the Honorable Teca Viltin, addressed a different topic, when once again speaking before Members of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva.

First Secretary Teca Viltin declared that Cane Islo, where the Throngist Republic of Lesva continues its’ legal existence, is not part of the jurisdictions of the United Federation of Gael and the Eastern Tripartite. The First Secretary clarified that Cane Islo or the Lesvan Throngist Republic is not declaring withdrawal from the United Federation or ET, because Cane Islo is still part of the same territorially integral sovereign state together with the mainland. However, it just so happens that the larger portion, that is the mainland, is controlled by the Scadi dictatorship, which is retaining membership in ET and staying part of the United Federation. For the sake of Lesvan territorial integrity, the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva is not declaring a separate withdrawal of Cane Islo from ET or the United Federation, but rather declaring that the jurisdictions of ET and the United Federation do not apply to Cane Islo, even if they still apply to the Scadi-controlled mainland.

First Secretary Teca Viltin described Cane Islo as a sovereign self-governing territory and the true Corner of Liberty in contrast to what the Scadi-controlled mainland represents today.

Dispersal warning from Police, Military and Militia has contained the growth and activity of pro-denouncement and anti-denouncement demonstrations

Returning to the topic of demonstrations in favor and against the denouncement of Taica Berislavic, Crisi Ghanem and Viktor Kovac, the declaration by Police, Military and the Carmineshirts Militia about preparations to disperse the demonstrations in the next 4-5 days, has had a psychological effect. Both rival pro-denouncement and anti-denouncement demonstrations have stopped growing and being so active, which is attributed to the declarations by Police, Military and Militia about readiness to disperse the unapproved demonstrations. With these kind of tendencies, It is likely the demonstrations will end earlier and before the approximate dispersal date.

Marshal Iuna Scadi signs Decree, authorizing 90-day visa free travel for Solaryia

Following a return from Solaryia, Marshal Iuna Scadi has signed a Decree, which establishes 90 days of visa-free travel for citizens of Solaryia to the Lesvan State

Marshal Iuna Scadi has recently returned from an official visit to Solaryia, which was the first country visited outside of Gael and the second country visited overall. The visited had a lot of impact and left an impression on the National Leader. Upon return, the Marshal signed a new Decree, a second executive order so far, authorizing the introduction of 90-day visa exemption for citizens of Solaryia entering the Lesvan State. Marshal Iuna Scadi stated that this measure is unilateral and the Lesvan State does not obligate Solaryia to reciprocate. The Marshal added that like other visa rules of the Lesvan State, the current visa exemption only applies to the territory of the Lesvan State and not the Freedom of Movement within the United Federation of Gael, clarifying that the Lesvan State's visa policy does not grant entry into the territory of the Balniki Federation. After signing the Decree, Marshal Iuna Scadi expressed hope that the bilateral relations between the Lesvan State and Solaryia would continue to evolve, strengthen and prosper.

SPECIAL BROADCAST ACROSS CANE ISLO

First Secretary Teca Viltin outlines the "Humane and Dignified Throngism" program for continuing reforms

Image

Altered design of the National Flag of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, used on Cane Islo controlled by the Government of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva in opposition to the Scadi regime in control of the Lesvan mainland.

Speaking before Members of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva on managing demonstrations, the election campaign and about the first Party Congress since the coup on the mainland and relocation of the Party Authority to Cane Islo, reformist First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva, the Honorable Teca Viltin, once again addressed reforms. During the entire discussion, First Secretary Teca Viltin declared that reforms should continue, in order to save Throngism, restore people's faith in it and keep Throngism moving forward with innovative changes that can allow for competition with other political systems. The First Secretary did face criticism from some Party hardliners that the rapid changes, many of which the hardliners are struggling to agree with, are risking to undercut Throngism and they are also contributing to division and strife, when in fact Throngist Cane Islo should remain solid and united. However, accepting the constructive criticism, First Secretary Teca Viltin insisted the reforms are a lifeline to Throngist survival and evolution. The First Secretary introduced the program of "Humane and Dignified Throngism" as a doctrine and road map for reshaping Throngism for the future, based on lessons learned from past mistakes of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva.

Is Throngism actually reforming and are there actual changes taking place on the Throngist-controlled Cane Islo?

Image

Altered design of the national flag of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, used on Cane Islo controlled by the regime of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva in opposition to the Scadi regime in control of mainland Lesva.

Throngist-controlled Cane Islo, in what may have not been expected by anybody, is undergoing major changes through the recently launched reforms by the reformist First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party Teca Viltin, a figure who already made himself notorious for strategically contributing to the conclusion of the post-Revolution conflict in Lesva only to have pro-Throngist mutineers and Throngist loyalists seize control of Cane Islo, when the current regime of Marshal Iuna Scadi in the mainland least expected it and was not prepared for.

Viltin launched major unprecedented reforms for the Throngist system. It would not be an exaggeration to describe them as historic. The ousted Throngist regime, now based in Cane Islo and controlling that Lesvan island after seizing it from the Scadi regime, relocated to the captured Cane Islo from temporary sanctuary in Najimam, where it escaped to, after being overthrown by Scadi in mainland Lesva. The reforms conducted under Viltin’s “Humane and Dignified Throngism” program have been described by Viltin as necessary and unavoidable. As mentioned previously, it seemed that nobody may have been expecting these reforms, with Viltin himself possibly not even believing he would be able to conduct them or even if he should try. However, since leading a Throngist takeover of Cane Islo and seeking to resuscitate the overthrown Throngist regime there, it seems the first ever reformist to lead the Party, now believes along with his reformist faction that the Throngists have been put in a position, where they would have to reform to survive, not to mention if they had hope of returning to power over Lesva. Viltin carefully blamed Throngist hardliners and moderates for rejecting change, which destroyed Lesvans’ belief in Throngism in a prelude to Scadi’s Revolution and the developed apathy in the later Throngist period led to an easy overthrow of the system by Scadi’s revolutionaries.

In this ongoing quasi-liberalization, Lesvans on Cane Islo will now have first quasi-elections, where they will get to choose which Throngists would get to be in the Throngist government, as long as they are Throngists and as long as it’s a Throngist government. In more significant changes, censorship is being relaxed and freedom of information is being introduced, opening up Lesvans on Cane Islo to an awesome wave of a whole new world washing over them, as long as the said information is not pro-Scadi. The legacy of past bloody tyrants like Berislavic has been thrown away into the trash bin of history. Throngist-controlled Cane Islo declares itself to be outside of jurisdictions of the United Federation of Gael and the Eastern Tripartite (ET), while claiming that Cane Islo and mainland Lesva remain part of the same sovereign state despite different governments de facto ruling each part. This latter declaration signals that Throngist-controlled Cane Islo is geopolitically no longer in the same bloc that Throngist Lesva entered in its’ early history since the Saela Spring. Now, Throngist-controlled Cane Islo is in the process of creating its’ own media.

However, questions remain for observers of these developments. Viltin described the changes as “necessary” or “forced”, even though him and his faction were always pro-change, but reformists were always part of a marginalized minority in a Throngist regime dominated by hardliners and moderates. Taking all of these factors into account, question remains whether these changes are genuine or a temporary “crisis management” measure to win over people’s support for Throngism and for the Party and whether the hardliners will not put a stop to Viltin’s liberalization course, if it turns out that his intentions are genuine and that he does continue to push further.

— Jokerto, Jogja

Jogja is approaching elections this year. Various preparations to support facilities and infrastructure have been made previously. The Election Committee (Komite Pemilu) as the only public institution authorized to organize elections in Jogja said "The campaign period for each political party has finished, now is the quiet period for the next 30 days until the election is held". Reported directly from the election committee office in Jokerto, this year's election will use a new mechanism in its implementation. This mechanism is an online voting system which will increase election transparency to the public.

The election committee told the Jogja News that the system was called "Rekdapat" or an acronym for Rekapitulasi Data Pemilu Terpusat (Centralized Election Data Recapitulation). "Yes, that's right sir. We have previously formed a team to develop this system or application and we will test it later during this year's elections," said a spokesperson for the election committee. Rekdapat is expected to become a center for collecting massive vote counting data in 19 prefectures so that it can speed up the vote counting process to be more efficient than in previous years.

Then what is the mechanism for collecting election vote data through Rekdapat. Reporting from the official page of Rekdapat, after completing the election, each voting location first counts the votes manually and then witnessed and signed by the entire committee on the official report sheet. The event report sheet will later be uploaded to the Rekdapat page for reporting election results and will be verified and ratified by the central election committee.

The Emperor Hamengkubuwono X suggested that the system could continue to be developed to form good and committed public transparency.

Changes to Medical Aid Program

The medical aid program is a system in the national Doman Healthcare network that provides health insurance to low income citizens. The program was established in 1991 and covers over 800,000 citizens. The program provides the elderly, working adults, and children (through their parents) with medical insurance, allowing many of them to receive much needed medical care, such as prescriptions and guaranteed access to health experts. The program has been viewed favorably since its inception, with 84% of people voting in favor of it.

Despite this, the program has been undergoing changes since its creation, and this is no different. Earlier today, congress voted to implement some changes into the program.

Starting January 15th of 2025, those who currently qualify for the Medical Aid Program and all future applicants must provide proof of gainful employment to continue coverage under the Medical Aid Program. The change was voted on with the idea of making sure those that actually need the program are getting the best treatment, while those who have alternative means are also getting the best treatment possible. Additionally, dependents must be actively enrolled in school to be covered by their parents Medical Aid benefits.

This change is estimated to remove as many as 200,000 people from the Medical Aid Program, many of whom are disabled or elderly and can't find gainful employment. It could also remove as many as 20,000 children from the program due to disabilities or other reasons for being unable to attend school.

The government estimates that these changes will save the national health insurance plan up to $750 million by requiring these individuals to get better health coverage. There are many citizens who critique this change as cruel. With as many as 250,000 or more people potentially losing their health insurance, and nearly 3% of the population having more restrictions placed on them for simply having a lower income.

Village Revitalization

For years Domanania has experienced the rapid urbanization of the country, lead by thousands of mostly young people leaving rural villages and towns for higher paying jobs in the cities. This has led to the depopulation of large parts of the Doman countryside, with many villages and small towns struggling to maintain sustainable population levels.

As per constitutional responsibilities the provincial and federal governments have been nationalizing an increasing amount of homes and former businesses that fall short of the expectations of the law. This has become a bureaucratic hassle, with every nationalization needed to be approved by congress and the supreme court, which covers everything from commercial parks to single family homes. In 2023, roughly 2,000 buildings were nationalized, most of which being former houses or apartments.

To combat this, provincial governments have instituted the Village Revitalization Act, which was passed by congress earlier this week. This act will simply require houses in rural villages be organized under the new Homeowner Organization (HOO), which will set up a extragovernmental organization to purchase and manage underdeveloped housing to avoid nationalization laws.

This system operates in a similar manner to Homeowners Associations (HOA's) in other countries, however the HOO has les broad powers, and is strictly regulated.

The first method to revitalizing rural homeownership was announced today, with the HOO planning to sell roughly 3,000 homes in rural villages and towns for just $100, with the promise of refurbishing the house within 3 years. The program seeks to bring in residents without expensive home loans from banks, and attempting to bring the price of home ownership down.

Oflia Bolsters National Security Measures Amidst Regional Challenges

In response to emerging regional challenges and to ensure continued safety and stability within its borders, Oflia has announced significant updates to its national security measures. Prime Minister James Malware, in a recent address to the nation, highlighted the strategic steps being taken to enhance security protocols and safeguard the well-being of Oflia's citizens.

One of the key areas of focus is the modernization of defense infrastructure and technology. Oflia's defense forces are set to receive substantial upgrades in equipment, training, and logistical support. This initiative aims to bolster the country's defense capabilities, ensuring readiness to respond effectively to any potential threats or security challenges.

Furthermore, Oflia is intensifying efforts to strengthen border security and surveillance. Advanced monitoring systems and strategic checkpoints are being implemented to enhance control over border areas and prevent unauthorized crossings. These measures not only serve to protect against external threats but also contribute to managing immigration and customs procedures more efficiently.

Prime Minister Malware emphasized the importance of collaboration and coordination among security agencies, intelligence services, and law enforcement bodies. The integration of information-sharing networks and joint operational strategies is expected to improve response times and overall effectiveness in addressing security issues.

In addition to defensive measures, Oflia is actively engaging in diplomatic dialogues with neighboring nations and international partners to foster cooperative security frameworks. These engagements aim to promote regional stability, mutual trust, and collective security arrangements beneficial to all parties involved.

The government reassured citizens that while enhancing security is a top priority, it remains committed to upholding civil liberties, human rights, and the rule of law. Measures are being taken to ensure that security enhancements are implemented responsibly and transparently, with due regard for democratic principles and public accountability.

As Oflia strengthens its national security posture, it sends a clear message of resolve and readiness to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its citizens, and contribute to regional peace and stability in a dynamic geopolitical landscape.

Flags used by PUR and URSR

Today, in the occupied by our glorious revolutionary forces Xarokzar City our great leader, Harok Dizr, and leader of the Union of Rezreksese Socialist Republics, Yul Ir, held negotiations, addressing the possibility of the creation of a united government.
Both sides expressed their will to stop the conflict as soon as possible and retain the territorial integrity of Rezreks, therefore, the creation of a united government would be favorable for all. The new government will include representatives from both PUR and URSR. The most heated debates are being held on the topic of who will become the temporary leader of the united government before the presidential elections. Both sides insist on their leader assuming this role.
Meanwhile on the frontlines, our great People's Union remains the most successful faction, retaining control of the capital city and keeping on expanding.

SPECIAL BROADCAST ACROSS CANE ISLO

Former Throngist leaders and Throngist government officials relocate to Cane Islo for the campaign of the upcoming first ever Throngist elections

Image

Altered design of the National Flag of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, used on Cane Islo controlled by the Government of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva in opposition to the Scadi regime in control of the Lesvan mainland.

As Throngist Cane Islo is in the middle of the first ever campaign for the first ever Throngist elections, figures that had cemented themselves in the history of the Throngist Republic of Lesva have returned, or rather relocated, to Throngist Cane Islo, to continue where they left off since the coup that brought the mainland under the control of the regime that is in power in Saela today, while the legitimate Throngist authority was forced to take asylum in Najimam first, before relocating to Cane Islo.

Out of those returning are – former First Secretaries of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva, the Honorable Cebra Tolar and the Honorable Jarren Prica, former Chairmen of the Council of Ministers of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Relac Calaidi and the Honorable Erso Rediba, former Minister-Secretary General of the Presidium and Political Bureau of the State Realm of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Ari Asvent, former President of the Supreme National Carto of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Cuvar Abeli, former Minister of Economy of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Gedasi Neramo, former Minister of Technocratic Advancements and Development of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Cepan Sasla, former Minister of Information and Ideology of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Sveza Replacin, former Minister of the Interior of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Oca Grazti, former Minister of Public Order, State Security and Social Security of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Ivda Tvarca, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Bera Rivasi, former Minister of Justice of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Drac Peratar, former Minister of Emergency Management of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Agreta Ecarci, former Minister of Education and Throngist Ideological Fosterage of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Facet Svatim, former Minister of Health of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Egra Visataio, former Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Prontan Istimcin, former Minister of Industry of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Isco Stato, former Minister of Tourism of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Saimi Esving, former Minister of Ethnic and Cultural Issues of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Oni Orgeti, former Minister of Psychological Comfort of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Sclandi Nesipara, former Minister of Gaeltic Affairs and Integration of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, the Honorable Monten Perco, former Chief of the Main Intelligence and Security Service (MISS), the Honorable Teni Cipara, and many more.

Minister of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces, the Honorable Colonel Velar Shrieva, and Chief of the General Staff of the Lesvan Throngist Armed Forces, the Honorable Major General Belo Motar, have likewise settled on Cane Islo, but these two military officers, although not physically, have been involved in Cane Islo’s affairs earlier from the distance of their asylums, having commanded the liberation of Cane Islo from the Scadi regime that allowed for the relocation of the Throngist government back on the sole Lesvan island, as the mainland remains occupied.

All of these aforementioned Throngist figures are returning to Cane Islo to participate in the electoral campaign on behalf of their factions within the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva, with all of them representing either hardliner or moderate wings. Former Minister of Gaeltic Affairs and Integration of the Throngist Republic of Lesva Monten Perco stated that he would not serve in the same position again and even spoke in favor of the position of the Minister of Gaeltic Affairs and Integration of the Throngist Republic of Lesva being abolished, since Throngist Cane Islo was now officially not part of the jurisdictions of the United Federation of Gael or the Eastern Tripartite.

Meanwhile, former First Secretaries Cebra Tolar and Jarren Prica, as well as former Chairman of the Council of Ministers Erso Rediba, announced awareness that returning to Cane Islo was a security risk, because it meant they were all now physically more accessible to the Scadi regime in the mainland and to the Balniki Federation, which has arrest warrants on a number of former Throngist government officials. However, all three have declared that they do not fear that “extradition” and in order for the Scadi regime or the Balniki regime to reach them, they would have to invade Cane Islo, which all three are ready to fight against with weapons in hand. Additionally, former First Secretary Jarren Prica and former Chairman of the Council of Ministers Erso Rediba declared an intention to campaign for the hardliner faction in the electoral race, while former First Secretary Cebra Tolar would campaign for the moderate faction.

At the same time, reformists led by current First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva, the Honorable Teca Viltin, are campaigning on a platform which is promising to promote the current relaxation of censorship and freedom of information to full freedom of speech on Cane Islo, in case of victory of the reformist faction on a national and local level.

Press Release
Excalibur to be fitted to Alteran warships faster
under new Rapid Procurement Policy (2024)

The rollout of laser weapons systems far quicker than expected, following defence procurement reforms, with Excalibur to be on United Commonwealth Navy warships from 2027.

Published on behalf of the Ministry of Defence
Authored on 28th April 2024

  • Despite originally being earmarked for deployment in the 2030s, Great Altera's laser defence system Excalibur will be deployed to warships from 2027

  • Reforms to the procurement and deployment of new technologies processes, known as the Rapid Procurement Policiy, will the system fitted far sooner than expected

  • Excalibur will be the first of many new systems to be deployed far sooner in the field, thanks to the reform to the bureaucratic procurement system

The cutting-edge Excalibur laser will be installed on United Commonwealths Navy warships for the first time from 2027 – far quicker than previously envisaged thanks to new defence procurement model which came into force this week.

Able to fire at any target visible in the air at around ₠10 a shot and with an accuracy equivalent to hitting a eingot coin from a kilometre away, the powerful Excalibur weapon will provide highly effective defence against drone and missile threats.

Laser weapons were originally expected to be rolled out to UC armed forces in the early 2030s.

But under a raft of reforms to defence procurement that came into effect this week and prioritisation within defence, the weapon will now be operational around five years earlier than planned.

A key part of the new reforms is delivering a minimum deployable capability quickly to personnel and finalising development once in-service, ensuring that personnel can access the tools they need for an evolving threat.

Under contract from The Frontier Institute's Defence Science and Technology Centre (DSTC), on behalf of the UC MoD, Excalibur has been developed in collaboration with United Commonwealths' industry partners Alteran Aerospace and Verhun Defence Systems.

Minister for Defence Cecil Garner said:

"In a more dangerous world, our approach to procurement is shifting with it. We need to be more urgent, more critical and more global. "

"Our widespread reforms will deliver the latest kit and weaponry for our Armed Forces faster and help identify export opportunities that can boost the Alteran economy."

"Excalibur shows the best of the UC at the forefront of military technology, and we will not delay in getting it in the hands of our military to face down the threats we’re facing."

The reforms will ensure more consistent delivery for the UC’s Armed Forces, helping avoid previous challenges where programmes have been over-complex, over-budget, and over time.

In addition to the minimum deployable capability, the new reforms include:

  • New checks and balances such as the UC Strategic Command-based Integration Design Authority providing expert advice on integration. This will improve coherence and avoid some of the challenges faced in previous procurements.

  • Greater empowerment of defence scientists, government export leads, finance experts and industry partners to challenge and shape proposals before they receive the go-ahead.

  • The new model will set programmes up for success by consulting a wide range of experts early in the acquisition process. This will enable the MoD to take the right, expert-informed decisions from the start, saving time later on.

  • Increased focus on exportability at the start of a new programme, to prioritise developing kit that can be sold to allies globally.

  • Earlier engagement with the UC defence industry to ensure quicker delivery of kit into the hands of our Armed Forces.

Laser-directed energy weapons can engage targets at the speed of light and use an intense beam of light to cut through the target, leading to structural failure or more impactful results if the warhead is targeted.

Excalibur has the potential to be a long-term low-cost alternative to certain tasks missiles currently carry out, such as shooting down attack drones.Investing in this cutting edge laser technology puts the UC at the forefront of defence capabilities. Moreover, playing a significant part in reducing the challenges faced by traditional stockpiles.

DSTC Chief Executive Laurence Dence said:

"This is excellent news, and a real step forward in enabling operational advantage at pace for UC Armed Forces."

"DSTC is all about preparing for the future and the Excalibur technology is a great example of that."

"Our scientists along with industry partners have worked tirelessly to bring laser technology to where it is today, one which I am proud to say is a UC sovereign capability."

The new procurement model approach is in addition to avoiding competition between the military services for programmes to be approved and encouraging people to speak up in the face of emerging challenges for delivery.

Whilst Excalibur has been public hailed as a novel solution for maritime defence, strategic partners in the MoD and DSTC are keen to highlight its potential applications in other surface-based applications and - dependent on powerplant technology - its inclusion in future airborne systems.

NOCD Approved For Additional Drilling

Today, the Ministry of Energy and The Environment agreed upon a plan to expand oil and gas production within Domanania's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The plan comes after a series of meetings between the two ministries to come to a consensus on a plan of action over the last two months.

Domanania currently has 29 oil and gas wells drilled within its territorial waters, which are managed by the National Oil Company of Domanania (NOCD), and are responsible for the production of crude oil and natural gas. Currently, production from within territorial waters only produces around 200 bbl/day of crude oil, but around 8,500 MMm3 of natural gas a year. The new plans are expected to increase production by 100x by 2030.

Starting in June of this year, NOCD will be commissioning 100 Oil rigs and Drillships to begin exploitation of the waters of its EEZ. This is due to the fact that the waters north of Domanania have an estimated 22,900 MMm3 of oil and gas fields lying within its Exclusive Economic zone. These reserves are spread across 3 larger fields, and about half a dozen smaller fields. These fields have been identified as a strategic reserve that is vital for Domanania's continued growth and energy security. The estimated production of drilling vessels is set at 4 Drillships and 2 small-medium platforms per year. The goal of using Drillships over larger platforms is the ease of which they can be constructed, and are less environmentally dangerous to deploy.

However, Domanania's continued green policies clashed with the expansion of the oil industry, so a compromise was made. Drilling operations are to avoid area's identified as protected environmental zones, and will have restrictions on the amount of oil that can be drilled or stored onsite. This would effectively reduce the amount of oil production by 50%. This compromise means that instead of 40-50,000 bbl/day, the planned expansion would cut production down to 20-25,000 bbl/day and 850,000 MMm3 of natural gas. Despite this, this plan is expected to inject billions into the Doman economy, allowing for further economical growth.

Another complication comes from the contested waters of the EEZ in what is known as the Esteraz-Doman Gap (EDG), which is an area that encompasses the EEZ of both Domanania and Esterazdravo. This zone has international arbitration outlining both nation's EEZ, however the zone remains a hotbed of confrontations between coast guard and military forces. This comes from Esterazdravo claiming areas that are internationally recognized as Domanania's EEZ.

With this, the Doman government sought to avoid future confrontations in the spirit of co-development and friendship. To do this, the government has provided language in the permits granting Esterazdravo entities rights roughly 20% of the resources in the shared fields, or around 4,580 MMm3 of oil and gas to exploit. NOCD has even shared data with the Esteraz government, providing them with information about which fields lie within their EEZ.

This will hopefully bring the two nations together, and prevent loss of property or life in the future.

LIGVUE UNTRES: 2024-2025 SEASON

26th of April, 2024:
Written By: V.G.M

The day has come, the day where the young, teenagers, adults, the old even the oldest celebrate. The 2024-2025 season of Ligvue Untres has finally come, and it's looking to be a great season for the league and all of Vacrusian football. The season will exactly start from early March to late February, going through 612 games with each team playing 17 games for each home and away matches. And with the relegation to Ligvue Anven for the bottom 3 teams will only make the league much more intense and competitive.

Since the league first foundation, the time when the league was still under the name of Durinteges Agherlo Ligvue (English: Federation National League), and the time where the league was still considered as a minor league that only few top teams compete. Since the league first season to the current state of the season, there is only a total of 21 teams that have won the league, a total of 4 teams that have won more than 6 league titles, and Lionesses with 9 league titles and Inurantes with 8 league titles still competing for another league title for their team. Will this season bring another league title for the strongest teams in the league, or underdogs team and teams that just got promoted from Ligvue Anven? We will not know, all we need to do is wait and see who will be the champion of the 2024-2025 season.

List of clubs that will compete in the 2024-2025 season:

1. Answeldry
2. Ardbiant
3. Avellineca
4. Brighsen
5. Cheldenry
6. Hennios
7. Huernatic
8. Huernaunt
9. Huglardry
10. Inurantes
11. Lionesses
12. Nighthawks
13. Ochalkus
14. Ranoltes
15. Royals
16. Sachriant
17. Valner
18. Vanderant

The league also serve as the proving ground of many players who previously doesn't getting both the amount of attention and respect they have, no matter the old or the young. The league is the primary and biggest league in the entire nation, and so we can expect many young players becoming a important player for the team. The previous season has bring many young players into fame and finally getting the attention they deserve, such as Alasarn Horgavilene, Ardreth Loranhariceves, and Navarres Aranthaunavaran. We can expect more young players rise into fame this season, as the teams that just got promoted from Ligvue Anven to Ligvue Untres used to be really popular and have a massive fanbase, now with them back into the league, it will bring many unexpected players rise into fame, no matter how old or how young.

The new season also started the era of a more competitive into the league, as the current top teams of the league started to be replaced by new and smaller teams such as Valner, and the older teams that have previously been a strong contender in the league is back to compete for the league title. This also remarked a competitive rivalry between the East and West, and also stopped the domination of the West as football clubs from the East start to compete and dominate the league. This can be seen with the Agherlo Honresesvare Ligvue (English: National Conference League), where the East 1st team and the 3rd team won against the West, and only the West 2nd team can win against the East.

This season might also be more intense compared to the previous seasons because of the amount of popular clubs in the league. This season have a total of 14 clubs who have won the league atleast once in their history and those clubs have a massive fanbase compared to the relegated teams. This can be seen between the difference of the club Sachriant and Ascheryen, where Sachriant, despite getting relegated in the 2018-2019 season and just got promoted again, have bigger fanbase compared to Ascheryen just because of Sachriant having won the league in the 2014-2015 season and Ascheryen never have won a league title in their entire history. This season also bring back the potential the league have, where the season finally got it's competitiveness back instead of the boring predicted teams that will won the league. This season is one of these seasons where the clubs that was usually predicted to win the league actually become weaker and the weaker teams actually become stronger and be above of those predicted winners.

This season may or may not be different compared to previous season, who knows? Maybe the teams that just got promoted from Ligvue Anven actually win the league or the top teams become weaker to a reason. We don't really tend to know who will be the champion of the new season, but many still believe that Royals will stay as the champions of the league, but some still believe teams like Valner, Brighsen or even Ardbiant to win the league. Or maybe this season can be the turning point for the league, the season where the West stopped the domination of the East and become the champion, again who knows? All we can do is just wait and see.

“Le Collier de la Reine”
Verdelin National Museum of History
1 Rue de Anton,
Port Elizabeth,
Verdelin

In a spectacular ceremony this morning, Queen Claire presented the Necklace of Queen Marcella at the Verdelin National History Museum in Port Elizabeth to be displayed in the Central Gallery for the next six months, before the Queen departs on a goodwill trip across The Western Isles.

Crafted during the post depression boom of the 1930s, the chain of diamonds along the golden chain represents the prosperity and former glory of Verdelin like no other symbol. Forged following the capitulation of the New Callisto Republic, Queen Marcella’s crown represents the pinnacle of Verdelin culture through its elegance and reminder of the past.

Originally commissioned by King Anton as a 50th birthday present for Queen Marcella, the design for the crown was being determined as the Cod War was coming to an end. Following the capitulation of the NCR and the Verdelin economy finally reaching pre-depression levels, King Anton wanted the necklace to be a point of pride for Verdelin as well as a reminder of his victory. As a result, Marcella's necklace was completely sourced from Callisto’s vast mineral deposits.

The necklace is an array of white Callistan diamonds, each one selected and cut to perfection by a Callistan jeweler. The centerpiece was a blood red Callistan ruby, said to belong to the last Callistan first lady. The gems were held together by a gold chain plundered from the Golden Bell at the Callisto National Palace and forged into a chain.

Queen Marcella wore the piece until the Imperialist defeat in the Imperial War before hiding the piece in the Palace before her suicide as Free Power forces were closing in on the capital. The piece was found once more in 1984 during renovations of the banquet hall. The piece has been in the possession of Queen Claire ever since.

Although the piece has gained controversy over the years, especially on the Callisto Islands, for being composed of materials obtained through invasion; many in Verdelin have expressed their pride for the piece, claiming it represents the golden era of Verdelin. Indeed the necklace is a perfect reflection of the Verdelin image, prosperity and triumph.

As Queen Claire presented the necklace to the museum’s Head Curator earlier today, 12 Callistan protesters attempted to enter the Central Hall but were immediately apprehended by the King’s Guard. The ceremony concluded with a short speech from the Queen as the necklace was put into a bulletproof display at the center of the museum.

Be sure to see the necklace before it’s gone! Tickets for the VNHM start at $5 deniers but museum staff say crowds might cause long lines to see the famed piece.

Iershenovans Clammer For Independence?
Image

Article by Tsamās Morrō
It's a brisk March evening in Netil on the island of Iersheno. The winds are nippy, the sky is clear, and the waters of the Mesder stretch out before us. In the far distance, one can just see the faint shores of Kravato. Prevailing wisdom among many non-Iershenovans is that the future of the island lies with its so-called mother country. Jorv Ladelo disagrees. He is the leader of the Iershenovan National Party, and sitting on his apartment balcony in Netil, he lays out an alternative vision for the Iershenovan people.

Image
Jorv Ladelo, leader of the Iershenovan
National Party
"Annexation, even under the supposedly generous terms being offered by Burkas, is the last thing our people need or want," Ladelo claims, exuberantly puffing on a lengthy cigar. "For too long, we were the pawns of so-called great powers: Wellsia, Vacrus, Kravato, and it just brought our island more bloodshed and more division. When Kravatoan and Tsunter soldiers landed on our shore last summer, they claimed to come as defenders and liberators, not conquerors, but will they live up to this title? I put my faith in both Tcha and the Christian God that they will have the foresight to demonstrate true honour and not cling to this island like our previous overlords."

The 33-year-old Kravatoan-Iershenovan strikes an imposing figure, lean and wiry, with an almost skeletal face and a closely-cropped set of curls covering his scalp. Since the end of the Iershenovan War between a Kravatoan-led alliance and the enfeebled Vacrusian theocracy, Ladelo has brought together a coalition of Kaplo-sceptic Iershenovans, of both Kravatoan and Vacrusian descent, to oppose efforts to have the island unify with victorious Kravato. The forces arranged against this small island seem immense, but Ladelo believes the island's best fortune lies in self-determination.

He seems unfazed when I question how the tiny island will secure itself without guaranteed Kravatoan support. "Everyone passes through the Iervitan strait so everyone’s interested in us. The Tsunters and Kravatoans know that if they threaten us, we can go to the Wellsians or the Costavozkas, or we can start talking to the Raedlon Organisation of States or WIDA about protection. From Esterazdravo to Verska, everyone has an eye on us. There’s a lot of reason to be our friends and none to be our enemies."

I suggest that some of the states and alliances he mentioned might make heavy demands in return for protection. “There is no price we are unwilling to pay if it means not having to fear, distrust, and KILL our neighbours. You know I had many friends from the Vacrusian side of the island, good people, good families. They did not want to go to war with us, any more than we wanted war with them, but global politics forced us into conflict anyway, and now many of them have fled from our island. That is what annexation will bring, and we must avoid it at all costs.”

I ask how the small and, quite frankly, poor island will be able to fund its own development if it does strike out on its own. “It's true we are small, we are few in number, and we have not been blessed with abundant natural resources. But is our situation not so different from your own country a century ago? You Tsunters took a poorly dealt hand and made yourself a wealthy nation. There are only two things a country needs to prosper: spirit and natural beauty. And we Iershenovans have both in abundance.”

I have to admit Ladelo is highly convincing and could be exactly what the island and Argus in general need to transform this war-torn land into a peaceful and flourishing state. But the fact remains that the Kravatoans are very clearly intent on securing both the island and their stranglehold over the eastern Mesder. Will the Iershenovans be able to overcome Kaplo’s geopolitical ambitions? Only time will tell.

SPECIAL BROADCAST ACROSS CANE ISLO

4th Congress of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva opens in Paita Sudi, Cane Islo

Image

Flag of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva.

Since the relocation of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva to the liberated island of Cane Islo from the temporary sanctuary in Najimam, the Throngist government is hosting the Fourth Congress of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva, this time in Paita Sudi on Cane Islo, instead of National Capital Saela on the mainland under the control of the Scadi regime. This is also the first Congress held since the coup that led to the de facto capture of control by the Scadi regime on the mainland.

The Fourth Congress gathers Members of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva from across Cane Islo during the first ever campaign for the first ever Throngist elections, as well as following the recent pro-denouncement and anti-denouncement demonstrations, along with the ongoing military pressure from the mainland about the Scadi regime potentially preparing to reclaim Cane Islo under its’ control by force.

First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva, the Honorable Teca Viltin, has opened the Fourth Congress before the gathered Party Members and declared that the Third All-Lesvan Throngist Congress was also on the way to be held in Paita Sudi in the near future.

Marshal Iuna Scadi addresses negotiations by the parties of the civil war in Rezreks

As Rezreksese Nationalists and Communists hold the first talks between the parties of the Rezreksese Civil War, Marshal Iuna Scadi addresses continued support for the Nationalists

Image

National Flag of the Lesvan State (left) and the Flag used by the People's Union of Rezreks (right).

During a discussion about social and security policy in one of the Cartos in the National Capital Saela, Marshal Iuna Scadi addressed news that two parties of the Rezreksese Civil War – the Nationalists and the Communists have held their first talks and will most likely be forming a united alternative government to counter the central rule of the monarchy that both parties are trying to depose. The current talks between the Nationalists and the Communists are so far the first known peace talks of the Rezreksese Civil War and have only involved two of several parties fighting each other in that country’s conflict. With a possible alliance and potential merger between the Nationalists and the Communists, it de facto changes the situation on the ground by reducing a number of parties fighting each other.

Because the Lesvan State diplomatically supports the People's Union of Rezreks, represented by the Nationalists, and recognizes the People's Union as the sole legitimate government of Rezreks over the monarchy, Marshal Iuna Scadi reacted with the following statement at one of the visited Cartos:

The Lesvan State continues to support the fellow Revolutionaries of the People's Union of Rezreks and we perceive the People’s Union as the sole legitimate leadership of Rezreks. We see the People’s Union and the Nationalists representing it as the party, out of all the parties fighting each other in Rezreks, as the most moral and just party to challenge the monarchy, lead the people’s liberation struggle against the monarchy and then to lead the people after liberating the country from the monarchy. The People’s Union also aligns the closest with our own ideals out of all the other parties. We will maintain our diplomatic support and political recognition.

The news that the Nationalists of the People’s Union of Rezreks have entered into talks with the Communists of the Union of Rezreksese Socialist Republics, to combine their efforts and potentially form a united alternative government to replace the monarchy after its’ deposition, creates caution for us. We cannot comment on the specifics of the ideology of Rezreksese Communists, but we believe that in practice, Communism has been no better than Throngism, which he overcome in our country, and that it is ultimately a dangerous and tyrannical ideology with a lot of destructive potential, almost always ending in mass bloodshed and one-party tyranny by those trying to implement it in any country. We invite the Nationalists to really test those they enter into an alliance with, but ultimately it is a domestic Rezreksese affair. It is for the people of Rezreks to handle these issues and answer these questions for themselves.

Our own position does not change – the liberation struggle against the tyranny of the monarchy is a just cause and aligns with the values of our own Revolution.

Marshal Iuna Scadi signs Decree approving the social policies inherited from the Throngist period

In a third signed Decree, Marshal Iuna Scadi has approved keeping the social policies that were originally adopted during the Throngist rule over the Lesvan nation

The Central Social Carto of the Lesvan State has approved retaining the social policies from the Throngist period. Marshal Iuna Scadi, as Secretary General of the Central Social Carto, followed up with signing a third Decree authorizing the retaining of these social policies. Ghe Marshal then made the following statement:

"We have said early on that we seek to be completely fair and, in accordance with that principal, we have stated our perception about the legacy of the previous regime. Our Revolution has overthrown the evil that was the one-party fascist tyranny of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva and established a people's power system system, which is nore just than anything that has ever existed on this land. And we were right to have les this just fight for a just cause with a jist victory. Even though the Throngists now occupy Cane Islo, this state of affairs is not permanent snd the entirety of the Lesvan land will be free in the future.

However, objectively recognizing something good that could have potential come out of the bad or the evil, we have recognized that some social policies from the Throngist period were progressive and revolutionary, but it does not necessarily mean that only Throngist Movement Party could have designed them and adopted them. The point is that we are going to be taking the best of both realities. We now have a people's authority in a form of direct social democracy and pur people have decided that we are going to keep those few good things that just so happened to have been established in the Throngist period. And that was demonstrated by the vote at the Central Social Carto.

In accordance with the decision to retain the Throngist policies our people do find positive, I have backed up the verdict by signing my third Decree, with this one being dedicated to supporting the retaining of the social policies as voted on by the Central Social Carto.

Good day, fellow Revolutionaries. The Party agreed to maintain the gender-neutral military conscription written down in the Basic Statute of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, which continues to function on the liberated Cane Islo. In addition to keeping that gender-neutral conscription, where those serving are allowed to choose the type of service, the Party also discussed measures how to provide citizens with of all age and social groups with basic military education and citizen preparation for an all-out resistance and defense of Cane Islo from outside aggression.

How far will hardliners and moderates allow TMPL First Secretary Teca Viltin to go with reforms on Cane Islo?

Image

Altered design of the national flag of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, used on Cane Islo controlled by the regime of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva in opposition to the Scadi regime in control of mainland Lesva.

The Throngist Movement Party is currently in the middle of the Fourth Party Congress. It is the first Congress to take place since Scadi's Revolution against the Throngist regime and the first to take place not in Saela, but on the Throngist-captured Cane Islo, since the Throngists lost power in the Lesvan mainland.

The Congress was opened by current First Secretary of the Throngist Movement Party of Lesva Teca Viltin, a reformist who has undertaken unprecedented liberalization reforms on the Throngist-controlled Cane Islo, ones that even Throngist Republic of Lesva within its' previous borders has not seen. Viltin is especially a figure receiving a lot of tension not only in his past ability to initiate post-Revolution successful negotiations, safe relocation to Najimam from Lesva followed by a surprise re-capture of Cane Islo by the Throngists, but for his current unprecedented reforms. Whether Viltin aill end up being just as antagonistic as his predecessors or more heroic in comparison to them, in either case he will have made history.

Now, as Viltin's predecessors along with other ousted officials of the last Throngist government before the Revolution, are coming back to Cane Islo for the first election campaign and for the currently ongoing Fourth Congress, outside observers are asking questions. Since Viltin's predecessors and many of the ousted former Throngist officials are either hardliners or moderates, there is now a question how far will they allow the first ever reformist in TMPL First Secretary's position to go with the reforms before trying to put a stop to them or even possibly regressing back into the past of harsher dictatorship.

Currently, Viltin leads the Secretariat and his reformist policies are the Party line. However, the reformists formally remained a smaller wing within the Party in comparison to hardliners and reformists. Viltin ks a lucky accident of historic circumstances. The future Party line and which direction it will continue to move in, will depend on the outcome of the elections that Viltin has allowed and whether residents of Cane Islo will grant most of their votes to reformists, moderates or hardliners. The quick success of the Throngist "Counter-Revolution" on Cane Islo and the quick takeover of the island from the Scadi regime that recently took power in Lesva, suggests that Throngist sympathies are still supposedly strong on Cane Islo. However, so far the general acceptance of reforms, apart from polarization caused by the denouncement of Berislavic, Ghanem and Kovac, suggests that reformed Throngism is also something that might be a new leaning more acceptable for the population of Cane Islo, in comparison to welcoming the new Scadi regime or bringing the old brand of Throngism before the Revolution.

If it is agreeable that elections on Cane Islo will be fair, then they will represent which direction of Throngism the majority of the population will choose to govern the island. However, since there most likely will not be foreign observers on the island, it will be difficult to verify.

2024 Parliamentary Election Results
Image

In what will surely go down as one of the watershed moments of modern Tsunter political history, last night's results saw the electorate reject the current governing Cooperative Party in favour of third parties, namely the Centre Democrats, the National Democrats, and the Greens. This no doubt reflects the public's anger at the political establishment in the wake of the Wintertime Fiasco – the name given to the revelations by Kravatoan Intelligence that senior figures of the Cooperative Party attempted to cover up the fact that the scion of one of the Tsunterland's most prominent families was inciting violence against Mauricans abroad.

The Cooperative Party, who were previously the majority in parliament, bore the brunt of the public anger. Although they managed to clinch a plurality of the vote (30.66%), this was a huge loss compared to the landslide mandate they received from the public in 2020. Only 110 of their previous 197 candidates were re-elected to parliament, far short of the 181 needed to form a majority. The Cooperatives mostly held onto their 2020 gains along the Long Hook Peninsula and in the Tsunter-dominant areas of the Interior. They lost a large portion of their traditional strongholds in Ba Barōssa, the so-called Orange Rock districts, along with many of their seats in Gothray, another traditional base of Tsunter support.

In the suburbs of major cities, their primary usurpers were the Centre Democrats, who achieved their best result yet, turning their roughly 11.5% of the vote into 42 seats, an increase of 19 seats. It seems party leader Raāfí Maille's campaign promises of “open and honest government”, criticized in the press as being milquetoast, appear to be more in line with suburban Tsunter voters than expected.

However, the greatest advances were made by the Green Party, as the unexpected high turnout of younger voters has bourn fruit for the far-left. Grace Bly, their sole MP, will now be joined by thirty-three more of her colleagues in parliament. The Green Party gains came not from the Interior, as many believed but can instead be found in inner-city districts, whose polling stations were reported to be “overflowing with the deluges of youth” by one overly-poetic reporter yesterday. All eyes are one the Green Party to see how they cope with actual political power.

Causing an equal amount of consternation has been the flow of votes to the far-right National Democrat Party. Six new MPs representing the party, including party leader Finray Goth, will join parliament. The National Democrats are the only party who have directly questioned the validity of Kravatoan’s Intelligence claims about the Wintertime Fiasco, suggesting not all anger at the government comes from those wanted reform.

The Romantic Party appears to have partly escaped the public’s wrath, although they haven’t benefited from it much either. They retained all of their 106 MPs but failed to make any substantial gains. Still, with the loss of the Cooperative’s majority in Parliament, the Romantics' position is seriously strengthened.

Moving onto the ethnic parties, the Maurican People’s Party does seem to have benefited from a resurgence of Maurican unity in the wake of the anti-Maurican violence abroad, securing another sixteen MPs, bringing their total number to 45 and making them the third-largest party in parliament. The Christian Social Party unsurprisingly retained their single seat in parliament, whilst the Tsunter-Salimanese Community Party won no seats but appears to have maintained the support of their community.

The new Change 4 Liberty party, started by disgraced Council Member Guan Erisdany, did secure a respectable 4.1% of the vote, but its support was too spread out to translate into seats as the National Democrats were able to do. However, Guan Erisdany has made it clear he intends to remain present in Tsunter politics for the foreseeable future.

Without a clear majority in parliament, it will be up to the two major parties to try and build together stable coalitions if they want to pass legislation. However, with division growing between the Cooperatives and the Maurican Rights Party, it looks like the Cooperatives will have to look elsewhere for partners. Meanwhile, the Romantic Party will have to do some serious soul-searching to decide whether it's able to go into coalition with the far-right National Democrats.

Kaskalman nationals allowed to enter Nhoor again

SĀRRUC, 2 May 2024 | Citizens of Kaskalma may enter Nhoor again, the Health Ministry announced today. Health checks at the airport will however continue to be conducted until further notice.

Nhoor closed its territory for Kaskalman nationals in January after cases of poisoning with anthrax were reported in the towns of Jorgenstad and Neu Danzig. It emerged however that the infection had been intentional and was designated a terrorist attack. No new cases have been reported in recent weeks.

Some members of parliament criticised Health Minister Aruqo Te̦qhīseqh’s delay in lifting the measures against Kaskalmans, but the Minister underlined the dangers of anthrax and said that the Government’s first and foremost task is to protect its people. “Since no treaties or agreements are in place with Kaskalma, closing the borders for Kaskalmans was about the easiest and at the same time most effective measure that the Ministry could have taken”, she said.

Some Health Ministry employees recently suggested however that the Minister had been pressured by her colleague of Public Security to delay lifting the measures to avoid the Kaskalman terrorists who executed the attack from entering Nhoor.

Final day of campaigning

With the general election only a day away, the parties have hit the campaign trail this week to make a last pitch to their voters. The Chancellor has been door knocking across Auvia, as well as holding a rally in Cranford, to persuade the region, which many analysts are predicting will switch to the Conservative Democrats, to vote for the Social Democratic Party. Leader of the Opposition Mattie Everly has, on the other hand, been spending this week in Hachen, which she is looking to flip the Hachen City Council and Mayoralty to the Communist Party.

Tomorrow, Biatenian voters will go to the polls to elect their MPs, MRPs and governors, with some areas, including Hachen, also electing councillors and mayors. The Social Democratic Party is looking likely to lose many of its seats, although still remain the largest party in the National Diet. The Communist Party is expected to make sweeping gains in Hachen, while the Conservative Democratic Party are looking particularly optimistic in Auvia. The National Revolution Party, who’s leader, Jeffrey Harlan, has been hitting the trail in Huonia, is also expected to make significant gains. Smaller parties, such as the Death to the State Party and the National Socialist Biatenian Workers Party, are hopeful to win at least one seat in the National Diet.

Issues that have often arisen throughout the campaign period have included: Biaten’s place in WIDA and WIDU, events in Lesva, stop and search, the Wealth Redistribution Fund, taxation and nationalisation. The Communist Party has been particularly opposed to the internationalist policies of the Siegel government, while the National Revolution Party have consistently campaigned on a socially libertarian platform.

New polling suggests major political shifts for 16 May snap election
Virtaz, Takiv - In a new poll conducted in a joint effort between TBT News and the University of Pojka, results showed a large potential swing in Dazvin voters for both the snap election taking place in 2 weeks, as well as the region's Regional Assembly election in November. According to the poll, this swing has been noted to largely affect the so-called "teal rings"; a term used for the suburbs of major cities like Konev and Virtaz that tend to vote for the PDR, whose party color is teal. These teal ring districts were a major part of the PDR's victory in the 2020 election, and they are expected to play a major role in 16 May's snap election. The opposition NUP has sought to flip many teal ring districts, and has appealed to suburban voters on economic issues, especially with a proposed middle-class tax cut under a potential NUP administration.

The swing in suburban districts towards the NUP shows that this election could be critical in determining the nation's political future. Much of the PDR's base is among the middle-class, suburban, white and blue collar workers that commute into major cities for work. If the NUP can flip these voter blocs, the PDR will have to find a new way to survive and gain political power.

Inner-city districts have also shown a surprising switch from the Socialist Worker's Party to the Green Party, a rebuke for the fringe left party. The Takivaj Heritage Party, a fringe right-wing party, has also seen it's share of rural voters decline as they seek less radical governance under the NUP or NLP. National popular vote projections show that the THP's voter share could decrease to as low as 6.5%, the lowest outcome for the party since the 2000 general election. In constituency projections, the THP's seat count is shown to drop considerably, losing several seats to the NUP.
