"Will they be sorry for the people they were shooting?" Lucas asked, almost growling. "I'm really sorry Scarlet, this isn't a war but it might as well be. The King has overstepped the mark this time. And now he's fired on a group of peaceful protestors, which is disgusting. Would you prefer it if I'd just decided to allow those heavily-armed soldiers to slaughter hundreds of innocent people?"

"What are some good Woodstovian names?" Alicia asked, massaging Allen's shoulder.

"They may have killed 2 people when I started," Lucas said, sighing. "But they were using heavy machine guns, and they had their triggers squeezed. It would have been a bloodbath. Should I have allowed that?"

"For boys or girls?" Alicia asked, not liking his dodging of her question.

"The situation?" Lucas asked shocked. "Scarlet, I knew the situation. People were firing at peaceful protestors. That's not a situation that should be allowed to continue."

"But I'm not allowed to hug you again?" Lucas asked, realising he was now in Scarlet's bad books. "I seem to get you annoyed a lot..."

Lucas ignored Scarlet: the argument was probably a lost cause and he had bigger issues. Issues mainly relating to the car's inbuilt emergency radio which he now turned on: immediately he was hit by a barrage of voices as the Buertova command network chattered to itself franticly. It only took a few minutes to analyse the situation and his face turned grim.
"To whoever's in command of those tanks blocking the Casietti road," Lucas said rather unprofessionally, "Get out of their and reinforce our infantry in Roma."
"But sir..." a voice protested.
"I'm not hearing it," Lucas responded, growling slightly. "We've men being killed in that city. What could really help them out is 42 of our most modern, well-equipped tanks. If the King wants to kill us all he'll have a fight on his hands. I want air support as well, fast ground attackers, take out their heavy weapons."
Orders were received and relayed to more junior officers, and the blockading tanks swung slowly around and moved, as in one industrictable wall of metal towards Roma.

"I like Alexander as a name for a Prince," she said, pondering. "Or Marcus. Very traditional names that should annoy no one."

"I'm trying to get this finished as soon as possible," Lucas said, manouvering his car into the emergency lane and making for the way they had just come. He had jammed his foot to the accelerator and turned on manual driving: it quickly became clear that his stress was affecting his skill. The car swerved dangerously as he continued to talk on the emergency radio.
"Heading for Kholavia," he informed the seeming mass of people on the other end. "I trust Kholavia is safe?"
"It's safe," a voice replied. "Attacking Kholavia would be a death trap. The outer wall is effectively made of heavy weaponry...half our fleet is their."
"Move 12th and 18th naval squadrons out," Lucas ordered. "Have a look at whatever the King's got in the Northern islands and give them a really bad afternoon."

"I don't like that idea," Alicia laughed. "Tell me...Allen...can you hear shooting? I certainly can."

"I'll make this up to you," Lucas promised, frowning. "I'm really sorry Scarlet but I'm probably not going to be able to reassure you of much right now, because I really don't know why the King's decided he wants a war with us. What I do know is that if we don't get some friends to help, we're done for. Kholavia will be our last stronghold if everything else falls apart and then it'll be over to Velstrania if we lose that. You're going to see things you don't want to see, Scarlet...but this is a war and I can't just play it nice for you. You kknow I wish I could."

"Hopefully not," Alicia said. "What the fuck are they doing out their?"

"From what I'm hearing the King's people have gone berserk," Lucas said truthfully. "Fired randomly on our military units. Luckily we knew about this for a long long time, that he'd try to get some more territory from us. Because half his inner circle are someones spies. So yes, for some reason we're now fighting a vastly superior military force, and we'll not be able to hold them back for ever. I'm going to get our navy out to support our ground troops, should by us a bit of time before our allies get involved. So I'm sorry, but if you tell me not to fire on legionaries, I'm afraid I'll have to ignore you because they'll have very few problems with firing on me...and by extention you."

"Sounds like a plan," Alicia said, rolling over. "Not like it's effecting us."

Allen hugged Alicia, a little dismayed at the fact that she was no longer facing him.

"Why would the king do that?" She asked.

"He doesn't like the fact that half his country is almost totally controlled by clans," Lucas guessed. "Anyway, it doesn't matter...that's just what's happened. So, am I forgiven for defending my people?"
