Oh, blast it, your first... Post, is it? Yes, that's the term. Reminded me that I forgot to give an introduction, forgot that I'm probably not well known outside of Olithlum. Simply improper of me to forget the basics of courtly manners.

But enough self-pity, to the network in general, I am Ser Edmugh Wyarde, Knight of the Chivalrous Republic, Former Grandmaster of the National Council, and currently High Adviser to the current Grandmaster of the National Council.
As important as my job sounds, to be frank, it's mostly a ceremonious title at best. Unless the current Grandmaster is about to do some fool thing and needs someone to set his mind straight, It's mostly sitting in an office drinking while remembering my days in the Church Service. The people of Brancaster, her family's ancestral seat, seem to like her well enough. As long as they desire her continued presence, she remains. Besides that, she is rather a sickly young thing, so at least in keeping her title, she is always well-attended with regards to her condition.

Representative Song, I will add the disclaimer that my nation has a storied history with nobility, but that is a story for later. A man or woman is not judged by their titles, they are judged by what they are. I am not respected because I am a High Adviser, but, ideally, I am respected because I am a man who seeks virtue and goodness in all things. Certainly, this must be why you are respected, or what you hope your respect is based upon regardless of your status. Thusly, I believe you should get to learn of this cousin before requesting her denunciation of rank; for there are some who never earned their title as King, and there are others who bore such a title with clarity and grace thought to be unseen on this Earth.
Moreover, I believe one should utilize caution when attempting to provoke someone through members of their family, your attempt to deal with one scorpion may earn you the ire of several scorpions, if you understand what I mean. Man is a very tribal creature. Kings and Lords, well, depends on which Kings and which Lords.
Olithlum is a nation based upon one code; Chivalry. Indeed, it is Chivalry that founded the Republic to begin with! A knight is a man who protects the weak, defends the innocent, upholds the principles of God and the Faith against all comers; why should that be limited to what womb a man comes from?
A Knight is defined by his deeds, and the people of Olithlum proved their Knighthood through three Civil Wars that saw the hereditary nobility that ruled our lands ousted and a Republic based upon Chivalrous principles founded.
I was not born a Knight, I served ten years as a servant of the Church, I proved my virtue by feeding the poor in soup kitchens, building houses for the homeless, and other duties of the Church. My Knighthood proved my ability to put the good of others above myself and thus earned me my right to vote and participate in politics.

I have no doubt that there are many nobles of good character, however the nobility in itself, as I have mentioned, is an outdated system that has no place in the modern world.
