The Duke, the Princess and the Shotgun Wedding!

Image

20 July 2139
Liatsoa, Garandy, the Celestial Empire

While the Emperor resorts in the Hemaka Islands, shocking news has coming out of a different set of isles in the empire, on those of Garandy. There, in the heart of the densely populated seaport and former seat of the Lota Family, the Duke of Angoulême, the handsome young widower of Vaohangy Lota remarried in a sudden lavish ceremony, barely six months after the death of his first wife.

Angoulême, the twenty year old brother of the Empress has long been known to be the paramour of the Emperor, the two oft being seen together intimately. Angoulême has in the eyes of many been the true consort in the empire, serving not only as one of the Emperor’s advisors, but taking up the role of his absentee sister in court and the Inama. This arrangement was done in tandem with his late wife’s affair with the Emperor, the trio forming an odd alliance.

This alliance however has seemed in shambles since Vaohangy Lota’s death and the Duke of Angoulême being sent to Garandy to secure the inheritance of his stepson, leaving the Emperor alone and with a dark cloud over him. Where the emperor appears to have no preference in his lovers, it whitely agreed amongst the Court the same is not true for Angoulême, and thus a new bride for the Hollande heir seemed unlikely. And thus unexpected.

The only thing more shocking than the remarriage the Duke of Angoulême however, is in fact his choice of bride, the scandalous Princess Yonela. The youngest child of the late Andeja I, the 27 year old great-aunt of the emperor, Yonela has long been the rebel of the Imperial Family. Having fled the empire during the reign of their nephew, leaving as a man, adopting non-binary pronouns and working as a mercenary and pirate for years in exile, the princess had only returned to their homeland on condition of their pardon for their crimes.

Noted to be a favorite of the Emperor’s aunts and great-aunts, for the amorous monarch has always preferred his equally amorous aunts Yonela and Mamela to their more upright sisters, Yonela has been noted for their friendship with the Duchess of Chasse and adoration of the Emperor’s children. Yonela’s naval knowledge and experience as a pirate lord in Garandy lead to their appointment as Governor-General of Garandy earlier this year.

It seems in this, their joint arrival in Garandy, that the Duke and Princess got to know one another. No one would have suspected it would result in marriage. The princess had previous expressed no interest in the concept in any sense of permanence, said to have a husband in no less than theee different ports, and having already had a daughter out of wedlock, and yet the whole of the island found themselves delighted with the news of the match.

The Duke of Angoulême, dressed in the Hollande blue and white wed Princess Yonela, dressed in a man’s mourning suit, cigar in hand and a sea green rose pin to their chest in a swift civil ceremony in the Arsenal, before greeting cheering crowds with thousands of gift baskets, Knick knacks and free alcohol, easily winning the love of the citizenry of the Garandaians.

Where they already lived the Governor-General, for Yonela had lived amongst them in secrets for years, it seems the gift of free spirits and his position as their beloved Lota’s widower, and stepfather of the Duke of Vendome, has won Angoulême their love.

Of course all wonder if there exists any live between the new couple. We perhaps may never know the truth of their bed chamber, but it one must be blind to believe this a fairytale romance. While the two seem to get along, there is of course the political nature of the marriage. The Duke having originally promised to the Princess Imperial—only for her to disappear before the wedding could take place— and then his marriage to the Lota heiress, it seems this new match is the Duke’s attempt to repair the rift between the Hollande and the Imperial Family.

Rebellious they may be, a princess is still a princess. And Yonela holds the Dukedom of Haillun in their own right, which had once belonged to the Hollande. Thus in this marriage perhaps the rift is twice over repaired, if in an unorthodox manner. Unorthodox marriages it seems is the preference of both Duke and Princess, as Yonela seems to have spent the wedding night out on the town drinking, while the Duke has slipped away off the island to honeymoon elsewhere.

Paras Kanatus passes Nature Restoration Act

8 August 2139
Sioratassuar, Patuania

Paras Kanatus II has after seven months of negotiations has agreed to a new law that while continuing the path of modernization for Patuania, appeased many in the Environmentalist-Traditionalist Coalition in the Grand Assembly. The Paras was previously criticized by this faction for his elimination of barriers to new construction projects in the country, particularly on the coastline as part of his aggressive campaign to see Patuania catch up economically to its neighbors in the Borean League.

Since then however, a rise in individual projects, undertaken by small groups taking advantage of the loose regulations, sparked alarm in the timber industry as independent lumberjacks toon to cutting down the pine trees of Patuania’s majestic forests for construction with little to no documentation or record keeping. The fear of the haphazard destruction of the famously pristine Patuanian landscape and knowing the history of rapid unchecked industrialization in other nations, pushed the Paras to install new guardrails.

The Nature Restoration Act requires the registry of all industrial equipment, sites, construction plans and harvesting locations in the use of pine or spruce from the nation’s forests. It also requires all construction projects to follow a new set of ecologically friendly rehabilitation guidelines based on three zones A, B and C, with Zone A, the interior of the country, being the strictest as to preserve the natural beauty of the commonwealth, Zone B, all water front projects being focused on preserving water content and usability, and Zone C being the loosest for urban development in cities.

Amongst these new requirements is the replanting of double the amount of trees cut down, whether they be incorporated in designs or elsewhere off site in the commonwealth. Another is the requirement for outdoor recreational green space in city, set at a 40 square meters per person in Patuanian cities.

Grand Duke James has died

Image
the late James, Grand Duke of Teyland

20 August 2139
Carrick, Teyland

Grand Duke James, ruler of Teyland has died after ruling for 13 years at age 40 from a cerebral hemorrhage.

He died at the Alice Cranner Memorial Hospital in Carrick after suffering from a massive cerebral hemorrhage and being rushed to the hospital and falling into a coma. According to the Grand Ducal Palace, the Grand Duke was in a coma for over a week with attempts to keep the news from leaking to the public until finally at 11:40 am today, still unresponsive and with no way to improve his condition, with his wife and children at his side, it was determined to remove him from life support.

Grand Duke James came to the throne in 2126 following his own father and older brother’s death in the Fire at Wintershold. His near decade and a half reign over saw the strengthening of the nation’s fortifications, opening numerous diplomatic channels with its neighbors and the Grand Duchy becoming a gambling capital of the continent.

His eldest son, the new Grand Duke Leopold emerged with his mother at his side and stated that “The loss of my father is the greatest sadness I have ever felt,” and expressed the sorrow he and his family and “the whole of Teyland” feel in the wake of his death. “We profoundly mourn the death of a sovereign who had the throne thrust upon him, and yet so dutifully served our nation.”

Over the Grand Ducal Palace the Lion and Stripes, the nickname for the national flag, was lowered as the announcement was officially posted by the Grand Ducal Council who formally proclaimed Leopold as the new Grand Duke of Teyland. Leopold, 20, becomes the youngest monarch in the nation’s history, with his younger brother Prince Charles,19, becomes the new heir presumptive.

The Grand Ducal Family has now entered a period of mourning. In the coming days, much of national life will be put on hold. Official engagements will be cancelled and lion and stripe flags will be flown at half-mast on royal residences, government buildings, across the Armed Forces and on Teylandic posts overseas.

Members of the National Assembly will pay tribute to the late Grand Duke and take an oath to the new Grand Duke Leopold. There will be monastery bells tolling and gun salutes as local and national organizations and charities organize ways to pay their respects, with commemorative events and books of condolence.

A state funeral for the late Grand Duke is expected in the next two weeks.

Amelia Dreyfus, Duchess of Kent dies age 61

September 29, 2139

Amelia Dreyfus, 2nd Duchess of Kent to the shock of many was found dead in the gardens of her country estate today. The Duchess, who only recently became duchess in February earlier this year after the death of her elderly father. After waiting six decades to receive her inheritance, the duchess only enjoyed the title for a meager nine months. The sudden death of the duchess too is shocking, given she had seemed to be in good health. Despite this, it seems that while attending to her gardens alone on the Kent Estate, she suffered cardiac arrest and drop dead amongst her rose bushes.

With her death, she leaves behind her husband, Lord Christopher Montagu, already widowed once before by the loss of his first wife, Princess Adela (niece of Emperor Andeja I). Perhaps more interestingly however is the matter of the title. With her death, the Dukedom of Kent, with its fortune, estates and vast lands pass to her granddaughter, the toddler, Eleanor Pearson. The quick succession of deaths of the Duke of Kent, his granddaughter, and now his daughter sees one of the greatest peerages in Great Hyrukd left in the hands of a small girl.

Or rather, some suggest, in the hands of her paternal great uncle, Loris the Spider. For while the young new Duchess is officially under the guardianship of her handsome father, the twice widowed Prince Raphael, it is known that he is but an appendage of his scheming uncle, the Spider. Some have even suggested that it was “a spider’s bite” that fell Amelia Dreyfus into clearing the way for the risen of House Pearson to the title. For with the new peerage in the hands of the prince, he know can take Kent’s seat in the upper house of Parliament on behalf of his daughter, furthering the interests of the Pearson in the Hyrukian government.

King Dewa delivers Speech from Throne

December 1, 2139

As the members of the Dayeer National Diet gathered for their first meeting of the new parliamentary season, marking the end of the training season in Dayelle— noted this year for occurring a week or so later than usual— King Dewa arrived for the annual opening of the National Diet. Taking the throne, a tradition that dates back to the reign of King Dzon III and the first parliament of Dayelle, he gave a speech. His speech addressed the goals of the National Diet, with plans for new commercial reform and re-entry into the international market.

The stance of the government has ruffled some feathers amongst the party members of Prime Minister Toby Ndo’s Progressive Party. However, as the Progressive Party only holds power in their coalition with the more centrist Sovereign Party their protests have been limited.Foremost with the importance in the king’s speech was the announcement of the formalization of the Dayeer-Cagossian Alliance and the friendship treaty with Cagos.

Factions Reach Historic Agreement on Voting Rights Bill
January 16th, 2140

Image
The Federal Parliament chamber
Monarchist and Communist authorities have agreed today to the signing of a civil rights bill that will extend voting rights in local elections to all citizens age 18 and up in all federal states, irrespective of hereditary class. This historical agreement will guarantee voting rights, at least in mayoral and local council elections, although currently in Bârsa, Menumorut and Ialomița, states still under the control of the House of Severin, only citizens with aristocratic rank may run for office.

Nevertheless, the historic agreement will enable peasants in monarchist states to have a say in their governance, at least at a local level, for the first time in post-collapse history. Voting rights remained a major point of contention between the Communist and Imperial factions ever since the signing of the Saturday Armistice twenty-one years ago and this has been a major roadblock on the road to signing an actual peace treaty and formally ending the long-running civil war.

Celebrations erupted all throughout the nation, many believing the nation is one step closer to adopting a federal constitution. However, despite the increasing trend of goodwill between the factions, political pundits continue to urge caution and patience, as there are still many unresolved issues that need to be addressed before a formal peace is possible.

It remains to be seen if the Monarchist and Communist factions will continue to work towards a national reconciliation. In the meantime, both sides continue to maintain a significant number of troops along the border of the demilitarized zone and the possibility of resumption of hostilities remains an ever-present, if somewhat diminishing, danger.

Well, kind of. Technically, the civil war ended with the Saturday Armistice back in 2119, but officially no formal peace treaty was ever signed. There haven't been any violent incidents ever since
though, so technically we are at peace, its just that bureaucrats need to stop bickering and get this thing over with, lol.

Princess Regent christens a New Navy!

January 17, 2140

Despite rumors of a weakening regency, Princess Tasa, mother of the seven year old Queen Vaella has proven once again it is unwise to underestimate her. The Princess Regent, once again pregnant, this time at five months with her sixth child to be, arrived at the industrial docks of Renato, a city still under major reconstruction efforts following it’s devastation during the Great Eastern War. Here members of the small Caraintese Navy meet her with cheers and bows as she made her way to their great prize, the newly constructed HMS Waylander, a modern destroyer class warship, built in part by the nation’s allies in Great Hyruke and, some say, a direct response to the attack submarines of Turanda.

As tension continued to rise between the Princess Regent and the Queen of Turanda, largely over Turanda’s continued occupation of Lajastine territory and their expulsion of the Lajaz people (of which the princess herself is a ethnic member of, having once belonged to the Lajaz royal family before its deposition and extinction at the hands of Turandan invaders) , many of who have since fled to the Saizon Region in the Celestial Empire and Riessany, an eventual third outbreak of hostilities seems more and more likely as the two powerful women continue to build up their nation’s military. And while the Princess Regent herself remains master of civil administration, she has begun ceding more and more authority to her hot blooded husband, the Duke of Terantos.

Having inherited the blood lust of his grandfather, Prince Arthur of the Netherlands, the Duke of Terantos has been place in charge of the Caraintese Royal Marines, logging in as the premier military unit in the nation. And while proving himself as a masterful breeding bull, it seems the young man itched to prove he has the deadly rage of one as well. Though only time will tell of the Princess Regent shall have to use her deadly forces against the realm’s enemies.

Energia Rocket Ready for Flight
January 20th, 2140

Image
The Energia on its launch pad
ARES (the Republic Space Exploration Agency) has announced that their Energia rocket has completed all preliminary testing and has been cleared to launch. The fourteen meter tall rocket is designed to launch a scientific payload on a suborbital trajectory that would see it achieve an altitude of 110 thousand meters, breaching the Karman line into space, before descending back down to earth and releasing its payload to safely glide down using a parachute.

"This is a very important first step towards reclaiming space," said Mihail Petrescu, director of ARES. "While the Energia, at least in its current configuration, is only capable of a suborbital flight, this launch will provide us with extremely valuable data that will help us develop heat shielding and communications capabilities for future, more ambitious launches, eventually leading to our objective of launching a manned rocket into orbit."

Carpathia is one of the first nations in the Post-Collapse era to develop a space program and seriously pursue the goal of rebuilding civilization's orbital launch capabilities. A launch date has yet to be set for the Energia's flight, as the rocket currently awaits official approval from the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party, a mere formality at this point. The rocket has, however, caused some controversy, with the Monarchist faction lodging a letter of protest against the space program. "This kind of unilateral endeavor by the Communists is a breach of the Saturday Armistice. Neither faction is supposed to take any large-scale actions without consulting the other," said Lord Teodor Dragomir, official spokesman for the Imperial Council. The Communist Party has rebuffed the Monarchist protest, stating that "In no way [has the Communist faction] violated the Saturday Armistice, since we have not unilaterally engaged in foreign policy and nowhere in the terms of the treaty does it stipulate a limit on scientific exploration."

The space program has been a point of contention between the two factions, as the Monarchists likely fear that the capability to launch satellites would give their Communist rivals yet another advantage, both militarily and economically, as well as expand the range of their propaganda broadcasting capabilities beyond the current ability of the Monarchists messaging it does not like.

Marriage of Prince Rudolf and Lady Clementine

April 2, 2138

In a small formal civil ceremony in the capital today, Prince Rudolf, younger brother of King Berengar I and third in line to the Riessan Throne, married Lady Clementine de Valwa, scion of the illustrious Valwa Dynasty of Genes. The pair, long engaged as part of a truce in 2138 seem to have grown quite close to one another—Lady Clementine having arrived in Riessany at seventeen and enjoying a good friendship with her sister-in-laws, Queen Arabella and Princess Adelaide. With the marriage sealed, observers suspect the king has already turned his attention to find spouses of the next of his siblings down the line.

The birth of a new Princess!

3 April 2140
Gaosa, the Celestial Empire

There were mixed emotions in the capital this afternoon as the Emperor suddenly announced the birth of his third daughter, a newborn Princess Avoise de Volonte. What originated sparked great celebration as many thought this was the first child of the Empress, soon quickly turned to a sense of awkwardness as it was revealed that the child is that of the Emperor and a rekindled relationship with the beautiful Lady Adelaide Blackthorn.

Lady Adelaide, who had previously been briefly engaged to the Emperor reignited their relationship this past fall when she and her sister arrived in seeking the release from prison of Lsdy Philippa Dreyfus, granddaughter of the august Duchess of Aumale. Now it seems in both matters their efforts come to fruit as with the birth of the baby royal girl, the Emperor has pardoned Lady Philippa who was released this morning, aided by Lady Natalia Blackthorn.

The birth of Princess Avoise seems to further assert the 26 year old Emperor’s nicknamed of ‘the Amorous’ as the now 32 year old Empress Safia, continued to remain away from court childless, incapable and unwilling by either party in producing a true born heir.

Serodian Nobles Elect a new King!

22 August 2140
Taviedo, Serodia

The high nobles of Serodia, the members of the Electoral College met together at Castle de Pedorio to vote on the position of King of Serodia, a position that had thus far remained vacant. Comprised of the seven high nobles who serve as hereditary rulers of the lands of the realm, this gathering of leaders is a ceremony and function unique in history. Gathered together in the castle, they discussed the matter of the vacant throne, agreeing, with the principles of the nation’s elective monarchy to fill it.

The election of the new king was started with the nomination of candidates, with the selection pool being any member of the landed aristocracy of the kingdom. A number of candidates were indeed put forward. Seosamh Gretz, an Elector himself, along with Duke of Aragovia put himself forward as a contender. Gascon de Cuevas Rubias, son of Elector Ximan, Count of Santajón as well as Ambrosio de Çigales, a prominent landowner and Baron from Upper Léonte were candidates.

It would however, to the surprise of many, none of them who were to succeed. With ultimately it being decided in a unanimous vote (both Cuevas Rubias and Gretz reluctantly abandoning their candidacies) the throne was instead given to Onorato de Ayon, the young son of the late Jayme de Ayon, a well respected and influential figure in the formation of the National Diet until his death last year, leaving his estates, titles and name to his son.

At 24, Onorato de Ayon has become King-Elect of Serodia, and has been given the title of Prince of the Serodians. Onorato is set to be formally crowned inaugurated in Taviedo, the capital of the kingdom. While de Ayon is a small and minor family, this had in the view of some been the great benefit to this stunning turn of events. The new king-elect is set to move into the stunning Taviedo Castle in the capital as his new reign begins.

Prince Voarok foils Coup Conspiracy!

3 September 2140
Sioratassuar, Patuania

It was announced to day that Prince Voarok, brother of Paras Kanatus and famed veteran of the Imaratian Civil War, successfully uncovered and halted a conspiracy to overthrow the commonwealth’s government. A secret plot was hacked by radical elements of the Traditionalist-Environmentalist Coalition, which has formed in opposition to the Paras’ continuously progressive modernization programs in the commonwealth. The plot apparent set plans for kidnapping or even assassinating Paras Kanatus in order to force a new election for the position of Paras by the Grand National Assembly— with a non-Narikid candidate at the for front.

Prince Voarok however successfully uncovered the plot through his connections through the Commonwealth’s Armed Forces, as several officers were approached in the coup scheme, and informed the prince. The chief conspirators have either been arrested or have reportedly fled approach to Seoya and Riessany, sparking concerns over if they shall seek out the help of the Duchess of Hyrea or The Court of King Hojin, known rivals of Paras Kanatus. When the prince was honored at a public ceremony, he asserted that the scheme was likely to never truly get off the ground, describing it has lacking support, management for thoroughness.

Death of the Empress! Disaster of the Coast of Gante!

Image

12 January 2141
Gaosa, the Celestial Empire

Shock and tragedy has once again struck at the Imperial Family as what started as a simple pleasure cruise turned into a grime loss of life and love ones and shockingly, the death of the Empress.

Safia Hollande, the estranged wife of Emperor Andeja IV of the Celestial Empire was enjoying yachting trip in the Southern Sea with a number of the great ladies of Court. When boarding, many had elected to attend, intrigued by the rare occasion of opulence by the mild mannered empress.

Amongst the guests were a great number of notable names, particularly of the Hollande Family: the empress’s sister Lady Adela Hollande, the Duke of Sebta and his son and daughter-in-law, along with his granddaughter Louise de Hollande, the Duchess of Aumale and her daughter and two eldest granddaughters, including the infamous and recently freed Philippa Dreyfus, as well as Lady Astrid Ardales and her daughter Princess Khunjulwa and her most august mother, the indomitable Duchess of Infinity. Georgette Hollande and Francesca de Mauléart, grandmother of the Queen of Turanda, too was attendance, along with several of the Hyrukian relations: the Countess of Mendoza and her husband, Victoria Neptune and Edna, Emmanuel and Henry Whitmore—half siblings of the Duchess of Chasse— and their respective spouses, and Lady Henrietta Dreyfus—niece of the King of Great Hyruke—Prince Louis of Clarence, the Duchess of Cumberland and Duchess of Lauderdale and her nephews, Marcus and William Hayes and their wives. Most famous amongst these undoubtedly was the Marchioness of Worcester, war hero of the Great Eastern War, and that most magnificent diamond, Lady Adelaide Blackthorn.

The yacht, crowded with royals and nobles from both the Celestial Empire and Hreat Hyruke, largely a ladies event as the Empress conducted a rare social event. The yacht, the Caraquet sailed through the warm waters of the Southern Sea, and as champagne and mimosas flowed the atmosphere grew more lively. Just off the shore of Gante and in the sights of the ancestral Hollande family seat, Lady Adela called for the capture to give a maritime salute to her brother, the Duke of Angoulême who was in residence and had elected to remain ashore with his new born son, Andeja.

The captain, perhaps against better judgment did so in the dark, miscalculating their distance from the shore and the yacht and a rock just below the waves on the port side. So fast had the the yacht been sailing, that the collision all but shattered the bow of the ship and sent it capsizing, crushing against the rocks. Chaos erupted on the yacht as it listed dangerously to the side, sending its occupants falling into the water.

Empress Safia and her nearest companions, Charlotte Dreyfus and Georgette Hollande were quickly hurried to a smaller boat by guards and fled from the scene, alerting the local coast guard. Perhaps had the Empress held a colder heart, she may have survived, but she ordered her boat to turn around, reportedly hearing the screams of her half-sister. Lady Adela Hollande and Lady Adelaide Blackthorn had found themselves trapped in the the doomed vessel beneath a fallen beam. Many others had fallen into the water, and with many drunk, or elderly, or in the case of many of the noblewomen weighed down in heavy dresses and jewels, struggled to stay afloat.

Panic overtook reason and many began desperately the Empress’s boat as she tried to assist and drag it and its occupants into the waters as well. The waters soon claimed the lives of dozens. Only two managed to escape the horrific torrents: Louise de Hollande who managed to swim to shore, and Lady Henrietta Dreyfus, who clung desperately to a rock till she was rescued.

The death of so many, particularly so many high ranking women and men, has left the nation in a state of shock and mourning. Indeed, in the course of an enemy entire families, such as the Aumales, have been all but wiped out. No family suffering more than that of the Hollandes.

When the Celestial Emperor was informed of the death of his wife, he was left in a utter state of shock— though when informed of the death of his beloved Lady Adelaide Blackthorn, he broke into tears. The Caraquet Disaster had in a horrid bloody instant, become a dark smear in the history of the Empire.

Treaty of Sersonville ends the Seom War!

7 February 2141

Three years and 5 days following the outbreak of the war between the Celestial Empire and Seoya and some 2.4 million deaths later, peace has finally been reestablished between the two nations after Lord Haulani Rohan and Cha Young-Ja hashed together the so called Peace with Honor, a treaty in Sersonville that sees the trade of the Andejanes Archipelago and Hwanghu Port to Seoya in favor of the cities of Bererin, Oakburh and Kuzerobe to the Empire.

The treaty has been met with mixed reactions from the Empire’s populace, with reportedly the Mother Empress being greatly opposed to the treaty and its minor territorial exchanges as well as the new betrothal between Prince Hae-il and Princess Avoise. Former prime minister Alexandra Hollande denounced the treaty as being a peace without honor.

Meso Matango elected Protector of Rogoda!

1 March 2141
Centutu, Rogoda

Meso Nadine Matango (56) has successfully been elected as the sixth Protector of Rogoda, supplanting incumbent candidate Hupenyu Gumede in the national election. Matango is a former national intelligence officer— called a spy by some— with a law degree. Born to a wealthy and respectable family in 2085, Matango was orphaned like so many others by the violence of the Dutch Occupation Years and grew up in the formative and chaotic years of the Great Collapse.

Matango’s entry into the political arena was an unexpected one over the last few weeks, throwing her hat into the ring as a far-right alternative to the moderate Gumede, and asserting she would more bravely and ruthlessly defend Rogoda’s independence and economic interests abroad. Matango, while expressing great respect for Gumede, critiqued him for his overly neutral stances, and the seeming lack of agency in his response to growing tensions over the Ksoudia province.

Matango has announced that she intended to strengthen the military, reform education to make Rogeno academics more cohesive domestically and competitive internationally.

King Duarte marries Lady Cecelia Pearson-Schuepp!

17 June 2141
Taviedo, Serodia

Serodia has a new queen! Little more than a month after gaining a new king, the matching set is complete for the first in Serodia as King Duarte (25) married Lady Cecelia Pearson-Schuepp (28) in a beautiful royal ceremony in Taviedo. Lady Cecelia is the eldest daughter of the Earl of Witford, with her youngest sister, Arabella, being queen consort of Riessany. This marked Lady Cecelia’s second marriage, having previously been married to Prince Pierre de Guyenia in 2136 before his death eleven months later.

For the wedding Lady Cecelia wore a wedding dress designed by local Serodian designer Tareisa Valdés and wore a diamond and sapphire tiara that once belonged to her great-grandmother, Empress Charlotte of Geneva and gifted to her by her uncle, Prince Loris of Connuriste.

The wedding of King Duarte to Lady Cecelia marks a new era in the history of Serodia’s royals, and the forging of new ties between the Crown and other prominent families across the continent. This was seen in the attendance of hundreds of local Serodian members of aristocracy such as the Electors, as well as several foreign royals and nobles such as Princess Lyolte of Tarrata, the Duke of Fairfield and the Duke of Jouille. The wedding also marks the first great occasion introductions the Serodian public to their royals, skyrocketing their popularity.

Paras Kanatus puts Term Limits on the Grand Assembly

28 August 2141
Sioratassuar, Patuania

Paras Kanatus II has stunned the nation, and likely many of his political rivals as he in acted a new law via executive order setting term limits for representatives of the Grand Assembly, limiting them to no more than two consecutive terms, terms being set at five years. The new law is set to come into effect next year on the first of January following a new election in November. It is likely the new term limits, which notably does not apply to the Paras, are designed to uproot the long term representatives in the Grand Assembly, particularly the usually elderly and long serving Traditionalists who have sought to limit the Paras’ modernizing policies. As a new generation of Patuanian come of age, some suspect that the Paras hopes to appeal to them in shifting the sentiments of the Grand Assembly in his favor.

Guardian Party wins the National General Elections!

The Gualla Chronicler (
John Abebe )
3 March 2024 | Gua City, Commonwealth of Gualla

The Guardian Party has won a supermajority in this year’s Parliamentary General Elections, winning 84/110 seats.

This marks the second democratic election held in the nation since the adoption of the constitution. It remains to be seen if Cecil Hagan will remain as prime minister, though rumors abound that Hagan intends to resign in favor of a new party leader.

This general election is the first since number of parliamentary seats was increased from 46 to 110 in accordance to the proportional representation rule in the Guallan Constitution.

While the Guardian Party was the favored candidate, their supermajority stunned many, though experts suggest that it was likely due to the increased number of urban voters in the Commonwealth. Going from 27 to 84 seats, they won 57 seats.

The Libertarian Party, long time opponents to the more involved and centralizing Guardian Party has seen itself fall from grace, going from only ten seats down to only five, while the radical right-wing United Guardian Alliance has taken up the new position of the Opposition, jumping up from 8 seats to 17 seats.

The socialist and leftist People’s Party however had seen arguably the greatest proportional success, going from holding only one seat to now four seats in Parliament. King Alesandeo is slated to formally appoint a member to form a government later this week.
