Before a fairytale wedding must come a fairytale engagement. And thus was the story in Beliany as it was released by the Royal Family that King Leopold’s second son, Prince Christopher, is officially engaged to Princess Alana of Aravea. The engagement has been, surprisingly, one of love as opposed to politics, at least officially, though rumors persist of what may go on behind the scenes.

It has been an open secret that King Leopold has searched for the most prestigious brides for his sons, not to mention having a hand in the marriages of his nieces and nephews. Princess Alana is the youngest daughter of the Arkhoness of Aravea, a member of the House of Randgriz-Thalmburg and shall soon be joining the House of Coudenburg.

The two 23 year old royals meet back in 2091, at the King’s Annual Laeken Annual Garden Party, ans quickly hit it off, latched to each other’s sides for seemingly the entire event. Not long afterwards the two began dating, though, perhaps to the surprise of no one consider the tragic fate hid the late Queen Cécile when it came to the press, Prince Christopher requested an allotment of privacy.

This however didn’t stop leaked photos of the pair together flooding the press. No less than 16 paparazzi members were arrested for trespassing or attempted trespassing in hopes a snap shot, whilst there were injured during a scuffle amongst them while in a tree that looked into the window of a hotel the pair had stayed out in Brusiek.

Royal commentators have produced mixed reviews of the relationship, with shippers and supports dubbing them, #Chrislana and being almongst ferocious in their support. The Chrislana Official Fanbase has a reported 80 million subscribers. At one point a crowd of thousands stayed outside of the palace, demanding to see the couple and when learning they weren’t there, was sent into a rage.

Whilst no one was hurt, it is clear passions are high. And not all for the pair. Critics, particularly western Belians, have called Alana ‘undeserving’ and ‘unfit’ to wed Prince Christopher. Rumors in Ghant call her a power hungry searching for title outside her own fashionless country, with many saying that she had poached Christopher, with reports saying she is a jealous and vicious woman.

Meanwhile a decent percent of the population have called the engagement announcement both in bad taste following the death of Christopher’s cousin, Grand Duke Nukai of Russlande, barely two weeks ago, as conspiracist believe it’s attempt to distract from the upcoming parliamentary elections. Nonetheless King Leopold has promised a full exclusive to Royal Life—Beliany to track the lives of his son and future daughter-in-law and the progress of planning up until the wedding in a few months.

It was a day that would have passed as one of ordinary unimportance, if it weren't for the well placed shot.

Strategos Kayman Cratillo, our sixth Strategos and one of the most achieved Strategoses of our Commonwealth's history, was assassinated in his seating within the balcony of the Redcrow International Theater during a showing of a new Estocan fantasy film, which his youngest son had wished to go see. The perpetrator had set himself up behind the stage of the show, posing as a member of the camera crew as he operated the projector. The shot was heard through the theater and the Strategos fell dead to the ground with a bullet to the brain, his son and wife screaming from the terror.

The nation went reeling at the sudden death of the beloved Strategos, as nobody had expected that his life had bids against it, from an internal perspective. This belief, however, was also what prevented the rapid destabilization of the Council, which often caused issues during the election period, as the government united to find out what foreign nation plotted Strategos Cratillo's assassination. The perpetrator, a man of mixed ethnicity between Estocan and Russlandish, was identified to be Ruken Agland, an immigrant whom had trudged through the immigration process and had successfully obtained asylum within Estoca. His asylum was revoked and he was sent to XCOM for unknown punishment.

Three days after his death, the Military Council received the results of the Redeker entrance exams, showing three candidates for the position of Strategos. Cratillo's daughter, Sephiroh, the Islastrategos of Arokan, Yma Dotello, and the leader of the Monarchist Party of the Senate, Imam Odello.

The Redeker exams took place today at noon, and the three candidates each took the series of tests and were reviewed thoroughly by the council. Tonight, after careful consideration, Sephiroh was named as the next Rheistrategos [Strategos], and was brought to the city square in Aelial, where she was sworn into office by the Military Council on the Constitution of the Commonwealth and began her service as Rheistrategos of the Commonwealth of Estoca. Her first act was to arrange for a national funeral for her father, and to immediately crack down on the city, declaring martial law within the capital to secure her safety until the danger was lifted.

Commissioner of the SIB Appeldoorn has announced that the Special Investigation Bureau of the Federal Police. Under the oversight of the Department of the Interior pertaining to Atmoran democracy and safety of the constitution. Have indicted the Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition and former Deputy Prime Minister Willem Goesling with two counts of corruption charges. Commissioner Appeldoorn has commented that over a course a year investigation into Opposition Leader Goesling that Dectetives of the SIB have found strong evidence that Goesling has accepted bribes from influential businessmen. Along with an investigation by the Financial Marechaussee noting a suspicious wire transfer into Goesling accounts, amounting to over ƒ15.4 million. As the Financial Marechaussee and the SIB both indict Goesling for corruption. The Lord Chancellor has announced that the Department of Justice will be taking over the criminal proceedings of the Opposition Leader.

In the light of the charges against Willem Goesling, the Liberal Party has demanded that Goesling step down as leader and that Deputy Leader Gijsbert Moquette will take over as acting Leader of the Liberal Party and the Opposition. Till the Liberal can hold a leadership election and elect a new leader. Upon the resignation of Goesling; Wietske, Countess van Ansemburg van Assendelft and Sijbrand Anseele have announced their interests in seeking the leadership.

Ejército nacional struggles with Cartels

During these past few months the nation of Xentiak has been struggling with the steady rise of the cartels encroching on the nation, seemingly taking more power from the nobility every day as the Nobilities attempts of appeasement fail time after time and the ejército nacional struggle to battle the well equipped gangsters. Because of this uphill battle Queen Catalina De Silva has invited the great nation of Estoca to assist them in their time of need. She laments that this is necessary however it must be done in order to restore order to a nation rife with chaos. Princesa Reina De Silva of course supports this decision as she has been a proponent of ousting the cartels from their strongholds by any means necessary be it financially or militarily. Many would argue the cartels massive export of cocaine, sugar and tobacco from the former colonial nation abroad is a massive part of the nations income, despite the governments refusal to believe it. In the Queen's words: "Nuestros amigos en Estoca han venido a liberarnos del yugo de estos ladrones y bandidos." We have high hopes that this will finally stop these constant dangers in our nation.

Massive breakthrough on QE drive

The Order of Yun, a religious order honouring the Aeylic god of knowledge has announced a breakthrough on the implementation of a QE drive. This would allow the Holy Imperial Fleet to cut down drastically on travel time from the home world into the colonies. This surely is an amazing breakthrough, one can only hope that implementation will begin soon. Lord Alecto the Fifth, Grand Abbot of the Order of Yun and one of the nine Lords of the Necropolis has been heading the project and is quoted saying that they will begin constructing a prototype craft immediately in hopes of being able to outfit it by the end of the year.

In other news, the Agropolis has achieved fifteen percent completion and is now up to ten percent of its productivity. We are excited to see the completion of what is being called the greatest public works project of our time. It would be a wonderous sight for no one under the care of his holiness the Holy Aellyrian Emperor to ever want for food again.

Australia Suspends Access of Lindali Registered Aircraft to Australian Airspace
Starting Wed 12 August, registered aircraft of the Republic of Lindale regardless of being government or private owned, will be restricted from Australian Airspace until further, their Civil Aviation Authority said on Monday. Upon discovery by the Australian government of deception by Lindale towards the Australian government, relations from the nation have been strained. During the Sino-Lindale Conflict, military aircraft from Lindale enroute to Hanoi, Bangkok, and Lindale occupied Hainan, did not make proper disclosure when performing regular refueling stops in Melboure, Adelaide, and Perth during the height of the conflict in July.
"The Lindale government did inform us of the active military status of these aircraft, which have now broken our trust. Not only in principle, but also in safety, as it was recently confirmed these aircraft were transporting high grade explosives and other munitions." As the government has planned to reopen the borders to select destination starting 17 August, the airline industry is concerned that New Zealand in aggreement with Australia may also restrict their airspace to Lindali aircraft. The Holy Aellyrian Emperor made one of his very first public appearances since the death of his mother and the first ever from the balcony of the High Temple. In his appearance he has announced the sanctity of world of Arrak, a completely barren desert moon that was recently discovered due to the efforts of the Order of Yun. He has also now the youngest ruler of Aellyria to be raised to be deified, the Cult of the Sun an all female splinter of the Aeylic Church has announced their recognition of the young Holy Emperor as the reincarnation of the god Heilon, who is also unsurprisingly the son of the fire god Qutu in the theology of Aellyria. This cult has pledged to protect the young Holy Emperor at all costs and has been entrusted to guard him for life.

In other news, the Holy Emperor has announced his plans to visit his half sibling in the Palace of the Padishah later this year, his ship "The Light" is being outfitted and prepared for this trip in six months time, that will take the young Holy Emperor away from the capital for a mere two weeks, allowing him to meet with his younger siblings for the first time since their mother passed away.

This morning at 0845, a commissioned ship under the Holy Privateering Act reported the presence of a foreign ship within Aellyrian Colonial space, in accordance with policy the privateers went to investigate. Unfortunately while doing so the Holy Imperial Fleet lost communications with the privateers. We here in the capital can only hope that all is well while our brave privateers go once more into the breach. Of course, the Holy Imperial Fleet has been sent to investigate, however there were no Imperial ships within distance at the time.

In other news, colonial generation is going well with an increase in births up to 120 percent from those estimated only five years ago. There is now a ratio of twelve children to every one adult, making it the youngest population in the Holy Aellyrian Empire. We here in the capital are of course elated as we see all of the colonies as our children. As the capital provides for them as a mother provides for their children.

Prince Gedeyon of Gênes, a grandson of King Frederick II, and his wife, Princess Charlotte (nee Aumale) welcomed their first child into the world at Tadasse Central Hospital in downtown Gênes. Prince Gedeyon married Aumale, heiress to the Dukedom of Aumale in Derita in February of 2089 and have lived a quiet domestic life in the capital. Prince Gedeyon works in the Administrative Bureau of Nature Peservation on the outer isles of the country whilst Charlotte is a consultant in naval medicine. Prince Gedeyon was granted the 1229 Adel Penthouse by his grandfather following his acension to the throne in 2092. Tne couple announced they were expecting their first child this past summer. Princess Charlotte went into labor early this morning and was taken to the hospital. There she gave birth to a daughter, a great-granddaughter of the King of Gênes. She has been named Princess Emerta Adel of Gênes, and she is 18th in line to the throne after her father, grandfather and many aunts, uncle, and cousins.

Royal Colficoan Army Shows Off New Tank at Public Demonstration!

The Royal Colficoan Army had been planning a public demonstration for several weeks now, an event meant to both inspire new recruits, and to help raise funds fofr several charities. The event had no special plans officially, however, events played out very differently once the vehicular demonstration track was opened and vehicles began driving on the track. There were multiple tanks present, including a pair of CM-4S tanks, and a T-6 main battle tank. However, as awesome as those vehicles were, one tank in particular, a surprise guest to the event, stole the show. The 60 ton monster of a vehicle was not one of the usual storied veterans normally seen at this type of event. The vehicle, the newly designated H-1 Caiman, is a new addition to the arsenal of the RCA, and marks the single heaviest ground vehicle currently in service with the RCA. The tank also performed a demonstration firing, giving the audience a show firing multiple shots from its massive 120mm D-3 cannon, destroying several target vehicles which had been prepared on a firing range on the demonstration sight, including the destruction of a scrapped T-6 main battle tank, the old main battle tank exploding in a fiery blaze after being struck by the massive 120mm high explosive anti tank round. The vehicle also demonstrated its mobility, and proved that, while sluggish when turning, could keep a modest 21 miles per hour in a straight line, and could quite quickly reverse out of danger.

The Caiman drew crowds after it finished its demonstration, and was one of the most visited attractions there that day. It is currently unclear just how many of these massive tanks the RCA plans to bring into service, however we do know that at least one armored battalion will be fielding them for the foreseeable future.

Crowds gathered before Ragnargata Palace, the winter home and official residence of the Grand Duke as the Dictator of the Marches attended the parade of the Gosataborgian Home Guard. The parade is a traditional part of the changing of the guard, created by the grand duke two decades ago at Ragnargata which takes place on a daily basis, however today's event was particular for the attendance of the Grand Duke in his role as Dictator of the Marches. Further more, the event was performed by the elite Life Guard, which ususally only performs the duties of the Royal Guard during grand ceremonies, such as state events or the coronation of a new sovereign. The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess reviewed the march of soliders. The impressive goose-step of soldiers wowed many in their famously splendid uniforms. However, perhaps most impressive was the presentation of a dozen 25mm Hotchkyss anti-tank guns, which where fired by a team of Life Guards for the Grand Duke. The unexpected treat seems to have come out of nowhere, and assembled quickly. It's cheering crowds showed how how easy it is to be reminded of Gosataborg's strength.

RCNS Crown Jewel Sets Sail for Toxin Island, With King Sebastian Aboard

It is not often that the military of the Kingdom of Colfico is deployed overseas, however this is one of those uncommon occasions. At 5:30 Am, Tuesday, the battleship Crown Jewel, along with an escort of six ships, surprised boaters and commuters when they left dock, and sailed through the harbor to open sea, heading south towards a spot of interest, Toxin Island. The Island in question is currently in contention, between Hyruke, Colfico, and the Celestial Empire, despite being a toxic hell hole of an island.

Even more surprising was the arrival of a motorcade, three vehicles total, shortly before the departure of the battleship. Out of one of the vehicles was King Sebastian himself, seemingly having decided to oversee the operation personally. With the Kings direct involvement,it would seem that the RCN is about to take a far deeper interest in the Island, though the goals of the expedition are yet unknown. The military has stated that the task force is simply executing a training exercise, in conjunction with a Deritan task force.

National Ministry of Mining approves opening of 3 new iron mining’s in formerly protected forests

Following the discovery very of substantial iron ore deposits in the hills of the town of Carlinra in northeastern Patuania by three men: Roalun, Rekkos and Dekalum who were trespassing on protected land, the conversation of what to do with that knowledge was kicked all the way to the Directorate Grand Council in Sioratassuarler, with Neuvonantaja Hin Varlosauro of the Ajikia introducing a bill to allow limited mining operation on protected land. The bill proposed opening up as much as 32% of protect lands, mostly in Ajikia and Torneth. After intense debate amongst the Ajikia neuvonantajas, the issue moved on to Torneth neuvonantajas who came to the consensus of agreement.

With this, the Junior Moiety of the Directorate Grand Council presented their proposal to the Senior Moiety. The Sisomertalal neuvonantajas voted in opposition, though the Yperusak neuvonantajas voted in favor, automatically resulting in a majority block vote in favor of the bill and not requiring a tie break from the Sioratassuar neuvonantajas. The law, nicknamed the Hin Protective Mining Act has begun implementation today with the construction beginning on a mine in Carlinra with two more to be opened nearby. The mines will be operated as a state own program with workers selected from the local communes.

The Ministry of Mining has begun the process of marking out other potential mining sites throughout the protective areas in the Patuanian Alps.

Horror filled the hearts of families throughout Laja as workers didn’t return home at night from a long day at work. To the heartbreak of many, many never will. The as of of yet unnamed bridge that was being constructed across the Fiyeli River just outside of the capital city of Laja, meant to better connect the north and the south, collapsed into the river below. The collapse tossed over a hundred on duty workers into the the river or onto the banks.

Nearly two hundred people were rushed to various hospitals as a search and rescue was conducted in the river. The task was made difficult in light of recent heavy rainstorms that had resulted in the river being at higher water levels than usual. A reported 46 people have been confirmed to have died from the accident, while a further 136 people are injured, of those 8 are in serious medical care.

The collapse over the Fiyeli has sparked outrage from the families of workers, spear headed by attorney at law, Garas Arshad, who has argued that it was the lack of strict business safety regulations in Lajastine that allowed for the collapse to happen as well as for business owners to put workers’ lives knowingly in harms way. When Arshad and the protesting families were able to get an audience before the Sultan, he agreed to establish stricter workplace safety guidelines throughout the country.

Kanatus II, Paras of Patuania was well received in Helvero, a major city in western Gosataborg as he met with Sakarias, Grand Duke of Gosataborg for extensive diplomatic talks between the two monarchs. Paras Kanatus and Grand Duke Sakarias lead the first half of negotiations and talks over economic and financial agreements between Patuania and our eastern neighbor.

When the talks took a break. Paras Kanatus was seen befriending the Grand Duke’s son and heir, Hereditary Prince Ragnar. Meanwhile the Grand Duke and his wife, the lovely Grand Duchess Mathilde, were seen to talk a friendly stroll with Princess Hosa, grandmother of Paras Kanatus II and widow of Paras Kanatus I.

As the first day of the forging diplomatic ties came to an end, a state dinner was hosted by Grand Duke Sakarias at Avenyn House, an estate held by Gosataborgian noblewoman, Countess Wilhelmine of Landurnes. At the dinner, Paras Kanatus and Prince Ragnar arrived together in a show of fraternity between their countries, dressing in the other’s military uniforms.

The young Patuanian monarch was seated next to the wise Gosataborgian monarch, and the pair enjoyed pleasant conversation and course after course of fine Gosataborgian cuisine. The state dinner is sign of great friendship between Patuania and Gosataborg and already a economic treaty is is in the works. This however is likely the first step in a true total alliance between the two.

Royal Colficoan Navy Departs From Toxin Island

When the Crown Jewel had arrived at Toxin Island, the exact goals of the ship and her strike group had been unclear, her intentions, as well as exact destination, having been a carefully classified secret. However, it would seem that either that goal has been achieved, or deemed no longer worthwhile. The Royal Colficoan Navy has officially announced that it will be withdrawing its forces from the area, following a non-violent confrontation with Hyrukian ships in the area, which were ended peacefully following talks between unnamed representatives. While the exact conversation, or the results there of, are unknown, the results are clear, as the flagship of the RCN was seen steaming away from the island. However, interestingly enough, this departure was followed almost immediately, by a peculiar development back home. The Royal Colficoan Navy has made several acquisitions of private vessels, notably merchant vessels of various sizes, and has placed an order for their conversion into auxiliary vessels, of unknown type and role. This is not the first time that the Royal Colficoan Navy has done such a thing, as Auxiliary vessels played an important role in helping reestablish order on the coast, helping to root out smugglers, pirates and other criminals from the coast of Colfico following the events of the Time of Despair, as well as occasionally providing direct support to the RCA and RCAAF operations during those trying times.

Ship Sinks on Great Colficoan River, No Fatalities Thanks to Heroic Pilot

It was all quiet in the delta of the Great Colfico River, watercraft and ships going about their business as usual. Then, unexpectedly, disaster struck, as a vessel struck a floating piece of debris, causing severe damage, and causing the vessel to begin sinking, and in a particularly fast moving section of the river. It was a dire situation for the vessels crew. However, things took a turn for the better, as Calvin Vincey, flying his BY-3, was nearby, and heard the ships SOS call, and kept into action.

He brought his aircraft down, and performed a risky landing on the fast moving water, and began pulling crewmen off of the doomed boat, all the while fighting the fast moving water with the aircrafts engines. He repeated this process three times, before finally rescuing the entire crew of the stricken vessel, successfully rescuing all sixty three crewmen and passengers, including eight Deritans, and four Gosataborgians. Calvin, and his Co pilot have both been awarded the Royal Service Cross, the highest award possible for a civilian, and their aircraft has received an honorary service star, to be painted on the right side of the fuselage, under the cockpit, honoring its heroic deed.

With this event, there have been calls for a corps of search and rescue personnel operating BY-3s, and both the RCAAS, and RCN, have allegedly placed orders for an unknown amount of the aircraft.

Prime Minister Sophia Cambolton announced the approval of the Royal Seas of Heritage Act which declared an extension of Hyrukian territorial waters to 24 nautical miles and an extension of the Hyrukian exclusive economic zone to 250 nautical miles in order to protect Hyrukian fishing rights. The act was written by members of parliament Hon. Cordelia Leal and Dr. Cecily Leal, upper and lower house respectively.

The two scions of the notable Leal Family have become the most prominent members of the Liberal Party following the retirement of former prime minister Celia Liddicoat. The Liberal party had long sought after the expansion of Great Hyrukian territories and further distancing from the continent, promoting the idea of Hyrukian Individualism, asserting that the United Queendom must stand alone.

The passing of the act was met with surprise as Cambolton, leader of the Conservative party, opposed the act, but was outvoted as several members of her own party crossed the aisle to side with the Leals. This has been suggested to been caused by the outrage from the Toxin Island Incident, which sparked a rare order from King Arthur to increased security patrols of national waters by the Royal Navy.

The Duchess of Kerry, cousin of the King, said in a statement that “all ships must learn to bow to the authority of the Royal Navy. The sea is dangerous and our sailors keep them safe. After all, Hyruke rules the waves.”

It has been a well known fact that Vizerman Island has been home to several villages, as well as a RCN Naval base, for its time as part of the United Kingdom of Colfico, and has also been home to a substantial fishing industry, both small and large scale. However, now that seems to be under threat, following the hyrukian attempt to extend an Economic Exclusionary Zone, on to the area, The initial response from the RCN was a simple request for its revision, and there is still hope that a compromise can be reached without violence, however, it would seem that the RCN is not content to simply sit on its laurels and wait for the Hyrukian response.

It was at 3:00 AM when the fleets carrier, RCNS Colfico, and a strike group consisting of two monitors, five destroyers, twelve destroyer escorts, three fire support vessels, fourteen corvettes, one auxiliary frigate, four auxiliary cruisers, two auxiliary minesweepers, and five auxiliary gunboats, departed from the coast, towards Vizerman island, their actual destination classified. The Royal Colficoan Navy has also enacted a simple order, to chase off any Hyrukian warships attempting to interfere with Colficoan civilian vessels operating in the area, although the order has specifically forbidden firing upon civilian vessels without express, and justified, cause. There has also been a spotting of at least one Colficoan submarine deployed to the area, although it was not positively identified, and no actual announcement of a submarine deployment has been made by the Royal Colficoan Navy. The RCAAS detachment on Vizerman island on the island has also been activated, including its squadron of fifteen I-9 Sailfish Supersonic Interceptors.

The RCN and RCAAS were not the only forces to be mobilized, the garrison of eight hundred and fifty three soldiers on Vizerman Island has also been mobilized, and has begun preparing to defend the island from the possibility of invasion. This has included the activation of its armored detachment, including 40 T-6 Main Battle Tanks. These soldiers include two hundred Royal Colficoan Navy Marines, whom have deployed their arsenal of ultralight howitzers, in preparation to defend the Island as needed.

Tensions continue to rise as other nations react to the new boundaries set by the Royal Seas of Heritage Act with geopolitical analysts warning that it could lead to a conflict. Following the enforcement of the new martitime boundary, almost immediately confusion and outrage was the response from the international community. To the north, it was pointed that this new claim would encompass effectively the entire sea, a complaint of the Colficoans.

Talks began between the Colficoans and Hyrukians over a compromise and more cooperative delineating of a maritime border, but as the Colficoans spoke of peace with one hand, in the other it seems they are determined to bring about conflict, sneakily mobilizing an aggressive fleet. Hon. Cordelia Leal has said that it without a doubt a prelude to a Colficoan attack on Hyrukian citizens, bringing up the infamous Toxin Island Incident earlier this year.

“They do not wish to speak of diplomacy,” Leal said to the Times, “they wish to be the latest in a long line of continental invaders looking to rape our fair motherland, pillage our shores and violate our sovereign waters.”

The inflammatory imaginary of Leal’s words were paired with art by political cartoonist Abigail Eartwright depicting a monstrous creature of a man assaulting the beautiful Hyrauca, ancient personification of Great Hyruke. The art, so graphic in its depiction of Colfico’s attack, has already been faced with charges relating to censorship. Nonetheless it has burned a hole into the minds of many.

The signs of Colficoan aggression continue as it has been leaked fro the Hyrukian foreign affairs department a message from the Colficoan government where they asserted that “ we will take measures... including poisoning of fisheries.” When the topic of aggressive expansionism came up, their response was “Colfico will do whatever is necessary to... profit off of such things”. Meanwhile the Colficoans have launched what can only be considered an invasion force of a fleet and readied soldiers on Vizerman Island.

In Parliament, the Liberal party under the Leal cousins have called for more defensive action to be taken, but Prime Minister Cambolton has dragged her feet. Around Vizerman Island, a squad of four Tiger-class have been order to stay the course and sail around the island at a distance of 50 miles, the boundary which the foreign affairs offered as a compromise, putting them directing in the path of the Colficoan fleet. The squad has been ordered not to divert course.

“If the Colficoans wish for peace, they will salute His Majesty’s ships,” said the prime minister. “Then talks can continue.”

“It’s a great game of chicken,” said political analyst Emma Wrentwood. “Both literally and physically.” Wrentwood used this analogy to illustrate what she believes is a ‘shoot-second’ conundrum, where nations don’t want to be seen as aggressors, but at the same time don’t want to back down. “This isn’t like Toxin Island,” said Wrentwood, “where suddenly there was a chance of confrontation. This is directly it’s successor. But it’s not the same. Each side is unwanting but willing, an extreme form of brinksmanship. Each each is presenting the other with two choices each time. Peace or conflict. And the making those detailed stakes higher. It’s a very high risk high reward system because it truly tests how far one is ready to go.”

Wrentwood also brought up the topic of Genes’ complaints about the act. “People forget that there are not us two sides, but three. Which I think is something that I hope our politicians don’t forget. Depending on how things go with this game of who blinks first, this Vizerman Game, that will directly have consequences on the other side of the sea. While peace in the north or in the south may not mean peace in the other, it is certain that if there is conflict in the north, there will be conflict in the south.”

In the recent events surrounding Vizerman Island, it would seem that there is no end to the dangerous game being played, however the Royal Colficoan Navy seems determined to hold its ground, as several new actions have been taken. With the RCNS Colfico, and her entire task force, having been moved directly into the path of a known Hyrukian patrol, with orders to hold position, and use any method necessary to defend the Island, and it would seem that her admiral is intent on doing just that. At 2:00 am on the very early morning of Thursday, the 6th Fighter Wings 3rd Squadron took off from the deck of the pre-collapse carrier, the roar of their I-9 Sailfish Interceptors filling the air as the powerful aircraft were shot forwards at incredible speed by the catapults on the flight deck of the carrier. The six aircraft then preceded directly towards the approaching Hryukian ships, with wings folded straight back, and moving at incredible speed, nearing the aircrafts mach 3 top speed. When they neared the Hyrukian ships, they suddenly dove to lower altitude, and each made a pass on each Hryukian ship, while not releasing any weaponry, or firing a shot, they flew extremely close to each vessel, each creating a thunderous roar as they boomed past.

This was then followed up by orders from the admiralty to deploy a auxiliary wolfpack to the area, and to begin shadowing the approaching ships, so as to both box them in, and to make it perfectly clear that they were being watched, with no shots fired, neither in aggression, nor in salute, among these was the legendary Auxiliary Cruiser RCNS Killowen, and multiple smaller auxiliary vessels. The strike groups two monitors have also moved into positions to intercept the Hyrukian ships, with several escorts in tow, although a substantial force has remained with the carrier to provide her with the protection that such a vessel requires, a standard Colficoan Staggered Battle Line, a formation normally taken up in preparation for combat.

The King himself came forward with a public announcement, speaking on live radio and television in front of the entire nation.

"My fellow Colficoans, and to my Genoise acquaintances across the sea, these are grave times, our nation is under threat, ships of the Royal Hyrukian Navy seek to impose their will upon the Colficoan people, and the waters in which those people call home, a source of food, and a source of a way of life. I do not enjoy war, as no Colficoan does, we suffered more than twenty years of war during the Time of Despair, a war which cost the Colficoan people dearly, and saw many of our countrymen killed. However, sometimes, to protect the things that one loves, and that one cares about, you have to not only be willing, but to be ready to take up arms, and defend it. A peaceful solution will be sought, and if possible, achieved, however, the terms presented as of now, are unacceptable, and amount to extortion on a grand scale, something that I cannot, and will not, stand for. The Hyrukians seek to use military force to enforce their endeavor of conquest and expansion, and we have seen in the past what happens when such people are appeased. So we must make our stand, and we will make our stand, as tragic and costly as it may be, now is one of those times where we must take a stand, and dig our feet in, in the sand, in the dirt, and in the mud, and if it comes to it, we will fight. We will fight this would be conqueror at sea, in the air, and on land, and if we must, we will fight on the shore, in the forests, and in the fields, on the our river, and even the mountains. We will fight for every gain of sand, however, we do not need to do so alone, for we are not alone in this struggle. It is for this reason that I call out to our Genoise brothers and sisters in arms, to stand together with us, to present a united front, strong, and resilient like reinforced concrete. An alliance has brought together the military of the Valois of Genes and Merrimack of Colfico

King Frederick III and King Sebastian of Colfico and Genes respectively never come together to form a military alliance against the rising threat of Great Hyruke’s naval and maritime power and boundaries. The two kingdoms have come together to stand against the ambitions of the Hyrukians.

This alliance is to be sealed with the marriage of King Sebastian to Princess Philippa, a granddaughter of King Frederick. As the Princess embarks on her journey to the northern kingdom, she is followed by the Genoise 1st Fleet, lead by the aircraft carrier Vittorisosa, along with five battle cruisers, ten destroyers, ten corvettes, ten frigates, two minesweepers, three auxiliary escort ships along with eleven support gunboats.

The fleet nicknamed the Princess Fleet, has been put under the command of Admiral Daniachew Medinara. The fleet has asserted that it shall demonstrate the rights of Genoise waters that Hyruke has threatened to take. King Frederick III and Queen Catherine has warned Great Hyruke that they shall “push them back into their beloved sea.”

An Uneasy Withdrawal

With Fleets from the north and the south posed against Great Hyruke, an hour before confrontation between Hyrukian cruisers and the Colficoan carrier fleet would have been due, the Lady Admiralty ordered its ships to turn around, leaving the waters around Vizerman Island. The order is said to have come directly from the office of the prime minister, and had been met with mix results. Many are applauding the narrow avoidance of war. Others have lampooned the withdrawal as a disaster.

Despite the withdrawal of the squad of cruisers, Parliament will continue to uphold the Royal Heritage of the Sea Act, and continues to uphold the claims to the extended maritime boundary. However it seems that such a boundary will not be brought to recognition by the international community by force of military might. Despite this, analysts like Emma Wrentwood warns that tensions may not cool for time to come as there are more than naval fleets as ways to bring about a the interests of Great Hyruke.

It came as a pleasant surprise to many, as conflict was narrowly avoided, a mere hour before a battle would have erupted on the sea, despite this, it would seem that many within the Royal Colficoan Navy are not convinced by the withdrawal, and there has been no move to recall the carrier group from its current deployment, in fact, there has been a further development of that deployment, as Royal Colficoan Navy vessels, both standard and Auxiliary, have been ordered to maintain regular patrols, both above and under the waves, of Colficoan waters, with orders to chase off any intruders from our southern neighbor, and if necessary and with proper warning, sink them. There have also been talk of applying pressure against Hyrukian shipping in the area, while lethal force against these vessels has bee discussed as an express last resort, talks of sanctions, and even of an outright removal of Hyrukian civilian shipping from the area, are very much so a reality.

The Royal Colficoan Navy has also used this brief reprieve as an opportunity to reinforce its marine detachment on Vizerman Island, bringing the total of deployed troops up to 1,145, including a battery of heavy 185mm field guns, deadly towed artillery pieces with a range of thirty kilometers, and firing a truly massive shell, as well as the first true deployment of the H-1 Caiman heavy tank, with there being a total of twelve of the massive tanks now deployed to the island, along with 115 lighter tanks.

King Sebastian has made it perfectly clear, that so long as the Royal Heritage of the Sea Act remains unchanged, so too will the build up of military forces in the area, and has issued a very stringent warning, that any attempt by the Hyrukian Navy to subvert Colficoan Maritime Waters will no longer be met with a warning, if Hyruke wishes to test its luck, then the Royal Colficoan Navy shall show that it is not playing their games, and will meet false bravado with very real firepower.

Charles, Prince Royal and Princess Alara of Derita

A happy day at Wattingham Palace as King Arthur announced the engagement of his eldest son and heir, Charles, the Prince Royal to Princess Alara of Derita, youngest child and daughter of the Emperor of the Celestial Empire. The Prince and Princess meet earlier this year when the princess and her sister came to visit in a stay at the court of the King, during which the pair immediately hit it off and got along. Prince Charles proposed to Princess Alara with the Marie Sapphire, the same ornate ring given to the prince’s great-grandmother, Grand Duchess Marie Ivanovna.

The engagement is said to be a true love match, though the pair have known one another for over a few weeks. And while love may have brought the Royal couple together, politics have been involved in order to bring their two countries together. In lieu of a bride price, Parliament has agreed to grant the new addition of the royal family an annual income of £800,000 and a ducal estate. With this also forms a formal alliance between Derita and Great Hyruke, the first of such in a hundred and thirty years.

The alliance declares that it is cordially agreed that if, in time to come, one of the sovereigns or their heir shall need the support of the other, or their help, and in order to get such assistance applies to their ally in lawful manner, the ally shall be bound to give aid and succour to the other, so far as he is able (without any deceit, fraud, or pretence) to the extent required by the danger to their ally’s realms, lands, domains, and subjects; and they shall be firmly bound by these present alliances to do this.

This is summarized in a cause penned by Queen Mary and Empress Amélie in which the the wording is simplified to the two states to ‘never wage war against each other nor participate in wars on opposite sides’. The alliance also establishes a free trade and custom union with the two nations. The wedding, set to take place in two months, is expected to be the largest event in Great Hyruke in a century, a mark of a grand new era.
