I also find it funny how most people take Modern Tech so seriously. Like its impossible for multiple tech levels to exist together. I firmly believe in progressing forward. In other words just because one nation chooses to be an MT nation doesn't everyone else has to. People should be allowed to move towards the future. Sooner or later modern tech won't save you from a nation who has moved on.

And then there is the Alien and other non-humans whom the MT rule shouldn't even apply to. Besides Alien Tech is merely modern tech to the aliens who made it of you think about it. It's only future tech to humans because to far advanced.

I can see why some people wouldn't want to leave MT. It's very stable and everyone is about on equal terms. I think progressing your nation technologically so long as you do it slowly is a great thing, though. Cavallagna now is a very late PMT/very early FT nation that only controls a very small portion of its homeworld, has just managed to achieve faster than light travel and still uses mostly conventional, modern technologies like firearms. I intend on developing wilder things like energy based weaponry, have them come to achieve more of a hegemony over their home, refine their ability to carry out interstellar spaceflight and so on both because I want to slowly become relevant instead of starting out with all kinds of great science fiction magic and because I just enjoy Roleplaying technological advancement.

I dunno. tl;dr I agree, there are lots of reasons why it's silly.

If the IFC wishes to align itself with us, it may send a representative over to become an observer. It may also approach us and we can, as a CONGRESS, vote on if we'll have relations with them. It will be a formal document with all the little details spelled out.
