Oops, sorry :P Just assume Diverga is right, particularly since in my most recent post, Tyroth left without Neera after making sure she was alright.

I propose we have a vote (or simply a talk) about a soirée (fancy party) in a leader's castle (Nation must be part of the MSU of course).

It would be the perfect chance to forge personal alliances, friendships and/or relationships.

I'm trying to lead up to that for us. (Those of us not interested in the current anthro strife would have something to do.)

It would be a fancy party. Leaders and their families or bodyguards.

A large buffet, a dancing hall, a music stage and a set of luxrious rooms.

While i would like to attend something like that. Sadly Anhur is in the middle of a war so our leader would not be able to attend.

We could do that. The B-5 Principle is always good. The problem is transportation for those which limited (or no) technologies. We basically invented a star close to the system (Prudi) thus no one could claim it as canon. I think that would be a little over the top. Hard to navigate to cuz they are always moving in relation to other bodies and for some (like me who uses node lanes between stars) it is impossible to get to using FTL.

I've got something in mind but I'm waiting for Storm to log in and give his opinion.

The basics:

The station

The description:
The station lurked between here and nowhere, suspended like a fat spider upon an invisible web and secured in place by sheer determination and a hell of a lot of elbow grease. She was massive and beautiful, a twinkling work of art haloed by a ring of blue and yellow shipping lane markers. Up until one hundred years ago, she belonged to the Thade peoples but now she was used as a place of peace and wisdom. Not that Thade weren’t wise; they’re simply were not peaceful according to galactic social standards. Think of it as that rude uncle with the loud tie offering a small child a quid. The child can’t help but be excited, so much so that he’s willing to overlook the obnoxious uncle in favor of the treat. Thus the galaxy whole-heartedly agreed to ignore the Thade’s strange mindset and odd hygiene habits in favor of the gift.

The station sat in an area of space known as the Triune Quadrant. This hardy bit of real estate was overlapped in ownership by three major empires but given up as neutral ground in favor of diplomatic relations. All three patrolled the TQ, and two had designated shipping routes for those seeking to go to and from the station. It needs to be said, however, that these massive and highly advanced empires took a dim view of anyone thinking to bring war to the passive station, and any attempts made upon the TQ would be met with outright war (unless the Nifid answered first; they were prone to genocide over such grievances as rings left by coffee cups or stray cracker crumbs on the Battenburg lace tablecloth).

The station was comprised of many levels, each being vital to the overall function, and it housed workers, diplomats, medical personnel and a host of others. Indeed, those that lived on the station saw it as a unique, multispecies city. The very northern tip of the station was an array of communication and other devices. The very south held fuels and other necessary “go juice” storage. In between was a bevy of nooks and crannies containing vital machines, bio-habitat (life support) gases storage, and the gunkworks that provided artificial gravity. These were peppered throughout the space, leaving the rest of it open for actual living or as shipping, receiving and docking bays. Everything else was external, to include the long arms that served as docking anchors for vessels too large to find their way inside.

Inside, there were large sections dedicated to an Earth-like atmosphere; there were smaller sections dedicated to life support for those species that found Earth to be toxic. Only a minor change had to be made to suit the arriving delegates: life support gases in areas dedicated to the MSU would contain less argon and more oxygen to compensate for the sheer amount of MSU species that all seemed to breath an Earth mixture. However, the insides were (as previously stated) a thriving community of workers and diplomats that lived in a somewhat harmonious existence minus the occasional dockworker strike or complaints over holiday displays. Security was provided by the Thade and although they tolerated a bit of the black market, they had little tolerance for petty crimes or felonies. Thus someone had to actually sit the Thade down to explain that not all crime was the same, and that you can’t “space” a rapist. The lesson didn’t go over well (the liberal peacenick was eaten shortly after uttering the words “bite me”) and everyone agreed it would be better to behave like good citizens rather than commit a crime that might earn you a tour of the station’s outsides sans “spacesuit”.

It was worth it. The isolation from all the nonsense of the universe allowed for peace. There were several organizations inhabiting the station that stood for such noble causes. The Multiverse Consortium (also known as The Omniverse Consortium) was one of them. Other, smaller groups included a smattering of individuals concerned over war orphans (as in ‘displaced peoples recovering after their world was detonated’) and those seeking to cure diseases and plagues, or end starvation, or a host of other noble causes. There was even a very small branch office of the The International Red Cross & Peace Corp of Nationstates, Inc, supplied by the Swithwardians.

Those that came to the station retained their citizenships and were held accountable to their nation’s own laws however they had to also follow laws established by the station’s governors. These additional laws helped to keep the peace between species. They were very basic “do no harm” or “golden rule” things that any sensible person could understand, and most of them had to do with respecting personal space, tolerating those species unfamiliar with your customs and culture, and doing nothing to compromise the station itself.

Medical care was provided by the station, as best possible. Food was shipped in but one could also find some good things available in hydroponics. Combustion engines were banned, as was smoking unless the habit was conducted in a specifically designated area. There were two main bars, several restaurants, many shops and a few green parks.

Not that it was all a slice of nirvana. Many projects had been tackled by the lowest bidder, so the artificial gravity could go out at the most inconvenient times. Nations tended to war with one another and those ripples sometimes touched the populaces on the station, giving way to angry outbursts and demonstrations that hampered the morning commute (no one would risk a terrorist act due to the three empires and the Thade propensity for eating/spacing people). There weren’t any public schools and the small population of visiting children were usually bored out of their minds. Imported food was always expensive. To top it off, you were living in an enclosed system far from any habitable rocks, and nothing more than a fish in a tank, and at any given time the life support could fail, or something could explode and buckle entire portions of the station, or a host of other nasty things.

It wouldn't make much sense to at the moment. We've just held our first meeting and been displaced by rebels. We no longer have a safe HQ. We don't even have an official charter yet.

This doesn't mean people can't do a banquet/date thread. Just don't make in an official MSU event. Invite a few players from here and do it for the sake of fun.

No safe HQ or official charter ?

Let's wait until we get a safe, accessible HQ and an official charter.

The HQ will be a space station (or a rogue planet) ?

What about the MT or lower nations ?

How do they access it ?

Will there be a public shuttle ?

I dont think you can really make the claim you have the largest space fleet in the alliance when you know nothing of a good chunk of the alliance. For all you know Anhur has a larger armada then you.

Another question could be Is it large enough for Zhouran's large starships to dock-in?

Also, location of the station please, so my starships can perform transition from one place to another via slipstream space with pinpoint accuracy.

But when you are basically saying you automatically have the biggest and most ships in the entire alliance of over 45 nations in various stages of development. That is poor sportsmenship cuz you know nothing about the other nations so you are more or less declaring yourself omni-potent in raw military strength and industrial output.

and numbers do play a huge role. Ask China or the USSR.

In fact, I would say smaller ships are better than larger ones...

Message from the Greater Democratic Republic of Zhouran

Dear Members of the Commission of Intelligent Species and Ministerial Council of the MSU

It has been decided that the Greater Democratic Republic of Zhouran will kindly leave this alliance. Due to ideological and cultural differences, as well as having different agendas, Zhouran cannot work closely together with member states.

As we leave this alliance, the seat of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the MSU will be open to those interested in filling the position.

We, the people of Zhouran, wish this alliance the best of luck.

Zhao Yi, General Secretary of the People's Party

What about the MT or lower nations ?

How do they access it ?

Will there be a public shuttle ?

Another question could be Is it large enough for Zhouran's large starships to dock-in?

Also, location of the station please, so my starships can perform transition from one place to another via slipstream space with pinpoint accuracy.

The location is "undisclosed" in order for no one to claim "hey, that's where my nation is, in canon, so I control it".

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

You don't have to react to such a degree. You just need to be careful and not make grand claims. Just got to use common sense, there are other FT nations out there, and there is always bound to be someone else larger. There are people out there that RP as controlling entire galaxies or entire dimensions, you just can't automatically say you are the largest out there. Hell I know a nation that RPs as being able to built mobile planets. And I am not talking moon sized death stars I am talking like mega-earth sized constructs.
