So I want to launch a major attack, via Paradrop forces, into the Rebel capital.

This is a diversion, for my spec ops to come in and take the Rebel leader, if he's captured, he's handed over to the Baggnaggians, if he puts up a fight, he dies.

I would like help in BOTH stages, if possible.

Not necessarily. Black Hawk Down was a series of major attacks, all that failed miserably.

The attack would be with the intent of taking the city, (as that would be a serious goal), and we HALO drop Spec Ops in. SAMs are very limited in range, it would not be difficult to go above the SAM

Its more the general scenario rather than anything specific about the mission. Halo drop mitigates much of the SAM element, buts it more the fact we will be fighting in urban warfare against literal hordes of enemies.

Perhaps Market Garden is a better example as our guys will be without support there...

I want a major attack to distract them (as they go to go fight them), and the Spec Ops would enter in stealthily.

Hmm this is a dilemma for me as Capt. Ikusaba is much more suited for the role she literally participated in a dozen of these difficult missions. I am going to need to evac her in exchange for Capt. Asada .

Its more, I don't think the leader is really that important at all... they will likely just get another one. And to me a symbolic victory won't be worth the lives this will cost.

And it will really difficult to take the city without armor/heavier forces, etc

The XR 72 isn't a plane.

Its a massive freaking robot with lots of guns

As for its strength, it can't really absorb a 58 megaton nuclear bomb (I did that to make it sound more deadly )

A Tsar Bomba will literally disinigrate the entire machine.

The best bet for an MT nation is a nuclear weapon aimed at the face of the robot, or slamming a plane at Mach 1 or 2 into it, causing it to fall over, effectively limiting its combat skills.

It can really only take up to a 1-2 Megaton bomb before it take serious damage.

(Lasers don't play into it because MT nations ain't got lasers)
