The only thing is we might need an airstrip if we are landing heavy tanks. Like C 130s can't carry Abrahams or their equivalents, and while C 17s can, they need a proper run way to do so.

I imagine its likely quite impractical trying to get a tank from a carrier main deck to one of those.

You can try of course, but pay RVN the insurance first

You can get them on from Vehicle decks.

Its more I don't think the lifts were designed for that weight, and there isn't really a practical loading bay on the side for them to just drop off onto the craft (usually they are loaded on the landing stuff inside the ship anyway, something a carrier doesn't have)
