The Krytenian Royal Mint yesterday announced the introduction of a new currency, the argental, to replace the previous Credit which had been in place for nearly two centuries.
The new currency, to be introduced on a 1:1 exchange rate and to replace the old Credit by February 1, is being introduced at the behest of the reigning monarch, King Felix. The Credit was introduced after the Student Revolution, which overthrew the First Krytenian Monarchy, and took its name from the issuing of "credit notes" in what was originally designed to be a moneyless society.
The new coins and notes are as follows:
One cupral coin: round steel with cupronickel plating, copper-coloured. Reverse displays Krytenian sestrella emblem.
Five cupral coin: round nonagonal with cupronickel plating, copper-coloured. Reverse displays Lion of Emberton.
Ten cupral coin: round cupronickel with milled edge, gold-coloured. Reverse displays wildcat's head erased and affront (badge of King Felix).
Twenty-five cupral coin: nonagonal cupronickel with milled edge, gold-coloured. Reverse displays Staves of Avidia.
Fifty cupral coin: round cupronickel with partially milled edge, gold-coloured. Reverse displays "Angeline" (feminine personification of Krytenia).
One argental coin: round cupronickel with partially milled edge, silver-coloured. Reverse displays "1 ARGENTAL".
Two argental note: primarily grey ink, partial sight identifier: grey circle. Reverse displays the Guildhall, Avidia
Five argental note: primarily orange ink, partial sight identifier: orange triangle. Reverse displays City College, University of Ousevale.
Ten argental note: primarily green ink, partial sight identifier: green square. Reverse displays Lowess Bridge, Emberton.
Twenty argental note: primarily mauve ink, partial sight identifier: purple pentagon. Reverse displays Memorial of Innocence, Adanac.
Fifty argental note: primarily maroon ink, partial sight indicator: maroon hexagon. Reverse displays Mercia Hall, Bromham.
One hundred argental note: primarily navy ink, partial sight indicator: navy star. Reverse displays Palace of Spring, Diorville.
Obverse of all coins are of King Felix in profile, facing right, along with the legend FELICIUS D G REX KRYTENIA.
Obverse of all notes carry a three-quarter profile of the King.
