Dazjkarmen President Declares Elections Illegal

Postby Dazjkarmen » Tue Dec 15, 2009 5:06 am

President Azkarli Hussein Baroma looked at his closest adviser, his brother, well his brother in law Abu Mazen Soubin and nodded his head. The emirate of Dazjkarmen had just recently seperated from a empire of city-states after having had its vast natural gas and oil resources pilfured for nearly seventy-five years. Dazjkarmen having been so small a city-state in the empire had not been able to have its city-state representative elected Emperor of the empire in nearly sixty-three years even though the Empireship was suppose to transfer from city-state to city-state every two years, Dazjkarmen had been passed over on at least three seperate occassions in the last twenty years years because larger and more powerful city-states had maintained the control of the empire in their hands because of some "imaginary" international or internal threat. Therefore there was no reaction from the empire earlier this year when Baroma held a plesibite to gauge the reaction of the people if he declared independence from the Empire. Of the 310,000 people who took part out of a population of nearly 5 million over 77% of the people voted for independence and on October 1st of the this year the island city-state of Dazjkarmen seperated from the Empire without much fuss as the Empire was locked in an external conflict on the other side of its borders.

Now Soubin said to Baroma;

"It makes perfect sense brother. Why have elections at all where larger territories in this country can influence smaller territories in choosing a leader. If one person is declared leader by a council there is no questioning of that person, no regions upset and no regions passed over like in the Empire."

Baroma;

"How will the international community react?"

Soubin;

"We are a small city-state, if the people of Dazjkarmen do not react strongly to this declaration and no violence occurs I believe we will not have much of a response."

Baroma;

"Okay."

Dazjkarmen National News:

President Azkarli Hussein Baroma announce tonight in a Presidential decree that elections are illegal across the country. No elections for President will occur and that Presidents will rule for life. After their death a national council with a representative from each region in our Emirate will meet and have a selection of candidates to become President. The council will then debate and decide on the next President after consultation. This system is better then having elections and having larger communities dominate smaller communities. No response has been reported by the citizenry or the international community.
