The High Tatras wrote:Currently my nation's main religion is a form of Christianity that takes influences from some of the more radical movements of the Protestant Reformation such as Jan Žižka z Trocnova a Kalicha's Taborites and Thomas Müntzer's Anabaptists, both of whom called for total abolition of the feudal system and wanted to create a classless society. I have occasionally considered replacing Christianity in my nation's canon with "Christian Deism" that was popular with many thinkers during the "Age of Enlightenment". Atheism and any variety of pagan or animist beliefs are completely out of the question. What do you guys think I should do?

Of course, this is ICly top secret. Let me know if anyone else wants to have a character who is a "clockmaker".

They'll likely be charged with some sort of protection of traditional values, too, because that's fun.
But then again I canonized the existence of UFOs which are obviously secret government aircraft too.
It's like the United States government if you believe all those conspiracy theories, if it wasn't in the US but in the Auroyan Empire.
Heck, we have a 'black project' fund which goes into lovely things such as mind control research.

The Conclave of Mages which founded Olwe is similar to this, but pagan instead of Christian.

This nation did start as a Not!Britain. It isn't any longer. Though I'm not actually sure if that's where it comes from. It's probably more the desire to build a nation that's interesting.
To be honest, many of my main characters I do think of as genuinely good people who aim to do good, but of course the system is not shaped by them alone, and they themselves grew up in this system anyway. The ruling party has become complacent with its position over nearly eighty years in power, and they have the Monarchy, a large part of the nobility, and the trade unions on their side. And the party knows exactly how to mobilize the combined influence of these institutions. Would you expect the party in general to behave any differently than how it does?
And yes, outright dictatorships I've decided are a little dull to play. This kind of pseudo-democratic system is much better.

You are all invited to the Union Gala RP. It is Any Tech, but there will possibly be nations present who do not normally do magic and the like in RPs. It should not be an issue, since it's just a gala, like I said. If anybody shows who is normally not the Any Tech type, you can still interact with them. Just be cool about it and do not deliberately antagonize them OOCly.
Also, a vital note here. Violence? Is permitted if IC reasons exist. Just know that the ship is well secured.
