Picture of me on Halloween night. As all of you probably already know, I am fan of (the fictional portrayals of) the Golden Age of Piracy and the swashbuckler genre in general.

The High Tatras wrote:Currently my nation's main religion is a form of Christianity that takes influences from some of the more radical movements of the Protestant Reformation such as Jan Žižka z Trocnova a Kalicha's Taborites and Thomas Müntzer's Anabaptists, both of whom called for total abolition of the feudal system and wanted to create a classless society. I have occasionally considered replacing Christianity in my nation's canon with "Christian Deism" that was popular with many thinkers during the "Age of Enlightenment". Atheism and any variety of pagan or animist beliefs are completely out of the question. What do you guys think I should do?

I am considering the possibility of incorporating Quaker styled unplanned religious meetings into my nation's religion, which currently seems to be a haphazard mix of various Protestant Christian traditions originating in Central and Eastern Europe with a few of the superficial trappings of Eastern Orthodox Christianity (namely the use of the Julian calendar and the three-bar cross).

Basically, these meetings of the Quakers involve lengthy periods of silent reflection until someone feels the need to speak and shares their message to the rest of the group. They are not planned in advance and anyone present can speak. Some meetings are completely silent and others have lots of people speaking and sharing ideas.

I have already incorporated the concept of a "Lovefeast", which is practiced by the Moravian Church/ Unity of the Brethren and the Schwarzenau Brethren, into my nation's religion.

You are all invited to the Union Gala RP. It is Any Tech, but there will possibly be nations present who do not normally do magic and the like in RPs. It should not be an issue, since it's just a gala, like I said. If anybody shows who is normally not the Any Tech type, you can still interact with them. Just be cool about it and do not deliberately antagonize them OOCly.

Also, a vital note here. Violence? Is permitted if IC reasons exist. Just know that the ship is well secured. ;)
If you RP with me, you are choosing to acknowledge The Shift by default. No negotiations.

I have decided that Kazimierz is a member of a non-evil secret society that transcends nationalistic boundaries. It is called the "Knightly Brotherhood of the Clockmakers". They generally have left-wing libertarian leanings, and they are "Christian Deists" who believe in a Newtonian "Clockwork Universe". A number of prominent figures in the "Scientific Revolution" and the "Age of Enlightenment" are members. The organization also later played a role in the American Revolution, the French Revolution, the Mexican Revolution, and the Russian Revolution.

Of course, this is ICly top secret. Let me know if anyone else wants to have a character who is a "clockmaker".

Oddly enough in Mackonia they would find their counterpoints in "The Grand Imperial Esoteric Soldality of the Ebon Flame". A militantly atheist, ultra-individualist, deeply elitist, quasi-knightly group of right-wing extremists founded in the 1940s to defend Mackonia from "Decadent Anglo-American Consumerism", "Bolshevik Degeneracy" and "Barbaric Socialist Pseudo-Nationalism" in the name of 'traditional Mackonian values. They have barely been mentioned ICly but are hinted at being behind the current civil war and will ultimately see the coming Meritocracy as the fulfillment of their mission. They had been waging a loosing war with Mackonia's Stalinist Government but have since gained the upper hand.

So something of the polar opposite of Libertarian Socialist Pseudo-Christians.

I've decided to have a royalist Illuminati in my country, as a secret society only few within the nobility/aristocracy actually know of. They're royalist, not aristocratic, after all.

They'll likely be charged with some sort of protection of traditional values, too, because that's fun.

But then again I canonized the existence of UFOs which are obviously secret government aircraft too.

It's like the United States government if you believe all those conspiracy theories, if it wasn't in the US but in the Auroyan Empire.

Heck, we have a 'black project' fund which goes into lovely things such as mind control research.

From the little I've heard of it I find Auroya's Dictatorship from Ignorance far, far more frightening (and believable) than most outright dictatorships. From the apathy of the populace to the hypocrisy of the ruling party I can see all too many genuine parallels with the U.K in reality.

This nation did start as a Not!Britain. It isn't any longer. Though I'm not actually sure if that's where it comes from. It's probably more the desire to build a nation that's interesting.

To be honest, many of my main characters I do think of as genuinely good people who aim to do good, but of course the system is not shaped by them alone, and they themselves grew up in this system anyway. The ruling party has become complacent with its position over nearly eighty years in power, and they have the Monarchy, a large part of the nobility, and the trade unions on their side. And the party knows exactly how to mobilize the combined influence of these institutions. Would you expect the party in general to behave any differently than how it does?

And yes, outright dictatorships I've decided are a little dull to play. This kind of pseudo-democratic system is much better.

Perhaps not necessarily/completely. There is the 'dictatorship from ignorance' aspect, even though it's not really 'ignorance', it's the fact that the ruling party has been in power for so long that most people either support them or are apathetic to voting since they believe voting against them will change nothing at all.

Alll are welcome. Allllll are welcome. To add onto the violence angle- it is possible and permissible within reason, but this really isn't meant as that kind of RP so unless someone can ICly manage to crack the ten rings of security and there is a really good reason, I'd rather not people do it. Now of course if you have a good reason/story/IC explanation then talk to us and set it up, but nominally I'd recommend not doing so.
