Chelta visits Winovia (Closed)

Royal Palace, Pyrus, Ridley County
His Majesty King Xavier walked the grounds examining the Royal Guard before the arrival of the Cheltish Delegation. Today would be the start of a, hopefully good, relationship between Chelta and Winovia. The King paced back and forth between the rows of guards. His wife walked up and laid her hand on his shoulder, "Everything is going to be fine, this isn't the first time you've hosted foreign diplomats." Xavier frowned,"but its the first time since the unification and first impressions are everything in the diplomatic world." His wife's expression didn't change, "Just relax, you've been planning for this for weeks nothing will go wrong." The King smiled and then kissed his wife and they both walked into the palace.

Pyrus International Airport, Pyrus, Ridley County
Prime Minister Garell Harper stood at near the runway waiting for the Cheltish to arrive. "Call His Majesty and let him know they'll be landing shortly." "Yes sir," said his aid who rushed off to make the phone call.

[Chelta]

The door of the Cheltish government aeroplane opened onto a set of removable stairs. The plane had landed not long ago, and the very important cargo had spent a short while recuperating from their long flight, and getting ready to disembark.

The first to step out was Queen Philippa, looking lovely in a neat light blue dress. She was accompanied by her consort, Hugh Bolingbroke, Duke of Clarence. The royal couple were followed by Cheltish Prime Minister Norman Moncrieffe and his wife, Clare. After them came Foreign Secretary Henry Lauder.

Queen Philippa beamed and approached the man she recognised as the Winovian Prime Minister, Garell Harper. Extending her hand to him, she said, "Prime Minister, I assume? Charmed. How delightful to be here."

The Prime Minister did a slight bow towards the Queen and Duke and shook the Prime Ministers hand. "Yes Your Majesty I am Prime Minister Garell Harper and we are even more delighted to have you here, but time is of the essence as the State Ball will start in a few hours, so we must be going." A Black SUV waited not to far from them, bearing the flags of Winovia and Chelta. Ptome Minister Harper let the Queen in first followed by her husband and Prime minister, he boarded last.

They took the scenic route through the city, on their way to the Palace. They passed the Capitol Complex, Hope Fountain, and the National Cathedral. The finally pulled into the driveway of the palace and the small welcoming ceremony could be seen from their. Prime Minister Harper got out of the car, "His Majesty is already on stage awaiting your arrivals, so follow me." He led them the back way to the stage and they all walked onto the stage. King xavier stood up, "Queen Phillipa, pleasure to meet you, and same to you Prime. Minister Moncrieffe. I wish we had time for formalities but we must be getting started."

The King walked to the podium and the crowd of reporters grew quiet. "I am very humbled and honored to welcome Her Majsty Queen Phillipa of Chelta, The right Honourable Prime Minister Norman Moncrieffe and Mrs. Clare Moncreiffe, and the Duke of Clarence to Winovia. I know that all citizens will show them the uutmost repsect and courtesy if they dome into contact with them." He then motioned for the Queen and Prime Ministers to xome forward to pose for pictures, before reviewing the Royal guard.

Queen Philippa posed with King Xavier and the two Prime Ministers for the cameras, beaming and waving her expertly-honed royal wave. She then accompanied the Royal Guard's commander to inspect the Guard. She had done this many times before since her accession to the throne in 2010, but she always found it interesting inspecting a foreign guard - the uniforms, the decorations, the way the soldiers were trained to hold themselves. She struck up a couple of brief exchanges with a few of the guards as she passed along them, before returning to the podium.

When the queen walked back on the stage, King xavier led the, to the palace and the press started to disperse and prepare themselves for tonights ball. "Your Majesty, Mr. Prime Minister, these will be your Gentleman and Lady in waiting," he said motioning to a man and woman standing near them, "they will show you to your rooms and cater to your every need. You have about an hour to get prepared for the ball, I'll see you there."

King Xavier walked off followed by his own Gentlemen in Waiting and his Aide. The Prime Minister left in the same direction but turned a corner into another hallway where his small suite was. The suite had been converted into the Prime Ministers Suite a few years ago for times like these when the PM didn't have time to go home to get prepared.

The royal couple and the Prime Ministerial couple were directed to their respective rooms by the servants. While the Prime Minister sent theirs away, the Queen asked her Lady-in-Waiting to do her hair up for the reception.

"They seem like nice people, Winovians," Bolingbroke remarked to the Queen, who was sitting in front of a mirror being fussed over by the Lady-in-Waiting. "Very busy, though."

"Busy is one way of putting it. Does the King have a wife? I wonder what she thinks of having only an hour to get ready for a ball!"

"You women and your getting-ready business. Look at me - I've had my shower, I've shaved, I've put on my suit, I'm ready! And I managed it all in only twenty minutes."

"Quiet, you. Who asked you, anyway?"

When both the Queen and the Duke were ready, they made their way down to the ballroom. Norman and Clare Moncrieffe had already arrived.

The Prime Minister stood behind his seat at the head table talking to the Lord Speaker. When he saw the Moncrieffes he quickly ended the converaation and turned his attention to them. "Prime Minister You'll be sitting up here with me," he said motioning to a set of four chairs, "may I say Mrs. mocrieffe you look beautiful and ai'd like to introduce the two of you to my wife Jessica." He took his seat newr the center of the table. "You have probably been to many State Balls, but the way this works is the Royal couples will process down the center aisle then take their seats. After that the Archbishop of Winovia will say a prayer, then the food will be served. Following that the King and Queen Phillipa will make their toast. Then we dance."

King Xavier stood just outside the ballroom waiting formhis wife. He saw Queen Phillipa and the Duke, "Queen Phillipa you look beautiful, we are just waiting on my wife. She's still getting ready after complaining about only having an hour." He shook his head and smiled. Just then his wife Queen Consort Amelia walked down the stairs to where they were. She wore a silver dress with the Elizabeth Tiara and her blue and gold sash that the royals wore to special occasions. "May I introduce my wife, Queen Consort Amelia."

Amelia shook hands with the two. Then a herald announced the two royal couples and they entered and walked down the centeraisle. King Xavier stopped many times to shake hands and speak to the dignitaries before they actually made it to the head table. They took their seats and the Archbishop stood up, "Lets us pray. Father in heaven, we that k you for this gathering of your people. We thank you for the foreign diplomats who we are here to honor. Father we thank you for letting us be able to be here with breath in our bodies. Now we ask that you extend your mighty hand and bless the food that we are about to consume. In Jesus name, Amen."

The Archbishop took his seat and the waiters came out of the kitchen with the food. "I hope you do not have a problem woth eating meat," King Xavier said to Queen Phillipa, "our chefs have prepared us steak woth steamed asparagus and roasted potatoes."

[Chelta]

"I adore this dinner, Your Majesty," said Philippa. "I've seldom tasted anything that can rival Cheltish beef, but this could just about do it."

"She's not wrong," piped up Hugh Bolingbroke.

"I am interested, Your Majesty," said Philippa. "Chelta does not usually have much to do with this part of the world. How is Winovia faring these days? For example, Mr Moncrieffe recently visited Great Britain, where the British are recovering from a terribly devastating war against communist insurgents, and they are undergoing a really transformative period at the moment."

Meanwhile, Norman Moncrieffe was striking up a conversation with the Winovian Prime Minister.

"Prime Minister, I'm wondering, what prompted the Winovian government to want to begin relations with Chelta? This invitation really came out of the blue for us; after all, Chelta has few meaningful links with Earth. That's not to say we wouldn't jump at the chance to have stronger ties with friendly like-minded nations on Earth, like Winovia."

[Winovia]

"Well we recently went through a unification process, which united our kingdom of Windport with the Kingdom of Genovia. The proces ended a couple of years ago and has proven to be very progressive. The only problem is a few Genovian Nationalist Groups that have been causing problems. How are things in Chelt?"

Not to far down the table the Prime Ministers were conversing. "After the unification process ended so did our isolation. Our Intelligence Service spent the last 2 years compiling a list of possible allies and Chelta was among the top contenders. I wa surprised that you accepted our invitation, though."

[Chelta]

"Things in Chelta have been relatively good. Fourteen years ago we came out of a 9-year-long war, and since then we have been going through an optimistic period of recovery and growth. Although we have recently had troubles with religious conflict in our region.

"Well, that was a beautiful dinner, Your Majesty. Do give my compliments to the chef."

[Winovia]

"I will do so as soon as possible, but now it is time for the toast as per Winovian customs the guest always goes first. Whenever you are ready Your Majesty."

[Chelta]

(OOC: Sorry it took me so long to reply, I've been out of the country since the 29th and haven't been able to RP)

Philippa stood, and all eyes were upon her. There was anticipation upon every countenance.

"Your Majesty,

"I cannot say how honoured I am that you have invited me to your country. It is my first time to Winovia - as great and charming a land as any - and I can say with sincerity how fond I am growing of your nation. Although, admittedly, I have seen little of the planet Earth, I can confidently say that Winovia is this world's best-kept secret. It is a shame that Cheltish people know so little about Winovia, although hopefully we can say that that is about to change.

"You see, sir, Chelta is located on a planet called Torras; we in Chelta generally have little to do with the nations and affairs of other worlds, but, of course, the ever-modernising world, with new technologies and new, faster, better means of communication and travel, means that the peoples of even the most distant worlds and lands are inevitably going to be increasingly interconnected. And that is a good thing, I think. Chelta has always, in her history, striven to create a more interconnected world - in our own world, and, now, beyond. Interconnectedness builds international friendships and relationships. It builds trust and amity between the peoples of different places. It encourages trade, co-operation and appreciation. It creates peace and harmony in place of strife and war. It makes everyone involved better off in more ways than we can count.

"So, from one prince to another, I say 'thank you', to Your Majesty. Thank you for inviting me and my assorted companions to Winovia, and for initiating what shall surely prove to be a close, beneficial and lasting relationship between our two countries.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would ask you to join me in raising your glasses to the health, happiness and prosperity of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen, and, of course, to a new friendship."

Xavier smiled and drunk his glass, and while the waiters brought out more champagne he stood.

"It is an honor to have Her Majesty Queen Philippa and The Right Honorable Prime Minister here with us on tonight. Today is a great day for both of our nation, for it marks a day in history. Today is the first day that either of our nations have had contact with each other, in all of time. The great nation of Chelta will be a great ally to Winovia, we will protect each other in times of war, we will aid each other in times of crisis, and we will serve each other in times of emergency. Together we will prevail and together we will succeed. Join me in raising your glasses to the prosperity of Chelta and the long prosperous reign of Queen Philippa."

[Chelta]

"Hear, hear," Philippa raised her glass to King Xavier. "Couldn't have said it better myself."
