Sunrisian–New Vesvaian–Creperian Naval Drill Held In New Vesvai, Southern Dogmana

State Of Emergency: Day 11 (Going Into Day 12 By CST)

Image

Image

During the day of joint army military exercises and war games in New Vesvai, involving the armies of New Vesvai, the host country, and Sunrisia, when both countries primarily trained for land defense of New Vesvai against an external attack or invasion, as well as – humanitarian missions, emergency response, extradition of physical persons among other things, there was also an announcement made that there would be a follow-up military exercise soon after, which was already planned by New Vesvai and Sunrisia. That exercise would be a naval drill. Similar to how the army joint military exercises and war games were restricted only to armies/land forces, the naval drill would be restricted to navies and take place only on the maritime front.

That naval exercise has begun today in New Vesvai, its’ territorial waters, as well as southern Dogmana and the international waters around the area. New Vesvai and Sunrisia are the obvious participants, who had pre-planned the naval drill, however, a third country had been invited to participate in order to play a very important role in the drill. Its’ participation was considered in advance and the invitation was extended once New Vesvai and Sunrisia approached closer to the day of the actual exercise. That third participating country is Creperia, a shared neighbor of New Vesvai and Sunrisia. With all sides agreeing and planning out everything, the trilateral exercise was started today. Including the “Blazing Hail” military exercise, this is the third military drill that New Vesvai and Sunrisia are participating in together and a second one that New Vesvai and Creperia are participating in, to Sunrisian knowledge.

Unlike the joint army military exercises and war games between New Vesvai in Sunrisia, which, as mentioned before, had several scenarios played out, while putting one of them – the land defense of New Vesvai above others, this trilateral naval exercise is only focused on a single particular simulated scenario and nothing else. The primary scenario that the involved countries are training for is – the naval defense of New Vesvai, including of its’ territorial waters and land territory as well, which can also be attacked by an aggressor from sea. There is no ruling out that even aerial targets in New Vesvai could be struck with precise naval attacks and strikes in the direction of New Vesvai.

According to new Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Rêbór Acértâ, who, together with new National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla, is observing this naval drill on Sunrisian behalf, making this their second venture together and individually into observing a military exercise abroad, which involves the Sunrisian forces, all 3 countries have a particular role here, which they do not exit from. Even though the Sunrisian side likes to propose experimentation and different options, especially with those drills it proposes to hold with allies, this time it is not the case. Minister of Security Rêbór Acértâ said that New Vesvai is playing a country under attack or invasion by a foreign navy, Sunrisia is playing an ally, who comes to the defense of New Vesvai and has its’ navy fight the aggressor alongside the navy of New Vesvai, while Creperia is playing the aggressor, who is invading New Vesvai using its’ navy. Minister Acértâ said that the weather conditions for the exercise have been good and he has liked what he sees so far. National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla has backed up his cabinet colleague’s statement.

North and South Baggnagia swap prisoners at the border

Image

NORTH BAGGNAGIA/SOUTH BAGGNAGIA BORDER – The Military Council of South Baggnagia brings us wonderful news. Diplomats of North and South Baggnagia were to negotiate a prisoner swap yesterday. Today the formal exchange between the nations happened at the border. The prisoners from both sides crossed over at the same time through Joint Security Area checkpoints. The South Baggnagian Protection Army and the North Baggnagian Holy Army obviously presided over the process and their fingers remain on rifle triggers. But the diplomats who negotiated the swap were still at the forefront this was meant to be a peaceful swap. Chairman of the Military Council: Lt. General Radoslav Meier was there. He said that North Baggnagian leader Marshal Jan Tillich was also there surprisingly. The people present at the swap said that Lt. General Radoslav Meier and Marshal Jan Tillich looked each other in the eye for the first time but did not say or gesture anything. They remained stone-faced and where there to see the exchange happened. South Baggnagian diplomats commented that they too were surprised to see North Baggnagian leader Marshal Jan Tillich there. They only thought that North Baggnagian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jakub Gottschalk would be there. He led the negotiation with South Baggnagian diplomats on North Baggnagian behalf. Obviously Foreign Minister Gottschalk was there too by the side of Marshal Jan Tillich.

South Baggnagian prisoners slowly walked from the North Baggnagian side of the border over to the South Baggnagian side through the Joint Security Area checkpoint. North Baggnagian prisoners did the same and at the exactly same time. For a maximum safe process all of their steps were synchronized. Lt. General Radoslav Meier welcomed South Baggnagian prisoners back home together with a gigantic crowd of civilians that were there for support. There were cheers, tears of joy, hugs, kisses and smiles. The diplomats declared that South Baggnagia has managed to return a remarkable 27 people in this single swap. These were all South Baggnagian prisoners that were kept in North Baggnagia. All abducted under different circumstances at different times. Some abducted alone and some in packs. Among them were a lot of military, police, self-admitted spies, journalists, doctors, teachers, fishermen, athletes, musicians, actors, cooks, fashion designers, photographers, tour-guides, painters and other specialties. There were many people who could “offer” their talents to the North Baggnagian state or were seen as threats to the leadership and that is why they were abducted. Lt. General Radoslav Meier promised that they were now back home in safety and that nothing would ever happen to them again. The popularity of the military government immediately increased for being the only South Baggnagian leadership that was assertive enough to bring this prisoner swap to reality. Today is a good day for South Baggnagia.

50 Year anniversary of Ilanea's open door policy!

Today December of 2019 marks the passing of the Foreign authorization act which allowed for interaction with the outside world. This was proposed by the third president of Ilanea in an attempt to modernize Ilanea. Without the way of life of Ilaneans and many of the Ilaneans themselves would simply not exist. Modern technologies such as refrigeration, electrical power, forms of communication such as television and radio that could send information over vast distances, automotive vehicles that revolutionized agriculture and transportation, medicine was improved on with the discovery of antibiotics. This technology was developed in other countries and could not be used by Ilaneans until 1969 preventing it from leaving it's traditional economy based around it's natural resources. This also led to the revitalization of the nation's military and a boom to Ilanea's markets. Without it the nation would not have been able to industrialize or develop.

The nation also opened it's doors to tourists and since has celebrated the anniversary with fireworks and festival. Parades and concerts commonly are held during the night time, it is not a major holiday but it is a day off and a day to go out for all Ilaneans. Many restaurants and venues especially try to cater to tourists during this time. Not all are happy with this modernization with some seeing it as an celebration of the erosion on traditional Ilanean culture and religion

It Has Begun: Vesvai Hosts Largest Multinational War Games In National History

15 militaries from around the world stand on Vesvai’s land today as the Dominion prepares to host the largest ever war games in its national history. 14 foreign militaries from Vesvai’s various allies had their forces arrive on the island to join the Royal Vesvaian Security Forces in these epic war games. It feels like an event because of its scope, impact and how long it was planned for. The Dominion of Vesvai has been preparing for this event for some time and now it is finally here. Vesvai has fellow Rhodeve Commonwealth allies participating, ROVAA allies participating and also aspiring Rhodeve Commonwealth members like Ouraicon. There are also allies who are not in either organization but they’re still nations who have a relationship with Vesvai. It might be an individual developing relationship or a relationship that is just starting out. Vesvai’s foreign relations are growing in diplomatic, economic and military areas. The positive expansion of ties continues.

Nations participating in the multinational war games hosted by Vesvai.

In Alphabetical Order:

  • Belantica.

  • Englean Kaiserreich.

  • Eubatu.

  • Ispanza.

  • Makenzie and Athabaska.

  • Molenston.

  • North Rukonia.

  • Oblaren.

  • Ouraicon.

  • Rezua.

  • Rhodevus.

  • Romaikos.

  • Shastara.

  • Vesvai (Host).

  • Weypel.

Regrettably Aznazia will not be participating but was invited. But there is no grudge held and the allied relationship is still valued and preserved. Layfet will not be participating either but Vesvai and Layfet had just finished smaller dual Vesvai–Layfet war games very recently. Those war games were unrelated to these large multinational war games but Vesvai’s government has still positively interpreted them as an alternative that happened. The Englean Kaiserreich and Romaikos are two participating nations outside of ROVAA or the Commonwealth whom Vesvai is having a progressive personal relationship with. Ouraicon is not placed in this category because the nation is on an active path towards Rhodeve Commonwealth membership so it might as well be counted as an ally within the Commonwealth already. Vesvai and the Englean Kaiserreich had some minor interactions before. The Kaiserreich has voiced support on multiple occasions for Vesvai in the Dominion’s various confrontations with Sunrisia. The Kaiserreich has been an active initiator in advancing the relationship further and Vesvai definitely plans to reciprocate. The invitation for the Kaiserreich to participate in the war games was the first big step in that direction. Romaikos is a nation that Vesvai has been least acquainted with and with whom Vesvai’s has least common bonds through membership in common organizations or other type of relations. But there is an interest to develop that relationship further too. Like with the Kaiserreich the participation of Romaikos in the war games is seen as the first big step in that direction. All the remaining participants are Vesvai’s classical allies. Oblaren could be given a special mention for being seen as a fraternal nation by Vesvai with similar history and cultural similarities. But it is also a nation that Vesvai has been interested in creating a confederated union state with.

Vesvai’s Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit is a leading member of a government delegation welcoming the arriving foreign guests militaries from allied nations. He was the one who could present specific numbers or types of forces to the journalists to paint an approximate picture of whom Vesvai would be hosting:

“[J]ust to give you some stats. We will be having 6 warships, 1,000 ground troops, and about 100 aircraft from Belantica. The Kaiserliche-Marine 3rd Fleet, and the Kaiserliche-Heer's 4th Army from the Englean Kaiserreich will be here. There’s going to be a carrier group and some marines from Shastara too. And that’s just from three of fourteen nations that will be joining our very own Royal Vesvaian Security Forces.”

The heads of the government delegation welcoming the arriving allied forces were obviously Vesvai’s Governor-General Andrew Gaileta and Vesvai’s Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal. The forefront host was obviously PM Jonathan Mollisal as the head of government while Governor-General Andrew Gaileta played a more secondary and accompanying role. PM Jonathan Mollisal welcomed the arriving troops with a proud speech.

“[I] welcome our guests to the Dominion of Vesvai. Thank you for being here and I want you to feel on Vesvai’s land like you feel at home even if you’ve come from another part of the world. This means a lot to our nation that you are all here. It is regrettable that not all allies we invited could make it but there’s obviously no harsh feelings. There will be another time. Let’s focus on what we have here today.

I’m happy that this list of nations, the classic allies of Vesvai together with a few new additions, can once again gather in Vesvai on a happier occasion. The last time we had representatives from this list of nations be here with us was on a sadder occasion. Government officials and diplomats from our allied nations came here to grieve with us. The occasion was the State Funeral of Vesvai’s former Prime Minister and Member of Parliament Matthew Praeterit. The man was a patriot who has unfortunately left us too early by taking his own life at age 49. We were left with a spiritual void that we hadn’t filled since. Most nations here today were here with our people to grieve, pay respects and help us escort Mr. Praeterit into his final journey with a final goodbye. This was also the first event that brought together this list of nations on Vesvai’s soil for the first time. We had been in the same alliances and organizations together but it was the first time we had genuinely interacted with each other. Their presence showed that the relationship was not just a formality but a genuine one. We understood that we care for each other as allies. It was sad that we could not come together in Vesvai for a happier occasion for the very first time but that’s just the kind of man that Mr. Praeterit was. He may have left but he brought us together and gave us a new and hopeful perspective.

Now we gather together once more and there are more of us this time. And it’s not just ROVAA members and Rhodeve Commonwealth members. We have our new friends with us here today too. And this is a happier occasion. It is of military nature but I see no shame in celebrating this day. These multinational war games to us is an equivalent of a family reunion. That family is a family of nations and our bond keeps getting stronger. We feel like never before have been as united as now. Never before were we filled with so much unity. So if there are someone out there who think that our alliances don’t mean anything else than just being symbolic well they have been proved wrong. They are seeing a living example that we are together in today’s global climate. Obviously you being here means a lot of great things for Vesvai which includes making us feel like we belong somewhere as a nation in this world and you also makes us feel safe. I have no red tape to cut but I declare the beginning of these war games. They are finally here.”

Vesvai’s government says that the war games will be open to the militaries of all participating nations in their entirety. The armies, the navies, the air forces, the marine corps, the coast guard, the special forces, the police, the National Guard and anything else will be welcome to make Vesvai their ultimate training ground. Even if there had been previously declared numbers of what kind of forces would be arriving in Vesvai there’s no glass ceiling. Vesvai’s Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit said that the nation is open to more forces being sent today, tomorrow, the day after or at any time. There’s also no timetable that has been presented so it’s unclear how long the war games would last. What’s known is this: they are meant to leave an impact and be written into Vesvai’s history books.

MPs enter Christmas recess as Layfet debate ends later than expected

ARTWINGEN -- Even before the Speaker of the Lindian parliament had opened today's session of parliament expectations were that MPs would be doing overtime. While the plenary sessions normally end around 5 PM, the individual votes and many back-and-forths between MPs and the Cabinet only made it so that the meeting was closed at 8PM today. The topic of the meeting were the negotiations between the VU, Layfet, Lindenholt and several other VU members that have been ongoing for the past weeks.

VU-member Layfet, whose debts numbered 1.1 trillion NSD last week - three times the size of the island nation's economy - has now managed to bring this number down to a 'mere' 900 billion NSD through negotiations, deals and reportedly through the goodwill of foreign governments such as Rezua, Libria and Kiez. While at first this could be considered a positive signal, decreasing the island nation's debt significantly, it has also put question marks in the heads of Lindian MPs and MVPs. They question the Rezuan, Kiezan and to a certain extent Libririan government's reported charitability and can't help but wonder about what Layfet had to offer them in order to have part of their debt forgiven.

VOA MP Jan Brakels' statement could very well sum up the Lindian legislature's opinion on the current situation:

Mr Speaker, free money does not exist. No sensible government will look at the nation such as Layfet and simply forgive debt for the sake of charity. If they did so, then I'd argue Lindenholt should also approach these government's to pay off our debt for us as well! It seems like a good deal to me. Correction: a deal too good to be true.

Brakels, considered the crown prince of the party by many, proceeded to table a motion for the government to make Layfet disclose the specifics of the deals they made with non-VU states concerning their debt. Brakels cited the prime reasoning for this to be Lindenholt's national security. Simultaneously, he tabled a motion for the government to research the possibility of purchasing Layfet's outlying territories in the Divergian Ocean. Both motions were voted on this afternoon and accepted by a majority of the parliament.

Sunrisian And Englean Navies Clash In The International Waters To The South Of Corentia

State Of Emergency: Day 14 (Second Extension, Until The 24th)

LIVE BROADCAST

The Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and the Englean Kaiserreich have had their first official direct military confrontation, at least one that is known to the public. The navies of both countries had an armed skirmish in the international waters to the south of Corentia. Getting directly to what everyone wants to find out, there have fortunately been no causalities reported on either side. No navy officers on both sides had been taken captive either during the clash. Therefore, no human loss of either capacity has been faced. Injuries, however, are a possibility. As for the warships, which is a secondary concern, they obviously may have taken damage and it is not ruled out that some may have even been sunk, while the crew evacuated.

Currently, we only have access to the Sunrisian side of the story, as the officers of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) gave an account of what had happened. According to them, the Sunrisian Naval Forces, specifically the warships patrolling in the international waters, had responded to what they perceived as an attempt by Englean warships in the area, to attempt a passage through a strait between Edereon and Daredland, a strategically-important area for Western Corentian security, which Sunrisia has committed to help protect. The Sunrisian ships went to confront the Englean ships with an attempt to escort them away from the strait and convince them to return to their regular routes in the international waters, without any sort of “over-extensive” trespass. What transpired from that point on was not specified, but there were some ships ramming into each other and later fire was opened. The Sunrisian navy officers say that the Englean side provoked the confrontation. They have also put forth a theory that apart from testing Sunrisian in the strait, the Englean Kaiserreich may have also been planning to look for routes into Sunrisia on how to possibly open supply lines to the militants, which the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) is currently fighting in Operation Solar Wind. The Sunrisian intelligence services had already pointed out how there has been apparent sympathizing for the militants taking place in the Englean Kaiserreich, specifically towards the Sunrisian Theocrat and Monarchist Corps (STMC) militant group. Concerning the naval clash, things seem to have stabilized now and everyone has returned to their previous positions.

Without giving it a second thought and without calling up yet another National Defense Council meeting in a short while, President Fórî Apstérâ ordered a second extension of the State of Emergency, which was supposed to end yesterday. The President said that he was extending it to December 24th. Some national security advisors in the administration proposed the idea of imposing Martial Law as well, but President Apstérâ said that it would be “overkill” to impose Martial Law on top of the existing State of Emergency, which is basically the softer version of the former. The President motivated the extension of the State of Emergency not only because of Sunrisian–Englean naval skirmish, but also because of the continued fight against the New Sunrisian Republican Army (NSRA) and the Sunrisian Theocrat and Monarchist Corps (STMC) militant groups within the nation’s borders, as well as because of the large international war games currently taking place in Vesvai. The commander-in-chief said the situation required the military to be in “readiness mode, but without declaring Martial Law or going into a different “DEFCON” level. President Apstérâ also considers deploying the Sunrisian Naval Forces around Sunrisian shores, as another measure of increasing national security behind a “naval wall” of sorts, as well as to prevent the aforementioned alleged plans by the Englean Kaiserreich to possibly open supply routes for the militant groups inside Sunrisia. At the moment, the larger concentration of the navy is only along the southwestern coastline of Sunrisia, which was originally deployed after Rhodevus and several of their allies, including the Englean Kaiserreich, had deployed additionally warships to Ispanza, after Sunrisia declared its’ “Maritime Wall” project of building artificial islands in order to physically close itself off from Ispanza, a perceived “proving ground” or “military polygon” for rival foreign powers at Sunrisia’s side. However, President Apstérâ hinted that this naval patrol presence may now proportionally be expanded to include the entire Sunrisian coastline, which will be a stretch for the navy, but a necessary one for national security, if the President decides to go through with it.

Avér Inîmīcâ, Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) of Sunrisia, who may potentially be leaving office because new Minister of International Relations Nívâl Rêtráctăs talked about a wish to appoint new special envoys, issued a statement on the skirmish between the Sunrisian and Englean navies:

As soon as the Englean leadership felt that Sunrisia has been dealing with a political crisis and problems with militant groups, which has perpetuated instability for us, they immediately went on a patrol mode. The Englean Kaiserreich started pushing forward in order to see how far it can get, while we are distracted by something else. This naval skirmish is evidence of that. The Englean side is messing with the current strategic balance in Corentia or at least the current state of things in Corentia, which is very dangerous. The metaphor of a “powder keg” or a “mine field” has been used before and it once again is applicable here. That is what the Englean leadership is playing with. We have seen Englean warships increasing their presence and activity around Western Corentia and there will need to be a response to that. We had not appropriately reacted to this under previous administrations, which I have also worked in, so I will take the fall, even though my functions are diplomatic and not military. Sunrisian warships have been active in Eastern Corentia only in relation to our ongoing ACREFOR peacekeeping and recovery mission in West Zilveren Berg. Nothing more than that. However, if the Englean Kaiserreich, other ACIS member states or any other adversary resume incursion or attempts to tip the scale in their favor, we may have to act accordingly to restore strategic balance. Therefore, Sunrisian warships may have to move into Eastern Corentia, remaining in international waters, simply to have a larger presence as a “mirror response” to the larger Englean presence. If the Englean Kaiserreich pulls back, we might not have to do that, but if they do not, we might have to.

The New Emperor

December 10th, 2019
Constantinople—The Old Emperor, Constantine XVII, has recently passed away from an illness caught during his time in the DCZR. The Empire mourned at his death as his funeral was broadcasted across the world. Constantine XVII was an Emperor truly popular among the Rhomaion people, making his death ever so more sorrowful. Coronated in 1977, his reign had marked the continued rise of Romaikos on the world stage. The economy revived from recession and grew at an immense rate, bringing several urban areas on par with first-world living standards. His expansion of Imperial welfare services provided several benefits to the lower classes of the Empire. Though to outsiders, he was seen as having ruled with an iron fist with decreased political freedoms and impositions of internet censorship. Geopolitically, he was known for increasingly isolating the Empire from VU trade through "strategic protectionism." Regardless, the long reign of Constantine XVII largely defined the Empire's place in today's world.

The new Emperor, Constantine XVIII, arose as the 2nd-born son of the last Emperor, continuing the Daskalatos dynasty. Immediately apparent upon the new Emperor's reign is an increased diplomatic effort, especially towards western Ventismar. This contrasts with the suspected negative attitude the last Emperor had toeards the VU. Moreover, he appears to be somewhat of a reformist, upsetting more conservative political forces that held strong influence over all previous post-war Emperors. Perhaps his most controversial move was the granting of autonomy to the Bulgars, known for their sentiments of separatism that were made more apparent in recent times with a slowing economy. While he has claimed it would pacify potential uprisings, others worry that their increased autonomy will further incentivize dissonance, which was especially present in the Bulgar riots of 2006. Economically, the Emperor appears to be pursuing a path of economic liberalism and a relaxation of Imperial economic control. His recent actions included privatization, deregulation, and a relaxation of protectionist trade barriers, upsetting conservative forces once again. Additionally, foreign investments have been significantly encouraged. Under his reign so far, the economy has somewhat recovered from a period of stagnation beginning in 2019. Opponents have attempted to discredit this from the Emperor's change in economic policy.

The legitimacy of the Emperor appears to be somewhat weak at the moment, especially as his methods mark significant departures from the last Emperor. Though his time in office has been so for less than 5 months. Predictions and rumors about the Emperor continue to be made.

Meanwhile, a growing opposition to the Emperor is stirring in the Imperial Council, led by a young man of 19 years old, naming himself "Basil." His recent bold (and risky) condemnation of the Emperor's negotiations with Bulgar separatists has made him an overnight celebrity, drawing strong appraisal from those suspicious of the new Emperor. Constantine has found it difficult to suppress Basil soley due to his popularity. Among youth audiences, memes of the situation continue to circulate.

It is uncertain what the Emperor's next actions are going to be, both domestically and internationally. Until then, stay tuned...

THIS JUST IN: After Deliberations, Joint Chiefs of Staff & Richtofen Administration Order Withdrawl From Demitor
Image

After four days of deliberations between members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Defense Committee, and the Richtofen Administration. News of the future of Kiezan activity in the former nation of Demitor has been made available to the public, with the Richtofen Administration in conjunction with the Joint Chiefs of Staff ordering a full withdrawal of all forces stationed in Demitor effective as of 12:45 PM Imperial Standard Time. "After observations of the situation currently taking place within the National Union of Demitor, the Richtofen Administration in conjunction with the Joint Chiefs of Staff has determined the occupation of Demitor as an unnecessary risk to the safety of military personnel currently stationed there and have ordered the immediate withdrawal of all assets under the Kiezan Armed Forces from all territories within the National Union of Demitor." Stated General Marius Victstein, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a special press briefing just moments ago.

While news of this announcement does not come as a shock to most it did nonetheless generate in a celebratory mood to descend down upon most of the country, with many spontaneous celebrations to erupt in most major cities, most particularly in the capital of Reisaü, where a large group of supporters has been seen amassing outside the gates of Parliament with some lighting candles of solidarity for the lives lost throughout the four-month conflict between the two nations. "This is a great day for the people of Kiez." stated local resident Kaleb Lexer as he arrived in the capital to join in the sudden festivities "We've made certain that the death of not only the Chancellor but also those who fought in the name of justice will never be forgotten." This perspective has been shared by most throughout the nation, who have applauded the decisive action of the Richtofen Administration to pull troops out of the wartorn Demitor.

"To all of the brave men and women serving abroad in the nation of Demitor, allow me to say that not only myself but the entire nation owe all of you a great debt." Premier Richtofen stated to reporters during a Press Briefing minutes after the withdrawal notice had been sent out "When at a time that our nation needed the mighty sword and shield of the Military to act as our bringer of justice did you hear the call and respond accordingly, upholding your vow to protect the nation that we all inhabit. Never before in my life have I felt more proud of the unity that binds our nation, the great patriotism that guides us through the shadows of uncertainty and the depths of darkness. To each and every soldier, airman, and sailor who have heeded the call of our nation, I salute your unwavering bravery and commitment to this nation and rest assued that all of you will be given the heroes welcome you so rightly deserve when you return home. Gott segne unsere Landsleute, und Gott segne unser vaterland."

While Warhawks within the Richtofen Administration was quick to convey their disappointment in the withdrawal, most have nonetheless celebrated the outcome of the war as a definitive victory for both the Socialist Republic of Kiez and the nation of Calva. From Reisau Local News, this is Gabriel Frisch, back to you in the studio.

In Other News:

  • Premier Richtofen dismisses skepticism from Lindian Legislature: "Despite the recent straining our diplomatic relations, Kiez and Layfet still share a close history with each other as defined by our struggles against the Grey Wolf Insurgency, a close history that, despite the skepticism of the Kingdom of Lindenholt is something that most Kiezans, including myself, hold dear even to this very day."

  • Reports from the War of Demitor point towards the suspected involvement of the renowned Wolfsangel Squadron, an elite fighter squadron comprised of Kiezan Aces in securing air superiority over the skies of the western portion of the Strait of Demitor.

  • THIS JUST IN: Committee To Restore National Confidence issues a statement announcing for Special Elections to commence on the 10th of January in 2020.

  • THIS JUST IN: Aegis Aeronautics, the leading aerospace manufacturing company in Kiez to unveil new aircraft by February of 2020.

Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) Declares Defeat Of NSRA And STMC Militant Groups: Operation Solar Wind Ends

State Of Emergency: Day 15

Right side: Member of civilian volunteer forces, who helped the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) fight the New Sunrisian Republican Army (NSRA) and the Sunrisian Theocrat and Monarchist Corps (STMC) militant groups.

Victory has been achieved by Sunrisia. The Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) has declared the defeat of the 2 militant groups – the New Sunrisian Republican Army (NSRA) and the Sunrisian Theocrat and Monarchist Corps (STMC). Along with their defeat, the military has also declared the formal disbanding of both militant groups, even though it is not ruled out that there might be radicals trying to continue their work sometime in the future. However, the military and intelligence services will work together carefully and more intensely to not allow that to happen. The defeat of NSRA and STMC also means the end of the militant insurgency and the conclusion of Operation Solar Wind. The military commanders stated that the militants had put up a good fight and there was a decent duration of time during which the armed forces had to struggle to defeat both militant groups that has surfaced. Nevertheless, in the end, they were too underprepared and under-resourced in order to hold up against the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) long enough. Along with the military, victory over NSRA and the militant groups is being claimed by the armed civilian volunteer forces, who had formed to help out the Sunrisian Military in fighting the militants in various regions. Essentially, armed civilian volunteer groups formed to defend their communities from the militants, until the Sunrisian armed forces would arrive to purge the terrorists out of their respective regions. In the end, those civilian volunteers groups ended up helping the military beyond their respective homes. The Sunrisian government saw no problem in this “semi-vigilante” activity and the civilian volunteer groups are now being praised as national heroes for their dedication to the country outside of being part of state institutions.

With the defeat of NSRA and STMC, not only is stability expected to return to Sunrisia, but also the general resources of the military, defense and security can be focused fully on external threats to Sunrisia and its’ allies. Weeks ago, the population was on the streets in protest, but now, many Sunrisians across the country are going out into the streets not to protest the system, but to celebrate victory over the militants. Citizens have been seen on the streets, launching fireworks in celebration. This has been seen as a risky move, seeing to how the State of Emergency is still in motion and the Sunrisian Military can react negatively to sounds that would remind them of shooting, such as firework sounds. However, the citizens have not been afraid to go out in order to show their positive emotions and celebrate this wonderful day for the country. The increased military watch over public order in the middle of the State of Emergency, has not stopped Nationalists and Neo-Isolationists from going out into marches of their own, during which they carried flags of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, while burning the flags used by the NSRA and STMC. Even though the 2 flags are historical symbols of the Sunrisian nation, to the desecrators they have now become symbols of 2 defeated terrorist groups, as well as ideologies that the Nationalists and Neo-Isolationists do not subscribe to.

The commander-in-chief President Fórî Apstérâ is expected to give a televised address, confirming the victory of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) over the NSRA and STMC militant groups. In the address, the President will also be expected to call for national unity after the country had gone through a period of internal strife and confrontation, before mutual domestic and foreign enemies forced the Sunrisians to come together again. With the defeat of NSRA and STMC, chances have increased that there would not be a third extension of the State of Emergency in Sunrisia after and in-between the Holidays.

  • President Fórî Apstérâ orders the proportional deployment of the Sunrisian Naval Forces along the entire coastline of Sunrisia.

UNIONISTS ATTACK PENAT FOR REFUSING TO PAY OUTRAGEOUS SALARIES

Natsem City - Members of the Sindicato Natse de Trabajadores Petroleros gathered outside the Petroleum Natsem (PENAT) headquarters on Monday to attack the corporation for not giving them the outrageous salary of N$275 (NS$14.52) per hour. Natsem CEO Gabriela Arrabal stated in a press conference earlier this week:
We simply cannot afford to pay them over N$50 an hour. If they want more pay they can work more hours, but striking will not help their case. From this point forward, any worker found to be protesting instead of working will be given a week-long dock in pay.
Despite the warning, many Unionists persisted to protest outside of the corporate HQ. On Thursday, the protests grew in strength, as radical socialists from the Partido Revolucionario Popular de Natsem (PRPN) joined the Unionists. Some PRPN members brought weapons such as crowbars, wrenches and clubs. Riot police were deployed to keep the peace and dispatch any violent protesters or protesters attempting to incite violence. A resolution was reached on Saturday, with PENAT agreeing to raise wages to a very high N$200 (NS$10.56)

OIL WORKERS TAKE ACTION AGAINST UNLIVABLE WAGES

Natsem City - Oil Workers en el Sindicato Natse de Trabajadores Petroleros went on strike Monday, rallying at the Petroleum Natsem (PENAT) corporate headquarters to protest the unlivable salary of N$50 (NS$2.50) per hour of work. They came unarmed, only brandishing signs and megaphones. They were met with corporate anti-strike police armed with pepper spray and billy clubs. The organiser of the strike and senior PRPN officer, Camarado Sancho Marcos gave this statement to the press:
We refuse to be treated in this way. PENAT oil workers already work over 40 hours a week drilling for oil in the unbearable heat of the Desierto de Polvo, but we also need to feed, clothe and give shelter to our wives and children. A N$50 is not sufficient to do these things, we need at least a wage of N$275 to live. If PENAT does not accede to our demands, we will be forced to resort to more drastic measures.
By Wednesday, PENAT had still not agreed to raise the wages of oil workers. Workers in the Trabajadores Petroleros de Natsem, Sindicato Nacional del Petróleo and the Sindicato de Petróleo de Natsem joined the strike, giving it a total strength of 38,215 worker, or 28% of all PENAT employees. On Thursday, 1300 members of the Partido Revolucionario Popular de Natsem arrived to assist and protect the workers against corporate scabs. PENAT responded by calling in Federal riot police to protect the already well-protected corporate HQ. A deal was made Saturday, with PENAT agreeing to raise wages to the still low N$200 (NS$10.56).

Commiss Army Chief of Staff Nicolas Fernandez declares "State Of Emergency" Damsmar-wide / BREAKING: Reports of army looting of government offices in Podzia

Commiss Army Chief of Staff Nicolas Fernandez has declared today outside of the Unitary Parliament the declaration of a Union-Wide state of emergency beginning tonight at midnight Bailorian Standard Time and scheduled to end within two weeks. Arriving by military convoy, the Chief of Staff (the most senior ranking position within the Damsmarian Army) announced that the country was "facing increasingly numerous external and internal threats." Speaking in full outside the Unitary Parliament, Aygon.

"Good afternoon. At the moment, the Unified Damsmarian States does not have a Unitary government that commands a majority within the house behind me. There is no Unitary Commissioner. The High Commissioner, Jean de Temer is currently the caretaker administrator and is running the government programme set by the departed Anderson administration. However, with the possibility of a coalition government being formed with this parliamentary arithmetic being nil to none, we are plunged into even more perilous uncertainty. The safety of the Damsmarian people will always remain paramount for the Army, therefore it is in my remit to declare an official Unitary state of emergency beginning tonight midnight Bailorian Standard Time. Our country is facing increasingly numerous external and internal threats, Engleberg, Montedoran terrorism and the increasing possibility of widespread civil disobedience and upheaval, it is necessary that this state of emergency is enacted.

High Commissioner Jean de Temer has approved the assumption of the state of emergency at the behest of the Commiss Army and Unitary Council for Defence. As such his office of the High Commissioner will have more power to keep the country stable. The Army have also been granted increased funding and powers to maintain and protect law, order and Damsmarian sovereignty. It is in all our interests that this state of emergency lasts no longer than what is necessary, as such I have placed the primary deadline for the termination of this state of emergency within two weeks beginning midnight tonight. If the security situation remains critical we will look at extending the deadline. Because of this we are safer and stronger as a nation, and I hope to see a return to normality soon." The increased powers will see the High Commissioner's Office have powers akin to that of the Unitary Commissioner's office. Laws and amendments to laws can be passed through the parliament with consent of the Speaker and 1/4 of the Unitary Council. The Army have also been granted more independence from the Unitary Council for Defence, the appointed body that oversees army action and policy.

Shortly after the declaration, reports have been flooding in that the army locked down central Podzia and from many other reports and footage they had begun looting the regional Podzian government offices. With windows and doors being smashed, file blocks thrown out windows and entire floors set alight, the army were then shortly after seen leaving a scene of complete devastation. Ambulances were also seen taking injured and beaten civil servants to the local Podzia General. United Nationalist Party leader and Montedoran Regional Commissioner Ablija Hejkovic later stated that a "military dictatorship was in the process of creation." The Regional Commissioner was seen around the government blocks talking to those whom witnessed and were victim to the army raids. There has been no comment from the Commiss Army, but the Montedoran Police Service Chief Alvaro Pavarotti said he had "lost all control in the hours that they ransacked the offices." Furthering that officers were denied access. Currently the army remain a large, armed and increasing presence in the Podzia region as well as having the regional parliament buildings locked down.

Sunrisian Musical Artist Venăs Fîmbrél Talks About Days As A Former Political Dissident And Being A Politically-Active Citizen Today

Image

Venăs Fîmbrél, lead vocalist of Sunrisian rock band – Stélla.

Front man of the Orentan-based band – Stélla, has recently spoken out on the non-musical part of his activities – civil activism, including in the country’s politics. Fîmbrél, by comparison, has always been outspoken about his beliefs and his personal role in activism and politics, but now he has once again come out with a larger speech on it on a non-musical network, during an interview. Still, seeing to how Venăs Fîmbrél and his band are big stars in Sunrisia, our WtF Music Television network has not overlooked it, even though it ventures outside our own musical theme and 24/7 focus on it.

Venăs Fîmbrél said:

Our band were political dissidents during the short-lived era of the Provisional Republic. When we represented our country at the 64th Sunalyavision Song Contest in Ispanza, of all places, we famously did not bring any flags with us. That was the Sunrisia that we had recognized and we showed it to the rest of the world and also to our fellow citizens, even if not everybody understood us at first. Sunrisians rooted for us with their own flags of Sunrisia that they believed in. Primarily it was the current flag, which was a Sunrisian dissident, protest and opposition symbol at the time. Fast forward to the protests that had overthrown the Provisional Republic, our band performed for the Nationalists and the Neo-Isolationists, because we identified with them over other competing protest groups. We also stood with them in the protesting crowd. It is fortunate that these 2 groups ultimately ended up “coming to power.”

Now, I cannot speak for my fellow band mates, because that is for them to say, even though they shared this info with me personally, but I voted for the Justice Coalition of Neo-Isolationism and Self-Reliance. However, their government has now been ousted and I personally-supported the protests that led up to that. We now support the present government, even if it is run by our intelligence services and the military, this time out in the open. Many in Sunrisia are today concerned that the intelligence services and the military could try to usurp power, now that they no longer have to hide behind a puppet government. We think that if the intelligence and the military had those kind of plans, they would have done it a while back, since we had found out that they were pulling the strings this entire time anyway. Let us admit that the government run by the intelligence and the military, together with the help of brave citizens whose volunteer forces had joined them, have masterfully handled the New Sunrisian Republican Army (NSRA) and the Sunrisian Theocrat and Monarchist Corps (STMC) militant groups by physically annihilating them. They have also greatly handled the warships of the Englean Kaiserreich lately, who had something planned in our part of the continent. I think that we should now focus on returning stability to Sunrisia and getting into the Holiday spirit. President and PID Director Fórî Apstérâ is a man of trust and I genuinely believe that his leadership is interested in bringing about a proper transformation to Sunrisia after the most recent political crisis. Right now, apart from focusing on the Holidays, we need to remember that we have a legislative election to look forward to, so, as active citizens, let us make sure to participate in that, while also keeping them fair and democratic. After all, freedom in Sunrisia or any sort of positive change, depends on our civil society first and foremost.

Venăs Fîmbrél also talked about his participation in volunteer organizations, including The White Dove (WD), which is focused on aiding the developing and war-torn parts of the world. Being so outspoken and active, Venăs Fîmbrél did not escape the question on whether he would consider running for President of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. However, the musician stated that he has no such plans at the moment, rather wishing to keep on advancing his band’s music and making contributions to the musical world in general.

Montedoran regional parliament sign declaration of independence

At 3:04pm today the Montedoran Regional Parliament voted 57% in favour of unilaterally declaring the complete independence of the Montedoran state from The Seven United, establishing the Montedoran Republic (Republica de Moncedor) UNP leader Ablija Hejkovic presented the bill to the Montedoran parliament, calling it "the only way forward for our nation." Throughout many north Montedoran areas including the enclaves of Incermedio and Mocina jubilation took over as many businesses shut and people took to the streets in support of the move for independence. However, many anti-independence rallies have since taken place involving violent clashes between them in Podzia and Barza. In the declaration the Montedoran Republic would be governed by an elected president accountable to the new parliament, with elections to be held "within 6 months of full secession."

High Commissioner Jean de Temer has branded the declaration "illegal and undemocratic" furthering that no credible independence referendum was held. UNP leader Ablija Hejkovic, and now self-declared President of the Montedoran Republic decried recent army actions and "incursions" into the Montedoran in recent times as the basis of the quick move to independence, also stating that the majority of the MUPs elected in Montedoran are pro-independence. As of yet no arrest warrant has been placed on any separatist politicians, but the Commiss Army have reportedly urged the High Commission to consider taking action before they do.

The Montedoran Police Service have stated that they remain faithful to the Damsmarian constitution and will not carry out actions on behalf of the new separatist government based in Podzia - but have also stated that they will not carry out any warrants issued from Aygon on politicians involved in the independence declaration. Commiss Army Chief of Staff Nicolas Fernandez in a short press release stated that they will not leave the Montedoran as wished by Hejkovic, instead they will continue their duties "as normal." Communist leader Luis Manuel Osóro arrived to anti-independence rallies in Mojkovin where he alleged that Hejkovic was a tyrant based on "dividing the Damsmarian people, so that they can profit off their misery." As well as this, leading paramilitary leaders have promised to put down their arms and disband in the event of full succession. This was branded a lie by Osóro and many other Damsmarian politicians.

Indeed, this declaration is illegal in the eyes of the constitution of the Unified Damsmarian States. In order for such a declaration to occur, a viable independence referendum must be held beforehand. The previous referendum was declared inadequate, inaccurate and plagued with deliberate counting errors.

National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla Travels To South Baggnagia

State Of Emergency: Ended

Image

The Apstérâ administration has sent National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla to South Baggnagia on a first visit by an official from a new presidential administration in Sunrisia. This is the second foreign visit by National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla after New Vesvai and the first overseas visit to another continent. The objective of National Defense Consultant Cónsîla is to visit South Baggnagia and meet with the officials of the country’s military government. The National Defense Consultant will be there to reaffirm Sunrisia commitment to South Baggnagia after the most recent changes in leadership in both countries. The message will be that the strategically-vital military alliance lives on and that North Baggnagia will remain deterred if it has any schemes planned, while seeing South Baggnagia and Sunrisia having gone through internal issues recently. If the North Baggnagian deterrence does not work and the regime attempts anything, its’ aggressive actions will be met with a proper response just like in the past times. National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla also plans to congratulate South Baggnagia on having recently brought back its’ 27 prisoners in an exchange with North Baggnagia that happened on the border between North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia.

Other than the meeting with the South Baggnagian military government, National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla will be visiting Sunrisian service personnel stationed in South Baggnagia. The National Defense Consultant will be meeting the soldiers in Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and the Sunrisian part of the Joint Task Force (JTF), comprised of South Baggnagian and Sunrisian soldiers, with shared bases and a shared command. There will also be a meeting with General Emér Pârsīná, the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ sub-division – Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN). There is curiosity on whether General Emér Pârsīná would be replaced with a new Commander after the change in administration, since the Apstérâ administration is “cleaning house” and replacing everybody else. National Defense Consultant Cónsîla will not be able to visit the service personnel of Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN), since they are stationed in the South Baggnagian exclave of Neodvisni that is cut off from the rest of the country and surrounded by North Baggnagia, however, the National Defense Consultant will most likely do what those before him did and contact the soldiers over a video call.

In other news:

  • Regional parliament of the Montedoran, The Seven United (Damsmar), sign the Declaration of Independence.

Kaiserliche-Marine and Sunrisian Navy Clash in Southern Corentia; Reichstag Formally Recognises Montedoran Independence

Image
SMS Seeskorpion, one of the vessels involved in the confrontation

Freie Reichsstadt Engelberg, Englean Kaiserreich-- Forces of the Englean Kaiserreich and the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia have engaged in military confrontation in Southern Corentia, according to the Kaiserliche-Marine. The confrontation, located near the straight between the nation of Edereon and the Occupied Territories of Daredland, involved ships of the 8. Zerstörer-Flottille whom were tasked with freedom of navigation exercises in the area. This confrontation did not lead to any casualties or prisoners taken by either side, with the Kaiserliche-Marine confirming the damage to one patrol boat.

Officers related to the incident have given a different account to the confrontation to that given by members of the Sunrisian Navy. Kapitän zur See Paul Freudenthal, commander of the SMS Seeskorpion, said that it was indeed the Sunrisians that engaged in hostilities towards the Englean ships. He stated that the three members of the flotilla, the Seeskorpion, Vöcklahofen, and Karl Stavson, along with the SM S-498X (a patrol boat), were operating under freedom of navigation exercises within the region before being assigned to escort shipping near Ispanza. While proceeding on their route, the ships spotted their counterparts of the SDF approaching their position but were unable to fully identify the ships as Sunrisian. The captain claims that the Seeskorpion attempted to hail the approaching the vessels, even attempting light signals in order to communicate - neither of which succeeded. Following communication attempts, the unidentified vessels were stated to have fired their primary cannons at the Englean ships. The Englean vessels fired back, and this engagement was recorded as taking place over the span of 15 minutes. One of the vessels hit was the SM S-498X, a small patrol boat, which was lit on fire after taking a hit from a Sunrisian shell. The boat fired one anti-ship missile at the Sunrisians, but it is unknown if this missile was successful in hitting its target. The captain of the S-498X then proceeded to approach at full speed towards the lead Sunrisian vessel, ramming the ship. KzS Freudenthal stated that the Sunrisians "must have recognised the flag on the patrol boat," for they quickly disengaged after the ramming.

Following the incident, the Kaiserliches Oberkommando der Marine (KOdM) released a statement placing the responsibility for the confrontation on the commander of the Sunrisian vessels. In addition, the KOdM has responded to the possibility of increased Sunrisian presence within Eastern Corentia, with Fregattenkapitän Reinhold Weisgerber stating today that "the Kaiserliche-Marine is not attempting to 'tip the scale,' as Mr. Inîmīcâ said. The Kaiserreich has allies in the area, of which is consistently under threat by Sunrisia, and it is our duty to defend their commerce and freedom to travel the seas unhindered. We will continue to support our allies within the region, with or without Sunrisian posturing."

Concurrently, the border nation of Damsmar has been undergoing significant political turmoil recently with the nation entering a "State of Emergency" as declared by Commiss Army Chief of Staff Nicolas Fernandez. Following the declaration, it was reported that the Commiss Army had "locked down central Podzia and from many other reports and footage they had begun looting the regional Podzian government offices" and that the city had been ransacked by the army. The situation escalated with the state of Montedoran declaring independence from the Unified Damsmarian States just yesterday, taking upon the name of the "Montedoran Republic." The action by the state has been both praised and denounced within Damsmar, with both the High Commissioner of the nation and CoS Fernandez speaking against the move - citing it as "illegal and undemocratic."

In response to the recent activity from Montedoran, a snap election within the Reichstag was called upon to determine Englean recognition of the new republic. In a vote of 250-100, the bill passed the Reichstag and temporarily is known as the "Emergency Bill for Recognition of the Montedoran Republic." The bill requires approval of the Reichsrat and His Imperial Majesty before taking full effect, but the nature of Emergency Bills allows for the bill to have limited effects until approval or denial. Effectively, the Kaiserreich has become the first nation to recognise the Montedoran Republic and it is expected that the Reichsrat and HIM will approve the bill later today. Außenminister Wilhelm von Richter today denounced the activity of Chief of Staff Fernandez, stating that the officer "was abusing his power as chief of staff of the Commiss Army" von Richter continued, "These activities by the Commiss Army are deplorable and unacceptable. As Mr. Hejkovic of Montedoran stated, it appears that Damsmar is becoming a military dictatorship. I warn Mr. Fernandez that the Englean Kaiserreich will not allow such a system to be enacted, and urge Mr. de Temer to resist increasing demands by Mr. Fernandez and the Commiss Army...As for the Republic of Montedoran, I cannot comment specifically on the subject until approval of the emergency bill by His Imperial Majesty but if the nation were to reach out, the Kaiserreich would be willing to listen."

24 dead as shots fired and bombs detonated in two nights of serious rioting, looting and paramilitary violence in Herza Novi, Alambra and Barza

Image

Rioters seen yesterday burning a barricade in Alambra

24 people have been confirmed dead with just over a hundred injured by serious rioting in the Montedoran cities of Herza Novi, Alambra and Barza with the vast majority of injuries and deaths occurring in serious rioting displayed within Herza Novi. Shots have also been fired at police, with two instances of improvised explosives being thrown into police lines leading to the death of two police officers and three army personnel in total. Local Commissioner for Herza Novi Jereaer Aralis labelled the violence as "chaos and carnage" pleading for calm within the city. Initially starting two days ago, civil disobedience turned to full scale rioting quickly. Paramilitary figures were seen behind rioters many armed, Montedoran Police Service Chief Alvaro Pavarotti claimed that many of the rioters displayed serious intent to kill and maim police and army personnel, with some being successful in their attempts.

With the shootings and bombings, the army was quickly deployed into areas of serious disorder. UNP Leader Ablija Hejkovic and self-declared President of the Montedoran Republic pleaded for law and order within the city, but also condemned the army for claims that some parts of the city were ransacked by the military. In Barza, riots broke out between pro-Union and secessionists, with violence between the groups leaving to four deaths.

A curfew has been set into operation in the north Montedoran region by the Commiss Army, beginning each night at 9pm. However these efforts have been declared fruitless by the Montedoran Police Service, whose chief claimed the army are to blame for the upsurge in violence and disorder. High Commissioner Jean de Temer has called on the Unitary Council for Defence along with the functioning security Commissions to restore order within the Montedoran region before violence spills elsewhere across Damsmar. In a separate statement, the High Commissioner condemned the Kaisserreich's Foreign Minister Wilhelm von Richter for claimed meddling in Damsmarian internal affairs.

Pickets and anti-government demonstrations have also been seen in Aygon, Appeltern and Celstead. However they have remained largely peaceful, but according to Commiss Army Chief of Staff Nicolas Fernandez "such civil disobedience could be very easily sponsored into rioting by foreign belligerents." In a statement issued by the army, they denied ransacking government offices in Podzia while also blaming the recent violence on "foreign belligerents" while naming the Englean Kaisserreich as a "main sponsor."

South Baggnagia welcomes Sunrisian National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla

Image

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – A Sunrisian guest is visiting South Baggnagia. Sunrisian National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla has arrived on a first official visit on behalf of a new Sunrisian government. He was welcomed by the Military Council of South Baggnagia. Lt. General Radoslav Meier acts as the primary host. He said that the visit is very important to demonstrate the continued existence and development of the South Baggnagian–Sunrisian Alliance. The visit involved discussions about relations between the nations along with the prisoner swap between North and South Baggnagia that recently happened. Sunrisian National Defense Consultant said that he also wanted to discuss human rights with the South Baggnagian military government as a vital issue that would affect relations. On his side Lt. General Radoslav Meier congratulated the new Sunrisian administration on handling the crisis Sunrisia has been facing which involved the political struggle and militant insurgency. Lt. General explained that a stable Sunrisia was key to South Baggnagia for security and a continuation of the Alliance. But mutual defense took the forefront. The talks were about a strategy both allies would continue to use towards North Baggnagia. The neighbor remains rarely predictable so even in periods of thaw there’s still a caution that always needs to be applied towards North Baggnagia. Most recently North Baggnagia started getting first open foreign support through its new dealings with Belantica. North Baggnagia is now being propped up. So to counter this it was very important for the South Baggnagian military government to reengage with the new Sunrisian leadership to formulate a response to North Baggnagian dealings. There is a possibility that North Baggnagia might ow be a stronger opponent especially if it succeeds in getting more foreign supporters. So the Alliance must be ready for that any other possibility, according to Lt. General Radoslav Meier.

INSURGENTS ATTACK DEMOLITION SITE

Rio Benedicto - Yesterday in the provincial capital of Rio Benedicto, a small group of Tirecha insurgents stormed the city square yesterday armed with weapons and tools and took several demolition workers hostage. The demolition workers were unguarded and unprepared at the time, busy preparing a crane and jackhammers to remove the statue of noted counterrevolutionary Jose Juarez. Juarez is known for being the priest that called for violence against the new post-revolutionary government after they cracked down on counterrevolutionary spiritualism and church hegemony. His call for violence initiated la Guerra Materialista, in which over 300,000 Natse died. He was executed for his involvement in la Guerra in 1927 and has been idolised by reactionaries ever since. The insurgents destroyed the crane and created barricades around the Following the attack, La Policia Federal deployed multiple anti-guerrilla units to protect the demolition workers. The 6th Regiment of the Guardia Nacional to secure the surrounding area and discourage insurgent recruitment.

FAITHFUL STALL DESTRUCTION OF IMPORTANT STATUE

Rio Benedicto - Yesterday, two pelotónes from the Frente de Liberación Nacional Socialista (FLNS) seized the city square of Rio Benedicto, the capital of the region of Rio Benedicto. The square, known as San Agustin Square, held the statue of San Augustin de Rio Benedicto, a martyr of the Natse Orthodox Church. The statue, erected in 1952, was set to be demolished by government contractors but was prevented from such due to the actions of the FLNS. The statue holds a place in many a heart in Natsem, due to San Augustin’s involvement in the Guerra por Cristo. San Augustin de Rio Benedicto, born Jose Ramon Augustin Juarez, was a Natse Orthodox priest. He was born in 1891 to Tirecha parents in a village in Rio Benedicto. He was ordinated in 1911. Following la Revolucion de 1917, the new government made moves to persecute faithful Christians and seize church properties. On December 20, 1926, following the looting and razing of Padre Juarez’s church, he made a call for action:

...My brothers and sisters in Christ, I call upon you to fight for your faith and your God, so that you may worship Him freely. The rulers of this nation have rejected the Lord’s gift of power to them, so they must be removed from power, whether that means through peaceful or violent means. Viva la Fe Eterna! Viva Nuestra Señora de Tafalla! Viva Cristo Rey!

This call for action gained national attention and spurred Christians around the country to rise up and fight against the government. P. Juarez was arrested on April 3, 1927, and was executed by firing line the following day. He was canonised by the Natse Orthodox Church on April 3, 1949. After preventing the destruction of the statue initially, the FSNL fighters were repelled by Guardia Nacional and Policia Federal forces and the demolition, unfortunately, went on.

Minister Of International Relations Nívâl Rêtráctăs Appoints New Special Envoys Of Sunrisia

Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia – Nívâl Rêtráctăs has gone forward with the previously-announced plan to appoint new Sunrisian special envoys. Currently, Sunrisia has 3 special envoy offices created by the Department of International Relations. Those offices being – Emissary for Alternative Contacts (EAC) of Sunrisia, Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) of Sunrisia and Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) of Sunrisia for Daredland Negotiations. Up until fairly recently, there were 4 special envoy positions, including Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) of Sunrisia for Eikangaard Settlement, which was a position held by diplomat Cóllên Súâsar. However, that office was closed after the stabilization of the crisis in Eikangaard. Only 3 active special envoy positions have been left since.

Minister Nívâl Rêtráctăs announced that Mánâ Sûrcér would become the new Emissary for Alternative Contacts (EAC) of Sunrisia, replacing Anît Iûnctén, while Cálêr Ustrīnâ would take over as the new Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) of Sunrisia, replacing Avér Inîmīcâ, and Suâv Ambústên would become the new Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) of Sunrisia for Daredland Negotiations, replacing Párêc Adstâtér. Meanwhile, Anît Iûnctén, Avér Inîmīcâ and Párêc Adstâtér would transition to other diplomatic functions. Due to the literal absence of the legislature, after President Fórî Apstérâ dissolved it, the new special envoys would not require parliamentary hearings and MP approval, in order to assume their positions. That drawn out process has been shortened and Minister of International Relations Nívâl Rêtráctăs now has more liberty to appoint those special envoys directly, while possibly requiring a consultation with President Fórî Apstérâ at most.

In other news:

  • More parties join the early legislative election race in a campaign for positions in the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia.

  • Debates continue on whether to move the early legislative election up to January or keep the campaign period extended until February, when voting is due to happen.

  • National Defense Consultant Mústêll Cónsîla reports the outcome of the visit to South Baggnagia to President Fórî Apstérâ.

  • Spokesperson for the Department of International Relations Hīmât Mácêra: “We are rooting for stabilization to come to The Seven United (Damsmar) soon.

  • 4,000 Sunrisian soldiers in Celstead, The Seven United (Damsmar) on patrol, after the Englean Kaiserreich increases military presence on its’ own border with The Seven United (Damsmar).

Montedoran Police will enforce Unitary arrest warrant for Ablija Hejkovic and other separatists / UNP party split / Alternate Liberals move against Temer as row deepens / ELM claim responsibility for car bombing in central Aygon

Montedoran Police Service Chief Alvaro Pavarotti has informed media that they will follow through and enforce the new Unitary arrest warrant issued against Ablija Hejkovic, Fernando Cassel and Ivis Cereolivic, named for violation against the Unitary constitution and instigating separatism - all will no longer be safe from trial within the Montedoran state. Chief Pavarotti claimed that it was his duty to follow the rule of law and the rule of law necessitated the arrest of these individuals, he furthered that he claimed no political position and was simply carrying out a duty.

This comes shortly after the High Commission under the power granted by the ongoing state of emergency issued arrest warrants against the three deemed to be the main culprits of the independence declaration of which only the Kaiserreich of Engleberg has formally recognised. So far only Fernando Cassel has been arrested with Ablija Hejkovic reported to have departed Podzia International along with Ivis Cereolivic the deputy leader of the UNP, their whereabouts are currently unknown.

In the United Nationalist Party, a split has emerged with MUPs for mainly south and eastern Montedoran forming the new "Montedoran Progressives" party. Nine MUPs have defected from the UNP so far, many of which campaigning against illegality and the independence declaration. The new Montedoran Progressives will campaign on increased Montedoran devolution rather than outright independence, and are working to secure more defections. Appointed party spokesperson Cuna Ines put forward the basis of the party, "We work for progressive devolution rather than rushed separation. We work to be progressive, working across the political spectrum. We also put a lot of emphasis on working for all the Montedoran people, not just those who agree or disagree on the issue of independence." Rumours of further splits within the UNP are also circulating, with Caledonian MUPs meeting with the remaining senior UNP leadership today. It is possible that the Caledonian branch of the UNP will forge a new party, with MUP for East Caledon Hans Möller becoming the leader.

There is more party politics brewing, many Alternate Liberal MUPs are protesting outside the Unitary Parliament today against the state of emergency and current High Commissioner Jean de Temer. Over fifty Alternate Liberal MUPs most of which hailing from outside the Bailor, are campaigning for the state of emergency to end and for the second snap Unitary election to be held in late February. Key organiser of the protest and senior figure within the Damsmarian Alternate Liberals Manuel-François Imbernon stated that the main goal of the protest was to demonstrate that many of those within the Liberal party do not back the current High Commissioner, whom is a long standing member of the Alternate Liberals himself. "Temer does not represent Damsmarian Liberalism" chant many of the organisers.

The Montedoran paramilitary group and designated terrorist organisation, the ELM (Ejercito Libertador de Moncedor) has claimed responsibility for the detonation of a car bomb in central Aygon today, north of the popular tourist spot L'Chane d'Tauvers. At 3:15 pm a suspicious vehicle was reported to the Aygonian local police, whom after inspecting the vehicle (parked illegally) found a device in the backseat, an evacuation was made underway. Ten minutes later a phone call was received warning the authorities of the placement of the bomb. Shortly after the phone call the bomb detonated damaging the immediate area and knocking out a streetlight. Aygonian Police Commissioner Andre Podebasque described the device as "unstable and deadly." furthering that it was a miracle nobody was injured or lost. Security has since been tightened within the greater Aygon area as the perpetrators remain on the loose with terror investigations underway.

Altér Sódálî Appointed As The Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) Of Sunrisia For The Montedoran Stabilization

Department of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia has established a new special envoy position as the latest edition to the other 3 active special envoy positions. The new fourth special envoy position is – the Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) of Sunrisia for the Montedoran Stabilization. It was created at the request of the government of The Seven United (Damsmar), which has asked for assistance from the Sunrisian government in a diplomatic stabilization of the crisis in the Montedoran region, something that Sunrisia has also proposed to The Seven United (Damsmar) in the past. Given the previous proposals by Sunrisia of diplomatic assistance towards the Montedoran settlement, stabilization and support for a lasting peace process, the Sunrisian side was happy to fulfill the request.

Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia – Nívâl Rêtráctăs, appointed diplomat Altér Sódálî as the Designated Diplomatic Agent (DDA) of Sunrisia for the Montedoran Stabilization, making him the first to hold the new office. Meanwhile, another Sunrisian special envoy – Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) of Sunrisia – Cálêr Ustrīnâ, also a recent appointee, has condemned the Englean Kaiserreich for its’ approach towards the current situation in The Seven United (Damsmar) as “irresponsible”:

The Englean Kaiserreich is seizing the opportunity to fuel instability in Western Corentia, in order to neutralize their primary geopolitical rivals and attempt an expansion in whichever direction the empire can. With the recent short period of unrest in Sunrisia, the Englean Kaiserreich immediately jumped towards escalating their destabilizing actions in Western Corentia, while we were distracted and unable to resist as effectively as before. We had a naval clash between the Sunrisian and Englean navies in the international waters to the south of Corentia, as the Englean warships attempted to push deeper into the Western side of the continent. That was stopped, therefore, the Kaiserreich, which remains on patrol and looking for loopholes in our resistance of Englean expansionism and aggression, is trying to fuel unrest in The Seven United (Damsmar).

The Englean side has irresponsibly recognized the independence of the self-proclaimed Republic of the Montedoran, an entity declared in a region currently going through unrest and where independence was declared outside legitimate standards and a legitimate protocol in accordance with democratic norms, as well as without a guaranteed consent of the majority of the region’s citizens. The Englean side is pouring gasoline into the literal fire in the Montedoran, which sabotages any chance of a peaceful settlement. However, that is not surprising, because it is hard to deny that using instability in a country that you have hostile relations with, is part of the Englean national interest or at least the regime’s national interest, as it appears. Fueling instability in adversary countries is the only way the Englean regime can pursue their interests. Supporting the self-proclaimed Republic of the Montedoran does not even align with the Englean regime’s ideology, given their animosity towards democracy and a republic system of government. Therefore, there is already a logical loophole, which hints at the true motives of the Englean policy. We see parallels between the Englean approach towards the current unrest in The Seven United (Damsmar) and what happened in Daredland back in the day. The self-proclaimed Republic of the Montedoran is being used by the Englean side the same way as the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich has been and is used in Daredland to this day.

Given these conclusions, Sunrisia’s focus should and will be the continued military deterrence of direct Englean military aggression in Western Corentia, obviously including nuclear detterance, while our special envoys help advance a diplomatic settlement towards the conflicts in The Seven United (Damsmar) and Daredland. I welcome Altér Sódálî into the ranks of our country’s special envoys and wish him luck in diplomatically helping achieve peace in the Montedoran region and subsequently the rest of The Seven United (Damsmar).

  • Debates continue on whether to move up the Sunrisian legislative election date from February to January.

House Of Representatives Passes A Required Gender-Neutral Registration With The Armed Forces For Possible Obligatory Service: Opposition-Supported Conscription Fails To Gain Government Approval

The State of West Zilveren Berg will soon have its’ own independent military, which is going to be the West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF). Concerning the fact that West Zilveren Berg’s own armed forces are going to need personnel to fill the ranks, there has been a discussion on whether West Zilveren Berg needs conscription or an all-professional and volunteer recruitment? Prior to elections, many new parties have proposed conscription, because they say that the underdeveloped West Zilveren Military will not have enough personnel and reserve just from professionals and volunteers. They called it a necessary evil in some way. However, that stance was not shared but 4 parties – the Alliance of New West Zilveren Berg (ANWZB), the Union of National Liberals and National Democrats (UNLND), the National Movement for West Zilveren Progress (NMWZP) and the Alternative Democratic Liberal Party of West Zilveren Berg (ADLPWZB). These are the parties that would go on to win the elections and form the current coalition government of West Zilveren Berg. Obviously, there were other reason attributed to their shared election victory, but a shared stance on the military service question might have been another connecting father. The same stance on military service is at least one of the issues that keeps the governing coalition connected from within.

On this day, the West Zilveren House of Representatives passed a bill for a required gender-neutral registration with the West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF) for possible obligatory service. It would include all individuals in West Zilveren Berg from 18 years of age, so that a draft could be ready immediately, in case a need arises. The bill requires registration to happen within a year from the 18th birthday, giving plenty stress-free time to fulfill the registration obligation with comfortable conditions. The governing coalition explained that this bill was a compromise, because the government could see the logic in the opposition’s words about West Zilveren Berg needing to fill personnel numbers and reserve numbers. That is why a complete transition into an all-professional and volunteer-based military has not been done at this moment with the new law. However, the governing coalition stood by its’ previous stance of opposing a classical draft. Many opposition parties have criticized the government’s anti-draft stance and voted against the bill. Other opposition parties have refrained from voting. Those who opposed the registration instead of conscription, said that West Zilveren Berg would now remain more dependent on Sunrisian protection instead of relying on its’ own army and that would undermine West Zilveren foreign policy of remaining a neutral and non-bloc country, which is in the constitution.

Despite the opposition criticism of the bill, it is believed that it will pass in the Senate as well, after having passed in the House of Representatives today. The governing coalition holds a majority in both houses, so a bill drafted by it, is expected not to have any trouble passing in lower and upper house. Opposition parties can still stage a boycott or agree to vote against it together, but it is uncertain how effective such a strategy would be. Excesses regarding this particular bill are not expected, as West Zilveren political stability is more important by comparison right now.

More New Appointments Carried Out By The Apstérâ Administration

The administration of President and PID Director Fórî Apstérâ continues “cleaning house” and appointing new officials in all ranks and parts of the Sunrisian leadership. More new appointments have been announced today by the Apstérâ administration. Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia – Nívâl Rêtráctăs, has announced that Sunrisia would be appointing new ambassadors with a new diplomatic staff in all functioning embassies of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia abroad, which Sunrisia keeps at a smaller number these days, thus not making it too much of a difficult and drawn-out process. Meanwhile, Minister Rêtráctăs and also his cabinet colleague at the administration – Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia – Rêbór Acértâ, have jointly announced the replacement of the Sunrisian representation in MDAA. Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA – Grán Róbâsta, and his team will be replaced. Cáldăs Flórêna will become the new Secretary of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia in MDAA, together with a new team as the representation of Sunrisia in the alliance.

Apart from announcing the replacement of Sunrisian representatives in MDAA together with the Department of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, there was another additional announcement by the Department of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Minister of Security Rêbór Acértâ announced that General Emér Pârsīná is concluding service as the second Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ sub-division Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN). General Emér Pârsīná will be replaced General Térsâ Nītádĕr, who will become the third Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ sub-division Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN).

Ablija Hejkovic and Ivis Cereolivic claim political asylum in Belantica / Communist Party leader Luis Manuel Osóro to coordinate with civil servant unions to force through election and end to state of emergency / Political Opinion Piece: Jerene Anrala

Self-proclaimed President of the Montedoran Republic Ablija Hejkovic, and deputy leader of the United Nationalist Party Ivis Cereolivic have both announced that they are currently claiming political asylum in Belantica after warrants for their arrest were placed against them by the High Commission. Posted to social media, Hejkovic stated that she believed her safety would be in danger within the Damsmarian criminal justice system, and that if the High Commission were successful in their attempt to incarcerate her she would be "locked up permanently" for what she believed in. At the end of the video she posted online, Hejkovic claimed that she was a part of the Montedoran government in-exile and appealed for foreign nations to support their cause for independence. Cereolivic stated that his position as deputy leader of the party meant he was sought for arrest simply to further cripple his party rather than his "minimal" input on the Montedoran declaration of independence.

High Commissioner Temer although remaining quiet in recent days released a statement through the office of the High Commission requesting that the criminals (as they were described) were extradited for trial within Damsmar. Refuting the belief that they would be in danger under the Unitary justice system, the office of the High Commission also clarified that should they not be extradited the Unified Damsmarian States would cut diplomatic ties with Belantica.

Communist Party leader Luis Manuel Osóro has pledged to mobilise civil servant unions across Damsmar in order to force the Unitary government into ending the state of emergency and calling for a new set of elections. Speaking at a government union rally, "The government is ran by the people, not the other way around. The benefit of our system of workers unions means that public servants are able to call a halt to political madness such as this through the force of collective action. If the High Commission does not end this state of emergency, and call for a fresh set of elections by the end of next week - I and many other parties and politicians will work to paralyse them until they have no choice but to follow through with the will of the people."

Political Opinion Piece, Jerene Anrala:

As we know Damsmar is suffering a severe period of political instability. Tracing its roots back to the no confidence vote against the Anderson government in the beginning of October this year. By the wisdom of the Unitary Constitution, a no confidence vote ejects the Unitary Commission and Commissioner immediately and effectively appoints the High Commission as the caretaker government until the next Commission is formed from the snap election. Under normal procedures the High Commission follows the government programme set by the ejected commission and is stripped of its power to deviate from that programme. However we are not following normal procedure even before the state of emergency was declared.

The High Commission is completely unable to govern for more than a short period of time. Its original purpose is to facilitate the correspondence and communication between the Unitary Council and the Unitary Government. Since the no confidence vote the Unitary Council hasn't sat once and many civil servants report that much of the government infrastructure that allowed for the implementation of government decisions to the regional level has simply fell a part. Many civil servants including top public servants further report that regional governments are simply ignoring the High Commission, and are beginning to follow government programmes significantly different to that of each other. Some have even reported that they aren't following any programme at all and are making it up as they go along.

This was before the state of emergency. Things have significantly worsened since then, factionalism within the Unitary Council has worsened and the control of the central government has weakened to nought. It says much when an arrest warrant from the central government is first ignored by the Montedoran regional police force, forcing Commissioner Temer to withdraw the warrants negotiate with the Montedoran police, then when finally given an assurance they would carry it out - put forward the arrest warrants again, all to save face. On the ground things are even more dire, public works projects have been cancelled and public money is redirected to the priorities of local public servants with little oversight from the regional government and absolutely zero oversight from Aygon. The AART (Aygon Area Rapid Transit) project lies in tatters as construction sites are left desolate with the local government simply not having the appointed ministers to continue with work. Recession blights much of Damsmar and where it does not hit stagnation and uncertainty builds with many people losing patience.

The list of powers granted to Temer under the declaration of a state of emergency is long but so far the central government has only used powers that many see as to further political gain, such as placing arrest warrants against senior members of the UNP. Many of the issues plaguing the government are also unfix-able without a Unitary Commission, as the departments within the central government are headed by appointed members of the Unitary Commission. With no Unitary Commission, all of the departments within the central government are left completely leaderless.

If no Unitary Commission is returned soon it could be too late, with the economic, political and societal damage and lack of trust becoming long lasting and toxic to the recovery of the organised Damsmarian state. The status quo that dominated Damsmar from the late 1980s onwards would be unrecoverable with the return to more local level power being made hard to reverse by any incoming Commission. Such a change would revert Damsmar back 40 years. The solution to the dilemma facing us is simple, get a government formed and quickly.

South Baggnagia warns North Baggnagia against blockading the Neodvisni exclave

Image

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – The Military Council of South Baggnagia perfectly realizes that the exclave of Neodvisni is the nation’s weakest and most vulnerable spot. The city and the territory around it under South Baggnagian sovereignty is entirely surrounded by North Baggnagia. At any time it can be forcibly blockaded by North Baggnagia and come under attack. Even if South Baggnagia always stand ready to defend Neodvisni, including by having forces stationed there specifically for the city defense, it still makes Neodvisni vulnerable. It’s still likely that South Baggnagia can liberate Neodvisni with a counter-attack against North Baggnagia even if the city gets occupied. But obviously the primary interest is to deter North Baggnagia from even attempting to attack Neodvisni. That is more difficult to do because the territory can’t be reinforced as efficiently as South Baggnagia may want to. And yet the Military Council of South Baggnagia is taking every chance to keep North Baggnagia from even considering threatening the Neodvisni exclave. Lt. General Radoslav Meier had another of his early New Year addresses at the Military Council. They were focused as the topic of peace, advancement and overall possibility. But the Chairman of the Military Council tried remaining realistic and recognize the threats that stood before South Baggnagia. They included the complicated state of relations with North Baggnagia. Periods of thaw have still kept relations complicated and always bordering on hostility or confrontation. After the last successful exchange of prisoners in the past year Lt. General Radoslav Meier still did not rush to declare any sort of thaw in relations. The Lt. General’s approach towards North Baggnagia remains cold and calculating. He declared to North Baggnagia and personally to their leader Marshal Jan Tillich that threatening, blockading or blackmailing South Baggnagia by using the vulnerable exclave of Neodvisni would be a suicide mission for the neighbor.
