Constitution Of The Nationalist Republic Of Sunrisia Officially Adopted

LIVE BROADCAST

Image

The Convet of Sunrisia has cast a historic vote, legally adopting the Constitution of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. The adoption of the Constitution was met with a standing ovation at the Convet, the Presidential Palace and the streets of Sunrisia. August 22 has now become an annual celebration known as the Constitution Day or Day of the Constitution. The adoption of the Constitution of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia will be followed up with a ceremony, however, there will be a second ceremony held later, due to many prominent Sunrisians being abroad on this day, while expressing a wish to be physically present in Sunrisia on this momentous occasion.

Among those prominent Sunrisians that could not be here on the day of the adoption of a new Constitution, are – Minister of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá, Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér, National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên, Minister of Finance and Economic Development Díva Plénâta, and General Pártên Câstódél. The aforementioned cabinet officials are in Creperia as part of the visiting Sunrisian delegation. Their official visit will end this upcoming Sunday. Meanwhile, General Pártên Câstódél is still in South Baggnagia, overseeing the training of South Baggnagian soldiers and also completing his service as the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB), before his successor General Emér Pârsīná takes over the position. Although all these officials were abroad at the time, they watched the historic moment and applauded it with the rest of Sunrisia.

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr thanked the Constituent Assembly of Sunrisia and the lawmakers at the Convet for realizing the procedure. The President said that the current incarnation of the Sunrisian state finally has a Constitution to call its’ own, rather than a heavily-amended one from the past. There was no constitutional referendum held to approve the draft of the new Constitution, because opinion polls showed that the citizens supported the procedure. However, in case key amendments had to be made to the Constitution in the future, a referendum would be required then.

President Sâlúbĕr gave a long address on the occasion, but there was an important snippet that the head of state wanted to emphasize:

The word “nationalist” causes negative associations and rightfully so, because of many horrible things that sick minds have done throughout humanity’s history, while using and abusing this label. As Sunrisians, we and our new Constitution, rejects xenophobia and supremacy. Those views are a stain on humanity, but never lose fate that we can do better. Our interpretation of nationalism focuses on sovereignty and identity of our country and our nation at time of intensified political globalization, power projection, hegemony and what we call Neo-Colonialism. We have an ancient culture that we had inherited from our ancestors, which will be preserving, however, we welcome all people and anyone can be a Sunrisian if they want to and feel a connection with our land and our people.

The Constitution of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia includes Neo-Isolationism and Self-Reliance as state ideologies, but emphasizes that they are not to be forcefully imposed on any individual. The new Constitution also strengthens the format of a centralized state in Sunrisia, in order to eliminate any rifts or negative repercussions left over from the infamous division period.

OPINION: Hasting's crusade to save Layfet

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our dear future leader, Spencer Hastings is well on her way to saving our beloved country and we should immediately begin to build statues of the women all over the country and begin to worship her. That statement is exactly how Hastings wants us to react. She wants us to believe that she'll be the savior of us all, that she'll be able the fix the hole that Polster and Progressivsm have dropped Layfet in. Destroying our economy and destroying our alliances around the world. Hastings is no different from the Progressives, as she is one in all but name. She did the same things that previous Executive Ministers have done. Trying to glorify our nation to be more important then it really is in the grand scheme of things.

Hastings will lead us down the same path and take us further down the rabbit hole. We need a total overhaul of the country. We need a new constitution and a switch to capitalism and Hastings knows that, which is why when she announced her recent future political tour, she made sure to include Anthony Benson.

Benson is the clear choice when it comes to the election as it is capitalism that will be the only way Layfet can recover and rise up in the VU and the world and gain access to more markets and innovations. If we do not elect Benson, we are committing suicide for the nation.

New Archelogy Discovery in Western Yanbad!
Image
Pictured above, a Yanbadi archelogy team excavating the tomb of an unknown ancient Yanbadi

The Communist Party of Yanbad is proud to announce the discovery of an ancient tomb in the western most region of Yanbad close to the border of Akina. The scientists and archelogy team have utilized carbon dating technology to date the eggs and the rest of the items found in the tomb at approximately 2,000 years old. The age of the tomb means that it was built centuries prior to the founding of The People's Republic and before the feudal dynastic system took hold of Yanbad, a time when written records were spotty at best. The new discovery provides modern Yanbadis with an insight into the funeral practices of our ancient ancestors.

Image
Pictured above, Dr. Yanling Chen inspecting the discovery of an ancient Yanbadi funeral tomb

The head archaeologist Dr. Yanling Chen, offered to sit down for a brief interview about what the new discovery means for the field of Yanbadi Archelogy and for the history of the People’s Republic.

Yanbad Daily: How did you choose this location to start excavating?
Dr. Yanling: The local farmers and camel herders informed our research staff of “very old objects” that they found over the years. They kept many pieces in their homes in an effort to ward off “evil spirits” or unfortunately they destroyed the pieces.
Yanbad Daily: That is fascinating that the locals found these items and did not attempt to enter the tombs on their own.
Dr. Yanling: Yes it is. But keep in mind that this area is very superstitious. The locals informed my research staff of the legend surrounding the tombs in the area and how they were supposedly cursed. According to them it is one thing to stumble upon an artifact but entirely different to enter a tomb of the ancients.
Yanbad Daily: Interesting, does your staff believe in this supposed “curse?”
Dr. Yanling: [laughing to the point of coughing] No, no.no. We are a staff of scientists and scholars, we are more concerned with what the burial practices tell us then what local myths tell us.
Yanbad Daily:So what does the evidence tell you doctor?
Dr. Yanling: That our ancient ancestors prepared for the afterlife by placing goods within their tombs. We have found evidence of food that was preserved such as eggs, tangerines, and various meats. We also found evidence of clothing and weapons that could have been used by the person that was buried. Overall to find a tomb of this quality with such a complete and intact collection of artifacts is found once in a lifetime.
Yanbad Daily: Wow, that is pretty exciting Doctor. Thank you for your time I will let you get back to examining this incredible discovery.
Dr. Yanling: Thank you, and I want to thank the Communist Party of Yanbad for funding this operation.

With all this talk of eggs the Yanbad Daily wonders if Bo Chen, the oldest citizen in Yanbad, would try one of these eggs.

Party Note: The Yanbad Daily is currently looking for participants to take part in an oral history program meant to document the Communist Party of Yanbad’s successful revolution. Any citizens who are willing to help will have their interviews saved in the People’s Library.

MDAA Begins Scheduled Naval Drills In Northwestern Corentia, Southwestern Dogmana And International Waters South Of Corentia

Image

Image

The MDAA military alliance has started its’ scheduled naval drills that will be conducted in 3 geographical points of the Southwestern Hemisphere throughout their duration. The 3 points are – Northwestern Corentia, the bordering Southwestern Dogmana and the international waters to the south of the Corentian continent. The last large military exercise conducted by the member states of the MDAA alliance, was “Fire Wall” and it was held in Western Corentia from July 1st to August 1st, lasting exactly 1 month. The “Fire Wall” military exercise included land, aerial and naval training, and saw the participation of 4 countries – Creperia, Edereon, Damsmar (The Seven United) and Sunrisia, all of which happen to be full members of MDAA. However, the “Fire Wall” military exercise was not held under the MDAA flag and was rather presented as a military exercises involving the countries of Creperia, Edereon, Damsmar (The Seven United) and Sunrisia. The current naval drills will this time be held under the MDAA banner. Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA Grán Róbâsta stated that similarly to the duration of “Fire Wall”, the current naval drills are planned to last up to late September or even October 1st, but that is something that the participating countries will have to agree on more firmly down the line. At the moment, there is not rushing with that decision. On Sunrisian behalf, the first day of the MDAA naval drills will be overseen by the Vice Minister of Security, however, Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér and National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên, who will be returning from Creperia tomorrow, will continue to oversee them from Day 2 and up to the conclusion. Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA Grán Róbâsta and the Department of Security, said that the naval drills will not interfere with the passage of ships through international waters. Meanwhile, in case foreign warships appear, or even other countries and military alliances decide to hold their own drills in those geographical points, there will just have to be more carefulness applied to make sure that no ships ram into each other or accidentally fire at each other.

Organization of Island States meeting set for October 15th

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 51st annual meeting of the Organization of Island States (OIS) has set its meeting for October 15th. This year's conference will be have several items of discussion on its ticket, including Layfet's accession to the Ventismarian Union and economy, beach upkeep standards, action on climate change, and land reclamation. Despite the failing economy and closed Layfetian government, no Meeting of Consultation of Ministers of Foreign Affairs has been called for by any of the member states.

It sure seems like the OIS will have a lot on their plate to tackle this year as the organization hasn't tackled climate change since 2006 and more so with the recent shutdown of the Layfetian government which has caused concern across the world. The OIS hopes that whatever climate action that is drafted in the meeting can be presented to the rest of the world. "We hope to create a blueprint" Paul Ewan, Deputy Layfetian Representative to the OIS said. "This blueprint might cause others to act. We are all deeply concerned about the rapid militarization across the world and with wars and exercises being displayed all around, this may significantly impact the climate. We hope that what comes out of the meeting will shock them into thinking about the world as not just a playground for war, but as a place we all need to care about."

The OIS remains committed to providing purposes of solidarity and cooperation among its member states that share similar issues because of their share geopolitical statuses as well as to strengthen the peace and security between island nations, promote and consolidate non-interventionalism in island states, and promote economic and scientific cooperation among others.

General Emér Pârsīná Succeeds General Pártên Câstódél As Commander Of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB)

Today, a ceremony was held in one of the Sunrisian military bases in South Baggnagia, where General Pártên Câstódél transferred his position of the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ subdivision Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN), to General Emér Pârsīná, his successor. The ceremony involved soldiers from Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB), the Joint Task Force (JTF) which is a shared command with the military of South Baggnagia, and even the service personnel of Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN). Although stationed in an exclave that is separated from South Baggnagia by North Baggnagia, the soldiers of SAN could still participate in the ceremony by seeing a live broadcast of it, even if they were unable to participate with their physical presence there.

General Pártên Câstódél said a goodbye speech and wished luck to General Emér Pârsīná in this position. General Emér Pârsīná reflected on the legacy of his predecessor, thanked him for support and later gave his own speech about the willingness to his best at the position. Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér and National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên, who are preparing to return from Creperia today and to get ready to oversee on Sunrisian behalf the MDAA naval drills that started yesterday, have released a joint press statement. In that joint press statement, both officials had thanked General Pártên Câstódél for his service and wished luck to General Emér Pârsīná as successor.

The transfer of the position of the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ subdivision Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN), from General Pártên Câstódél to General Emér Pârsīná, is taking place following the conclusion of “non-drill” military training of South Baggnagian soldiers by Sunrisian instructors, following a new round of tensions with North Baggnagia.

After delay, Unitary Commissioner Christina Anderson denies Soldurs Des requests for numerous top jobs within the Commission

If we recall last month Soldurs Des renegaded on their confidence agreement with the Unitary Government - currently held entirely by the Alternate Liberal party. Montserrat Diegas set out clearly to the Commissioner that should the party and its twenty four votes ever come to favour when the Unitary Government wishes to pass legislation - then the Alternate Liberal party must concede certain positions within the central government. Positions such as Deputy Unitary Commissioner, an office which hasn't been held in over a decade.

Today, the Commissioner announced her and the party will not concede to the current proposals put forward by the Soldurs Des party. After numerous bouts of discussion within the entirety of the Damsmarian Alternate Liberal party, Anderson gave the official position at the doors of the Unitary Parliament. "At no point will our party secede the position of Deputy Unitary Commissioner or any other senior cabinet positions including those of ministerial level, especially - especially within the circumstances of the party demanding the positions not having enough to offer us a simple majority within the parliament here in Aygon - or a party that gave up a previous deal in order to try and get another one which may suit them better. However, I look forward to working with all of our parliamentary colleagues from one side of the political hemisphere to the other in order to continue our work to deliver the manifesto that people voted for."
The Unitary Commissioner opened herself to two questions from S7NN; "At what stage do you believe a Unitary election is the only way to solve the current crisis within parliament?"
"A Unitary election will come as scheduled. We've been elected as by far the largest party in the parliament, we have the largest mandate. Democracy instructs us to try our hardest to deliver the policies and positions that we campaigned on."
"In the past you've labelled Soldurs Des as a fundamentally intransigent party. Is it now you and your party whom are the most intransigent?"
"We gave a very generous position to Soldurs Des within the existing agreement. We've made it always clear, we're open to talking and negotiating but anything better than the deal we had is by common sense and logic - not acceptable. Nobody elected Montserrat Diegas to be our deputy commissioner, and nobody elected Soldurs Des to be in coalition with us. None of it was on the table in the election."

Soldurs Des put out a nebulous statement today almost instantly after the government made its official position known to the mainstream media; The party is disappointed that the Unitary Commissioner has not taken the offer put forward, an offer that would ensure increased cooperation within the Unitary Government - a fairer and more proportionate representation of the differing political views throughout the nation - and most importantly a crucial step to stabilise the nation and share central governance, rather than piling it on to one party and increasingly one person. Soldurs Des will no longer negotiate with the government as it appears that the Alternate Liberal party have not taken any of our points forward.

Anderson has been today very "busy" with the Alternate Liberal party releasing numerous photographs of the Commissioner at work. She has congratulated the President of Sunrisia for the creation of the new Sunrisian constitution, as well as congratulating the new President of the Creperian Federal Republic, Jall Cvicli. Promising to work with the new administrations is hard and the piling domestic issues makes things increasingly difficult for our Commissioner and her party. So, is this political crisis going to make or break the Anderson regime? We ask our political editor Jerene Anrala.

-Jerene Anrala, is this the beginning of the end, or the beginning of the beginning?

What we see now is a government which is increasingly at odds with the parliament it is obliged to respect, and a Commissioner whom seems to be losing energy by the day. When Soldurs Des pulled out of the confidence agreement, it solidified that the current government is permanently unable to pass any law or policy through the parliament. So far, the government has been able to pass only 20% of all legislation it has put forward to the Unitary Parliament in Aygon. It has had better success within regional parliaments, but the increased centrality of Damsmarian governance in recent years has meant that the success at lower levels amounts to much less.

Anderson has very little choice. Should she decide to give in and offer many cabinet positions for Soldurs Des to take, it is almost guaranteed that this will mean even less rebellious MUPs (Members of Unitary Parliament) will vote for any legislation put forward by the government - simply because of the Soldurs Des right wing unionist ideology going down very poorly with the vast majority of the Unitary chamber. If she doesn't cave in, making a majority in the Unitary parliament will be numerically impossible. The Damsmarian Unionists no longer express a wish to form a coalition with the government (instead wishing for a Unitary election) and an increasing amount of independents feel their seats are threatened with upcoming constituency changes.

It looks as if the only two options for Anderson is a) fight a unitary election, or b) struggle on and continue to attempt to reform and liberalise the government and country, without any consent from the Unitary parliament. A rock and a hard place indeed.

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr Holds First Phone Conversation With New President Jall Cvīcli Of Creperia

Image

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr shared a first phone conversation with President Jall Cvīcli of Creperia, who recently took office. President Sâlúbĕr congratulated the Creperian counterpart on his election and inauguration. Both officials discussed the recently-started MDAA naval drills in the region, the evolution of a relationship between the Sunrisian government and the new Creperian government, as well as cooperation in various other areas, both in the ranks of MDAA and SOWEFTA, as well as individually in bilateral relations. Just like he did to Prime Minister Terr Ciramān of Creperia during their personal meeting, President Sâlúbĕr shared with President Cvīcli of Creperia his view that the Sunrisian government and the new Creperian government are more compatible ideologically and in values, when compared to the previous Creperian governments. The conversation emphasized the need to fix the rifts that had developed between the 2 countries in the past, despite them formally staying allies with each other. Nevertheless, the areas that both countries have kept up alignment in, could be advanced even further, said the President. With the political will of both governments to solve bilateral disputes and advance the relationship to an even friendlier level in the past, there is a lot of potential for those goals to be reached. The Creperian state has emphasized that the position of the Prime Minister now ranks higher in the country than that of the President, but the Sunrisian President thinks it is important to create a strong personal relationship with both officials in order for the inter-government relationship to be most productive as well. Nevertheless, apart from the political protocol, President Sâlúbĕr said that he is a people’s person and enjoys creating friendly personal relationships with foreign officials, outside of them being geopolitical “colleagues.”

Premier Algren Heads to Librira to Shore Up Relations

Premier Kai Algren has recently hopped a plane bound for Librira to meet with Premier Ivan Gurov, hopefully, to strengthen relations with the Corentian state. There he'll likely be discussing issues related to trade, education, and travel, as well as support form Librira to secure the EUSR's position within the Eikan Mainland. He will also be speaking in front of the Libriran People's Congression, and would likely touch on the positives of the current EUSR-Libriran Relation. With the current climate back home, it's likely that the Premier will be negotiating hard to bring both socialist states closer together.

However, this is likely only the first stop on a much larger tour as there have rumors of other stops in both Rhodevus and Donghai have been circulating online. Whether or not this is true, it has nonetheless led to the question of why the Premier is heading to Corentia, Dogmana, and Ophion to discuss trade and international relations. One would think that his priority would be engaging in talks with the Ventismarian Union rather than disparate nations in far-flung regions of Sunalaya. Only time will tell if the Premier's new global tour will pay dividends, or if it's just a momentary distraction against the real issue.

Layfetian Government Re-opens, Congress convenes in aftermath

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday, the Ventismarian Parliament passed the highly controversial Foregoing Financial Security Bill (FFS) 300 to 176 with 10 abstentions. This also marks the largest dissenting MPs on any Ventismarian Union bill in the history of the organization. With the bill passing, Congress decided to reopen the government in order to work with the newly created Layfet Development Fund (LDF) which operate out of the World Diplomatic Tower in Tonnes, Layfet in order to manage the $A2.9 billion ($L4.06 billion) aid funds. The members of the LDF board will have to be vetted by the VU, and will be decided latter this week.

Congress quickly voted the Congressional Aid Committee which will coordinate with the LDF to put the aid funds where Layfet needs it most, with Congresspersons saying that they hope the CAC will focus on infrastructure (notably the New Haven - Boggene Tunnel, VU related services, and the Skyward Corridor) and investments into Layfetian bushiness (both state and privately owned). The Aftermath of the recession is not over as the Libfray has significantly has eroded in value and now worth only 71 percent of its value before the recession. This is surely to upset the International Reserve Bank of the Libfray which just finished authorizing the lifting of some currency controls and treasury reserve requirements. Layfetians themselves are also buying and selling less, which has led to a shrink in GDP of 2 percent. The recession still isn't over just because the government shutdown is over. Experts say the recession is still going to last several months.

The Economy has now become the number one ticket item for voters which have further led to further disillusion with the Progressive Party, which at the moment the government reopened say 17 Representatives and one Senator resign from Congress. Deputy Executive Minister and Progressive Party Nominee for Executive Minister also announced that he would pull out of the race with Executive Minister Susan Polster, who also is the current chair of the Progressive Party saying that no candidate will be put forward for 2020. This has significantly put Capitalist Party nominee Anthony Benson significantly in the lead with his calls to radically transform the entire landscape of the Layfetian economy for the better and while Hastings may lead people in terms of social and foreign policy, the economy is the biggest factor in the election so far.

The Layfetian Government has also voted against selling Hallis Atoll to Belantica and voted to keep certain "extra" services of the government shutdown including the Department of Layfet State Affairs - Urban Planning Office, the National Park Service, and the National Foundation for the Arts and Sciences. The partial government shutdown will last until the next fiscal year begins on October 1st.

Rosa Castelliano to invest in other home country

Desarena's richest person, Rosa Castelliano announced today that she invest a lot of her considerable wealth in her "other home country" of Layfet. The half-Layfetian, half-Desarenan model and bushiness women said that "it's about time I looked back home, after I came to Desarena with my mom, I kinda just looked at Layfet as just my dad's country. President Bergmann Announces Smoya to Resume Nuclear Program, intends to "exceed 1,500 nuclear weapons"

The newly elected Patriot Party President, Erik Bergmann, describes himself as the "Savior of Modern Smoya". After decades of relative isolationism, economic sluggishness, stagnant growth, and an increasingly frustrated populace, the Smoyan people have chosen the German-speaking Erik Bergmann as their commander-in-chief, a party hardliner who built a platform on "supreme" economic and military strength. Apparently, his first step along the way is to reconstruct the Smoyan nuclear arsenal, which he described in a press statement as "essential to Smoyan and global security. If not us, then who else?" he asked a crowd of silent reporters.

The nuclear program, although existent, has remained dormant in Smoya since the movement towards isolationism. Nuclear weapons haven't been constructed in decades; the arsenal merely consists of year old weapons that are maintained daily by a secret staff. This a shame according to Bergmann, and a "lasting smear on Smoyan greatness." The President, with the approval of an energetic Council filled with political allies, has diverted increased funding towards this militaristic endeavor. The Department of Defense has stated it will begin construction and modernization immediately while not going further into detail on the nature of the program itself.

Bergmann has been met with criticism from internationalists and some foreign policy analysts alike as they decry the move as illegal. Global Ice, a prominent foreign policy think tank based in the state of Iackland, released a twenty page long argument against the move as "undermining global security". It is stressed that the move would not bode well with the international community, considering global limits on the number of weapons a nation is permitted to have. This would lead to strained relations and a greater mistrust of Smoya worldwide, claimed a coalition of senators several hours ago. Nevertheless, Bergmann has refuted these concerns with a scoff: "the global rules on weapons were not only made without Smoya, but also outdated. The world is changing and power cannot be held by simply a few. Smoya must return to its preeminent status as a global leader and permanent actor on the global stage."

Sunrisia Begins The Withdrawal Of “Counter-Radiation” Special Forces From West Zilveren Berg: ACREFOR Peacekeepers Stay Behind

Image

Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér has come out with an announcement that Sunrisia can finally begin the process of withdrawing the so-called “counter-radiation” special forces from West Zilveren Berg. The upcoming withdrawal of “counter-radiation” special forces was being announced for some time by the Department of Security led by past officials and a past administration. Nevertheless, despite always being described as something “around the corner”, the withdrawal was always postponed. The Sâlúbĕr administration has decided to be the one to fulfill the promise and bring the process to realization.

The withdrawal of the “counter-radiation” special forces is taking place in accordance with SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) signed between Sunrisia and West Zilveren Berg. The agreement was signed by the Sunrisian government and the transitional West Zilveren authority of the Parliamentary Legislative Assembly of the State of West Zilveren Berg, but the agreement is now being applied by the elected West Zilveren government on West Zilveren behalf. Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér said that although the “counter-radiation” special forces are leaving, ACREFOR peacekeepers would still stay behind in West Zilveren Berg for longer, although their eventual withdrawal is in future plans as well.

The “counter-radiation” special forces were originally deployed by Sunrisia during the final stage of the war in Zilveren Berg, when Supreme Leader Rhul Gorm, a now-deceased dictator of Zilveren Berg, unsuccessfully detonated a nuclear weapon on Zilveren soil, as part of conventional warfare, in a final desperate attempt to fight off the advancing 3-nation coalition of Amestrris, Librira and Sunrisia, and save his dictatorship from demise. To counter the spread of radiation resulting from the blast, the specially-equipped special forces were deployed by Sunrisia to its’ Area of Responsibility in northwestern Zilveren Berg, which today makes up the sovereign state of West Zilveren Berg. Amestrris and Librira countered the radiation and conducted clean-up in their Areas of Responsibility. The Sunrisian Area of Responsibility in northwestern Zilveren Berg was not an epicenter of the blast, but the radiation spread still affected the entire small country of Zilveren Berg and could have spread to the neighboring states and the rest of the continent.

After a prolonged period of deployment for containment and clean-up, the command of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF), the Sunrisian Corentian Command (SUNCORCOM) and the Department of Security agree that there no longer is a need for military involvement in fighting the nuclear radiation in West Zilveren Berg. The country can now be helped by Sunrisia in other ways to eradicate the remainder of the radiation, without a need for Sunrisian boots on the ground for that effort. Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér said that the same approach would eventually apply for ACREFOR peacekeepers, who will be staying behind in West Zilveren Berg for a little longer. According to the Minister, once West Zilveren Berg is back on its’ feet a little more, Sunrisia can switch to helping the country rebuild and rehabilitate its’ society in other ways later on.

Apart from ACREFOR peacekeepers and the “counter-radiation” special forces, who will now be leaving, Sunrisia also still has other military personnel in West Zilveren Berg. Those are military instructors, who are helping train the West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF), an independent military of West Zilveren Berg, which is also being armed and equipped by Sunrisia.

Pro Independence rally attended by thousands // ELM march through north Herza Novi condemned by political leaders

A pro independence rally organised by the Montedoran UNP was a "great success" says Ablija Hejkovic (UNP leader), one of those attending the independence rally which attracted around ten thousand people (according to the MPS) in and around central Herza Novi. Carrying Republican flags - the rally was also attended by numerous native Mizkenij and Pizkenij groups. The speakers included numerous famed Montedoran nationalists most notably Devre Mislenis one of the chief architects for the creation of The Seven United, something he says he wished was done differently. Speaking at the rally;

"When I was along with our Montedoran negotiating team at the very turn of the eighties, we made sure to our very best ability that in the new Damsmarian political entity which would unite our nation with the rest economically and socially, that the will and wish of the Montedoran people would never be ignored again. That come the hour, if our people wished - we would be allowed to strive a future for ourselves as completely free nation. Of course, those from the Bailor, Chalendon or even Trident were completely hesitant to our request but with the spirit and will of compromise we had achieved our goal. I'm here holding up the part within the Unitary Constitution which safeguards the ability of the Montedoran to leave the Union should its people wish to do so. It is bold and clear, but I am misleading you all. This is the Unitary Constitution that was enacted in 1982 - it is not the current document. Instead the current constitution as amended in 1995 changed the wording, and spat in the faces of those who wished even simple autonomy. Even then after the numerous bouts of crisis that hit the Union from the changes within the document - not limited to the parts mentioning independence, rather we have persevered and we have stuck to our promise to abide by the constitution. If this government followed by the 1995 Constitution, we should be independent right now. A referendum was held, the people have decided in a poll that they want independence. We have a functioning and well oiled democratic parliament in Podzia and a fully accountable regional government. We have voted to become an independent Republic - the democratic mandate is crystal clear. I wanted a Union which worked for everyone, which safeguarded the autonomy and independence of the nations within it. Instead the Seven United has manifested into a political country that works to strangle its states of their autonomy and freedom with its own forms of bureaucracy and tape. I apologise to you all that I hadn't done enough on our part to bring about more safeguards to stop this corruption of The Seven United. To stop the French speaking bureaucrats in Aygon from hijacking the system to suit their neo-liberal need to run our countries to the dirt. To evaporate our manufacturing, to leave the people not only of Herza Novi behind, but all the working people of Damsmar behind. Now we all know that it is no longer an option to fix the system. We must leave it, and leave we shall do or die!"

The peaceful rally concluded with no breaches of peace, law and order disturbances or medical incidents even as a smaller pro-Unionist rally occurred a mile away in Nere Square. With the success of this rally, organisers have been emboldened to put forward a date for the "Great Montedoran March for Independence" which will begin from Podzia down to Aygon. The controversy surrounding this march however means that it has had to jump through numerous legal hoops before it could happen. It now looks as if those hoops may be ignored by an increasingly emboldened pro-independence movement.

In other news, almost all political leaders throughout Herza Novi have roundly condemned a daytime paramilitary march through Hotas District, attended by hundreds of local residents. It is believed over twenty men and women dressed in paramilitary garments, with those at the front carrying revolutionary Montedoran flags and others carrying automatic rifles. The parade and show of strength was believed to have been carried out by the ELM "Ejército Libertador de Moncedor" paramilitary group whom is also believed to have shut off Hotas district using numerous volunteers in order to prevent police response. The MPS has released a statement

"Yesterday afternoon we received numerous reports of an illegal and armed paramilitary march going around Hotas District and Calle Hotas. We utterly condemn this attempt to terrorise the local community, and will continue appeal for information of those involved. Early investigations and reports made us believe that the paramilitary group involved was the ELM and this would be in keeping with the known paramilitary presence in the Hotas area. In all situations we attempt to gauge the effect of our response especially into areas with a known hostile paramilitary and/or cartel presence. In this incident in which the marchers were seen to have been heavily armed we believed that should the MPS respond, it would lead to violence and an unacceptable risk of life to not only our officers but the general public. Currently the MPS is conducting an investigative operation and appeal to all those whom were present at the parade to contact us anonymously with any information you have. It is imperative that those who wish to terrorise and control communities are brought to the fold and brought to justice."

Ablija Hejkovic quickly condemned the marches and said that "There is no place for criminal thuggery and terror tactics in our society. We do not wait until we gain independence before we tell these people to leave. They must leave and disband now."

The ELM is a proscribed paramilitary terrorist group initially formed in 1994 as a splinter faction of the MIS, the largest insurgency group currently active in Montedoran. The ELM is often known as the smallest but most organised and well equipped faction involved in the Montedoran terrorist campaign, the Hotas area in Herza Novi is one of its last strongholds in the country in which it still exercises huge influence. The ELM is implicated in 27 killings and 85 injuries since its creation. It has decreased in activity in recent years due to logistical issues including increasing feuds with other drug cartels as well as heavy infiltration from security forces.

Empire Welcomes New Chancellor and Victory in the DCZR

Image

Freie Reichsstadt Engelberg, Englean Kaiserreich – In a surprising turn of events out of the capital, it has been confirmed that the office of Imperial Chancellor has been passed on to an appointed successor. Earlier this year, former Imperial Chancellor Generalfeldmarschall Reinhold von Kluge had suffered a major heart attack that had incapacitated him in his duties of chancellor. This resulted in the appointment of a temporary position of Staatsbefehlshaberin being granted to Freifrau Katrine von Tatthausen-Bellwick, serving as an interim chancellor. Unfortunately Chancellor von Kluge's status had degraded, and it was determined that it would be impossible for him to resume duties as Imperial Chancellor. Due to this, von Kluge had resigned his position and submitted recommendations for possible successors. Ultimately the decision was up to His Imperial Majesty, who released his choice for chancellor earlier this week. The choice was former Minister President of Prussia and Außenminister Fürst Rupprecht Eckhardt von Scherzinger. von Scherzinger is a well-known politician within the Empire, known for his conservative nature and anti-communist policies. However, he is also known for his internationalist policies - including the push for the Kaiserreich to develop the Association of Cooperative International States for further cooperation between Sunalayan nations.

The New Imperial Chancellor's ascension to power was confirmed today with the official swearing-in ceremony before the Reichstag and His Imperial Majesty. Each newly-appointed chancellor is required to deliver an oath of loyalty and dedication to the Englean nation, people, emperor, and finally swear to this dedication and loyalty to God through a small closing ceremony delivered by the head of the Englean Imperial Church. Following the ceremony, the new chancellor is permitted to acquire his new position as assistant head of the government. von Scherzinger has stated that his first plan of action was to formally settle the events in the DCZR, following the ACIS victory in that nation. Currently it is planned for the DCZR to be split into reconstruction zones, so that different systems may be placed to see which is the most efficient and functional for a following sovereign Ziamban state. This decision is set to be discussed and voted upon in the ACIS Central Council in Talvistova later this week.

Following the goals in the DCZR, von Scherzinger has also stated that he wishes to further relations with the Ventismar Union to better connect the two economies. Currently, VU-Englean relations are relatively neutral and there are not any policies of note regarding relations between the two entities. The Chancellor is set to meet VU President Anthony Hubris sometime this month to discuss a potential economic deal.

In regards to Corentia, the new Chancellor has made it apparent that he wishes to pursue a "better settlement" within the Englean-Sunrisian rivalry that has divided the continent between east and west. von Scherzinger has stated that he wishes to meet with Sunrisian President Válîd Sâlúbĕr on the topic of Sunrisian-Englean relations as well as the well-known topic of the Weniges Reich. It is assumed that the Chancellor has a possible plan which includes a settlement between the Kaiserreich, Sunrisia, and the Occupied Territory of Daredland to confirm the sovereignty of the Weniges Reich. Recently, Weniges Minister of the Interior Friedrich von Schäfer had declared the nation's wish to integrate with the Kaiserreich. It is believed that the Chancellor will be discussing the possibility of allowing this integration, or recognising the independence of the Weniges Reich without the necessity for an armed conflict.

Concurrently, the Chancellor is also expected to make a visit to neighboring Smoya to engage in discussion about the possibility of the latter nation to join the ACIS. A recent statement by Smoyan president Bergmann invited Eastern Corentian nations to engage in movement to Eastern Corentian unity. Currently, a majority of Eastern Corentian nations have a membership within the Association of Cooperative International States. It is expected for the Chancellor to offer President Bergmann a Smoyan membership within the ACIS to join the free-trade association within the ACIS and potentially the military association as well. However, the Chancellor has warned against the Smoyan president goal of achieving "over 1,500" nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons have already created a complicated situation on the Corentian continent, and von Scherzinger wishes to prevent any further tensions developing between Western and Eastern Corentia due to these weapons.

In regards to the DCZR, the GKSeK and other members of the ACIS are celebrating a victory within the nation and a successful liberation of the people of the Zambian nation from their oppressive Ad-Idi regime that reigned prior to the invasion. General Ad-Idi had indeed been captured by a patrol of members of the Rhomaion, Taoist and Talvistovan armies during a friendly competition. Reports have not come out about what this competition was, but anonymous sources have stated that the three groups were "racing" their armoured vehicles down a Ziamban road when they encountered a crashed vehicle which contained an unconscious President General Ad-Idi. The former dictator is currently being held within the former DCZR capital, which is set to become the centre of the Zambian Reconstruction Zones. These zones are set to be split between the invading nations, with the Englean Kaiserreich retaining the area containing Mizuesenberg, Talvistova Leewklip and the southern region near the city, Romaikos the northeastern portion surrounding the capital of Nieuw-Arkasdam, Shastara Leewhoesville and surrounding area, and the Empire of the Tao the southeastern portion of the nation. These zones have not been confirmed, and are awaiting voting by the ACIS Central Council.

Libfray Continues to Dip Amid Reserve Bank Lethargy; Questions called about effectiveness

Libra
The Libfray's value in relation to other currencies in the world, in particular the Aurei, has called into question the value of its establishment. Libfray Reserve Bank Officials have been meeting in Libra and electronically over the past month discussing and enacting various measures to stop the currency's fall from grace. Fears amid everyday Librirans as to the future of the economy have grown in the mean time. Leading to calls in the People's Congression to either put pressure on the organization or to bypass it entirely. These calls for now, have remained limited to only a few representatives, but are indicative of a growing distrust in the Bank. The Representatives' argument is that the LRB is too slow to act, and that the People's Exchequer, if it were once against allowed to act independently would have a solution in place. Others argue that such a move would destroy the LRB and any economic benefits would be lost in the further confusion of another currency shift.

The Secretariat of Statistics and Oversight has reported that the Libfray's Value has plummeted over 7% since this crisis started. Worse still, it appears to have gathered an inertia of its own, as it continues to drop since the Layfetian Government re-opened their government. The LRB's announcement of a measure to lower interest rates, and increase printing in Layfet, have given hope, but their effect remains to be seen as they are being carried out by the Regional banks. The People's Exchequer also announced today along with the recovery plan that they would be withholding their printing allowance, to allow a higher reserve in their bank for the other banks in the country, and there is Indication that the Layfet Department of the Treasury would do the same.

The LRB also proposed plans to Peg the currency, awaiting approval from the other national bank heads. The plan calls for the Libfray to be pegged in Percentage value to the Aurei, to further stabilize the currency, and to ease Layfet ascension into the VU, and economic integration with the multi-national powerhouse. This matter is expedited to be discussed in depth, particularly if the currency continues to falter.

The continued fall of the Libfray has had more effects upon the trading markets of Librira, essentially bringing the trading of Syndicates to a halt, and causing many of even the most popular trades to drop in value. SoSO has estimated that the Libfray is now at only 71% of its pre-recession value, as a result many of the export syndicates have had trouble coping and have had to take loans from the People's Exchequer to keep their heads above water. Additionally mining Syndicates have been hit hard, as loans for mining equipment comes due and yields due to lower exports put them between a rock and a hard place. Already one syndicate; Lura Mining has had to sell some of their claims to remains solvent. SoSO predicts that potentially upwards of 50,000 jobs are at risk if the current economic conditions continue or worsen.

EZBOA prepares to Pack it Up; East Zilverenberg self-determinant again

Grano
After months and indeed years of preparation, the first of hopefully many successful ballots have been cast in an election in East Zilverenberg. The elections took place amid heavy security from Libriran and EZB militia's to ensure the elections were not interfered with by armed groups. The first series of elections established a sort of interim council that would shape the new government, which is reaching the final stages now, of ratifying its new constitution. Its new constitution includes democratic elections every 5 years, 3 separate branches of government and a full battery of rights, such as free speech, freedom of religion among others.

The EZBOA, who has been providing advisory and logistical support to the fledgling state, has said that the constitution is almost completely finished, and awaits minor edits, proofreading and final ratification. After it is ratifiied the current council will be disolved as mentioned in the documents introduction, and a new government will be elected as soon as possible. Already numerous political parties have formed, and have begun campaigning in preparation for the coming political awakening. The current front runners appear to be the party 'Mass Centre' which is a left-centre party, of moderates, 'Rot Front' a far left party of socialists, and 'Zilverenbergian Republican Council. MC and RBC each are polling at 35% with RF bringing up the rear.

The Occupational Divisions have reported no major politically related incidents during or since the election, though a new band of brigands have been causing trouble in the coastal regions, painting graffiti and breaking windows. The EZBOA has reported that it expects to begin its withdrawal by the end of the year, and has already begun to prepare high priority units, such as engineers and others for transport back home. The PAWP has reported however, that withdrawal could potentially take up to 2 years if problems arise, or if heavy equipment needs to be brought back. The EZBOA has sent a representative to the People's Congression to request that certain heavy equipment be left behind and either sold to the new regime or donated to them, to save on costs and time required to bring it back otherwise.

Minister of Defense Miikka Koivu greets the 1st Parachute Regiment in the DCZR city of Willemsberg, the unit's ultimate objective

AS of August 24th, 2019, the Democratic Central Ziamban Republic has officially capitulated to ACIS Coalition Forces. This comes after the fall of the capital of Nieuw-Arksdam mere hours after the fall of the secondary capital of Leewhoesville, which fell to Englean-Talvistovan forces the prior night.

The news came just 18 days after Talvistovan paratroopers landed in the city of Leewkip, the official start of the war, making it the shortest war in Talvistovan history by several months. As soon as the news broke, the official order was given to withdrawal all of the Royal Expiditionary Force, which included the 1st and 2nd Parachute Regiments, the 1st airborne armor, and elements of the 33rd Royal Guards. They arrived home to a massive amount of fanfair, including a parade in Ljustad the day after they came home. It was not good news for all military families, however, as the order was given simeaultaneously to deploy the Royal Occupation Force, made up of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Guard Regiments.

General Staff Applauds United Democratic Republic of Smoya

An MIRV (Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles) Test

In light of recent news from a long time ally of the Unitary Representative Stratocracy returning to the international stage and reconstituting its military capabilities, the General Staff has voiced its support of the Democratic Republic and has been cited as looking forward to greater future cooperation between the two nations. The Commander in Chief has also suggested that Smoya would make an excellent addition to the Assembly of Sovereign Nations once the organization is finalized and established on the island designated by The Dictatorship as PK Island. Some have voiced concerns that, with the long time reclusive nation becoming more internationally active again, that it may easily be pulled into a conflict abroad which would require military involvement of The Dictatorship based on "old treaties" despite the General Staff indicated that, while every step will be taken to honor those treaties, it is unlikely that the resurgence of The United Democratic Republic of Smoya will lead to an armed conflict any time soon, and that perhaps this resurrection of international interest may even help to stabilize the global political conflicts abroad.

While we at P.O.D. International Broadcasting have yet to receive any solid confirmation, it is being rumored throughout the P.O.D.A.F. that the General Staff have every intention on working with Smoya on rebuilding and otherwise rearming its unconventional weapons arsenal, a move that is believed to be in the works for the purpose of "ensuring mutually assured destruction that will keep everyone's hands off of the button". A theory very much supported by the P.O.D. military's doctrine of providing peace through means of superior firepower. General Knochenmus has been cited as stating the following:

It will be good to have Smoya active on the international stage once again, because it is always good to have a reliable ally capable of keeping us in check, a nation we can rely on to ensure we do not become a tyrannical and imperialistic regime further down the line, while at the same time being a nation that will be ready to assist us when we find ourselves in need. And that same nation can rest assured that we will always honor our treaties with them, and they can also rely on us to offer our assistance and aid whenever called on to do so.

The news of the long time ally's intent to improve its own arsenal came just hours prior to a test of a new ICBM design, which has been demonstrated as carrying eight individual warheads in comparison to the five that would be normal for MIRV ICBMs operated by The Dictatorship. This has been stated to be an area P.O.D.A.F.M.C. has been lacking in, according to some sources, with previous designs being focused on guaranteed delivery rather than quantity delivery. The guaranty of delivery coming from the implementation of countermeasures on the ICBMs, adding weight but making them virtually untargetable by technology guided weapons and defense systems. This added weight, however, has meant smaller payloads, which the Dictatorship is now working to reconcile. General Adds had this to say on the matter: "Our missiles can get through any defense system, but it would only take one enemy missile getting through our defenses to show that their one missile can be as devastating as two of our own. Now it is time to build missiles that can carry as much as the enemy, without the loss of ability to get through their defenses."

With the summer winding down and the weathering cooling most Brovans are returning from vacations and settling back into the working season. However, in Central Bravo Rio forest fires continue to rage on with little signs of stopping. The wildfire season is all too common in the nation, with a majority of them started by human error men and women across the country sign up to fight these fires summer after summer. The widlfire season typically starts in early june and end early to mid august. However this year the fires are still blazing and destroying more than ever.

Most wildland firefighters have typical day jobs and take summers off to fight forest fires across the nation. However, with the season extending and the fires dragging on. Most wildland firefighters find themselves in a tough spot. A majority have already left after their contracts ended and went back home to continue their normal lives while a dedicated few have renewed their contracts and fight the fires head on until they are suppressed.

Image
The fires this year have unfortunately taken many homes down in its blaze and left families with nowhere to live. The fires have also claimed fifteen lives (as of the publishing date) many being firefighters.

With the fires blazing on late into the season the department of forestry has received a massive influx of funds from both legislative efforts and donation. Airborne firefighting has ramped up as of the first of the month and it seems to be extremely effective. However, with limited manpower and the precious ecosystem at stake. Will the fires be stopped anytime soon? Many Brovans are hopeful to see clear skies once again.

New Vesvai Sends Reinforcements To Border Over Suspicious Actions By The Dominion Of Vesvai

Image

The Vesvaian Revolutionary Army has sent reinforcements to the border with the Dominion of Vesvai. The transitional government supported the deployment and approved it after VRA said that the Royal Vesvaian Security Forces on the other side were suspiciously increasing their numbers. VRA commanders said that the Dominion of Vesvai has been slowly building up a decent military posture on the border right under New Vesvai’s noses. It is believed that Vesvai purposefully has been building up its presence and doing it slowly to not get the immediate attention of New Vesvai’s troops. Apparently this strategy has been working because VRA did not call out the Dominion of Vesvai until they started noticing its increasing military presence at the shared border. VRA soldiers say that Vesvai’s RVSF has been increasing the number of soldiers, heavy artillery and aircraft. It now looks like a descent invasion force according to the troops.

The military approached New Vesvai’s transitional government to ask for an authorized response to Vesvai’s actions. In case the Dominion of Vesvai was preparing for an invasion in a sneaky manner then New Vesvai cannot allow itself to be caught off guard. The Parliament understood the military’s concerns and arguments. The transitional government supported a strategy recommended by the military. VRA has been sending reinforcements to the border since this morning. The military is still continuing its build-up now. That is because VRA is rushing to catch up to the build-up that RVSF has already achieved over time. The build-up is happening not with war but with deterrence in mind although the military has to be prepared for anything. The troops may even seek to surpass the number of RVSF forces for maximum possible deterrence of a possibly planned invasion by the Dominion of Vesvai. New Vesvai’s Acting Prime Minister Raio Foranel has condemned the Dominion of Vesvai for its actions.

Vesvai Justifies Its Military Posture On The Border As Defensive Action

Image

New Vesvai’s propaganda has once again made attempt to make the Dominion of Vesvai look like the villain in light of another inter-Vesvai crisis. New Vesvai’s Vesvaian Revolutionary Army has started sending reinforcements and increasing military presence at the common border. VRA is engaged in an active military build-up. VRA has said that the Royal Vesvaian Security Forces have been increasing the number of troops, heavy artillery and aircraft at the border for no reason. VRA never noticed it until today and rushed to inform New Vesvai’s transitional government. Unsurprisingly New Vesvai’s transitional government believed everything its military was saying including the story that the Dominion of Vesvai was preparing for an invasion. New Vesvai’s transitional government quickly gave its permission to New Vesvai’s military to do anything it needs to do. Primarily that refers to starting its own military build-up on the border which could not only match but surpass that of the Dominion of Vesvai. New Vesvai’s Acting Prime Minister Raio Foranel went as far as to denounce the Dominion of Vesvai. But passing through New Vesvai’s propaganda there’s a different reality.

Vesvai’s government said that this is another instance of New Vesvai ruining the image of the Dominion of Vesvai by accusing it of provoking a new tense encounter. New Vesvai is obviously throwing the Dominion of Vesvai bait which Vesvai unfortunately has to take because it can’t risk not reacting. The bait that New Vesvai is throwing to the Dominion of Vesvai are military maneuvers near the border which the Dominion of Vesvai has to respond to. But New Vesvai has also jumped to different tactics to make them seem more obvious. The government admits that the current build-up on the border was indeed started by the Dominion of Vesvai but it was provoked by New Vesvai. Vesvai’s National Intelligence Agency informed the military and government that it had a reason to believe in New Vesvai’s preparation for an invasion. That information was presented to the military and to the government separately. Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit arranged a personal meeting with Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal to design a responsive strategy. They agreed that before Vesvai can even try to attack the Dominion of Vesvai should surprise the neighbor by reacting in advance. The reaction provoked by secret information from New Vesvai would be something that the neighbor would not expect. It would also showcase the power of intelligence agencies in the Dominion of Vesvai and encourage the southern neighbor not to plot aggression behind Vesvai’s back. But New Vesvai has still found a way how to spin this in their way and make the Dominion of Vesvai look like the bad guy again.

PM Jonathan Mollisal reacted with what was seen as more than appropriate response: “[N]ew Vesvai, if you think that your repetitive provocations will stain our image, think again. You think that we will be concerned by the fact that your propaganda antagonizes us but we are not concerned. We will continue to react to your aggressive military moves and secret military plots that our intelligence agencies can find out. You will not be able to fool us or manipulate us. You make a move and we will react appropriately. We don’t care what your propaganda says about our nation because we put our security above our image. You should also abandon illusions that you can catch us off guard. You think that because you just underwent a revolution we have let down our guard because we think that you’re weakened? We aren’t that naïve. We are always ready for you and have always been. PM Raio Foranel, you have denounced the Dominion of Vesvai? Well I denounce New Vesvai for all that you do. It will come back flying at you like a boomerang. You won’t be able to keep this up for long.”

Congress of National Sovereignty decides to replace Foreign Minister Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt and Defense Minister Vojtech Wylem Betnar with successors

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt and Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar were apparently right about their future in their respective positions. After their hearings the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia has decided to replace both cabinet officials with successors. Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt said he did not want to go personal but he wass especially harsh when talking about the Foreign Minister and Defense Minister. The Chairman said that South Baggnagia cannot afford to have Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt and Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar hold these key positions further because South Baggnagia needs best diplomacy and best defense in the position it’s in. The Congress concluded that someone else would do better in these offices in this time when North Baggnagia is becoming increasingly belligerent under Marshal Jan Tillich. Chairman Gustav Feldt personally attacked Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt and Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar b personally calling them “expats from the previous regime.” The Chairman explained that this saying may sound aggressive but he doesn’t intend it to be that way. The Chairman said that the main point is for the Congress to effectively “clean house” and get fresh new people into key offices. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt and Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar were the only officials that served in the previous government to be part of the cabinet formed by the Congress of National Sovereignty.

United Confederal Assembly will not to vote on the question of demarcation with the break-away Hasperan Republic

Image

The United Confederal Assembly of the Daredi Confederation will not be holding a vote concerning demarcation of an unofficial border with the break-away Hasperan Republic. Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan has managed to convince both chambers of the United Confederal Assembly to not rush a vote on this question. Potesinan spoke in front of the lower house National Council and the upper house Council of States to convince them separately. Potesinan’s attempt worked and he managed to get a consensus from the United Confederal Assembly which supported his side of the argument. Potesinan was helped out by fellow party colleague Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People of the Daredi Confederation Andrea Färber. She also spoke with members of the National Council and the Council of States supporting Potesinan’s position. Both officials did not find support from Confederal Minister of Home Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Karl Weiß who was not convinced by Potesinan and Färber on the issue. Even after multiple meetings the view of Weiß still differed from Potesinan and Färber. A true rift developed between the officials on this issue. Weiß even went as far as to speak before the National Council and the Council of States himself to convince them not to listen to Potesinan’s and Färber’s argument. Weiß wanted for the United Confederal Assembly to instead consider demarcation with the secessionist Hasperan Republic as a temporary solution. In the end the United Confederal Assembly sided with Potesinan and Färber over Weiß.

Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation Franz Potesinan argued that agreeing on a demarcation between the break-away Hasperan Republic and the rest of the Daredi Confederation would be the first step towards recognizing the secession of the Hasperan Republic. This creates an existential threat with a list of multiple problems for Daredland. Recognizing the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic should be out of the question according to Potesinan because the independence was declared by a separatist regime that seized power and declared independence without consent from the people there. It should not even be mentioned that the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic also did not go through the proper procedures of exiting the Daredi Confederation. The seizure of power and secession without consent can set a dangerous precedent in Daredland and even cause the nation’s collapse. There is also a moral dilemma included over the repressions and execution of opposition that the Hasperan leadership has conducted. Potesinan argues that negotiation is still possible and necessary but agreeing on demarcation is a major concession that can’t be considered. Confederal Minister of Home Affairs Karl Weiß opposed Potesinan by saying that establishing customs with the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic can lead to better security for the rest of Daredland and a better transfer of humanitarian supplies to the Hasperan Republic. According to Weiß the customs could also be used as good checkpoints for refugees to come to Daredland from the Hasperan Republic. Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People Andrea Färber denied the claim by Weiß. She said that the flow of refugees from the Hasperan Republic is already happening without customs and that demarcation would have much effect on Daredi security. Färber thinks that a different method can be found to deliver humanitarian supplies to the Hasperan Republic by land without customs and that the Hasperan leadership can be persuaded to agree to it. The National Council and the Council of States weighed both options and chose to agree with Potesinan and Färber over Weiß. Potesinan said that a political crisis has been averted in Daredland because there’s no telling how the Daredi populace would have reacted to such a risky decision. It is likely that the government would have become suspected of sympathizing with the separatists.

General Devicks Meets Untimely End; General Ads Steps in as Interim CINC

~P.O.D. International Broadcasting

Earlier today the Commander in Chief, General Nathaniel Devicks, was found dead, along with the four P.O.D.H.G. personnel on his protection detail, inside of his ground transport vehicle. While details on the deaths have been classified for purposes of the investigation, it is believed by some that a nerve agent may have been responsible. The investigation has, so far, pointed to several potential culprits including several historically hostile nations and several well organized international terror organizations. The P.O.D.H.G. and P.O.D.I.M. have not released any statements on the means in which the attack was carried out, though it has been marked clearly as a purposeful attack and not a mere accident. As of the time of this broadcast, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The convoy escorting General Devicks back to the N.C.C. came to a final halt shortly after the vehicle the Commander in Chief was in radically changed course and drove through a concrete median before rolling and coming to a stop in the opposing ditch of the six-lane highway. It was not long after the convoy halted to secure the area that a P.O.D. Army Medical Corps medical transport helicopter arrived on scene and airlifted the bodies to nearby Laurenz Memorial Hospital for examination. Shortly after the accident, it was revealed that all five persons in the vehicle became incapacitated before the accident and that they survived the accident without sustaining any serious injury, though died shortly after due to "other external influences." With the nature of the death of General Devicks being investigated, the selected replacement for the position has been considered a suspect in the investigation and General Devicks has instead been replaced temporarily by General Ads by the General Staff, who will remain the acting head of state until the selected replacement has been cleared of suspicion or has been found guilty of participating or supporting the act that resulted in Nathaniel Devicks' death.

As his first order of business, General Ads has publicly announced that The Dictatorship's biological and chemical weapons stockpiles will be actively reduced to less than half of their current size.

"It is quite apparent that regardless of who we trust or do not trust with these, biological and chemical weapons are little more than indiscriminate and merciless equal opportunity killers, some of which are so needlessly painful as to make radiation poisoning a preferable death and some of which are so quick as to kill before there s time to react, and these weapons never stay where their use is employed, ensuring collateral loss of life, which is something we intend to avoid. We will be reducing our stockpiles, but at the same time we will not remove them from our list of last resort options. Similar to nuclear weapons, they will remain a tool of last resort."

When questioned about the the effects this situation would have on the soon to come Assembly of Sovereign Nations, it was indicated that the ASN will go forward and this somber day should not, in any way, effect the foundation laying of the international organization.
