Anderson jets off to Capsland as Soldurs Des demand Deputy Unitary Commissioner spot

This morning the Unitary Commissioner's iconic Æ540 departed from May-Nebulou International as she embarks to begin her three day state visit to Capsland, the first Damsmarian state visit to the nation. The Unitary Commission has been hinting at the visit since the very beginning of Anderson's tenure as Unitary Commissioner, it is rumoured that planning for the trip begun prior to the local elections. Her journey to Capsland comes as Damsmarian-VU relations have improved significantly within recent times, the Commissioner making it a campaign pledge to try and bring down barriers to trade between Damsmar and the worlds biggest single market. However while Damsmarian-VU relations have improved, Christina Anderson herself has seen relations with Soldurs Des fall heavily as Montserrat Diegas (Leader of Soldurs Des) renegades on their (sort of confidence and supply) deal with the Alternate Liberal party in order to help form a government majority within the parliament. Soldurs Des did not ask for the position of Deputy Unitary Commissioner when they negotiated the agreement as the party would not go back into government so early after having gave up their power within it.

Today they have renegaded on that position. Mr. Diegas said this to Jerene Anrala today on the morning news; "Our party aren't willing to back any bills by the government until we reopen confidence and supply negotiations. Our part of the agreement was upheld fully, but they completely folded on their side. Going into these negotiations we want to see positions we've outlined within the Unitary Commission opened up, and we crucially want to see the position of Deputy Unitary Commissioner as well be up for negotiation. We are calling for these talks, of course after her time in Capsland, because the agreement we had has become dysfunctional and it is within the best interest of the government that they come to us."

He struck an usually political tone, but the substance of the new position of Soldurs Des will be very worrying for Anderson. Though we do find it unlikely that the Alternate Liberals will give the position of Deputy Commissioner, its likely they understand as do many of our political analysts within S7NN that this is all smoke and mirrors to give Soldurs Des an excuse to try and help bring down the government along with the other opposition parties that voted in favour of a Unitary Election a few months ago.

As many suspect that by this stage the Unitary Commissioner has chucked her phone down the airplane toilet, Anderson will be coming back to Damsmar having to face what will look like a very different political scene not only within parliament, but within the country too.

The Demitorian Weekly

Council of Deputies votes in favor of Economic Reform, antitrust laws.

The Council of Deputies has just passed the Federal Security and Economic Reform Act in a massive landslide. The Economic Security Service is a brand new agency created by the legislation. The ESS is responsible for the administration of the new economic policy called the "Riegle Doctrine," as the idea was sponsored by Deputy Chief Deputy Jacob Riegle, the second highest executive for the nation. The new economic policy finally places limits on several national companies that operate domestically to limit their power over the government. This comes after several corruption scandals caused a regional crisis as companies lost much credibility according to polls run by several news agencies. The EES is temporary, as it is responsible for implementing the new doctrine and recommending changes to the government.

The governing board of this new body will be elected from the populace. Several government departments report to the EES.

Elections will take place in two weeks, with no restrictions on who could run. The six board members will be elected from six districts laid out in the new legislation. Riegle has stated the Federal Criminal Prosecution Service will be tasked with rooting out corruption and oversee elections with the Demitorian National Police and Demitorian District Military Forces.

Rhodevus to Finally Send Diplomatic Staff to Nina Islands

It has been over a year since Rhodevus officially recognized the Nina Islands as an independent nation. In that time, little to nothing has happened between the two nations. This has been considered fairly strange, as Rhodevus is close allied with both Layfet; whom the Nina Islands gained independence from, as well as Rezua; whom the Nina Islands is a protectorate of. Surrounded by such close allies, it would have been expected that Rhodevus would form a strong and positive relationship with this fledgling nation.

Instead, the Rhodeve government has remained quiet on the issue, relegating it to tertiary importance. Two attempts to send diplomatic staff to the Nina Islands, as well as one senate meeting to discuss the opening of an embassy in the Nina Islands, have been tabled due to other meetings running long and the topic being deemed unimportant. Since then, the topic had been forgotten about. That is, until a senator returned from the islands after a visit with his family. Having realized that there was no embassy in the tiny island nation, he brought it up in a morning open-table meeting. After a thirty minute discussion and 10 minute recess, a quick vote was held to send a small team of diplomats to the Nina Islands to open up discussions about the potential of trade deals, and establishing permanent embassies between both countries.

"It is embarrassing to say, but the Rhodeve government has fallen short in regards to the fledgling nation," said senator Gabriel Wullow, the senator who had visited the Nina Islands. "Rhodevus has always been one to recognize and endorse new nations whom have been granted independence, and yet this one nation. A nation born out of our allies, fell through the cracks of our notice. For that, I can only apologize."

A team of four diplomatic staff, will be visiting the islands to meet with government officials in order to make arrangements for further diplomatic meetings and embassy exchanges if agreed upon.

Princess Heir Rushed to the Hospital!

At 5:15pm, Princess Heir Sierra Everen-Abrams was taken by ambulance to Acadia General Hospital. Reports suggest that her water broke during an open-discussion with students at the University of Acadia. The student lead discussions were regarding topics relating to industrial malpractice and how the government could encourage fair play and environmental progress.

"It was definitely during a question on the impacts of the 3 for 1 tree policy," recalls a student. "The princess heir was talking about how she's in favour of going back to a 2 for 1 policy and all that about the pros and cons of the current system and then bam. Right in the middle of a sentence, she stops talking, shuts her eyes and shudders. Then, then she just calmly asks the MC to call an ambulance for her, then finishes her sentence and asks us to email her any further questions we might have and leaves the room."

The Rezuan Empress and wife to Sierra Everen-Abrams is currently in Rezua, but it has been confirmed that she was told of her wife's current state. Whether she will arrive in time for the birth itself.

A Sit-Down With the Queen

The Rhodeve monarch, Queen Diana Wolff, has weighed in on the strange situation in the Kingdom of Lylhorion. The parliament and monarch of Lylhorion are in a stalemate, as the young king has dismissed the prime minister and most of the sitting members of parliament, calling snap elections. This was due to parliamentary votes to restrict the monarch’s power and authority, granting more to his uncle. These political clashes continued with parliamentary efforts to remove the king entirely.

Most of the issues surrounding the monarch, are a result of his young age, having had ascended the throne at the age of eighteen. Many critics believe that someone so young could be disastrous to the small nation and could lead to a breakdown of traditional ways of life and government funded programs which were supported by his father.

Queen Diana sat down to speak with this reporter on the Lylhorion situation as a whole, especially regarding the young king. Here is the dialogue in full.

Interviewer: “It is a pleasure to speak with you, your majesty.”

Queen Diana: “It’s no trouble at all. And please call me Diana.”

Interviewer: “I shall. Let’s get into it shall we? Diana. Lylhorion is a Commonwealth nation. Has been since the start of the Rhodeve Protectorate Program and on to this day. As such a long-time member, does this political instability bode poorly for their continued membership?”

Queen Diana: “No, I do not believe so. A few weeks or months of instability is not a valid reason to remove someone from the Commonwealth. The situation between Vesvai and New Vesvai was tense, but Vesvai is still a proud Commonwealth member, despite the issues plaguing it. Rezua and Rhodevus both had militant conflicts in our recent pasts, and yet we are still Commonwealth. Molenston had a war just last year. So, no. There is no real risk of Lylhorion being removed from the Rhodeve Commonwealth.”

Interviewer: “That is good to hear. Because Lylhorion diplomats have requested aid from Rhodevus and the Commonwealth is that correct?”

Queen Diana: [nodding] “Yes is it. Lylhorion’s representatives came with seven requests, most of which were discussed in great detail between both our representatives to come to a more balanced agreement. Most did involve some sort of monetary aid, but when the deal made its way from the discussion table to be voted on in the senate and house, it passed with the changes made by the Rhodeve diplomats involved in the discussions. All I had to do was sign it into being.”

Interviewer: “So, do you personally support the bill?”

Queen Diana: “While there are some small changes I would make to it in terms of timelines and rates, it really isn’t my place to say. Well, it is, but you understand. The amazing members of the senate and house of commons both agreed to it. Reading it over myself, there was nothing big enough to warrant vetoing it or sending it back to the house or senate for further discussion and negotiation. So, I support my parliament who in turn support this bill.”

Interviewer: “And what about funding from the Commonwealth?”

Queen Diana: “That was not discussed in those meetings with Lylhorion, because it is not the duty of Rhodevus to discuss matters in regards to the Commonwealth. Talks regarding Rhodevus are handled in our capital of Kingstown. Talks regarding the Commonwealth happen in the Commonwealth capital of Port Joy. The Commonwealth Senate and the many representatives stationed there by all the countries of the Commonwealth can discuss and vote on granting funds or not. It is Commonwealth money after all and not Rhodeve money.”

Interviewer: “Turning to a bit more of a humanitarian side of things, what is your opinion on the recent reports of water problems in Lylhorion?”

Queen Diana: “It is a real shame. Water is vital to life itself. It’s truly horrid to learn that a country filled with freshwater like Lylhorion has trouble due to their aged and aging water networks and piping systems. While the Lylhorion government is asking for a large sum of money to assist in a revitalization project, I am happy to know that Rhodevus will be involved and be granted joint oversight over it. Ith lives on the line, it would not do to waste resources.”

Interviewer: “And what of the King?”

Queen Diana: “I was truly saddened when I heard of his father’s passing. It was truly a shame that I was not able to personally attend his funeral and for that I deeply and humbly apologize. It is a moment I will not forget having not been a part of.”

Interviewer: “And the new king?”

Queen Diana: “Yes?”

Interviewer: “What are your thoughts?”

Queen Diana: “And what were your thoughts on me?”

Interviewer: “I don’t believe I understand your question.”

Queen Diana: “In 2007, following the James Wars, what did you think of me? Come now, you werea reporter still back then. Tell me. What were some articles you wrote about me in the first few months of my reign?”

Interviewer: “I… I have come to change my opinions regarding what I had once wrote. I do apologize-”

Queen Diana: “Hush now. Why apologize for the truth? You wrote, and I’m paraphrasing of course ‘The Queen is hiding in her bedroom while the issues of politics fall upon the real men and women of Rhodevus. Those whom had fought for this country, for this queen. Should Queen Diana step down in favour of someone willing to do the work?’ End paraphrase.”

Interviewer: “That was pretty spot on. Good memory.”

Queen Diana: “It comes with the job. But, it’s entirely true. There’s a reason the first few months of my reign are called my dark days. Rhodevus had just concluded fighting. General Richard; the very face of my cause had died heroically and tragically and there I was, quite literally a knuckles ruler,” [Diana holds up her left hand to show the missing knuckles] “And now I was supposed to pick up the pieces from amongst the fallout. Let’s get back to your original question. What are my thoughts on the Lylhorion king? How can I have any? How can anyone, really? Is he too young? I was 26 when I ascended the throne. Empress Ymira was in her early 20s, or younger. We were all young rulers. What happened from when we started to now? We learnt. We got better at our jobs. Yes, we made hiccups, I know I made my fair share. But still I knew what I wanted and I pushed for the reforms I knew would make my country greater than it was before. Could I have done anything if parliament kicked me off the throne? It’s well within their right to do so. There are simple measures in place for removing a monarch as well as how to transition authority until a new monarch is chosen. It’s even up on the government website so anybody can read it. If I was removed from the throne because I had only recently found out my father had died, yes, you can bet I wouldn’t be having the greatest next few days. Actually, why bet when the period has been named, as I already mentioned? Do I support the Lylhorion king? Yes and no. He’s young, but that’s not a criticism, it’s a compliment. Young people make change. It’s what’s needed. He is also new. But so was his father before him when he just ascended. Every new monarch is new.”

Interviewer: “So what is your opinion on the Lylhorion parliament trying to remove his powers and grant them to his uncle? Or of removing the king entirely? What about the king’s decision to remove the prime minister?”
Queen Diana: “I think it was well within his right to do so. It’s hard for a leader to try and lead, when someone is stripping you of any influence you might have. And giving it to his uncle? Sure the man is older, but he would be just as new to being a king as his nephew. This isn’t an issue of lineage or succession to me. We’re non-hereditary, I don’t care about royal lineages. But why the sudden rush to grant authority to an uncle, before the young king has a chance to do anything? Why do so in the first days of his rule, as opposed to in a couple months? It’s because the public is seeing him as a monarch for the first time so are nervous. Change is nerve-wracking, so best to strike fast and hard before they get used to it. I do commend the king for showing backbone and removing his prime minister. Let the country and the king grow accustomed to one another. If the monarch is truly as bad for the country as the prime minister thinks, then he will be removed by the new parliament and the people. If not, then he will continue to rule. Will, in 20 years I come to regret this statement if something disastrous happens in Lylhorion? I don’t know, ask the people who supported my brother. It took him only a few months to turn an entire population against him, not even including the fact he wasn’t the chosen heir. That’s redundant. But you see my point? There is both good and bad in the future. We won’t know if the king will one day be known as King Jacob the Great, unless he is given a chance.”

Interviewer: “So I take it you wish to see him remain on the throne?”

Queen Diana: “I do. He’s already doing more in the first few weeks of his reign than I did in mine. We only just spoke about him requesting aid from Rhodevus. That’s a good first step. If he turns into a James, then I’ll pledge to follow the people of Lylhorion. If in the next election cycle in Lylhorion ends with a population who truly favours being a democracy over a monarchy, or even a constitutional monarchy, I will follow the people. But, let it be said here and now that if the only issue you have with the new king is his age, then you are not treating the brilliant youth of Lylhorion and the world with the respect they deserve. There is a reason ‘The children are the future’ is such a common phrase worldwide.”

Interviewer: “And what of parliament’s issues with the king’s sexuality.”

Queen Diana: “I’m not even going to justify that question with an answer. I’ll instead redirect you to my heir apparent and allow her or her wife to answer it instead. Unfortunately, she is currently in labour so will be unable to do so.”

Interviewer: [laughing]“Thank you for your time, Diana. It was a pleasure and an honour to speak with you again.”

Queen Diana: “The honour was all mine.”

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr And Englean Kaiser Talk On The Phone For The First Time: The Topic – DCZR

Agénâ Rûmár, the Media Representative for the Administration of the President, has confirmed that President Válîd Sâlúbĕr held an unprecedented phone conversation with the Englean Kaiser. This was the very first and only direct dialogue held between Sunrisian and Englean leaders. The topic that has led to such an exchange was the situation in DCZR, where the Englean Kaiserreich and several members of ACCIS or ACIS, had launched a military operation against the country with vague final goals. The Sunrisian Naval Forces have been patrolling in the international waters near Ziamban in pursuit of tracing out potential humanitarian corridors and other routes that could be used for the transfer of aid to DCZR civilians, as well as a relocation of refugees from the war zone.

Earlier before, a National Defense Council meeting was called up to once again discuss the humanitarian crisis in DCZR. National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên had warned President Válîd Sâlúbĕr that a second National Defense Council meeting would have to be held on the topic of DCZR, focused on the humanitarian situation in the Ziambani/Aethiopian/Sunafrican country. National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên urged the President to hold this meeting as soon as Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek of West Zilveren Berg completes his state visit to Sunrisia. President Sâlúbĕr abided and the meeting was gathered soon after the foreign visit was completed. This was a second such meeting dedicated to DCZR by the National Defense Council.

Following the phone conversation, Spokesperson for the Department of International Relations Elén Spêctrá-Fâmína stated the following:

Any humanitarian cooperation that might be agreed upon by the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and the Englean Kaiserreich on DCZR would be exclusively focused on that particular country. It would not have any relation to the situation on the Corentian continent, for better or for worse. The status quo remains. This would remain and isolated situation.

In other news:

  • President Válîd Sâlúbĕr signs into law individual sanctions against the government of New Vesvai and an arms embargo on DCZR.

Navy To Increase Patrols Around Nanseihoto Due To Raised Tensions
Tensions have again been raising over the waters south of Ziamban, only adding to the general conflict of that particular region. This time, instead of The Bohin trying to wipe out Molebston, it’s The Bohin trying to exert its lavish and possibly illegal control over international straits running about the region of southern Ziamban. Right in the middle of this region sits the archipelago of Nanseihoto, islands under the flag of the United Queendoms. Nanseihoto comprises of the Belantic states of Yamata and Myorai, the district of Casey Island, and roughly 450 smaller islands that are either territorial holdings or part of a state.

Due to the rising tensions in the region, MPs of the two states have been asking for Parliament and the Queen to allow for increased naval security in and around the maritime borders of the archipelago. This request was fulfilled, and the Royal Belantic Navy (RBN) will be increasing naval patrols and sending 18 warships to patrol the ocean between Nanseihoto and the home islands, while the 20 warships stationed around the archipelago are place on medium alert. Additionally the Coast Guard of the United Queendoms division operating in Nanseihoto will also increase their patrols and will be assisting the RBN if need be.

A spokesman for the RBN stated that the warships patrolling the Southern Lutentian Ocean are tasked primarily with keeping civilian vessels traveling between the home islands and the east safe from any potential threats that may arise due to the current situations ongoing In Ziamban. He furthermore stated that the RBN has been authorized by Queen Karen as of now to board any vessel within either territorial waters or waters within the Belantic Exclusive Economic Zone that is suspected of posing a threat will either be forced to turn around or in some case, boarded and searched, with potential seizure of military grade weaponry or other counterband is found aboard. Furthermore, this authorization allows for the CGUQ and RBN to ram or open fire on any vessel actively attacking or attempting to ram any vessel flying a Belantic or allied flag, which includes warships. “If you’re trying to cause trouble, turn around, or we’ll protect our waters and fire upon you. It should be known that we mean business when it comes to Belantic maritime security, and we have the tools, expertise, and firepower to safeguard our waters and coasts from attackers. Let this be a warning to The Bohin, or any other nation trying to interfere with our EEZ in Nanseihoto, that we won’t tolerate any ulterior motives.”

At this time, it is unknown if the United Queendoms will coordinate with other Rhodeve Commonwealth nation’s on this issue or any other nation not affiliated with the RC. What is know that the UQs will come to the aide to any RC flagbearing vessels that comes under attack or is in distress.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

National Guard And Riot Police In Perloveu Begin Detaining Protesters Trying To Storm Parliament Or Block Its Entries And Exits

The National Guard is now deployed and actively present in cities like Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa and Saunu. Large anti-government demonstrations continue there and keep growing. The National Guard and the riot police keep watching over the events but nothing controversial is happening so far there. Unfortunately the capital city Perloveu is where the first signs of confrontation between demonstrators and authorities are flaring up. Ironic considering that Perloveu is where everything had started and spread from to the rest of New Vesvai. It is also natural that the capital is the epicenter and also where the further progression of events continues in.

The National Guard and riot police in Perloveu had started first detainments of protesters. Crowds have surrounded and attempted to storm the Parliament. The human wave was met with a harsh block and pushback by the National Guard and riot police. This ended with bruises and injuries among protesters. Detainments soon began when the National Guard and riot police began detaining every participant in the attempted storming of Parliament. Mass arrests have been happening without stopping and every felon was targeted. Arrests have also been made of people trying to block exists and entries of the Parliament.

The National Guard and riot police are currently working on forcing away the incoming mass of people that have been encircling Parliament. Detainments of more aggressive demonstrators continue. No rubber bullets or tear gas have been used yet but some bats had to be raised against protesters. The National Guard and riot police have mostly been using physical restraint of demonstrators and shield to push seeking to apprehend and roll back the masses.

Artwingen conference memorandum of understanding: what does the expert think?

ARTWINGEN -- After several days of negotiating, the representatives of Allentyr, Republic of Eikangaard, Ophioneus, Lindenholt, North Rukonia, Makenzie and Athabaska, Capsland and Umbrellya have finally signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the situation in Eikangaard. It took them longer than at first expected, the reason of which remains unclear.

Prime minister Jasper Tulpen told the press that the parties had agreed to send a powerful message towards Kiez and the EUSR. He mentioned that the eight countries had signed a memorandum of understanding about their disapproval of potential nuclear (re-)armament as well as the stationing of foreign troops in Eikangaard in light of current tensions. The complete memorandum of understanding, signed by all participants, was published by the prime minister's office earlier today and can be found at the end of this article. As the prime minister had already told the press, the document condemns any party pursuing nuclear weapons and further offensive troop deployments to Eikangaard. In addition, it calls for the parties to use diplomatic channels such as the United Sunalayan Assembly.

"The memorandum of understanding's call for the use of the USA is a clear message to Kiez. So far the Kiezans have done nothing but sabre rattling while the VU and Ophioneus have constantly tried to diplomatically approach Kiez about the issue. Despite the VU and Ophioneus' efforts, this has failed." says Sander de Rijke, political commentator for the Artwinger Courant. "In essence, the message is: if you don't start acting diplomatically, we will further diplomatically isolate you". According to De Rijke, this diplomatic isolation is already going in to effect. He continues his explanation as follows:
Sander de Rijke wrote:"The most obvious example of this isolation is the entire Layfet situation. While I believe the expulsion of foreign spies and military personnel has a good reason, regardless of relations with Kiez, it can certainly be regarded as a power move by the VU. Right now this affair dominates the news, but we must not disregard the more subtle actions of the VU. An example of which is Rezua, who had good relations with Kiez. Despite this they have openly stated they would not support the EUSR or a Kiezan intervention in Eikangaard. In fact, Rezua has been cozying up to the VU through all of this. As we speak there's a VU-Rezuan visa free travel bill in the works. While of course they have not publicly picked a side, anyone reading through the lines can interpret what is going on here.

Ophioneus, which Kiez counts as a close ally, has responded very coldly to the idea of the so called NLTO alliance. The Ophioneus parliament has, with very good reason, stopped their country from entering in to the alliance. They see that joining such a blatant anti-VU club will ruin any chances of getting Ophioneus access to economic and financial assets that the VU has. Ophioneus realises that neither Kiez nor the other potential NLTO members have what Ophioneus needs economically. Conversely, Kiez is dependent on Ophioneus to make the NLTO work -- because frankly, without the Jasonians the NLTO will not function. I can prove this easily: how many times has the NLTO entered the news since Ophioneus said they won't be joining? [pause] Exactly. So far the only countries that have shown an interest in the NLTO, are countries who wouldn't have access to the VU's market, regardless of being a member of the NTLO or not. Those are the countries who stand nothing to lose. Ophioneus, Rezua and Layfet stand nothing but to gain from a VU-friendly stance."

De Rijke's view is shared by other political commentators. Professor of international relations at Artwingen University, Albert de Lans summarises his viewpoint by saying: "Ophioneus has displayed that they would much rather go in to talks with the VU than go off in to a military alliance adventure against them". Now the question remains if the Kiezans will finally try to diplomatically resolve the conflict at hand.

Unitary Commissioner Christina Anderson Arrives for her 3-day Official State Visit

David George and Foreign Minister Samantha Curie (DP) greeted the Unitary Commissioner at King James Airport this morning

Image

The Unitary Commissioner of the Seven United has touched down at King James Airport and has met with the Executive Chancellor and royal family. This marks the first time a Damsmarian head of government has visited Capsland in an official capacity.

The visit has started off typically with His Majesty, the King, hosting a dinner reception at Burton Palace - where the Unitary Commissioner will stay for the duration of the three day visit. While the visit schedule is largely kept private, the press have received a forward notice of what the visit will look like.

Tomorrow Unitary Commissioner will travel from the palace to the National Parliament where she will address MPs and take questions ranging from Damsmarian tariffs to domestic policy. After the address it is expected that the Unitary Commissioner will travel with EC David George and Prince Andrew to Harllam Castle just outside Port Louis - there they will have a diplomatic lunch and have talks with the Ventismarian Union President, Anthony Hubris who will be staying in Port Louis for economic talks with the Ouraicon President. It is largely expected that while there they will negotiate a base free trade agreement to be further expanded upon and ratified by the Ventismarian Parliament.

The Unitary Commissioner is expected to visit many historical sits around central Capsland however a government spokesman has confirmed that they would not be travelling to northern or southern Capsland - much to the dismay of local state MPs. The sites will include the Old City of Rai - previously visited by Ophioneus President Io - and the Port Louis military dry dock, the largest in Ventismar.

Before leaving the dinner UC Anderson and EC George released a written and verbal joint-statement as per usual protocol:

"The Federal Kingdom and the Seven United stand in union when we issue a condemnation on international aggression. The issues of rising resentment in the East for Ventismarian liberal democracies and the increasing hostility of some regimes in this regard are too large to tackle alone.

Diplomacy and cooperation stand as the definitive weapon against an increasingly volatile world. Both Corentia and Ventismar are seeing a resurgence of hostile nations trying to destroy the very foundations of international democracy, we can say now with full conviction and belief that democracy and the core values of a prosperous life will never falter; will never collapse; will never be subsumed.

The Federal Kingdom and the Seven United condemn any attempts to subvert the peaceful world order at home and abroad and pledge our full support towards initiatives within the USA, PALS Agreement and Artwingen Conference that spur on a new age of peaceful resolution."

Executive Chancellor, David George
Unitary Commission, Christina Anderson

“Fire Wall” Military Exercise In Western Corentia Ends After 1 Month

Image

The military exercise “Fire Wall”, which began on July 1, has ended exactly after one month on August 1. The military exercise involved the armed forces of Creperia, Edereon, The Seven United (Damsmar) and Sunrisia. “Fire Wall” began on July 1 and originally only involved the militaries of Creperia, Edereon and Sunrisia, but the military of The Seven United (Damsmar) joined soon after. All 4 countries remained engaged until the end from there on. Because all 4 countries are full members of MDAA, the “Fire Wall” military exercise has been labeled an MDAA military exercise.

The purpose of “Fire Wall” was the simulated defense of Western Corentia from a full-scale invasion from all sides. The full-scale invasion incorporated land, sea and aerial invasion. Sometimes the participating armed forces would jointly train to fight off a simulated invasion on a particular front at once, sometimes on 2 fronts simultaneously and in other times all fronts at once. The purpose was to have “Fire Wall” be as realistic as possible and further posture the role and function of the MDAA alliance as a shield force for the Western half of the Corentian continent.

Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér spoke to the press on location, as the soldiers of MDAA militaries were wrapping “Fire Wall”:

Everyone was spectacular and as Minister of Security, I want to think our allies on behalf of Sunrisia for joining us in this exercise and helping us make it happen. We are not sure yet, but we might make this an annual exercise, held not necessarily yearly, but once every certain amount of years. All of these decisions would have to be made with our allies. I think that Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA Grán Róbâsta could elaborate more to you regarding the whole bureaucratic protocol of cooperation.

I and National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên have agreed that we will recommend to the President that Sunrisia initiate at least 3 more sets of military exercises and war games with our allies in the region in the near future. We have already spoken about that with the President during the meetings of the National Defense Council and we will likely go back to that topic with the commander-in-chief fairly soon.

The journalists tried to ask Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér if he knew any details about what President Válîd Sâlúbĕr and the Englean Kaiser had agreed on in regards to DCZR during their unprecedented phone conversation, but the Minister directed the journalists to the Department of International Relations on that topic. Minister Spêctér only said that Sunrisian military action regarding the humanitarian situation in DCZR is unlikely and that no new orders have been issued to the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF). The Sunrisian Naval Forces continue their semi-reconnaissance mission from the international waters near Ziamban

In other news:

  • Minister of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá will be giving a statement on what the Sunrisian and Englean sides have agreed on in regards to DCZR during the first President–Kaiser phone call, announces the Department of International Relations.

  • National Guard and riot police make the first move against protesters in New Vesvai.

Editorial (opinion) By Jack Harper: Layfet is Stuck in a crisis it never wanted

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Layfet has never been able to play on its own, despite its unique place being a center of diplomatic power. This power came from being under the influence of the world's mightiest empires and it was them who made us important. From Capsland till Independence, Rhodevus till its collapse, the eastern bloc till invastion, Capsland again until civil war, the eastern bloc again until the USJR's collapse, and finally now under the VU.

While there is no doubt that the end of the cold war would make Layfet more pro-VU, no one expected the aggressive stance that happened to dramatically shifted Layfet away from its former ally. Many Layfetians are divided on the issue as one side claimes to hold onto their loyalities while other claim to act in the interest of progress. This has left the nation fractured and used as a pawn between the VU and Kiez as they did in the cold war. Nothing has changed except the hand that has Layfet.

While this is evidence the cold war has indeed ended, it may turn the situation in Eikengaard hot which may lead to a full scale war between nations at peace, which certainly will leave Layfet devastated. The failure of the Tonnes De-Militarization Summit and other calls to lower military bravado have only failed, which warrents that these nations are eager to fight and test their might. The failure of traditional diplomacy, a tennent of our nation, is a stable of today's modern world. War seems inevitable now.

The only way to resolve this issue is for these nations to understand that their actions are reigniting flames and placing others between them who only will get hurt. They offer help only to convince the victims to their side. The victim moves ahead on their side while the controller can wait their thumbs out more focused on "the important" rather then helping the victims.

the VU and Kiez are both poisons when acting against each other and it only puts the world in jeopardy once more.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

Arrests Of Demonstrators Begin In New Vesvai’s Other Protesting Cities

The National Guard and riot police in New Vesvai’s other major protesting cities have started taking an example from their colleagues in Perloveu. Authorities in Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa and Saunu have also started mass arrests of anti-government demonstrators. What triggered the National Guard and riot police in those cities sounds nearly identical to what had set off detainments in the capital.

According to authorities’ version the crowds of anti-government protesters were preparing to storm municipal buildings in their respected cities in the same way that the protesters tried to storm the Parliament in Perloveu. Moreover the demonstrators in those cities were also trying block entries and exits of municipality buildings. The authorities think that this move against local municipal governments was meant to demonstrate that the protesters were no longer rising up against the central government. The demonstrators were moving against all forms of government in New Vesvai entirely. A similarity of methods also signals that the demonstrators in Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa and Saunu wanted to show their solidarity and support for what fellow protesters in Perloveu were doing. According to authorities New Vesvai’s protests have now stopped being peaceful and therefore the National Guard and the riot police are justified in their actions. Like in Perloveu the confrontation between authorities and protesters in other cities ended up with bruises and injuries but no real harm. Rubber bullets and tear gas have not been used but people have been getting apprehended with force. Mass arrests are happening in eleven cities now that are protesting.

There is an opposition version of events which claims that protests have remained peaceful in those other cities and that the demonstrators did not try to move against authorities like the demonstrators in Perloveu. Anti-government protesters in Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa and Saunu continued peaceful demonstrations near the municipal buildings but no move was made against them. The demonstrators wanted the local governments of their cities to support the protest and side with citizens against the central AIT-led government. The protesters also admitted solidarity with protesters in Perloveu because they were trying to move against the central government based in the capital. And that is the government that the rest of the protesting cities have stood up against too. Perloveu protesters are on the frontline and are directly facing off against the central government. In that way they are fighting for the good of the rest of the nation. At the same time protesters in other cities have not condoned the use of force because that gives the authorities a legitimate right to fight back, detain and disperse the demonstrations.

Hitting back at the National Guard and riot police in their own cities the protesters in Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa and Saunu say that they had been framed. The local authorities accused the protesters in New Vesvai’s other cities of doing the same excessive things as Perloveu protesters to justify the use of force. A same scenario was used that worked for the Perloveu authorities to begin the mass arrests of demonstrators and their colleagues in other cities just needed the same excuse.

National Guard And Riot Police In Perloveu Push The Crowds Away From The Parliament

Back in the capital the National Guard and riot police are said to be successfully pushing the protesters away from the Parliament at a descent distance. This is all happening live. The demonstrators are pushing back but they now that fighting back for real will allow the National Guard and the riot police to use real force then. The explanation for the authorities success are reports that reinforcements of the National Guard and more riot police have been sent to counter the demonstration in share number. An army against an army. The current numbers of the National Guard and the riot police have grown dramatically in a short period of time. The unofficial protester sources think that the manpower is being brought into Perloveu from New Vesvai’s other regions. First signs of tear gas and even smoke grenades have already been spotted in this pushback. Sounds of rubber bullets being fired are also heard. It is apperant that ones the authorities push the crowds away from the Parliament they will barricade the Parliament’s territory in a wide perimeter. Maybe the barricade will exceed the Parliament’s territory even into a wider perimeter which would cause the protests to move into other streets. The main target would no longer be accessible to the protesters.

Terr Ciramān becomes new Prime Minister of Creperia, replacing Ditt Regimēna

National Assembly now led by Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists appoint their own as Prime Minister – Terr Ciramān

Image

Parliamentary election winners Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists have taken over the National Assembly of Creperia. The Liberal–Democrat coalition has finally been unseated and both parties had gone into the opposition. The first order of business for the new governing majority in the National Assembly was to pick the new head of government. The National Assembly elected one of the loudest voices in Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists, one of the most active campaigners and even leaders of the opposition coalition. That pick was Terr Ciramān who has now become the new Prime Minister of Creperia, replacing Ditt Regimēna from the old government. Ex-Prime Minister Ditt Regimēna announced that he’s not leaving politics and would also go into the opposition, maybe even join or form a party.

Terr Ciramān has long been seen as the most logical choice for Prime Minister because of the personal exposure he received before and during the election campaign. Alongside personal exposure Prime Minister Terr Ciramān has also put in a lot of personal effort into growing and promoting Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists, giving it exposure. Ciramān led the Creperian opposition delegation in a controversial visit to Sunrisia, where the delegation had gone for separate talks at the same as the Creperian government delegation did. After becoming Prime Minister today, Ciramān committed to resolving the political crisis in Creperia and fix the government–military rift.

With a new Prime Minister in place, the National Assembly is now busy forming the new cabinet of ministers. Old faces are being replaced with fresh ones. Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists are appointing their own candidates from their coalition as ministers. Prime Minister Terr Ciramān will also be playing a big role in offering cabinet picks. The next order of business for the National Assembly will be to do what it promised would be done as soon as the opposition comes to power – decide the fate of President Karr Gaudēl. It was announced earlier that the President would face a confidence vote at the new opposition-led parliament.

Anti-Government Protests Spread To Four More Cities

Image

Yesterday’s mass arrests in Perloveu, Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa and Saunu was the first major move by the authorities against the anti-government protests around the nation. Granted the protesters did take excessive action by trying to storm New Vesvai’s Parliament in Perloveu and block the building’s entries and exits. The demonstrator crowds were also closing in on the National Guard and the riot police as a human wave. This technically made the officers defend themselves too. An identical scenario was described in other protesting cities but in relation to the city municipal buildings. The protesters were beginning to act inpatient and aggressive for the first time. They were said to have coordinated storming of government buildings in different cities simultaneously and the authorities fought back.

But the anti-government protesters are defending themselves by saying that all of this was just framing from the government side to justify mass arrests. The demonstrators have admitted to excesses from their side and many were not afraid to blame fellow protesters in Perloveu for breaking the order of a peaceful protest. That move untied the government’s hands to begin detaining people. The move against government buildings was a justification for crackdown in Perloveu and in other ten protesting cities. The National Guard and riot police in Perloveu have since pushed the crowds away from the Parliament. The demonstrators are now protesting and rallying in other neighborhoods and streets in the capital. Since this morning the authorities have been building barricades around the Parliament at a large perimeter. Heavy artillery was brought in to guarantee security during process and manpower has been increased in numbers. This has only supported the theory that the National Guard and riot police are bringing in manpower from other cities. Their colleagues in other ten cities have had less luck with reinforcements and have of their own personnel has been apparently removed probably to go to Perloveu. That’s why arrests and detainments of protesters in Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa and Saunu have been more difficult for the authorities but no less successful.

The crackdown was probably expected to result in psychological intimidation. The government probably expected that this would be the point where the intimidation would begin a decrease in protests out of fear. No new cities would join in, no new participants would come and existing protests would start parting ways. But the intimidation tactic has not worked. It led to an opposite effect. The mass arrests have led to four more cities having people take to the streets against New Vesvai’s government. Those cities being Giluri, Dragei, Caraleu and Mailoa. Their addition has now brought the number of protesting cities up to fourteen. For perspective anti-government protests are now happening in Perloveu, Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa, Saunu, Giluri, Dragei, Caraleu and Mailoa. There is no guarantee that this would the peak. It will now depend on further calculation from the government’s side.

Minister Of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá Gives Statement On Humanitarian Action In DCZR Discussed By Sunrisian President And Englean Kaiser

As earlier stated by the Department of International Relations, Sunrisia’s Minister of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá gave the promised quick statement, in a form of a briefing but without questions, before the press at the Presidential Palace. The Minister’s statement was meant to voice the details of an agreement that was reached between President Válîd Sâlúbĕr and the Englean Kaiser during their first and only direct phone conversation regarding the humanitarian situation in DCZR:

As you know, the current situation in Ziamban is the following – a select number of member states of ACCIS and their external partners are resuming military operations against DCZR. As events had progressed, the Sunrisian Naval Forces have moved into the international waters near Ziamban to trace possible routes for humanitarian corridors. Those corridors could be used for refugees to have a safe passage to leave and for humanitarian aid to flow into DCZR for civilians, in a form of personnel, like doctors and humanitarian workers, and various kinds of supplies. In the ranks of the Sunrisian government, there has also been a consideration for “gray zones” inside DCZR that would be possible internal safe havens not touched by the war in DCZR, including regime–rebel civil war and the ACCIS invasion, all happening simultaneously. The only problem encountered by this idea was that ACCIS forces or some of their partners in the military operation against DCZR may have closed the airspace, which would have made it dangerous even for civilian aircraft to fly over that country. So sending any help by air, which seemed to be the most realistic option at that point, did not appear a close possibility at the time. Let us also not forget to mention the regime in DCZR, which is also accused of shooting down planes without warning.

There were 2 meetings held on DCZR in the National Defense Council of Sunrisia. Following the second meeting several days back, an uneasy decision was reached to have the first exchange between the higher-ranking officials of the Sunrisian and Englean leaderships, being that the ACCIS operation in DCZR appears to be Englean-led. President Válîd Sâlúbĕr and the Englean Kaiser had their first phone conversation on the matter of DCZR. A vocal agreement was reached that Englean forces, maybe the forces of other ACCIS countries and other states participating in the invasion, will create those humanitarian corridors and “gray zones”, ensuring that humanitarian aid and a safe escape route for refugees could be guaranteed. Obviously the humanitarian effort will be difficult to achieve in the crossfire, but at the moment that is the best option. The agreement was only a vocal one, but this is a chance for all of us, despite our differences, to show our human side. We hope the Englean side will follow through and request that their ACCIS partners and other countries engaged in the military operation against DCZR will join or cooperate with the humanitarian effort on the side. If the current framework does not work, then we will probably have to go back to this conversation later to work out a better plan. However, until then, let us make an attempt at this one.

Now, the active focus on the topic of DCZR had many in our own country question if a Sunrisian military operation, separate from ACCIS, but also in relation to DCZR would have to be launched to achieve the humanitarian plan and set up the conditions for it. The answer is no. Nevertheless, Sunrisian military personnel could be used to help the humanitarian workers and suppliers of aid. At the same time, that is a dangerous option because of the possibility of a clash with ACCIS forces, so it will be explored with caution. We do not plan to intervene in DCZR militarily. That is something that Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér, National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên and commander-in-chief President Válîd Sâlúbĕr along the line.

Regarding Corentian affairs, the status quo remains unchanged. The Western–Eastern divide still exists and we are not planning to concede or surrender any of our positions that clash with that of the Englean Kaiserreich and ACCIS. Concern for this has been something that the opposition parties have been voicing and criticizing our government over, accusing us of weakness. We have reassured our MDAA allies, including full members and associate states, as well as other partners, that things remain unchanged. We have also made it clear to the Englean side in advance that we are suggesting for humanitarian cooperation in DCZR as an isolated issue, without bringing up anything else that we are in conflict over.

In other news:

  • Non-profit organizations The White Dove (WD) and the Harmony League (HL), both based in Orentan, Sunrisia, have already voiced readiness to send personnel to DCZR for humanitarian work.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

One Of Opposition Leaders Adi Letago Declares A Revolutionary Situation In New Vesvai

Image

Before today New Vesvai’s protests all over the nation have been viewed as decentralized. The government has been trying to trace out the protest leaders because the demonstrations have seemed too organized, scheduled and maneuvered to be without leadership. That was the case when the demonstrations started in Perloveu and is now the case in other thirteen protesting cities. Even the nature of protests among different cities makes it seem like they are all connected. The suspect list has been high. Ex-PMs Kai Placore and Matteas Noran were suspected as shadow leaders of the protests. MPs from opposition parties were suspected of the same after being noticed in Perloveu’s protester crowds. Even Head Administrator Andre Tilicome had fallen suspect. But there didn’t seem to be a lot of proof to support this desperate search for the protest leaders or any of its versions. It just seemed like people were self-organizing. This looked plausible because of citizens from all walks of life taking the set-up stage and speaking to the crowd from a microphone or megaphone. Well it now appears that the government suspicion was right. The anti-government uprising had leadership after all. One of the protest leaders has finally revealed himself by coming forward.

Adi Letago is journalist, radio host and activist from Perloveu who comes from an artistic family. Letago has participated in the protests from the start and was coordinating them with a team fellow protest leaders. They have yet to come forward. Even if the demonstrators knew of Letago existence they would logically keep him hidden and protected from the authorities. Letago has decided to unveil himself so that the government could see him too and not just the public. The bold step was taken so that Letago could motivate the crowds and send a very important message that the whole nation. The government must hear what Letago has to say too. According to Letago everyone must now know of New Vesvai’s new reality. In Perloveu Letago spoke on a stage before a crowd into a microphone:

“[T]he public protest on the street has taken over this nation. Fourteen of New Vesvai’s cities are flooded by a sea of people and it just keeps growing and spreading. The countryside, the towns and villages are now joining the big cities. Vesvaian communities abroad are joining us. We’re all together in an uprising. It’s completely safe to say that New Vesvai has entered a revolutionary state. That is now our reality and our every day. We are going to live like this from now on but obviously we cannot keep going like this forever. This has to end somewhere and it’s clear that we’re not stepping down. Hell we’ve been protesting for sixteen days so we’re not going to let all of this go in vain. The fight continues

At first we only wanted for Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet to resign. But we later realized that Prime Minister Beana Villano, the Parliament and the whole AIT government are part of the same thing as Polvandet. They have all backed their man Polvandet and ignored our calls to remove him. They have ignored our protest and they still haven’t responded directly. They aren’t our government because they don’t care about us, what we think and they don’t represent us. They spat at our faces and had the National Guard and riot police move against us. They’ve been protecting themselves from us. This government all worked together and knew about these illegal leaked plans because they’re all the authors of those plans. It’s not just Polvandet. In united Vesvai the AIT coalition was once a leading opposition force fighting for the freedom of all Vesvaians against the dictatorship of one party. They have led New Vesvai to its independence as a safe haven for Vesvaian democracy. But now they wanted to turn New Vesvai into their personal little dictatorship and reunite with the Dominion of Vesvai militarily under AIT’s dictatorship than VHU’s. AIT is no better than VHU. We should not be surprised because AIT members are all politicians from the old system and from those times. AIT are not fighters for freedom but they’ve just been fighting VHU to get power for themselves. They’re all literally the same AIT, VHU and all the other parties born in the Dominion of Vesvai. New Vesvai hasn’t yet created a new independent and democratic system here that is opposite to the dictatorship in the Dominion of Vesvai.

Time to get rid of the old system. We demand that the AIT-led government resigns in its entirety and give us new elections where we will elect new faces and brand new parties that were born in independent New Vesvai and not the Dominion of Vesvai. This is a revolution.”

Day 15 Of Protests, Going Onto 16: 14 Of New Vesvai’s Cities Are Protesting Against The Government

From dusk till dawn the anti-government protests keep going. People do sometimes leave for home but they go right back in the early morning. More are choosing to build tents and sleep on the street. The “tent towns” are growing in New Vesvai’s protesting cities. They are doing this out of fear that the government might use a scheme to block the crowds from holding new rallies or gathering in protest locations again. This whole crisis began because of leaked plans that the government was keeping away from people. Those plans were criminal and designed to hurt New Vesvai’s people and foreigners for the government’s interests. The citizens no longer think that the government is above using strategy that would take away their right or possibility to self-organize. Protesters are taking precautions for their demonstration not to be neutralized. The people are no longer passive and common citizens are now committed to the cause. The number of participants intimidates the National Guard and the riot police from using any more force than has already been used in pushing the crowds away from government buildings. Instances of arrest are still happening and some clashes too. But overall the gatherings keep a peaceful approach to disarm the authorities of their excuse to use force. In a peaceful manner protesters are going back to their posts every day. New Vesvai’s fourteen major protesting cities are: Perloveu, Litisi, Torema, Orava, Melodou, Atumei, Silas, Guelai, Apelsu, Coastoa, Saunu, Giluri, Dragei, Caraleu and Mailoa.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

BREAKING: Protest Leader Adi Letago Detained For 72 Hours

Protest leader Adi Letago has been detained by the riot police in Perloveu and taken to a local police precinct. Letago has been accused by authorities of calling for a forceful change of government in New Vesvai by declaring a revolution. Letago was detained during a protest march through the streets of Perloveu in the direction of police barricades protecting the Parliament. The riot police moved against the crowd that Letago marched in. The protest leader was due to be arrested for his remarks so the authorities did not need the crowd to do anything violent to move against them. The protesters tried holding onto Letago physically but the police quickly apprehended and neutralized those protesters. Letago is now isolated in a precinct but he still calls on the protesters to remain peaceful.

Large masses of people have moved towards the police precinct that Letago is now being detained in. The demonstrators have vowed to demand for the protest leader’s release. The police were forced to increase the security of the precinct to avoid the risk of it being stormed. In such a case actual violence might break out and fatalities might follow because the police would be offered to open fire in defense of the precinct. The hope is that the protesters will not give into emotion and follow Letago’s advice not to use force.

Earlier the authorities said that Letago would remain arrested until he stands trial for calling for a revolution. Depending on the ruling he might have be fined or jailed. But after protester crowds started piling up near the precinct the authorities have changed their statement. The police now say that Letago has only been temporarily detained for seventy two hours. Dissatisfied demonstrators are demanding Letago’s immediate release and are accusing the police of serving the government instead of the people. The crowd near the precinct keeping Letago has engaged in synched clapping which is a common gesture during protesting.

Demitor closes Demitorian strait to Kiez shipping, one Kiezan ship seized while in Demitorian port

Mckinney, Demitor --- Following the escalation of hostilities by the Ventismarian Union and the Socialist Republic of Kiez, the State Council on Foreign and State Affairs today announced a series of restrictions on Kiezan shipping in the Demitorian Strait, with all Kiezan nationals being expelled from the Union of Demitor until further notice. The Council further established a memorandum for the Demitorian Defense Force, State Military Forces and District Military Forces to mobilize to a heightened state of readiness following the restrictions announcement.

The restriction bans all forms of Kiezan traffic through the strait of Demitor, no matter the purpose, and forbids docking in any Demitorian port for any reason. One Kiezan ship, undefined at this time, is claimed to be held up in the Port of Mckinney. It is believed to have been already docked in port by the time of the restriction’s announcement. Several crew members have been arrested on charges of smuggling and violating a buried Demitorian law about crimes against state corporations.

The National Assembly has been called in for an emergency session to discuss the fate of both the seized ship and the shipping restrictions. Security forces are currently searching for three more crew members, who were absent from the port district out on the town by the time of their fellow crew members arrest. The Assembly will mostly be out of picture for the policy and legislation surrounding the ban itself, as that is the responsibility of the newly established State Council. The legislation establishing the Kiezan ban also abolished the Council of Deputies, replacing it with the unelected State Council, appointed by the Chairman of the State Council. It replaces all executive positions with their equivalents under the new system.

The reasoning for the change in the new law is to model the Ventismarian Union in a fashion. The VU and Demitor have been reportedly in talks to establish better relations between the bloc of states and our country. The details are sketchy at most, though it is known that the government change is part of the deal. As the main economic source of outside income in both exports and foreign investments. The tightening of relations, coupled with the Kiezian ban have reportedly begun to foster even better relations.

It has, however, brought upon a new challenge Demitor has never experienced in quite some time. It may be forced into a war it isn’t prepared to fight. The massive uptick in military spending will ease that preparedness gap, but the technology gap will remain an issue until the National Assembly completed their investigation into what needs to be covered under a modernization program.

A further two Kiezian ships have been reportedly heading for the Demitorian strait, as Demitor has yet to report the new ban to other nations besides it’s largest trading partners in Ventismar. Demitorian Frigates DUS Admiral Shinern and DUS Williamsburg both of the Daunting class, along with several coast guard ships have been dispatched to intercept the vessels before they enter the exclusion zone, WBNS-TV reports.

This is a developing situation, and more information will be posted as this develops.

Rhodeve, General Nathaniel Timmel, Given Highest Honor

~P.O.D. International Broadcasting

First conceived before the formation of the modern Stratocracy, centuries before the communities would come together to form a single government, knighthood Order of Knights of Denmytire has only ever been granted to fewer than two thousand people, only thirty-three of which were foreigners. With so few people having been inducted into this prestigious order, for one to have his or her name among its ranks is considered an honor of the highest caliber and bears with it the rights and privileges earned by only a select few throughout the annals of history, and General Nathaniel Abigard Timmel will now have his name added to this exclusive and rewarding roster.

The following is the citation, as read, by the Commander In Chief, General Devicks

During the early years of his life, Nathaniel lead an average life, spent as any other child would have spent his time during the late 1940s and the 1950s. He lived with his mother, a tailor by trade, and his father, who was employed by as an intelligence operative for Rhodevus, and his two siblings. Being the middle child, Nathaniel was remarked as enjoying watching television and listening to radio broadcasts, as well as being cited to have spent much time playing outside. Joining the Rhodeve military at the age of seventeen, despite the age requirements for the nation being eighteen at the youngest, Mister Timmel began his military service as a cook aboard the HMS Beagle, the flagship of King Isaac. After his brief time as a naval cook, the young man would move on to study military history, strategy, and tactics at military school; knowledge that he would use and further develop throughout his military career to help him rise quickly through the ranks to his current position. By 1982, Timmel would be given a place as an adviser directly to the Rhodeve royalty, King Benner and would later become knighted before the turn of the century for his efforts against the terror organization known as the Bannerless Brotherhood.

And now, for his the action he has taken, as an ally military officer, against our mutual foe; for choosing on numerous occasions to pace the lives of his subordinates above his own; for acting in a manner that inspired others to continue fighting despite ever overwhelming odds; for risking his life in numerous occasions, as an ally howbeit indirectly, for the safety and security of the Provincial Ochlocracy of Denmytire; and for his outstanding record of honor and integrity; Mister Nathaniel Abigard Timmel is hereby granted the title of Knight in the Order of Knights of Denmytire.

Despite his inability to be present, General Timmel, also referred to as Lord General of Her Majesty's Royal Army, Sir Nathanial Timmel, Protector the Rhodevus, Defender of Bentoshi and Mentoshi, Leader of the Warrior Clans, High Councillor to the Queen, and Commander of the Setan Plains; has both our gratitude for his service. Service to both the unified communities and to our allies. And he also has our respect. Along with the trivial awards given as a part of holding this honorable title, General Timmil's name will go down in history as one of the great heroes of his time, and will, from this point forward, be referred to respectfully as Sir Timmel by all of our citizens and will be granted the proper salute of a knight of this order by all present and past and future members of our great armed forces, regardless of rank or title.

It has also been stated that, as per the requisite payment of knights of the Order of Knights of Denmytire, General Nathaniel Timmel will indeed begin receiving his gift of gratitude from the unified government of P.O.D., which is remarked as being the following: an annual award of the value of one hundred pounds of gold (Currently 818,845.65 Credits/1,408,414.52 USD) for life, receive tax exemption through the third generation, be free to travel without restriction (except for travel to military restricted locations), and receive government compensation for all medical procedures through the second generation. As a matter regarding the inability to receive tax exemption, it seems that the government will instead be granting compensation for "reasonable taxes collected by the United Sovereign Kingdoms of Rhodevus."

Several Civilian Factories to be converted for Military use

August 2nd, 2019
Constantinople—With the recent escalation of world tensions, especially increasing VU assertiveness or the ACIS invasion of the DCZR, the Rhomaion Empire has seen a slight increase in militarization. The government has partaken in a series of steps to nationalize factories and transform them for the use of military productions. With approval from the Regent, the Defense and Economy Logothetes have outlined the specifics of what government action will be required to ensure this goal is met. Such action has served a dual purpose in assisting the Imperial military while simultaneously supplying economic activity and employment amidst a recent economic slowdown.

Towards the side of the economy, it is believed that the conversion of civilian to military production will be an effective antidote to the economic slowdown that has hit the Rhomaion economy. Providing employment and economic growth that would have otherwise not existed. Many economists noted that government policies encouraging production in spite of this have effectively forced economic activity where it is unneeded, resulting in the overstocking of warehouses and inefficient allocation of resources. Militarily, it serves several purposes. Amidst war with the DCZR and potential future conflicts, an increase in military production is mandatory.

Additionally, part of it has been a continuation of Constantine XV's plan to update the military with modern technology. While the Rhomaion military is among the largest in the world with a large amount of well-trained personnel, most equipment is outdated. Thus, the conversion of civilian factories to military factories is serving as a catalyst to update the Rhomaion military with modern technology.

Krane wins Progressive Party Nomination! The Race is on!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winning against current Executive Minister Susan Polster and Director of the National Rape Recovery Agency Anne Fitch, longtime Director of Layfet State Affairs Fraiser Krane has one the Progressive Party nominee for Executive Minister.

He won with 67 percent of the vote, while Fitch had 30 percent, and Polster with a mere three percent. After winning, Polster gave a concession speech and said she would promote Krane to Deputy Executive Minister to help prepare him for the office while Fitch gave a speech saying that the Progressive Party will not be defeated.

Krane in his victory speech talked about the VU and Kiez, highlighting Layfet's unique role in the crossfire and as well as Layfet standing as a example of diplomacy. He ended with saying that the Union and Capitalist Parties will destroy the wayward progress of the country.

Krane now joins Benson and Hastings in the race for Executive Minister which will be decided in October. The race is on. The first debate is scheduled is August 20th.

Benson blasted the Progressive Party's choice saying that "nominating a pro-Kiez and anti-VU politician can only spell disaster for the nation and will make this recession hard to pass over" Hastings also fired on Krane stating "Fitch was the most progressive of the bunch, why did they elect the conservative? It makes no sense. The Progressive Party is no longer the progressives they once were."

BREAKING: Protest Leader Adi Letago Released Earlier Over Protester Pressure

Protest leader Adi Letago has been released earlier than planned. Letago was detained for seventy two hours and kept a police precinct in Perloveu. The demonstrators vowed to pressure the police to release him and held endless protests at the precinct demanding Letago’s release. Letago called on the protesters to remain exclusively peaceful. That left a question how exactly the demonstrators might influence his early release if force is ruled out. But it was clear the mare presence of an ever growing crowd was enough to make the police feel uncomfortable. Security around the precinct was increased and the officers were prepared for a chance of being stormed. This could have led to a tragic situation because the police could this time use lethal force for self defense. Fortunately it seems that such a clash was averted. The risk of losing lives was avoided and also the risk of the revolution declared by Letago becoming non-peaceful was also averted.

Now Letago is free and leading the protests in Perloveu’s streets again and calling on every New Vesvaian to join. He is leading marches and protest demonstrations, speaking to crowds from a stage, speaking to New Vesvaians all around the nation and abroad. While doing all of this Letago is calling for the ultimate goal of the government’s resignation. What made the police liberate Letago is still a question but the risks mentioned before could have played a role. The pressure of a large public gathering is also a fair reason. It could also be the first sign of some police defection from loyalty to the government. One of the more famous protest leaders Adi Letago is free again but there is no guarantee he won’t be arrested again.

DE-COLONIAL DAY CELEBRATIONS BEGIN IN OASIS VIGILADO

On August 4th, 1950, Desarena received independence from Gallifa after numerous years of bloodshed, prosecution, terrorism, and revolt. Although these terrible acts occurred during the Second World War, Desarena hosted the conflict at home and with the devastation that occurred back home in Ventismar, Gallifa had to give up its colony. now 69 years later, Desarena is celebrating that independence as it has every year. The country has no ill-will towards its colonial masters, as it entered into a Protectorate Agreement (which in return for economic aid Gallifa is allowed to build military bases in Desarena) in 1987, but still is fiercely strong in its desire to show the world just how proud it is.

The celebrations in the capital are accruing tonight all throughout the nation, but in the capital the "Gran final" will be held in the Fin de la plaza del colonialismo where music, dancing, alcohol, and games will be present. Presidente Martin Ferdinand will be present to give off the traditional evening prayer. Actress Bahavana Luscilo will sing the national anthem, and actor Jorge Enstan will close the event. This is sure to be one wild ride which will see Oasis Vigilado swell in population to just over 600,000 , so be careful when travelling through the city.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

BREAKING: Prime Minister Beana Villano Offers A Meeting With The Leadership Of The Street Opposition

The situation in New Vesvai has gotten to a level where the AIT-led government finally can no longer ignore it. The civil unrest is paralyzing the nation and something must finally be done to get out of the situation. Prime Minister Beana Villano has decided to personally reach out to the protesters on behalf of New Vesvai’s government. She came out with an offer of a meeting where the government and street opposition could negotiate a resolution to the crisis. PM Villano offered her personal attendance and the attendance of Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet. The latter has become the most controversial figure in New Vesvai’s entire crisis and is often accused of being the primary person having caused it. PM Villano offered that protest leader Adi Letago and his associates meet her and Polvandet on behalf of the street opposition. Villano offered Perloveu’s municipal building as a third location for a meeting but was open to other neutral places hosting the meeting.

Protest leader Letago has previously mentioned that the protesters and he personally are ready to negotiate with the government. This makes an agreement to the Prime Minister’s offer an expected possibility. But there is one obstacle that could make negotiations difficult. The protesters made it clear that any negotiations with the government could only be about its unconditional resignation. The stubborn government is not expected to back down either if there is no possibility of a compromise. The lack of flexibility from both sides places a lot of doubt if the negotiations will lead to anything. But almost everyone agrees that it’s worthy to try because options are limited. New Vesvai is in a crisis which needs to be resolved. The protesters have attempted to remain exclusively peaceful and their goal was always to attract the government’s attention. Now that the government has finally heard them and wants to meet the chance must be seized.

The Orheim Admirals will look to repeat as Lord's Cup Champions

Talvistova's favorite national passtime is officially set to pick back up again this week as the Elite League, one of the world's premier hockey leagues, is set to begin play this weekend with a full slate of games, including the one to watch: The Battle of the Foreigners, the annual league opener between the Orheim Admirals, led by the 19 year veteran & Lindian native Justen Boele, who is less than 100 points away from moving into the top 10 in the career leader boards, and the old guard of the league, the Ljustad Ässät. Led by the original foreign born captain, the greek hammer Andronikos Rokoulis. The two teams are one of the oldest rivalries in the league, and it shows no sign of slowing down with the brewing rivalry in the race to the Hall of Fame with Boele and Rokoulis. The season series with these two is absolutely going to be the talk of the league.

Another story worth following this season is the top pick of the 2019 draft who is now captaining his own ship: Pekka Paananen of the Kvingandannes Rangers. Paananen tore up the minors with the New Berlin Polar Bears, putting in nearly 100 points in each of his 2 seasons in the minors, but how will his game translate to the big time? Will his size be able to match up to the much larger competition? How will he handle the pressure of captaining an original 4 team?

On a much more somber note, the upcoming season will officially be played in memory of league legend and all time scoring leader Herman Haapalainen. He was officially pronounced dead after being put in a medical coma after his 8 year battle with throat cancer that he battled just like he did against the Skolsvik Red Wings in the 1970's. May he rest in piece, and may this season be one to remember in honor of an all time great.
