Minister Of Security Vírân Spêctér Visits Amestrris

Image

Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér has arrived in Amestrris on an official visit, following a departure from Smoya after a 2-day visit there. Amestrris, a close geographic neighbor of Sunrisia, would be the final stop for Minister Spêctér in his international tour before a return home to Sunrisia. The Minister is set to meet local government officials, including Amestrrian counterparts responsible for military and defense.

Potential topics for discussion might include the MDAA–Amestrris Action Plan, signed after Amestrris expressed interest in MDAA integration, and further progress within the framework. Another likely discussion topic would be coordination between the armed forces of both countries, especially in the border areas between the sovereign state of West Zilveren Berg and the Amestrris-protected South Zilveren Administrative Territory (SZAT), a proto-state and de facto protectorate. With Sunrisia’s intention to realize its’ military withdrawal from West Zilveren Berg in accordance with the SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) signed with West Zilveren government following a long first stage of the young country’s post-war rehabilitation, Minister Vírân Spêctér will likely ask the Amestrrian side about its’ status of forces in the South Zilveren Administrative Territory (SZAT) and what will be the Amestrrian military’s next move. As stated earlier, the Sunrisian government currently supports self-governance for South Zilveren Administrative Territory (SZAT), like the one provided by Librira and Sunrisia to and East Zilverenberg and West Zilveren Berg. Therefore, the Minister of Security will likely put forward the recommendation to Amestrris to plan for an eventual military withdrawal of its’ own forces from the territory after it stabilizes and manages to stand on its’ own. Currently, the position of Amestrris on its’ plans in the South Zilveren Administrative Territory (SZAT) are unknown, therefore, it is still a secret on whether both countries will come into conflict on the topic.

Minister Vírân Spêctér will also likely be interested in taking a closer look at the state of the Amestrrian armed forces, even with the impressive performance that the military had already shown in the coalition’s Zilveren campaign. The Minister will probably like to share, with the Amestrrian colleagues, advice on further progress in the direction of the military’s modernization and evolution.

Kaiserreich Celebrates 1144 Years; Weniges Reich Calls for Unity

Image

Freie Reichsstadt Engelberg, Englean Kaiserreich – Today all Engleans celebrate one of the most important holidays of the year - Der Tage des Kaiserreiches. This holiday marks the day that the Englean Kingdoms were officially united in 875 AD, ending years of constant war between the states. 2019 marks the 1144th year of the Kaiserreich's existence, giving the Kaiserreich one of the rare positions as a nation that has existed for over 1000 years.

It is common for this holiday to be represented by a huge number of flags of the Empire and its states to be flown proudly throughout both major cities and minor towns across the vast nation. This holiday can also be said to be the one day that all Engleans are at their happiest, with polls taken each year reporting that this holiday shows a 95% increase in happiness and friendliness across the Empire. No matter where you go, you'll find a unique way of celebrating the holiday - a major celebration is the "April Cookout" where families will gather outside their home or in other areas and cook meals over a firepit or grill while watching their local fireworks show. Other families like to gather for the parades that the GKSeK performs on the holiday in major cities, with smaller detachments performing for smaller towns. The largest parade is found in Engelberg, where all branches of the GKSeK will parade down Wilhelmstraße through the centre of the city. Often this parade will involve the SMS Kaiser, docked in the capital since the 1990s, where she ends the parade with a in salute to the nation and His Imperial Majesty with her main armaments. Parades in cities such as Berlin and Seestadt are similar in nature, but instead feature the Royal Landwehr forces of the city's respectful state.

Today's celebrations saw a different turn of events, as His Imperial Majesty surprised crowds in the capital by not appearing before them from the Friedrichsplatz but instead in the crowds themselves. It was reported that the Kaiserliche-Garde advised against this, but the Kaiser instead wanted to "show his trust in his people." In a show to the world, His Imperial Majesty was seen shaking hands and celebrating the nation with his people by his side. Johann Mustker was a member of the crowd, stating: "Nations of the world like to claim that the Kaiserreich is a dictatorship. Do you see leaders of communist or democratic nations showing their respect, care, and devotion to their people like this? Do you see their leaders show their trust in their people by going into crowds against the advising of their security? No! This is something only a great monarchy can do."

In another surprising event, the Weniges Reich also participated in the day's celebrations. In the capital, the Kaiserreich and Weniges Reich flags were flown together - with reports of units on the DMZ lines with Daredland also flying the Englean Kriegsflagge alongside the Weniges national flag. The Weniges leadership was also present at the celebrations: Reichspräsident Helmuth Fehrenbacher, Reichskanzler Paul Steiner, and Sv. Fr. Friedrich von Schäfer. During the celebrations, Sv. Fr. Friedrich von Schäfer was quoted:

"Today marks an important day in our history, the foundation of the nation that brought our great Neu-Steinland into fruition. Without the Kaiserreich, we Daredis might have become another member of the hordes of Ophion or a pawn of the Rezuans. However, this is not the case. The Great Heinrich I united our peoples under one banner, and this banner continues to fly to this day. This banner also granted our peoples a sovereign nation to ourselves, one that was prosperous throughout its existence. However, nearly two centuries later this nation faced a great schism between those who wished to expunge our Germanic culture in favour of one that forced a multitude of cultures together in one nation. These people are also those who stand across our border, people who have allowed our great nation to be gradually taken by the Sunrisians and the MDAA. People who see our brethren in the Kaiserreich as the enemy. These people have been blinded by the Sunrisians to see a false enemy, and these recent protests in Freihat show this! The Daredi people are starting to open their eyes and see the true nature of the Occupational Government! Neither the Kaiserreich nor our nation are the enemy, rather those from the West who wish to see us enslaved under their so-called "defensive pact." But my fellow Daredis, we will not stand down and see ourselves become pawns of the Sunrisians! No, instead we shall stand forth as a beacon of hope to those on the other side of the DMZ. And this is why we gather today, to show solidarity with our Englean brethren on the day of the founding of our Empire. I expect to hear a claim by the Occupational Government that I was involved in some form of corruption created by them to attempt to publicly defame my image. This is no matter, for we can easily see that it is the desperate measures taken by a government that does not have their citizens' best interests in mind and need a scapegoat...My fellow Daredis, I come before you today to inquire your honest input. Unlike the Occupational Government, myself and the two great men with me appreciate and value your interests. Today I present the plan before you that I have been working with our contacts in the Kaiserreich for months. On this day, the Uniting of the Englean Peoples 1144 years ago, I say that we do this once more! The Weniges Reich shall join the Kaiserreich, uniting the Daredi and Englean peoples and bring Unity to our nations! Gott mit uns und Heil dir im Siegerkranz!"

Following this statement, a deafening cheer was heard from the crowds within the city. von Schäfer saluted the crowds while the military band that had been present played the anthem of the Kaiserreich, attempting to be heard over the roar of the crowds present. As this event was televised, the reactions from across both the Weniges Reich and the Kaiserreich were reported in. As soon as von Schäfer had announced the call for unity, there were reports of similar crowds cheering throughout the two nations. The two border towns of Freidendorf and Friedenhof, which are situated about 1 mile from the border on either side, videos were shown of two groups of townsfolk rushing towards the border. Reaching the divide, they were shown forcibly opening the gates and welcoming each other with handshakes and hugs alike. After this announcement, the Reichstag was reported as preparing for the possible entrance of the Weniges Reich as an autonomous state of the Kaiserreich which would require a vote by the populace and call by the leadership to proceed.

Scítăs Intérsâ Of The Band Népâlúza Disagrees That There Is A “Grunge Renaissance” Happening

Image
Scítăs Intérsâ, lead vocalist of Népâlúza

Scítăs Intérsâ, the lead vocalist of the punk/alt rock band – Népâlúza (Unbroken), has challenged the term – “Grunge Renaissance”, which was coined to describe the recent triumphant return of grunge into the musical mainstream in Sunrisia. According to the artist, grunge never left, so it is not correct or even needed to call it a renaissance, because in contemporary terms, especially in arts, the term usually applies to a return of something back to popularity either after a downfall of a fade in popularity. Intérsâ claims that grunge never left the Sunrisian musical mainstream and only briefly took a back-seat to synthwave and trance. The musician did acknowledge that there was a brief period of undefined Experimental Music leading the mainstream in Sunrisia, but that brief period of having pushed other genres into the background, does not warrant “a renaissance” of other genres:

I guess there is a temptation to use the term “Grunge Renaissance”, because in a global context, it is usually thought to have stayed in the 1990’s and maybe a small portion of the early 2000’s. But we are talking about the Sunrisian context here and as far as I remember, and I know what I am talking about being a musician, grunge never left. It took a back-seat to rock and heavy metal, as well as synthwave/retrowave, trance and “experimental” most recently. Yeah, you could say that our band also hogged some of that spotlight along with other relative “newbies.” But that doesn’t mean grunge went away.

I think back many years up to now and I remember new grunge acts coming out consistently and remaining in the public attention. Songs, albums, shows, even the grunge-influenced fashion never went away and new stuff kept coming out. It’s more than just a musical genre, you know. Even I and the boys went through that grunge phrase in terms of what we dressed like, what we listened to and what sound we tried to incorporate into our own stuff. Punk purists or alt rock purists were kind of mad, while the general audiences can’t tell the difference a lot of the time. Genres often get confused anyway, which I guess is legit, because they are related or are sub-genres of the same thing. So yeah, we kind of took the advantage of not putting ourselves, as a band, in a box of what style and sub-culture we were representing or what was our definitive sound. But to be fair to the fans, yes, we should always stay loyal and represent more what were initially and not move away too far from our roots. People still came to know us as having a particular style, you know. We do not condone “selling out”, which some musicians refer to as “evolving” to justify their unwanted change, while spitting in the faces of their fans. I know I might sound hypocritical, because Népâlúza also went in different directions, but we never dropped the heavy sound. We still stayed in that area and allowed ourselves to take inspiration from “related” sound. Then again, in terms of style in the way you dress and represent a sub-culture, I had dreadlocks not too long ago, so I guess nobody owes a specific look. Anyways, I know that I am rambling and sidetracking here big time. *Laughs*

I really don’t understand where this whole “Grunge Renaissance” idea came from. It’s only been like a minute since grunge artists maybe pulled back a bit to give others a chance to shine (for better or worse). If you want to argue that this recent period of synthwave/retrowave, trance, heavy metal, punk, alternative rock and most recently this amalgamation of “Experimental Music” or anything else out there having taken the lead from grunge, counts as a separate period in music history that has dethroned grunge and now it’s suddenly back in “a renaissance”, well…I don’t think that’s the case. Again, just my opinion. It never went away and even if did take a break or took a back-seat, still not enough time has passed for a “second coming” to happen. Phase 1 needed to clearly end for Phase 2 to eventual start and that rift or interruption in-between, never really happen from what I’ve seen. And I’ve been on the musical scene for a while. Now, if people are talking about “Grunge Renaissance” in terms of quality, which I have seen some people arguing as what they actually mean when saying “Grunge Renaissance”, well, that’s a whole different story then.

I would say it makes more sense if that’s what people think when they mean “Grunge Renaissance”, but here my opinions also does not really align with the view. If many are hinting that grunge was okay in the past, but now it has become better, or that grunge saw a decline in quality and now it’s on the up-swing, well…no. I don’t see it, I don’t hear it. It was always great and continues to be great thankfully. Hopefully it never happens, but if a decline in quality does take place, that is when we should start waiting for an actual “Grunge Renaissance” to happen, in order to save it. So far, everything’s fine.

Again, I can already feel genre purists and our fans getting mad for defending grunge, while being in what is formally a punk and alt rock band. *Laughs* I’m just paying respects. Not many want to admit it, but grunge was pretty innovative when it started and has influenced how the sound evolved in other genres. Be respectful to it’s legacy. Besides, we have toured and continue to tour with many grunge bands. Some newer grunge acts have opened for us in other shows. A lot of wonderful people out there. Sweetest people on the planet, even if grunge does call for a “rough” exterior sometimes. Same could be said for the punk, alt rock or metal. The “edge” is there on the exterior, but I just adore all those guys. I just hope they are not going to get mad at me for hinting that they’re just putting on act. *Laughs*

Not that long ago, Népâlúza charted with the song – Ísgîd” (Healed). After the interview by front man Scítăs Intérsâ, the rest of the band joined him on stage at the studio to perform 2 other songs. The band usually sings in Sunrisian, while rarely transitioning into foreign languages. This time, both songs that Népâlúza performed were in English. The lyrics for the first song – “Rediscovering Purpose” were based on an English-language poem, while the second song – “Breaking Through” was written by the band’s lead vocalist Scítăs Intérsâ, as a continuation/sequel to “Rediscovering Purpose.” Being a continuation, “Breaking Through” also had to be an English-language song like its’ intended predecessor, telling a single inter-connected story from an artistic point of view, and reaching the international market from a business point of view.

Songs performed in the studio of WtF Music Television by Népâlúza:

  • Rediscovering Purpose” – Lyrics based on a foreign poem.

  • Breaking Through” – Written by Scítăs Intérsâ as a continuation/sequel to the story told in the lyrics of “Rediscovering Purpose.”

Former EM Dantes concludes Rezuan Tour, on route to North Rukonia

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Former Executive Minister Edmond Dantes concluded his university tour of Rezua today while trying to garner support for his bid to become the next Secretary-General of the United Sunalayan Assembly, while already expected to have the Rezuan vote, Dantes still toured the nation in good faith. Dantes is quite popular in Rezuan with a Nordipolica Post survey done when he left office in 2018 showing that 71 percent of Rezuans approving of his leadership in Layfet and 65 percent approving of his leadership on the world stage. Dantes visited four universities including Imperial Eomerian University (IEU), Kelb University, University of Nordipolica - Saint Claresburg, and Orshan Academy. Dantes attempted to target Rezua’s brightest and the most vocal about anti-internationalism students as well as reinspire Rezuan students to continue in international studies despite recent dissolution with world politics and the international playing field. RezNews and other Rezuan news outlets reported that Dantes was well received in IEU and UNordSC but had mixed to negative receptions at the other two schools.

After two private meetings with the Rezuan Minister of International Relations and Prime Minister Leonart, Dantes announced that his next visit would be to North Rukonia where he will give more speeches across several of that nation's universities on the manner of international relations. Dantes is also popular in North Rukonia, which will be an asset if he is able to convince the nation to vote in favor of Resolution 151. Dantes will leave tomorrow evening. Dantes did say before returning to his hotel that he intends to visit all that nations in Ventismar and possibly Belantica and Rhodevus before returning home to Layfet.

On a related note, many Layfetians are divided on Dantes' proposed reforms to the USA despite them supporting his bid for the office, with only 46 percent of Layfetians supporting his purposed reforms in the USA, but 81 percent of Layfetians supporting him becoming Secretary-General of the USA according to a Nordipolica Post survey. "I think the country loves Dantes as a statesmen, but they will get their inclusive economy from the VU and not the USA" - Arnold Alda, Representative from Layfet City said. "He is a strong statesman, and the Secretary-General is more of a statesman role anyway, not a tool for aggressive executive action"

New Crown Sedan Lineup Refreshed for Late 2019
Image
The new Crown Premier sedan set go on sale in September 2019, production beginning later this month

While Crown and it's parent company Pearson Motors are still getting used to the waters and picking up where the former Zaton marque left off, they have had resounding success with the Crown brand pertaining to its line-up of sedan oriented towards an upmarket demographic looking for the latest in technology and safety. While the only vehicle made under the Crown nameplate happens to be this sedan, it is offered in a wide variety of trim levels, and a small but logical choice of engines. Not to mention the vehicle has specialized fleet models pinpointed towards taxi services, law enforcement, rental agencies, and executive transport, configured to the needs of fleet owners and operators. The new design has a more sleeker look, with a smoother roof-line towards the back look to not just improve visuals, but to reduce drag created by the sedan. In addition, the biggest selling factor was the hybrid powertrain option which proved popular over the conventional vehicles being sold, which led the engineers to give the V8 option this feature, along with the two 6 cylinder options, as Pearson Motors stated its intentions to have an all electric fleet by the year 2035, when MPG ratings are set to be quite high.

At the top sits the 5.0 liter V8 engine with DOHC, VVT, VVL, direct infection, cylinder shutoff and the new assistance of the electric motors. This gives it a nice 420 BHP at 5600 RPM and peak torque at 400 lb/ft between 2200 and 4800 RPM, giving the vehicle plenty of power to not only move it's heaviest trim package which will weigh in at 4,568 lbs, but also give it impressive and smooth acceleration (0-60 MPH in 5.6 sec) and top speed (145 MPH). While this may looks bad for economy ratings, which the previous non-hybrid engine made 18/26 MPG, Crown claims that the new drivetrain allows it to get a potential 36 MPG on the highway with careful and smooth driving. The mid-of-the-road option in the engine department still is a turbocharged 3.5 V6 engine making a steady 340 BHP and 280 lb/ft of torque. While it may not have the power of the V8, the MPG ratings already are much higher at 20/34 MPG. The last option is the twin-turbo 2.8 liter I6 making 300 BHP even and 280 lb/ft of torque. All of the engines will now be part of the hybrid system, which will allow for better power distribution and more efficient driving, and retain the option for both rear- and all-wheel- drive. All of these engines will be coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which has improved gearing to make stop-and-go driving more comfortable without sacrificing highway drivability.
Image
Interior of the Crown Premier in safari leather and Redwood

For trim levels, it remains much the same from the last 2 years, being the Sport, Deluxe, Premier, and Executive packages. Each package offering more comfort and convenience options, while all equipping safety features, the infotainment system, and dual-zone climate control as standard. Suspension setup is different, with the Sport models featuring stiffer springs and swaybars to handle harder driving styles, while the executive is equipped with air-ride suspension to ensure optimal smoothness. The options for the interior are plentiful for high-quality fabric and leather seating, with interior trim pieces nicely finished no matter the trim level. Premier and Executive packages feature 4 bucket seats with individual climate settings and the addition of a minifridge tucked between the two back seats large enough to hold two bottles of wine and two glasses for the ones riding in the rear. Other options offered for all trim levels includes in-car WiFi connection provided by Grant Communications, 360-degree camera, separate front and rear audio, heated door handles and arm rests, and sunroof. In terms of safety, the car comes standard with blind-spot, lane departure, an hill braking assists, forward collision warning and prevention, fatigue warning, adaptive traction control, and adaptive cruise control.

For pricing, its easy to say that the base model, the Crown Deluxe, will start at M 32,500, Premier at M 48,680, Sport at M 42,440, and Executive at M 63,780. The old body style of Crown sedan will continue to be produced until determined necessary by PM as the Crown Service, meant to appeal towards fleet operators and those looking for a large comfortable sedan, which will start at M 28,680. The police edition, known as the Patrol, will depend on a per-case basis for pricing, and will come standard with AWD and the 3.5 V6, with the option for the 5.0 V8. PM plans to reduce the cost of older 2018 and '19 models once the new design rolls into the showrooms. With a fierce global competition, its hard to say where the Crown will lie for markets abroad, but it's gaining traction in the UQs as a cheaper alternative to luxury cars from other manufacturers without sacrificing quality. With this new Crown, surely LDA Group, Marin, Nira, and foreign automakers will want to see hiow this affects their own place in the market

Growing Anti-Tobacco Movement Suggests To Begin The Process Of “Killing” The Tobacco Industry And Transitioning From It With Time

Image

Tobacco consumption in Sunrisia, cigarettes of any kind in particular, remains low and dropping yearly. That is fortunate news for the population from the perspective of health, but you have to acknowledge the interest of the tobacco industry. Many say that those working in the tobacco industry do not deserve success or a general “happy ending” in their work, because of making profit from poisoning people. That argument is also often aimed at the alcohol industry, although, studies have shown that alcohol does have positive health benefits in contrast to tobacco and nicotine. Nevertheless, alcohol consumption is low in Sunrisia as well, although it mostly refers to the low consumption of strong spirits or pure alcohol. The other side of the argument, those accused of being the “lobby” of the tobacco industry, take shots (no pun intended) at the alcohol industry and also against the fast food industry. However, the tobacco “lobby” immediately gets fired back at by the side claiming that marijuana should be fully legalized by that logic, since Sunrisia has “undefined” cannabis laws with exception to legal medical cannabis. The cannabis “lobby” also cites the proof that cannabis has health benefits in contrast to the products of the formally-legal tobacco and alcohol industry. Even the tobacco “lobby” faces a certain internal divide, where one sides claims to be the representative of “the good kind” of tobacco, like shisha used in hookahs, which does not contain the same poisonous ingredients and which is not formally inhaled.

In this entire mix-up, a popular opinion is developing in Sunrisia that tobacco is a “dying industry” and despite being an economic sector, the individuals working in it should consider transitioning to some other industry. In fact, some experts (and those claiming to be experts) say that the current government of Sunrisia, specifically the Department of Finance and Economic Development, and the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce, should develop an “action plan” on how to provide “euthanasia of the tobacco industry.” According to the anti-tobacco movement, this possible “action plan” should lay out steps on how Sunrisia could help the tobacco industry eventually die over a course of several generations, while working out the best conditions for the Sunrisian economy and industry in general, to adapt and not experience a big loss from it. In the meantime, new generations should be encouraged to go work in other industries, ignoring the tobacco industry in order to allow for its’ eventual extinction. The anti-tobacco movement said that Sunrisia should consider adopting new laws and allowing for new industries to open up in the country in order to fill in for the tobacco one, thus evolving an economy that would also keep people healthy or make them healthier. The anti-tobacco proponents held a number of hearings at the Convet to appeal to the lawmakers and have them influence the administration of the President as well, to unite under a common goal of “killing tobacco.” The anti-tobacco movement says that businesses and state companies have no right to make profit from addiction and self-harm.

Some economists say that the growing anti-tobacco movement is well-meaning, but their plans to kill the tobacco industry are unrealistic at the present, naïve and could definitely be very dangerous if rushed. Meanwhile, there have also been those analysts, who say that it can be achieved and all kinds of crazy ideas, which were denounced as madness at their time, have often come to fruition. The side of the experts supporting the social movement, say that humanity’s entire progress has been about rebellious ideas, taking risks and breaking the status quo. Their argument is that the earlier Sunrisia develops a plan to “transition” from the tobacco industry and replace it with something else, the sooner it could be achieved over the course of several generations and possibly even set a positive precedent in terms of global health of people. Right now, the topic remains a public debate, while reaching the politicians through hearings at the Convet, aimed at the lawmakers. However, the government itself does not have a position. Activists demand that the government not sell out to the corporations and pay attention to the demands and suggestions of the citizens first.

  • President Válîd Sâlúbĕr exchanges a phone call with Prime Minister Matteas Noran of New Vesvai, regarding a wish by New Vesvai to sign a trade agreement with SOWEFTA. The President recommended that the Head of Government of New Vesvai contact the leaderships of other SOWEFTA member states on the question as well, in order for the talks to move forward.

Sunrisian military instructors invited for more training of the Konfoderaleswehr after ex-Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer openly calls for Englean annexation of the Weniges Reich

Image

Confederal Minister of Defense and Protection of the Daredi Confederation Axel Norge has confirmed that Daredland has invited military instructors from allied Sunrisia for yet another round of training of the Konfoderaleswehr. There have been multiple such training rounds so far over time and Daredland shares an agreement with Sunrisia that instructors would arrive to prep the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr regularly on rotation basis. After larger Daredi–Sunrisian joint war games last time the Daredi government decided not to initiate any more posturing and allow for some calm to return to the region. This recent invitation of Sunrisian instructors comes unplanned and in direct response to an alarming call by Daredi ex-Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer for an Englean annexation of parts of Daredi Wenigberg region occupied by the unrecognized Weniges Reich. The ousted Daredi ex-Chancellor made the statement at the 1144 anniversary celebration of the Englean state presently recognized in Daredland as the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg. Obviously the ex-Chancellor did not use any of the same terms and instead called for a voluntary merger of the independent state of the Weniges Reich into the Englean state repeating the instructions of Weniges–Englean state propaganda.

Schäfer’s statement personally angered Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People of the Daredi Confederation Luca Sveriger:

“I am appalled that this criminal would try to heat up the Weniges situation again. We have frozen the conflict to avoid more killing. We and our Western Corentian partners are now putting all attention towards fixing the humanitarian difficulties that have come from the Weniges crisis. The Konfoderaleswehr is heroically deterring expansion westwards deeper into Daredland beyond eastern parts of Wenigberg that were seized. They would never attack first but only defend our homeland. And now this traitor, imperial puppet and political corpse is trying to light up everything with his rhetoric. I thought Schäfer could not sink any lower than he already had but he doesn’t seize to amaze me. I hope he burns in hell.”

The Office of the Attorney General of the Daredi Confederation (OAG) meanwhile said that Schäfer’s open speech in front of crowds and cameras has only made the job easier. A number of charges against the ex-Chancellor linked to treason, undermining the territorial integrity of Daredland, supporting terrorism and foreign aggression can now be brought to conclusion in an investigation reports against him. Those charges alone could already lead to a possible life sentence by the court. And that is without even mentioning all the other charges that Schäfer faces that will need to be investigated further and where evidence might not be served on the platter the same way.

In a surprising turn of events Confederal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Friedrich Heuvel did speak of the 1144 years of the Englean state.

“As hard as that may be to believe these days we would actually congratulate common Englean citizens with 1144 Years. Even with the entire struggle of Daredland’s predecessor Neu-Steinland and with today’s situation we would still pay respect to a fraternal nation. Problem is that the current Kaiserliche regime has turned this occasion into a propaganda exhibition for the Empire, for imperialism, for militarism, for consolidation around a never-changing and non-chosen leader. A tyrant. If we somehow managed to let go of our principals and actually congratulated the Englean state with the occasion it would not be a congratulations to the Englean people. It would be congratulations to the Kaiserliche regime and the Empire that oppresses Engleans, once oppressed Daredis and still wants to oppress us. At this point it would be questionable if we should even congratulate common Engleans. Because they are also brainwashed and sick with this imperial illness. Until Engleans and their further generations heal themselves or overcome this imperial illness we can never see them as brothers and sisters again. The values held by today’s Engleans are the antithesis to what Daredis believe in. Maybe that is the key difference and we have to accept it and live with it. For all those still thinking that Daredis and Engleans are the same people I encourage you to look past ethnic relations and acknowledge this key difference in mentality and worldview. We differ like night and day.”

People's Commissar for Health Echoes Sunrisian Anti-Tobacco Sentiment
"The USWR Should Phase Out Tobacco Industry in Coming Decade"

Image

Rezinskigrad, USWR - Alexey Yegorovich, People's Commissar for Health, has echoed the recent news out of Sunrisia today in a brief press-release. Unlike Sunrisia, however, the Union of Socialist Worker's Republics is noted for having a major issue with tobacco use - recent studies indicate that the USWR may have one of the heighest rates of use in all of Sunalaya. According to a recent study conducted by the University of the Free People in Karl-Marx-Stadt (formerly Königsberg), Balconian Socialist Worker's Republic as much as 70% of the population in the USWR aged over 40 "use a tobacco product daily." This number drops to 52% for those aged 18-30. Perhaps most shocking, however, as much as 28% of citizens in the USWR aged 15-18 admit to regular or semi-regular use of a tobacco product.

These products vary as do their popularity by region. In the Balconian SWR the majority of those participating in the study stated they used pipe tobacco. In the Ruzayevkan SWR cigarettes were far more common. In the Skoghall SWR the most commonly used tobacco product was snus - a pouch of tobacco placed between the upper lips and gums and left in, instead of smoking. Skoghall also is home to several colective farms where tobacco plants are grown, often used in the production of snus.

Yegorovich stated in his press-release that the growing popularity and continued use of tobacco in the USWR is a public health safety concern, citing the growing number of studies on the harmful effects tobacco products have. Yegorovich's mother, Irene, died in 2003 from health-related problems likely caused by her long-time smoking. In his press-release he detailed a proposal to phase out all tobacco production - both the growing of the tobacco plant and the commercial use of making tobacco products - should be phased out completely in the USWR by 2025. The plan states that the importation of tobacco products to be sold in the USWR would continue until 2028 when all commercial use of tobacco related products would become illegal. "This proposed plan would give the people of the USWR nearly an entire decade to quit, and the People's Commisariate for Health would provide resources for quitting over this period. Both via medications and therapy." Yegorovich's plan will be officially presented to the The Supreme Socialist Worker's Council of the Union when it sits for May session.

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr Hosts Prime Minister Matteas Noran Of New Vesvai At The Presidential Palace, Orentan

Image

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr has welcomed Prime Minister Matteas Noran of New Vesvai at the Presidential Palace today, for the first official visit of Second Prime Minister of New Vesvai since the young country declared its’ independence. The official visit comes after President Sâlúbĕr and Prime Minister Noran had a phone conversation yesterday, which came by the initiative of New Vesvai’s side and concerned the country’s interest in signing a trade agreement with SOWEFTA. Yesterday, the President told the Head of Government of New Vesvai that he should also make sure to contact and maybe even arrange meetings with the leaderships of other member states of SOWEFTA, identical to the format in which the talks are happening today.

After President Válîd Sâlúbĕr and Prime Minister Matteas Noran of New Vesvai have their talks, the Prime Minister of New Vesvai will be directed towards Minister of Finance and Economic Development Díva Plénâta, and members of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce to discuss a possible trade agreement in more detail. Currently, Sunrisia and New Vesvai share a bilateral Enhanced Trade and Investment Agreement, which would most likely not be superseded even by a new treaty between SOWEFTA and New Vesvai. On the contrary, the positive effects of the bilateral agreement might be amplified by a larger trade deal.

While Prime Minister Matteas Noran of New Vesvai is in Sunrisia, he might also meet the recently-returned Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér to discuss the existing military alliance between the countries and the protection guarantees that Sunrisia gives to the independence, sovereignty and overall liberty of New Vesvai as one of the world’s youngest countries.

In other news:

  • Sunrisian military instructors arrive in Daredland to train the Konföderaleswehr (the local armed forces) at the invitation of the Daredi government. This would be a 3rd round of Sunrisian soldiers training the Daredi troops in modern history, without counting the joint military exercises and war games between the countries.

  • Minister of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá arrives in Smoya for a 2-day visit, after leaving West Zilveren Berg from a week-long visit.

  • Anti-tobacco activists in Sunrisia rejoice after their message reaches the distant country of the Union of Socialist Worker's Republics. People's Commissar for Health Alexey Yegorovich of USWR has put forward a plan/proposal to phase out tobacco production in USWR by 2025, while foreign import of tobacco products into USWR would continue until 2028.

  • CEO of Layfetian company the National Motor Works Jack Ford gifts 2 2019 NMW Stargazer GTs to President Válîd Sâlúbĕr and Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér. The formal reason for the generosity is a symbolic celebration of a defense relationship between Layfet and Sunrisia. The President and the Minister of Security have said that they are both thankful.

South Baggnagia faces cyber-attacks, accusing North Baggnagia as the perpetrator

Image

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – South Baggnagian military and intelligence have reported country-wide cyber-attacks. The targets of the cyber-attacks were military computers and also the general infrastructure of South Baggnagia used by the civilian population. The generals of the South Baggnagian Protection Army have accused the military of North Baggnagia as the perpetrator. The intelligence agencies of South Baggnagia have also backed up the statement but said they would carry out additional investigations to have 100% proof. Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar supported the military and the intelligence. He said that South Baggnagia would not retaliate with the same kind of aggression but would prop-up its defenses against future cyber-attacks. The military generals say that these cyber-attacks show the technological and other potential of North Baggnagian officers. This means that North Baggnagia should be acknowledged as a more serious opponent than it was originally thought of. This means that the North Baggnagian propaganda about the North Baggnagian Holy Army being overhyped can also not be fully dismissed.

The Congress of National Sovereignty still went a step further. Even if the Minister of Defense said that South Baggnagia would not retaliate but only defend, the Congress plans to vote on a new package of sanctions on North Baggnagia. Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt announced this measure and said that the Congress is already planning to gather on a session to discuss such a possibility. All propositions on what should be included in the sanctions package will be heard out in this session. Possibly the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Industry and Trade would be able to join the deputies at the session to make their recommendation. Afterwards select deputies will take on the responsibility of drafting up a sanctions bill that the Congress would vote on. South Baggnagia and North Baggnagia already do not have diplomatic relations and ties in other sectors are minimal. The new sanctions would shave off some of those minimal ties even more but that would be a larger hit on North Baggnagia rather than South Baggnagia.

On the border the South Baggnagian Protection Army and the military forces of Sunrisia stationed in South Baggnagia are once again monitoring the border. They are looking at the horizon on the North Baggnagian side and watching if stealth attacks or intrusions are not planned once more. A cyber-attack to paralyze infrastructure was clearly a preparation for a full-scale invasion according to the general theory. It might have only been a test and not have a follow-up invasion immediately. The North Baggnagians may have only been preparing for the future. But the South Baggnagian army and the allied army could not take the risk and need to make sure that a follow-up will not happen.

Sunrisia Promotes Sanctions Against North Baggnagia From Individual To State Ones Over Cyber-Attacks On South Baggnagia: Vice FM Fîbrá Acíesên Hints At Border Talks To Achieve Ease Of New Sanctions

Image

South Baggnagia has just faced cyber-attack against military computers and the country’s infrastructure used by the citizens of South Baggnagia. The North Baggnagian dictatorship of Fran Hapenic was quickly called out as the perpetrator of the attacks. The stance that North Baggnagia was the perpetrator is shared by the general command of the South Baggnagian Protection Army, the intelligence agencies of the country and also by the Ministry of Defense. The Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia has already announced intention to impose news sanctions against North Baggnagia, considering the already low relations between the 2 countries, with relations now bordering extinction.

Following the cyber-attacks, the South Baggnagian soldiers rushed to the border with North Baggnagia, accompanied by Sunrisian soldiers stationed in the country that were invited to join them. Their objective at that moment was to monitor if the unexpected cyber-attacks would not be followed up by another attempt at a military invasion, where the military technology and the country’s infrastructure are paralyzed, rendering it not so much helpless, but definitely greatly weakened. No news of North Baggnagian movements near the border with South Baggnagia or around the South Baggnagian exclave of Neodvisni have yet been reported. The situation appears to be stable and it was only a test, according to the local South Baggnagian military sources and to our own soldiers from the area.

The news of cyber-attacks against South Baggnagia were immediately reported back to Sunrisia by General Pártên Câstódél, since the Sunrisian soldiers were also affected along with the South Baggnagian population. The General presented a briefing of everything that had happened and all conclusions the South Baggnagian military and intelligence have made, along with what actions the South Baggnagian government was going to take. Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér, who was just wrapping up a meeting with Prime Minister Matteas Noran of New Vesvai, was presented with the news coming out of South Baggnagia. The Minister quickly rushed to inform President Válîd Sâlúbĕr and National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên on the news of cyber-attacks from South Baggnagia and what proceeded.

Commander-in-chief President Válîd Sâlúbĕr quickly addressed the Convet with the request that lawmakers follow the example of the South Baggnagian allies and promote the current sanctions against North Baggnagia from individual ones, which are imposed against the dictatorship of Fran Hapenic, to state ones against North Baggnagia, in order to undermine the country’s capabilities to engage in aggression. There were multiple talks to promote sanctions against North Baggnagia from individual ones to state ones many times, but the Convet and the Sâlúbĕr administration equally turned the other way, fearing humanitarian consequences. Nevertheless, this time the patience has expired, considering how many provocations South Baggnagia and Sunrisia have deal with, coming from North Baggnagia, from airspace violations to outright border war and stealth cross-border killings of troops by intruding regime troops and agents from North Baggnagia.

With an overwhelming majority, the Convet voted in favor of promoting sanctions on North Baggnagia from individual ones to state ones. The Speaker of the Convet stated:

Individual sanctions were apparently not enough to the North Baggnagian dictatorship, so we must approve a difficult decision of striking the country with sanctions, in order to undermine its’ possibilities of performing more aggressive acts. That is when the regime will feel a hit at its’ pockets, if restrictions of personal freedoms within Sunrisian law are not enough. To an organization of people, who have lost the free way of thinking, individual sanctions probably did not matter as much as they would to free people. Therefore, let us now see if state sanctions against the national institutions the regime abuses, can take effect.

In terms of humanitarian effects, Sunrisia will do everything to minimize the strain on the North Baggnagian citizens that the regime abuses. Just like with all the embargoes we had ever imposed on other countries in our history, we have always exempted the humanitarian products, because the regime is the enemy and not the people. Things will stay the same in this case.

Vice Minister of International Relations Fîbrá Acíesên issued the following statement on new sanctions on North Baggnagia:

South Baggnagians and us have once looked past the North Baggnagian cancellation of border talks, which the regime agreed on following a brief border war between South and North, where we fought alongside the South under our treaty. In fact, those initiatives were being voiced by both South and North before, but the North always backed out. We did not do much, because, like South Baggnagians, we did not want to rock the boat. We wanted a stable cease-fire and co-existence between the 2 Baggnagian states, as well as uphold the interests of our partners in the VU about having a stable Nordismar. That is what we still wish to see, even if we will continue to voice criticism over the situation with human rights in North Baggnagia. However, in terms of sanctions, on Sunrisian behalf, we will throw a hint out there on how the North Baggnagian regime can ease the strain of these fresh sanctions. I did not bring up border talks just like that you know.

After concluding the meeting with Prime Minister Matteas Noran of New Vesvai on a treaty between SOWEFTA and New Vesvai, Minister of Finance and Economic Development Díva Plénâta will present the specifics of new sanctions on North Baggnagia at a press briefing. Meanwhile, the resolution passed at the Convet on the promotion of sanctions on North Baggnagia from individual to state ones, will be going to the desk of President Válîd Sâlúbĕr, in order for the head of state to sign the sanctions into law. The President has also pledged that the Prime Intelligence Division (PID) would help the intelligence agencies of South Baggnagia investigate the cyber-attacks and cooperatively work out mechanisms on how to avoid new ones. Greater defense against cyber-attacks would also likely have to be worked out between the armed forces of South Baggnagia and Sunrisia.

In other news:

  • Another round of Sunrisian warships arrives in South Baggnagia after a long journey, being stationed at the naval bases in the country.

  • Convet votes to lift sanctions against The Tao that were imposed against the country’s previous regime, but were not officially lifted until now.

Conservatives form Coalition Government in 2019 General Elections

Image

Pont du Rois, Varlais - Sébastien Rousseau's Conservative party has seen another major win in the 2019 General Elections. Rousseau, who took over party leadership from Jean Dupoint in 2017 after he resigned following a devestating stroke, announced a coalition government formed with Édith Boffrand's Christian Unity Party gives the Conservatives a parliamentary majority in the National Assembly with a total of 118 seats, 59% of the National Assembly's 200 seats. Mrs. Boffrand has stated that she hopes the Conservative Party will honour their coalition, and support her party in it's persuit to enact stricter controls on the nation's LGBT community.

Rousseau has not commented on Mrs. Boffrand's comments, however. Although both political parties - the Conservatives and Christian Unity Party - represent Varlais' largest right-wing groups in politics, the CUP has accused the Conservatives for being "too soft" on social issues in the past. In 1997 the CUP went so far as to accuse then Prime Minister Alexandre Barbier as betraying the "heritage of Varlais" when he proposed Parliament update the nation's laws on discrimination to include discrimination against the LGBT community. A similar incident was repeated in 2016 when Jean Dupoint proposed removing laws against transgendered people which state they are mentally ill, paving the way for Varlais' transgender community to be able to transition to their selected gender. Mrs. Boffrand stated her party would "fight against this with every drop of blood" causing Dupoint to drop his proposal.

Some, however, are unsure if Rousseau will give concessions to his coalition-partner. Matthias Auguste, political analyst for The Daily Herald, argues that it is unlikely Rousseau will concede everything to the CUP. "They (the Conservatives) won enough seats in this year's election to have formed a majority government. However, amidst the rumours of a Worker's Party led coalition that had the potential to see a leftist led government for the first time since the 1960s sparked the rush to form a coalition large enough to ensure that would not happen," Auguste stated. He went on to say, "I think it is likely that the Conservatives will back some of CUP's initiatives and desires. But I do not think they will concede and back all of CUP's proposals. This Coalition is not like Bechard's Coalition Government in 1971, where it was necessay to form and keep the coalition going."

That coalition Auguste mentioned brought to an end one of the most unstable periods in Varlais' governmental history. In 1961 the Worker's Party, a left-wing party, was elected to a majority government - the first time a leftist party had been elected in Varlesian history. The following General Election, in 1966, however saw political turmoil. Dissatisfied with the Worker's Party, but cautious of the then considered far-right party of the Conservatives, no party was able to form a government. It took 8 months before a government was officially formed by a Christian Unity Party led coalition with the newly formed Think party and the centrist party Varlais for All, now defunct. This coalition lasted until 1968 when an early election was called after a vote of no confidence passed. No government was able to be formed until Jean-Marie Bechard's Conservative Party formed a coalition government in 1971, meaning Varlais was without a government for three years.

Fortunately, for all Varlesians, the political turmoil of the 1960s is highly unlikely to repeat itself following this year's election. Whatever the future may hold, whether or not we will see the CUP's proposals backed by the Conservatives, we can sleep peacefully knowing we have a stable government.

His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic agrees to give the Southerners and the Sunrisians The Privilege of speaking to Him at the North–South border

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic has humbled the Southerners and the Sunrisians. The Great Leader will be giving the Southerners and the Sunrisians The Privilege of speaking to His Excellency in person. No matter multiple provocations from the Southerners and from their Sunrisian masters, all these acts were proven worthless. The opponents have recognized the unmatched might of the North Baggnagian Holy Army and have trembled before it. The recent Military Parade in Silcenda and the display of North Baggnagia’s invincibility was the last straw that made the Southerners and the Sunrisians realize that they will have to talk to His Excellency to receive his approval and forgiveness. The opponents want to be spared and that is clear. The North Baggnagian nation is cheering on the Great Leader for His leadership, strength and decisiveness. The enemy has realized that they cannot match the North Baggnagian Holy Army.

His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic had His Cabinet behind Him when He publicly announced that His Excellency would meet the Southerner and Sunrisian representatives at the border between North and South of a divided Baggnagian nation. The Great Leader confirmed that He will throw a bone to the Southerners and the Sunrisians and will not cancel these talks if the opponents don’t try any provocations. His Excellency did not specify the date of the meeting but probably because the Great Leader has not decided on it yet. It is obvious that the Great Leader is the only one who will decide when the meeting happens and the Southerners and the Sunrisians will have to accept it. They are out of options unless they want to face the true might of the North Baggnagian Holy Army.

His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic made this announcement at the City Square of Silcenda before crowds of thousands. Millions meanwhile listened to His Excellency speaking around North Baggnagia, South Baggnagia and the world. Everybody attentively listens to every word of the Great Leader. The crowds of thousands cheered on His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic at the City Square in Silcenda. They applauded the Great Leader while His Excellency waved back at them and clapped along with them. With this gesture His Excellency Chief of State showed unparalleled love to His people and His people showed their dear love to the Great Leader. The crowds also celebrated His Excellency Chief of State as a Champion of Peace, a Strong Leader, and one that makes the enemy tremble. Out of fear the enemy is forced to submit and will talk to His Excellency Chief of State at the border between North and South of divided Baggnagia. His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic said that He expects to see the Southerners and the Sunrisians there at the time he will tell them to come. After the Great Leader pronounced this sentence, the people once again cheered on the Great Leader for His strength, courage, decisiveness, patriotism and making opponents listen to Him.

North Baggnagia agrees to talks, South Baggnagian diplomats say that a future summit on the border is planned to be held at a convenient time for all three participating parties

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Baggnagia Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt has held a huge press conference in Silcenda today before an army of journalists. The press conference was held on the historic occasion of the North Baggnagian leadership agreeing to hold talks with South Baggnagia and Sunrisia at the border between South Baggnagia and North Baggnagia. The sides of the talks have committed to dialogue and have promised to help provide secure conditions on how the South Baggnagian and Sunrisian representatives could talk with the North Baggnagian leader Fran Hapenic. The conversation will be face to face but neither would cross the border.

More details were outlined in a statement of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt before he took questions from the media.

Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt and representatives from Sunrisia will be present on our behalf of the talks. The North Baggnagians have already told us that Chief of State Fran Hapenic would be present and some of his delegates would accompany him. A special dialogue zone would be built on the common border between South Baggnagia and North Baggnagia. Inside the building platform would be a room divided in half with one side being on the South’s and the other on the North’s border. The table for conversation would even lie right across the international border with some chairs on one side and others on the other side. Security would be present at the talks on both sides according to an early agreement. Everyone’s militaries would remain outside and not cross the border. The South Baggnagian and Sunrisian armies will be watching the South’s half of the negotiations building platform in case something goes wrong inside. I hope that everything will go by okay because that would mean a serious international incident. I will be present at the talks alongside Chairman Gustav Feldt so hopefully apart from uncomfortable atmosphere in the room we will experience nothing more unpleasant. The summit at the South–North border does not have a designated date yet but it will be held at a time when it is most convenient for South Baggnagia, Sunrisia and North Baggnagia.

The Congresss of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia applauded the historical developments and personally thanked Sunrisia. Chairman Gustav Feldt had especially kind words to say.

I would like to think our sworn ally Sunrisia for staying by our side and helping us against every provocation we have faced as if they are defending their own. Sunrisia joined South Baggnagia in new sanctions against North Baggnagia. We had sanctions against North Baggnagia as a state and kept extending them. We extended them just now because of the cyber-attacks. Sunrisia finally let go of its’ refusal to strike North Baggnagia harder by only keeping the personal sanctions against the leadership of North Baggnagia. The Sunrisians realized that North Baggnagia needed to be neutralized by having its money and institutions attacked. Once Sunrisia took that decisive step the North Baggnagian leadership and got scared and agreed to these talks hours later. They understood that there was no bluff involved here. We have nothing but our allies from across the world to thank for this.

Sunrisian Vice Minister of International Relations Fîbrá Acíesên is a wise person. I got the pleasure to meet this person twice. The first time was the Vice Minister’s visit to South Baggnagia after the Congress of National Sovereignty inherited the national leadership in South Baggnagia. The second time was when I went to Sunrisia. The Sunrisian Vice Minister of International Relations hinted that North Baggnagia could ease the strain of relations by returning to border talks that the leadership previously stubbornly cancelled and which the previous weak South Baggnagian governments just blatantly accepted. The North Baggnagian regime has now agreed to the first official talks since the separation of South and North after a sanctions tsunami struck them. We might finally get those joint security zones built at the border which will decrease the risk of future border clashes. We salute our Sunrisian allies today and call this their achievement but which will save South Baggnagia.

Health Concerns Arise Following Grand Duke's Annual Easter Address

Image

Pont du Rois, Varlais - His Grace the Grand Duke of Varlais Henri IX made his annual Easter Address to the nation today. Once broadcasted over the radio, Henri IX is the first Grand Duke to change to television for the address in 1973. In his address he wished the people of Varlais a happy and joyous Easter and discussed hope - every year the Grand Duke choses a topic and delivers a speech on that topic, this year it was on hope - but for the first time since 1973 watchers of the Grand Duke's address were treated with seeing Crown Prince Alexandre, too.

In years past, the Grand Duke has always remained alone during his Easter address. When she was alive, not even the Grand Duchess sat with him for it. This year however the Grand Duke's eldest son and Varlais' heir apparant Prince Alexandre sat next to his father. They sat closely together for the duration of the King's 4 and a half minute speech - nearly half as short as the average over past decades. But eagle-eyed viewers noticed something, it appears the Grand Duke was being held up, or at least supported, by his son. One such user, Alice Dérin, posted to Livre (a popular social media site in Varlais) during the Grand Duke's appearance on television stating, "does anyone else notice Prince Alex is holding up his dad? Look at him, he's straining! Why can't Grand Duke Henri sit up on his own???" Other's echoed this and it has led many to suspect that recent rumours of Grand Duke Henri's health declining to be true.

Since January of this year there have been multiple rumours that Grand Duke Henri's health has been in a state of decline. The Grand Duke was born on 7 July, 1928 to then reigning monarchs Grand Duke Henri VIII and Grand Duchess Elisabeth meaning he will celebrate his 91st birthday later this year. Although palace officials have denied these rumours, they have continued to persist. In February news broke that the Grand Duke had suffered a stroke and was hospitalised, but the Palace Officials stated the source of the information was incorrect, stating the Grand Duke had an upper-respitory infection and was hospitalised to ensure further infections or pneumonia would not develop due to the Grand Duke's age.

Others, however, have suggested that perhaps the Grand Duke's health is not failing - at least not more than to be expected in someone of his age. They have proposed that the decrease in public appearances, and Crown Prince Alexandre's appearance in today's address indicate that the Grand Duke is preparing to abdicate the throne. Having succeeded his father to the Varlesian throne in 1950, Grand Duke Henri IX is Varlais' longest ruling monarch - having served his nation for nearly 69 years. "Its time he retires, he deserves it!" one anonymous poster to Livre wrote. Critics of this theory have pointed out that the Grand Duke has stated he would never abdicate the throne several times throughout his reign - often stating he took a vow to defend his nation until his last breath as part of his coronation.

We will not know the truth behind it all, or even if we are reading into it too much, until an official statement is made by the palace. Until then, we can only continue to pray for the good health of His Grace, and His Grace's family.

Climate Protesters Bring Burton to a Standstill

Today Burton was brought to a complete standstill due to protesters purposefully blocking off main streets and chaining themselves to the floor and public transport services. One of the protest leaders told us that people from all over Capsland had come to Burton today to show their anger and resolve in tackling climate change. Many people in the crowds had a sense of determination with one protester telling us "we're going to march on parliament, we're going to march to wherever David George is hiding and we're going to demand change". However, the protesters were stopped by the Royal Burton Police a few streets down from the National Parliament building and forced to turn back.

Among anger at politicians, protesters seemed to be vocal about international corporations that continued to have high carbon emissions. Chants such as "Liquidplex, climate checks!" and "Rubico? Climate woe!" we're popular among protesters. All of this while effigies of corporate logos were being burned in Rhodevus Square near the Department of Environment and Climate Change headquarters.

Carla Granger MP (PF), the minister for the Environment and Climate Change, released a statement while she was visiting the Ventismarian Parliament on an environmental sustainability meeting, saying that she shared the sympathies of the protesters and would used all of her "political will and purpose to fight the protester's corner in government and in parliament". She also added that her party, the Popular Front, has committed to talking to EC David George and the Democracy Party into accepting climate-related member's bills from the Green and Liberal Alliance when the National Parliament opens after Easter recess.

Meanwhile police were forced to make hundreds of arrests as protests continued late into the evening with some protesters getting pepper sprayed and detained when attempting to storm the Pantorran, Lindian and Englean embassies. The main parts of the demonstrations and protests began to disperse around 22:00 with small pockets of protests continuing into the night. The Royal Burton Police said in a statement that they appreciated the cooperation that many of the protesters displayed but also condemned anyone who tried to storm foreign embassies calling it a "callously stupid act" that would be "dealt with accordingly".

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr Calls Up A National Defense Council Meeting

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr has called up an emergency National Defense Council meeting, after the Sunrisian government had found out that there was a United Sunalayan Assembly (USA) resolution passed, which allowed for a group of foreign state servants to trespass into the sovereign waters of Sunrisia under an “international mandate.” Sunrisia is not a member of the USA. The resolution was aimed against Sunrisia building artificial islands in its’ sovereign waters, which is a project that was dubbed – the “Maritime Wall.” The President called for a meeting several hours ago and by now it has already begun, as announced by Media Representative for the Administration and Cabinet of the President Agénâ Rûmár. Despite the meeting taking place as we speak, before it could begin, National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên did have time to quickly speak to the press on the agenda. This is what he said:

The President will be there, the Minister of Security will be there, high-ranking officers of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) will be there, I will obviously be there and the list goes on. We will discuss and work out measures to boost our defense and security at the face of an aggressor not only at the door-step, but trespassing into our territorial waters, where the artificial islands are meant to be situated.

Emissary for Adversary Exchanges of Sunrisia Avér Inîmīcâ, a special envoy responsible for questions related to Sunrisia’s formal enemies, stated the following:

This entire situation has some analogies to the precursor of what has become known as the Battle of Vitre’s Hill from the 1800’s. Of course, the names of the locations have changed since then. We see an uninvited aggressor moving towards Sunrisia from the south again, towards our shores, violating our sovereignty and trespassing into our territorial waters. Except this time, they have the globalist organizations to give them “a legal mandate” to trespass. Worst of all, our sovereignty is “mandated” for violation by a “USA team”, half of which will contain citizens and state servants of countries that are not our friends. Neutral states are fine, but this is not the case. Judging from the list of foreign representatives in this “mandated” mission that we were informed of, we might see not only Lindians and Layfetians, whom we do not have a negative outlook towards. But, in that company, we would see the descendants of those same invading barbarians, who were defeated by our ancestors in the Battle of Vitre’s Hill. And we are also supposed to expect representatives of the new aggressor that has been rising up, clawing at us.

When Pantorrum was originally invited to join MDAA and the rest of the member states accepted them, that country was very different. To put it simply, we are talking about Pantorrum with the light blue, white star, red stripe and light blue stars flag. During that tenure of membership and approaching its’ conclusion, the country has hibernated from a moderate and respectful country genuinely upholding democratic values, into what the Connolly regime rules over today. I don’t want to say that we have created a monster, but a Frankenstein allegory is kind of tempting to think about here.

What we see today, is a shard of the former Centismarian Empire trying to reclaim that former glory. Hopefully, our friends in Western Ventismar are not blind to this.

At the Convet, during a session dedicated to discussing the national security hazard and what to expect from the National Defense Council meeting, Sálût Érátân, a Conservative Member of the Convet from the opposition, said the following from a tribune:

These days you have new globalist technologies on how to violate the sovereignty of countries and that is what is being used here. There is an anti-globalist and nationalist sentiment in the world aimed at the new world order. However, countries subscribing to that nationalist, anti-globalist and yes – isolationist point of view, are “uncomfortable” to the countries with geopolitical ambitions, who want everyone integrated into globalist organizations and to use and abuse those supranational institutes to advance their own interests. Sovereign countries that are outside of the jurisdiction of these imposing institutions and which are “outside the matrix” or “woke”, as the kids say today, are more difficult to merge into this globalist new world order that is used and abused by ambitious players in order to spread their influence and suppress those not willing to submit by using “mandated matters.”

When I talked about countries that are outside the jurisdiction of the imposing international institutions, I did not mean that these countries were or should be exempt from what has become known as international law. That is usually the pro-globalist argument used to discredit those countries not wanting to join the USA, wanting to leave the USA or staying out of such similar organizations. Having the right to only speak from the Sunrisian experience, we have always upheld basic conventions of human dignity and dealt with countries bilaterally without the involvement of supranational globalist institutions. The conventions we have upheld coincide with international law. Non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and a ban on testing are just 2 of many. We have even authored international nuclear treaties in the past, no matter which of the many Sunrisian incantations did it.

Point is, it does matter. As I have already said, there are states, organizations, corporations, etc, out there that want everyone “connected to the matrix” one way or the other, so that that everyone is reachable and vulnerable to those who manipulate that matrix in their interests. You get a group of countries, which your country either has non-existent or hostile relations with, they draft up a so-called “USA Resolution” against you, vote on it, it’s passed and boom. Suddenly, you get a clique, which is only a handful of countries out of many sovereign states we have in this world. This clique or a lynch mob of countries, is referred to as – “the international community that has voted”, and under that light blue flag, they have a “legal mandate” to gang up on you.

Moreover, Sunrisia is not a member of the USA and yet it looks like whatever “resolution” was voted on, is going to be enforced on us as law by institutions that are foreign to us. Not only that, but mandate is given to state servants of hostile countries that are going to be trespassing into our territorial waters. The sovereignty of countries is being destroyed and the matrix of the new world order wants to swallow up everyone. Today, it is going after us. Tomorrow, after others. At this point, it no longer matters if you are a member of the USA or not, whether you were in the USA, but wished to withdraw, whether you were not a member of the USA, but wished to join. Your sovereignty is nothing. You are not free. And countries wishing to stay out of the matrix, are piled together into the same group with oppressive and dangerous rogue states to discredit them and take measures to make them submissive.

So, fellow Sunrisians and fellow like-minded nationalists around the world. What are we planning to do about it? Our party hopes to see the President not come out with another disappointing solution this time.

Active campaigning taking place in Daredland ahead of snap elections

Image

Campaigning is moving along in the Daredi Confederation for the snap elections that the government had agreed on in the last anti-government protests. Old forces are coming back into the ring and new forces are emerging. The governing Pro-Liberty Front of a Western Corentian Daredland (PLFWCD) has not been very vocal on whether it would seek reelection or if the parties in the coalition would be breaking up, campaigning separately or forming new coalitions. Political scientists say that PLFWCD will most likely not be seeking reelection and would be breaking up to campaign separately or in new coalitions. The primary reason for such an opinion is that PLFWCD has lost public trust over bad domestic policy in Daredland and that the anti-government protests were mainly focused to force the coalition out of power early. The approval rating of PLFWCD had collapsed prior to the beginning of the anti-government protests.

At the same time there is a side of optimists who say that PLFWCD might still have a chance. Along anti-government protests there were also pro-government demonstrations happening at the same time that supported the government led by PLFWCD. When the government agreed to the snap elections demanded by the anti-government camp, the pro-government camp continued the protest the need for snap elections. Also the signing of the SOWEFTA–Daredland Integration Protocol and establishing an association saw a rapid rise in PLFWCD approval rating. Still many say that PLFWCD might still willingly disband because it has achieved the foreign policy strategy of making Daredland an associate member of both MDAA and SOWEFTA. PLFWCD will probably want a new government or a new political force to continue the work started by PLFWCD and handle Daredland’s further integration into Western Corentian blocs.

President of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan was asked a tough question on whether he was not afraid that the elections loss of PLWCD and of his own Western Corentian Nationalists of Daredland (WCND) party individually might mean that a new government would bring a new Office of the Attorney General that would investigate the PLWCD-led government for alleged corruption. The President answered that he was not afraid of such a possibility.
“I am not afraid for such a possibility because my conscience is clean. I did not steal anything or cheat anywhere. I personally worked for the interests of Daredland to be a free nation and to achieve those ideals we fought for in the Flaming Revolution. If somebody from our government did steal they should be investigated and prosecuted accordingly before law. If the citizens protested with such allegations I don’t think they’re unfounded. There must be something there. If there’s smoke there’s fire.” – Franz Potesinan (WCND), President of the Daredi Confederation

On the opposition front the Party for Central Approach (PCA) and the Social Liberal Party (SLP) will be trying their luck again. The mission of both parties will be to rebuild their reputations destroyed in the wake of the events of the Flaming Revolution. We can already see such attempts being made by PCA and SLP by distancing themselves from the Legion of Germanic Daredland (LGD) party (also campaigning in these elections), criticizing the pan-Germanists and criticizing the leadership of the ousted ex-Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer whom both parties collaborated with. PCA and SLP have also been gathering political points by criticizing the current government in its every step and often being cheered on by the public for it. The government accused PCA and SLP of populism but it had apparently worked for both opposition parties no matter the criticism. Members of PCA and SLP even participated in the last anti-government protests which many saw a disguised beginning of an election campaign.

To gain more voter support PCA and SLP parties are now both promising in their ongoing campaigns to achieve full membership of Daredland in MDAA and SOWEFTA and also resolve the nation’s territorial problems in the occupied parts of Wenigberg and Haspera regions of Daredland. Both opposition parties accused the government of being ineffective or not able to settle these questions to their conclusion. Currently PCA and SLP are campaigning separately but there are talks of both parties possibly forming an alliance or a coalition to further run together. This would give both struggling opposition parties more combined weight against their mutual competition. Of course PCA and SLP have conflicts between themselves in terms of policy. SLP is following a more leftist course while PCA is centrist. These differences put doubt in the possibility of a coalition being formed by both parties.

Parliament Set To Debate Crimanalisation of Wiccan Religion

Image
Pont du Rois, Varlais - In 1957 Parliament, then led by a majority government under the now defunct Christian Conservative Party (CCP), passed the "Religious Freedom Act, 1957" which went into effect on 1 January, 1958. This was a groundbreaking piece of parliamentary legislature, and paved the way for greater freedoms in general for all Varlesians and those who call Varlais their home. It replaced the 1812 act of Parliament which had stated to be a member of government, a judge or lawyer, or to hold several other positions in society you needed to be a member of the Church of Varlais - a church dating to the 16th century which calls itself Catholic and Reformed - though this was amended in 1887 to allow Enurian people who practice the indigenous religion to their people an exception to this law.

The 1957 parliamentary act replaced all of this, however. No longer were you required to belong to the national church to serve in governmental or legal positions. But, as one might suspect, the bill had some caveats resulting from the CCP's Christian-focused nature. One such caveat states that "nonsensical religious, such as Le Chemin du Pirate (The Pirate's Path) may be legislated against and/or be denied rights and protections." Le Chemin du Pirate was a protest religion created in the 1940s by Arthur Chéron, called "Ship's Captain Chéron" by the religions "followers." It promoted freedom for all people "on the great ship of the planet" and a reduction in government. The religion, although considered nonsensical, helped lead to the 1957 law. At its height nearly 1500 people declared themselves members, today less than 100 people list it as their religion.

But one other caveat has more serious implications. Section IV, Paragraph 9 of the law states, "Religions - whether serious in conviction or otherwise - which are antichristian in nature, promote the usage of witchcraft or other demonic arts, promote the worship and practice that is the antithesis to the Christian religion, or are otherwise grossly offensive to the Christian people of Varlais may not be afforded the same rights and protections by the Varlesian government." Inspite of this subsequent governments have afforded equal rights to many religions that would fall under this definition, citing the "genuine belief in the practice of (these) faiths" as justification for granting it equal protection under the law. This has resulted in the creation of a small, closely-knit neo-pagan community in Varlais.

But one of these neo-pagan groups is now under heat following a recent proposal made by the Christian Unity Party to Parliament. The CUP's bill's title, "The Criminalisation of Wicca Bill, 2019", explains precisely what the party seeks. It relies heavily on the words used in Section IV, Paragraph 9 of the 1957 Parliamentary act, stating that "wicca is the worship of the devil's art (ie witchcraft) turned into a religion. It does so promote the practice of witch's shabbaths - consorting with the devil - as 'holidays of the religion' and is an offense to Christian sensibility." Witchcraft remains highly illegal of Varlais due to the Varlesian belief that the unnatural powers a witch (who may be male or female) possesses comes from consorting with the Devil himself. It remains a capital punishment offense for Varlesians, though visiters to the country have nothing to worry about - the laws only apply to those who reside permanently in Varlais.

The Daily Herald interviewed one person who wished to remain anonymous. He identified himself as a priest of the Wiccan faith and led his own coven - a congregation for Wiccans. He stated that the proposed bill in Parliament is an example of "gross misunderstanding of what Wicca is." He stated that while wicca does believe in magic - though they often spell it magick - their view of it is different from a Christian understanding. "We don't believe in these supernatural - and unnatural - abilities. We believe the universe can be influenced and that is all." He also stated that Wiccans do not believe they can influence the universe as a result of the Devil, this "Christian Figure," as he put it, does not exist in the Wiccan religion at all. He concluded our interview by stating he remains optimistic that the majority of Parliament will research his religious faith before voting on the bill - and even stated he would be willing to appear before Parliament to answer questions.

The National Assembly is set to debate the bill on 6 May, with a vote being held on 7 May. If it passes Parliament's Upper House, the Chamber of Nobility, will debate it on the 8th and have their vote on the 9th.

Convet Votes To Declare Martial Law In Sunrisia For 30 Days With Limited Restrictions On Civilian Life Insisted By The Superior Court: Military Placed On High Defensive Alert

LIVE BROADCAST

Image

We now return our attention and our broadcast to the hall of the Convet, where lawmakers have voted in favor of a historic and unprecedented decision not only in the life of the present-day Sunrisian Second Republic or the Sunrisian Nationalist Republic, but in the entire history of Sunrisia. Members of the Convet have voted to impose Martial Law in Sunrisia for 30 days with minimized restrictions on civilian life and the rights of citizens. The latter part of the Martial Law comes in accordance with the orders of the Superior Court of Sunrisia, which ruled against a traditional form of Martial Law with total military control over public life and the state’s normal functions.

Members of the Convet have approved Martial Law in Sunrisia for 30 days at the request of President Válîd Sâlúbĕr. Although reclusive, the President has decided to come out before the Convet in person and speak before the lawmakers from a podium, rather than send National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên to do it. President Sâlúbĕr asked the Convet to approve the imposition of Martial Law in Sunrisia for 30 days. That was a decision made at yesterday’s National Defense Council meeting called up by the commander-in-chief, a meeting which took place behind closed doors. Since the Justice Coalition of Neo-Isolationism and Self-Reliance, which the President’s Centro-Unionist party is part of, holds the majority at the Convet, there was little doubt that the President’s request would be rejected, although the Convet does have a tendency to challenge the administration of the President. However, not only did the majority-holding coalition, but also the opposition parties voted in favor of 30-day Martial Law. This has made the vote nearly unanimous. The President was there during the voting and when it happened and the Speaker announced the vote’s success, the President stood up and applauded before leaving the hall of the Convet.

The National Defense Council settled on imposing Martial Law in Sunrisia for 30 days as a response to the national security threat posed by the actions allowed in a USA “resolution” aimed at the construction of artificial islands in Sunrisia within its’ own territorial waters. The USA “resolution”, voted on by a handful of countries some of which are hard to call “friends” of Sunrisia, but which are classified as the “international community” in this case, issued “a mandate” for foreign trespass into the sovereign waters of Sunrisia without our country’s consent. Moreover, this “mandate” was issued by an organization that Sunrisia is not a member of, but which Sunrisia has upheld coinciding international conventions with and which Sunrisia has been an external partner to in certain periods of our national history. However, despite lack of Sunrisia’s membership in the USA, the organization, or at least a handful of members trying to use the system to advance national security interests, will apparently still try to impose USA jurisdiction onto non-members, thus concluding that nobody is safe from the globalist new world order. As Sálût Érátân, a Conservative Member of the Convet from the opposition, has said – the matrix wants to connect everybody, if we were to paraphrase his statements.

The Martial Law in Sunrisia will be in effect nationwide for 30 days. According to National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên, there were discussions to extend the Martial Law to 60 and even 90 days, but the National Defense Council settled on 30. Also, there was a suggestion to introduce Martial Law only in the southern regions and districts of Sunrisia close to Ispanza, which has been undergoing militarization and an increase in Commonwealth and Commonwealth partner countries’ naval presence on the island country after Sunrisia approved the “Maritime Wall” project. Considering the fact that Sunrisia is “surrounded by enemies”, roughly speaking, from the southern, northern and eastern direction, without counting the neighboring MDAA allies, the National Defense Council settled on a nationwide Martial Law.

The Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) and all of its’ components have been put on high defensiveness alert for the duration of the Martial Law. We are seeing a rise in number of internet searches related to military enlistment in the early hours since the Convet had voted on the imposition of Martial Law.

Emissary for Adversary Exchanges of Sunrisia Avér Inîmīcâ stated:

We see such intentional high-level trespass into the territorial waters of Sunrisia as a national security threat. It is not contraband or refugees trying to get in, but state actors from countries half of which we do not trust and do not want to allow into our country. A “legal mandate” from the USA is just a manipulation of the institution that is the USA in order to advance personal interests. We are also not a member of the USA, so the organization does not have a right to impose its’ jurisdiction onto us and to police what we do at home. If we are doing something harmful to ourselves in our own home, it is our sole responsibility to take care of our home.

Meanwhile, Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér said:

Any trespass into the territorial waters of Sunrisia without permission, is a national security threat, a violation of sovereignty and borderline invasion. Our armed forces have been placed on high defensiveness alert. We will not be launching preemptive strikes, especially on peaceful elements or non-military elements. However, in case of a trespass by military elements, we will be forced to defend ourselves. At that point, it can turn into something ugly, because Sunrisia will have to use everything in its’ disposal, and I do mean everything, to dispose of the aggressor and not only on location, but also the center of aggression, despite its’ geographic location or distance.

The Sunrisian Naval Forces have increased presence along the southern coasts of Sunrisia, close to the location of where the artificial islands are meant to be placed, but further away from the maritime boundary with Ispanza. The Martial Law in Sunrisia for 30 days will begin on April 23rd.

Historic Discovery Made in Southern Rhodevus

Image
Example of Setan Wampum

A discovery has been revealed in from the Marygold Dig Site in Western Rhodevus, earlier this afternoon. Dr. Gregory Hawthorn and his team from the University of Kingstown have unearthed a second nearly fully intact Wampum-covered blade.
Wampum, or native beads, are an extremely valuable historical artifact, as they were used as a system of organization and history prior to the introduction of writing. To this day, wampum are a very ceremonial aspect integral to multiple native groups, including those that make up the Setan Confederation.

What makes the Wampum-covered blade so important, is that it is the second near complete one ever discovered. Blades coated in wampum beads are an invaluable resource to historians and archeologists in the country, as they are used to tell the history of the people that made them.

“Wampum blades are integral to our understanding of, not only the native peoples who inhabit the region, but also in dating important historical events.” Said Dr. Hawthorn. “In a very intricate pattern of clockwise, down the curve, counter-clockwise, up the curve, the beads tell a year-by year history of the group, clan or tribe which made it. The blades are extremely old, each single bead commemorating the most important event of that year. The blade can hold hundreds of beads. Generations could work on a single blade before it’s completion and possessing a completed one? That is essentially an ancient version of a history textbook.”
All that archeologists like Dr. Hawthorn have to do, is match a single bead to a known historical event and corresponding year, and the entire blade’s historic archive falls into place on the timeline.

“For incomplete blades, this is often done by finding a bead made from silk or steel. Those types of beads usually correlate to meeting Ventismarian explorers or colonists for the first time. Other relevant beads can be those made from hardened lava, to denote an earthquake or volcanic eruption. Or even those made from mined-salt, to show a particularly important naval voyage. Dating these beads and relating them to native stories and what information we know currently, we can create a true timeline of events, separating the fact from the fiction.”

A wampum blade such as the one discovered in the Marygold Dig Site will need months or years of further research in order to be fully examined, before it can be revealed to the public.

Ispanzan Ecosystems Set to Collapse?

Image
the Sea Turtle is one of the dozens of endangered species affected by the Sunrisian maritime border wall

A longstanding feud has continued between members of the international community over international cooperation vs individual security. No setting shows this war of ideals better than the small island nation of Ispanza, against the juggernaut of Corentia; Sunrisia. As a member of the Rhodeve Commonwealth, Ispanza possesses strong international relations with many nations across the globe. Unfortunately, none of them happen to be its very own neighbours. The nations of the MDAA, Sunrisia in particular have long since abandoned any pretence of cooperation or diplomacy, in favour of shutting out the tiny nation from regional trade and politics.

The greatest show of force in this regard, has been the Sunrisian Maritime Border Wall. A grouping of man-made islands being constructed directly in front of Sunrisia’s maritime border with Ispanza. The reasoning behind said wall is to promote Sunrisian security, while it is clear that said wall is being used to further cripple the Ispanzan economy, after being forced out of regional trade.

Seeing as no amount of international efforts could help Ispanza in the diplomatic or economic fronts, nations such as Pantorrum, have looked at the issue from an environmental standpoint. The border wall is set to block off a large portion of important seaways, which can have horrendous effects to the ecosystem of the area. This can be especially harmful to the many fragile ecosystems in the Ispanzan islands which hold over 100 endemic species; both plant and animal life.

There are currently 47 non-endemic species listed as endangered by RESI (The Regulatory Environmental Sustainability Initiative) that live in areas of Ispanza closest to the Sunrisia, half of which can be dangerously affected by manmade facilities.
There have been no research into how the Sunrisian wall will affect ocean life in the region. The Sunrisian government has paid no mind to the regional environment, in favour of promoting a false sense of security.

The Ispanzan government has released a call for environmentalists and scientists around the world to look into the wall and find the facts for themselves.

“Let the international community see that Sunrisia, in an effort to maintain their hegemony in the region, will destroy valuable and irreplaceable ecosystems. Don’t take the word of politicians or bureaucrats. Study the research and form opinions. Ispanza can survive this, just as it has survived attacks much worse. But, can our ecosystems? Endangered animals that travel through the area and around the world? Plants that make up the sustenance for dozens of fish which in turn provide sustenance for many thousands or millions of people?” Said Prime Minister Sir Harold Saunders in a press statement.

Ispanza, having been quiet on the issue for so long, has now placed an additional million dollars into ocean sustainability projects, in an effort to curb effects of the Sunrisian wall and Sunrisian construction.

125th Anniversary of the Revolution of 1894

Libra
The entire nation today celebrated the 125th Anniversary of the Revolution. Citizens all over Librira, remember the story of how the people of this nation rose up and overcame many challenges to win a better, freer life for themselves and others.
Celebrations of events commemorating the event started early in the morning in cities and towns across the country. The center of these nationwide festivities was in Libra, which hosted a large military parade, and large public party in 'Revolutionaries Square' complete with free food.

The Annual parade this year however, featured a new twist, in addition to the usual march of Citizen's Organizations and modern military units, were columns dressed in historical Libriran uniforms, some from the revolutionary era, others the 2nd global war, and other still from the cold war. The head of the organization committee for the parade said it was too: "properly reflect on the history that has built us up to what we are today".

The parade was begun with a speech by Premier Ivan Gurov, which focused on the progress Librira has made since the revolution and particularly in the 21st century. He also mentioned how he hoped to see further progress, and striving for peace in Corentia and the world. Premierski Letski was also in attendance, as was several members of the People's Congression, the others were likely taking part in festivities in their local area. Alongside this historic occasion the government unveiled the new Coat of arms, which has traditionally been updated for major anniversary's, the last one being for the 100th anniversary of the revolution, the new Seal had been made official via a proclamation by the Premier and Congressional Representative.

The Premier's Speech summed the day best; "We have struggled and progressed over 125 years and generations of Librirans to make it to this point, let us ensure that our ancestors 125 years from now can celebrate like we are, and enjoy the same prosperity we enjoy".

Government wins motion of no confidence, but will have to face local elections.

The Unitary Government has survived the motion of no-confidence against them by a margin of 54 votes. However, Anderson very narrowly lost the "Declaration of Dissatisfaction and Advancement of Local Elections 2019" bill, put forward by the Communist Party (the 2nd largest party within the chamber). It means that now the Unitary Elections Commission must move forward local elections into the end of May, or even the beginning of June, as the bill was amended by the Speaker of the Unitary Parliament and Unitary Council to make sure there would be more time for campaigning.

The passing of the second bill put forward by the Communists means that the local elections are certainly going to happen in the period aforementioned. Unitary Commissioner Christina Anderson expressed "regret" that the Parliament had put "party interests over the interest of the nation". She called the act "Fruitless and unnecessary". For the first time, we take a look here on S7NN from the major parties news/press releases.

Worker's Daily (Communist Party)

"On Monday the parliament in Aygon has expressed dissatisfaction with the Anderson Commission. The Alternate Liberals have proved themselves over and over that they are wholly incompetent at governance. They peddled lies and falsehoods during their campaign, their local councillors and representatives today cower from their angry electorate. It is right that we remove this government from office by working from the bottom up. General Secretary Jeuves D. Hueves said infront of the Unitary Parliament on Monday, "Today the Damsmarian Parliament has shown that they are not satisfied with the Alt Liberals and their failure of governance. Instead of acting amicably, we see here today that the party has resorted to frustration and condemnation at the very act of democracy which has caused this in the first place".

Commissioner Anderson than arose sharply to call the Communists an undemocratic party. This is a line used many times by the out of touch politicians we currently have in office. We are affirmed to democracy, we are bound by it. Democracy is a kingpin in Socialism, it means power to the people and not power to the corporate elite. A Socialist Damsmar will empower you directly, enhancing democracy with direct democracy. The People will have their will.

The Communist Party will begin our local election campaigning on the 1st of May, as we believe it is very important that we are able to talk and gauge every bodies opinions and wishes throughout Damsmar. Thank you for reading, and have a good day".

Alternate Liberal (Press Release)

"On Monday the Parliament voted to advance local elections into June. Not only do we think that this is unnecessary, but we believe that it is an impediment to the progress of our nation. At a time when Corentia is facing its largest security threats, the rocking of the Damsmarian boat through the use of bills as the ones we saw voted in on Monday is completely unneeded. Last year our nation went to the polls to decide their Commissioner. The Alternate Liberal party however will fight these elections and try to deliver the most councillors and local representatives to government, so we can continue to further the cause of bettering our Union and its people".

United Nationalist Party (Press Release)

"We are disappointed that the Aygonian parliament refused to oust this failing and incompetent government, that has failed everyone in the Seven United. A government which has peddled falsehoods and lies are let off the hook and thus not only the people of Montedoran, but all parts of the Union, are completely disgusted. We voted for the advancement of the local elections but we can't stress enough that this is not the action needed to end the stagnation created by the party in governance, the Alternate Liberals. We need Unitary Elections as soon as possible and that will remain the policy of the United Nationalists".

Damsmarian Unionist Party (Press Release)

"The Damsmarian Unionist party find it regrettable that the parliament even voted on these two destabilising bills. We do not support many of the actions of the Alternate Liberal government, in fact we do not support the vast majority of them. However, we know when it is right to have an election. We can not continue to run our country down by having election after election. Foreign enemies will take advantage of a lack of stability to coerce our nation into further instability, through the use of election interference and even threats as the Engleans have attempted to pursue. The Damsmarian Unionist Party will for the first time contest the local elections and we hope to make huge progress in changing Damsmar for the better, and for good".

B R E A K I N G: Cabinet declares state of emergency on Maximilian Islands,
Calls upon VU common defence clause

Fort West -- Following the tensions that have been building over the past days, with Pantorrum sending a fleet to the Sunrisian sea wall, the Lindian cabinet held an emergency meeting to discuss the geopolitical happenings. In a press conference following their meeting, around 10 o'clock, the cabinet announced they would declare a state of emergency on the Maximilian Islands, located directly in between Ispanza and Sunrisia. The government announced that reservists on the islands would be called upon and that the Rijkswacht (= gendarmerie) department of the islands would gain access to stored military equipment. While it is not clear what specific equipment they will receive, experts say the boost for the Rijkswacht's arsenal most likely consists of mothballed infantry fighting vehicles, anti-tank weaponry, MANPADS and light machine guns. Our defence correspondent summarised it as: "equipment a police officer or border guard would only need when he has to defend against an invasion". In addition, the fleet of six corvettes stationed on the islands are also put on high alert.

While the government has announced the deployment of a fighter squadron, which are confirmed to be equipped with anti-ship missiles, no other plans for reinforcing the islands has been formally acknowledged by the ministry of defence. Unconfirmed sources say that Lindenholt is preparing a larger task force. Unconfirmed sources within the ministry of foreign affairs give conflicting reports on Lindenholt either having already, or being in the process of, invoking the VU's common defence clause -- which would mean that the VU as a whole will respond to a possible incursion of Lindian territorial waters.

The government was clear about the state of emergency only being valid for a week, while having the right to extend it to a month without parliamentary approval. It remains to be seen what the coming days will holdfor these Lindian islands, and for the rest of the world.
