BREAKING: Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer, Vice Chancellor Jan Müller, President of the State Council Terran Schmidt, Vice President of the State Council Jan Mayr and new cabinet all announce resignation

Image

The mystery of Daredi government officials disappearing has now been solved. The Chancellor’s new cabinet, State Council leadership and many lawmakers have all been hiding in the private mansion of Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer. The territory of the mansion has been barricaded and guarded by vast private security. The new Chancellor’s access to this kind of money raises a whole lot of new questions and will might lead to corruption charges. But that is not the news of the hour. The news of the hour is that the short-lived new government of Daredland has announced its resignation. This announcement has been given in a surprise press conference which Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer asked for and announced his home as the location. An agreement was reached with protest leaders that nobody but the journalists would be given access to the barricaded mansion. Journalists from top news companies and independent journalists had arrived at the press conference. It was no so much a question and answer session but an opportunity for journalists to broadcast a historic moment to the public and leave no questions. Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer announced his decision in front of a row of microphones and multiple cameras.

[Spoken in German]: “You have to be fair and give me credit that I did not use the military or the police to end all this chaos. I did not shed blood and allowed our people to exercise their freedom of speech as I promised. It could have gone a lot of worse so it should be recognized that I had averted a civil war. And believe me that a civil war was definitely ahead of us. And this civil war would have still remained a reality today and tomorrow and a week from now and a month from now. A year from now even. But in order for that not to happen I will now take this step and hopefully save many with it. I hereby announce my resignation as the Chancellor of the Daredi Confederacy. I announce my resignation from the government and politics of Daredland for the time being. I might return some day but not now.”

The announcement by now ex-Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer was followed by Vice Chancellor Jan Müller, President of the State Council Terran Schmidt and Vice President of the State Council Jan Mayr pretty much giving the same speech. They announced their own resignation from their posts but not their withdrawal from politics like ex-Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer. They still intend to run in the next national elections within their parties. After their resignation the cabinet picks of ex-Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer confirmed that they would still try to advance in Daredi politics within their own parties. But their current bids in ministerial positions will not be possible for approval because of Schäfer’s resignation as Chancellor.

The press conference with the resignation announcements were broadcast on large screens in Freihat and other cities around the Daredi Confederacy. It is no surprise that loud cheers was the reaction. The remainder of the State Council will now have to call up an emergency session together and appoint interim officials. Because many members of the State Council have fled Freihat it is unknown if the Daredi government will have enough people to fill the empty seats. Members of the Western Corentian Nationalists of Daredland (WCND) party have invited back the lawmakers that fled Freihat during protests out of fear of public anger. These lawmakers are needed to fill the empty seats. Some have already responded to the invitation and announced that they would return if security was guaranteed to them.

Daredis celebrate victory of the ‘Flaming Revolution’

Image

Flags used by protesters during the ‘Flaming Revolution’ (from left to right): Flag of Daredland (national flag), ‘Revolutionary’ Variant (alternate design of the Flag of Daredland), Flag of SOWEFTA (preferred bloc for membership), Flag of MDAA (preferred bloc for membership), Flag of Sunrisia (closest ally of Daredland).

The citizens of the Daredi Confederacy are celebrating the victory of the “Flaming Revolution.” That is the unofficial name given to the change of power that has happened in Daredland because of fire torches serving as the symbol of the uprising. Fireworks are lighting up the sky and impromptu concerts are being organized by musicians in celebration. Instead of protesting the streets of Daredi cities are now seeing dancing and some champagne drinking. Citizens, military, police and defected government officials are all the same nation tonight and rejoicing together. The Daredi government is at a transition. The State Council hall is now filled with members of the Western Corentian Nationalists of Daredland (WCND) party, activists from civil movements and NGOs, opposition politicians. Lawmakers that fled but are expected to return are still awaited after security guarantees had been provided to them. The remaining parties in the State Council will be forming an interim coalition government and appointing acting officials in the top offices of the nation. WCND members said that the next steps in discussion are to declare early elections and possibly plan for a constitutional referendum to avoid future power grabs that have led to the political crisis.

DEVELOPING: Daredi troops and Weniges militia exchange fire, Daredi Konfoderaleswehr suppresses escalation and reinstates cease-fire

Image

The soldiers of the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr literally came under fire today by the Weniges militants. The troops at the demarcation line were fired at by the militants without warning and went into a defense mode. Counter-attacks began but neither side was advancing forward. Everybody remained on their own side of the demarcation line but the bullets were flying across.

The sudden attacks by the Weniges militia made many Daredi troops rush back to the demarcation line for defense. Many servicemen that were in the cities with the protesters were now returning to their post. They sought to help their fellow service members and take part in the defense by the newly aggressive militants. The reaction by the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr was powerful and this hit-back soon made the Weniges militants halt fire. The cease-fire regime was back in place. These attacks are believed to have been caused by the Weniges protest against the revolutionary change in government in Freihat. The militants probably sought to send a message. Konfoderaleswehr generals did not rule out the theory that an invasion might have broken out to undo the effects of the ‘Flaming Revolution.’ That was the initial theory. It was important to hit back hard so that the Konfoderaleswehr made the Weniges militants reconsider any thoughts about attacking further. Some Daredi troops were injured but nobody was killed.

Interim Daredi officials will call out the Weniges leadership for this provocation and violation of an agreed cease-fire. This could also completely negate the chances of the Weniges Representation Front (WRF) participating in the early elections. This ban might happen in retaliation for any future Weniges terrorism. A warning was given to the militant leadership and the WRF party. The Daredi Konfoderaleswehr is now reinforcing the demarcation line with more forces that would keep the Weniges militants from attacking again.

EUSR Submarine Enters Nentergaad Harbor

A dramatic event took place in Nentergaad this morning, as a Eikangaard United Socialist Republic submarine was spotted in Nentergaad Harbor. The submarine was first reported by the crew of the oil tanker GMT Eisenbaarg, shadowing their vessel as it entered the harbor, but was initially reported as a large unidentified whale. It was only later when the submarine surfaced, broadcasts a quick message on all channels and returned beneath the waves that it became clear what the vessel was. Harbor security was quickly called to action, but was unable to arrive to the scene before the submarine escaped the harbor.

The EUSR responded to the act, calling it retaliation for "continued Republican aggression against the people of the EUSR" and that "more incidents would be coming" if the Republic of Eikangaard does not abandon its policy of antagonism towards the EUSR and other nations with communist or syndicalist ideologies. The EUSR has also begun moving army units to the border with the Royal Union, but stated that this move was "precautionary in case the Republic chooses to move its own army through the ROyal Union."

Daredi Government Resigns, WCND Party Fills Parliament; Sangarn-Strelitz Landwehr Claims Konfoderaleswehr at Fault for Escalation

Image
Königliche Sangarn-Strelitz Landwehr Kampfpanzer 95 on Maneuvers outside Dammelsdorf

Strelitz, Principality of Sangarn-Strelitz, Englean Kaiserreich – Yesterday the Daredi Confederacy underwent yet another, albeit unfortunate, change in government. Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer, who had recently been victorious in achieving the highest office in Daredland, announced his resignation to Daredi journalist sources. Following his announcement, the entire Schäfer council followed suit and resigned their posts in the Daredi government. These resignations had fulfilled the victory of the “Flaming Revolution,” which is the name that has been given to the protests that had occurred within Daredland during the past weeks. This “victory” has left the Daredi nation under the control of individuals that are friendly and aligned with the MDAA, which has not been accepted by many Engleans well. Many groups displayed their discontent with the situation today, with the groups being mostly centered in the Western portion of the Kaiserreich. One group spotted today was in the isolated town of Krampfelsberg, in Sangarn-Strelitz. This group identified themselves as “Neu-Steinland Zurück!,” which translates as “New-Steinland Back!” Their name relates to the fact that the territory that Daredland currently possesses was once part of the Kaiserreich, named “Neu-Steinland.” The lead demonstrator, Hans Grümpfel, stated that “Daredland’s in a questionable spot now. It’s just better off back under us.” Another group was spotted at a gas station equipped with two decommissioned Opkrel 776(D) transport vehicles from the early 80s, all wearing decommissioned surplus uniforms. Upon approaching them, their “commanding officer” provided the interview. He identified himself as “Freigeneral” Eberhard Kurtfeld, commander of the “Freikorps Weniges.”Mr. Kurtfeld described his group as “…volunteers who wish to join our brothers in the Weniges Reich in their fight for freedom.” He stated that he has “over 150 members” that are made up of former Wehrmacht soldiers and officers, as well as “many foreigners.” He also stated that he has offered his services to the Weniges Reich, but do not know if they will respond.

While these groups represent a minority who support more radical approaches to the situation, many within the Eastern Kaiserreich approach a more mild tone. In Berlin, many believe that the Kaiserreich should “wait to see what happens” before making any moves. This seems to be the approach in Engelberg, for not much of a reaction has been made public in response to the situation. Reichskanzler von Kluge was not available for comment, but a representative in the Kanzlerpalais stated that the Chancellor is “greatly disappointed in the events in Daredland.” As with situations such as these, many rumours and “leaks” have been originating from the capital. One of these “leaks” state that the Auswartiges Amt has decided to offer a position as Englean ambassador to Daredland to ex-Chancellor Schäfer, or another member of his cabinet if he decides to decline the offer. Currently it is unknown what the future beholds for relations between the Kaiserreich and Daredland. Many assume that the new Daredi government will return to the previous system of alienating the Kaiserreich, and only retaining one method of contact through their special appointment.

In other news on the topic, the Royal Sangarn-Strelitz Landwehr has released a statement on the engagement between the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr and the Weniges Reich. Chief Inspector for the Weniges Reich Situation k.u.k. Oberst-Inspektor Helmuth von der Mansen stated today in Strelitz that Sangarn-Strelitz intelligence sources “provide a different situation to that stated by the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr.” Translated from East Sangarn German:

Today the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr was reported to have been brought under fire by forces of the Weniges Reich, but sources provided to the Sangarn-Strelitz Landwehr bring a different situation than that presented to the public. We have multiple sources that depict the Konfoderaleswehr as the instigating force in this engagement, with the Weniges Reich soldiers firing upon Daredi forces in defence. As of now, the Royal Sangarn-Strelitz Landwehr has been ordered to reinforce the Englean-Weniges border for preparation for further hostilities in the area. His Majesty Prince Leopold IV has not approved of any further actions at this time.

It is important to recognise that this statement is from the Principality of Sängern-Strelitz, an autonomous member state of the Englean Kaiserreich. Currently the Imperial bodies of the Wehrmacht and Abwehr have not commented on the situation. As this Daredi question continues to develop, it is bringing into question the future relations between the Kaiserreich and Daredland. Will the latter officially join the MDAA, or take a neutral stance between the two blocs? At this moment, nobody can say for sure.

Interim government forming in Daredland, Hasperan leadership has mixed reactions towards the ‘Flaming Revolution’

Image

The separatist territory of the Hasperan Republic has not picked up weapons against Daredland so far. It hasn’t happened during their initial separation and it does not seem like the Hasperan Republic is going down that route. But the separatist leadership had mixed reactions to the change of government in Freihat. The Hasperan leadership is happy that the ‘Pan-Germanists’ were removed which the Hasperan leadership had much hate for. The Weniges crisis and rise of pan-Germanic forces has been admitted to be the cause of why the secessionist Hasperan Republic was declared in the first place. Hasperan separatist officials believed that the end to the Daredi state was imminent. They predicted either the collapse of the Confederacy or the annexation of Daredland by the Englean Kaiserreich. In some instances they believed in both scenarios happening in a row. They justified the separation of certain territories of Haspera and forming the Hasperan Republic. This act was referred to as an escape from a sinking ship that was the Daredi Confederacy according to them.

The resignation of government brought by the ‘Flaming Revolution’ was initially seen as a positive occurrence by the Hasperan officials. But they are now slightly intimidated. Since seceding the Hasperan Republic formed a strict authoritarian government that suppressed the freedom of speech. Resistance, protests or disobedience were strictly cracked down on by police. Any mention of protest or revolution has been uncomfortable for Hasperan separatist officials. They are happy to see the ‘Pan-Germanists’ gone but they do not want to see the Hasperan populace taking inspiration from the ‘Flaming Revolution.’ That explains the increase of police on Hasperan streets. The Hasperan Republic remains strongly isolated so it is difficult to know what exactly is the situation like in there. Citizens who can see the Hasperan Republic from the Daredi side say that it is very ‘eerie.’ Hasperan leaders sent a message to the interim Daredi officials where they said that they are happy to see the Schäfer government gone but the Hasperan Republic has no plans of returning to the Daredi Confederacy.

Speaking of interim officials the State Council is in the process of appointing an interim government. Temporary officials have been placed in the primary and most important offices. Other officers are still to be appointed. Franz Potesinan of the Western Corentian Nationalists of Daredland (WCND) party has become the Interim Chancellor of the Daredi Confederacy. A fellow WCND party member has become Hans Arobat has become an Interim Vice Chancellor. The State Council of the Daredi Confederacy will be temporarily headed by people from two political movements that played influential roles in the ‘Flaming Revolution.’ Luca Sveriger from People's Power (PP) has been voted in as Interim President of the State Council of the Daredi Confederacy. Caifi Habsburg from Civic Duty (CD) is the Interim Vice President of the State Council of the Daredi Confederacy. The Ministers and the interim cabinet will be appointed by the State Council and not by the Interim Chancellor but the Interim Chancellor will get a chance to offer his picks. The first order for the State Council will be to appoint the temporary State Constitutional Court. Interim President of the State Council Luca Sveriger says that the State Council will also vote to make the final climactic day of the ‘Flaming Revolution’ a national holiday. Interim Chancellor Franz Potesinan declared that awaits Daredland next is early elections and a constitutional referendum. Both expected to happen concurrently.

SUNALAYA MET OFFICE WEATHER REPORT ISSUED 16/09/2018

This is the weekly capital weather report for nations signed up to the SunalayaMet program. Our super computers in Damsmar process everyday millions of pieces of information to put together and create a seven day forecast which is issued here each Sunday. Of course, reliability wanes the further you go from day three so please keep that in mind when reviewing forecasts. This forecast is issued privately through the Sunalaya International News interface.

OOC: The forecast is not random. Each day a pressure map is drawn from Monday to Friday, simulating the likely weather evolution from the beginning pattern. A degree of real life weather maps is used to start the maps, then it is 100% my own input which decides the pressure gradients, and thus the weather for everybody. I try not to go too extreme and will always ask a nation if they are willing for a weather event if there is one likely.

Tensions flare in Eikangaard

This month has seen a recent spike in activity between the 3 split parts of Eikangaard. The most recent of which saw an EUSR attack submarine enter another states harbor. The Libriran government has come out still voicing their support for the EUSR. Viktor Frandozakov a representative from East Rubezka stated; " Our comrades in the EUSR, though they have established themselves as an independent socialist nation, are still under constant threat from imperialists and counter-revolutionaries both within and outside their borders. As such I strongly support the People's United Republic of Librira taking a strong position and supporting them".

Earlier this year Librira sold a large amount of arms and support equipment to the fledgling nation, which has been able to employ them to great effect to discourage infringement on their borders. Rumors have been circulating about another possible sale of military goods to the EUSR in the works. The sales are expected to include small-arms, supplies, and possibly larger weapons systems, such as missiles, ships or tanks. However, it won't be known for sure until confirmed by the Secretariat of Oversight and statistics. The Secretariat of Foreign Relations and trade has declined to comment officially on plans for any trade deals with the EUSR.

The most recent incident in Eikangaard has however brought some criticism, with one defense official calling it "perhaps a bit too eager or zealous". A defense expert from Murkova, Pavel F. said the incident was "Interesting [that they penetrated the harbors defenses and escaped] but more harmful to the EUSRs cause, by making them seem as an aggressor." The incident has also brought on fears of a potential conflict in the region, The Secretariat of Defense has placed the 16th Guards Airborne Rifle Regiment (VDV) on standby for immediate deployment to the EUSR in the event of another war in the region. A representative from the Secretariat gave a statement regarding the move; "Although we hope a war will not break out, the People's United Republic intends of assisting in the Defense of its allies if needed, be it via direct or indirect intervention"

A Blight to Humanity

National Inquiry

Jack Russel

This week, in Daredland, in Baggnagia, in Eikangaard, around the world, instability brews. Governments disappear, only to resign without warning. Gunfire rings in isolated places, submarines provoke neighbors. Violence, as usual, is the language with the world speaks. Upon hearing news of this instability in Parliament, Senator Mitch Ceron had this to say:

This rubbish has to stop. For almost twelve years, civil wars, instability, and economic crashes have been rocking this world. I say it's stop to stop. Stop being savages. Stop using your guns for every problem. Listen to your people. Listen to those you're at odds with. To hell with instability! I refuse to let our soldiers die for these conflicts, I'm sick of shelling our our money for broken systems and stubborn bueracrats. Work with your people and the global community or get the hell out of power. You're unwanted, you're a blight to humanity. And I'm sick of your rubbish.

This passionate outburst, while certainty extreme, seems to capture the disappointment Parliament has in Eikangaard and in the Weniges Republic. The provoking tactics used by the nations of Eikangaard and the troops of Weniges have been denounced as "acts of aggression". Parliament has urged all parties to try to come together and attempt to find a peaceful solution to their troubles. In addition, Parliament has asked Engleberg and Librira to "stand-down", claiming that moving troops and pledging to support a side only throws fire onto the conflict. Parliament has declared that any more acts of aggression will be meet with sanctions and "will not be tolerated".

In Eastern Rezua, where the Summer War and Second Civil War were most bloody, citizens have begun to protest. In Rundofgard, citizens have started to go on general strike in "protest to wasting Rezuan lives on other people's problems". A protest leader, Mindy Vilanie had this to say:

For centuries, the men of eastern Rezua have gone of, crusading for our people, our culture. And for centuries, waves of our men have died, killed in far-flung corners of the world. Killed fighting for greedy kings. Killed followed the edicts of emperors, tsars, and popes. Killed fighting for ungrateful sons of bitches. This is bullshit. Rezua has been trying to expand for hundreds of years. The Everens promised they'd end this pointless waste of our lives. But still, our blood is spilled by the thousands of gallons. We die for a broken world. A world not worth fighting for. The nations of Sunalaya have given up on world peace. It's time we do the same. This is our land. It's time we focus on it and stop sending our children to fix the world's problems or causing them. And Empress Ymira: you should be ashamed. Your grandfather and father united this nation peaceful. They didn't cast our lives away to be the world police. You insult their legacy with your pointless wars. Leave our sons and daughters out of your power play."

Despite these vocal protests, many have come to the empress' open hours to express their support of our decision to continue to aid the cause for world peace. Representatives from the east are currently in talks with their people, trying to calm them down and console them.

Also, for the first time in weeks, Empress Ymira has directly addressed the nation. This week, she speaks against violence:

I would like to ask the people of Eikangaard, of Daredland, of Engleberg, and of Librira to take a step back. I'd like to ask North Baggnagia to stop making threats with its military. I would like to ask the world to stop trying to kill itself. We are all sharing this place together, the deaths of people half-way across the world affect us. Violence is a domino effect, once one nation falls to civil war, the rest shall fall to instability. When a neighbors go to war, it causes others to look for weakness in their neighbor. If we do not act, our world will crumble. This is why I shall not tolerate violence or in-hospitality.

Dirkhizistan is the perfect example of a hostile state. They have repressed their people, have arrested their Orilyan guests for listening to western music, for having fun in their cultural way. They defy common decency, they divide their people when they should be building them up. For this reason, I, Sovereigness of the Rezuan Empire, call for an embargo on Dirkhizistan. They are the first fallen domino in a series of violence acts. To those who wish to do the same as Dirkhizistan has done, you have been warned. I will not tolerate murder, or instability, or the ignoring of an entire people. It's time to stop this domino effect. It's time to stop these conflicts. If any nation or people cannot come together, I offer my capital as a neutral meeting ground. I will listen to all sides and try to help in anyway that I can. To those in power in Dirkhizistan: it's not too late. Stop the segregation of your people, your witch hunt for westerners and for homosexuals. I cannot help you if you aren't willing to listen. Perhaps this embargo will help you realize just how much you need the world. How important it is for the world to stand together.

BREAKING NEWS: Dirkhiz Government imprison 28 Orilyan Holidaymakers

Image
Orilyan Embassy in Dirkhizstan
Earlier today 28 Orilyan tourists in Dirkhizstan were arrested in the city of Buday Belgisi, they were arrested for minor charges; mainly drunk and disorderly and anti-social behaviour but are now potentially facing death sentences. This unsurprisingly has caused outrage in Ortos, some are speculating that this is a response to Orilya’s decision to participate in the Pantorrum’s war drills in Parcea. This is the first time in Orilyan history that a large group of Orilyan citizens have ever been detained by a foreign government and as a result many in the Orilyan government are at a loss on how to react to this incident. Most believe that the solution is to negotiate with the Dirkhiz government for the tourist’s release and in exchange the tourists should be barred from ever visiting Dirkhizstan again. Prime Minister Edelera made a statement in Parliament today: “May I start this statement by saying that my thoughts are with the tourists and their families, and I hope for a quick peaceful end to this ordeal. The Orilyan government respects the sovereignty of Dirkhizstan and their right to pass legislation that align with their culture and religion; that being said the Orilyan Government askes that President Nazarxon be conscious of the cultural differences between our two nations and take into account how these tourists would not necessarily have viewed these actions as crimes. Currently our only requests are that the identity of the tourists be given to us and that the Dirkhiz government negotiates with the Orilyan Ambassador to Dirkhizstan Rico Drivas as soon as possible. Orilya would prefer that these tourists be returned to us without harm; but should the Dirkhiz government decide that these tourists are to be given lengthy prison sentences or death sentences there will be repercussions.”. Following this statement some concerns have been raised over Ambassador Drivas’ ability to carry out such a task considering that Dirkhizstan is a minor posting for the Orilyan Foreign office and the limited resources of the Dirkhizstan embassy.

Other Officials have also commented on the Crisis in Dirkhizstan, Rhea Livas the head of the Syndicalists party in the Central Chamber had this to say: “Although we in the Syndicalist Party hope the tourists can be freed, we have to ask what were they doing there in Dirkizstan? With all the news that has been coming out of there why are people choosing to visit and if the news we have received from Dirkizstan is to be believed then our tourists were deliberately violating Dirkhiz Law. Also the foreign office placed a Red Travel Warning on visiting Dirkhizstan the highest level before an outright ban. This has to be taken into account during our negotiations with the Dirkhiz government and must have a bearing on our response.”. Supremacist Leader Elias Lasko had a significantly different opinion on the matter: “This is an Outrage! How dare Dirkizstan take our people hostage, our response needs to be strong and decisive, Parliament should demand that General Ezheva and the Defence Board take action against Dirkistan and bring our people home.” On the topic of the Defence Board they have yet to release a statement on the issue with the only information from them so far being that unless they are specifically requested they will not take action unless Orilyan lives are in imminent danger.

Convet Passes Daredland Reinforcement Resolution

Image

In the aftermath of the “Flaming Revolution” in Daredland, the Sunrisian Convet has passed – the Daredland Reinforcement Resolution. The bill is a prepared aid package from Sunrisia to Daredland, which the Sunrisian government considered earlier, but the final decision was made after a skirmish on the Daredi–Weniges demarcation line shortly after the change of power as a result of the “Flaming Revolution.” According to reports from Daredi media, the Weniges militants violated the cease-fire and launched attacks against Daredi troops stationed along the demarcation line that separates the Weniges Reich from the rest of Daredland. The Daredi Military gave a strong response and reinstated the cease-fire. The theory is that the Weniges militants wanted to send a message of protest against the revolution in Daredland that removed a like-minded government that the Weniges Reich favored. Stability appears to have been reinstated.

The Daredland Reinforcement Resolution contains a diplomatic declaration of 2 parts. Part 1 voices support for free and fair elections in Daredland, which would bring recognition for the new post-revolution government that will come to power in replacement of the deposed government. Part 2 voices support for the territorial integrity of the Confederacy of Daredland in the face of the Weniges and Hasperan crises. This part does not reject the principal that the right to self-determination should be supported, which means that the Sunrisian side still believes in the necessity for Daredland or any country to respect the right to self-determination. Nevertheless, the current Weniges and Hasperan crises do not fall into the self-determination category, considering that one secession was carried out by militants that seized control, while the other had defecting officials declared secession of lands they were governing. Neither case had a plebiscite, referendum, a vote of any kind or an expression of the inhabitant will, not even on the street. The existence of the separate Hasperan Republic saw police crackdown on protests and the existence of the Weniges Reich saw militant terrorism prohibit resistance. The ambiguous role of the Englean Kaiserreich and its military forces also contains the possible factor of foreign occupation of detached Daredi land. Considering those specifics of the Hasperan and Weniges crises, the support for the territorial integrity of Daredland remains and the diplomatic position on this issue will not shift.

On the practical side, the Daredland Reinforcement Resolution contains the clauses of economic and military assistance, along with NGO support. Within the range of its’ present capabilities, Sunrisia would help Daredland get its economy on track and move it forward. The military assistance clause would involve efforts by the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) to help the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr (the country’s military) stay up-to-date with armaments, tech and training. The NGO clause would focus on the civil society and non-government institutions. Sunrisia had already previously redirected the majority of its’ financial aid to non-government institutions in Daredland, but there was an expected conflict of interest with the previous Daredi government, which saw this as a hostile step. The Sâlúbĕr administration expects that the interim government and its’ successors will be more cooperative in this case under shared values. After the Convet passed the Daredland Reinforcement Resolution, the new Speaker of the Convet stated the following:

Apart from the humanitarian part of the issues, a stable, safe and successful Daredland aligns with the national interests of many nearby countries. There is a greater security guarantee, when your neighbor’s house is not on fire or does not have questionable intruders occupying it after a home invasion. There is also collective prosperity through cooperation, as well as harmony. If we have these simple and understandable things in place, then everybody walks away a winner. Except, of course, for those who want to see the world burn, however, they are part of the problem so the satisfaction of their interests is not really a priority, to say the least.

President Válîd Sâlúbĕr issued a brief statement of his own, which was related to the “Flaming Revolution” and the Daredi transition:

From this point on, I wish liberty, prosperity and harmony to your people and your country. A hopeful tomorrow. Great things are ahead of you and I ask that you never stop believing in yourselves. If you request, we will help you with what we can, but you are the architects of your destiny and you will be the ones to lead your nation to success. I believe that you will do some great things. Some parts of my message to you do contain banal things, like the political system, economic development, democracy, etc. However, apart from success in those areas of state development, I believe that you, as citizens, will have great lives ahead of you. Lives of excitement, passion, discovery and rediscovery, creating the positive and overcoming the negative without the prolongation of sadness or fear. Not a life of slogans or artificial materialistic ideals that supposedly should make you happy, but a life of pleasure and no regret. You will overcome the current growing pains and enter the next chapter of Daredi history. There is no ceiling to your growth. You can and should continue marching forward. You can do anything in the world, which is why I hope you will grasp your true potential as a nation and give it a shot. As friends, we will support you on this path, but we trust that you will develop the strength to stand on your own as well. We will be your positive reinforcement, but you are the center of your universe.

Center City Times
Outrage Over Daredland-Some Take It To The Streets, While Some MPs Discuss Hasperean Issue
With the recent resignation of Daredland's top officials after facing strong opposition from their populace, many wonder what direction the nearby nation will take after the disposal of the previous government. The largest hope for those near and far is for the people of Daredland to establish a government that appeals to the masses rather than a select few groups. Of course, there is still opposing regions that wish to not be under Daredi rule, notably being the Weniges and Hasperean movements, that wish to follow their own paths and align with whom they feel is the best fit. Despite what looks to be helping hands being extended by other nations around Corentia, there is a growing number of Belanticans who are concerned for the integrity of the Daredi nations with so much foreign influence being pumped in. A group of around 1,500 demonstrators who are showing discontent with these nations getting involved in internal Daredi affairs were present in Century Square today, waving signs and shouting chants, while remaining under the watchful eyes of the Metropolitan Police and CCPD, which have increased their presence in Center City ever since the rioting a few months ago. No arrests were made, and the protest is remaining peaceful, with it's organizers cooperating with police to avoid any conflicts.

"The fact of the manner is that Daredland is still in dire straits," said one protester, claiming to be of Daredi ancestry, "the main issue with it now is you have all these powers from outside Daredland mind you, that are trying to push the country to their side for the sake of establishing dominance over the region. Sure, the Sunrisians may be trying to do something noble, but they way they're going about it looks like they're just trying to buy the opinions of the people just to keep pushing their own agenda across the continent. On the other side of the coin, you got the Engleans who are, from what I saw and heard in the news, trying to incite violence between the Weniges separatists and the Daredi nation. I'm not sure what the Englean motives are over the WR, but I feel like they're trying to use the whole situation to shamelessly expand their own borders at the expense of other nations, which is why it seems they put a lot of support behind the former chancellor before he resigned from his position. In other words, it's a bloody mess, and those two nations should have shame going around Daredland, and carving it up for their own gains while trying to present a friendly image. So yes, I think the Sunrisians are feeding us a load of BS, and the Engleans are trying to pull any bit of land with German-speakers under their wing. I say to my brothers and sisters in Daredland to keep both of these nations out, and forge their own path without foreigners meddling in their national affairs. But, who the hell cares what I have to say? We know that the UQs are going to sit on their hands as normal with this one, as they do with any crisis."

Meanwhile, a few MPs within the Belantic Parliament are discussing the current status of the breakaway Hasperean Republic in western Daredland. These MPs feel that with support being put behind Daredland and the Weniges Republic, that some support should be shown for the more peaceful of the two breakaway states. MP Christopher McGuiness (Conservative Party) stated that the "Hasperean voice is there, but isn't really being heard from" and said that the government of Belantica should "make an attempt to see what is going on in the HR and possibly find a way to open dialogue with their leadership." It is uncertain whether this will actually happen or not due to the delicate nature of the Daredi Crisis. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now reviewing the situation, and waiting for the interim government to be established before proceeding with Daredland proper. The Ministry of Defense is still remaining on alert in case tensions rise once more, but currently, their outlook is that the situations "has reached a climax and beginning to cool down." We suspect that the Deradi issue will remains in the chambers of Parliament for some time.

Police Searches Homes Of Suspected Revolution Agitators

Police in Aurisi and Vesvai’s other cities are holding a series of searches with a warrants. The officers are looking through the homes of people that were recognized as ‘Revolution Agitators’. These individuals are blamed for promoting the dangerous idea that citizens of Vesvai should take Daredland’s Flaming Revolution as an inspiration and wish a similar situation in Vesvai. The government recognized these public calls or suggestions as acts of extremism. Officers are disclosing the identities of these agitators on a nationwide level. These people would be arrested if found that they participated in revolution agitation. But there is also a possibility that the suspects would see heavy fines. They would have a chance to defend their position in court too. The majority of suspects will be taken in for questioning. The police also picked up agitators off the street who were said to have violated the curfew and promoting dangerous political messages against public order. The officers will review the allegiance and connections of these individuals. Depending on the findings they might be transferred to higher structures such as national security agencies.

Ministry Of Media And Information Created

Vesvai’s parliament is seeing a very busy week. MPs have reviewed Vesvai’s monetary contributions to joint Commonwealth structures. The VHU majority-holding party says that Vesvai may need to increase various contributions but there is no clear conclusion. The parliament will have to finish reviewing if Vesvai has been contributing enough, said PM Jonathan Mollisal. Another big step by the VHU-led parliament was the given approval to add a new department to the cabinet. The parliament voted for the approval to create the Ministry of Media and Information. This department would be responsible for overseeing information flow in Vesvai and countering foreign informational warfare with foreign propaganda. The creation of the Ministry would mean that the parliament would soon need to approve a Minister that would head the new department.

Vesvai’s Military To Create An Information Division

The Ministry of Media and Information of Vesvai is a political department. But it will also have an assisting force in the military soon. The Royal Vesvaian Security Forces will be creating an information division directly responsible for Vesvai’s role in the informational and propaganda warfare. The upcoming creation of this department was announced by Vesvai’s Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit. The now-nameless information division will work together with the Ministry Of Media And Information to fight on Vesvai’s behalf in international propaganda wars. This is deemed necessary for national security.

State Security And Agencies Given Easier Access To Anti-Extremist Internet Policing

The parliament allowed Vesvai’s agencies to have a stronger access to internet policing against extremism. A legal basis was created for this by the parliament who made changes to existing internet freedom laws. The courts will no longer be able to restrict the agencies’ work on Vesvai’s internet. It is a controversial policy that the citizens will have to adapt to in the name of national security. MPs say that the current times are the age of terrorism and anti-state extremism that Vesvai has to fight back against. There are many enemies of Vesvai inside and out.

EUSR and Open Elections?

A surprising announcement has come out of the Eikangaard United Socialist Republics today, detailing the nation's plans to allow free and open elections in the country. These elections would be conducted at all levels of government, form the smallest Community to Nation-wide leadership elections. The going idea is that national leadership elections would take place once every five years, with community elections taking place annually. Following the announcement, Premier Janet Maass of the EUSR made a rare public appearance to outline the reasoning behind the decision.

"Our revolution was built upon the idea that the people of Eikangaard should be free from the burdens of exploitation by the powers that be. This was our mentality from day one. This is why our nation rose to the place it was today, because our message spoke to the downtrodden, the weak, the sick, and the hungry. But time and again we have seen nations, who share our original message, slowly and overtime morph into the very thing they fought against. An oppressive force. A sinlge group of men and women who further concentrate power and wealth unto themselves at the expense of their people.

It is for this reason that we have come to the decision that, if the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic is to remain true to its original message of supporting the people, that it should be lead by the people. The people should always have a voice, as it is you who made it possible for us to make it this far. As such, we have already begun drafting together processes for open elections at all levels of administration, wherein parties may form and their members may run for office to further secure the future of our great nation. Through this, we hope to give our people a voice, so that their voices are not quashed under the boot of a privileged few."

The EUSR leadership further clarified that they are working towards setting up institutions to oversee these elections, and that they aim to have these institutions, and the rules which will govern the conduct of these elections, set up before elections are to take place. The current goal is to be able to officially kick off the campaign process of the elections by the end of the year, to hopefully elect an official Premier and community officials in the early months of 2019. While it was not expressly stated, these elections are also expected to follow or come packaged with the expected ratification of the official EUSR Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.

Royal Union Announces "True Neutrality" in Coming Conflict

The Royal Union of Eikangaard, sandwiched between two far more powerful nations, is looking at becoming a battleground should war be declared between the EUSR and Republic of Eikangaard. With its military dwarfed by its neighbors and its failing economy making it difficult for it to even maintain that, the nation has announced that it would not attempt to directly engage either party should they cross into its borders on route to attack the other. The reason being that they simply can't, and that attempting to do so would mean the death of the nation.

The Eikan Royal Army and Air Force have been seen abandoning bases and positions on the nation's borders, and evacuating all personnel from areas projected to be the most likely battlegrounds in the coming conflict. The nation's remaining armed forces will be redeployed along the eastern half of the country. The Royal Union is advising its citizens to pursue a similar evacuation plan, and has confirmed that they will not attempt to rescue any citizens who choose to remain. The ROyal Union went on to state that it will back neither side in the upcoming conflict.

Parliament Passes Controversial Mandatory Voting Law

Vesvai’s VHU-led parliament has passed the controversial law on mandatory voting in the elections. From now on, Vesvaians will be required to turn up to local and national elections or face a fine. The specific numbers of the fines to law violators will be revealed later because calculations are still underway what the price should be. The voting on this law was obviously boycotted by the AIT opposition coalition who continues to regularly not attend parliamentary sessions in protest. AIT still questions the legitimacy of VHU-led government and the fairness of last general election results. The Supreme Court has concluded that the vote was fair so the VHU minds the opinion of AIT less every day. It only makes it easier for VHU-initiated bills to pass easier in the parliament. That is because AIT boycotts and does not participate in the voting. The current situation was not different. The vote was obviously made easier for the ruling VHU party who passed the bill unopposed. The law was the initiative of VHU.

According to the new law, Vesvaians will be required to physically show up for elections. They will not be required to actually cast a vote if they do not support any parties or candidates. They are free to ruin their ballots and waste their votes if that is their citizen position. But the physical appearance in the voting stations will be obligatory and they will have to register their attendance in possession of a passport or an ID. Citizens who manage to register their attendance by the end of the voting period will be left to walk away freely. Their appearance will be registered in the data base. Citizens failing to show up will be contacted after the end of the voting days (past deadline) and required to pay a fine by local police. Just like for conscripts or tax evaders, it will be difficult to hide from the law because of the citizens being in the national database. Avoiders of civic duty will face lighter penalties than serious criminals but they will still experience backlash from the law. The new law comes into force starting Monday.

PM Jonathan Mollisal defended his party’s new initiative: “[T]his is absolutely necessary. We have people in this nation trying to destroy our political system. We have a refusal to recognize the results of our election and they are still riding this horse. This is deadly skepticism towards our system and if everybody starts boycotting it, our society will collapse. We have opposition MPs regularly not showing up to the parliament or doing any voting. They don’t vote against, they just don’t vote at all. Of course it’s good for our party that we have no opposition to our bills but you know…the opposition still has to do its part. We had enough accusations of our government being autocracy so please, form an effective opposition and join the politics. Go vote at least if you are already an opposition MP.

My point or rather our party’s point, is that this uncontrollable boycott of voting is already screwing up how our parliament functions and we are getting angry accusations of making all the decisions. Supposedly we don’t listen to the opposition. Well that’s because the opposition is silencing itself. The danger is that this trend may influence our citizens. We are already seeing Vesvaians withdrawing from politics. People are listening to opposition MPs and not attending any elections anymore. The turnout keeps collapsing with each new vote. If we don’t have a decent turnout then not a single election could be considered legit. And we can’t just keep having second, third, fourth and who knows how many more rounds. Each round can only lead to a lower turnout if this trend keeps up. The minority of our nation’s active citizens will only end up being screwed over by a lazy or stubborn majority. And not only that. All of you out there who don’t want to vote only end up screwing over yourselves. You are not harming us or voicing a protest. You are harming yourselves by throwing your vote away and stagnating our politics. We need to put an end to this before our nation holds a referendum on something or before we have our next general election. Trust us that we don’t want to experience the same social chaos that the last general election brought. Our party had enough headache. Don’t misinterpret my words as a hint that we won’t run again because we will.

We need a turnout and we need to educate our citizens to participate in our politics. Voting is the same civic duty as military service in Vesvai. Those who will still refuse to show up and would rather pay fines, well…you will only end up compensating our nation for the losses, stagnation and problems that you cause us. It’s your money so I suggest you rethink your position. I think that after the Ministry of Finance announces what should be the size of this fine then maybe you’ll think twice.”

New Vesvai As A Buffer State Between ROVAA And MDAA

Professor Andreas Fasilita of the University of Aurisi made a controversial suggestion addressed at the VHU-led government. The professor suggested that PM Jonathan Mollisal and the VHU party review their opinion of New Vesvai. Professor Fasilita holds a positive view of New Vesvai himself but he approached the issue from the government’s point of view.

“The Prime Minister and the government’s party should look at it this way. New Vesvai now functions as a buffer state between ROVAA and MDAA. New Vesvai does not plan to declare independence so the integrity of Vesvai persists. But the physical existence of New Vesvai and its self-governance is positive for regional security. New Vesvai physically separates ROVAA and MDAA. Both military blocs are not forced into an uncomfortable proximity to each other and do not share a direct border. ROVAA and MDAA troops will not be put into the awkward position of having to stare each other down or be prepared to go at it. The existence of New Vesvai has a positive effect on the security interests of ROVAA and MDAA. It may be controversial but look at it from a practical and “smart” point of view.

There is another positive result of New Vesvai’s existence. Vesvaians that do not align with the government’s pro-ROVAA and pro-Commonwealth views can look at New Vesvai as a beacon of hope for them. They can even move to that territory and live in a kind of Vesvai that they want to. The existence of a literal alternative Vesvai lowers the chance of a political clash inside the Dominion of Vesvai. Stop seeing New Vesvai as a threat and recognize the positives it has brought for once.”

The words of Professor Andreas Fasilita made many online activists worried for him. The police in Aurisi and other cities has already searched the homes and questioned people accused of calling for a revolution. The University Professor could be accused of questioning the territorial integrity of Vesvai and jailed for extremism. VHU party members have already dismissed the professor’s words as “nonsensical” and “dangerous.” A reaction from PM Jonathan Mollisal has not come yet. But someone that did directly react to Professor Andreas Fasilita was Governor-General Andrew Gaileta.

“You are absolutely wrong! The existence of New Vesvai is a national security hazard, a hazard for ROVAA and a hazard for the Commonwealth. If New Vesvai is allowed to calmly exist further then there is a risk that they will seek independence. And if New Vesvai does win independence and becomes a nation instead of just a self-governing subject, then we’ll have trouble.

Let’s start at the beginning. You said that New Vesvai is a buffer state between ROVAA and MDAA. That is partially true but only partially. They still have an alliance with Sunrisia. That means that Sunrisian forces could appear in New Vesvai at any moment. They might not be there now but if we try to rightfully reunite the island into one nation under one government, then the Sunrisians can deploy there very quick. The whole buffer situation will end very soon in such case.

Now onto a second issue. New Vesvai may seek independence if it continues to freely exist like it does now. I am confident that they indeed will try to secede and we are moving towards that because we are not pressuring them enough. If New Vesvai becomes a state I’m ready to bet all of my life’s savings that they will seek to join MDAA. And if that happens your buffer state argument will fall apart again.

The final issue. New Vesvai is a parallel government. Vesvai should only have one government and that is the one that sits in Aurisi right now. I know that we changed our constitution to One Nation, Two Systems but I opposed that from the start. I think the Prime Minister and VHU rushed that decision. An existence of another government in parallel with the legal one creates a big risk. The government of New Vesvai may seek to replace the government in Aurisi. If that happens then we’ll not just completely lose the southern quarter of the island but the whole island. Vesvai will be torn away from the Rhodeve Crown and I can’t let that happen. I won’t let that happen. I will die before I let that happen.

The government should apply political, economic and military pressure to lead to the necessary disintegration of New Vesvai as soon as possible. We need to re-establish the unity of this nation and return to a unitary system. We should ask our ROVAA and Commonwealth allies to help us in this quest of ending New Vesvai.”

New Tax Incentives to Come

Early today, Rhodevus's Ministry for Energy released their new goal for energy production for the year of 2019. Like always, these goals are on the unrealistic side, but are used as a 'best-of-the-best-case-scenario' for the year. The nearly 100 page document goes over dozens of different things, including energy consumption, energy production, CO2 emissions per capita, GHG emissions by industries, energy breakdown by industry and sector and others.

What makes this document so important for businesses, both in Rhodevus and internationally, is that its goals often lead to tax breaks and incentives to help push for those goals. Along with the expected growth in solar (3% -> 3.9%), wind (4% -> 5%) and massive growth in geothermal production (1% -> 5.2%), large amounts of growth is hoped for in two unexpected places. Tidal or wave energy currently accounts for 0.3%, and with the failure of the Bay of Rhodevus Tidal project, it was expected that tidal energy would remain at this level. Instead, the document suggests that tidal or wave energy production can increase to up to 2.8% of national energy production levels. This suggests large tax incentives for those types of companies, especially those abroad.

Similarly, new growth is being suggested for the energy system or large-scale battery use. As of now, Rhodevus is able to store 63 GWh of energy, which is considered extremely low for most westernized countries. The goal for 2019 is to expand the country's energy system to hold 6.3 TWh of energy. 100x the current energy levels. With Rhodevus's own local battery companies accounting for less than 1% of battery usage in the country, this is massive money-making potential for international companies hoping to break into Rhodevus. As of now, Aznazian firms make up 92% of all large-scale batteries in the country, with Rezua, Lindenholt and Capsland making up 2%, 3% and 2.6% respectively. Rhodevus making up the final 0.4%.

Sunrisian Representatives Prepare To Head Out To Celstead, The Seven United For An MDAA Summit

Image

Image

Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA Jéc Vírîtal, Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ and Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan will be leading the Sunrisian delegation that will be representing the Sunrisian Second Republic in an upcoming MDAA summit in Celstead, The Seven United. Expected topics on agenda in the summit will be – cooperation against cartels, paramilitary and other armed groups that are active in certain parts of Corentia, defense cooperation tactics against common external threats, deterrence of rogue states, the fight against international terrorism, international humanitarianism, peace promotion. The summit also added a spontaneous topic of the situation in Daredland later on, but the Department of International Relations told the press that the Daredi political crisis has apparently settled itself. Nevertheless, Daredland’s political transition and aid to the country might still be touched upon, considering the fact that Daredland is a direct neighbor to some MDAA states and is an ambitious, as well as active, partner of the military organization. The summit might include discussions on the further status of Smoya, who is currently an associate member, but with an opening to full membership. The aforementioned topics are the scheduled ones, but it is possible that the representatives of attendee countries will suggest additional ones on the spot, in reaction to global developments.

In other news:

  • Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ scheduled to visit select military partner countries in Western Ventismar after the MDAA summit in Celstead, The Seven United.

MDAA Delegates arrive in Celstead

Today delegates from all MDAA member nations, and associate member Smoya have arrived at Celstead City within The Seven United in a summit to discuss a variety of pressing topics which need sorted throughout Corentia. The venue for the summit was Celstead as it is a city relatively near Smoya, a nation which has expressed new interest within the Corentian defence pact. Within the newly redeveloped local government buildings each delegate arrived with their cavalcades, of those attending on behalf of Sunrisia was the Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA Jéc Vírîtal, Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ and Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan, with Edereon sending Prime Minister Céc Mustigañ, Minister of State for Defense Fída Pãtriclér and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sõli Témpesér a long with the Creperian representatives Karr Gaudēl, Minister of National Defense Ress Fēlicit and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikk Korsān. The Seven United brung to the summit our Unitary Commissioner Christina Anderson, the Commiss Army Chief of Staff Nicolas Fernandez and members of the defence committee whom had chose to attend.

Of the subjects on the table include increasing unity for the fight against organised drug smuggling and cartels, the fight against paramilitaries and domestic terrorism a long with the deterrence of states which are acting against peace and stability within Corentia and a long with the agenda promoting international peace and humanitarianism. Due to the Daredi situation evolving quickly, although latest developments are described by the Unitary Commission has "stepped in the right direction", the topic of Daredi was sidelined in favour of the more common issues which would grow without consistent attention. It is possible that some attendants will bring up topics which are not on the rota, and this is perfectly fine.

REGIONAL:
-The weather in Celstead, a toasty 38C with wall to wall sunshine.

-When will the HS4 be complete? The high speed railway to the outer and often "forgotten" reaches of Damsmar.

-Montedoran Police reporting uptick in paramilitary and terrorist activities, with the Commissioner saying "We will not allow the troubles to return again, and we are working very hard to bring these terrorists to justice."

INTERNATIONAL:

-New Vesvai in the international community, with the Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal told to view the country as a buffer state by leading professor.

Department Of Security Officials Set To Visit Ventismarian Military Partners

Image

Officials of the Department of Security of the Sunrisian Second Republic would be visiting military partner states of Sunrisia in Western Ventismar, confirmed Media Representative for the Administration and Cabinet of the President Agénâ Rûmár. The designated countries for visit would be Lindenholt, Umbrellya and South Baggnagia. Although other countries in Western Ventismar, including VU member states, are also Sunrisia’s valued partners, Lindenholt, Umbrellya and South Baggnagia are specifically designated for the current tour, because these countries currently host Sunrisian soldiers and military equipment deployed in the Ventismarian continent. Sunrisian officials would make sure to visit other partners in Western Ventismar in the future as well.

This tour was originally going to be held by Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ, but he is currently attending the MDAA summit alongside Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA Jéc Vírîtal and Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan in The Seven United. The Sâlúbĕr administration still wants Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ to be the one conducting this tour, which is why Minister Fórtídâ said that he would travel to Western Ventismar after the MDAA summit in The Seven United is done. However, in case the Sunrisian government wants to carry out more objectives on its’ to-do-list simultaneously, there is an option that the Deputy Minister of Security might have to visit Lindenholt, Umbrellya and South Baggnagia. It is likely that the visit will be left for after the MDAA summit, when Minister Fórtídâ is free to go to Western Ventismar.

In Lindenholt and Umbrellya, Minister Armăs Fórtídâ or any other Department of Security officials would check up on the ballistic missile defense systems that are stationed in both countries in contribution to a nuclear shield for Western Ventismar. Sunrisian troops stationed in both countries and helping guard the systems, would also be visited and commend them. Sunrisian soldiers helping guard the systems in both countries, are regularly replaced with new troops on a rotational deployment. The new party of troops would be the ones visited. In addition to a ballistic missile defense system, Umbrellya also hosts the headquarters of the Sunrisian Ventismarian Command (SUNVENCOM), which is also expected to be visited. In Artwingen, Lindenholt, Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ or any other Sunrisian defense representatives are also set to converse with the Lindian government officials on the proposal of expanding and developing cooperation between the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) and the militaries of VU countries into a more efficient one, which is said to be a collective VU proposal or at least being in discussion at the VU. More info and clarity on that will be known after the visit in Lindenholt, which is why no confirmations on the details are being made.

In South Baggnagia, Minister Armăs Fórtídâ or any other Sunrisian Department of Security representatives would be meeting the country’s President Dobrin Nóvak, Minister of Defense Branimir Vuković, possibly other officials. The Sunrisian side, in the face of the Minister of Security or any other representatives, would be once again reaffirming our country’s commitment to the Mutual Defense Treaty (Sunrisia–South Baggnagia) with the protection and security of South Baggnagia and it’s liberty. Minister Armăs Fórtídâ and other Department officials would also meet with General Pártên Câstódél, the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB), as well as with Sunrisian military commanders in the Joint Task Force (JTF).

In other news:

  • Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA Jéc Vírîtal, Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ and Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan will seek to visit Sunrisian soldiers stationed in Caledonia, The Seven United.

OPINION: ESOTANA SHOULD RESOLVE CONTRADICTION BETWEEN GROWTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT

WORLD

Image

Novo Coistar, Esotana- Esotana has had a rough and complicated history with the environment since the beginning of the modernization. In the first years of the modernization the country had to adopt a heavily centralized top down directorate model to best allocate national resources, and build the heavy industrial structure, the basis of other economic activities. This model however did not consider environmental externalities but instead the total rate of growth for the ministries involved, thus incentivising grown at the neglect of the environment. Esotana became one of the largest polluters in Ventismar with the rapid development of heavy industries and a large consumer of fossil fuel resources. As growth became harder to allocate and Esotanan economic policy was set on moving to higher value goods for the planned socialist economy to produce this high pollution growth rate decreased, however total emissions did not. The reforms in the 70s while reforming the vitality of the Esotanan socialist economy through better planning techniques, a change in the form of the socialist economy to better suit the ideal content, cybernetics, new pricing systems, and increased centrality, did not address the contradiction between growth targets and the environment, which must be seriously addressed to begin heavy emissions reduction.

Today the Esotanan Communist Party has made climate change affairs a massive issue with the most recent 5 Year Plan calling for a massive increase in renewable technologies. This contradiction has yet to be resolved meaning that we aren't doing as much to properly control emissions, and one means I propose doing it is a new revenue seizure mechanism adopted by the People's Environmental Council. Carbon emissions past a cap would be calculated to have a negative labor impact and this would see a transfer of new revenues from state entiprises to the environmental council, which would be used to create renewable energy investments. Managers would no longer be able to have growth at the expense of the environment if this measure was introduced.

Daredi interim government threatens consequences for Belantica over Hasperan stance

Image

Interim President of the State Council of the Daredi Confederacy Luca Sveriger warned that Daredland may take a page out of ally’s Sunrisia’s book and place personal sanctions on MPs of the Belantican United Queendoms. The warning came after the Parliament of Belantica started debating a possibility of engaging the secessionist Hasperan Republic. Belantic MP Christopher McGuiness from the Conservative Party especially came under attack for suggesting that the government of Belantica should attempt to open dialogue with the Hasperan leadership and ‘see what is going on in HR.’ The statement of President Luca Sveriger was strict and she let it be known at the State Council.

“We are not taking any action yet but only giving a warning. Any engagements with the Hasperan Republic or physical arrival in that territory will be met with consequences. Engaging with the Hasperan leadership or supporting it will be viewed as an act against the territorial integrity of the Daredi Confederacy and an existential threat. We will cut relations with any nation that will engage with the Hasperan Republic or with the Weniges Reich. The Englean Kaiserreich is supporting the Weniges Reich which is why the Daredi Confederacy has broken off relations and sanctioned the Englean Kaiserreich a while back. We will do so with any other nation that makes attempts towards reaching out to WR or HR. The Belantic Parliament has only had discussions so far but has not taken any action. So until any hostile action is taken against Daredland we will only issue a warning of the consequences. Engaging HR or WR will cost you any relations you may have with Daredland. All of it will be terminated in under 24 hours. And we are ready not only to sanction government officials but the nation itself if it engages with WR or HR. You will be the enemy of the Daredi people and the Daredi state. You will be a contributor to our problems. So choose between us and HR or WR.

I just want to clarify that the Hasperan voice has not been heard. The parts of the Hasperan autonomy controlled by the Hasperan Republic seceded from the Daredi state without a vote. There was no referendum of any kind on the issue. The populace living in those seceded territories never had a chance to speak. The local Hasperan elite made that decision for them. Today the Hasperan Republic is controlled by an authoritarian oligarchy. There haven’t been any elections in the Hasperan Republic and there have been many cases of police brutality against demonstrators on the streets. The Hasperan leadership is a mob and the people living in the seceded territory are hostages of the situation. People are uncontrollably fleeing the Hasperan Republic for Edereon or for other parts of Daredland that have not fallen to separatists or militants. We are not against self-determination and the current constitution of the Daredi Confederacy does not forbid for territories to seek independence. We will make sure that the drafts for a future constitution that we will have a vote on will keep that right in there. Under our laws there is a decent and fair procedure for how territories may fairly and democratically determine their status. That is made to make sure that everything is fair. That procedure was not followed neither in HR nor WR. One was an armed power grab and the other one was an unarmed power grab based on fearmongering.”

Interim Chancellor Franz Potesinan made clear that he supports the statement of Interim State Council President 110%. The State Council also voted to give the Hasperan Republic and the Weniges Reich the status of occupied territories. This status is needed to determine how those territories would function further while being outside control. This was especially important to determine because Daredland is preparing for new national elections and a constitutional referendum where the whole nation would have to vote. The inability to reach inhabitants in the Hasperan Republic or the Weniges Reich means that they would not be able to vote in the elections and the constitutional referendum. The interim government plans to set up the conditions for people in both separatist territories to temporarily leave to other parts of Daredland where they could normally vote.

Aurisi Police Department Not Making Much Progress In Investigating Assassination Attempts Against PM Jonathan Mollisal And MP Matthew Praeterit

The Aurisi Police Department continues being locked in a lengthy investigation related to past assassination attempts against PM Jonathan Mollisal And MP Matthew Praeterit, also former PM. PM Jonathan Mollisal survived two assassination attempts against him while MP Matthew Praeterit survived one. The Prime Minister had his limo come under fire during ride through Aurisi streets shortly after assuming office. The bullet-proof windows helped PM Mollisal escape the assassination attempt without a scratch. He was less lucky the second time when the Prime Minister was fired at by a sniper who actually managed to injure the Prime Minister. The bullets were removed in an emergency room and after brief period of rehabilitation therapy PM returned to work. He attented parliamentary sessions and was seen in public with crutches.

MP Matthew Praeterit surprisingly had attempt on his life after his party convinced him to resign as Prime Minister. Praeterit survived a much more frightening assassination attempt which he could no have been saved from if not were the circumstances. The former PM escaped a car bomb. Police thought that this assassination attempt made less sense because Praeterit was no longer the Prime Minister. But he still had influence in the party and many believed that he was eagerly attempting to return to PM office. Some suggested that the assassin(s) was motivated by past grudges.

Many citizens remember that the police did catch suspects but APD denies this today and says that those past assassination attempts are still being investigated. The details of the investigation are extremely secretive. The officers claim to have a large list of suspects but details are under wraps. The primary theory is politically motivated murder attempt against both politicians. This theory is especially supported by the fact that the assassination attempts happened when a political crisis in Vesvai was heating up. This was shortly after the general election and an opposition inspired protest of the results. The theories of whom the assassins could be connected to range from opposition parties like the AIT coalition, the leadership of New Vesvai and foreign intelligence officers attempting a coup. The investigation rejects the theory of inter-party struggles in the VHU because the ruling party is deemed too moral for such action. PM Mollisal and MP Praeterit refuse to have their party members included among the suspects.

Ostkorentien 2018 Conference Set for this Week, Bringing Multiple Nations Together; Imperial Republic Prepares for National Elections

Members of the Berlin Kaiserliche-Garde Preparing for the Kaiser’s Arrival for the Conference

Berlin, Kingdom of Prussia, Englean Kaiserreich – This week marks the beginning of Ostkorentien 2018, also known as the 2018 Berlin Conference. The conference is an occasion for foreign nations to formally interact with the Kaiserreich, members of the Englean Imperial Commonwealth, and with Eastern Corentian nations such as Belantica. The Berlin Conference was the creation of Kaiser Konrad I, who wished to present an opportunity for nations around Sunalaya to convene within Berlin at one time to cultivate economic and political cooperation between Eastern Corentia and the world. Since 1970, the conference has been held in the city every three years. This year’s conference brings three new delegations to the table; North Rukonia, the Antellien Islands, and a surprise to many – Esotana. The latter nation had been allowed to attend the conference, which makes it the second left-leaning nation to have ties with the Kaiserreich after Orilya. As the conference lasts about 7 days, it is expected that other nations might join in later in the week. The topic of this year’s conference has been revealed to focus on economic relations between the attending nations, with the Avadian delegations requesting this topic be the opening discussion. As per tradition with the conference, His Imperial Majesty will be attending and opening the conference on the first day. His father began this tradition of representing the Kaiserreich as a method to ensure that the foreign delegates would be “…working with the voice of the Kaiserreich.” The “Eastern Corentian” discussion will be focused on the Daredland situation and the MDAA, including the recent Belantican interest in the Hasperean Republic. It can be expected that the Kaiserreich will be discussing the Belantican stance on the Republic and the Weniges Reich, as the Kaiserreich has supported the latter state and continues to recognise its sovereignty from Daredland. As the Rezuan delegation will be attending the conference, a “special topic” day has been created for the fifth and sixth day for attending nations to choose a topic in which they may choose the topic of discussion. Reichskanzler von Kluge has stated that he is “…optimistic that this year’s conference will bring about a great cooperation between nations in a period that is rife with conflict.”

In other news, the Daredi Confederacy continues to grow more hostile towards Eastern Corentian nations. Today the new President of the State Council Luca Sveriger stated in response to Belantica, “Engaging with the Hasperan leadership or supporting it will be viewed as an act against the territorial integrity of the Daredi Confederacy and an existential threat. We will cut relations with any nation that will engage with the Hasperan Republic or with the Weniges Reich.” She continued to state that the Kaiserreich’s support of the Weniges Reich was the reason that the Confederacy sanctioned the nation, and that the Confederacy would do the same with any nation that supports the WR or HR. Interestingly enough, she continued with very inflammatory words: “You will be the enemy of the Daredi people and the Daredi state. You will be a contributor to our problems. So choose between us and HR or WR.” Continuing on inflammatory moves, the State Council voted to give the status of the Hasperean Republic and the Weniges Reich as “occupied territories.” In response to this, Oberbefehlshaber der gesamten Engleanischen Streitkräfte im Ausland Wilhelm von Keitel stated today that „The Weniges Reich is not an occipied territory of the Englean Kaiserreich, but rather a sovereign state with the recognition as such. If the Daredi confederacy wishes to identify the Weniges Reich as an occupied territory, then this can be seen as official recognition that the Weniges Reich is no longer a Daredi territory and may decide its position freely on its own.”

Within the Imperial Republic of Longwrescheck, President Joseph Mannersteck is currently preparing for the upcoming elections for the Imperial Presidency. He faces three opponents; Heinrich Kammerskorpf of the Longwrescheck Monarchist Party, Timothy Freefeld of the Conservative Party, and Kira Johannsen of the Island Party. Currently polls show President Mannersteck is in the lead, but Kammerskorpf is shown as a rising popular candidate within the populace. Polls also show that Kira Johannsen will gain nearly 10% of the votes, appealing to the more progressive population of the island. She is the first female candidate to reach the final election stage, and resides on a “modern progressive” platform which opposes the traditional conservatism of the Kaiserreich. She has stated that her influences come from Ventismar, where nations have “gotten with the times” and embraced ideologies that benefit every citizen. Engelberg has not shown much support behind Johannsen, and it this platform is not expected to secure the votes of the more conservative population.

His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapénic prioritizes military spending

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – The Father of Our Nation, His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapénic knows what is best for our people. His Excellency has declared that all other priorities must be rethought and cast aside. His Excellency says that North Baggnagia wants to achieve a lot but for that to happen our nation needs to guarantee its existence. To guarantee that existence there needs to be security. That security can only be brought by the guardians of our land the North Baggnagian Holy Army. To secure the true remainder of the Baggnagian civilization the North Baggnagian Holy Army must be well-armed, trained, fed and ready. By explaining this tremendous point the Father of Our Nation explained why military spending must be priority. His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapénic has signed an Executive Order which the Bureau would be responsible for achieving. Defense would become the area with the largest funding. Taxes would be increased to make all this spending affordable. North Baggnagia is also looking to be completely independent in its defense except for maybe cooperation with Chemensia. North Baggnagia will seek to have its own developed military industrial complex that will manufacture weapons and tech for the North Baggnagian Holy Army. There is an ambition to go into the international market but His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapénic believes that North Baggnagia should not share or sell technology if the nation manages to make something extraordinary. Secrets related to weapons should only be know by North Baggnagia so that no other army in the world could replicate our Great Leader’s findings or our tech achievements. His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapénic wants to make the North Baggnagian Holy Army the most power in the world. His Excellency does not want to introduce universal draft because of his unmatched compassion for free choice. His Excellency says that patriotic North Baggnagians themselves are flocking to join the North Baggnagian Holy Army. The patriots believe in the holy quest of defeating the South traitors, Sunrisian imperialists, reunifying Baggnagian land and spreading our might internationally. Hoorah!
