Members of the Legion of Germanic Daredland (LGD) party pay a working visit to the Englean Kaiserreich, while President of the State Council Friedrich Schäfer resumes visit to the Weniges Reich
Flags of the Daredi Confederacy and the Englean Kaiserreich
A large percentage of the Legion of Germanic Daredland (LGD) party have mobilized a delegation that has travelled to the Englean Kaiserreich to meet with the Kaiserreich’s leadership. Because Daredland presently has no diplomatic relations with Engleberg after unilaterally cutting them, Daredi officials are prohibited from making formal diplomatic trips to the Kaiserreich or interacting with Englean officials. Only specially appointed Daredi officers are allowed to interact with the Englean representatives. Both nations maintain formal contacts through foreign embassies in each other’s capitals.
Walking around the diplomatic ban, the LGD delegation have gone to the Englean Kaiserreich on an unofficial working visit and not an official state visit. Before departing, an LGD spokesperson said that the delegation would be meeting with Reichskanzler von Kluge and Reichsminister für Korentia von Pinochet in Strelitz in Sangarn-Strelitz. They do not expect to be lucky enough to have the honor of Kaiser Siegfried I himself giving personal attention or devoting his time to the guests from Daredland, but “always remain hopeful” as they put it. The LGD delegation’s trip coincides with the ongoing visit of President of the State Council Friedrich Schäfer. He had gone there to negotiate with the separatist leadership after the Weniges militants had proposed reintegration with Daredland in exchange for their ability to participate in the next confederal election. Schäfer personally took interest in the offer and later adopted a position that there was no way around it. He had finally allowed his alleged pro-Weniges attitude to be seen on the surface. The President’s personal initiative to begin the negotiations process was met with support from his own LGD party and mixed support from the rest of the State Council. Normally Chancellor Calvin Aigner would handle diplomatic work, including further negotiations with the Weniges separatists. But the Chancellor refrained from travelling to the Weniges Reich this time because he was unsure about taking up the separatists on their offer. Schäfer had likely predicted this early on because he had already planned to go to the Weniges Reich and negotiate despite Chancellor Aigner not even giving an answer. This is unconventional behavior for the President of the State Council and reaches outside his duties. The President of the State Council is supposed to stay in Freihat and consistently lead the Council, but Schäfer has now factually taken over the duties of the Chancellor. Probably he already sees himself as the true leader of Daredland, while Chancellor Calvin Aigner is only a figurehead to him. In the meantime the Chancellor himself has claimed that he would go to the Weniges Reich if the whole State Council ordered him to and not just the President. Because Schäfer’s own party is presently in a minority, practically an opposition party, he knew that he would not get consensus on his orders. So instead he has decided to do everything personally while in such a high position.
During the absence of President Schäfer from Freihat and the LGD delegation being abroad, the State Council currently has one of several Vice Presidents take over the leadership of the State Council. To avoid conflict of interest, the State Council is being headed by a Vice President from a neutral party that does not have a tough stance on the Weniges Reich. The LGD party is being represented by the remaining members who were left behind to work at the State Council. Some parties have already called for Schäfer to be voted out as the President for the LGD party to be removed from the State Council for lobbying Englean national interests, pushing forth Kaiserreich influence in Daredland and interacting with Weniges terrorists. They have also pointed out that though President Schäfer had only gone to the Weniges Reich which officially remains part of Daredland, the territory is still controlled by Engleberg. They believe that Schäfer might secretly meet with Kaiserreich officials in the Weniges Reich and the Daredi Confederacy government will never even know about it. LGD’s visit to Engleberg was also pointed out to be an actual report by internal traitors that Daredland is successfully being prepared for Anschluss by the Kaiserreich. The Vice President of the State Council and Chancellor Calvin Aigner himself have insisted that there are currently no legal reasons for President Schäfer and LGD to be removed because they have not legally violated the constitution. Schäfer‘s opponents in the State Council were encouraged by Aigner to have faith that the President visit to the Weniges Reich might actually bring positive results for Daredland and that LGD’s own working visit might help normalize relations with Engleberg, encouraging them to withdraw troops from Daredi soil. The Chancellor also once again reminded the State Council that Daredland is a democracy and political repressions even against controversial parties cannot be used.
In the Weniges Reich, while on actual joint press conference with the Weniges separatists at a round-table, President Friedrich Schäfer thanked the Konfoderaleswehr troops for organizing a clear, accessible passage for him to the Weniges Reich from the Daredi side. The President of the State Council had a chance to explain LGD’s actions and their trip to the Englean Kaiserreich.
[Speaking in German]: “I did not send them there. They went to the Englean Kaiserreich by their own initiative. But I think that’s not what should be important. The important thing is that my party colleagues might actually help me out to resolve the entire Daredi crisis. While I am here negotiation a reintegration of the Weniges Reich with Daredland and equal representation for the Weniges people in the State Council, by party colleagues are working on normalizing relations with the Englean Kaiserreich. If all of us are successful in achieving these objectives then the Daredi crisis will practically be over tomorrow. Instead of looking for a conspiracy here, I think that many officials in the Daredi government and many of our own people should be rooting for us to succeed.”
On the streets of Daredland the police has been focused on ending mass protests, but without using violence. The restless demonstrations have put a stop to normal functioning of the Daredi society, so the authorities have put forth an objective to finally return social stability. It is not expected to return soon because of the nation’s reactions to the developments inside the government and across Daredland, but experts are confident that the protests will not be growing beyond this point. After some time, they will eventually start to disperse. The protests are ongoing in all of Daredland, except for the break-away Hasperan Republic where they were violently dispersed and the Weniges Reich where militants and Englean military are in control of the situation.
