The Situation in Ziamban

The new Malesti-Bohi war has opened off with a week of silence and an ever-growing fear for the plans of The Bohin. Molenstoni forces, along with those of the Commonwealth forces already stationed in Molenston have been placed on high alert. The Molenstoni government has called for its reserves, which has slowed down industry around the country. Yet, there is no move to attack first, lest they fall into a trap that all know the Bohi forces are planning. The waters around Molenston are now filled with allied ships from various nations, as well as the fully navy of Molenston. This is the first time it has been activated in its entirety since 1965.

Queen Diana Wolff has taken leave from her Maternity Leave to lead a group of ambassadors to Divergia in order to discuss the situation and important matters such as WMDs, trade and military intervention. She said quickly before departure, "this situation is tense. It is between two nations which rely heavily on their senses of honour. Adding to the mix international powers and alliances, and we could be potentially facing a very large and very dangerous situation if we do not keep level heads."

The Rhodeve 5th Submarine Division has continued its patrol of the oceans near important trade routes and Ziamban to ensure The Bohin is not planning surprise attacks anywhere else in the future.

On a more worrying note, Molenston is slowly running out of water. The initial attacks made by the Bohin on dam infrastructure and desalination plants has left Molenston to fall back on its limited reservoirs to make up for what has been lost. Rebuilding efforts have been stalled thanks to this conflict. It is unknown how long Molenston will last before needing severe aid.

News has spread of Rezua's aggressive attacks on The Bohin, hitting multiple military installations and other industrial and military targets. No news has been given whether or not this was a coordinated attack made in partnership with Rhodevus or not, but many major senate leaders have stated that they had no idea of the plan of attack. Acting Queen Sierra Everen-Abrams has remained quiet on the matter, leaving many to wonder: Did she know?

Lead Ambassador Jeffrey Swathow told the press, "Rezua's actions have made Molenston's side become the first major aggressor since declaration of war. While we are allies, it cannot be stressed more that this is too aggressive. Too animalistic of an attack before anything has yet started. If anything, it can be seen that Rezua has allowed The Bohin to play the weak defender card. They have opened up The Bohin to reaching for aid from Divergia and Vukmire along with any other allies they may have. It could be a great potential to increase this situation beyond anything which is expected. On top of growing uncertainty to the plans of The Bohin in this war, Rezua's reckless regard may have played right into their hands."

Rhodeve military officials have been sent to Molenston to discuss a course of action, including the idea for an offensive push.

Operation: Aquarius Now Underway To Help Molenstonis Impacted By Water Shortages
In conjunction with Blue Cross-Blue Shield, the government of Belantica is now launching "Operation:Aquarius" to help Molenstonis in these dire times regarding access to drinking water. Because of the conflict between The Bohin and Molenston, drinking water for the latter nation has become scarce due to several dams and desalination plants being damaged or destroyed in the conflict. BC-BS spokesperson Lily Mayweather said that "The importance of clean drinking water overshadows the conflict going on, and as a humanitarian organization, we cannot sit idly as thousands of people in Molenston are having trouble fining drinking water to due the ongoing war in the region, and our mission now is to ensure that these people are able to have clean drinking water. Belantica is a very fortunate country, with many lakes, streams, rivers, and underground aquifers that gives our nation an abundance in fresh water, and now in these of urgency, we are able to share our vast supply of water with those who have been cut off from it." It is estimated that nearly 2 million gallons of fresh water from Belantica will be sent over to Molenston by the end of the week, and be distributed by BC-BS volunteers, Belantic military, and Commonwealth personnel. However, it is not know if this will be enough to last the nation for the duration of the conflict before the necessary repairs to the nation's water supply infrastructure are repaired and fully operational once more. "Clean water is a human right," Mayweather said, "and it is one of our missions here at BC-BS to make sure that this right can be fulfilled during times of crisis."

New Naval Exercises Kicks Off Eikan-Umbrelliet Military Cooperation

Today marked the beginning of a three-day long joint military exercise between the Armed Forces of Eikangaard and it's southern neighbor Umbrellya. Today, both navies participated in a simulated surface duel, with ships staging mock attacks on designated enemy targets. At least one vessel, the ENS Veskaandr, a decommissioned Eikangaardi cruiser, was sunk off the coast of Eikangaard as a test bed for anti-shipping weapons. The old vessel was stated by both the Navy and the Environmental Commission to be part of an initiative to provide additional habitats for marine life.

While the first day of mock combat has wrapped up, the next few days will see both fleets training in anti-submarine warfare, the covert insertion of special-forces groups, attacking port facilities, and simulating a joint landing operation. These operations will be taking place off the western coast of Eikangaard and the north-western coast of Umbrellya, and is expected to straddle both nation's territorial waters.

It is hoped by the Ministry of Defense that these exercises will lead to increasing cooperation with Umbrellya and lead to increased national security. When asked whether these drills were in response to the aggressive tactics employed by Rezua in the Bohin, Admiral Ressen refused to comment further.

(Chancellor Pudikov Speaking on the Phone)

Aznazia and Ophioneus Leaders Talk Ziamban Tensions
By: Marisa DeSuavio

UPDATED: 2 Pm September 28th

Chancellor Pudikov and Acting President Io Innokenty, spoke on the phone last night about the ongoing situation in Ziamban. Press Secretary Christopher Olson stated that both leaders wanted to ensure peace would be restored quickly and both would work to create a solution through the United Sunalayan Alliance. Olson said that "The two leaders agreed that both sides should return to pre-war borders and stand down their armies. They also agree that Bohin is the aggressor and should be made to pay reparations for any damaged caused. At the same time both nations urge Rezua to practice caution in its actions that might expand the war beyond a border clash if those sympathetic to Bohin decide that Rezua is doing more than defending Moleston". So far Aznazia has refused to become involved in the conflict due to the fact that enough nations have come to the aid of Moleston and the tensions Aznazia has with Uszwa.

Minister of Foreign Affairs; Juliet Travis, Stepping Down
By: Jared Collins

UPDATED: 4 Pm September 28th

In a shocking announcement, Juliet Travis stated that she will be stepping down after nearly 9 years as Aznazia's Foreign Minister. She initially was nominated to the position when Richard Livington was first elected Chancellor in 2008. She was important part of the Livingotn Administration when the Chancellor looked to improve ties with the USJR through trade agreements and diplomacy. However with Chancellor Livington's assassination by members of The Red Hand in 2015, she changed along with the nation. When Chancellor Pudikov was sworn in he meet with Travis and the two agreed to work together to finish out her position as Minister of Foreign Affairs that would have ended in 2018. She has recently become increasingly more hostile to Sunrisia and the MDAA in her televised press conferences. As a result it is rumored that she has been asked by Chancellor Pudikov to resign due to her impact on relations with Sunrisia. "I would like to thank the Chancellor and all of my compatriots and friends for making my service to our nation enjoyable even through some difficult and dark times", she said today at 1:00 PM Eastern Aznazian time.

Now Cyclonic Storm Hema devastates southeastern city of Palmaqalisi
Image
The Palmaqalisi River's banks flooded, causes deadly flooding in Palmaqalisi

Yesterday Cyclone Hema made landfall as a Category 3 cyclone in southeastern Dirkhizistan, striking the small city of Palmaqalisi the hardest last night. The death tool is currently at 78, but is expected to rise to at least around 100, most of the deaths were caused by people driving and getting stuck in flood waters, or fast moving floodwater headed down the mountainsides outside of Palmaqalisi. The storm is now a weak cyclonic storm, the center located just west of the city of Muhammakek heading northwest, it is predicted to weaken quickly and turn east as it goes northward. The city of Palmaqalisi, home to around 20,000 people, experienced heavy flooded when the Palmaqalisi Riverbank flooded over and destroyed much of the city. The Dirkhiz Navy and Ground Forces were sent to the city to conduct rescue operations and have reported to have said over 900 people in Palmaqalisi and other areas. The cost of the storm is estimated to be around 5.2 Billion DK, mostly to repair the many homes and infrastructure destroyed by Hema. President Mugharz said he will go to Palmaqalisi tomorrow to survey the damage. The storm has caused many pipelines in eastern Dirkhizistan to shut down, causes gas prices to rise. The storm is reported to be the strongest to hit Dirkhizistan in over 70 years, and most expensive and deadliest tropical cyclone to hit Dirkhizistan ever.

Sunrisia Still Seeks To Help Dirkhizistan After Cyclone Hema

Image

Sunrisia has reiterated its wish to help Dirkhizistan recover from Cyclone Hema. The Department of Security said that such an offer was extended to Dirkhizistan prior to Cyclone Hema, while the country was still preparing for what was known to be an inevitable natural disaster. Nevertheless, a response never came, because the offer might not have reached or caught the attention of the Dirkhiz government that was preoccupied with preparations for the Cyclone and might have been dealing with other state problems. Now that the disaster had unfortunately struck the country, Sunrisia is extending the offer again and wishes to know if Dirkhizistan would be interested in cooperation on the matter to legitimatize Sunrisian emergency relief and humanitarian actions. In the aftermath of the Cyclone, the offer for help was repeated by the spokespeople of the Department of Security, until Minister Ectrăr Álienan himself stepped in and made an address on the offer:

Sunrisia would like to help the people of Dirkhizistan recover from the damages of Cyclone Hema as quickly as possible. We have any type of aid accessible. We can send material aid in a form of needed supplies and we can also send our own personnel to Dirkhizistan to help out in recovery and rehabilitation efforts for that country. We hope that our offer will reach the Dirkhiz government and they will tell us themselves what kind of help Dirkhizistan would require, that is if they are willing to accept it at all.

Kaiser on the Bohin-Molenston Conflict - "Rezua is Showing Its Imperialist Side"

Image
In Support of Belantica, the Kaiserreich Has Now Been Celebrating the "Bundestreue" Between the Two Monarchies

Image
SMS Sachen, SMS Tempelhof, and SMS Graf von Kurn Outside of Wittenbach

Platz das Reich, Engelberg, Hohenzern, Englean Kaiserreich -- Today Kaiser Siegfried spoke to the Reichstag on the subject of the Ziamban Situation and the Kaiserreich's response to the conflicts. The Kaiser ensured that the forces of the Kaiserreich would not be used in the conflict, for it does not support Englean interests to enter the area. Kaiser Siegfried stated, edited for time;

"Once again, another conflict has sparked within the area of the Bohin and Molenston. This conflict also involves many major powers within Sunalaya, most notably Rezua. While the nation's response can be seen as a form of overkill, I wish to commend Ymira's acceptance to the first stages of imperialism. The nation and its monarch's response to the world and the conflict are quite admirable, for it shows strength. The Kaiserreich itself will remain neutral in the situation, for the conflict has no benefit for the Kaiserreich and any Englean loss of life would be for nothing. The Kaiserreich would like to extend an offer for the building of better ties to Rezua, and also to the Belantican Monarchy. The Kaiserreich admires its efforts to secure the nation from those who wish to destroy it, and also for the efforts to combat the republicans who wish to instill further democratic functions into the nation. We are at your service to aid you in whatever may be needed, and will denounce any form of sanctions imposed by those who do not approve of non-democratic institutions..."

The Reichstag has supported the Kaiser in his support of the Belantican monarchy, wishing to establish Bundestreue with the nation to help shield it from outside aggression. Many Englean companies have already opted to expand their businesses into Belantica, to support the nation's economy. As also stated by the Kaiser, the Kaiserreich also is interested in further relations with monarchies such as Rezua for mutual support and understanding.

Today the Kaiserreich is celebrating the victory of Imperial Forces in the 1867 Johannes Putsch, in which forces under Karl Johannes attempted a coup of the Imperial Government in favour of a republic. This attempted coup only lasted for 6 hours, with the Kaiserliche-Garde eliminating the last rebel forces outside of Tannenbach on September 28, 1867. The Imperial Decree of 1867 had been enacted by the Kaiser under the pretense of "outlawing the republican system" within the Kaiserreich and permitting the Reichswehr (the name of the Wehrmacht at the time) to support foreign monarchies in times of rebellion. A plaque was placed on the city hall of Tannenbach, stating "Für Gott, Kaiser, und Kaiserreich - Zur erinnerung an die niederschlagung des Johannes Putsches im September 1867" (in memory of the suppression of the Johannes Putsches in September 1867." With these celebrations, the streets of Tannenbach and Engelberg have been decorated with the Imperial Tricolour and the Reichstag has been decorated with the Tricolour and the Flag of the House of Hohenzern.

In other news, the 1923 Merzedes-Benz KW (Kaiserwagen) has increased in value, from nearly 42,480,000 Papiermarks to 56,899,000 Papiermarks. This vehicle is the most expensive vehicle in the Kaiserreich, with only two of these vehicles built. One is owned by the Kaiser, being the very first version built for Kaiser Otto II. Kaiser Otto II was an avid driver of sports cars, and specially designed the vehicle for himself. The other owner of a Kaiserwagen is the CEO of Germaniawerft Aktiengesellschaft (Germaniawerft AG), Prince Gerhard von Thyssen. The vehicle could reach the speed of 118 mph, although the Kaiser was escorted in most uses of the vehicle in case of a crash. Today a replica of the vehicle can be seen within the Kaiserliche-Museum für Engleanisches Automobilgeschichte, and the genuine version is owned by Kaiser Siegfried and is often seen in the streets of the capital.

Mezanwari goes back on his words: "Never offered our support to Molenston"

While Ziamban is experiencing a drôle de guerre since the Bohinian declaration of war on Molenston, a diplomatic side change of a neighbor of one of the belligerants has to be registered:
in a public speech of a few days ago the leader of the Droehawese regime, General Mezanwari, had condemned The Bohin for undermining the stability of the continent, and even if no contact had been reported with the Malesti government, Droehawe had been speculated to be planning to somehow help the defending faction, but earlier this morning, questioned during a press conference in Jamestown, General Mezanwari denied the accuracy of this interpretation offering his own point of view to the present journalists: "We never offered our support to Molenston, we expressed our concern and desire for stability in the region, anything endangering that is deprecable to us, this doesn't mean taking the Malesti side, this only means seeking for peace, being the defender doesn't mean having no responsibility, actually The Bohin has some good points".
Mezanwari visited the Ophioneus Federation for a summit with the Acting President Innokenty Io, dialogue between the two leaders had positive outcomes for the poor Ziambanese country, the two parties signed an investment plan to improve the Droehawese economy, infrastructure and military. The plan also includes a renewal and a partial revision of the concession contracts for gas extraction in Droehawe, the former agreement had to be updated as the former soviet corporation Soroknizhenulyagaz was privatized following the recent happenings in Ophioneus.
General Mezanwari judged the terms of the agreement "very positive", "I've observed a sincere interest in the development of Droehawe from the Federation" he said, prospecting a direct engagement on site of the Ophionean government.

Calvan Officeals arive in Umbrellya and expect talks to be done within a week over arrangements to disarm Calva of nuclear warheads

This afternoon Calvan officials from the military and trade committee landed in Umbrellya to seak a deal with the powerful nation of Umbrellya who have had a major roll in handling aid and logistics and security. Calvas aim is to gain a deal with Umbrellya with regards to shifting the handling of the warhead material through them as a third party. Full decomissioning of the nuclear warheads Is expected to be compleated by next year.

Magnus Göransson blasts Seven United sanctions as reckless and a hasty move not properly thought out

Today after the nation of Seven United declared its intentions to drive sanctions against calva even though efforts are being made to disarm our nuclear warheads was strongly criticized by priminster Magnus Göransson as a reckless unthought out act that seemed more to be punishing Calva for having nuclear weapons, Mr Göransson went on to support one Seven United's MP named Michelle Ahinas criticism and call for the bill to be repealed as a act of sanity amongst those who are clearly not got their heads "screwed on straight".
Mr Göransson also stated that such heavy-handed actions would do more harm than good as playing international police only strains relations especially when the nation they are trying to police are outside of the VU or USA.

Unitary Parliament unilaterally votes for embargoes on exporting or supplying arms and associated technical assistance against Calva and heightens tariff against all Calvan goods excluded from said embargo Alt Liberal speaker urges all MDAA members to follow suit until Calva disarms all chemical weapons in stock and lets inspectors in the country to see the progress / Michelle Ahina attempting to U-Turn the vote citing that its not the parliaments ability to enact sanctions / Ablija Hejkovic seen angrily smoking a cigarette as a second Montedoran independence referendum is called.

Unitary Parliament

At 14:00 PM in Unitary Parliament, the Alt Liberals joined with The Democrats and UNP (a rare event) to pass a resolution titled "Calvan Disarmament Act" which is summarized in two sentences. The complete and total ban of all armaments, technical assistance, training and other equipment passing to, from or into The Seven United towards Calva or vice-versa against Calva. A 170% tariff on all Calvan goods passing through Damsmar would also be in place. The Speaker of the Unitary Parliament Dron Jumingez said in a speech after it was passed.

"Those who voted for this, you have made a good decision. It shows that The Seven United will not tolerate the reckless decisions of Calva to threaten chemical warfare, even if it is disarming its nuclear stockpile. The Seven United has a harsh policy against reckless policies like these. The ultimatum is simple, the embargo and tariff will end as soon as the chemical and biological weaponry stockpile is disarmed and removed from your grasp. Proceeding this we, Damsmar will send independent inspectors into the nation to see whether it has been complete. If nobody else speeks up, we shall."

The resolution has caused political uproar, as it is the first time that the governing party has not been consulted by its "ally" about a resolution that goes against their interests. Michelle Ahina has been rushing all around the place, and it is likely the inner chiefs of Soldurs Des are looking through the mountain of articles to see whether it is possible for a resolution like this to be overturned in a minority government. Most likely not. She has spoken to us today not too long after the vote went through. Since 2004 resolutions can be made and put forward in under a day as a "Surprise!" but they must have the backing of the party that made it and that party must be in the Unitary Council, which has passed the movement in an unprecendented feat of unity between the opposition parties, Democrat and UNP voting positively for the same resolution for the first time. Its very likely this vote was not made for the resolution, but for a stark message for Soldurs Des which has been passing before this vote many budgetary restrictions and cuts on welfare for many "unworthy" benefit "scroungers that don't want to work."

Michelle Ahina talked to us as said

"Hi, Its came to my attention that a resolution not accepted by us has been placed through Unitary parliament. Such a feat of friendship has not been seen before. It is amazing to see The Democratic Party working with the Nationalists! We will work our hardest to upturn this vote, since when was it the Unitary Parliaments ability to enact an embargo against a country? If we can prove this to be illegal, it will be upturned the very next second. Thank you all, I will be talking with the Alt Liberal leader about this."

The Alternative Liberals have not said anything yet on their twitter, but it could be likely the leader didn't sanction one of their members to put this through. The Unitary Parliament is vague on how it enacts their laws, it is possible for anything to be put forward by the parliament be accepted if voted on, from embargo to declaring a Holy War, its all possible with the political and peoples support which is cited in the Parliamentarian Act of 1984 which wants an open public democracy not like The Empire of Damsmars later stages.

In other news, The Unitary Council has passed an emergency article detailing that a second Montedoran independence referendum will go ahead on the 14th of October 2017, it has caused massive uproar within the UNP party but the public has been quiet. Since the Montedoran vote the Seven United economy has been infact, ticking upwards. A blend between a double dip recession and a new party in The Unitary Commission has caused a bounce and is leading to many members of the Montedoran public to question the decision to leave when things are going well, and can go bad for The Montedoran people. Ablija Hejkovic hasn't responded yet but is in "Silent fury" says a spokesman for the party.

Who are the Ereshawi?

Postby Ereshawi » Fri Sep 29, 2017 4:53 pm

The history of the Ereshawi is long and mysterious. Their beginning coincides with that of the rest of the human race. Many scholars and anthropologists believe that the Ereshawis were the first group of people to inhabit the planet. In the middle of the Lago las Lagrímas (Lake of Tears in Portuguese) the Ereshawis established a city-state known as Vasharka on Uke Island in 500 BCE. Around 250 BCE, King Sarki's son, Tfala, broke away from the Varshaka civilization and he and his group of 500 followers left the area due to an ongoing conflict with his father. The Ereshawi were very advanced for their time and had great knowledge about metal working, agriculture, writing, as well as keeping written records. With this knowledge Tfala set out and began to live a nomadic lifestyle with his new clan. King Sarki was a brutal ruler and because of his cruelty and tyranny, many Ereshawi left and began to join Tfala's new group. Through these historical records, it has been found that King Sarki had commuted one of the worlds first acts of genocide against his own people. Tfala is notable for being the driving force of the "Yawo movement" which taught that city life eventually made people corrupt and weak. It also taught that true humanity was found in nature and "wandering like the wind" caught on to the majority of the Ereshawi. With these new revelations, the Ereshawi wandered the continent in nomadic fashion, they were generally accepted in most areas they went but, they were occasional threatened by other tribes which prompted skirmishes. They nearly always resulted in Ereshawi victories due to their advanced weaponry and fearsome attitudes from living in the wilderness for so long. These wars changed the way many people saw the Ereshawi as word spread quickly of their almost "genocidal" campaign against other armies. In 1378 CE, the Ereshawi were known as the "scourage of Islam" due to the multiple sackings of various Islamic empires on the continent. The Ereshawi had changed after wandering for over 2,000 years. They were now vicious warlords who conquered and assimilated other ethnic groups where ever they went. They were however, not barbians due to the past remnants of former civilized life dwelling within them. In 1432 CE, the Ereshawi decided to claim the lucrative spice trade in the former lands that were once theirs. In retrospect, this ironic due to the fact that a strict ideology of wandering eventually prompted them to come back to civilized society. The Ereshawi then came back and slaughtered the Arab and Bantu residents of the coastal port cities of Bahr and Laibah. The Ereshawi then proceeded to claim the market for their own uses and eventually assimilated with the mercantile culture of the region. In 1698, Portuguese speaking traders arrived along the coast looking for slaves and ivory. The Ereshawi adopted the Portuguese language for international trade due to the fact that their language had no other related tongues in the world. They were never colonized by the Portuguese and only engaged in trade deals with them. In 1875, the greatest religious revelation came upon the Ereshawi, the Bah' aí faith. Bah'aí was brought by Persians seeking safety from persecution back home. The Ereshawi accepted them and eventually the religion completely encompassed the entire population. The Ereshawis then pushed back in land to seize more territory from neighboring tribes as well as bring new converts to Baha'í. Today, the Ereshawis live at peace and harmony with the other ethnic groups in the country. In Ereshawi, it seen as taboo to insult someone on ethnic or religious basis because of the Baha'i faith as well as a single national identify. Hope you enjoyed reading!

Dispelling Myth: What Is Really Going on in The Bohin
Eastern Breeze

Amidst threats of war and pestilence against Molenston, the Rezuan campaign against The Bohin has been denounced by several prominent nations in the international community. Allegations of invading, imperalistic land claiming, and slaughtering of innocents surface against the Empire. These allegations, however, are complete fiction, inventions of slander to put the Rezuan Empire in a bad light, as usual. Despite attempts to negotiate with Molenston and Bohin, the Bohin has shown no interest in compromise, only demanding their own terms to be meant. Giving into their demands is not diplomacy. It is giving into the tyrannical nonsense of a corrupt and unstable government, to give into a nation that attacks a Commonwealth member that then hides behind a "victim" complex.

Rezua tried to work with the Bohin, but they chose to continue to take the lives of the Molenstoni armed forces, without just cause. Therefore, to ensure the safety of Molenstoni lives, the air strike operation: Operation Dragonfire, continues. This does not mean, however, the Rezuan Empire would go so low as to become the Bohin. Operation Hellfire is intended to keep the Bohini out of Molenston. So far, without a movement on the Molenstoni-Bohini border, the operation succeeds. While heavily classified, Operation Dragonfire has been told to have no part in annexing land from the Bohin. Nor are fire-bombs being used to "light the nation up across its border". Operation Dragonfire is targeting military bases and complexes that threaten to join in the fight against Rezua's ally with a vast scope of classified missiles. Rezuan aircraft have been playing a limited role in "low threat" zones and have been attacking during the night.

In no way is Operation Dragonfire targeting civilian lives. The only goal of Operation Dragonfire is to protect the sovereignty of Molenston by halting any incursions into their land. By taking out Bohini military complexes, the Bohin's ability to take Molenstoni lives decreases. While Rezuan high command has agreed to limit the amount of future strikes, Rezua will not cancel Operation Dragonfire. The offer to meet with Molenstoni and Rezuan officials to discuss a possible ceasefire still stands, should the Bohin chose to accept it.

In response to Engleberg's declaration of warmer relations, Parliament and the empress have denied any desire to undertake any imperial ventures. They have, however, agreed to warm relations with the kasierreich, should they still wish to do so.

Shooting in Mardi Gras Parade.

Postby Henriville » Sat Sep 30, 2017 1:35 pm

Seven people, including a 20-month-old baby, were injured last night after a crowd of Mardi Gras revellers thronging a New Marseille street were shot at by gunmen who went on the rampage.

The celebrations turned to terror with the victims apparently targeted at random as the last floats of the day passed through the streets.

"It sounded like a string of fireworks, so I knew it was more than one shooter," said Toni Labat, 29, a limousine company manager. She was with her two children, a boy aged two, and a girl, 10.

Two men, Jermaine Jones, 19, and Louis Lazone, 18, both from New Marseille, were charged with seven counts of attempted first-degree murder, police said. Brooks was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Wanted Fugitive Captured!

Postby Henriville » Sat Sep 30, 2017 2:22 pm

A 20-year-old alleged murderer and suspected gang leader who several times escaped conviction in Henriville and later managed to land on the Dronden most-wanted list in less than six months was captured Monday in Garfield, Henriville.

Ivory "B-Stupid" Harris, who was wanted by New Marseille police in connection with a Feb. 28 shooting death during Mardi Gras, surrendered without putting up much resistance at a house filled with a cache of guns and drugs in the New Marseille suburbs.

The arrest capped the end of an intensive, months-long Smoya-Henriville manhunt for law enforcement officials, who were determined to find and remove the elusive Harris from the streets.

"When the (Garfield police) SWAT team went in the front door, he went out the back door and Garfield detectives were there waiting for him," said Capt. James Gallagher, a Garfield Police Department spokesman.

Gallagher said Harris was asleep when officers went to the home about 3:10 a.m.

Calvert Magee, the only other person in the house, was arrested on drug charges, he said.

Authorities found 3 1/2 ounces of heroin, 3 1/2 ounces of crack cocaine, 20 grams of marijuana, two loaded SKS assault rifles, a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun and $5,800 in the residence, Gallagher said.

New Marseille police said they obtained a search warrant after receiving a tip from an informant that Harris was in Garfield. He was taken to a Garfield jail on a fugitive warrant and later transferred to the Louis Parish Jail in New Marseille.

Harris is awaiting a formal charge of murder in connection with the death of Jermaine Wise, 22, whose body was found inside a car parked on a New Marseille street.

The arrest was good news for the New Marseille Police Department.

"We are thankful for our concerned citizens who provided the information on the whereabouts of Ivory Harris," said NMPD Superintendent Warren J. Riley through a police spokeswoman. "The arrest of Harris, along with last week's arrest of Jerome Hampton, should cut into the potential for violence in our community as well as the city of Dronden."

Harris is no stranger to violent crime, police say.

Records show Harris has been arrested several times in Henriville on charges ranging from disturbing the peace to murder. However, he was never convicted of any serious crimes.

Dronden police said Harris is connected to the Dec. 28 slaying of Steven Kennedy, 24, at 1303 La Concha. Police also said they believe Harris killed another man in Dronden in a dispute over a woman.

GHSAO Receives More Funding

The Convet has approved another financial plan to allocate more funds to the Global Health and Scientific Advancement Organization (GHSAO). The Sunrisian government believes that this increased funding will support and speed up the efforts of GHSAO to make revolutionary steps forward in medicine and science. Researchers working at GHSAO were enthusiastic about the decision and said that more support for GHSAO will indeed prop up the hard work to finally eliminate terminal and debilitating physical and mental illnesses, along with genetic disorders, deformities and other life-harming issues. They state that even though science should continue moving forward, humanity has made enough advances in that area. However, they believe that in terms of medicine, the world has not gone as far or has yet reached the points that should have been reached and surpassed in the 21st century. Many healthcare and medical problems that have been battled for so long, remain undefeated by contemporary society. Therefore, when talking about proportions and where would the funding go, the leadership of GHSAO has stated that the larger half would go into medical research, while the remainder would go towards science that focuses on other areas. Representatives of GHSAO also talked about plans to rebrand the organization by renaming it into something that would better reflect its currently-domesticated and Sunrisian-run position, since GHSAO does not possess headquarters overseas and is based in Aestin. The word “Global” in GHSAO’s title was meant to reflect the organization being accessible for international researchers to work in, but the organization’s leadership now thinks that the word “Global” in the name makes GHSAO sound more like an intergovernmental facility. Since the organization is not an NGO, the possible rebranding plans are in coordination with the Sunrisian government.

Byrd Gang Members Arrested in Shooting on Magnolia Street

Postby Henriville » Sat Sep 30, 2017 3:06 pm

Three suspects involved in shootout on a popular shopping stretch of Magnolia Street that left three people wounded are members of a notorious New Marseille gang, according to the New Marseille Police Department.

James Alexander Jr. , 25, is accused of exchanging gunfire with 21-year-old Trejan Hughes about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in the 1900 block of Magnolia Street. Hughes was shot in the right leg and the neck, according to court records. Alexander was shot in the right knee and ankle.

Also wounded in the shooting was James LaRue, a hair stylist at the Sprinkles Salon who said he was struck as he was sitting outside his workplace for a smoke break.

Detectives said that Alexander and two men he was with at the time of the shooting are members of the Byrd Gang, also known as the Piff Gang, which operates in the former location of the Athena Housing Development, now called Peaceful Gardens.

Detectives with the NMPD's Multi-Agency Gang unit described the Byrd Gang as "one of the most murderous gangs in town," during the 2016 prosecution of its former leader Gerard Gray. The 26-year-old was sentenced to 100 years in prison for his role in the shooting of two men during a fight at a New Marseille basketball court.

Surveillance footage from the day of the Magnolia Street shooting shows Hughes and a woman shopping in a store about 3:33 p.m., according to an arrest warrant for Skipper. A few minutes later, three men, including Alexander, enter the store and exchange words with Hughes. All five people then leave the store.

Police said the footage shows Alexander holding a gun with an extended magazine with his right hand while he punches Hughes with his left hand. Hughes then takes a gun out of his waistband and the two men start shooting at each other at "close range," according to the warrant. Both men are hit multiple times, in addition to Larue who suffered a gunshot wound to his hip, breaking his femur.

Hughes was taken to Jeanville Hospital by a private car, and later sent to University Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries, police said. He refused to answer questions from detectives, according to a warrrant for his arrest.

Alexander, who was seen on surveillance cameras being dropped off at UMC by the two men he was with, denied his role in the shooting when police questioned him at the hospital, according to NMPD. He told detectives he was shot by someone in a dark-colored car while he was walking on Fourth Street in the uptown area, according to the warrant.

Detectives immediately identified Alexander as a member of the Byrd Gang and later identified the two others as fellow gang members through their Twitter accounts.

Alexander was arrested Aug. 30 and booked on two counts of attempted second-degree murder, according to court records. His bond was set at $500,000. Chance Skipper, 21, was arrested the following day and booked with accomplice to attempted second-degree murder. His bond was set at $100,000. The third alleged gang member was named in court documents but had not yet been arrested as of Friday morning.

Hughes was booked into the jail Wednesday, though on a different charge: illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon based on a 2016 guilty plea to aggravated battery.

Taxes Cut For Automotive Industry To Promote Sustainable Transport with APTRA
The Belantic automotive industry is perhaps the largest industrial sector for the country as a whole. As it stands, Belantica's 3 largest manufacturers account for now over 50% of global sales on the market, and therefore they have a huge impact on not just their industry, but all other industries that have ties with them. Due to this, the automakers and the government are now working together to create a solution for more sustainable road transport, and concluded that in order to promote further research and development towards this goal, automakers are subject to reduced tax rates, while now negatively affecting revenue to pay for essential government services. The Automotive Producer Tax Reduction Act (APTRA) currently up for vote in the Senate, offered automakers reduced tax rates while meeting specific conditions in order to hold this tax-reduction status. The first major condition is that by the year 2030, 20% of vehicles offered for sale by each manufacturers must be powered by alternative fuels- such as CNG, hydrogen, electricity, or biodiesel, and meet minimum fuel consumption and emissions standards that will increase every 5 years in terms of strictness. The second major condition is that automakers must be actively contributing to the further development of alternative fuel technologies, citing the need to move away from petroleum as the main source of energy for road vehicles. The third condition, is that by the year 2025, manufacturers have to have at least 2 vehicle models solely powered by an alternative fuel and have a minimum range of 300 miles. Tope manufacturers like LDA Groiup and Marin Motor Co. are fully committed to this project, as both companies are constantly pushing for more environmentally friendly transport since the 1970's, such as the Marin Tampa, the first mass-produced hybrid in 1994, or the Lancet HPV, the first hydrogen-powered road car. On top of that, bus, truck, and train manufacturers are also making strides to contribute to more sustainable transport, as "Belantica relies heavily on trucks, buses, and trains to move large amounts of people and cargo across the nation."

It was expected that this was built on top of Queen Karen's ban on the sale of diesel-powered private vehicles by the year 2030, which had forced the industry to start changing. She did this soon after both The Seven United and Capsland enacted similar bans." This is our planet," the queen said, "we need to take care of it for the sake of not just the next two generations, but several generations for hundreds, if not thousands, of years in the future. The actions we take now will have major impacts on the future of everyone and everything living on our planet, so now is the time to start, sitting by is not an option for anyone."

War Against Crime

Postby Henriville » Sat Sep 30, 2017 4:42 pm

It’s generally well known that Henriville, like many (most?) of the world’s countries, is pretty much involved in a war against crime, more so when it comes to drug trafficking-related offenses. Nationwide, LE forces face extremely tight budget restrictions which reflect into low training standards and lack of adequate material, in general, and armament, in particular. On the other hand, criminals find no limitations in their funds to buy and bring into the country whatever guns they find available, mainly from warring countries in Ziamban as well as smuggled weapons from the former USJR.Yessir, it’s one helluva task to keep an efficient eye on all that, mostly jungle, area, responsibility of an also limited-resources Federal Police Department and, to a lesser extent, the Henriville Special Forces.
Major crime-fighting efforts are, of course, concentrated in the Parish's capital city, New Marseille a major center of drug-trafficking activities. An example of how criminals take the necessary steps to assure control of their areas of activity is the growing number of guns they carry and use. This is exposed by the quantity of rifles that were seized by HVSF in 2082 alone: 328! Statistics made available to TFB show that 111 were AR-15 platforms, 94 were AK types, and 50 were FALs, with the rest including Ruger Mini-14s, H&K G3s, SIG SG.542s, Armalite AR-10s (new makes), etc. “Other” and “non-identified” rifles totaled 26 examples, these including several “Frankenstein” contraptions.

OPPOSITION SUCCESSFULLY FORCES PALMER MINISTRY TO IMPLEMENT SANCTIONS AGAINST CALVA

Image
Whig Leader David Watson and Federalist MP Georgia Sheridan enter the Representative Assembly following the successful passage of sanctions on Calva

Cape Perusia - A coalition of a unified Whig Party and moderate Federalists successfully passed sweeping economic and migration sanctions against the nation of Calva and its government. Leader of the Opposition David Watson hailed the passage of the new sanctions and praised moderate Federalists who joined the Whigs in pushing the bill through the Representative Assembly. The passage of such sanctions without the endorsement of the Prime Minister and his cabinet has been seen as a significant defeat for the Palmer Ministry.

The Palmer Ministry had initially proposed moderate sanctions that were quickly blasted by Whig leaders like David Watson and Edward Prescott as ineffective. Conservative Federalists, led by MP Georgia Sheridan, also expressed skepticism regarding the forcefulness of the the sanction bill endorsed by the Palmer Ministry. Prime Minister Palmer and Foreign Affairs Minister Frank Landon both personally appealed to MP Sheridan and her allies within the Federalist Caucus but to little avail.

Opposition Leader David Watson and MP Sheridan proposed a significantly enhanced sanctions bill against Calva in the wake of the failed proposal by the Palmer Ministry. The unified Whigs and Conservative Federalists, along with support from the Patriotic Front, successfully passed the enhanced sanctions bill, much to the ire of the Prime Minister. Opposition Leader David Watson and MP Sheridan praised the passage of the sanctions bill while the Prime Minister expressed skepticism and Jacobin Coalition co-leaders Bruce Jackson and Charles Baxter outright condemned the passage of the bill.

The sanctions bill passed by the Representative Assembly places economic sanctions upon virtually every sector of the Calvan economy along with individual sanctions upon high-level government officials. The sanctions also bans travel and emigration to Calva. Tariffs against Calvan-made goods and products have also been increased significantly. The sanction bill also calls upon the Palmer Ministry to seek engagement with other nations that have embraced a hard-line stance against Calva.

Number One Billboard Rapper, Gets Shot and Killed

Postby Henriville » Sat Sep 30, 2017 11:07 pm

Rapper Go Yayo (real name: Lamarcus Tate) was shot and killed last week on the front lawn of the two-story duplex he'd bought for his mother in New Marseille, Parkstreet neighborhood. The Sep. 30 murder eerily echoed the violence of his profanity-laced songs, which told of gangs, drugs and drive-by shootings.

The rapper, who recorded for Saucy Records, through 2082, was shot at least three times in the face and once in the chest. Witnesses said they saw a man in dark clothing fleeing afterward. Police had no suspects in custody as of Friday.

His stepfather, who asked that his name not be used, said envy of Go Yayo's swift rise might have motivated the killing. He said the performer's dark themes weren't meant to incite violence, but rather to expose the chaos of "ghetto life" so it might be cured.

He added that the rapper broke no laws after ending a four-year prison stint in 2077 for a parole violation. He had been convicted of armed robbery in 2073.
Saucy Records, head Top Gun appeared on several tracks on Go Yayo's first album, "Give It 2 'Em Raw." The rapper left Saucy Records in 2078 and released "Years Later" on his own Cut Throat Committy label.

Cape Perusia - After a period of relative silence from public sector union leaders across New Toola following the Palmer Ministry's decision to place wage caps on public sector employees, prominent union leader Matthew Hancock announced at a local rally in Cape Perusia that he is not ruling out the call for a general strike. Other prominent union leaders across New Toola have since made a similar threat of action in the wake of the speech made by Mr. Hancock.

Matthew Hancock is one of the most respected union leaders in modern New Toolan history. Mr. Hancock had previously risen to prominence after a succession of general strikes against the Kramer Ministry between 1991-1995. Mr. Hancock currently leads the New Toolan Federation of Labor or the NTFL. The threat of a general strike by Mr. Hancock comes as tensions between the Palmer Ministry and unions within New Toola continues to become more tumultuous. It marks a significant shift from 2011 when Mr. Hancock actively supported Harold Palmer and the Federalist Party in the 2011 General Election.

Unions have historically been strong supporters of Federalist governments dating back to the Baker Ministry in the 40's and 50's. Unions have generally been combative with Whig Governments in the case of the Sherman Ministry in the 50's and 60's, the Clarke Ministry in the 70's, and the Kramer Ministry in the 80's and 90's. Union support has been a major factor in numerous general elections throughout contemporary New Toolan history. Unions experienced a period of significant growth during the Hogan Ministry in the 90's and 2000's.

The Palmer Ministry has not released any official statement regarding the threat of a general strike but reports seem to indicate that Prime Minister Palmer is already in talks with the NTFL and other prominent public sector unions regarding the prevention of a general strike. Whig leaders like David Watson, Beverly Vane, and Edward Prescott were quick to condemn the calls for a general strike with Conservative Whigs like Vane and Prescott taking their condemnation a step further by calling for a scaling back of business regulation passed under the Hogan Ministry that significantly favor union power.

The breakdown of relations between the Palmer Ministry and unions could be a sign of trouble to come as decreased union support could have a negative effect on turnout in the upcoming national local elections. Continued economic problems regarding the rise in national inflation and employment has already posed to be a major problem and threat to the continued dominance of the Federalist Party on a national level that they have experienced since the 90's. Former Federalist Prime Minister Benjamin Rutledge and Whig Prime Minister Leonard Kramer have both condemned the threats of a general strike despite being on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Former Federalist Prime Minister Eugene Hogan has yet to comment.
