Stakanovic says stop: "This is my last term, I won't run for Triumvir in 2019"

Image

Even politicians retire, Triumvir Adem Stakanovic announced that the ongoing term will be his last one. The founder of the PSL party, in charge as head of the government since 1999, stated that at the age of 74, considering that Felsinia is two years from the next general elections, retiring from politics is the most logical thing to do: "It's not a decision I took on the spot, it's actually a result of considerations I've been reflecting on for a long time, I don't really see myself leading the country when I'll be 80" he said.
Stakanovic represented the fulcrum of the great political upheaval in the 90s. Keeping the reins of the country since when he gained them first in 1999 , the agenda of his party addressed Felsinia's recent history, with him as its most eminent exponent (but never sole in command).
Although PSL never enjoyed a majority in the Council of the Delegates, the party managed to perfectly exploit the volatile majorities mechanism, favoured by the institutional system implemented in 1972 but never really enacted by the previous governments, as they preferred to rely on long-lasting stable alliances in the bi-polar-ish system of those days. PSL has been this way able in the last two decades to find the necessary votes to carry on all of its motions, some of which very impactful even if strongly criticized by the opposition, especially after recession.

Triumvir Delaida Braune is now expected to lead the ruling party towards the next campaign, not a great day for her today, the Lindian-D'Fleuvien joint announce regarding the deployment of the army to defend the external border of the Ventismarian Union took by surprise the Felsinean authorities, leaving Triumvir Brune to deal with a possible new hot border. Speculations hinted at the opportunity of the Lindian army patrolling the Felsinean border with Pergen as well, but these rumors were strongly denied by Triumvir Braune who reaffirmed the neutrality of Felsinia on the internal conflicts in Pergen.
In view of the expected instability, the deployment of police forces has been massively increased in Trodaìn and near all the border crossings with Pergen, as confirmed by the Ministry of Public Security Villardbourie, who defined such measures as precautions put in place in order to manage and inhibit the potentially abnormal flows of people from Pergen to Felsinia due to the civil war across the border.

(Steel Plant in The Seven United)

Chancellor Pudikov and Commissioner Ahina Sign Trade Deal
By: Ted Gordon

UPDATED: 3 Pm July 21st

Today in Aygon, Chancellor Pudiokv landed in the The Seven United to offically sign a trade deal that will exchange Aznazian wheat and weapons for Seven United iron and steel. Both natiosn will benefit from the deal, especially The Seven United which has seen a series of iron mines and steel mills close in recent years. After a short ride in a limousine the two leaders met and spoke for about an hour without the press before moving into the signing room. Both leaders signed the agreement and then moved to the two podiums to speak to the press. Chancellor Pudikov spoke first with an outline of Aznazia's policy shift to Corentia and the need for close ties with all nations in Corentia. "There has been quite a lot of interaction between Aznazia and the Seven United, most of it is pretty negative due to circumstances of history. Even after the Aznazian troops landed on the shores of the Empire of Damsmar our relations did not change for the better. Past administrations of Chancellors supported extremely violent right wing factions when the empire broke apart into civil war. Even after the formation of the Seven United we continued to keep our backs turned. However now is the time to make amends and built new ties after decades of suspicion. This deal is only the first step on a new path of prosperity for our two nations as we look to not only help each other but also help show the world that even old rivals can come together for the common good".

Commission Ahina thanked Chancellor Pudikov for allowing the deal to be made and help turn a new page in the relations with the two nations. Reporters asked Commissioner Ahina if this deal meant that The Seven United felt that it no longer felt that MDAA was effective. She responded saying that while The Seven United is committed to the MDAA, it is also free to make deals outside of the alliance. Chancellor Pudikov also added that he sees nothing wrong with the MDAA and only is looking to work with Corentian nations in an effort to attract new friends that Aznazia can rely on for trade, scientific research, and international cooperation.

Allentyrian Gun Owners Protest Restrictions -- by Thomas Nilsen

Ålhavn, Midthjemland -- Gun owners all across Allentyr have gathered in front of Parliament to protest recent restrictions on large capacity magazines for their weapons. The protest involves approximately 3,000 people all currently waving signs and demanding the government reverse the ban. A large capacity magazine, according to the new law, is a magazine holding more than 30 rounds for rifles and 20 for handguns. Gun owners who own such magazines are required to turn them over to the nearest police station in exchange for compensation that covers the cost of the item.

Several protestors are carrying their personal firearms in the protest but so far the police has not found there to be any risk of an actual shooting. The police force has cordoned off the streets where the protests are occurring and the protest has so far been peaceful and orderly. Many people in the area are taking photos with both protestors and police officers while some are handing out water bottles to both parties to deal with the heat.

Supporters of the law say that the magazines are unnecessarily large and that it merely puts the population at risk of mass shootings while opponents say that it infringes upon the freedoms of Allentyrian gun owners and that the arbitrary limits serve no purpose in preventing any mass shootings in Allentyr, which last happened in 1984 and killed 5 people while injuring 27 others.

Militaries Of Vesvai And Rhodevus Training Together

Image

The military of Vesvai is currently in Rhodevus, training with Rhodeve armed forces. Vesvai’s government says this is a sign not just of close relations between the two countries, but a sign of Commonwealth strength and unity. Vesvai and Rhodevus opted for smaller training between armies in place of large two-sided drills. Large dual drills were suggested by PM Matthew Praeterit shortly after ROVEAA drills. PM made the proposition before his Aznazia–Rhodevus tour which wrapped up several days ago. He intended to personally observe them when in Rhodevus, but PM and his government later chose a different option with Rhodeve colleagues which is smaller training. But, Vesvai’s government in general has been an active promoter of more joint training among blocs that Vesvai is in. Shortly after ROVEAA held its exercises, Vesvai spoke about the need for WeSTO and the Rhodeve Commonwealth to hold such drills in the near future. Some say the government is interested in energizing the blocs that Vesvai has joined, to personally witness their activity. That is a normal national interest. Others say Vesvai should slow down because it is provoking the increasing drill race between many alliances around the world. That is unnecessary. PM and government say they are reacting to the present reality and threats to ROVEAA, WeSTO and the Rhodeve Commonwealth.

2017 Regional Election Summary, The Commiss Army performs military drills

On the 18th of July, The Seven United woke up to regional election results. The election, while it was a shock to many UNP voters, it did not come as a surprise to The Democrats and Soldurs Des, both of which recorded a massive sway in the vote. The Democrats lost badly, especially in their home council The Bailor, which has always been under Democratic control since 1982. This proves, that this is a ground breaking political year and more may still be to come. Jeuves D. Hueves, Leader of The Democratic Party and The Democratic Party in The Bailor told us "The election results are not a surprise. The party has been hit negatively by the reckless decisions of John Hague and it has hurt us. I am trying my hardest to change the party for the next General Election, to change the party in the right direction and for the better."

The United Nationalists lost three seats, mainly thanks to the first past the post system which wiped out independents and other party seats favouring the larger more mainstream political parties. Soldurs Des broke records with a 16+ seat and the only party to receive a higher popular vote share even though the Alternative Liberals failed to do so yet gained seats, another hint of the First Past The Post system taking effect. The MEXIT process will begin tomorrow which will start negotiations for The Montedoran to leave The Seven United, the first state to ever do so in over 200 years including The Empire of Damsmar.

The Commiss Army has scheduled plans to hold drills all over The Seven United today, including mountainous drills in The Montedoran and Cyprexe. The Army held MDAA drills though these drills will be Union/Nation-wide only with all parts of the military involved. Air, Naval and Land drills will take place to simulate a foreign invasion of The Seven United with the added role of pro-independence terrorism in The Montedoran. The Airforce will play a larger part as it is the "priority" of 2017,18 funding term to upgrade, build and order new weaponry and fighters with an aircraft carrier order not being ruled out. The Commiss Airforce made this highlighted by ordering 6 new F-19 jets from Aznazia which will cost 457m argents in total with new training and equipment needed as stated by The Commiss Airforce a big blow to the public pocket, while it has came neutral to the general populus, the deal itself will not cost that much as the Carter Act gave the military immediate emergency funding which these orders will draw from.

The President returned from his diplomatic conference in Sunrisia earlier today, where he made several major announcements on the success his meeting had achieved. He spoke on the subject in person at a press conference held at the Executive Residence. He began the meeting in the dull, unexciting tone that one might expect from a President who had just flow 13 hours, and who now has to push his progress through Congress. Despite his frustration, he seemed to keep a level head, answered most of our questions and staying on topic. The press conference only last a short ten minutes, but President Pearce delivered his answers quickly and without his usual jokes and patient demeanor that we've come to know him by.

The first and frankly biggest story was that Pantorrum had been confirmed as a signing member of MDAA, a military cooperative of several major Sunalayan Powers. The invitation to join, and inevitable inclusion in the alliance, is a sign of strengthening international power for the Pantorran state, as we expand our influence further from Ventismar. The President said that the alliance will "ensure the continued safety and prosperity of the Pantorran people", and that it "reaffirms our dedication to international cooperation". Several have come to criticize the President since the announcement, claiming that joining the MDAA isolates us from our closer allies who are not part of the alliance. They have already made clear that they intend to push Congress to reject the agreement. Such an outcome is unlikely, given that the Conservative Party maintains its majority, and has long been in favor of joining the defense initiative.

The President would go on to quickly announce that he and the Sunrisian President had worked out a serious trade commitment in the form of the PSEPA, which stands for Pantorrum-Sunrisia Economic Partnership Agreement. The deal, whose details will be released after Congress votes on the proposal, is supported by a large number of manufacturers, who claim that the agreement will breath renewal into the stagnant Pantorran Economy. They argue that access to new, fair markets will spur manufacturing growth and end what many have come to call a 'mini-recession'. Not all, however, are in favor of the deal. Opposition claim that the arrangement will lead to a surplus of foreign goods on Pantorran shelves, driving down prices and bankrupting domestic businesses who can't compete. The Department of Commerce rejects the idea that the deal could have a negative impact, but until the full details of PSEPA are released, we can only speculate as to its side effects.

Regardless of the economic outcome, the diplomatic result is clear. The President has worked tirelessly to foster a close economic and military bond with Sunrisia, a major international power. Building a close relationship with them, and maintaining bonds shared with Rhodevus and Aznazia, will likely end in a safer, stronger Pantorrum. Or at least that's what the government keeps saying. Only time can tell if its true or not, given that the government hasn't been entirely honest with the Pantorran people in the past. The secretive nature of the deals content, and the controversy over the MDAA and what it might mean for our military independence, is cause for concern among some groups, such as the Liberal Democrats who have strongly come out in opposition of any Sunrisia deal. The party has long touted closer bonds between Pantorrum, Aznazia and Rhodevus, and has supported for some time the creation of a military alliance among the three countries. they are expected to oppose both the trade deal and the military agreement when they come to the floor tomorrow.

On the other side of the world, Pantorran forces have met with one success after the other in Konetya. After delivering a crushing defeat to Union forces in the Battle of Konetya City, the Pantorran led coalition defending Konetya has reorganized itself and is poised to strike into the Union controlled western half. The force was ready to take action and deliver a fast, multi-pronged attack on Union force that are now on the defensive. Plans had to be delayed, however, as Rezuan intervention has further complicated the situation. Their deployment of ground forces into the province has been confirmed by on ground military reports which indicate that Rezuan troops liberated a small town. Estimates put the force at no larger than 150, an extremely small operation.

Regardless, the Vice President strongly criticized the Rezuan Government in a press conference yesterday. He would call the nations government "out of control", claiming that they've "muddied the water" just as he had warned. He went on to accuse the nations leadership of "warmongering", in his words, saying they have "thrown themselves into a conflict that was already under control". His criticisms may fall on deaf ear, just as his last warnings did. PNN reported last week that the Vice President had strongly urged the Rezuan Government to back off of Konetya and leave the province to its already present defenders. Apparently, they didn't take his words seriously. The difference now, however, lies in the fact that the Defense Department has taken actions. The Secretary of Defense issued a statement an hour ago, informing the public that Rezuan Forces would not be welcome into Konetya City, and that their aircraft would not be allowed to land at the airport. He went on to condemn the nation for interfering and making it more difficult to end the war, which is the Departments first and foremost goal at this point.

Despite his criticisms of Rezua, the Defense Secretary also confirmed that almost 10,000 additional troops had been slowly deploying near Konetya City over the last 2 weeks, having fully arrived as of today. The force was defended by the Secretary, saying that the force is warranted given the fact that Union troops have attacked Pantorran forces and sparked a war. He noted his disagreement with the USA Security Council, condemning that they would rather "let Pantorran soldiers die without help in an active warzone, than let them end the war that only they can end".

The Defense Department is unsure how the USA will react to its deployment of more Forces, but they have expressed hope for reason to prevail. We cannot deny here at the Cormiar Times that the government has a point. Our men and women have died on the battlefield, and the USA is making it impossible to end the conflict. Our hearts and prayers go out to the men and women who have given their lives, and to the families of those who have lost loves ones for the cause of freedom.
I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again- Etienne de Grellet du Mabillier

PM Under Fire For Making Remarks Comparing Sex Scandal at Teito University to "Prostitution Ring"
Image
Prime Minister Hideyoshi in front of the crowd where he made the scandalous remarks

Prime Minister Tōru Hideyoshi is known for being a man who "speaks his mind-" a populist who does not care for political correctness, a double-edged sword in today's world.

However, this time around, the other end of the sword finally bit Hideyoshi.

At a speech during a memorial for missing university students on a field day, he addressed the recent scandal in Teito University and cover-up, calling it "akin to a prostitution ring."

Several officials in the Ministry of Education and government critics have already decried his actions, calling them "disrespectful" and "not appropriate for the setting."

Hideyoshi, in typical fashion, defended himself by sticking with his original statement: "They [the students] performed sexual favors for a good or service, in this case, higher grades. It sounds like prostitution to me."

The Prime Minister and staff have not been available to comment to the Morning Sun News.

Black Hand Terrorist Attack in the capital, Krogobad
The National Defence Front, better know to the public as the NDF or "Black Hand", commenced terrorist attacks in the form of suicide bombings and shooting in the capital of Zrogobad. The terrorist group attacked a major mall at 4:30 PM, where the perpetrators started to shoot nearby civilians. During the course of the shooting, they implanted remote-activated bombs across the mall. Once law enforcement reached the mall, they were quick to activate the explosives, destroying areas of the mall and killing a total of 22 people and injuring 47. Law enforcement has managed to find and identify surviving perpetrators as members of the NDF, a banned political party and terrorist group.

The Black Hand is a Pan-Marahi'ist Group that wishes to unify Marahi nations under their leadership. Despite the country being ruled by a Pan-Marahi'ist Party itself, what makes them different from the Patriotic Front (The Ruling Party in the Country) is their Islamic Fundamentalist and Riyaqrahi-supremacist ideals, in stark contrast to the Patriotic Front's much more secular and multicultural outlook. Quickly after the announcement of this, the government has declared that the will begin working on "the elimination of this enemy of the people and nation as a whole", according to President [INSERT NAME]

Executive Chancellor Greenlights Deployments to D'Fleuve's Border with Pergen

Image
4th King's Vertston Infantry Regiment

Parliament have allowed, by a vote of 451-199, the deployment of several regiments to help the current coalition of Lindian and d'Fleuvian forces secure the VU border with Pergen.

Altogether about 1,000 Capslandian troops will arrive in d'Fleuves to help with the logistics of the operation. The 1st Calindran Royal Engineers are the first to be sent out to carry out specific missions regarding certain risk assessments and assessing the situation.

The Executive Chancellor has called on the VU to be more brash and stick when it comes to this crisis currently in Pergen. While the Officer of the Executive Chancellor has not commented on the current Pergen civil war in regards to its support, there has been calls for the government to actively get involved with the border situation.

Currently the only political parties that have outwardly expressed their intention to get involved are the Capsland Sovereign Party and the Popular Front.

Pakashi Separatist Groups take Ankajha
The nation was shocked today as a Coalition of Pakashi Separatists manages cause massive revolts in Ankajha, a minor city in the autonomous region. Pakashistan, a enclave and autonomous region of the nation, is known for being culturally different from the Qurac-Riyaqrahi Homeland, this has resulted in multiple attempts of succession, all ending in failure and the Qurac-Riyaqrahi Governments weakening the powers of the Autonomous Government. This has only increased tension between the mainland and territory, with separatist ideas being becoming widespread across the territory.

The town of Ankajha, while strategically, administratively and economically unimportant, has been named "the Centre of Pakashi Nationalism" due to much of the leaders of major separatist groups from the town, which has increased military activity in the area ad making it one of the most isolated areas of the nation, with the government making sure that the town is nearly completely isolated from other areas of the nation. The town received a major surprise once it suffered a coordinated revolt from the within the town and from within th stationed military personnel itself, as Pakashi Soldiers from the region's "loyal territories" (generally the richer areas of Pakashistan) conducted a mutiny against their commanders and help organize the revolts and aided them. Nearby military installations have been warned during the mutiny and they have started their journey to the town. The Pakashi Autonomous Government has tried to censor this from most of the region

Pakashistan declares independence!
The nation was shocked after this event. Massive mutinies across the Pakashistani Autonomous Region by Pakashis in the army, recruited from richer areas of the country, are successful in the occupation of major military installations across the nation. This, with multiple provinces declaring independence from the nation, angers the Qurac-Riyaqrah Government. Provinces that declare independence have managed to depose of Law Enforcement and Military Members that have their loyalties to the Qurac-Riyaqrah Government, and united together to form the Pakashi Republic, with the Pakashi Liberation Army being the main military force of the new nation.

Surviving Qurac-Riyaqrahi Military and Law Enforcement Personnel and Pakashi Loyalists have managed to defeat the mutineers in several major cities and military installations, with the defeated loyalists regrouping to areas of the country still under Qurac-Riyaqrahi Control. The remains of the Loyalist Pakashi Government have declared a State of Emergency and the Qurac-Riyaqrah Government were quick to not recognize the new nation and was soon to respond with military action.

Molenston News

With seemingly settled relations between The Bohin and Molenston, today’s attack was unprovoked and unseen. It had been a month since the last engagement of the two countries, with many in the Molenstoni government believing that a return to normalcy has begun. With the Resolution 102 being brought to the floor of the United Sunalayan Assembly, issues regarding the Sivier River were put on pause. The Resolution 102 itself is based on an early treaty between Rhodevus, Molenston and the Bohin as to the usage and division of the Sivier River and Bauer Basin which the river feeds into. Many believe that the Bohi government is biding its time and preparing to use this Resolution to place embargoes and sanctions on the country. In retaliation, the Molenstoni government has confirmed that they will place their own accusations against the Bohin in the USA International Court.

Today’s attack is as follows. A distress call was relayed from the ACS Buckingham, which in turn picked up communications from the Station XXV8; an off-shore oil platform. The ACS Buckingham was ordered to follow up on this distress call and determine the cause of the problem. Arriving to Station XXV8, the Destroyer was fire upon by rocket launchers and mortar fire. The ACS Buckingham went into combat readiness and returned fire on the station, causing for its destruction. The remains were scowered to retrieve surviving bodies, of which seven were found, along with fourteen dead. The faces of the deceased have been published to determine if the public is aware of their nationality. It is believed that they are all Bohi, as the seven survivors have been discovered to be members of the Bohinian Paramilitary Organization, known as the Bauir.

This blatant disregard for Molenstoni sovereignty has brought on a new wave of sanctions on the Bohin by Molenston, which have been backed up by the majority of the Commonwealth, except for Ispanza. The military has activated their entire navy for the first time in two decades to ensure the safety of those bordering the coast as well as those working on offshore oil-platforms or working offshore in Molenston’s national waters. The army has been placed on high alert, preparing to withstand an inevitable attack by the Bohi forces.

The Malesti air force has also been placed on high alert, with confirmation that intelligence has been gathered on the Bohi movements by various members of the air force. All are unsure whether or not true war will break out between the two countries, or the situation will remain extremely hostile in the current terror attack fashion strikes.

Empress Returns To Office

Imperial News

With the build up of tensions with the USJR, a USA investigation of the nation,, and a surprising denouncement from Pantorrum, Empress Ymira has returned to Rezua and has permanently ended her maternity leave. While some have urged her to not do so, the empress simply said that the needs of a nation outweigh the needs of one family. The empress has been in Rezua since Monday but has not made any actions since. Until today. The empress has released a lengthy counter to Pantorrum's unseen denouncement. The empress' outrage at Pantorrum's tarnishing of Parliament's reputation has been shared by a crowd who protested outside the Pantorrim embassy today. The protests were peaceful but firm. They demanded that Pantorrum's government gets over its "main character" attitude. Below is Empress Ymira's statement.

The current struggle in Konetya has put my nation and my people in a precarious position. The denouement from Pantorrum acts as a reminder of that. Weeks ago, my government took part in an aid effort to keep the people of Konetya from being starved out by Union forces. Far before that, Pantorrum's government chose to send soldiers into the city. In their denouncement, Pantorrum declared Rezua warmongering. This accusation has no base in fact. The weeks leading up to our military involvement, Rezua attempted to create a peace meeting between Konetyans and Union forces. With Pantorrim soldiers in Konetya however, the Union was rightfully alarmed that war would be coming.

Our reason for involvement has nothing to do with glory, since we are gaining nothing from helping. In act, our nation has become increasing criticized for getting involved. With Pantorrum, however, glory is the only motivation. They do not acknowledge that without USA aid coming into Konetya, the people would have starved long before their guns could ever help. Rather than try to assure Konetyan independence, as the people wish, Pantorrum has decided to help Federation forces take control over the nation once more. Rezua is not helping the Federation due to their unpopularity within Azovakya.

Rather than try to get international support to find a bloodless peace, Pantorrum took it upon itself to send in soldiers. They have told our nation to not get involved so that they may be the only nation to have military victory. The time for glorious war is over. Rezua is an empire of hearts and minds, of reason and tolerance. We strive to use diplomacy, to hear all sides of a conflict before acting. It is unfortunate that the only way we can save Konteya is by war. A war that could have been prevented. A war that could have cost Konetya the wrath of not just her own enemies but also Rezua's. War is a last option. Soldiers create misunderstandings and tensions. They also depleted Konetya's already dwindling food supplies, putting yet another burden upon the people. Rather than deny our request to aid Konetya, Pantorrum should have taken it. First our peace councils, then our troops. International support could have gotten a bloodless deal. And it could help create an unbiased government for the free people of Konetya. Sadly, this tension had to come to war. A war forced upon a people that was burdened by hardship. We moved in soldiers to try and help these people but we cannot do so when misunderstandings between us and the Soviets pop up. It is not right to fight a nation that is unaligned in this conflict, no matter the history of violence between our nations. The death toll would not only take Rezuans and Soviets but also that Konetyans, who would be caught like pawns in a game of chess that was not their own to play.

We have tried to convince the Union we wanted peace. But Pantorrum's soldiers clouded their judgment. And it is not their fault alone. Their soldiers have saved many an innocent life. But I do not believe this war was right. There was more we could have done to keep peace. The USA has called Rezua out for breaking their decision. But what good is a union that does not protect all peoples? What good comes from watching a people die. Today, I announce that we are not ashamed for helping Konetya and will shall allow the USA to investigate our motives. We have never tried to bring war when peace was an option. There was no such option this time, not when too much insult had been dealt. The Rezuan Empire sees that Konetya and her people are a free nation and we cannot help but defend them. While we have a sword and stars on our flag to depict our own strength and unity, it is a pledge of much more. The Rezuan Empire shall carry any burden, defend any people, protect any forsaken cause, and commit to any conflict in order to unite and make equal humankind. Our strength is the strength of all, and our unity is an example we wish to see with all nations. We strive not for peace but for harmony. We will not let misunderstandings, egos, pride, or any emotion or desire or ideal create unneeded bloodshed. the Rezuan Empire will stand up for the weak and work with the downtrodden. We will welcome the damned with open arms and we will mourn the losses of our most distant fellow human beings. We do not regret our decisions, for they were made for upholding the greater good. With the help of more nations, we hope to bring happiness to all and make violence a fading memory of ancient times. Judge us or help us. Condemn us or praise us. We will always stick to the path we believe to be true. And we will always take the path that leads to the greater good.

God bless our nations, all the peoples of Sunalaya, and help us to see past our divisions and illusions of superiority. We are one tiny spark of life and hope in a vast sea of darkness. Alone, we are creatures of destruction. Together, we could build a world that no one has ever imagined. Change is not easy but it is the price that must be paid for unity, equality, and happiness for all.

In addition to just issues with Konetya, Parliament has asked for the members of the Ventismarian Union to stand down from Pergen. A peace council between Rezuans, Soviets, and Pergenese is in progress. They do not want Pergen to feel threatened to act rashly.

The Cafleau National
General seizes power in bloodless coup
Shocking news rocked the nation today as the President of the Council of Safety and Progress Ketsu Tuglanovy was overthrown toady by General Lhostenbiy Orkvasovy. Orkvasovy had been ordered by the President to fire on the gathering crowds protesting against the economic downturn and the general isolation fostered by the Council. The General refused the orders and spoke to the protesters while on top of a tank, saying "No one will dare shoot at you again." After the short speech the crowd followed the General and his men to the presidential palace where a brief but tease standoff occurred.

After a short 15 minutes the President and the other members of the Council agreed to step down from office, the seven man junta has then swiftly placed under arrest. General Orkvasovy took the office of President later that day in his acceptance speech he said simply. "The military establishment has long overstayed its necessity, it has been long overdue that we due away with the autocratic rule of old, and hand back political control to the will of the people." In the speech he also asked the United Sunalayan Assembly to in his words, "Accept our request to send aid and advisers to help in our democratic transformation." he finished his speech by say the words "Allah bless Cafleau and her people!"

The new President has sent out a timetable for the road to elections, if all goes well he plans to step down from his office after elections in three to six months. If the elections do go through it would be the first open and free elections held in Cafleau since 1912. This had been CN so you tomorrow night Cafleau.

Pergen Force (PERFOR) Deploys To Pergen For Peacekeeping

Image

Emblem/Insignia/Patch of the Pergen Force (PERFOR)

Having recently returned from his trip to Ventismar, Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ has made his first announcement already from the Presidential Palace in Aestin. The Minister has announced that the majority of MDAA countries have jointly formed a peacekeeping taskforce codenamed – the Pergen Force and abbreviated as PERFOR. The initiative to form a taskforce is a result of the recent MDAA consultation summit on Pergen, Konetya and The Bohin, which was called up by The Seven United. The taskforce is responsible for peacekeeping, stabilization, public order, civilian and infrastructure protection, violence deterrence, humanitarian, medical and other aid provision, recovery and rehabilitation, as well as the overall creation of a safe atmosphere in Pergen, or at least as safe as it is possible in those conditions. The Minister of Security called PERFOR a very valuable and needed instrument, serving as a stabilizing force in a country that is simultaneously in a state of war and anarchy, with no existing central government to keep up order in Pergen. Intentions were to originally deploy ACREFOR much earlier, also with participation of MDAA countries and possibly partner states of the alliance, but the Department of Security is focusing on the present situation, rather than “what if” scenarios. 2 of MDAA partner states – Lindenholt and D’Fleuves are also involved in the situation, which is why PERFOR intends to team up with both countries in doing what is possible to stabilize Pergen.

Following the outbreak of war in Konetya, the USA Security Council issued a resolution that forbid Pantorrum, and any other military force, from deploying combat units into Konetya. The resolution was of immense disagreement among certain member states, but we were chief among these. You might look at this resolution and say, "Hey, what's the big deal? They're just trying to keep out foreign interest, and prevent a war!" Well, that's fine and dandy- until you get to our rather unique situation.

Pantorran Forces numbering nearly 10,000 were already deployed in the city of Konetya before the Resolution came to pass. Because of this, our position is a bit different from everyone else's. Yet, the clause banning the deployment of military forces gave no consideration to those who's armies were already deployed in harms way. Essentially, the resolution said we couldn't deploy any military assets, including vehicles, weapons, and personnel, into the country of Azovskaya.

The problem with this lies in the fact that the Union might have been deterred, and thousands of lives saved, if more forces were allowed to be moved in. The get of the Resolution was opposite to goal. And the effect was perfectly predicted by President Pearce, who said that it would only give the Union time to mobilize their forces while Pantorran troops were cut off. The resolution, having effectively cut off our forces from reinforcements to deter a massive enemy assault, have the Union ample opportunity to surround the city.

Supporters of the resolution say that it would have achieved peace and avoided war, had our forces not been there. But Pantorran Analysts say otherwise. The Defense Department argues that the Union had made it clear before Pantorran troop deployment that they weren't interested in peace or diplomacy. Their forces were racing into Konetya, littlerally about to cross the Provinces border. They were closing in fast, and the only reason the province was saved is largely due to our deployment, according to the Secretary of Defense.

Defense statistics show that at the rate the Union was advancing, they would have taken the entire province in less than 4 days, meaning that there would never have been a resolution, there would never have been peace talks, and there never would have been hope for a free Konetya. Because the Union would have taken the province well before any of these resolutions were voted on, and Konetya was powerless to defend itself.

The government argues that the deployment of our forces spared the city and created a platform on which democracy could work. But the USA took the wrong action, and banned us from deploying additional forces. Which in turn, caused our forces to remain small and undermined our efforts to deter the Union. Aided by the Resolution, which isolates our forces, the Union launched a massive assault on the city, an assault that would have happened weeks ago had we not arrived, and would have been stoped had we been allowed to deploy an additional 30,000 troops.

Because the USA prevented our deterance through force, which was the only way given that the Union said early in they wouldn't negotiate for Konetya, the Secretary of State has announced plans to sue the USA in World Court. She said that because of the USA, Konetya was isolated from military support in the face of an aggressive Azovskayan Union. Due to this, a battle could not be deterred, and thousands of lives were lost.

The law suit is for financial compensation, and for the repeal of the resolution that allows the Union to continue and occupy the Province. The law suit is likely to fail, according to political analysts. Regardless, the State Department continues to seek what it calls "Justice for unnecessary bloodshed caused by the USA resolution".

In other news, Pantorran ground forces have begun their assault on Western Konetya as of late last night. 12,000 Pantorran troops, 6,000 Federation Forces, and almost 80,000 militia launched a 16 pronged counter offensive, that would strike 16 different towns along the western half of the province. The large scale offensive has been in the planning for weeks, but was deterred by the involvement of Rezua in an almost resolved war.

The 96,000 throng offensive force aims to not only take the 16 towns, but continue their offense and wrap around the Union forces. Their goal, to capture the entire Union Army left in Konetya, is one that will give the Federation over 30,000 prisoners of war in total. The capture of enemy forces is planned in an effort to gain a major bargaining chip for peace, something the Defense Department now expresses very high hopes for.

General McEllester, commander of the Konetyan Liberation Coalition, is expected to receive a promotion to Lt. General following his uncontested success in liberation Konetya. Despite late Union forces in the Western Province, analysts anticipate that coalition forces can liberate the rest of Konetya by Friday night, essentially driving the war out of the province all together.

The State Delartment said they hope the war can be brought to an end by August, so that State Department Overseers can organize a free election in Konetya to chose their own leaders. The State Department would go on to call Rezuab leadership wrong in saying that we are only entered the war to defend the Federation. Secretary Ross said that they have always intended to host elections for the democratic Federation, and restore Konetya to the free democracy it should be.

Acting-Queen Criticizes Sunrisian Government
Early this morning, the nation of Sunrisia made a decision to deploy to Pergen, along with their allies, to assist in "peacekeeping operations". This of course, was met with harsh criticism from the Belantic government, who sees this as interfering with the Pergenese situation, which seems to be contained by member states of the Ventismarian Union, as well as Rezua and the USJR, in which the latter two have engaged in peace talks with Pergen. Furthermore, Sunrisia is hinting at a possible engagement in The Bohin, which recently is being addressed by various Rhodeve Commonwealth members and the USA. While these actions appear noble, Belantica does not see it as that, but instead, a powergrab by the nation in order to retain control over affairs. The Acting-Queen, Princess Cindy, had released a statement last night about the Sunrisian intentions, criticizing the behavior of their government as "warmongering."

"In these times, as the world seems to never truly be at peace, it is important to put in effort towards that. I can safely say that as a whole, Belantica has done more for a more peaceful world than our belligerent counterpart in Corentia known as Sunrisia. If you look at their history, you can see that their country has gone through more of it's own personal problems that most other nations, and somehow, they believe that they have the right to just walk in anywhere, and act like they are in charge of a situation. Of course, many believe these intentions are good, but at a cost to someone else. Even though the MDAA is a mutual defense alliance, it's is an organization that is very biased towards it's creator, making sure that Sunrisia has the final say. And these people blindly follow. Not to mention, their military industrial complex literally has a tight grasp on their government. And thus, I find it quite hilarious that they call themselves "peaceful" when they want to stick their nose into every little civil war, coup, or unstable government they come across just to project military. If they want true peace, then the first step that the Sunrisian people must take is to tell their leaders to stop dragging them into every little conflict that happens. In fact, Belantica is quite glad that we didn't have to rely on them for us to rise up from an old and failing government, because we know that if we allowed them to come in, the uprising would have taken longer, there would be higher casualties, and the country would be left in a state of total chaos and disrepair. Why you may ask? Because Sunrisia is a destructive government putting on a facade to think everything is okay. As for Pergen, I believe that our brethren within the VU, Rezua, Pantorum, and the Soviets are fully able to stabilize the nation without MDAA interference. In fact, they shouldn't even be in Pergen, as Ventismarian affairs should be dealt by Ventismarian nations, period. Hell, the USA would be better at peacekeeping, because that is their purpose, not Sunrisia's. As for The Bohin, I can assure that the Rhodeve Commonwealth is working to contain the situation and resolve it on it's own, and it would not be appreciated if they decide to go there to "peacekeep" when The Bohin made it clear that it will only work with a few nations to resolve the crisis between it and Molenston, which if you give enough time, it will be resolves using words and not bullets, but maybe bullets is the only language Sunrsia understands.

So yes, call me what you like, I don't mind. I won't do anything to anyone, but maybe express my disgust of their government. If they want to raise their opinion of the Belantic people, then they need to take a more pacifist approach of world affairs, and the easier way to do this is simple: Don't send troops to every little backwater nation they can find. Because honestly, I think people would much prefer to live in a state of peace, rather than a constant state of being on high alert and parading arounf the military as it's the only damn solution. it's a blindness that only they can fix, but I'm just the sister of the queen, so what do I know? Maybe their president can talk rather than use force, and I think when the queen returns, he should try to talk with her so a more peaceful future can be possible."

Princess Cindy stated that she will not act, as she believe that Queen Karen must either approve of or be present if any actions are taken on international affairs, and currently, is hinting to talk with Rezuan officials on the recent crisis ongoing, stating that "allies must watch each other's backs"

LDA Group Announced New Rebuilding Plan For Troubled Nations
Lancet-Deckard Automobiles, also known as LDA Group, has announced a new plan to help nations troubled by recent conflicts to rebuild and strengthen their local economies. The company's plan is called "New Roads, New Beginnings", in which the goal is to rebuild nations after troubling times by investing in the construction of new roadways and factories. The plan also allows for nations to work with LDA Group directly to bring new jobs to locals through the opening of new productions and assembly plants in their nations. Furthermore, LDA Group plans to help sponsor the construction to schools and hospitals for these nations that are not well off.

And to further help, LDA is saying that they will donate 5,000 new trucks, full of building supplies and foodstuffs, to Konetya when the time is right, with an additional 10,000 cars and light trucks to be donated and given away at raffles to help the local population get back on track with a cleaner, more efficient, and more reliable vehicles. For Pergen, it is expected that another 5,000 trucks and 5,000 cars and light trucks will be sent as well. "We care about the communities we work with," stated LDA spokesperson Kelly Harlow, "it is important to us that not only do we support the communities in which we employ workers at, but also, everywhere that we serve our customers with our quality vehicles. Our goal is to make the world a better place through friendship, cooperation, and looking after everyone from the farmer, to the teacher, to the doctor, to the blue collar worker, to the white collar workers, and to the pensioners. Which is why LDA is always looking for way to make sure that everyone is being looked after, and that everyone has a chance of success, and where employees of all the facilities worldwide have a real voice in how our company is shaped, in fact, I honestly believe that the Group as a whole is one of the most democratic companies out there, and we aim to make it better not just for those working for LDA, but all of those living with them or around them as well."

LDA Group is expected to get in contact with the government of Pergen to help secure possible sites for new plants, and is currently waiting for the situation in Azovskaya to settle down, but the company is willing to work with whichever government that is in power to ensure more prosperity for the people that inhabit those lands. The company says that these plants will be for local production at first, but the possiblity of them exporting finished vehicles is still on the table when local demand is satisfied."Strong local economies build stronger world economies," says LDA's head market researcher, Greg Furgesson, "because it's a vast connected world, and it's important to make sure everyone from the small town to the largest of cities are able to have a decent standard of living."

Alastair Conoll Dismisses Pantorrum Loss of Life Case

World Court, Droflet

Chief Justice, Alastair Conoll, has, today, dismissed a case from the Pantorrum government aiming to sue the United Sunalayan Assembly on the grounds of the loss of life seen in the Konetya conflict.

"The World Court has today taken the decision to dismiss this case on the grounds that the case simply is not compatible with World Court regulations and powers." Alastair Conoll said in the press conference.

The Chief Justice went on further to say: "The government of Pantorrum was well aware of the possibilities of entering this conflict and the ramifications should they be stuck in a diplomatic minefield. Unfortunately, the actions taken by both the Union government of Azovskaya and Pantorrum including all other belligerents has resulted in the loss of life and the continued delay of further peace processes. I can only advise that the government of Pantorrum and the USA Security Council allow for a diplomatic end to the conflict."

Michelle Ahina hits back against Princess Cindy's claims

Michelle Ahina came out today to speak to the media after meeting with The Council earlier today. This comes with a slight change in the "speech" says government spokesmen, after the acting-princess of Belantica Princess Cindy came out with frivolous claims against Sunrisia and MDAA allies. This comes after Princess Cindy, acting Queen of Belantica hit out with claims against The MDAA and Sunrisia particularly which has not gone unnoticed in The Seven United. Some people believe she is right, that this is un needed to be acting in somebody elses business, though a lot think that is just for maintaining world peace, atleast in an S7NN internet poll.

"Hiya. I've briefed The Council and MDAA today, and The Seven United has came to a decision. We will be cooperating in the Pergen peacekeeping force. This force is for peace and good in the region. Protecting aid convoys, protecting families from the actions of the few. The peacekeeping is for good, and as such we will be supplying 450 of our soldiers to keep the peace in Pergen, these men will be shipped with their MDAA allies. The truth is, The Seven United called for this consultation. The region is unstable, so is Ziambian, Though Ziambian is for another day. We believe doing this action is critical for the security of the now. The MDAA is an independent alliance that wants peace and good in society, together with Sunrisia the MDAA, Acrefor and branch PERFOR will be actively working in The Pergen for peace and stability for those who need it.

Regarding Princess Cindys opinionated claims, it is wrong. The MDAA is not biased towards the creator, and if it was we would have left it already, as is our independent ability. The MDAA is a worker for peace in our world, yes, you may not see it that way because we eclipse you in your mind, but this is the truth. Just to clarify, I don't recognize her point of view as Belanticas point of view, we shall wait for that when the real Queen comes back."

Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan: “Statement By Acting-Queen Of Belantica Is Illogical And Self-Contradictory.

In response to criticisms of the Sunrisian government by the Acting-Queen of Belantica – Princess Cindy, Sunrisian Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan took the time to issue a statement of response on behalf of the Fáustîtár administration and the state:

As you might have heard, Princess Cindy of Belantica, who is currently serving as the Acting Queen of that country, has issued a statement criticizing Sunrisia’s government and our foreign policy. We do not know whether she has expressed her own view or the official Belantican position, which is why let us look at this statement as something in between. We are a nation that can take criticism and believe in people’s right to express themselves, but unprecedented hints that our country is seeking to do harm, has done harm or has ulterior motives, is difficult to take lightly. There is nothing surprising in this, since we have been hearing power-grab accusations from the USJR or other potential adversaries of Sunrisia many times in the past. These are politics, there’s nothing new here. But, if we can point such accusations out as simply being an opinion or blatantly not true, that is something we should do.

Princess Cindy is accusing Sunrisia of involvement in many world crises and calls our actions destabilizing, which I’m paraphrasing, but she then goes on to mention in the same sentence a number of other countries that are involved in those situations just as much, if not more. In fact, one of the countries she mentioned was Pantorrum, our newest MDAA ally, which is also involved in the PERFOR taskforce that we had just deployed and which Princess Cindy has criticized. Those accusations just don’t make sense, because she does not seem to have a problem with certain states being engaged in these international issues, yet has a problem with our country, saying that we are destabilizing the situation or looking to expand our power. We don’t even have ground forces engaged in combat or directly fighting in some of ongoing wars, unlike some countries that she does not mind. Not only that, but Sunrisia also always receives permission by the countries, where we start our humanitarian operations. We offer and if we are allowed, we act. In many cases our help is requested too.

Saying that everyone in MDAA answers to Sunrisia is simply not true and that statement is not based on anything or supported by any facts, other than – “well….it just looks that way.” Following that logic, I could easily point a finger at integral blocs or alliances that Belantica is in along with other power states, but I don’t want to return to that old, depleted topic. Her Excellency Commissioner Michelle Ahina of The Seven United just come out with a statement also responding to Princess Cindy, where she clearly reaffirmed equality and self-sufficiency of member states in MDAA, with nobody being forced to join the alliance or to do anything against their country’s will or interests. In fact, The Seven United’s foreign policy is an additional demonstration of Sunrisia’s respect to our allies’ individual choices. I will get back to Commissioner Ahina’s statement.

Accusations that Sunrisian actions are destabilizing are not true, because in terms of the crises and many recent military ventures of Sunrisia, our country has been involved strictly in humanitarian and peacekeeping efforts, with no combat whatsoever. We are not fighting in wars, including in any of the ongoing ones, where other states have been engaged in. I am not trying to hold it against them or say if they are right or wrong, I am just stating facts. Our respected men and women in uniform have done nothing destructive, but on the contrary have been trying to build stability and save lives by extinguishing flames of war and not setting them. The fires had been started before us. Our servicemen have not been involved in any war crimes or incidents either, so there is no basis to call Sunrisia out on destabilizing actions, because there is no pattern, precedent or tendency. Sunrisia cannot be accused of power grabs either, because over our history, we had never taken over a single ounce of foreign land. Where we live now, is what we always had. But, this argument, of course, can be bended around in different ways by many these days.

There is also no precedent for Belantica to feel distrustful towards Sunrisia or to have some sort of a negative sentiment towards our country, because Sunrisia never really interacted with Belantica enough throughout history, not to mention hasn’t done anything wrong to Belantica in order for that country to have anti-Sunrisian sentiment. Even today our countries do not interact much and with this spontaneous anti-MDAA sentiment and accusations of Sunrisian hegemony, we are not rushing to open dialogue with Belantica, because they might then start twisting facts around again and start saying that Sunrisia is trying to sneak up on them or force them into something. Now why would we voluntarily drag ourselves into that sort of a situation? You don’t like us, we don’t have to interact. Nobody should force anybody into anything. Just live your life, we will live ours. Therefore, to explain what is just blatantly wrong about the statements of Princess Cindy in regards to how Sunrisia might have intervened into Belantica’s revolutionary internal events, it’s just a combination of a lot of things I had already mentioned. It’s disrespectful to our soldiers and to the good things that they had done or have been trying to do, so I’ll leave that on her consciousness. As I’ve said, there’s no basis for anti-Sunrisian sentiment in Belantica, so either Princess Cindy is expressing the position of some of Belantica’s other foreign partners through her country’s name or she is hinting that Belantica might have some geopolitical ambitions of its own and Sunrisia’s actions do not really mix well with that. Or, it could be what I said before and Princess Cindy is simply talking out of her hat, basing everything on her opinion, rather than proof or facts.

Getting back to Commissioner Michelle Ahina, the Department of International Relations would like to thank her on behalf of the Sunrisian government and our country’s people. Her statement has proven that Sunrisia is not wrong for considering The Seven United a friend. The Seven United is not just a neighbor, a strategic and economic partner or a formal ally, but a genuine friend of Sunrisia and we hope that this relationship will continue to prosper and not be torn apart neither externally nor internally. Together with The Seven United, the rest of MDAA and our official global partners, we know that the truth is on our side, because we know that we stand on the side of good and are fighting for good.

The Cafleau National
The President tears up list of blocked parties
The first meeting of the reshuffled Federal Congress took place late tonight, with a little over half of the 120 delegate seats not filled. The president opened the meeting by asking for his selection of government offices to be approved. The first two picks major generals Zhilebiy Hagur and Discheshu Meshvez as Chairman of the Congress and Chief Minister of Security went through with little discussion his pick for the position of Vice-President shocked many. Madya Gedgafovy, a major who served under Orkvasovy, was a surprise due to her being just 35 years old. While the pick was met with muffled voices of discontent it passed through the Congress with little problem.

The president then proceed to move onto his first directive, legalizing the majority of outlawed political parties. While many of these parties have been rendered defunct since their banning several underground resistance parties including the Communist-Socialist Unity Party and the Alliance for a Free and Democratic Cafleau are now legal. This carried with it an implicit promise of allowing the return of Hemit'e Hashpakovy along with others who have lived in exile in Rhodevus for the past several years. The President ended his call for liberalization of the political sphere by waving several pieces of paper around before ripping them to pieces. The one-eighty of the previous decades of policy in just one night was achieved in the words of one anonymous insider with in the Congress "By keeping the conservative delegates away from the Congress, either by arresting them or setting up road blocks to keep them away."

The rest of the session was relatively tame compared to the two previous declarations, mostly about relaxations of the strict sedation and speech laws as well as removing several of the restrictions that foreigners faced on traveling to Cafleau. The decisions from the president have ruffled the feathers of many older and conservative military men with the most vocal and vitriolic critic being colonel general Albek Etluhovy who openly called Orkvasovy an "idiot" and a "communist". This had been CN so you tomorrow night Cafleau.

International Intervention in Pergen

Talstadt

While peace talks are underway in the Rezuan capital, governments in other capitals have been discussing the situation in Pergen. Sunrisia has jumped to prominence among those nations by putting together the PERFOR, an multinational force tasked with bringing peace and stability to Pergen. How exactly that will be accomplished is yet to be seen. The mission has been described as MDAA plus and may include VU member states. The VU has itself been discussing the situation for some time now and things have escalated as violence has increased on Pergen's western border which includes VU member states D'Fleuves and Felsinia. This has included unconfirmed reports of border crossings by combatants.

The intervention has not been uncontroversial. Almost immediately both Belantica and the Rezuan Empire denounced PERFOR. The former declared it a shameless power grab, while the former suggested it was counter productive, citing the ongoing peace talks. It the larger context regarding intervention in Sunalaya and the USA, this can be seen as part of the ongoing conflict over who has the right to intervene. As opposed to the conflict in Azovskaya, the USA has not been involved, and the possibility of VU involvement suggests a shift in status quo. No doubt this is a cause of tension.

The anarchist paper Schwarze Zeit has published reports detailing an alledged conspiracy between the Rezuan Empire and USJR. However, many have not taken the possibility of such a conspiracy serious. Foreign affairs expert, Johannes Blick laughed at the idea and suggested that the Rezuan-Soviet rivalry "was more likely to cause a war between the two powers, than to solve the Pergen conflict."

The idea that Pergen could be pulled into a larger conflict worries many of Pergen's residents. This has been suggested as the reason that support for the Peace Talks has shot up in recent polls.

A Return to Form

It seems as though the standard for the last few months of conflict between Molenston and The Bohin have returned. A firefight broke out between outposts bordering the Sivier River and Bauer Basin respectively. While no soldier from either side attempted to cross the heavily guarded border between the two nations, it seems like the Bohi forces are testing for weak spots in the Molenstoni defensive line. The firefight, which took place at 4 am this morning resulted in two Malesti injuries and one severe injury. It is unknown the casualties for the Bohinian forces.

"We cannot stand for these attacks on our sovereignty much longer." Stated Chieftain Sunni Bwuba in front of the Molenstoni High Assembly. "It is our duty to defend the people of our land from attack, including our soldiers who should not be injured and tormented by those across our border. The Bohin wishes to continue to push deeper into the Wukund and take our arid lands. The Bohin wishes to push farther down the Sivier and reap the rewards of our hard work over the last few decades. The Bohin wishes to push us to the farthest edges of our territory and then destroy us. These are not new threats. These are the same ones we have faced for thousands of years. We had once reciprocated these threats against them, during our years before modernity. But now, as I look around this assembly and I walk along the streets of our capital, we have abandoned the ancient ways of war and violence against a people who might as well be our brothers. We both descend from the same people who had inhabited this land since the beginning of time. If they cannot see it, we must see for them.

But, this peace should not be considered our weakness. We shall fight back. Harder and fiercer than ever. We shall fight in the desert and on the river and in the oceans. To the Bohinians, you have given us a debt we will kindly repay. If not for the lives you have attacked, but for the honour of my people. I promise you this. We will not longer let modern civility stand in the way of true Malesti Honour."
